Thermal energy storage can contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, motivating the applications in aerospace, construction, textiles and so on. Phase change materials have been investigated extensively in the field of high-performance intelligent thermoregulating fabrics for energy storage. Advances toward fibers or fabrics for thermo regulation are developed, but leakage of phase change medium is a concern when directly coated or filled with fibers or fabrics. Thus, different spinning methods have appeared to integrate phase change materials into copolymer fiber to prepare phase change fiber. The present review has been divided into three parts and first deals with spinning technologies such as wet spinning, melt spinning, electrostatic spinning, and centrifugal spinning with the thermal properties and mechanical properties of phase change fiber. Among them, the phase change medium loading in the phase change fiber with wet spinning is up to 70 wt.%, while the fiber strength is below 2.12 cN/dtex. In contrast, phase change fiber prepared by melt spinning achieves a breaking strength of up to 37.31 cN/dtex, but with an enthalpy of only 8.48 kJ/kg. Considering electrostatic spinning, not only enthalpies are satisfactory but the fiber diameters are mostly below 1000 nm, matching with the softness requirement for fabric. Moreover, centrifugal spinning enables efficient production of phase change fiber of large enthalpy by controlling spinning parameters such as rotational speed and spinning fluid concentration. The second part reports that the thermal management effects of different intelligent thermo regulating fabrics are evaluated by designed experiments or simulations to investigate further the more comfortable conditions of thermal comfort of humans. Simulation and experimental results show that the energy storage of smart fabrics extends the time duration of thermal comfort by more than 300 s. In the last part, multifunctional intelligent thermoregulating fabrics are systematically discussed, such as light and heat response, ultraviolet resistance, air permeability, and water resistance. Roller drafting, a key mechanical operation for attenuating slivers to a desired thickness, holds critical significance in the spinning processes of the textile industry. Within the drafting stage of spinning, the motion state of fibers is influenced by their intrinsic characteristics, the force applied, and the distribution of both fast-moving and slow-moving fibers. This research focused on man-made fibers, which are isometric, and studied their distributions in the roller drafting zone. In addition, the cut-off weighting method was incorporated to measure the fiber distributions in the drafting zone, the impact of drafting parameters on fiber distribution was discussed, and the associated fiber distribution curves were generated. Findings reveal that fiber distributions are highly affected by factors such as the fiber length, roller-setting, and draft ratio. Conversely, the input sliver linear density and doubling number exhibited negligible influence on the fiber distribution. The total fiber distribution curve appeared as a dichotomy, including a horizontal line and an oblique line. Agro-based weedy plants are ubiquitous globally and adversely impact the environment, agriculture, and human health. Thus, it would be a noteworthy accomplishment to mitigate the impact of these inescapable plants by repurposing them for beneficial ends. The present study employed the utilization of an agro-based weedy plant, namely "Urena lobata," to manage agro-based waste effectively. For the first time, this study investigates the feasibility of manufacturing Urena lobata (UL) blend yarn in the ring spinning system. The Urena lobata (UL) fiber, which is naturally extracted, is a bast fiber with a long staple length. This fiber is processed into staple form and subsequently blended with cotton and polyester fibers. In this research, the maximum ratio of Urena lobata (UL) fiber in the form of chemically treated and untreated fiber was 25%, a homogenous blend with cotton and polyester to spun blend yarn using the conventional ring spinning system. Chemically treated and untreated 75/25% cotton/Urena lobata (CO/UL) and 75/25% Polyester/Urena lobata (PO/UL) blend yarns were characterized by their unevenness (U%), irregularity index (I), imperfection index (IPI), hairiness, and bundle yarn strength. Furthermore, optical microscopic images were utilized to observe the morphological characteristics of the fiber structure in the longitudinal view of the yarn. The Chemically treated Urena lobata (UL) blend yarn exhibited superior outcomes in comparison to untreated Urena lobata (UL) blend yarn. The chemical treatment of the blended yarn resulted in performance levels that fell within acceptable ranges. Yarn engineering is a long-standing problem for the cotton spinning industry as the functional relationship between fiber and yarn properties is quite complex. The objective of this research is to develop a hybrid machine learning-based prescriptive yarn engineering system that can foretell the properties of cotton fiber for achieving desired yarn properties. Artificial neural network (ANN) and genetic algorithm (GA) were used to develop the predictive model for cotton yarn properties and optimization of cotton fiber properties, respectively. Two separate ANN models were developed for predicting yarn tenacity and yarn unevenness. The functional relationships approximated by the ANN models were used to formulate the fitness function for GA. The validation of the ANN-GA system demonstrated good accuracy as cotton fiber strength, length and length uniformity were predicted with very good accuracy (mean error < 5%). This paper reported the process of extraction and characterization of the properties of natural fiber from the leaves of the Furcraea foetida plant. The water retting method was used to extract the fiber. The fiber properties obtained were used to analyze the ability of fiber to be spun into yarn for textile application. A bundle of Furcraea foetida fibers consist of many individual fibers. The longitudinal view of the fiber cells show up as long cylindrical tubes and the cross-section of fibers were an irregular, polygonal shape. The tensile strength of the Furcraea foetida fibers was 3 g/denier. The elongation at break of the Furcraea foetida fibers was 8.61%. The fineness of the Furcraea foetida fibers was 8.3 tex. The average fiber length was 70.8 cm. The Furcraea foetida fibers were hygroscopic fibers with 8.48% moisture regain. The coefficient of friction of the Furcraea Foetida fibers was 0.053. The properties of the fiber showed that the Furcraea foetida fiber has potential to be spun into yarn. Disposal of large volumes of textile waste is an escalating problem for textile industries. Sisal spinning industry is the one of the textile industries releasing large volumes of textile waste in the landfills. The rising costs, and reduction of available space together with increasing stringent environmental measures are making burying and land filling of textile waste, a declining option. This study therefore explores recycling options where the potential of using sisal fiber waste produced during sisal spinning processes as raw materials for the production of paper pulp was investigated. Sampling was done at 21stCentury Holdings Limited allocated at Chang'ombe industrial street Dar es Salaam mainly dealer of sisal yarns production. Materials were prepared and cut into small pieces of about ½ inches to reduce the fiber into unit lengths so as to achieve pulping required performance. Pulping process was achieved through Soda pulping techniques with two different effective alkali charges (EA-20% and EA-24%) for 240 minutes under maximum temperature 140°C, and liquor to fiber ratio 4:1by using Mathis Labomat dyeing Machine. The kappa number obtained was (25.5, 34.5) for material treated under EA 24% and EA 20% respectively, Percentage pulp yield were (47.1, 54.4) for EA 24% and EA20% pulp respectively. Freeness (630CFS, 555CSF) after refining at 4500 rpm. Finally, the resulting pulp was used for hand sheet making and the sheets were tested for their mechanical properties; Grammage (61.1, 61.1) g/m2, Tensile index (9.9, 22.3) Nm/g, Tear index (13.3, 17.4) Nm2/g, burst index (1.7, 3.7 and 1.6) kPa.m2/g and Elongation at break (2.02, 2.22) % for EA24% pulp, EA20% pulp respectively. This study (BSC) evaluates the application of a Balanced Scorecard, which was adopted in the early 1990s. Kaplan & Norton devised a method to assess the overall performance of Spinning mills in Dindigul District. This was accomplished through the use of a quantitative approach. A questionnaire was used to obtain data from selected spinning mills. of Dindigul District found on the Tamilnadu Spinning Mills Association. The four perspectives, namely customer, internal process, learning and growth, and monetary, were investigated. The findings indicate that indicators in the economic point of view for Spinning mills in Dindigul District only encompass the common financial standards (e.g., ROA, ROE). From a monetary standpoint, it shows that the key technique for spinning mills in Dindigul District is to reach their pre-determined profit goals. Spinning mills in Dindigul District have a moderate proclivity to try to improve their financial results. Spinning mills must also create their strategy based entirely on both monetary and non-financial indicators that are suited for them, due to limited resources and intense competition.however, this study provides an overview of BSC adaptability in spinning mills and underlines the need for more investigation. Automation and mass-production are two of the many limitations in the tissue engineering industry. Textile fabrication methods such as electrospinning are used extensively in this field because of the resemblance of the extracellular matrix to the fiber structure. However, electrospinning has many limitations, including the ability to mass-produce, automate, and reproduce products. For this reason, this study evaluates the potential use of a traditional textile method such as spinning. Apart from mass production, these methods are also easy, efficient, and cost-effective. This study uses bovine-derived collagen fibers to create yarns using the traditional ring spinning method. The collagen yarns are proven to be biocompatible. Enzymatic biodegradability was also confirmed for its potential use in vivo. The results of this study prove the safety and efficacy of the material and the fabrication method. The material encourages higher cell proliferation and migration compared to tissue culture-treated plastic plates. The interfacial structure and binding forces of polytrimethylene terephthalate/polyethylene terephthalate filament were investigated through the methods of Carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (13C-NMR), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and optical microscopy. When two molten polymers met during the spinning process, an interface layer between the PTT and PET components formed and played an important role in binding the two components together. When the blending time was sufficient, an ester-interchange reaction took place with the generation of the copolymer. The PET recrystallisation was observed in the DSC curve under the influence of entangled PTT molecular chains. The morphology of the cross-section and side view proved that the linear boundary line was short and weaker in binding without a chemical bond and molecular diffusion. Yarn quality influences both fabric production processes efficiency and export market. One method used to gauge competitiveness of an industry is to study its product quality. The aim of this research work is to evaluate the quality of Ethiopian textile spinning mills' 100% cotton carded ring spun yarns in terms of its evenness (coefficient of mass variation, CVm), imperfections (thick and thin places, neps), and tensile properties with USTER Statistics 2018. Five spinning mills (B3, A0, A2, A4, and K3) of 15N, 20Ne, 25Ne, 30Ne, 35Ne, and 40Ne nominal yarn counts have been selected for the study. The yarn evenness and imperfections were measured using USTER tester 5 and tensile using a STATIMAT tester. The USTER statistical results showed 20.3Ne (mill B3), 32Ne (mill A4), and 36.2Ne (mill A2) had better overall quality, respectively. It was observed that most selected spinning mills had low evenness, imperfections, yarn strength, and good yarn elongation. Tensile properties of A2 (32.85Ne and 36.2Ne) had fallen under 5% USTER statistics percentile which indicates excellent yarn strength. Generally, from studied mills, it was seen that 61.5% of cotton yarn CVm and thin places falls at above 95% and 15% of yarn tenacity falls at ≤5% of Uster statistical percentile. This study focuses on the impacts of the draft on the characteristics of MVS produced CVC blended yarn. The output of a finisher drawn sliver with a linear density of 3.54 ktex was converted into yarns of 18.45 tex (32 s/1 Ne) with the help of two separate delivery speeds: 350 and 410 m/min when possessing all constant spinning parameters. The properties of the yarn such as yarn anomaly, imperfections, tensile behaviour, and hairiness were investigated. The significance of independent variables and their relations with the physico- mechanical characteristics of CVC yarn was examined using two-way ANOVA at a 95% level of confidence. For the stability of composite fibre spinning, the difference in and distribution of the polymer melt velocity during the spinning are among the factors of importance. Based on the basic equation for the control of composite spinning dynamics, boundary conditions are identified and reported in this paper. A mathematical model for the symmetric and asymmetric distribution of the melt flow velocity in the microhole of the spinneret of the composite spinning assembly was developed. The spider silk fibers have unique high performance properties that make it a desirable model for artificial fibers and its performance under benign conditions has important implications for biomimicry. It has tensile strengths comparable to steel and some are nearly as elastic as rubber on a weight to weight basis. The spider spins its silk at ambient temperatures, low pressures and with water as solvent. Spiders are ectotherms and the ambient temperature affects the spinning speed and the mechanical and structural properties of the silk spun. The high cytocompatibility and low immunogenicity of spider silk fibers make them well suited for biomaterial products such as nerve conduits. Spider silk proteins have been shown to be soluble in ionic liquids, thus once soluble, they can be processed into new biomaterials such as films, gels, porous sponges, bone tissue engineering. The spider silk chains with a fixed molecular weight decreases exponentially with the UV irradiation time, since UV irradiation causes the chemical bonds in the protein chains to undergo cleavage. This paper reviews related literature on the spider silk spinning process, conditions and their effects on structure, mechanical properties of spider silk and its resistance to UV degradation.
