Traditional piezoelectric materials cause serious environmental and health issues because of their lead–containing substances, and thus lead–free piezoelectric ceramics would have many applications. In this study, we successfully prepared the lead–free ceramics (1- x) (K 0 · 48 Na 0 · 48 Li 0.04) (Nb 0 · 975 Sb 0.025)O 3 – x (Bi 0 · 5 Na 0.5) (Zr 0 · 8 Ti 0.2)O 3 ((1- x)KNLNS– x BNZT, x = 0, 0.005, 0.0075, 0.01, 0.015, 0.02 and 0.03) with rhombohedral–tetragonal (R–T) phase coexistence near room temperature, employing con–entional solid sintering. The minimum cell volume of the ceramics and R–T phase coexistence in them were achieved at a doping amount x = 0.01, which facilitated the optimal performance of the ceramics (d 33 ∼467 pC/N ± 14 pC/N, T c∼272 °C, ε r ∼1676, k p ∼0.42, where d 33 : piezoelectric constant; T c: Curie temperature; ε r : dielectric constant; k p : electromechanical coefficient). The ceramics exhibited microstructures with high density and low porosity and had a maximum relative density of 95.68 %. At x = 0.01, the ceramics exhibited a uniformly distributed small domain structures with nanodomains, accounting for their high-voltage electrical properties. Because these stable and reliable piezoelectric (1- x)KNLNS– x BNZT ceramics exhibit excellent electrical performance, they can replace lead–based materials. The direct solid–phase sintering method provides prospects for the large–scale application of the lead–free piezoelectric ceramics. Recently, there has been a strong interest in the minimum error entropy (MEE) criterion derived from information theoretic learning, which is effective in dealing with the multimodal non-Gaussian noise case. However, the kernel function is shift invariant resulting in the MEE criterion being insensitive to the error location. An existing solution is to combine the maximum correntropy (MC) with MEE criteria, leading to the MEE criterion with fiducial points (MEEF). Nevertheless, the algorithms based on the MEEF criterion usually require higher computational complexity. To remedy this problem, an improved MEEF (IMEEF) criterion is devised, aiming to avoid repetitive calculations of the a p o s t e r i o r i error, and an adaptive filtering algorithm based on gradient descent (GD) method is proposed, namely, GD-based IMEEF (IMEEF-GD) algorithm. In addition, we provide the convergence condition in terms of mean sense, along with an analysis of the steady-state and transient behaviors of IMEEF-GD in the mean-square sense. Its computational complexity is also analyzed. Simulation results demonstrate that the computational requirement of our algorithm does not vary significantly with the error sample number and the derived theoretical model is highly consistent with the learning curve. Abstract In this paper, an augmented (widely linear) complex Least Mean Kurtosis (WL-LMK) algorithm that uses the negated kurtosis of the phase angle error instead of the conventional magnitude error is proposed for robust frequency estimation of three-phase power systems. The motivation of the proposed method is based on two underlying facts. First, it is primarily the phase rather than the amplitude that conveys useful information in frequency estimation. Second, the negated kurtosis based cost function is computationally efficient and most celebrated in applications where the noise contamination degrades the performance of the classical adaptive filtering algorithms. To further achieve robust frequency estimation for both balanced and unbalanced conditions, the proposed method makes use of the full second-order information within the complex-valued system voltage through the Clarke's αβ transformation and the concept of augmented complex statistics and widely linear modelling. The estimation performance of the proposed method is evaluated for several critical cases that often arise in power system. Simulation results of both synthetic cases and experimental studies show that the proposed method achieves more accurate frequency estimates than its developed widely linear counterparts in the literature. In nonlinear active noise control (ANC) system where the primary noise obeys non-Gaussian distribution, the traditional filter-s least mean square (FsLMS) algorithm is hardly satisfactory. In order to surmount this deficiency, a novel generalized hyperbolic secant function with l p norm (FsGHSFP) algorithm is proposed for nonlinear ANC system, which designs a robust optimization criterion utilizing the generalized hyperbolic secant distribution function. The FsGHSFP algorithm has robust noise attenuation capability for non-Gaussian noise, but suffers from the problem of tuning the parameter. To address this problem, an improved FsGHSFP (IFsGHSFP) algorithm is developed by taking advantage of the fact that continuous mixed norm does not need to adjust norm parameter. Moreover, in order to strike a balance between convergence and misalignment, thereby further enhancing the robustness of the ANC system, a convex combination algorithm of IFsGHSFP is suggested. The robustness mechanism of the proposed algorithms is analyzed, as well as stability conditions and computational complexity. It is verified by simulations that the proposed algorithms accelerate the convergence speed and improve the noise attenuation performance. In acoustic echo cancellation (AEC), the sparseness of impulse responses can vary over time or/and context. For such scenario, the proportionate normalized subband adaptive filter (PNSAF) and μ -law (MPNSAF) algorithms suffer from performance deterioration. To this end, we propose their sparseness-measured versions by incorporating the estimated sparseness into the PNSAF and MPNSAF algorithms, respectively, which can adapt to the sparseness variation of impulse responses. In addition, based on the energy conservation argument, we provide a unified formula to predict the steady-state mean-square performance of any PNSAF algorithm, which is also supported by simulations. Simulation results in AEC have shown that the proposed algorithms not only exhibit faster convergence rate than their competitors in sparse, quasi-sparse and dispersive environments, but also are robust to the variation in the sparseness of impulse responses. Proportionate-type normalized subband adaptive filter (PNSAF-type) algorithms are very attractive choices for echo cancellation. To further obtain both fast convergence rate and low steady-state error, in this paper, a variable step size (VSS) version of the presented improved PNSAF (IPNSAF) algorithm is proposed by minimizing the square of the noise-free a posterior subband error signals. A noniterative shrinkage method is used to recover the noise-free a priori subband error signals from the noisy subband error signals. Significantly, the proposed VSS strategy can be applied to any other PNSAF-type algorithm, since it is independent of the proportionate principles. To improve the performance and reduce the computational complexity, a novel sign adaptation scheme for convex combination of adaptive filters is proposed. By using a sign adaptation scheme, the proposed scheme slightly reduces the computational complexity of the basic combination of mixing parameter, and improves the robustness of mixing parameter. Moreover, to obtain fast convergence property during the period of convergence transition in different environments, the instantaneous transfer scheme is applied to the proposed algorithm. The instantaneous transfer scheme has lower computational complexity than that of the basic combination of least mean square (basic-CLMS) algorithms. Simulation results in the context of system identification under time-invariant and time-variant systems demonstrate that the proposed algorithm based on the instantaneous transfer scheme has lower computational complexity and faster convergence rate than that of the basic-CLMS algorithm during period of convergence transitions. The Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) based on maximum correntropy criterion (MCC) is robust to heavy-tailed non-Gaussian noise. However, the approximate linear measurement equation obtained by statistical linearization technique may be not accurate enough since it only uses prior information. In this paper, a robust stable iterative maximum correntropy criterion UKF (RS-IMCC-UKF) is proposed by using nonlinear measurement function directly and numerical stability methods. Different from the existing UKF algorithms, we only need to perform one-time unscented transformation in each filtering cycle, reducing the execution time of algorithm. Then a nonlinear enhancement model is constructed to handle predictions and observations simultaneously, which will be included in the cost function of robust MCC. In the process of iterative solution, thanks to the latest iteration values which are used to update the measurement information, RS-IMCC-UKF has more accurate results compared with traditional filters. In order to avoid non-positive definite characteristic in covariance matrix and the inverse operation in ill-conditioned matrix, the hyperbolic QR decomposition and Moore–Penrose pseudo-inversion are introduced to improve the numerical stability of the algorithm.
