Orientation: South African history, among other things, demanded reforms in higher education institutions (HEIs), and the goal of transforming HEIs was to fulfil the demands of the new order brought about by democracy in the country. Research purpose: The purpose of the study is to investigate how a strategic plan of a University in South Africa can be supported using a performance management system (PMS). Motivation for the study: When examining the university’s achievements, particularly the gains of the past strategic plans, the study found that there is no evidence of successes or failures, especially for Strategic Plans 2008–2017 and 2015–2019. Research approach/design and method: To achieve the stated purpose, the study employed a document analysis approach. Main findings: The study found that the merger of the university’s legacy institutions was never fully realised, and the University has currently reimagined itself and developed the Strategic Plan 2020–2030; however, the delay of the PMS implementation is regarded as a weakness in this study. Practical/managerial implications: The study recommends a conceptual framework that demonstrates how at the organisational level, academic PMS should be designed and implemented after discovered that a delay in PMS implementation can impair the achievement of the Strategic Plan. Contribution/value-add: The study contributes by recommending that core university policies should serve as a basis for and be consistently applied as a component of an all-encompassing PMS policy. Meaning, a comprehensive PMS policy will help to link appropriate policies for the shared goal, which is to encourage excellent performance.

The working systems of organizations/institutions have undergone continuous transformations over the years for various reasons. Researchers have continually strived to find effective solutions/appropriate work systems to sustain an individual's performance in spite of the challenging working/business environment. The global pandemic Covid-19 prompted a rethinking of organizational work practices across sectors. Work from home (WFH) became a key component of continuing the organization's working system. This paper specifies the following six factors that may moderate the effectiveness of a work-from-home setting on individual performance such as dedication, disposition, determination, configuration, collaboration, and coordination. The paper uses self-determination theory (SDT) to develop a conceptual framework for WFH-individual performance, which specifies dedication, disposition, and determination as intrinsic motivators, while configuration, collaboration, and coordination as extrinsic motivators. Logistics 4.0 is a recognised lever for improving efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability in logistics processes. Of these, the increasingly complex area of transport plays a key role in companies, as it directly impacts costs and service level. This paper investigates how Logistics 4.0 affects the design and configuration of the transportation process, so that companies can exploit the related benefits and create value. Using a systematic literature review, this study provides a framework for Logistics 4.0 in transportation, which includes the process dimensions to be taken into account when designing such a process. A maturity model complements the framework, which presents the configuration options for each process dimension in an evolutionary path from low to high implementation level. This paper is original in that it takes a novel process perspective, crucial for supporting the implementation of Logistics 4.0 in transportation, and discusses the associated opportunities for companies. Learning and innovation networks for sustainable agriculture (LINSA) are considered drivers of innovation towards a more sustainable agri-food system. However, sustaining long-term funding remains a challenge for many networks. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive conceptualization of how funding relates to LINSA continuation and suggests a classification of relevant funding instruments. Being purely conceptual, this paper combines perspectives of strategic management and nonprofit finance with empirical insights from innovation network literature to develop a conceptual framework on LINSA funding. The conceptual framework suggests that thriving LINSA require both an appropriate funding mix, which corresponds with the benefits provided, and an anticipatory utilization of financial resources to build and maintain relevant intangible resources. The availability of funding instruments which incorporate these findings is crucial for successful LINSA. The conceptual framework provides guidance to practitioners and policy makers who reflect on appropriate strategies and instruments for LINSA funding. By integrating perspectives from different disciplines, namely the resource-based view and the benefits theory of nonprofit finance, this paper contributes to an increased understanding of funding in network organizations. Objectives To identify design features of the CHIME conceptual framework of mental health recovery which are associated with high rates of citation. Research Design and Methods Systematic review of all citations of the Connectedness, Hope, Identity, Meaning, and Empowerment (CHIME) framework of mental health recovery. Papers citing CHIME were screened and extracted from three citation databases. Citation content analysis was used to investigate associations between nine CHIME design features. Citations were investigated across six forms of visibility: all citations; Anglophone vs non-Anglophone; academic vs non-academic; academic discipline; professional group; and clinical population. Results There were 915 eligible documents identified. Six CHIME framework design features met predefined thresholds for high levels of influence: (i) using a systematic review methodology for development, (ii) adopting a memorable acronym, (iii) having disaggregable components, and being unaligned to a (iv) particular discipline (i.e., transdisciplinary), (v) professional group, or (vi) diagnostic population. Documents from Anglophone countries were more likely to cite CHIME with reference to transprofessional (X2=3.96, df=1, p=0.05) and ethnicity sub-group analysis (p=0.039) design features than non-Anglophone documents. Non-academic documents were more likely to cite the acronym design feature than academic papers (X2=5.73, df=1, p=0.01). Public Health-related publications were more likely to cite CHIME within a trans-diagnostic framework (X2=16.39, df=1, p<0.001) than other disciplines. Conclusions The influence and impact of conceptual frameworks for recovery are increased when the framework is underpinned by a systematic review, includes disaggregable components which can be summarized using a memorable acronym, and when the framework is transdisciplinary, trans-professional, and trans-diagnostic. Globally, development projects faced severe problems because of various forms of corruption issues in the construction industry. Studies showed that anti-corruption agencies help to mitigate corrupt practices. However, there is a scarcity of studies regarding agencies' role on construction projects. Therefore, this paper investigated the moderating effect of the role of anti-corruption agencies as the moderating effect on the relationship between construction corruption forms and public projects delivery in Nigeria. SmartPLS was employed to analyse the collated data from the 450 respondents across Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria. Findings show that anti-corruption agencies role would enhance cost value, better performance, and quality of public projects delivery in Nigeria. This paper recommends a further empirical study to test and validate the developed framework across the country. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to systematically examine and organize the literature that has explored the effects of several environmental conditions (ECs) on mergers and acquisitions (M&As), in particular highlighting the increasing role of protectionism. Design/methodology/approach: The systematic literature review methodology was applied for the purpose of identifying, analyzing and interrelating specific ECs that affect M&As, thereby underlining and elucidating the requisite role of protectionism. Specifically, this research is based on 51 methodically selected peer-reviewed articles published from 1991 to 2020. Findings: The research summarizes and assesses the current state of relevant literature through comprehensive and coherent descriptive and thematic analysis. The proposed conceptual framework allows us to recognize the connections between M&As and external conditions, highlighting varying degrees of study and in-depth analysis across the different areas under consideration. Originality/value: This study contributes to original and significant knowledge, by developing a conceptual framework that descriptively classifies existing knowledge; by defining refining and explicating the theoretical foundations for scholars to build on; by identifying the research gaps and proposing effective avenues for impactful further research; and by presenting practitioners and policymakers with a practical guide to implementation. Purpose: This paper aims to present a literature review on the emerging field of employee moonlighting, which refers to holding more than one job at a time. It also attempts to integrate the literature on employee moonlighting and present the related research themes. Design/methodology/approach: This is a systematic literature review (SLR) using the basic guidelines of SLR. A search string is designed, and the prominent database is searched. The results are screened based on self-designed inclusion and exclusion criteria. The qualitative analysis of selected 89 research studies uses inductive thematic analysis and proposes a framework. Findings: The outcome of the present study consists of a conceptual framework, themes and sub-themes related to employee moonlighting, propositions, and the pictorial representation of the overall outcome. The four key themes that emerged are determinants and traits of moonlighting intentions, the impact of moonlighting on employer and employee, policy, and economic implications, respectively. Originality/value: The study provides insight into the factors that lead to moonlighting intentions and activity. The managers can understand and analyze these factors and can formulate policies to streamline the moonlighting activity with the organizational goals and for the company's benefit. The digital transformation of enterprises has become an inevitable trend. Conducting a bibliometric analysis of the literature on the digital transformation of enterprises and exploring the current status of digital transformation will provide valuable references and suggestions for enterprises. Both bibliometric analysis and literature review methods are utilized in this study. Among the bibliometric analysis tools are HistCite and CiteSpace. This study finds that Parida V and Technology Forecasting and Social Change are the most prolific authors and journals on enterprise digital transformation, respectively. The USA has the most publications, and Copenhagen Business School is the most influential institution. Three stages are shown by the citation mapping: the budding stage (before 2014), the system formation stage (2015–2019), and the diversified development stage (2020–present). Based on keyword co-occurrence analysis and emergent keyword analysis, this study constructs a conceptual framework for enterprise digital transformation in four aspects: digital technology adoption, digital dynamic capabilities, digital innovation orientation, and digital transformation performance. This study provides a systematic overview of enterprise digital transformation research, establishes a conceptual framework for enterprise digital transformation, and provides certain theoretical insights to steer corresponding practical activities. The preservation of historic structures is a complex and evolving field that requires a delicate balance between traditional methods and modern technology. This paper presents a conceptual framework for integrating terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) into the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS), bridging the gap between the past and the future. By examining the historical context of the HABS and the emerging potential of TLS, the paper explores the feasibility, effectiveness, and methodological considerations for incorporating this advanced technology into the standard heritage building documentation practice. The research is structured into four main chapters, each addressing a critical aspect of the integration process, from the proposal of the study to the development of guidelines for TLS data acquisition, processing, and management. In recent years, companies have been under increasing pressure from consumers, grassroots and community organizations, governments, and shareholders to develop and practice sustainable business practices. Academic and corporate interest in sustainable supply chain management has risen considerably in recent years. This can be seen in the number of papers published. This paper aims to systematically investigate the discipline of supply chain management (SCM) within the context of sustainability. The two concepts are increasingly aligned, and sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) represents an evolving field where they explicitly interact. The study proposes a conceptual framework to classify various factors along the triple bottom-line pillars of sustainability issues in the context of supply chains. The findings indicate that the existing literature is primarily focused on individual sustainability and supply chain dimensions rather than taking a more integrated approach. Also, the economic benefits of developing a sustainable supply chain for an organization are discussed in addition to specific features of sustainable supply chains and limitations of existing research; this should stimulate further research. Purpose: Performance in virtual teams, which faces cultural and demographic differences, is a relevant phenomenon that has been widely investigated in recent decades, but with opportunities in exploring other levels of analysis as individual and project. This current research aims to understand how multicultural virtual teams affect individual, team and project performance. Design/methodology/approach: The authors conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis to capture 273 papers from the Web of Science (WoS) database using a snowball approach. In a second approach, the authors selected 130 papers to conduct a content analysis. Findings: The authors presented a longitudinal overview regarding the adoption of virtual teams in project management (PM) literature. A conceptual framework was proposed to explore the relationship between multicultural virtual teams and performance with three levels of analysis: individual, teams and project. The authors contributed with research hypotheses to be explored in future empirical studies not only at the team perspective but also at the project and individual levels. The thematic analysis suggested that the literature focus has shifted from hard to soft aspects faced by virtual teams. Social identity/categorization theory was the most prominent theory in this body, but it is not fully explored in PM literature. Other opportunities of future studies are to understand the impact of cultural diversity, the sense of belongingness, the project life cycle and the development of a knowledge management program. Originality/value: The authors developed a 3-level conceptual framework for future empirical studies and demonstrated that cultural differences are mainly approached at the national level in the literature, bringing suggestions for future empirical research. Grain warehousing contributes persistent environmental effects in the food supply chain because of its long-term storage feature and distribution requirements. Thus, it has attracted a number of interdisciplinary researchers to the investigations of green grain warehousing (GGW) over the past decades. This paper presents a valuable comprehensive literature review on the existing publications on this topic via bibliometric analysis and systematic review based on 37 papers obtained from three common international academic databases, namely Web of Science, Scopus, and EBSCOhost. We concluded a framework of existing literature with proposing three macro-themes (energy-saving in transporting, environmental harmony, and green deinsectization) as well as a classification of commonly used methods. The results revealed that (1) the increase in research interests over years was found; (2) there are differences in the attention of GGW among countries. Most of the scholars from developing countries focused more on the green operational technologies or strategies, while most of the scholars from developed countries placed their research focuses on keeping grain quality and developing environment-friendly deinsectization approaches with low emission or chemical alternatives; (3) grain quality started to become the most popular hotspot in recent years; (4) the researchers tended to use more comprehensive methodologies or combined methods to conduct their works. Accordingly, we proposed potential research directions. A growing number of studies on students' intercultural interactions and learning in higher education contexts have placed cosmopolitanism and agency at the centre of conceptual and empirical inquiry. The concept of 'cosmopolitan agency' has been proposed as a hallmark of intercultural relationships, such as friendships, between international and domestic university students, which are found difficult to develop in many countries. However, the literature has not established the conditions necessary for the (non-)emergence of this student agency. This paper fills this knowledge gap by presenting an ecological and person-in-context conceptual framework of cosmopolitan agency in intercultural student interactions on campus and beyond. Drawing on multidisciplinary literature (e.g. higher education, psychology, sociology, cosmopolitanism, urban and disability studies), the paper submits a theoretical proposal that cosmopolitan agency (as present practice) emerges at the dynamic experiential interface between cosmopolitan capital (as an individual resource built on past experience) and affordances in convivial proximity (as the environment triggering future projection). This proposal is elaborated through the empirical illustration of four (i.e. amicable, critical, latent and inactive) states of cosmopolitan agency that manifest different forms of intercultural interactions. The paper is expected to advance theoretical inquiry into the issues of power, privilege, morality and reflexivity in students' engagement in intercultural interactions, and to support a third option for interactions between passive presence and fully-fledged relationships. Previous studies revealed that Building Information Modeling (BIM) has the potential to reduce project uncertainties, design errors, change orders, and delays, which might facilitate achieving effective dispute management in the construction industry. However, research into the adoption of BIM to holistically enhance effective dispute management is limited compared with the plentiful BIM research in the construction management field. This study explored whether and how BIM adoption can help minimize the chronic problem of dispute in the industry. A structured critical literature review method was employed in this study which involved 102 papers in the fields of BIM and construction disputes. Nine main common causes of disputes (e.g., change order, design error, site problem, contractual problem, payment problem, and delay) and eight primary benefits of BIM application (e.g., improved visual management, design optimization, improved information management, and enhanced collaboration) were identified. A conceptual framework was developed illustrating the mechanism of adopting BIM to facilitate dispute management in the overall life cycle of construction projects. The framework indicates that design error, delay, and change order can be reduced most significantly by most of the BIM benefits, whereas improved visual management, improved information management, and enhanced collaboration are three of the most frequently adopted BIM benefits that can settle the majority of dispute causes. This study contributes to dispute management with a more holistic view of adopting BIM in the life cycle of construction projects, as illustrated in the conceptual framework. In addition, the identified common causes of disputes and primary benefits of BIM application are valuable for on future research in these two areas. The research findings are valuable for practitioners to obtain a holistic understanding of the two topics of dispute causes and BIM benefits, both independently and integrally. First, the identified common causes of disputes can be used by project managers to develop more-targeted strategies for reducing potential disputes in their projects. Second, the identified BIM benefits provide a comprehensive view of the advantages of BIM application for the clients, which will enable them to use BIM in their projects more proactively. Finally, and more importantly, the research findings indicated that BIM could be used to manage disputes in the global construction industry more effectively. The identified BIM features and other technologies or tools in dispute management present comprehensive results illustrating how to use BIM directly or indirectly for dispute management. In addition, the proposed framework is valuable for practitioners to find better solutions to prevent and control construction disputes via the application of BIM throughout the project life cycle.
