To perform a qualitative systematic review exploring the influencing factors within the surgical decision-making (SDM) processes following a breast cancer diagnosis in non-caucasian women globally. Qualitative systemic review following PRISMA guidelines. A comprehensive search strategy was applied to four databases. 5243 papers were screened using a composed inclusion and exclusion criteria resulting in 10 total papers to be included. These papers underwent JBI quality assessment and ConQual assessment to ensure strength in validation, reliability, and quality. Six main overarching themes relating to SDM were determined: fear, information, patient-doctor relationship, wellbeing, external influences, and culture. All ethnicities experienced fear in one way. Misinformation was widely experienced in concordance with either a lack of education (Iranian and Ghanian women) or language barriers (immigrant populations). Trust was overarching in all patient-doctor relationships, some being overshadowed by an authoritative dynamic in Ghanian and Iranian women. Well-being, both psychological and body image was noted in all but the Ghanian and Iranian women. Every ethnicity experienced external influences involving either others, time or cost. Lastly, cultural expectations and beliefs of the doctor was present in all native or immigrant Asian communities. The study identified several factors which were common between ethnicities, notably multifactorial fear, well-being factors, opinions and trust of others, and timing. Conversely, information availability and the nature of patient-doctor relationships varied widely between ethnicities. The study has identified some realistic and achievable focus areas for practice improvement, but also notes the challenges of changing long-established cultural norms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The latest data on teacher recruitment and retention in England shows that teacher supply is in a critical state, representing a substantial risk to the quality of education. Last year's initial teacher training (ITT) recruitment was below target in almost every secondary subject, while this year's applications data suggests significant improvements for the current cycle are unlikely. Meanwhile, little progress has been made on reducing high teacher workload since the pandemic, which has a strong impact on retention. This affirms that actions that are ambitious and radical, yet costeffective are urgently needed. The aim of the National Foundation for Educational Research's (NFER) annual series of Teacher Labour Market reports is to monitor the progress the school system in England is making towards meeting the teacher supply challenge. The report summarises new research and key trends in teacher recruitment, retention and working conditions and points towards policy actions that are likely to have the greatest impact on addressing the challenges. Artificial intelligence is being adopted across industries at an unprecedented pace. Alongside its posited benefits, AI also presents serious risks to society, making the implementation of normative frameworks to reduce these risks a global imperative. The UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI asserts that "AI actors should make all reasonable efforts to minimize and avoid reinforcing or perpetuating discriminatory or biased applications and outcomes throughout the life cycle of the AI system to ensure fairness of such systems". To date however, AI-based systems often perpetuate (and even scale and amplify) human, structural and social biases. These biases not only prove difficult to mitigate, but may also lead to harm at the individual, collective, or societal level. This study explores biases in three significant large language models (LLMs): OpenAI's GPT-2 and ChatGPT, along with Meta's Llama 2, highlighting their role in both advanced decision-making systems and as user-facing conversational agents. Across multiple studies, the brief reveals how biases emerge in the text generated by LLMs, through gendered word associations, positive or negative regard for gendered subjects, or diversity in text generated by gender and culture. The research uncovers persistent social biases within these state-of-the-art language models, despite ongoing efforts to mitigate such issues. The findings underscore the critical need for continuous research and policy intervention to address the biases that exacerbate as these technologies are integrated across diverse societal and cultural landscapes. The emphasis on GPT-2 and Llama 2 being open-source foundational models is particularly noteworthy, as their widespread adoption underlines the urgent need for scalable, objective methods to assess and correct biases, ensuring fairness in AI systems globally. Scholars have shown a special interest in discovering and studying the role of ethnic diversity and spatiality at the country and region levels. This study contributes to the theoretical debate on the spatial dynamics of ethnicities, with the aim of (1) determining the evolution of ethnic dynamics in post-communist Romania and (2) applying ethnic fractionalisation and polarisation indices. The study uses a mixed methods approach based on a descriptive statistics analysis and applies the fractionalisation and polarisation indices to Romania's NUTS-3 (i.e., county) level. The findings suggest that the ethnic spatial dynamics in post-communist Romania have shown a decrease in all ethnicities due to migration and low birth rates, with the exception of the Roma ethnicity, for whom the trend is increasing. Additionally, polarisation and fractionalisation indices have different evolutionary manifestations depending on the dynamics of the ethnic groups present in certain geographical areas. Although neither of the two analysed indices has witnessed profound change at the spatial level, these small changes in spatial and short-term ethnic diversity can help us advance knowledge about co-existence in ethnically diverse societies. Higher values of the two indices are obvious in several counties where ethnic Hungarians cohabitate with Romanians and other ethnicities. This discovery can inform policy-makers to implement more policies for the further peaceful co-existence of Hungarians, Romanians, and other ethnic groups in Transylvania and other western counties in Romania. Furthermore, as the population growth trend for the Roma ethnicity is upward, Romania has to implement proper policies and build better government infrastructure to counter social inequality against the Roma people. This will help curb potential conflicts between the Roma and other ethnic groups at the local level. Finally, as most ethnicities decreased in number in post-communist times, further attention needs to be paid to the erosion of ethnic diversity in Romania because this could have a negative impact on economic development, social trust, and democracy. Type 2 diabetes (T2D) associated health disparities among different ethnicities have long been known. Ethnic variations also exist in T2D related comorbidities including insulin resistance, vascular complications and drug response. Genetic heterogeneity, dietary patterns, nutrient metabolism and gut microbiome composition attribute to ethnic disparities in both manifestation and progression of T2D. These factors differentially regulate the rate of metabolism and metabolic health. Metabolomics studies have indicated significant differences in carbohydrate, lipid and amino acid metabolism among ethnicities. Interestingly, genetic variations regulating lipid and amino acid metabolism might also contribute to inter-ethnic differences in T2D. Comprehensive and comparative metabolomics analysis between ethnicities might help to design personalized dietary regimen and newer therapeutic strategies. In the present review, we explore population based metabolomics data to identify inter-ethnic differences in metabolites and discuss how (a) genetic variations, (b) dietary patterns and (c) microbiome composition may attribute for such differences in T2D. Introduction Today the maternal death of black women is four times than the maternal death of white women. A lot has been written about the physical health of black women during pregnancy and childbirth however the perinatal mental health of this group of women is less well researched. I wanted to investigate if black and ethnic minority women in the UK had the same access to perinatal mental health services. Objectives To explore how the access to perinatal mental health services vary between white British and non-white British women. Methods A literature review was conducted. Papers were selected based on their focus on perinatal mental health service access and differences in access based on ethnicities. Most research focused on the perinatal mental health service access of white British and non-white British groups of women. Results The literature review revealed that black African, Asian and minority white women had significantly lower access to community perinatal mental health services when compared to white British women. It was also found that that black African, Asian and minority White women had a higher percentage of involuntary admissions to psychiatric hospitals when compared to white British women. Conclusions The literature would suggest that there is less access to perinatal mental health for non-white British women. This suggested that the disparities that exist within perinatal physical health extend into perinatal maternal health. Disclosure No significant relationships.

Objectives: To evaluate the impact of Facial radiance or Glow on the perception of age (PA) and to assess which facial signs most influence PA. Material and Methods: The faces of 1058 differently aged women (18‐80 years) of six different ethnicities/countries (China, Japan, Korea, India, South Africa, and Brazil) were photographed under standard conditions. These allowed to focus on 20 different facial signs that were further graded by experts, using referential Atlases dedicated to facial aging. In each of the six countries, 100 local women were recruited as naïve panels to express their perceptions on Glow and Age on each full‐face photograph (blind coded) of the local studied woman. Results: A decreased Glow/Radiance appears clearly associated with an increased perceived age in all studied subjects, especially among Chinese, Japanese, and South African women. With regard facial signs, Skin texture (Wrinkles of all kinds), Ptosis/Sagging, and Pigmentation signs prevail in almost all women at the exception of South African women where Pigmentation signs and Cheek skin pores largely predominate in the perception of both Glow and PA. Pigmentation signs are of a very high weight among Chinese and Japanese women. Conclusion: Despite some collective agreements, the present study shows some specificities within the women of the six ethnicities/countries. PA, a core index of antiaging strategies, goes along with facial Glow in almost all studied women. The duller the facial skin, the older it is perceived. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To develop an A.I‐based automatic descriptor that detects and grades, from selfie pictures, 23 facial signs, hairs included, as a help to making‐up procedures. Material and Methods: The selfie images taken in very different conditions by 3326 women and men were used to create (90% of dataset) and validate (10% of dataset) a new algorithm architecture to appraise and grade 23 different facial signs such as lips, nose, eye color, eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair color as defined by makeup artists. Each selfie image was annotated by 12 experts and defined references to train Artificial Intelligence (A.I)‐based algorithm. Results: As some the 23 signs present a continuous or discontinuous feature, these were analyzed by two different statistical approaches. The results provided by the automatic descriptor system were not only in good agreement with the expert's assessments but were even found of a better precision and reproducibility. This automatic descriptor system has proven a good and robust accuracy despite the very variable conditions in the acquisition of selfie pictures. Conclusion: Such automatic descriptor system seems providing a valuable help in making‐up procedures and may extend to other activities such as Skincare or Haircare. Globally, the number of minority ethnic groups in high-income countries is increasing. However, despite this demographic change, most national food consumption surveys are not representative of ethnically diverse populations. In consequence, many ethnic minorities' dietary intakes are underreported, meaning that accurate analysis of food intake and nutrient status among these groups is not possible. This systematic review aims to address these gaps and understand differences in dietary intakes and influencers of dietary habits of ethnic groups worldwide. A systematic search was conducted through three databases (Pubmed, Web of Science and Scopus) and manual searches, generating n = 56,647 results. A final search of these databases was completed on 13 September 2021, resulting in a total of 49 studies being included in this review. Overall, food group intakes—particularly fruit, vegetable and fish intake—and diet quality scores were seen to differ between ethnicities. Overall Black/African American groups were reported to be among the poorest consumers of fruit and vegetables, whilst Asian groups achieved high diet quality scores due to higher fish intakes and lower fat intakes compared to other groups. Limited data investigated how nutrient intakes, dietary and meal patterns compared between groups, meaning that not all aspects of dietary intake could be compared. Socioeconomic status and food availability appeared to be associated with food choice of ethnic groups, however, confounding factors should be considered more closely. Future work should focus on comparing nutrient intakes and meal patterns between ethnicities and investigate potential targeted interventions which may support adherence to food-based dietary guidelines by all ethnic groups.
