The study presents a global research scenario in the domain of quantum sensing in quantitative and qualitative terms. The study is based on an analysis of 588 global publications in the field, sourced from the Scopus database for the period 1991-2020. The study identified key countries, organizations and authors, network collaborative linkages at national, institutional, and author level. In addition, it identified broad subject areas intersecting quantum sensing research, key journals for research communications, and broad characteristics of highly-cited papers. The study finds that the USA and Germany lead the world ranking in quantum sensing research with a combined share of 50% to the global output. The USA, Germany, and Italy are the home countries to 13 of the top 15 most productive organizations, and also the home countries to 14 of the top 15 most productive authors in the subject. The top journals publishing most research publications are Physical Review A, Physical Review Letters and New Journal of Physics. However, in the most cited journals list in the subject, Agriculture & Forest Meterology, Science and Physical Review A tops the list. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Twitter has become an important promotional tool for scholarly work, but individual academic publications have varied degrees of visibility on the platform. We explain this variation through the concept of Twitter-worthiness: factors making certain academic publications more likely to be visible on Twitter. Using publications from communication studies as our analytical case, we conduct statistical analyses of 32187 articles spanning 82 journals. Findings show that publications from G12 countries, covering social media topics and published open access tend to be mentioned more on Twitter. Similar to prior studies, this study demonstrates that Twitter mentions are associated with peer citations. Nevertheless, Twitter also has the potential to reinforce pre-existing disparities between communication research communities, especially between researchers from developed and less-developed regions. Purpose: Academic contention occurs when research evidence is amenable to more than one interpretation. China has a long tradition of Shang Que (商榷), in which authors argue for their preferred interpretation. The modern form of this tradition is the Shang Que article, which often takes the form of research papers in Chinese-language journals and which tends to be question-oriented. Shang Que articles usually take the views of a particular author or article as the focus of independent and complete criticism by another, independent, academic. This paper explains the role of Shang Que articles in Chinese scholarship and their influence on international academia. Design/methodology/approach: A bibliometric analysis was used to explore the characteristics and evolution of Chinese Shang Que articles using 30,577 articles published between 1979 and 2018. Microsoft Excel and Gephi were used for data analysis and visualization. Findings: Findings suggest a decline in the number of Shang Que articles and an increase in the number of co-authors. Shang Que articles remained particularly prominent in Philosophy and Humanities and Social Sciences, where they focused on local issues such as classical Chinese, the Sinicization of Marxism and Chinese literature. This suggests that the number of Shang Que articles is related to the degree of internationalization of a research field. Originality/value: Shang Que articles, which have been influenced by academic paradigms in English, are a fusion of China's Shang Que tradition and of the modern academic system. A significant paradigm shift is underway in communication research as open science practices (e.g. preregistration, open materials) are becoming more prevalent. The current work identified how much the field has embraced such practices and evaluated their impact on authors (e.g. citation rates). We collected 10,517 papers across 26 journals from 2010 to 2020, observing that 5.1% of papers used or mentioned open science practices. Communication research has seen the rate of nonsignificant p-values (p >.055) increasing with the adoption of open science over time, but p-values just below p <.05 have not reduced with open science adoption. Open science adoption was unrelated to citation rate at the article level; however, it was inversely related to the journals' h-index. Our results suggest communication organizations and scholars have important work ahead to make open science more mainstream. Whilst the practitioner field around current student communications has developed in recent years, most published research still focuses either on prospective students, theoretical benefits of student communications or usage of individual channels of communication. This paper contributes to policy and practice by providing the first UK-wide look at current students' communications preferences and behaviours through a meta-analysis of 17 student communications surveys (total students surveyed 20,134). Results show that students expect their universities to utilise a range of channels (including email, social media and student portals) – i.e. an integrated marketing theory approach. Most students feel that they receive the right level of information; however, overall satisfaction with communications has decreased in recent years. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of crisis communication research from 1968 to 2022, utilizing bibliometric methods to illuminate its trajectories, thematic shifts, and future possibilities. Additionally, it presents foundational themes such as crisis communication and social media, health communication, crisis and leadership, and reputation and advertising. This analysis offers not only historical insights but also serves as a roadmap for future research endeavors. Furthermore, this study critically evaluates over five decades of scholarship by unveiling the intellectual, social, and conceptual contours of the field while highlighting thematic evolutions. Employing diverse bibliometric indices, this research quantifies authors' and nations' productivity and impact. Through co-word analysis, four thematic clusters emerge, capturing the dynamic nature of crisis communication research. However, the study also reveals limited collaboration among authors, primarily localized, indicating room for enhanced cross-border cooperation and exploration of emerging themes. The study's social network analysis sheds light on key actors and entities within the crisis communication realm, underscoring opportunities to fortify global networks for a robust crisis communication spectrum. Beyond academic curiosity, these insights hold practical implications for policymakers, scholars, and practitioners, offering a blueprint to enhance crisis communication's effectiveness. In order to facilitate communication and collaboration between researchers, Brain–computer interfaces (BCI) require a generally applicable functional model as well as a common vocabulary. The IEEE P2731 working group is in the process of developing such a functional model and a lexicon of BCI terminology. Such a functional model has multiple aspects including the control interface, physiology, transducers, etc. This current paper focuses on the control interface aspects of that model. Having a generally applicable control interface model will facilitate interdisciplinar y research and communication. The control interface is a critical part of the functional model and is described in this current paper. The control interface presented intentionally is intentionally kept general in order to be widely applicable. Purpose: The aim of this paper is to (1) discuss current topics related to organizational communication with reference to legitimacy problems described within the institutional theory framework and to (2) show how the proposed solutions may be important with regard to research on communication processes in organizations and for theorists dealing with foundational assumptions for organization studies. As for reaching the core point of processes under investigation in the paper researchers make use of metaphors leading to rising concerns over the appropriate lens used to understand reality, the discussion in the paper is conducted in the light of more abstract considerations over the paradox of agency and assumptions related to epistemological and ontological stances of institutionalists or critical researchers. Design/methodology/approach: The theoretical scope of the paper covers selected streams of research of institutional theory focused on communication processes, however, some further attention is paid to e.g. possibilities for the critical institutional analysis to emerging. In order to achieve the goals of the paper theoretical analysis is conducted based on selected papers important regarding how institutional theory can develop in the field of communication research. Findings: Considering the phenomena of legitimacy building based on appropriate communication with external and internal evaluators as a challenging task whose effect may depend on actors' agency opens interesting perspectives from which those relations may be analyzed. Nevertheless, it is also emphasized that each time when attempting to answer posed questions by referring to theories that may turn out not to be the best choice for this task, the researches need to maintain aware that those trials can potentially introduce primarily further ambiguity in arguments instead of clarifications. Thus, conclusions allow for recognition of main ontological and epistemological assumptions lying behind propositions that should be considered when building new ones related to communication. Hence, it becomes possible to outline hints as to when it may be especially possible for successful communication to occur. Originality/value: The paper addresses the problems related mainly to the communicative stream of research within the institutional theory framework by focusing on the conditions of the appropriateness of using metaphors as a source of inspiration for the advancement of theoretical reasoning. Because of the growing level of sophistication of how processes of communication are described, it is worth doing to indicate not only assumptions behind new propositions but also to delineate boundaries within which those propositions are to be built. SUMMARY: In this paper, we provide theoretical and practical guidance on experimental design choices when incorporating auditor-client communication in audit research. We structure our discussion around Social Presence Theory, noting how elements of social presence impact theoretical predictions and the related experimental design. We then compare non-interactive, highly controlled paper/computer-based studies with studies that involve automated interaction, interaction with an actor, or interaction between participants. We provide a discussion of best practices and pitfalls related to these different experimental design choices, including theoretical and logistical considerations, as well as recent innovations in this area. While our methodological discussion is nested in auditor-client communication research, these methods and logistical considerations are applicable to most accounting experiments designed to address research questions steeped in social psychology (i.e., contexts of human interaction). In this paper, we engage in productive resistance through exploring the application of an arts-based method in expanding the critical research methodology repertoire in the profession of speech-language pathology. There is a specific focus on the value of painting in the data representation process. We explore how a playful, creative analysis deepened the critical interpretative meaning-making process. In particular, we explain how artful representations in the data analysis process can broaden communication in research beyond the written modality to generate alternative knowledges. We use the concepts of productive ambiguity and unknowing as key conceptual tools to reimagine the data analysis process with particular focus on the process of data representation. For qualitative researchers seeking the perspectives of people with unusual characteristics or circumstances, compliance with expectations about participant anonymity can be difficult, if not impossible. In the age of internet communications and emerging research methodologies, traditional strategies require ongoing re-examination to ensure cohesion between a project's ethical framework and its research practice. This paper reflects on the approach to informed consent used in a study with parent carers whose children had high-level support needs. A two-step process of written consent was developed in response to concerns about the possible re-identification of these parents as a result of their highly individual circumstances. This approach acknowledged the potential for identification, and maximised participants' agency in choosing the level of risk that they were comfortable to accommodate. The paper discusses the researcher's and participants' responses to the adapted consent process and recommends that researchers and ethics review committees remain open to the development of collaborative and innovative approaches that are also culturally and contextually relevant, to enable people to contribute perspectives that might otherwise be silenced by the very ethical frameworks that purport to protect their interests. More and more scholarly attention is paid to dissecting discipline of communication research under the microscope thereby aiming at revealing foci of scientific interest. The lion's share of research has hereby focused either on the supply side of research examining what topics scholars write about or at the popularity side of research shedding light on what scientific publications receive the most citations. Building up on this, we argue that these research strands are inadequate to the task of exhaustively identifying foci of scientific interest. Tailoring for the fragmented topical landscape of communication research, we propose an integrative combination of three metrics: supply, popularity, and prestige of research topics. By means of topic modeling, citation counts and citation networks, our study showcases how our approach is able to reveal the intellectual architecture of our discipline in order to identify relevant paths for further scientific inquiry. This paper conceptualises replication research as being one of the most needed areas of ongoing academic activity. Using George the Galapagos tortoise as a metaphor for the lack of replication research, it is argued that only by replicating research studies over time can solid theory be developed. For the most part, advertising and marketing communication research consists of non-replicated, one-shot, point-in-time experiments which, once accepted and published by a journal, becomes the litany of the academic community and is then deified by the citation process. The paper begins by reviewing the background of replication research in the marketing communication domain and applies it to current thinking and publication trends. Reasons for the lack of replication research are presented and some conclusions are drawn for those seeking to confirm or challenge existing research. Among the many Central European scholars and intellectuals driven into exile across the Atlantic in the 1930s was the prominent Vienna psychologist Karl Bühler (1879–1963). Bühler had great difficulty establishing himself in his new home of the United States, despite his attempts to adapt his ideas to the American scene. In this paper, we look at one such attempt at adaptation, the unpublished manuscript of Bühler's "Pocketbook on Practical Semantics," an effort to turn the Sprachtheorie of his Vienna period into a contribution to the applied semiotics and communications research popular in America at the time. The paper analyses the growth pattern of Obstetrics and Gynaecology literature during 1900-2021. The data downloaded from web of science database, further interpreted, and analyzed for the study purpose. Total number of publications has been identified as 10,193 records. The distribution of publications based on document type of the publications, the year of production, source wise ranking, Language wise, country wise productivity, top ten affiliations wise, Web of Science Research areas contribution is in the maximum level were studied. In order to improve the practical effect of intelligent prediction system, by analyzing and studying the characteristics of the traffic carried on the network, it can provide an effective way to explore the internal operating mechanism of the network. This paper takes the embedded wireless communication network as the research object to construct an intelligent predictive analysis system and applies the intelligent regression algorithm to the intelligent predictive analysis to construct an intelligent predictive analysis system. Finally, this paper verifies the system model of this paper through experimental research. The research results show that the intelligent predictive analysis system based on the embedded wireless communication network proposed in this paper is very effective and has a positive effect on the construction and development of the embedded wireless communication network. This paper describes the development and salience of an original and innovative interdisciplinary approach, Sensoria, that combines methods and techniques from social science and performance to address the methodological challenges of researching sensory/multimodal experiences. It sets out the core components and methodological principles that underpin the approach and uses an illustrative example to show how it can facilitate research on hard to access sensorial experiences, to access, understand and analyse people's experiences and perspectives of touch, a highly tacit sensory mode. The paper discusses the methodological contribution and challenges of this approach to sensory research for social science and artistic practice and 'more-than-representational' research more generally. It concludes by making a case for more critical research spaces at the intersection of these disciplines to foster multi-dimensional research dialogues and to advance the exploration and understanding of the relationship between the sensory, social and the digital. The paper reviews two strands of research on communication of uncertainty that usually have been investigated separately: (1) Probabilities attached to specific outcomes, and (2) Range judgments. Probabilities are sometimes expressed by verbal phrases ("rain is likely") and at other times in a numeric format ("70% chance of rain"), whereas range judgments describe the potential amounts expected ("1–4 mm of rain"). Examination of previous research shows that both descriptions convey, in addition to the strength of expectations, pragmatic information about the communicative situation. For instance, so-called verbal probability expressions (VPE), as likely, unlikely, a chance, or not certain give some, albeit vague, probabilistic information, but carry in addition an implicit message about the sources of uncertainty, the outcome's valence and severity, along with information about the speakers' attitudes and their communicative intentions. VPEs are directional by drawing attention either to an outcome's occurrence ("it is possible") or to its non-occurrence ("it is doubtful"). In this sense they may be more informative than numbers. Uncertainties about outcomes in a distribution (continuous quantities) are alternatively expressed as interval estimates. The width of such intervals can function as a cue to credibility and expertise. Incomplete, one-sided intervals, where only one boundary is stated, imply directionality. "More than 100 people" suggests a crowd, while "less than 200" implies a shortfall. As with VPEs, directionally positive intervals are more frequent, and perhaps more neutral than negative ones. This essay discusses how storytelling conventions and entertainment delivery methods have evolved with the advent of new technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality. This paper aims to explore the psychological mechanisms involved in narrative processing for users of augmented and virtual reality spaces, focusing on transportation as an important construct. A history of presence through art performances and Greek poetry is discussed. Connections are established between Greek tragedies and audience scholarship, highlighting Nietzsche's framework for understanding the impact of Greek tragedies on audiences and the concept of the fourth wall. The fourth wall is used to assess the similarities and differences between traditional and emerging forms of media. Finally, future research on transportation with narratives on virtual and augmented reality is proposed. These recommendations include: adapting the transportation measure to fit the affordances of emerging tech better, clarifying the relationship between transportation and flow in the context of narrative exposure within emerging tech, and conceptualizing transportation at a macro level to include transmedia experiences. Revealing one's evaluation towards a shared target of stance will likely set off a chain of reactions among all participants in an interaction. This interactive activity widely recognized as stancetaking has attracted the attention of researchers in a variety of fields of inquiry. This paper intends to enrich this line of research by revealing details of stancetaking as an evolving process. It proposes to do so by recognizing two separate layers relevant for stance progression. The first is the external layer where participants physically exchange utterances in order to negotiate their stances. The second is the internal layer where each participant interacts with his/her own internalized and internalizing knowledge. To demonstrate these points, I will analyze excerpts of English conversations between unacquainted speakers who experienced a common major incident in their daily lives (an earthquake and a false missile alarm incident). I will also use a conversation in Thai to demonstrate how a speaker indexes her changing evaluation toward a third person by alternating different third person pronouns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This opinion piece discusses how research on language ideologies (or, for that matter, ideologies of communication in general) relates to micro/macro distinctions of both the research field and the discipline of sociolinguistics. Starting off from the thesis that both object and strand of research at stake here do not neatly fit this dichotomous distinction, the paper discusses the Fishmanian origins as well as the diverse and diverging definitions of micro- andmacro-sociolinguistics that ensued from Fishman's proposal, considering the different assumptions that underlie the respective variants of the distinction. The piece discusses why language ideology research locates its object, and itself as a discipline, beyond the micro/macro binarism, and how/why it embraces a more scalar, relative and reflexive approach to social and linguistic juxtaposition, ordering and ranking. To this end, the concept of 'social scales' and its uptake by language ideology research are introduced and discussed. Finally, the paper provides an opinion on what the future of sociolinguistics should be like – independently from the particular strand at stake here – and about the role of this newly launched journal (with its long history as a yearbook) as the author wishes to see it being taken. The design and initial implementation of a project-based directed study course in mathematical research and communication is described. The intention of the course is to expose students to the foundation of mathematical research through inquiry-based learning. Students are asked to approach an exercise in topology as though it is an open problem. In order to optimize the communication research of dynamic carrier sensing control network based on ant colony algorithm, this paper proposes an improved ant colony routing algorithm. Firstly, this paper establishes the experimental model, sets up the relevant experimental parameters, and builds the MATLAB experimental platform. The simulation results show that compared with the basic ant colony algorithm, the improved algorithm performs better in the final jumps. The average residual energy of the sensor node is more. The total energy consumption is less, and the consumption in each round is relatively stable. The residual energy fluctuation range of the sensor node is small, and the energy consumption of each node is relatively balanced. Therefore, the improved ant colony algorithm is important for improving the survival cycle of the WSN. The algorithm comprehensively considers the factors such as convergence speed, node communication distance, node residual energy, and optimal solution and can finally find the path with low node energy consumption and high node residual energy. Despite the rapid growth of research on organizational sensemaking and an acknowledgment of the critical role of language in the sensemaking process, the literature on sensemaking and language is fragmented. In particular, there is no systematic review that explains the roles and functions of different linguistic elements in meaning construction. The purpose of this review paper is to develop an integrative theoretical framework that organizes existing research in a way that allows us to better understand how different linguistic processes shape the construction of meaning in sensemaking. First, we explain how a cognitive linguistic perspective elucidates how language provides the cognitive associations, schema, and frames used in sensemaking. Second, we discuss how a focus on the social practices of language use, as in rhetorical, narrative, or interactionist approaches, illuminates the patterns of meaning-making among organizational members in social interaction. Third, we explain how a focus on discourse helps us to understand how discursive structures enable or constrain sensemaking and thereby reproduce or transform systems of thought. This leads us to turn to the differences in these perspectives and suggest how they can be brought together in an integrative theoretical framework. Finally, we discuss the contributions of our framework and propose an agenda for future research focusing on the multifaceted role of language in sensemaking, intertextual and multimodal links in the language of sensemaking, the agentic and structural role of language in sensemaking, episodic and latent aspects of language use in sensemaking, and the role of power in discursive sensemaking. Chronic disease self-management and health behavior change programs are becoming increasingly important to health service delivery to prevent the development of chronic disease and optimize health outcomes for those who suffer from it. To train people to deliver these programs effectively, we need to understand both the what and how of program delivery. While there is an abundant literature on what, and a merging evidence about what techniques to use, such as goals setting and self-monitoring, the literature on how programs should be delivered is less well developed. This paper reviews emerging research in this area and identifies an underlying monological approach. We argue that this currently dominant model cannot address the key issues in this area. By considering the theoretical framework of Dialogism, we introduce the method of Conversation Analysis to the field of behavior change interventions. Extensive research into health communication has endeavored to show the importance of language and the organization of interactions. We demonstrate and discuss how a monological approach to interventions prevents exploration of what professionals do to deliver intervention content. Despite data suggesting that anal sex is increasingly common among heterosexual individuals, women who engage in anal sex have had little attention in academic scholarship beyond medical fields. Research on anal sex is typically androcentric, with many key studies examining the dynamics of malemale sexual practices. Moreover, research reporting anal sex among young women is often accompanied with concerns around coercion and health risks. Taking a critical view, we argue that normative assumptions about anal sex may obscure or ignore other ways that women and others might engage in anal sex, and, given the emphasis on harm reduction, may obscure a range of reasons for involvement in anal sex. Through focus groups and individual interviews with a range of individuals (n=20) including sexual health practitioners and young people, aged 19-56 years, our qualitative pilot study generated detailed discussion on (1) how anal sex is perceived in general ('what' practices constitute anal sex, who might be involved, and why), and (2) specifically how it is perceived in relation to young women. This paper focuses on the second area and three resultant analytic themes: why women may engage in anal sex, women's bodies and gendered agency, and sexual literacy. We conclude that meaningful sex and relationships education and sexual health services could usefully adopt a more nuanced appreciation of the range of practices that can comprise anal sex, and that some young women engage in anal sex for a variety of reasons (beyond coercion) including pleasure, bodily autonomy and relationship dynamics. Purpose: Crisis communication is an essential component of crisis management in hospitality and tourism. Yet few studies have offered a clear impression of the state of knowledge in this area. As one of the early conceptual attempts, this study aims to contribute to the existing knowledge by analyzing, comparing and synthesizing the literature in crisis communication and hospitality and tourism research. This study also proposes a transactional and dynamic crisis communication model that lays the conceptual foundation for future research. Design/methodology/approach: This study was guided by a theory synthesis approach and analyzed the related literature. More specifically, this study conducted a rapid review of the general crisis communication research and a conventional, systematic review of crisis communication research in hospitality and tourism. Based on the review findings, this study further develops a transactive and dynamic crisis communication model in hospitality and tourism, which is fundamental for future studies in this area. Findings: The findings of this study are presented through a literature review of general crisis communication research and crisis communication research in hospitality and tourism and the development of a transactive and dynamic crisis communication model in hospitality and tourism. Research limitations/implications: This study reviews the literature and develops an integrated model for crisis communication in hospitality and tourism. The findings of this study lay the conceptual foundation for crisis communication in hospitality and tourism and reveal future research venues. Practical implications: By offering a state-of-the-art review and developing an integrated conceptual model, the findings of this study can help bridge the gaps between academics and practices as well as serve as references for practitioners to identify and develop effective crisis responses. In the context of the evolution of in-vehicle electronic and electrical architecture as well as the rapid development of quantum computers, post-quantum algorithms, such as NTRUEncrypt, are of great significance for in-vehicle secure communications. In this paper, we propose and evaluate, for the first time, a NTRUEncrypt enhanced session key negotiation for the in-vehicle Ethernet context. Specifically, the time consumption and memory occupation of the NTRUEncrypt Elliptic Curve Diffie–Hellman (ECDH), and Rivest–Shamir–Adleman (RSA) algorithms, which are used for session key negotiation, are measured and compared. The result shows that, besides the NTRUEncrypt's particular attribute of resisting quantum computer attacks, the execution speed of session key negotiation using NTRUEncrypt is 66.06 times faster than ECDH, and 1530.98 times faster than RSA at the 128-bit security level. The memory occupation of the algorithms is at the same order of magnitude. As the transport layer security (TLS) protocol can fulfill most performance requirements of the automotive industry, post-quantum enhanced session key negotiation will probably be widely used for in-vehicle Ethernet communication. Podcasting as a platform has broadly progressed into a popular resource for communication, including advancing knowledge, science, and medicine through research dissemination. First, there is evidence to indicate that podcasting has evolved into a "second wave" as an effective tool to be used in academia and that it can help disseminate research findings to reach other scholars in the field. However, there is also a growing body of literature to indicate it is being used more frequently to communicate, tapping into information that is primarily generated through scholarly work to reach a broader and more general audience. The purpose of this paper is to examine the following research question: How effective is the use of podcast technology for academic research dissemination, research communication, and promotion? This paper also took into account some podcasts representing research, notably VIEW to the U produced by the Office of the Vice-Principal, Research at University of Toronto Mississauga. Importation in fictional discourse is the phenomenon by which audiences include information in the story over and above what is explicitly stated by the narrator. This paper argues that importation is distinct from generation, the phenomenon by which truth in fiction may outstrip what is made explicit, and draws a distinction between fictional truth and fictional records. The latter comprises the audience's picture of what is true according to the narrator. The paper argues that importation into fictional records operates according to principles that also govern ordinary conversation. An account of fictional records as a species of common ground information is proposed. Two sources of importation are described in detail, presupposition accommodation and conversational implicatures. It is shown that presuppositions are both mandatorily imported and mandatorily generated. By contrast, conversational implicatures are neither mandatorily imported nor mandatorily generated. The paper distinguishes conversational implicatures from contextual inferences. In this paper, a BPNN (BP neural network) model is selected to study the comprehensive evaluation of tourism competitiveness of smart tourism cities, and the software is used to realize the simulation of the comprehensive evaluation system of tourism competitiveness of smart tourism cities, which more comprehensively and objectively reflects the level of comprehensive competitiveness of each city. It is believed that there are some problems in Shaanxi regional cultural communication, such as insufficient exploration of content resources, insufficient communication channels, and low audience awareness, hoping to provide ideas and reference for further exploring the promotion of cultural communication power. Heritage science is an interdisciplinary field and successful heritage science research by necessity involves interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers with different disciplinary backgrounds and professional experience. Successful interdisciplinary research is challenging, and many issues have been identified both within and outside heritage science. However, within heritage science there has never been an attempt to do an in-depth study of how communication in interdisciplinary research works in practice. This paper aims to address this gap by providing an in-depth exploration of a case study. We present the analysis of the transcribed recording of a five-hour workshop and follow-up interviews with the workshop participants that took place within the framework of a collaborative heritage science research project. The analysis looks in detail at the dynamics of communication in the context of this meeting, identifying the main topics of conversation and the nature of the transitions between them. We discuss the way in which researchers use different physical scales when thinking about heritage material degradation. We identify key features of interdisciplinary research such as the sense of community and the use of language. Recommendations and insights for future practice are presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Framing, a prominent communication theory, is often lamented as a fractured paradigm, leading some to offer radical changes to its conceptualization, operationalization, and application. Using a meta-theoretical and computational approach, we analyze three decades of framing research to examine academic silos, specializations, the canon's formation, gender inequalities, authors' origins, countries studied, and methods used in framing research. Instead of silos, our analysis of 5,291 papers and over 170,000 citations identified specializations formed around a core of canonic texts. While framing research has become more diverse over the years, males affiliated with U.S. institutions still predominately author canonical works. Results reject the isolated-silos hypothesis in favor of a view of framing as a bridging networked paradigm, coalescing around core assumptions, definitions, and approaches. This paper used communication theory of resilience (CTR) and high-reliability organization (HRO) theory to investigate the influence of resilience processes on disruption management outcomes (DMOs) at both the individual and team levels and at two points in time. Perceptions of individual and team stress, efficacy, and performance were examined longitudinally in surveys with working adults (N = 192, 151). Results indicated (a) communicative resilience was significantly related to improvements in DMOs at time 1 (T1), (b) highly-reliable organizing was significantly related to improvements in DMOs for individuals and teams at both collection times, and that (c) high-reliability organizing practices were generally more predictive of positive DMOs than communicative resilience; however, the two forms of resilience are compatible and complementary. This study analyses the thematic and conceptual structure of the Spanish scientific production published in Emerging Sources Citation Index (Web of Science) journals. In this way, the aim is to identify the closest links between concepts and terms based on the co-occurrence of keywords used by the authors of the papers analysed, and also to point out the theoretical foundations that exist in the discipline through the co-citation relationships of articles in the bibliography of the documents in the sample. Finally, these results were compared with those obtained from the analysis of Spanish scientific production in Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). To achieve these objectives, a network analysis of the co-occurrence of keywords and co-citation of references in articles published in Communication journals between 2015 and 2021 in ESCI (N = 3,559) and SSCI (N = 1,738) with at least one author linked to a Spanish institution was carried out. The results point to similar structural cohesion values and to a thematic and methodological similarity between both sets observed. There is a marked tendency towards quantitative studies on new technologies. While in SSCI there is an almost absolute dominance of Journalism studies, in ESCI there is a greater diversity of other disciplines such as Audiovisual Communication or Advertising. In modern warfare, achieving strikes against military targets commonly involves utilizing methods such as fire coverage and missile precision guidance. While effective, fire coverage requires significant ammunition support, and missiles can be costly. Therefore, an intelligent strike solution can be an effective way to address these challenges. The inter-cannonball wireless communication network provides a solid foundation for inter-cannonball networking and joint strikes. The synergy improves the strike's range and precision, ensuring own safety and destroying the enemy's core with success. In this paper, the reliability of inter-cannonball group communication is studied. The vast array of activities and short striking distance of cannonballs make wireless networking between cannonballs a technological challenge. For this unique communication environment, the network of cannonballs is discussed, the self-organizing structure model of the network is proposed, the corresponding node topology is established, the protocol framework of inter-cannonball communication is presented, and the simulation parameters of the communication network are set. On this premise, discrete event simulation is performed by using the OPNET program to validate the impact of failure rate and node movement speed on the inter-cannonball network communication reliability. And the main performance indices of the inter-cannonball communication system are derived. The simulation results indicate that it can maintain basic communication stability, with wireless LAN delays of less than 100 ms, even when the node failure rate reaches 20%. The simulation verification method, on the other hand, overcomes the limitations of the real environment, optimizes the design phase, reduces research costs, and accelerates the development of intelligent cannonballs. The application of ICT offers excellent possibilities for empowering stakeholders and establishing appropriate communication between research and extension systems. This paper attempts to document and analyze selected ICT initiatives of three Agricultural Research Institutes in Telangana. Nudge Theory, is employed to identify specific nudges in this ICT initiatives of Research and development institutions. A relatively new concept, Nudge theory proposes positive reinforcement and indirect suggestions as ways to influence behavior. These are simple, low-cost interventions that alter behavior in predictable ways. A descriptive research design was adopted for the study. This article aims to discuss what we call environmental opacity, a condition of mobile instant messaging services (MIMS) that operates on the basis of end-to-end encryption systems. Utilizing WhatsApp as a specific example, the article presents two fundamental dilemmas around which some issues concerning transparency are mobilized when it comes to digital private communication. The first of them relates to how end-to-end encryption has simultaneously become an asset and a problem for democratic environments; on the one hand, protecting users’ privacy, and on the other, allowing for the circulation of misinformation and harmful content. The second dilemma deals with how this environment of opacity impacts the ethics and transparency of scholarly research focused on WhatsApp and other MIMSs. The paper also reviews an extensive body of studies that discuss the political uses of WhatsApp in different dimensions, and argues that emerging countries with large user bases, such as Brazil and India, have experienced a series of negative effects after the adoption of WhatsApp by politically oriented groups. We conducted a meta-analytic study of recent (2009 to 2020) information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D) research in the field of development communication. Our aim was to explore the conceptualization of participation in the context of ICTs and globalization in contemporary scholarly discourse. We found that most studies published during this period evinced a technological deterministic discourse regarding the process of social change, privileging modernization and neoliberal modes of development. In such contexts, participation has often been conceptualized in terms of invitations to 'access' (first-level of participation) and 'empowerment' (second-level of participation) at the local level. Despite increasing concern regarding global digital inequalities, research that approaches participation in terms of claims to 'social justice' (third-level of participation) associated with global forces has been limited. We found, however, that research emerging from the communication and media disciplines have shown skepticism regarding the dominant trends. The vigorous development of communication technology, especially the development of wireless network communication technology, has accelerated its informatization process in more and more industrial applications. In the field of monitoring and detection applications, the many advantages of wireless network transmission technology provide an important reference for high-quality compaction monitoring. Engineering practice shows that the construction technology of asphalt pavement is the ultimate guarantee of engineering quality. It is important to recognize that pavement performance is greatly influenced by interface bonding condition and interface failure can reduce the serviceability of pavements rather than their overall structural lifetime. This paper presents a laboratory test to investigate the bonding tensile performance between asphalt layers by tensile testing. The test methods and devices for determining the bond regarding tensile testing are summarized as follows. Different interface conditions have been analyzed herein: 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6 kg/m2 with corresponding emulsified asphalt (MA) and SBS-modified MA. It is found that the stress-strain relationship of tensile testing for interface bonding is similar with low-carbon steels and it can be categorized into four zones. The results of tensile strength and damage displacement are discussed which are key parameters in describing the interface bonding condition and evaluating pavement performance. Applied communication interventions call for detailed knowledge of the scene and the cultural assumptions that inform the communication taking place. This paper shows how Cultural Discourse Analysis (CuDA) was used to study the practice of 'conversation' in English language learners (ELLs) groups at a public library in the Western United States. The analysis demonstrated that 'conversation' is a culturally specific practice requiring elucidation. This led to the design of storytelling workshops that helped participants improve their language skills and cultural knowledge. Data were collected in a three-phase project: (1) a preliminary ethnography(2) a design phase to create a strategic plan for addressing concerns, and (3) an applied communication intervention consisting of storytelling workshops for ELLs. The paper provides a model for conducting applied communication research using an ethnographic, culture-centered approach, and demonstrates the value of storytelling as a practice for improving English language education. Considering the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, scholars were encouraged to cease collocated meetings. Many researchers have turned to remote collaboration to continue group-based projects. This paper focuses on the structure, processes, and outcomes that a group of physically distanced, embedded researchers used to collaborate across Canada to produce research outputs prior to the pandemic. The intent of this paper is to provide an overview of mechanisms that can facilitate meaningful and productive remote collaboration using online and digital technologies as a feasible and effective alternative mode of communication for research teams. Visible light communication (VLC) has contributed new unused spectrum in addition to the traditional radio frequency communication and can play a significant role in wireless communication. The adaptation of VLC technology enhances wireless connectivity both in indoor and outdoor environments. Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication has been an efficient technique for increasing wireless communications system capacity and performance. With the advantages of MIMO techniques, VLC can achieve an additional degree of freedom. In this paper, we systematically perform a survey of the existing work based on MIMO VLC. We categorize the types of different MIMO techniques, and a brief description is given. Different problem-solving approaches are given in the subsequent sections. This article describes how the Austrian-American sociologist Paul F. Lazarsfeld and his Bureau of Applied Social Research applied a consistent bundle of findings--about the interplay of mass media and personal influence--to sharply different contexts. From the late 193 0s through to the early 1950s, Lazarsfeld stressed a stable set of social-psychological conditions that complicate media persuasion, which, however, could still be effective if paired with face-to-face campaigns. He developed the claim, first, with the aim of promoting educational radio. At the outbreak of war in Europe, Lazarsfeld and the Bureau moved to apply the findings to domestic morale and propaganda. In the immediate postwar years, Lazarsfeld redirected the Bureau's energies towards domestic-facing social problems, retrofitting his personal-influence framework to the promotion of peace and tolerance. With the Cold War, finally, Lazarsfeld reverted to a martial posture, as social progress gave sudden way to psychological warfare. Thus, the paper describes a fourstage seesaw pattern: persuasion for social ends in the first and third periods, succeeded in both cases by war service. The Bureau's communication research in the century's middle-third is, the paper argues, a case study in the plasticity of social knowledge--variation around a stable theme.
