Printed electronic paper identifies its interest in flexible organic electronics and sustainable and clean energy applications because of its straightforward production method, cost‐effectiveness, and positive environmental impact. However, current limitations include restricted material thickness and the use of supporting substrate for printing. Here, 2D and 3D electronic patterned paper are fabricated from direct ink writing (DIW) nanocellulose and PEDOT:PSS‐based materials using syringe deposition and 3D printing. The conductor patterns are integrated in the bulk of the paper, while non‐conductive sections are used as support to form free‐standing paper. The strong interface between the patterns of electronic patterned paper gives mechanical stability for practical handling. The conductive paper‐based electrode has 202 S cm−1 and is capable of handling electric current up to 0.7 A, which can be used for high‐power devices. Printed supercapacitor papers show high specific energy of 4.05 Wh kg−1, specific power of 4615 W kg−1 at 0.06 A g−1, and capacitance retention above 95% after 2000 cycles. The new design structure of electronic patterned papers presents a solution for additive manufacturing of paper‐based composites for supercapacitors, wearable electronics, or sensors for smart packaging. The XY model of oil‐paper insulation connects the dielectric properties of oil, paper and oil‐paper system. Its equivalent circuit is the basis of the application of dielectric response technology in the state diagnosis of transformer oil‐paper insulation. To better apply the XY model to the study of the dielectric properties of oil‐paper insulation, the dielectric properties of the coaxial oil‐paper insulation system built in the laboratory, XY model and its equivalent circuits are compared. Then an improved circuit of XY model which can reflect the properties of the oil‐paper insulation more truly is proposed. The results show that there is no difference between the XY model and the coaxial model, and both can well characterize the oil‐paper insulation system. The two equivalent circuits of XY model, "Series to Parallel" circuit and "Parallel to Series" circuit, ignore the current tangential component and the electric field distortion in oil‐paper insulation, respectively, resulting in deviations from the XY model. By introducing a new branch C*XY, the improved circuit can reflect the tangential current and electric field distortion in oil‐paper insulation, which can be completely equivalent to XY model. In addition, there is a characteristic frequency point in the oil‐paper insulation system, where the dielectric loss factor tan δ of oil, paper and oil‐paper system are the same. There is no difference between the XY model and its two equivalent circuits at this point. Forecasting has extreme importance in industry due to the numerous competitive advantages that it provides, allowing to foresee what might happen and adjust management decisions accordingly. Industries increasingly use sensors, which allow for large-scale data collection. Big datasets enable training, testing and application of complex predictive algorithms based on machine learning models. The present paper focuses on predicting values from sensors installed on a pulp paper press, using data collected over three years. The variables analyzed are electric current, pressure, temperature, torque, oil level and velocity. The results of XGBoost and artificial neural networks, with different feature vectors, are compared. Summary: Despite the high energy density, the lithium metal electrode has been plagued for decades with a dendrite growth problem that can result in a battery thermal runaway. Here, we introduce anisotropic spatially heterogeneous three dimensional (3D) current collectors that prevent lithium deposition on the insulating electrolyte-facing surface and accommodate lithium deposition inside the spacious voids. The anisotropic spatial heterogeneity was introduced by a line-of-sight deposition of a thin SiO2 layer onto a carbon-fiber paper. The deposited SiO2 was later converted into SiC by a magnesiothermic reaction. The SiO2 and SiC decorated 3D current collectors were confirmed dendrite-free by ex situ SEM observation after a deep lithium deposition of 28.8Ccm−2 at a high current density of 4mAcm−2. A high lithium cycling efficiency of 94% was achieved over deep deposition (14.4Ccm−2) and stripping cycles in a carbonate based organic electrolyte, demonstrating the superiority of the novel current collector for dendrite control and lithium cycling. Power transformers have been expected to work with safety and reliability over a period of more than 30 years. The life expectancy of transformers depends upon the degree of deterioration of insulating materials, particularly conductor insulating paper. Many attempts have bee made in recent years to estimate the degree of deterioration of transformers but no diagnostic techniques have been put into practical use because of the difficulty of taking into account the service conditions. It is well known that materials change color when they deteriorate, but no colorimetry study has been made on material deteriorations. According to the recent advances in instrumentation and data processing equipment, the color of materials has become easy to measure qualitatively. Therefore, the basic investigation on colorimetry of insulating papers has been made to clarify the applicability to power transformers. Test results showed a strong correlation between the color difference and the deterioration of insulating paper. This paper introduces a new model for transient moisture equilibrium in oil-paper insulation, easily applicable even in a continuous way, based on Fick's second law. According to the model, the moisture concentration in paper follows step response function, but the equilibration time constant changes with time since it depends on temperature, paper thickness, equilibration moisture in oil-paper insulation, and number of oil-paper interfaces. The oil-paper insulation in a transformer gradually ages due to the combined effects of thermal and electrical stress that occur during its operation. In this paper, for investigating the changes that occur within the oil-paper during the aging process with different aging stresses, partial discharge (PD) characteristics and trap parameters are measured. An internal discharge cavity model is designed for the electrical stress, and the thermal stress is generated by a baking oven simultaneously. The experiments are designed such that the dominant factor on the aging process is either thermal, electrical, or a unity of both stress factors. The phase resolved partial discharge (PRPD) spectrograms are recorded at different aging time, and the trap parameters are extracted by thermally stimulated depolarization current (TSDC) method. Additionally, the surface morphologies of these samples are observed by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results show that the trap energy presents a decreasing tendency when the electrical stress plays the dominant role, and the discharge energy becomes larger over the aging time until pre-breakdown. When the thermal stress dominates the aging process, the trap energy shows an increasing tendency over the aging time, and there exists a process of ‘material conditioning’ that occurs at the initial stage of the aging process. The change of trap parameters in aged oil-paper will further affect PD characteristics. A paper microfluidic fuel cell was developed that is powered by urea and compares favorably to recent literature reports of paper microfluidic fuel cells. During fuel cell testing, we found the maximum power density to be as high as 0.91 mW cm −2 and the maximum current density to be as high as 4.3 mA cm -2  at room temperature using 0.3 M urea as fuel. Under continuous reactant flow, the fuel cell voltage is stable for at least 1 h. Under stopped flow conditions, the voltage was stable for up to 20 min. When 3 fuel cells (using Ni anode) were connected in series, sufficient energy was produced to power the LCD screen of a paper-based, over-the-counter pregnancy test for at least 30 min. Since this fuel cell is constructed on paper, it does not require continuous flow of reactants as a micro-channeled microfluidic fuel cell would. Hence, it could be possible with this chemistry to integrate energy production with urinalysis on paper since human urine contains both urea (fuel) and hormones (analyte) to provide power and analyte simultaneously. Recently, Gunn, Allison and Abbott (GAA) [http://arxiv.org/pdf/1402.2709v2.pdf] proposed a new scheme to utilize electromagnetic waves for eavesdropping on the Kirchhoff-law-Johnson-noise (KLJN) secure key distribution. We proved in a former paper [Fluct. Noise Lett. 13 (2014) 1450016] that GAA's mathematical model is unphysical. Here we analyze GAA's cracking scheme and show that, in the case of a loss-free cable, it provides less eavesdropping information than in the earlier (Bergou)-Scheuer-Yariv mean-square-based attack [Kish LB, Scheuer J, Phys. Lett. A 374:2140-2142 (2010)], while it offers no information in the case of a lossy cable. We also investigate GAA's claim to be experimentally capable of distinguishing-using statistics over a few correlation times only-the distributions of two Gaussian noises with a relative variance difference of less than 10-8. Normally such distinctions would require hundreds of millions of correlations times to be observable. We identify several potential experimental artifacts as results of poor KLJN design, which can lead to GAA's assertions: deterministic currents due to spurious harmonic components caused by ground loops, DC offset, aliasing, non-Gaussian features including non-linearities and other non-idealities in generators, and the timederivative nature of GAA's scheme which tends to enhance all of these artifacts. Abstract: In the last decades, dielectric testing techniques are being used and investigated as potential tools for condition assessment of oil-paper insulation. From fields and laboratory investigations these techniques were found to be highly operating conditions (moisture, ageing, temperature, etc.) dependant. Because field measurements (generally performed after de-energizing the transformer), last hours after de-energizing the transformer, the ambient temperature may affect the results. Especially in cold regions of the world, extreme care is required to interpret the results when performing tests at surrounding low temperatures. A better understanding and analysis of the dielectric test results are therefore only possible with a clear understanding of the physical behaviour of the insulation system in response to the ambient conditions. In the current research project, a series of experiments have been performed under controlled laboratory conditions with preset moisture content inside the insulation. The suppressive effect of triazole-based passivators such as 1,2,3-benzotriazole (BTA) and Irgamet 39TM (CIBA Specialty, Basel, Switzerland) on the deposition of copper sulfide on insulating paper in transformers and reactors was investigated by heating test with bare and paper-wrapped copper plates. Commercially available mineral oil meeting the specification of IEC 60296 was used. This oil contained 136 ppm wt./wt. of dibenzyl disulfide (DBDS). The deposition of copper sulfide occurred after 144 h of heating at 140 °C without these passivators. However, little deposition of copper sulfide occurred even after 432 h of heating when either of these passivators was added to the oil. The concentration of dissolved copper significantly decreased when either of these passivators was added to the oil, which reflects the formation of complex layers on the copper surface caused by the reaction between these passivators and copper. The complex layers were confirmed by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometer (TOF-SIMS). The suppressive effect was derived from retarding copper from dissolving into: the oil due to the reaction inhibition between DBDS and copper by the complex layers. Moisture and ageing strongly influence the dielectric properties of oil/paper insulation system of power transformer. Moisture measurement in oil sample generally gives inconclusive information since oil/paper moisture equilibrium is temperature dependent and takes a long time to be in equilibrium. Direct moisture measurement of paper sample is not practicable for in-service transformers. The measurement and evaluation of the "dielectric response" and conductivity is one possible way of diagnosing a transformer insulation condition. In a recent research project, polarization and depolarization current measurement has been used for assessing the condition of oil/paper insulation. The polarization and depolarization current (PDC) analysis is a non-destructive dielectric testing method for determining the conductivity and moisture content of insulation materials in a transformer. On the basis of this analysis it is possible to take further actions like oil-refurbishment, drying or replacement of the winding of the transformer. This paper presents a description of the PDC technique with the physical and mathematical background and some results of PDC measurements on several transformers. An electrothermochromic paper display composed of colorimetrically reversible polydiacetylenes (PDAs), utilizing screen printing on photopaper and patterning of electrically conductive wires on the reverse side, was developed. Heat generated by passing a current through the wires on the back of the photopaper induced a blue-to-red color transition of the PDA on the front at regions corresponding to the wires. This resulted in the generation of red-colored images, which disappeared when the supplied electric current was removed. The voltage at which the PDAs changed color could be controlled by using structured diacetylene (DA) monomers. A PDA-based seven-segment display has also been developed. By applying voltages, red-colored numeric digits from 0 to 9 can be displayed on the surface of the PDA layer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article describes an electronic display that is fabricated by patterning electrically conductive wires (heaters) with micron-scale dimensions on one side of a sheet of paper, and thermochromic ink on the opposite side. Passing electrical current through the wires heats the paper and changes the thermochromic ink from colored (black, green, or other colors) to transparent; this change in property reveals the paper underneath the ink—exposing any messages printed on the paper—and serves as the basis for a two-state “shutter” display. This type of display is thin (100 µm), flat, lightweight (the display weighs <20 mg/cm2), can be folded, rolled, twisted, and creased while maintaining function, and ultimately can (if required) be disposed of by incineration. The display is appropriate for applications where information must be presented clearly (usually only once) for little cost (each display costs <$0.10/m2in materials) and where limited electrical power is available. To identify the influence of copper ion on the aging rate of oil–paper insulation, accelerated thermal aging experiments on oil–paper insulation were designed and performed at two significant temperatures. A set of characteristic parameters, including dissolved gases, degree of polymerisation, furfural content, water content and acid number of oil, was tested. The experiments' results reveal that copper ion has a different influence on insulation paper and oil during the aging process of the insulation system. On the one hand, it delays the degradation of insulation paper, reducing the ratio of CO2/CO by about 11% at 80°C and by more than 50% at 130°C. Renewable energy is an increasing need in our society. Microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology represents a new form of renewable energy by generating electricity from what would otherwise be considered waste. It is possible to directly generate electricity-using bacteria while accomplishing wastewater treatment in processes based on microbial fuel cell technologies. When bacteria oxidize a substrate, they remove electrons. Electric current generation is made possible by keeping bacteria separated from oxygen, but allowing the bacteria growing on an anode to transfer electrons to the counter electrode (cathode) that is exposed to air. Paper-based microfluidic devices have the potential of being a low-cost platform for diagnostic devices. Electrical circuit analogy (ECA) model has been used to model the wicking process in paper-based microfluidic devices. However, material characteristics such as absorption capacity cannot be included in the previous ECA models. This paper proposes a new model to describe the wicking process with liquid absorption in a paper strip. We observed that the fluid continues to flow in a paper strip, even after the fluid reservoir has been removed. This phenomenon is caused by the ability of the paper to store liquid in its matrix. The model presented in this paper is derived from the analogy to the current response of an electric circuit with a capacitance. All coefficients in the model are fitted with data of capillary rise experiments and compared with direct measurement of the absorption capacity. The theoretical data of the model agrees well with experimental data and the conventional Washburn model. Considering liquid absorption capacity as a capacitance helps to explain the relationship between material characteristics and the wicking mechanism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In 1840, James Prescott Joule submitted to the Royal Society a paper describing experimental research on the heat produced by electric currents in metallic conductors, and inferring that the effect was proportional to the resistance of the conductors and to the square of the intensity of the current. Only an abstract of this paper was published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society, although a full paper with a similar title was printed in the Philosophical Magazine in 1841. Several authors have assumed that the content of the 1841 publication was the same as the rejected 1840 paper; however, the unpublished manuscript has been found within the archives of the Royal Society and is published here for the first time, along with a detailed analysis and comparison with the 1841 paper. The unpublished version is much shorter, and is different in certain respects from the published article. A detailed comparison throws light on several shortcomings of the unpublished version. Definition: In young Maxwell's eyes, electricity, magnetism and fluid mechanics present analogies that let the first be mathematically grasped in a unitary way similarly to the latter. This entry sketches the first steps of James Clerk Maxwell's unitary view of electromagnetism and fluid mechanics, with long-lasting effects on understanding the physical world. In his very first paper on the subject, Maxwell interpreted Faraday's concept of lines of force of both electricity and magnetism as filaments of a flowing fluid. That is, Maxwell suggested to unify the previously distinct fields of electricity and magnetism, considering them as different aspects of the same entity, the 'electromagnetic field', which is mathematically described by four partial differential equations. In the literature there are several comprehensive works on Maxwell's mature exposition of his theory; however, the aim of this entry contribution is rather more limited. Indeed, it is restricted to examining the contributions of Maxwell's first paper towards developing the idea of electric current as the motion of an incompressible fluid. Thus, this entry highlights the strong connections of Maxwell's epistemological view with the 'mechanistic' approach of the time to every aspect of physical phenomenology. For islanded microgrids, droop-based control concepts have been developed both in single and three-phase variants. The three-phase controllers often assume a balanced network; hence, unbalance sharing and/or mitigation remains a challenging issue. Therefore, in this paper, unbalance is considered in a three-phase islanded microgrid in which the distributed generation (DG) units are operated by the voltage-based droop (VBD) control. For this purpose, the VBD control, which has been developed for single-phase systems, is extended for a three-phase application and an additional control loop is added for unbalance mitigation and sharing. The method is based on an unbalance mitigation scheme by DG units in grid-connected systems, which is altered for usage in grid-forming DG units with droop control. The reaction of the DG units to unbalance is determined by the main parameter of the additional control loop, viz., the distortion damping resistance, Rd. The effect of Rd on the unbalance mitigation is studied in this paper, i.e., dependent on Rd, the DG units can be resistive for unbalance (RU) or they can contribute in the weakest phase (CW). The paper shows that the RU method decreases the line losses in the system and achieves better power equalization between the DG unit's phases. However, it leads to a larger voltage unbalance near the loads. The CW method leads to a more uneven power between the DG unit's phases and larger line losses, but a better voltage quality near the load. However, it can negatively affect the stability of the system. In microgrids with multiple DG units, the distortion damping resistance is set such that the unbalanced load can be shared between multiple DG units in an actively controlled manner rather than being determined by the microgrid configuration solely. This study focuses on developing multifunctional electronic paper (e-paper) using a low-cost recycling method to minimize the usage of critical raw materials. The e-paper is designed for various smart applications, such as mechano-responsive energy harvesters and pressure sensors. The emphasis is on adopting an eco-friendly approach by utilizing cellulose extracted from used newspapers, which would otherwise have been discarded. The formulated e-paper contains 100 % recycled cellulose fibers, unlike the more commonly used recycled paper, which contains around 70 % of recycled cellulose and 30 % of new pulp. The recycled paper (RP) was functionalized using polyaniline (PANi), resulting in a conductive e-paper, capable of generating electric current through a charge transfer mechanism at the PANi-Cellulose/electrode interface layer. The resulting devices demonstrate satisfactory energy production, with output voltage ranging from 16.8 to 20.25 V, output current ranging from 0.9 µA to 1.75 µA, and power density ranging from 0.18 to 0.35 Wm−2. The mechanical impulses generated by the device can successfully light up several LEDs in series. Additionally, the e-paper was investigated as a flexible, paper-based pressure sensor. The fabricated device exhibited excellent sensitivity, fast response time, and a wide detection range from 25 Pa to 12.25 kPa. The sensitivity of the pressure sensors achieved 4.21 kPa−1 within a low range of 0–1 kPa and approximately 0.008 kPa-1for a broader pressure range (2 – 12.25 kPa). Harmonic state estimation (HSE) is an useful technique for determining harmonic voltages and currents in electric power systems based on synchronized measurements and network impedances parameters. However, measurements and parameters data can be corrupted by gross errors yielding unsatisfactory estimation results. Despite recent methods have been proposed for HSE in power systems, there are few works considering both harmonic state variables and parameters estimation. In order to solve this problem, this paper presents a generalized harmonic state estimation considering uncertain network parameters and synchronized measurements. In the proposed approach, harmonic voltage and current phasors are obtained by measurement units allocated along the system. Network parameters, such as line and load impedances, are treated as inequality constraints in an optimization problem formulation considering both system state variables and parameters to be determined by the proposed HSE. The main contribution of this research paper is the use of a deterministic approach for estimating both harmonic state variables and parameters with reduced estimation errors when compared with the traditional weighted least squares (WLS) technique. Background: Transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) generates an electric field (or current density) in the brain through surface electrodes attached to the scalp. Clinical significance has been demonstrated, although with moderate and heterogeneous results partly due to a lack of control of the delivered electric currents. In the last decade, computational electric field analysis has allowed the estimation and optimization of the electric field using accurate anatomical head models. This review examines recent tES computational studies, providing a comprehensive background on the technical aspects of adopting computational electric field analysis as a standardized procedure in medical applications. Methods: Specific search strategies were designed to retrieve papers from the Web of Science database. The papers were initially screened based on the soundness of the title and abstract and then on their full contents, resulting in a total of 57 studies. Results: Recent trends were identified in individual- and population-level analysis of the electric field, including head models from non-neurotypical individuals. Advanced optimization techniques that allow a high degree of control with the required focality and direction of the electric field were also summarized. There is also growing evidence of a correlation between the computationally estimated electric field and the observed responses in real experiments. Conclusions: Computational pipelines and optimization algorithms have reached a degree of maturity that provides a rationale to improve tES experimental design and a posteriori analysis of the responses for supporting clinical studies. Carrier phase‐shifted sine pulse width modulation is a common modulation strategy for medium‐ and low‐voltage cascaded H‐bridges (CHB). This paper proposes a novel jittered‐carrier phase‐shifted sine pulse width modulation (JCPS‐SPWM) to reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the converter. It makes the carrier jitter regularly while the total switching times remain unchanged, which reduces the THD of the bridge arm voltage and current by moving the low‐order output harmonics of the bridge arm voltage and current to filterable high‐order harmonics. Since the total number of switching times remains unchanged, this modulation strategy will not cause any increase in switching loss. A seven‐level CHB simulation model and an experimental prototype are built to verify the effectiveness of the approach. The results show that harmonic content can be reduced by 47.5% compared with the traditional method, thus verifying the effectiveness of the JCPS‐SPWM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The development of four-pulse DEER as described, which has been published in the Journal of Magnetic Resonance more than 10 years ago. The corresponding paper is an example where a slight advance, such as adding a refocusing pulse, which in retrospect looks so simple, can have a remarkable impact on an entire field of science. In our case it offered a simple way to exact measurements of distances between defined species in the nanometer range. The article highlights the research study related to the analysis of electroluminescence in powder devices with a paper substrate and inclusion of a receptive layer. Topics include the process of electroluminescence (EL) in powder EL devices; the mechanism by which light emission is enhanced was probed by measurements of the frequency dependence of the current, luminance and loss tangent.

Polarization and Depolarization Current (PDC) technique is an effective tool to assess the condition of oil-paper insulation system in power transformers. So far the PDC behaviors of mineral oil-paper insulation have been widely investigated. However, with the increasing number of transformer choosing natural ester as its insulation oil, it is important to investigate the PDC characteristics of natural ester-paper insulation to see whether the PDC technique can also be used to assess the condition of new insulation system using natural ester in transformers accurately. In this research, natural esterpaper insulation sample and mineral oil-paper insulation sample were subjected to thermally accelerated ageing experiment at 110°C for 120 days. The PDC characteristics of natural ester-paper insulation sample and mineral oil-paper insulation sample were compared over the ageing process. A new method for assessing the ageing condition of the oil-paper insulation in terms of the depolarization charge quantity was proposed. Results show that the polarization/depolarization current of natural ester-paper insulation sample is higher than that of mineral oil-paper insulation sample with the same ageing intervals. The depolarization charge quantity of both kinds of oil-paper insulation sample is very sensitive to their ageing conditions. There is an exponential relation between the stable depolarization charge quantity of both kinds of oil-paper insulation sample and the degree of polymerization (DP) of paper. The Fourth Industrial Revolution has had a huge impact on manufacturing processes and products. With rapidly growing technology, new solutions are being implemented in the field of digital representations of a physical product. This approach can provide benefits in terms of cost and testing time savings. In order to test and reflect the operation of an electric car, a digital twin model was designed. The paper collects all the information and standards necessary to transform the idea into a real and virtual model of an electric car. The significance and impact of the study on the improvement of the project are described. The research stand, correlations of components (DC and AC motors, shaft, and wheel of the electric car), and development prospects are presented in the paper. The communication method with the research stand is also presented. The digital twin should communicate in real time, which means obtaining the correct output when the input changes; the input is the AC motor current, and the output is the rotational speed of the DC motor. The relation between inputs and outputs are tested. The kinematics of the electric car are modelled in LabVIEW. The results obtained are compared with historic racing data. The track is also modeled based on satellite data, taking into account changes in terrain height, using the SG Telemetry Viewer application. The parameters of the electric car engine model are tuned based on actual data on the car's speed and current in the electric motor. The achieved results are presented and then discussed. The application of low-level direct electric current (0.15 mA cm−2) as an electrokinetic technique to treat copper-contaminated mesophilic anaerobic granular sludge was investigated. The sludge was obtained from a full scale UASB reactor treating paper-mill wastewater and was artificially contaminated by Cu(NO3)2 or CuEDTA2− with initial copper concentrations of 1000 mg . kg−1 wet sludge. The effect of different electrokinetic cell layouts, pH and EDTA concentrations on the migration of copper and iron during electrokinetic treatment were evaluated. Both, the pH of the sludge cake or the copper complexation with EDTA significantly affected the migration direction of copper. In an ‘open’ cell (sludge cake in direct contact with air), the highest copper mobility was observed at pH 2.5 in both Cu(NO3)2 or CuEDTA2− amended sludge. The highest copper accumulation was at the cathode (22 ± 2)% with CuEDTA2− as contaminant. In a ‘closed’ cell (sludge cake not in contact with air), the highest accumulation was obtained for CuEDTA2− at the anode and amounted to 4(± 0.5)% and 2(± 0.05)%, respectively, at a final pH of 4.2 and 7.7 in the sludge cake. Polyurethanes have been extensively studied for their strong electromechanical response. Previous studies have mainly investigated the impact of electrical charges on these polymers' DC conductivity, which was measured on the order of 10−10 S/m. The movement of electric charges is responsible for the macroscopic deformation of polymer films under an electric field. However, this study focused primarily on electric fields below 107 V/m, where the electric current complies with Ohm's law. In this paper, we examine the electric current above this field value and observe a deviation in the current from linearity with the applied field, especially for a high electric field of 106–107 V/m. This change is known in polymers under high electric fields but has never been observed in polyurethane. This suggests the injection of electrode charges into the polymer material. In this work, we demonstrate all-solution processed three-unit (red/green/blue) white tandem QLEDs for the first time. The white tandem devices are achieved by serially connecting the red bottom sub-QLED, the green middle sub-QLED and the blue top sub QLED using the inter-connecting layer (ICL) based on ZnMgO/PEDOT:PSS heterojunction. With the proposed ICL, the two-unit tandem QLEDs exhibit a high current efficiency of 22.22 cd/A, while the three-unit white QLEDs exhibit a peak current efficiency of 4.75 cd/A at a high luminance of 4206 cd/m2 . Displays based on the developed white QLEDs exhibit a wide color gamut of 114% NTSC. This work confirms the effectiveness of the proposed ZnMgO/PEDOT:PSS ICL and the feasibility of making all-solution processed tandem white QLEDs by using the proposed ICL. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nowadays the efficient use of energy is a major issue in applications such as electric vehicles. However, there are some phenomena that affect electric vehicle performance. One of those phenomena is the torque ripple of electric motors, which interferes with traction and the suspension system (causing vibration that stresses this system), and it can also introduce electric current harmonics into the battery, reducing its life, since torque ripple is partly a consequence of non-sinusoidal back EMF. For those reasons this is a topic worth investigating. The torque ripple of permanent magnets (PM) motors can be reduced in design or through control. Since control techniques have been reviewed and design methods have not, this paper presents a comparison of several design techniques to reduce torque ripple by different approaches and categorize them to show the characteristics of each group. A discussion is then made about the advantages and disadvantages of the designs, in general, as well as some comments about the missing, but important information, in the papers, such as the effects on efficiency. The study shows that a combination of methods provide the best results, although it complicates fabrication and suggests that this is a promising line of future investigation on torque ripple reduction methods. Three instruments have been evaluated for their ability to estimate the load conditions and efficiency of operating motors based solely on measurements of terminal voltage and current. Laboratory tests, compared to a high-accuracy dynamometer system were used to assess the instruments' accuracy. Field tests were conducted in a paper mill to determine the ease of use and lack of intrusion. In both laboratory and field tests the instruments were applied to 50-hp, 100-hp, and 200-hp 460-V induction motors. Data of the relative accuracies of the three instruments, as functions of motor load and supply voltage, are presented together with observations of ease and lack of intrusion in use.
