Integrated circuit (IC) testing presents complex problems that for large circuits are exceptionally difficult to solve by traditional computing techniques. To deal with unmanageable time complexity, engineers often rely on human "hunches" and "heuristics" learned through experience. Training computers to adopt these human skills is referred to as machine intelligence (MI) or machine learning (ML). This survey examines applications of such methods to test analog, radio frequency (RF), digital, and memory circuits. It also summarizes ML applications to hardware security and emerging technologies, highlighting challenges and potential research directions. In this paper, we argue that because of the advent of Artificial Intelligence, the secret ballot is now much less effective at protecting voters from voting related instances of social ostracism and social punishment. If one has access to vast amounts of data about specific electors, then it is possible, at least with respect to a significant subset of electors, to infer with high levels of accuracy how they voted in a past election. Since the accuracy levels of Artificial Intelligence are so high, the practical consequences of someone inferring one's vote are identical to the practical consequences of having one's vote revealed directly under an open voting regime. Therefore, if one thinks that the secret ballot is at least partly justified because it protects electors against voting related social ostracism and social punishment, one should be morally troubled by how Artificial Intelligence today can be used to infer individual electors' past voting behaviour. Choice architecture describes the environment in which choices are presented to decision-makers. In recent years, public and private actors have looked at choice architecture with great interest as they seek to influence human behaviour. These actors are typically called choice architects. Increasingly, however, this role of architecting choice is not performed by a human choice architect, but an algorithm or artificial intelligence, powered by a stream of Big Data and infused with an objective it has been programmed to maximise. We call this entity the autonomous choice architect. In this paper, we present an account of why artificial intelligence can fulfil the role of a choice architect and why this creates problems of transparency, responsibility and accountability for nudges. We argue that choice architects, be them autonomous computational systems or human-beings, at a most basic level select, from a range of designs, the design which is most likely to maximise a pre-determined objective. We then proceed to argue that, given the growing demand for targeted, personalised choice architecture and for faster, dynamic reconfigurations of choice architecture, as well as the ever-expanding pool of data from which feedback can be drawn, the role of the human choice architect is increasingly obscured behind algorithmic, artificially intelligent systems. We provide a discussion of the implications of autonomous choice architects, focusing on the importance of the humans who programme these systems, ultimately arguing that despite technological advances, the responsibility of choice architecture and influence remains firmly one human beings must bear. At present, although artificial intelligence (AI) has made great progress in the aspects of control policy and operation, there is still no unified ethical decision mode, laws and regulations in ethical dilemma, which seriously affect application and development of artificial intelligence. Therefore, this paper studies and analyzes various ethical decision mode of AI system, then the current research status and advantages, deficiencies of these decision modes are analyzed and summarized. According to the characteristics of the current ethical decision modes and existing problems, the future implementation mode for the future ethical decision of artificial intelligence is explored and discussed. A hierarchical hybrid ethical decision mode will be proposed and designed, which has the advantages of the existing ethical decision modes. The victories of the Go-playing artificial intelligence (AI) "AlphaGo" against professional player Lee Sedol in 2016 had a profound impact on public and academic perceptions of AI. This event shocked observers, as the ability of a machine to defeat a world champion human in a highly complex game seemed to indicate that a machine had achieved human-like—or more than human—intelligence. But why was AlphaGo so readily anthropomorphized by academic and non-academic audiences alike? Drawing from existing analyses of reactions to and arguments concerning AlphaGo and AI generally, this paper argues that "generative" cognitive science—a school of thought exemplified by the linguistic work of Noam Chomsky—offers two novel contributions to this subject. First, generativism sheds light on an irrational double standard in the study of the human mind in contrast to the study of non-cognitive systems—"methodological dualism"—which, I argue, has been transferred to evaluations of AlphaGo and other AI. Second, by exposing this irrational double standard in perceptions of AI, I employ generativism's more well-known arguments concerning the nature of human intelligence and its scientific study to the evaluation of AI, exposing deficient interpretations widely used in the case of AlphaGo and AI generally. Artificial intelligence ethics requires a united approach from policymakers, AI companies, and individuals, in the development, deployment, and use of these technologies. However, sometimes discussions can become fragmented because of the different levels of governance (Schmitt in AI Ethics 1–12, 2021) or because of different values, stakeholders, and actors involved (Ryan and Stahl in J Inf Commun Ethics Soc 19:61–86, 2021). Recently, these conflicts became very visible, with such examples as the dismissal of AI ethics researcher Dr. Timnit Gebru from Google and the resignation of whistle-blower Frances Haugen from Facebook. Underpinning each debacle was a conflict between the organisation's economic and business interests and the morals of their employees. This paper will examine tensions between the ethics of AI organisations and the values of their employees, by providing an exploration of the AI ethics literature in this area, and a qualitative analysis of three workshops with AI developers and practitioners. Common ethical and social tensions (such as power asymmetries, mistrust, societal risks, harms, and lack of transparency) will be discussed, along with proposals on how to avoid or reduce these conflicts in practice (e.g., building trust, fair allocation of responsibility, protecting employees' autonomy, and encouraging ethical training and practice). Altogether, we suggest the following steps to help reduce ethical issues within AI organisations: improved and diverse ethics education and training within businesses; internal and external ethics auditing; the establishment of AI ethics ombudsmen, AI ethics review committees and an AI ethics watchdog; as well as access to trustworthy AI ethics whistle-blower organisations. Artificial intelligence has made significant breakthroughs in many fields, especially with the broad deployment of edge devices, which provides opportunities to develop and apply various intelligent models in edge networks. Edge device-server co-inference system has gradually become the mainstream of edge intelligent computing. However, the existing feature procession works in the edge inference framework neglect the focus on whether features are important, and the processed features are still redundant, affecting the inference efficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel attention-based variable-size feature compression module to enhance edge systems' inference efficiency by leveraging input data's varying importance levels. First, a multi-scale attention mechanism is introduced, which operates jointly in the channel spatial to effectively compute importance weights from the intermediate output features of the edge devices. These weights are then utilized to assign different transmission probabilities, filtering out irrelevant feature data and prioritizing task-relevant information. Second, the new loss algorithm and progressive model training strategy are designed to optimize the proposed module, enabling the model to adapt to the reduced feature data gradually and effectively. Finally, experimental results on CIFAR-10 and ImageNet datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed solution, showcasing a significant reduction in the data output volume of edge devices and minimizing communication overhead while ensuring minimal loss in model accuracy. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) technology, increasingly edge devices have entered people's daily lives. However, due to the limited performance of edge devices, complex models can affect the response speed and efficiency of the whole system. Existing research still cannot simultaneously satisfy the demand for accuracy and response speed of edge devices. This paper proposes a lightweight and highly accurate object detection model that uses the Transformer to address edge devices' limited computational capacity and storage space. Specifically, the proposed model adopts the Swin Transformer for multi-scale feature extraction to achieve better global modeling capability. In addition, we propose the Neck module with path aggregation network (PAN), which is designed with a two-feature pyramid structure capable of combining semantic and localization information in order to improve the operational performance by exploiting the underlying location features. A lightweight detection head is then developed using group convolution, fusing the two localization branches and removes the additional decoupling operation. Finally, we conduct comparative experiments on three datasets: the Retail-cabinet dataset, the Roadsign dataset, and the Pascal VOC dataset. Experimental results show that compared with the baseline model, our model achieves an 11.8% improvement in mAP on the Retail-cabinet dataset while reducing Params and FLOPs by 23.19% and 71.50%, respectively. The proposed model effectively reduces the model's computational complexity and improves detection performance, thereby possessing high practical value. In this paper, a novel data-centric approach is proposed for solving the 3D mesh segmentation problem. The method uses node2vec, a semi-supervised learning algorithm, to create vector embedding representations for each node in a 3D mesh graph. This makes the mesh data more compact and easier to process which is important for reducing computation costs. K-Means clustering is then used to cluster each node according to their node embedding information. This data-centric approach is more computationally efficient than other complex models such as CNN and RNN. The main contribution of this study is the development of a data-centric AI framework that combines node2vec embedding, machine learning, and deep learning techniques. The use of cosine similarity is also adapted to compare and evaluate the trained node embedding vectors with different hyperparameters. Additionally, a new algorithm is developed to determine the optimal cluster number using geodesic distance on the 3D mesh. This review paper presents the practical development of imaging biomarkers in the scope of the PRIMAGE (PRedictive In silico Multiscale Analytics to support cancer personalized diaGnosis and prognosis, Empowered by imaging biomarkers) project, as a noninvasive and reliable way to improve the diagnosis and prognosis in pediatric oncology. The PRIMAGE project is a European multi-center research initiative that focuses on developing medical imaging-derived artificial intelligence (AI) solutions designed to enhance overall management and decision-making for two types of pediatric cancer: neuroblastoma and diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma. To allow this, the PRIMAGE project has created an open-cloud platform that combines imaging, clinical, and molecular data together with AI models developed from this data, creating a comprehensive decision support environment for clinicians managing patients with these two cancers. In order to achieve this, a standardized data processing and analysis workflow was implemented to generate robust and reliable predictions for different clinical endpoints. Magnetic resonance (MR) image harmonization and registration was performed as part of the workflow. Subsequently, an automated tool for the detection and segmentation of tumors was trained and internally validated. The Dice similarity coefficient obtained for the independent validation dataset was 0.997, indicating compatibility with the manual segmentation variability. Following this, radiomics and deep features were extracted and correlated with clinical endpoints. Finally, reproducible and relevant imaging quantitative features were integrated with clinical and molecular data to enrich both the predictive models and a set of visual analytics tools, making the PRIMAGE platform a complete clinical decision aid system. In order to ensure the advancement of research in this field and to foster engagement with the wider research community, the PRIMAGE data repository and platform are currently being integrated into the European Federation for Cancer Images (EUCAIM), which is the largest European cancer imaging research infrastructure created to date. Purpose: The usage of Chatbots as a kind of Artificial Intelligence in medicine is getting to increase in recent years. UpToDate® is another well-known search tool established on evidence-based knowledge and is used daily by doctors worldwide. In this study, we aimed to investigate the usefulness and reliability of ChatGPT compared to UpToDate in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (ORL–HNS). Materials and methods: ChatGPT-3.5 and UpToDate were interrogated for the management of 25 common clinical case scenarios (13 males/12 females) recruited from literature considering the daily observation at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Ege University Faculty of Medicine. Scientific references for the management were requested for each clinical case. The accuracy of the references in the ChatGPT answers was assessed on a 0–2 scale and the usefulness of the ChatGPT and UpToDate answers was assessed with 1–3 scores by reviewers. UpToDate and ChatGPT 3.5 responses were compared. Results: ChatGPT did not give references in some questions in contrast to UpToDate. Information on the ChatGPT was limited to 2021. UpToDate supported the paper with subheadings, tables, figures, and algorithms. The mean accuracy score of references in ChatGPT answers was 0.25–weak/unrelated. The median (Q1–Q3) was 1.00 (1.25–2.00) for ChatGPT and 2.63 (2.75–3.00) for UpToDate, the difference was statistically significant (p < 0.001). UpToDate was observed more useful and reliable than ChatGPT. Conclusions: ChatGPT has the potential to support the physicians to find out the information but our results suggest that ChatGPT needs to be improved to increase the usefulness and reliability of medical evidence-based knowledge. Introduction: Biologic therapies for Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps (CRSwNP) have emerged as an auspicious treatment alternative. However, the ideal patient population, dosage, and treatment duration are yet to be well-defined. Moreover, biologic therapy has disadvantages, such as high costs and limited access. The proposal of a novel Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm offers an intriguing solution for optimizing decision-making protocols. Methods: The AI algorithm was initially programmed to conduct a systematic literature review searching for the current primary guidelines on biologics' clinical efficacy and safety in treating CRSwNP. The review included a total of 12 studies: 6 systematic reviews, 4 expert consensus guidelines, and 2 surveys. Simultaneously, two independent human researchers conducted a literature search to compare the results. Subsequently, the AI was tasked to critically analyze the identified papers, highlighting strengths and weaknesses, thereby creating a decision-making algorithm and pyramid flow chart. Results: The studies evaluated various biologics, including monoclonal antibodies targeting Interleukin-5 (IL-5), IL-4, IL-13, and Immunoglobulin E (IgE), assessing their effectiveness in different patient populations, such as those with comorbid asthma or refractory CRSwNP. Dupilumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the IL-4 receptor alpha subunit, demonstrated significant improvement in nasal symptoms and quality of life in patients with CRSwNP in several randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews. Similarly, mepolizumab and reslizumab, which target IL-5, have also shown efficacy in reducing nasal polyp burden and improving symptoms in patients with CRSwNP, particularly those with comorbid asthma. However, additional studies are required to confirm the long-term efficacy and safety of these biologics in treating CRSwNP. Conclusions: Biologic therapies have surfaced as a promising treatment option for patients with severe or refractory CRSwNP; however, the optimal patient population, dosage, and treatment duration are yet to be defined. The application of AI in decision-making protocols and the creation of therapeutic algorithms for biologic drug selection, could offer fascinating future prospects in the management of CRSwNP. Introduction: Chatbot generative pre-trained transformer (ChatGPT) is a new artificial intelligence-powered language model of chatbot able to help otolaryngologists in practice and research. We investigated the accuracy of ChatGPT-3.5 and -4 in the referencing of manuscripts published in otolaryngology. Methods: ChatGPT-3.5 and ChatGPT-4 were interrogated for providing references of the top-30 most cited papers in otolaryngology in the past 40 years including clinical guidelines and key studies that changed the practice. The responses were regenerated three times to assess the accuracy and stability of ChatGPT. ChatGPT-3.5 and ChatGPT-4 were compared for accuracy of reference and potential mistakes. Results: The accuracy of ChatGPT-3.5 and ChatGPT-4.0 ranged from 47% to 60%, and 73% to 87%, respectively (p < 0.005). ChatGPT-3.5 provided 19 inaccurate references and invented 2 references throughout the regenerated questions. ChatGPT-4.0 provided 13 inaccurate references, while it proposed only one invented reference. The stability of responses throughout regenerated answers was mild (k = 0.238) and moderate (k = 0.408) for ChatGPT-3.5 and 4.0, respectively. Conclusions: ChatGPT-4.0 reported higher accuracy than the free-access version (3.5). False references were detected in both 3.5 and 4.0 versions. Changes and modifications to existing products, known as engineering changes (EC), are common in complex product development. They require appropriate implementation planning and supervision to mitigate the economic downsides due to complexity. These tasks, however, take a high administrative toll on the organization. In response, automation by computer tools has been suggested. Due to the underlying process complexity, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) is advised. To support research and development of new AI-artifacts for EC management (ECM), a knowledge base is required. Thus, this paper aims to gather insights from existing approaches and discover literature gaps by conducting a systematic literature review. 39 publications applying AI methods and algorithms in ECM were identified and subsequently discussed. The analysis shows that the methods vary and are mostly utilized for predicting change propagation and knowledge retrieval. The review's results suggest that AI in EC requires developing distributed AI systems to manage the ensuing complexity. Additionally, five concrete suggestions are presented as future research needs: Research on metaheuristics for optimizing EC schedules, testing of stacked machine learning methods for process outcome prediction, establishment of process supervision, development of the mentioned distributed AI systems for automation, and validation with industry partners. Decarbonization of energy systems has been a recent trend during the last two decades where large-scale renewable energy sources (RES) are integrated into the modern power systems. Various countries have developed new energy policy instruments, such as Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), to promote the growth of RES. RECs are tradable, non-tangible assets, which have a monetary value. Tracking and certification of the origin of an energy resource regardless of its type (e.g., a conventional power plant or RES) are a critical operation. In addition to the certification of origin, trading transactions must be performed using a secure method. Energy industry participants need to secure the data and applications related to RECs. Digitalization technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and distributed ledger technology (DLT) are among the most popular and promising options. DLT is a perfect framework that can support such REC functionalities. Basketball motion image recognition is a challenging task, and traditional methods often face many limitations and difficulties. The purpose of this study is to explore the application of near-infrared spectral imaging and artificial intelligence technology in basketball motion image recognition to improve the recognition accuracy and robustness. In this paper, the near infrared spectral data of basketball movement images are collected, and an artificial intelligence classification model is established based on these data. The experimental results show that the basketball motion image recognition method based on near-infrared spectral imaging and artificial intelligence technology has achieved significant improvement in accuracy and robustness. Compared with traditional methods, our model can still perform accurate classification stably under different lighting conditions. This study proves the potential application of near-infrared spectral imaging and artificial intelligence classification in basketball motion image recognition. This method has important practical application value. The method can be further explored and optimized in the future to adapt to a wider range of motion scenarios and task requirements. A new area of study called photonic quantum information has emerged as a result of recent advancements in technology enabling the production, control, and detection of individual single photons. Realising single photon switches, creating photonic quantum circuits with specialised uses, and using new photonic states for optical metrology that goes beyond conventional optics are some examples of this advancement. Based on the author's previous and present efforts, the current state of photonic quantum information technology is reviewed in this review paper. The manufacturing sector is a fundamental pillar of worldwide economies, contributing markedly to global economic growth. However, the manufacturing industry is persistently confronted with issues impeding its development and expansion, such as manpower shortages, safety concerns, high initial investment for installation, and long return on investment. Within this context, machine tending has become a crucial component of the manufacturing process and potentially serves as a viable solution to the afore-mentioned predicaments. Over the past 5 years, implementing automated machine-tending systems has widely extended from simulation or laboratory environments to practical applications in manufacturing workshops as robotics and artificial intelligence develop rapidly. To fully benefit from the potential of machine-tending applications, it is necessary to comprehend and tackle its associated challenges. Therefore, this paper aims to contribute to the evolution of machine-tending applications by investigating the impacts of emerging trends of advanced technologies, such as autonomous mobile robots, computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning. This systematic literature review is based on the Protocol of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses to analyze the 50 scientific literature related to machine tending in the last five years. Microelectronics production failure analysis is an important step in improving product quality and development. In fact, the understanding of the failure mechanisms and therefore the implementation of corrective actions on the cause of the failure depend on the results of this analysis. These analyses are saved under textual features format. Then such data need first to be preprocessed and vectorized (converted to numeric). Second, to overcome the curse of dimensionality caused by the vectorisation process, a dimension reduction is applied. A two-stage variable selection and feature extraction is used to reduce the high dimensionality of a feature space. We are first interested in studying the potential of using an unsupervised variable selection technique, the genetic algorithm, to identify the variables that best demonstrate discrimination in the separation and compactness of groups of textual data. The genetic algorithm uses a combination of the K-means or Gaussian Mixture Model clustering and validity indices as a fitness function for optimization. Such a function improves both compactness and class separation. The second work looks into the feasibility of applying a feature extraction technique. The adopted methodology is a Deep learning algorithm based on variational autoencoder (VAE) for latent space disentanglement and Gaussian Mixture Model for clustering of the latent space for cluster identification. The last objective of this paper is to propose a new methodology based on the combination between variational autoencoder (VAE) for the latent space disentanglement, and genetic algorithm (GA) to find, in an unsupervised way, the latent variables allowing the best discrimination of clusters of failure analysis data. This methodology is called VAE-GA. Experiments on textual datasets of failure analysis demonstrate the effectiveness of the VAE-GA proposed method which allows better discrimination of textual classes compared to the use of GA or VAE separately or the combination of PCA with GA (PCA-GA) or a simple Auto-encoders with GA (AE-GA). Manual calculation of the compressive strength of concrete (CSC) is an expensive and time-consuming process. Soft computing methods outperform the statistical methods used to resolve these problems. Nonetheless, complicated prediction models are still incomplete and require more exploration. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) provide a better and faster technique featuring solitary hidden layers and have improved the generalization capacity. The present paper presents three ANN-based (shuffled complex evolution, evaporation rate based water cycle algorithm (ERWCA), and Cuckoo optimization algorithm) prediction models to anticipate the compressive strength of concrete efficiently. An available database from the UCI repository is employed to develop and access the model performance. A comparison is made between the prediction accuracies of the above three techniques. Using all models, a comparative investigation has been conducted to predict the compressive strength of concrete at the curing ages of 91, 56, and 28 days. The experimental findings obtained from the ERWCA-MLP method indicate its capability of robust CSC prediction. On average, this method achieves the minimum RMSE of 0.55314 and 0.43329 and R2 of 0.99803 and 0.99824. The purpose of this work is to describe the orkg-Leaderboard software designed to extract leaderboards defined as task–dataset–metric tuples automatically from large collections of empirical research papers in artificial intelligence (AI). The software can support both the main workflows of scholarly publishing, viz. as LaTeX files or as PDF files. Furthermore, the system is integrated with the open research knowledge graph (ORKG) platform, which fosters the machine-actionable publishing of scholarly findings. Thus, the systemsss output, when integrated within the ORKG's supported Semantic Web infrastructure of representing machine-actionable 'resources' on the Web, enables: (1) broadly, the integration of empirical results of researchers across the world, thus enabling transparency in empirical research with the potential to also being complete contingent on the underlying data source(s) of publications; and (2) specifically, enables researchers to track the progress in AI with an overview of the state-of-the-art across the most common AI tasks and their corresponding datasets via dynamic ORKG frontend views leveraging tables and visualization charts over the machine-actionable data. Our best model achieves performances above 90% F1 on the leaderboard extraction task, thus proving orkg-Leaderboards a practically viable tool for real-world usage. This paper presents a range of novel reinforcement learning algorithms derived from the actor–critic approach. These modified algorithms effectively utilize the available information to enhance performance. Our proposed framework introduces several key components to the traditional actor–critic model, including an underlying model learner, selector, tuner, and estimator. The estimator employs an approximate value function and the learned underlying model to estimate the values of all actions at the next state. The selector approximates the optimal action at the next state, which is then utilized by the actor to optimize its policy. In contrast to the conventional actor–critic algorithm where the actor focuses solely on policy optimization and the critic performs value-function approximation and policy evaluation, our selector–actor–critic algorithm employs a selector to approximate the optimal action at the current state, thereby influencing the actor's policy updates. Furthermore, our tuner–actor–critic algorithm incorporates a critic and a model-learner to approximate the action-value function and the dynamics of the underlying environment, respectively. The tuner then utilizes this information to adjust the value of the current state–action pair. In the estimator–selector–actor–critic algorithm, we develop intelligent agents based on the concepts of lookahead and intuition. Lookahead is utilized in estimating the values of available actions at the next state, while intuition guides the maximization of the probability of selecting the approximate optimal action. Through simulation experiments, we evaluate the performance of these algorithms, and the results demonstrate the superiority of the estimator–selector–actor–critic approach over other existing algorithms. As Electric Vehicles (EVs) become increasingly prevalent, accurately estimating Lithium-ion Batteries (LIBs) Remaining Useful Life (RUL) is crucial for ensuring safety and avoiding operational risks beyond their service life threshold. However, directly measuring battery capacity during EV operation is challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that leverages measurable features based on the discharge time and battery temperature to estimate RUL. Our framework relies on a novel feature extraction strategy that accurately characterizes the battery, leading to improved RUL predictions. Multiple machine learning algorithms are employed and evaluated. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method accurately estimates capacity with minimal hyperparameter tuning. The R 2 scores across various battery numbers indicate strong predictive performance for models like XGBoost, RF, AdaBoost, and others, with improvement percentages ranging from 85% to 99%, which the model's generalizability verifies across other batteries. To satisfy the optical network demands, effective network resource utilization is essential. Therefore, developing a tool with improved Quality of Transmission (QoT) accuracy in optical networks is necessary. This paper developed a novel DL-based cognitive QoT prediction model for Quantum optical communication networks. This proposed model predicts the QoT for the QoS (Quality of Service) setup using the DL model with the transmission computation. The proposed model utilized an optimized DL model called CNN-LSTM for the prediction process using the signal and link characteristics as input features. The DL model is trained using the transmission equations. The hyperparameters of the neural network are optimized using frog leap optimization to improve the predictive performance. Traditional coaches need to rely on experience and intuition to adjust athletes' movements and postures, which has the problems of strong subjectivity and unstable effects. In this paper, an image optical processing method based on artificial intelligence is proposed to realize the adaptive adjustment of aerobics athletes. The research uses the image optical processing technology to collect and analyze the movement of athletes in the training process and extract the key movement parameters. Then, combined with artificial intelligence algorithm, the extracted action parameters are analyzed and compared, so as to achieve accurate evaluation and adjustment of athletes' actions. Finally, the adjustment plan is applied to the training of athletes, and through real-time monitoring and feedback mechanisms, the athletes' movements and postures are continuously adjusted and optimized. Through experiments and practical applications, the system can accurately determine the movements and postures of athletes, and provide corresponding adjustment plans based on the actual situation. This paper proposes to enhance the capabilities of a Technical Vision System (TVS) based on optical scanning and dynamic triangulation for 3D spatial coordinates measurements to determine and add to the record of its measurements the color of the objects coordinates scanned. Optoelectronics signals output from the TVS scanning aperture contain a huge amount of data that cannot be friendly or obvious to human understanding and interpretation. However, time domain characteristic parameters can be extracted from the optoelectronics signals, which can describe aspects of the optoelectronic signal and the 3D spatial coordinate to whom it belongs; that is, it is specific and punctual information from the area of the object under scanning. In this theoretical and experimental evaluation, the parameters obtained from optoelectronics signals have been used as feature inputs for supervised learning and as an approach to implement artificial intelligence to the TVS signal processing by a model able to predict in real time the color of the 3D spatial coordinates measured. With an aim to eliminate or reduce the spread of hate content across social media platforms, the development of artificial intelligence supported computational predictors is an active area of research. However, diversity of languages hinders development of generic predictors that can precisely identify hate content. Several language-specific hate speech detection predictors have been developed for most common languages including English, Chinese and German. Specifically, for Urdu language a few predictors have been developed and these predictors lack in predictive performance. The paper in hand presents a precise and explainable deep learning predictor which makes use of advanced language modelling strategies for the extraction of semantic and discriminative patterns. Extracted patterns are utilized to train an attention-based novel classifier that is competent in precisely identifying hate content. Over coarse-grained benchmark dataset, the proposed predictor significantly outperforms state-of-the-art predictor by 8.7% in terms of accuracy, precision and F1-score. Similarly, over fine-grained dataset, in comparison with state-of-the-art predictor, it achieves performance gain of 10.6%, 17.6%, 18.6% and 17.6% in terms of accuracy, precision, recall and F1-score. In sports such as football, baseball, basketball, and tennis, advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and virtual reality (VR) have opened up new opportunities for training simulation and data analysis. Recently, these technologies have been applied to football to better analyze team behavior and individual player behavior. The existing work, however, relies solely on VR technology or AI; they do not combine the two. In this study, however, we proposed a three-dimensional tactical training system for football players that applies both AI and VR. To meet the needs of football players' training and improve the efficiency of football players' tactical training and competition results, this paper aims to conduct an in-depth study on the application of AI and VR technologies in football players' tactical training. We started with the design of a thorough system architecture, which links the perceptual interface and model calculus subsystems together. We created realistic three-dimensional football tactical training scenarios using virtual reality technology as part of the perceptual interaction domain. Additionally, the physical characteristics of football mobilization are computed using the model calculus subsystem as a component of logic modules to boost training realism. We incorporated an artificial neural network (ANN) into the framework of the system, providing real-time error feedback and changes. This ANN constitutes the nucleus of a cutting-edge training methodology and integrates effortlessly into our architectural framework. We carefully assessed the ANN's performance as well as the performance of the proposed model as a whole to demonstrate how well it works for football players and coaches. As a testbed for the development of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, Mahjong has become a hot spot in computer game research due its characteristics of imperfect information. An important aspect of the game is the evaluation of the quality of a hand, which significantly influences the decision-making process for players, including discarding tiles, pong, kong, and so on. In this paper, an effective and efficient algorithm is proposed to measure the quality (i.e., deficiency) of a Mahjong hand by introducing a hierarchical branch and bound method. In the proposed approach, an updating knowledge-based octree search method is first developed to explore all possible quasi-decompositions for one hand to ensure the correctness of the result. Meanwhile, an updated knowledge-based evaluation method is designed to calculate the cost of each quasi-decomposition, and a hierarchical branch and bound method is presented to accelerate the efficiency of getting its deficiency by layering the quasi-decompositions according to the number of their tiles. Moreover, the block decomposition is further adopted in the process of finding all quasi-decompositions to enhance its efficiency. Compared to existing methods, the proposed algorithm not only demonstrates computational efficiency but also provides the exact deficiency in all cases. Objective: To provide a comprehensive framework for value assessment of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology. Methods: This paper presents the RADAR framework, which has been adapted from Fryback and Thornbury's imaging efficacy framework to facilitate the valuation of radiology AI from conception to local implementation. Local efficacy has been newly introduced to underscore the importance of appraising an AI technology within its local environment. Furthermore, the RADAR framework is illustrated through a myriad of study designs that help assess value. Results: RADAR presents a seven-level hierarchy, providing radiologists, researchers, and policymakers with a structured approach to the comprehensive assessment of value in radiology AI. RADAR is designed to be dynamic and meet the different valuation needs throughout the AI's lifecycle. Initial phases like technical and diagnostic efficacy (RADAR-1 and RADAR-2) are assessed pre-clinical deployment via in silico clinical trials and cross-sectional studies. Subsequent stages, spanning from diagnostic thinking to patient outcome efficacy (RADAR-3 to RADAR-5), require clinical integration and are explored via randomized controlled trials and cohort studies. Cost-effectiveness efficacy (RADAR-6) takes a societal perspective on financial feasibility, addressed via health-economic evaluations. The final level, RADAR-7, determines how prior valuations translate locally, evaluated through budget impact analysis, multi-criteria decision analyses, and prospective monitoring. Conclusion: The RADAR framework offers a comprehensive framework for valuing radiology AI. In recent years, developments in the fields of computer vision and artificial intelligence have created new opportunities for studying sports performance. With advancements in computer vision and artificial intelligence, it is now possible to use massive volumes of video data to get deeper insights into sports dynamics, especially in precision-based video sports like table tennis. To develop skills, a thorough examination of player movements is required. With the development of vision-based human posture recognition, computers can function like humans and derive intelligent judgments from outside data. This paper presents a novel method that uses graph convolutional neural networks (GCNNs) to detect and identify improper postures and movements in table tennis players. In addition to conventional methods, the proposed method dissects the human skeleton into finely detailed head, trunk, and leg features. Deep-level features that offer a more comprehensive understanding of athlete movements are extracted after feeding these features into the network. The softmax classifier combines these features to produce the final recognition result. The effectiveness of this approach has been evaluated through extensive experimentation. The GCN model performs remarkably well, with accuracy rates of 86.4% on the NTU-RGB + D dataset and 79.1% on the COCO dataset. This accomplishment is significant because the model consistently yields accurate detection results, even in complex and occlusion-filled scenes. In comparison tests, the proposed model performs better than GraphSAGE, GAT, ChebNet, GIN, and GC-LSTM in identifying relevant body part movements in table tennis players while ignoring irrelevant ones. As the economy has grown rapidly in recent years, more and more people have begun putting their money into the stock market. Thus, predicting trends in the stock market is regarded as a crucial endeavor, and one that has proven to be more fruitful than others. Profitable investments will result in rising stock prices. Investors face significant difficulties making stock market-related predictions due to the lack of movement and noise in the data. In this paper, a new system for predicting stock market prices is introduced, namely stock market prediction based on deep leaning (SMP-DL). SMP-DL splits into two stages, which are (i) data preprocessing (DP) and (ii) stock price's prediction (SP2). In the first stage, data are preprocessed to obtain cleaned ones through several stages which are detect and reject missing value, feature selection, and data normalization. Then, in the second stage (e.g., SP2), the cleaned data will pass through the used predicted model. In SP2, long short-term memory (LSTM) combined with bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BiGRU) to predict the closing price of stock market. The obtained results showed that the proposed system perform well when compared to other existing methods. As RMSE, MSE, MAE, and R2 values are 0.2883, 0.0831, 0.2099, and 0.9948. This paper considers recent experiments in art and artificial intelligence that crystallize around training algorithms to generate artworks based on datasets derived from the Western art historical canon. Over the last decade, a shift towards the rejection of canonicity has begun to take shape in art historical discourse. At the same time, algorithmically enabled practices in the US and Europe have emerged that entrench the Western canon as a locus and guarantor of aesthetic value. Operating within the epistemic framework of a "view from nowhere," this tendency in generative art inherits the coloniality of both art history and artificial intelligence. Producing "art histories from nowhere," this tendency conflates the conceptual category of visual art with the histories of Western cultural production. It reproduces a set of aesthetic values that entrench the mythology of the artist-genius and his imputed whiteness and masculinity; the extolment of innovation and novelty as self-evident virtues; disembodied Cartesian models of knowing and sensing; and the erasure of contributions that have been occluded from canonical visibility. As we encounter systems trained on particular visions of art history and of the artist, how might we remain attentive to the specific lens through which they are taught to see? This essay addresses that question by bringing the coloniality of recent experiments into view, bridging data feminisms and decolonial studies to formulate alternative visions of encounters between art and AI. China communicates strategic narratives about artificial intelligence (AI) in digital media productions to create a shared meaning about its actions and its image in the global race to develop AI. Building upon the literature in emotions and strategic narratives, this study seeks to clarify which emotions are discursively used in China's international AI narratives, and their function and significance. Specifically, the study investigates emotion discourses in AI-focused videos disseminated on China's international broadcasting (CGTN YouTube channel). The analysis reveals that pride, hope and fear discourses have multiple functions in China's international AI narratives on CGTN. Hope is used to represent China as a key competitor in the global AI race, who is catching up to the US. China uses pride to showcase its advances in AI applications, to highlight its transformation of traditional industries, and to identity itself as equal to the US. Fear is used to frame US's perception of China's AI developments, to suggest their crisis of confidence, but also to refute the "China threat". Additionally, the fear discourse is used to deliberate anticipated risks, particularly on job loss and data privacy. These emotion discourses forge China's identity as a future global AI power. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the EU confirms the protection of personal data as a fundamental human right and affords data subjects more control over the way their personal information is processed, shared, and analyzed. However, where data are processed by artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, asserting control and providing adequate explanations is a challenge. Due to massive increases in computing power and big data processing, modern AI algorithms are too complex and opaque to be understood by most data subjects. Articles 15 and 22 of the GDPR provide a modest regulatory framework for automated data processing by, among other things, mandating that data controllers inform data subjects about when it is being used, and its logic and ramifications. Nevertheless, due to the phrasing of the articles and the numerous exceptions they allow, doubts have arisen about their effectiveness. In this paper, we empirically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of AI disclosures as mandated by the GDPR. By means of an online survey (N = 835), we investigated how data subjects expect to be informed about the automated processing of their data. We then conducted a content analysis of the AI disclosures of N = 100 companies and organizations. The combined findings reveal that current GDPR-mandated disclosures do not meet the expectations and needs of data subjects. Explanations drawn up following the guidelines of the generic formulations of the GDPR differ widely and are often vague, incomplete and lack transparency. Given the pervasiveness of AI systems and their potential negative effects on people's lives (especially among already marginalised groups), it becomes imperative to comprehend what goes on when an AI system generates a result, and based on what reasons, it is achieved. There are consistent technical efforts for making systems more "explainable" by reducing their opaqueness and increasing their interpretability and explainability. In this paper, we explore an alternative non-technical approach towards explainability that complement existing ones. Leaving aside technical, statistical, or data-related issues, we focus on the very conceptual underpinnings of the design decisions made by developers and other stakeholders during the lifecycle of a machine learning project. For instance, the design and development of an app to track snoring to detect possible health risks presuppose some picture or another of "health", which is a key notion that conceptually underpins the project. We take it as a premise that these key concepts are necessarily present during design and development, albeit perhaps tacitly. We argue that by providing "justificatory explanations" about how the team understands the relevant key concepts behind its design decisions, interested parties could gain valuable insights and make better sense of the workings and outcomes of systems. Using the concept of "health", we illustrate how a particular understanding of it might influence decisions during the design and development stages of a machine learning project, and how making this explicit by incorporating it into ex-post explanations might increase the explanatory and justificatory power of these explanations. We posit that a greater conceptual awareness of the key concepts that underpin design and development decisions may be beneficial to any attempt to develop explainability methods. We recommend that "justificatory explanations" are provided as technical documentation. These are declarative statements that contain at its simplest: (1) a high-level account of the understanding of the relevant key concepts a team possess related to a project's main domain, (2) how these understandings drive decision-making during the life-cycle stages, and (3) it gives reasons (which could be implicit in the account) that the person or persons doing the explanation consider to have plausible justificatory power for the decisions that were made during the project. Semantic relatedness is one of the most significant aspects of natural language processing. It has been identified as a critical technology for developing intelligent systems like Siri, Microsoft Ice, Cortana, and Xiaoai. In 2014, SemEval ranked SR as the top task. While the natural parallelism of membrane computing has shown promise for data processing, harnessing this potential to advance semantic relatedness remains an open problem yet to be tackled. This paper proposes a novel Siamese Manhattan LSTM-SNP approach (SiMaLSTM-SNP) for the SR problem. The approach uses a collaborative Word2vec and 10-Layer Attention strategy to represent and extract sentence pairs and a Siamese LSTM-SNP structure to calculate the hidden states of sentences. The multi-head self-attention layer identifies text associations and redistributes hidden state weights. The last hidden state is extracted, and the relatedness score is calculated using the Manhattan distance. The experiments demonstrate that SiMaLSTM-SNP outperforms 17 classical SR baselines and 7 novel approaches on the standard datasets SICK and STS in terms of mean square error performance. The paper estimates whether there is any relationship between life satisfaction and people's perceptions towards artificial intelligence. Using data from 39 European countries collected in 2021, it is consistently found that people with negative perceptions report lower life satisfaction. This finding is robust across a number of robustness checks. This provides further evidence that people may fear some new technologies, in this case artificial intelligence, which adds weight to governments needing to establish moratoriums to openly discuss what the objectives of new science, technologies and innovations are and how best to manage and steer policy and regulation to achieve these objectives. Estimating the axial force of rock bolts is vital for the stability and safety of underground excavations. Current methods suffer from being labor-intensive, time-consuming, and prone to inaccuracies. This paper presents a novel method for estimating the axial force of a rock bolt, a critical element in underground engineering, by analyzing the deformation field of the bearing plate. This innovative approach combines 3D laser scanning for data acquisition with a developed convolutional neural network (CNN) model for data processing, resulting in an efficient and non-destructive external monitoring technique. The proposed method was verified with 27 laboratory experiments. The results showed an accurate estimation of the axial forces of rock bolts with an average error of ± 5 kN, underlining the method's potential for in-situ application in underground engineering. This research not only contributes to the development of intelligent systems in rock mechanics and engineering but also has significant implications for industries, such as mining, tunneling, and underground engineering. The recent appearance of generative artificial intelligence (AI) platforms has been seen by many as disruptive for education. In this paper I attempt to locate the source of tension between educational goals and new information technologies including AI. I argue that this tension arises from new conceptions of epistemic agency that are incompatible with educational aims. I describe three competing theories of epistemic agency which I refer to as Makers, Managers, and Inforgs. I contend that educators are correct in maintaining the first of these, which is rooted in the educational theories of Locke and Dewey, as their main educational purpose. Sustainability in our food and fiber agriculture systems is inherently knowledge intensive. It is more likely to be achieved by using all the knowledge, technology, and resources available, including data-driven agricultural technology and precision agriculture methods, than by relying entirely on human powers of observation, analysis, and memory following practical experience. Data collected by sensors and digested by artificial intelligence (AI) can help farmers learn about synergies between the domains of natural systems that are key to simultaneously achieve sustainability and food security. In the quest for agricultural sustainability, some high-payoff research areas are suggested to resolve critical legal and technical barriers as well as economic and social constraints. These include: the development of holistic decision-making systems, automated animal intake measurement, low-cost environmental sensors, robot obstacle avoidance, integrating remote sensing with crop and pasture models, extension methods for data-driven agriculture, methods for exploiting naturally occurring Genotype x Environment x Management experiments, innovation in business models for data sharing and data regulation reinforcing trust. In this paper, we study the following robust optimization problem. Given a set family representing feasibility and candidate objective functions, we choose a feasible set, and then an adversary chooses one objective function, knowing our choice. The goal is to find a randomized strategy (i.e., a probability distribution over the feasible sets) that maximizes the expected objective value in the worst case. This problem is fundamental in wide areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, game theory, and optimization. To solve the problem, we provide a general framework based on the dual linear programming problem. In the framework, we utilize the ellipsoid algorithm with the approximate separation algorithm. We prove that there exists an α -approximation algorithm for our robust optimization problem if there exists an α -approximation algorithm for finding a (deterministic) feasible set that maximizes a nonnegative linear combination of the candidate objective functions. Using our result, we provide approximation algorithms for the max–min fair randomized allocation problem and the maximum cardinality robustness problem with a knapsack constraint.
