A biography of John Dewey, an American philosopher who was born in October 1859, is presented. During his teenage years, he was taken by W. T. Harris and followed the latter's journal "Speculative Philosophy," which was dominated by the philosophical thought of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. His writing on nature published in 1890 was heavily influenced by Hegel. Dewey is considered as the most influential American philosopher of education.
