Machine translation is integral to international communication and extensively employed in diverse human-related applications. Despite remarkable progress, fairness issues persist within current machine translation systems. In this article, we propose FairMT, an automated fairness testing approach tailored for machine translation systems. FairMT operates on the assumption that translations of semantically similar sentences, containing protected attributes from distinct demographic groups, should maintain comparable meanings. It comprises three key steps: (1) test input generation, producing inputs covering various demographic groups; (2) test oracle generation, identifying potential unfair translations based on semantic similarity measurements; and (3) regression, discerning genuine fairness issues from those caused by low-quality translation. Leveraging FairMT, we conduct an empirical study on three leading machine translation systems–Google Translate, T5, and Transformer. Our investigation uncovers up to 832, 1,984, and 2,627 unfair translations across the three systems, respectively. Intriguingly, we observe that fair translations tend to exhibit superior translation performance, challenging the conventional wisdom of a fairness-performance tradeoff prevalent in the fairness literature. Automatic navigation based on dual-antenna real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning has been widely employed for unmanned agricultural machinery, whereas GNSS inevitably suffers from signal blocking and electromagnetic interference. In order to improve the reliability of an RTK-based navigation system in a GNSS-challenged environment, an integrated navigation system is preferred for autonomous navigation, which increases the complexity and cost of the navigation system. The information fusion of integrated navigation has been dominated by Kalman filter (KF) for several decades, but the KF cannot assimilate the known knowledge of the navigation context efficiently. In this paper, the geometric characteristics of the straight path and path-tracking error were employed to formulate the constraint measurement model, which suppresses the position error in the case of RTK-degraded scenarios. The pseudo-measurements were then imported into the KF framework, and the smoothed navigation state was generated as a byproduct, which improves the reliability of the RTK positioning without external sensors. The experiment result of the mobile vehicle automatic navigation indicates that the tracking error-constrained KF (EC-KF) outperforms the trajectory-constrained KF (TC-KF) and KF when the RTK system outputs a float or single-point position (SPP) solution. In the case where the duration of the SPP solution was 20 s, the positioning errors of the EC-KF and TC-KF were reduced by 38.50% and 24.04%, respectively, compared with those of the KF. Immunomodulation holds therapeutic promise against brain injuries, but leveraging this approach requires a precise understanding of mechanisms. We report that [CD8.sup.+][CD122.sup.+][CD49d.sup.lo] T regulatory-like cells ([CD8.sup.+] TRLs) are among the earliest lymphocytes to infiltrate mouse brains after ischemic stroke and temper inflammation; they also confer neuroprotection. TRL depletion worsened stroke outcomes, an effect reversed by [CD8.sup.+] TRL reconstitution. The CXCR3/CXCL10 axis served as the brain-homing mechanism for [CD8.sup.+] TRLs. Upon brain entry, [CD8.sup.+] TRLs were reprogrammed to upregulate leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) receptor, epidermal growth factor-like transforming growth factor (ETGF), and interleukin 10 (IL-10). LIF/LIF receptor interactions induced ETGF and IL-10 production in [CD8.sup.+] TRLs. While IL-10 induction was important for the Anti-inflammatory effects of [CD8.sup.+] TRLs, ETGF provided direct neuroprotection. Poststroke intravenous transfer of [CD8.sup.+] TRLs reduced infarction, promoting long-term neurological recovery in young males or aged mice of both sexes. Faradaic capacitive deionization (FCDI) with attractive ion‐capture capacity, outstanding durability, and potential compatibility in high‐salinity water has been recognized as the robust alternative to address the alarming freshwater scarcity. The further innovation of boosting electrode materials is the indispensable requisite for highly efficient FCDI application. Herein, a low‐crystalline nitrogen‐doped carbon quantum dots modified Mg2+‐pillar preintercalated V3O7 (i.e., NCQDs/Mg‐V3O7) heterostructure is assembled via an ingenious one‐spot hydrothermal avenue, and is investigated as the advanced FCDI electrode for desalination application. Taking advantages of the synergic effect of unique microstructure, improved electronic conductivity, and exceptional structural durability, the NCQDs/Mg‐V3O7 electrode delivers an admirable gravimetric adsorption capacity of 54.32 mg g−1 in a NaCl solution of 1500 mg L−1 and attractive cyclic durability. Further, density functional theory calculations verify the intense interface electron coupling interaction between tri‐components, enabling the significantly promoting Na+ capture capability. The synergy removal mechanism is clarified by ex‐situ X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and in‐situ Raman tests. Additionally, the average removal efficiency of hybrid electrode attains 93.75% in the simulated wastewater comprising the NaCl of 50 mg L−1 and diverse metal nitrates from 10 to 100 mg L−1 for each, certifying the great prospects for practical wastewater treatment. The purpose of this paper is to study the stability, radical scavenging activities, and bio‐safety of cysteine‐conjugated hyaluronic acid nanoparticles (Cys‐conj‐HA NPs). Additionally, the feasibility of utilizing these NPs as drug delivery systems is discussed. The structures of synthesized Cys‐conj‐HA polymers were analyzed using 1H nuclear magnetic spectrum (1H NMR) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectra. The stability, radical scavenging activity, and bio‐safety of fabricated Cys‐conj‐HA NPs were investigated. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) photograph illustrated that Cys‐conj‐HA NPs possessed spherical shapes with an average diameter of approximately 230 nm. Furthermore, these NPs exhibited high stability at temperatures of 4, 25, and 37°C. Notably, Cys‐conj‐HA NPs demonstrated significant free radical scavenging capabilities. The high cell viability observed indicated the absence of cytotoxicity from Cys‐conj‐HA NPs. Additionally, bio‐safety studies revealed that these NPs did not induce acute toxicity in the blood and viscera of cargo‐free NPs treated mice. Elisa assays indicated that there was no significant difference in the concentrations of interferon‐γ (INF‐γ) and tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α) between Cys‐conj‐HA NPs and normal saline (NS) treated mice (ns, p > 0.05), suggesting the absence of an inflammatory reaction caused by these NPs. Consequently, it can be concluded that Cys‐conj‐HA NPs are sufficiently safe to be employed as a vehicle for delivering oxidizing drugs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
