Objectives: To develop a deep learning methodology that distinguishes early from late stages of avascular necrosis of the hip (AVN) to determine treatment decisions. Methods: Three convolutional neural networks (CNNs) VGG-16, Inception ResnetV2, InceptionV3 were trained with transfer learning (ImageNet) and finetuned with a retrospectively collected cohort of (n = 104) MRI examinations of AVN patients, to differentiate between early (ARCO 1–2) and late (ARCO 3–4) stages. A consensus CNN ensemble decision was recorded as the agreement of at least two CNNs. CNN and ensemble performance was benchmarked on an independent cohort of 49 patients from another country and was compared to the performance of two MSK radiologists. CNN performance was expressed with areas under the curve (AUC), the respective 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and precision, and recall and f1-scores. AUCs were compared with DeLong's test. Results: On internal testing, Inception-ResnetV2 achieved the highest individual performance with an AUC of 99.7% (95%CI 99–100%), followed by InceptionV3 and VGG-16 with AUCs of 99.3% (95%CI 98.4–100%) and 97.3% (95%CI 95.5–99.2%) respectively. The CNN ensemble the same AUCs Inception ResnetV2. On external validation, model performance dropped with VGG-16 achieving the highest individual AUC of 78.9% (95%CI 51.6–79.6%) The best external performance was achieved by the model ensemble with an AUC of 85.5% (95%CI 72.2–93.9%). No significant difference was found between the CNN ensemble and expert MSK radiologists (p = 0.22 and 0.092 respectively). Conclusion: An externally validated CNN ensemble accurately distinguishes between the early and late stages of AVN and has comparable performance to expert MSK radiologists. The wind power generation is highly dependent on current weather conditions. In the course of the energy transition, the generation levels from volatile wind energy are constantly increasing. Accordingly, the prediction of regional wind power generation is a particularly important and challenging task due to the highly distributed installations. This paper presents a study on the role of regional wind power infeed estimation and proposes a multi-aggregated wind power characteristics model based on three scaled Gumbel distribution functions. Multi-levels of wind turbines and their allocation are investigated for the regional aggregated wind power. Relative peak power performance and full load hours are compared for the proposed model and the real measurement obtained from a local distribution system operator. Furthermore, artificial intelligence technologies using neural networks, such as Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), stacked LSTM and CNN–LSTM, are investigated by using different historical measurement as input data. The challenges posed by the future wireless communication network, which will be a huge system with more complex structures, diverse functions, and massive communication ends, will be addressed by intelligent wireless communication technologies. These technologies are playing an increasingly important role in network architecture, computing architecture, resource allocation algorithm design, etc., thanks to the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies, particularly the deep learning technologies, and their extensive application in various domains. In this paper, an endogenous intelligent architecture is developed to effectively clarify and understand in-depth the relationship among the factors by constructing wireless knowledge graph for the air interface transmission, the core network, as well as the network environment, and so on. Furthermore, the knowledge graph simultaneously reveals the structure and operation mechanism of the whole wireless communication networks. Cause tracing, intelligent optimization, and performance evaluation are sequentially implemented based on the knowledge graph, thus forming a complete closed-loop for endogenous intelligent wireless communication networks. Traditional methods of automatic generation of recruitment text usually rely on a large number of data annotation and complex statistical algorithms, but these methods have certain limitations. In order to further optimize the processing power of neural network and improve its computational efficiency and stability, this paper aims to solve the shortcomings of convergence and local vulnerability in existing neural network algorithms, and make general improvements to them. Through optical detection and improved neural network algorithm, a more efficient method of automatic generation of artificial intelligence recruitment text is developed. Candidates' resumes are pre-processed with light detection technology to extract key information and filter out spam text. Then the processed text is input into the improved neural network model for training to improve the quality of recruitment text generation. The experimental results show that the proposed method has achieved significant improvement in the accuracy and readability of the automatic generation of recruitment texts, which can provide high quality recruitment texts for human resources departments, improve recruitment efficiency and reduce labor costs. Artificial intelligence (AI) has quickly integrated into contemporary healthcare organizations, providing a variety of purposes, including identifying diseases, individualized therapy suggestions, and healthcare picture analytics. However, substantial security concerns are raised by the extensive use of AI in Healthcare, particularly regarding the reliability and confidentiality of private patient information. In this paper, we offer quantum photonic convolutional neural network (QP-CNN) to strengthen AI-based healthcare systems' security to overcome this crucial issue. To create an innovative convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture capable of handling the quantum computations that can endanger the safety of patient data, we analyze the special aspects of quantum photonics in this study. We explore the basic ideas behind quantum photonic computation and show how they can be used to develop strong cryptography methods for securing healthcare information during transport and preservation. Initially, we gather the dataset and preprocess the collected data using min–max normalization to remove duplicates and guarantee homogeneity. The subsequent stage involves utilizing principal component analysis (PCA) to extract pertinent features from the preprocessed data. We simulate trials with Python 3.11 software to assess the efficiency of the suggested algorithm. In terms of accuracy (82.67%), precision (82%), recall (75.84%), and F1-score (85%), specificity (95.67%), AUC (93.15%). Our results show that the QP-CNN technique outperforms other methods in effectiveness. Denim clothes are the must-have items of clothing around the world. This kind of fabrics is evolving with the increasing consumer demand in order to keep its place as a versatile article. In this context, this paper contributes to the development and dyeing of a new blend fabric made of cotton fibers and bicomponent polyester filaments (PET/PTT). A comparative study between the mechanical and thermal properties of this fabric and conventional fabrics has confirmed the great interest to use bicomponent (PET/PTT) filaments in the manufacture of denim fabrics; these bicomponent filaments allow to give to wearer the desired elasticity and comfort. For dyeing (cotton/bicomponent polyester filaments) blend fabric, three different processes, using reactive and disperse dyes, were tested and analyzed. These dyeing processes are: two-baths/two-phases, one-bath/two-phases, and one-bath/one-phase processes. In addition, in order to obtain uniform shades between cotton fibers dyed with reactive dyes and bicomponent polyester filaments dyed with disperse dyes, an ant colony algorithm was elaborated to predict the optimal dye recipes. By observing obtained results, the developed algorithm is very effective; it allows to find the combination of reactive dyes necessary to achieve the same shade obtained by the disperse dyes with very small color differences between the two components and without having to make corrections mainly for the one-bath/two-phases process. Indeed, dyeing using the two processes (two baths/two phases and one bath/two phases) presents the best values of color yield (K/S) with almost similar results (ΔECMC(2:1) < < 1). For the one-bath/one-phase process, it presents less significant results; We can observe ΔECMC(2:1) greater than 1 in certain shades. Artificial Intelligence (AI) carries the potential for unprecedented disruption in radiology, with possible positive and negative consequences. The integration of AI in radiology holds the potential to revolutionize healthcare practices by advancing diagnosis, quantification, and management of multiple medical conditions. Nevertheless, the ever-growing availability of AI tools in radiology highlights an increasing need to critically evaluate claims for its utility and to differentiate safe product offerings from potentially harmful, or fundamentally unhelpful ones. This multi-society paper, presenting the views of Radiology Societies in the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, defines the potential practical problems and ethical issues surrounding the incorporation of AI into radiological practice. In addition to delineating the main points of concern that developers, regulators, and purchasers of AI tools should consider prior to their introduction into clinical practice, this statement also suggests methods to monitor their stability and safety in clinical use, and their suitability for possible autonomous function. This statement is intended to serve as a useful summary of the practical issues which should be considered by all parties involved in the development of radiology AI resources, and their implementation as clinical tools. Interpretability fosters trust when humans and artificial intelligence (AI) systems interact, and its value for neural networks in particular cannot be overstated. In this paper, we analyse the emergence and value of neural modularity as it relates to interpretability. We compare the modularity evolved through connectivity constraints in terms of network Q-scores and examine the interpretable qualities of the resultant networks with functional subset regression. The connectivity constraints compared here include those proposed by previous research as well as several novel variations formulated to express neuron input competition and connections per neuron variance. Networks were evolved using HyperNEAT on a free-form substrate. The results indicate that the connection costs successfully promote the evolution of neural modularity across a variety of tasks and show that the novel connection cost variations are competitive with previously explored connection costs. The interpretability assessment shows that while the evolved networks' interpretable qualities are task dependent, two of the compared connection costs deliver statistically different functional module overlap distributions. Purpose: To propose a new quality scoring tool, METhodological RadiomICs Score (METRICS), to assess and improve research quality of radiomics studies. Methods: We conducted an online modified Delphi study with a group of international experts. It was performed in three consecutive stages: Stage#1, item preparation; Stage#2, panel discussion among EuSoMII Auditing Group members to identify the items to be voted; and Stage#3, four rounds of the modified Delphi exercise by panelists to determine the items eligible for the METRICS and their weights. The consensus threshold was 75%. Based on the median ranks derived from expert panel opinion and their rank-sum based conversion to importance scores, the category and item weights were calculated. Result: In total, 59 panelists from 19 countries participated in selection and ranking of the items and categories. Final METRICS tool included 30 items within 9 categories. According to their weights, the categories were in descending order of importance: study design, imaging data, image processing and feature extraction, metrics and comparison, testing, feature processing, preparation for modeling, segmentation, and open science. A web application and a repository were developed to streamline the calculation of the METRICS score and to collect feedback from the radiomics community. Conclusion: In this work, we developed a scoring tool for assessing the methodological quality of the radiomics research, with a large international panel and a modified Delphi protocol. With its conditional format to cover methodological variations, it provides a well-constructed framework for the key methodological concepts to assess the quality of radiomic research papers. Autoregressive language models, which use deep learning to produce human-like texts, have surged in prevalence. Despite advances in these models, concerns arise about their equity across diverse populations. While AI fairness is discussed widely, metrics to measure equity in dialogue systems are lacking. This paper presents a framework, rooted in deliberative democracy and science communication studies, to evaluate equity in human–AI communication. Using it, we conducted an algorithm auditing study to examine how GPT-3 responded to different populations who vary in sociodemographic backgrounds and viewpoints on crucial science and social issues: climate change and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. We analyzed 20,000 dialogues with 3290 participants differing in gender, race, education, and opinions. We found a substantively worse user experience among the opinion minority groups (e.g., climate deniers, racists) and the education minority groups; however, these groups changed attitudes toward supporting BLM and climate change efforts much more compared to other social groups after the chat. GPT-3 used more negative expressions when responding to the education and opinion minority groups. China's commitment to "governing the nation by law" has elevated the need for legal expertise. As society evolves, pedagogical approaches must adapt. Information and communication technology trends, combined with the rise of the IoT, are reshaping education and offering tools to bolster campus security, monitor vital assets, and enrich classroom accessibility. This paper proposes an AI-based hybrid model and an IoT-infused teaching approach personalized for legal education in colleges and universities, employing the decision tree algorithm. The study's focal point is the development of legal professionals possessing the robust capabilities and qualities society seeks, using teaching methods compatible with modern information technology. The foundation of this endeavor lies in the hybrid teaching mode, specifically Internet-based legal research. Within this platform, educators can disseminate instructional materials, videos, and exercises, with the option to enlist teaching assistants to aid in managing student learning. Comparing varied and traditional teaching classes, the passing rates were 96.75% and 95.36%, respectively. Data analysis using decision trees identifies factors influencing these rates. The study also evaluates students' accuracy in five in-class exercises; in the mixed class, correctness rates were 96.4%, 93.5%, 82.5%, 64.2%, and 62.8%. The metaverse is seen as a future generation of the Internet in which the virtual and the real merge into a common world. Technologies such as IoT, cloud computing, artificial intelligence or the reality–virtuality continuum underpin the metaverse and condition its evolution. This paper presents a bibliometric study on the WoS database (from 1995 to 2022) to obtain a comprehensive and non-subjective understanding of the metaverse. The study identifies the main subject areas and sources, the leading countries and authors. It also analyzes the evolution over time and the core and future research themes. Extended reality, blockchain, artificial intelligence and sensors are identified as core themes, while building information modeling, digital twins and governance emerge as future themes. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques may lead to significant improvements in different aspects of rail sector. Considering asset management and maintenance, AI can improve data analysis and asset status forecasting and decision-making processes, fostering predictive and prescriptive maintenance strategies. A prescriptive approach should be able to predict future scenarios as well as to suggest a course of actions. Nevertheless, the decision-making in rail asset management is often based on the classical asset-oriented approach, concentrating on the function of the asset itself as a main key performance indicator (KPI), whereas a user-oriented approach could lead to improved performance in terms of level of service. This paper is aimed at integrating the passengers' perspective in the decision-making process for asset management to mitigate the impact that service interruptions may have on the final users. A data-driven prioritisation framework is developed to prioritise maintenance interventions taking into account asset status and criticality. In particular, a three-step approach is proposed, which focuses on the analysis of passenger data to evaluate the failure impact on the service, the analysis of alarms and anomalies to evaluate the asset status, and the suggestion of maintenance interventions. The proposed approach is applied to the maintenance of the metro line M5 in the Italian city of Milan. Results show the usefulness of the proposed approach to support infrastructure managers and maintenance operators in making decisions regarding the priority of maintenance activities, reducing the risk of critical failures and service interruptions. The timely and accurate diagnosis of candidemia, a severe bloodstream infection caused by Candida spp., remains challenging in clinical practice. Blood culture, the current gold standard technique, suffers from lengthy turnaround times and limited sensitivity. To address these limitations, we propose a novel approach utilizing an Electronic Nose (E-nose) combined with Time Series-based classification techniques to analyze and identify Candida spp. rapidly, using culture species of C. albicans, C.kodamaea ohmeri, C. glabrara, C. haemulonii, C. parapsilosis and C. krusei as control samples. This innovative method not only enhances diagnostic accuracy and reduces decision time for healthcare professionals in selecting appropriate treatments but also offers the potential for expanded usage and cost reduction due to the E-nose's low production costs. Our proof-of-concept experimental results, carried out with culture samples, demonstrate promising outcomes, with the Inception Time classifier achieving an impressive average accuracy of 97.46% during the test phase. In recent years, along with the rapid development in the domain of artificial intelligence and aerospace, aerospace combined with artificial intelligence is the future trend. As an important basic tool for Natural Language Processing, Named Entity Recognition technology can help obtain key relevant knowledge from a large number of aerospace data. In this paper, we produced an aerospace domain entity recognition dataset containing 30 k sentences in Chinese and developed a named entity recognition model that is Multi-Feature Fusion Transformer (MFT), which combines features such as words and radicals to enhance the semantic information of the sentences. In our model, the double Feed-forward Neural Network is exploited as well to ensure MFT better performance. We use our aerospace dataset to train MFT. The paper examines methods for assessing the distribution of elements in a stochastic matrix assuming the exponential distribution of elements in the corresponding adjacency matrix of a graph. Two cases are considered: the first assumes the homogeneity of all the graph vertices, while the second assumes the heterogeneity in the distribution of vertices with the corresponding density calculations. Flower color is one of the most important traits in horticulture, and is one of the characteristics recorded to describe new varieties. In this paper, we examine four large real-world databases of roses and gerberas containing both images and color descriptions, and use state-of-the-art methods to automatically extract color descriptions from the images. Both Deep Learning and methods based on color histograms lead to success rates of approximately 85%. With the advancement in modern imaging techniques like CT scan, MRI, PET scan etc., a vast amount of data is generated every day in the field of healthcare. Big data contains hidden information, which necessitates the development of intelligent systems to analyze it and extract relevant information, allowing for accurate and cost-effective decisions in the medical field. By utilizing the untapped potential of the big data available in the medical field, very precise models can be developed for the medical diagnosis of retinal diseases. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that captures different, distinctive layers of the retina and optic nerve in a living eye to map and measure their thickness, that helps diagnose various retinal disorders. With the advancement of the application of deep learning-based techniques in the field of medical sciences, the use of convolutional neural network (CNN) based approaches for disease detection is gaining popularity. While the manual examination of 3D OCT images for the diagnosis of retinal disorders requires extensive time and expert intervention, the use of CNNs provides an effective automated option that provides results with higher accuracy while also reducing the time involved in the overall process. In this paper, we have implemented the aforementioned idea by proposing OCT-CNN, a CNN architecture, that automatically classifies retinal OCT images and identifies potential disorders in a living eye. Several techniques have been employed to enhance the performance of the proposed approach, including digital enhancement of the images, dropout regularization, adaptive learning rates, and early stopping of training to attain optimal performance. The performance of the proposed OCT-CNN is evaluated on the UCSD dataset against several popular deep CNN architectures and existing state-of-the-art approaches to automatic retinal OCT classification. The proposed OCT-CNN attains the best performance on all evaluated metrics, pushing the classification accuracies to 99.28% on CNV, 99.9% on DME, 99.38% on DRUSEN, and 100% on NORMAL images, indicating its superiority over existing state-of-the-art techniques. Businesses nowadays often feel impelled to rush and implement Big Data and Artificial Intelligence initiatives in their organizations without clarity on their business problems, nor the appropriate methodologies for extracting actionable insights from the data. In contrast, this paper presents a process that starts with an articulated business problem instead of a "data rush". The presented process, dubbed the Business-Driven Data-Supported (BDDS) process, is rigorously anchored in concepts from Theory of Constraints and Information Theory. BDDS guides businesses in solving their problems by stating observed performance gaps, uncovering their underlying root cause, formulating the "right question", utilizing only the "right data", and choosing the "right methodology" to extract the "right information" from the data, leading to the "right actionable insights." Also provided is a prescriptive framework, dubbed the Data-to-Information-Extraction-Methodology (DIEM), for selecting the "right methodology", based on the understanding level of relevant system dependencies and the availability of relevant data. The BDDS process is illustrated by an example from the healthcare industry, and the efficacy and applicability of the DIEM framework are supported by eleven case studies from a broad range of industries. Objectives: To investigate the model-, code-, and data-sharing practices in the current radiomics research landscape and to introduce a radiomics research database. Methods: A total of 1254 articles published between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2022, in leading radiology journals (European Radiology, European Journal of Radiology, Radiology, Radiology: Artificial Intelligence, Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging, Radiology: Imaging Cancer) were retrospectively screened, and 257 original research articles were included in this study. The categorical variables were compared using Fisher's exact tests or chi-square test and numerical variables using Student's t test with relation to the year of publication. Results: Half of the articles (128 of 257) shared the model by either including the final model formula or reporting the coefficients of selected radiomics features. A total of 73 (28%) models were validated on an external independent dataset. Only 16 (6%) articles shared the data or used publicly available open datasets. Similarly, only 20 (7%) of the articles shared the code. A total of 7 (3%) articles both shared code and data. All collected data in this study is presented in a radiomics research database (RadBase) and could be accessed at https://github.com/EuSoMII/RadBase. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, the majority of published radiomics models were not technically reproducible since they shared neither model nor code and data. There is still room for improvement in carrying out reproducible and open research in the field of radiomics. Clinical relevance statement: To date, the reproducibility of radiomics research and open science practices within the radiomics research community are still very low. Ensuring reproducible radiomics research with model-, code-, and data-sharing practices will facilitate faster clinical translation. In this method, we adopted the ANN as the structural descriptor for a population of structures that broadly samples the design space and the popular gradient-based solution framework (i.e., the solid isotropic material with penalization, SIMP) to integrate the ANN and finite element analysis of the structures. In such a solution framework, the weights and bias associated with the ANN become the design variables to re-parameterize the density fields of a set of designs used in SIMP but independent of the finite element mesh. These design variables are optimized via the ANN's built-in back-propagation, where a group of points in the design space synergistically evolve under the gradient-based solution framework. Novel loss functions encoding all the sampled structural performances and topology awareness are proposed, including a competitive mechanism-based loss function for converged design and a population diversity-preserving strategy-based loss function to obtain diverse and competitive designs. Correspondingly, a combination of the adjoint method and automatic differentiation algorithm is introduced for the sensitivity analysis. We refer to this method as a multi-point synergistic gradient evolution method. Its efficiency and applicability are demonstrated through 2D and 3D examples. Human computer interaction (HCI) has grown into a mature field of research. With artificial intelligence (AI) finding ubiquitous applications, HCI research is now moving ahead towards accommodating and integrating these approaches. A part of the research community is of the opinion that HCI and AI are fundamentally opposed to each other: with AI-powered devices being demonic and humans are to lose in a race against them and HCI-oriented products being human centred being the flag bearers of the human race. In this paper, we look at and analyse this perspective of how HCI relates to AI and the potential HCI–AI integration. We suggest that humans evolve by having dynamic identities. This escalating risk encompasses potential breaches of user privacy, unauthorized access to transmitted data, and targeted attacks on the underlying network infrastructure. To safeguard the integrity and security of modern networked societies, the deployment of Network Intrusion Detection Systems is imperative. This paper presents a novel lightweight detection model that seamlessly integrates Spiking Neural Networks and Convolutional Neural Networks with advanced algorithmic frameworks. Leveraging this hybrid approach, the proposed model achieves superior detection accuracy while maintaining efficiency in terms of power consumption and computational resources. This paper presents a new style recognition model that seamlessly integrates spiking neural networks and convolutional neural networks with advanced algorithmic frameworks. We call this combined method Spiking-HCCN. Using this hybrid approach, Spiking-HCCN achieves superior detection accuracy while maintaining efficiency in terms of power consumption and computational resources. Comparative evaluations against state-of-the-art models, including Spiking GCN and Spike-DHS, demonstrate significant performance advantages. Spiking-HCCN outperforms these benchmarks by 24% in detection accuracy, 21% in delay, and 29% in energy efficiency, underscoring its efficacy in fortifying network security in the face of evolving cyber threats. This paper constructs a method based on the Psychological Data Assistance Mining Crisis Analysis (PDAMCA) to predict learners’ behaviour for evaluating educational and personal information. The increasing developments in mobile internet, data mining, and artificial intelligence technology have made college students’ traditional management structure and time-management strategies insufficient. The objective of the proposed study is to enhance the results of multicultural education by utilizing Artificial Intelligence in the shape of Multicultural Data Assistance Mining Analysis. This paper will examine the educational approach based on the PDAMCA algorithm for Ideological and Political Education in a Smart Education Platform. First, the real needs of multicultural education for university students should be discussed. Secondly, the preparation standards for college students should be essential to us. Developing a more intelligent management model for college students has become vital for improving student management and job performance. The academic administration of the pupils is carried out through data mining and artificial intelligence. The findings indicate that PDAMCA has successfully fostered cross-cultural competence and awareness among its students, as evidenced by an average score of 93.6% on the Cross-Cultural competence index and 82.6% on the multicultural awareness index. Fog and cloud computing are emerging paradigms that enable distributed and scalable data processing and analysis. However, these paradigms also pose significant challenges for workflow scheduling and assigning related tasks or jobs to available resources. Resources in fog and cloud environments are heterogeneous, dynamic, and uncertain, requiring efficient scheduling algorithms to optimize costs and latency and to handle faults for better performance. This paper aims to comprehensively survey existing workflow scheduling techniques for fog and cloud environments and their essential challenges. We analyzed 82 related papers published recently in reputable journals. We propose a subjective taxonomy that categorizes the critical difficulties in existing work to achieve this goal. Then, we present a systematic overview of existing workflow scheduling techniques for fog and cloud environments, along with their benefits and drawbacks. We also analyze different workflow scheduling techniques for various criteria, such as performance, costs, reliability, scalability, and security. The outcomes reveal that 25% of the scheduling algorithms use heuristic-based mechanisms, and 75% use different Artificial Intelligence (AI) based and parametric modelling methods. Makespan is the most significant parameter addressed in most articles. The technological revolution brought by the Internet of Things (IoT) has mostly relied on cloud computing. However, to satisfy the demands of time-sensitive services in the medical industry, fog computing, a novel computational platform based on the cloud computing paradigm, has shown to be a useful tool by extending cloud resources to the network’s edge. The current paper examines the role of the fog paradigm in the domain of healthcare decision-making, focusing on its primary advantages in terms of latency, network utilization, and power consumption. A fog-computing-based health assessment framework is developed in the current paper. Moreover, based on effective performance parameters, the performance is evaluated and depicted. The results show that the presented strategy can reduce network congestion of the communication network by analyzing information at the local node. Moreover, increased security on health information can be maintained at local fog node, and enhanced data protection from unauthorized access can be acquired. The vision of integrating artificial intelligence in education is part of an ongoing push for harnessing digital solutions to improve teaching and learning. Drawing from Jasanoff and Hasse, this paper deliberates on how sociotechnical imaginaries are interrelated to the implications of new technologies, such as AI, in education. Complicating Hasses’s call for the development of Socratic ignorance to consider our predispositions about new technologies and open new prospects of thought, this paper revisits postphenomenology and Feenberg’s critical constructivist theories. While embracing the notion of Socratic ignorance, this paper stresses the importance of developing a nuanced understanding of technology that realizes its lack of neutrality and supports the creation of a deeper understanding of how knowledge is produced, deployed, and interpreted in the digital age. Thus, this paper argues that an amalgam of Hasse’s call for advancing Socratic ignorance combined with postphenomenology and critical constructivism can support students in developing a critical understanding of technology and opening new landscapes of imaginaries. As the number of patients suffering from DR increases, so does the delay in treatment for DR diagnosis. To bridge this gap, an efficient DR screening system that assists clinicians is required. Although many artificial intelligence (AI) screening systems have been deployed in recent years, accuracy remains a metric that can be improved.An enumerative pre-processing approach is implemented in the deep learning model to attain better accuracies for DR severity grading. The proposed approach is compared with various pre-trained models, and the necessary performance metrics were tabulated. This paper also presents the comparative analysis of various optimization algorithms that are utilized in the deep network model, and the results were outlined.The experimental results are carried out on the MESSIDOR dataset to assess the performance. The experimental results show that an enumerative pipeline combination K1-K2-K3-DFNN-LOA shows better results when compared with other combinations. When compared with various optimization algorithms and pre-trained models, the proposed model has better performance with maximum accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, and macro-averaged metric of 97.60%, 94.60%, 98.40%, 94.60%, and 0.97, respectively.This study focussed on developing and implementing a DR screening system on color fundus photographs. However, owing to its dynamic topological structures, large network scale, and mobile limitation, IoV systems still struggle with many unresolved challenges, especially those concerning security and privacy. Therefore, researchers consider security a significant concern due to the variety of vulnerabilities. Recently, existing security researchers have worked extensively to guarantee IoV security. However, multiple challenges in terms of security and privacy are generated by various types of attacks, such as authentication and identification attacks, availability attacks, confidentiality attacks, and data authenticity attacks. In this context, we provide a systematic review of emerging security and privacy vulnerabilities IoV and identify current challenges and the remaining open issues. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) face many barriers to meaningful inclusion, including limited language and communication skills. Professionals, such as speech-language pathologists (SLPs), can provide personalized instruction to promote skill development and inclusion. Providing opportunities for individuals to express preferences and choice, such as the multiple stimulus without replacement preference assessment (MSWO; DeLeon & Iwata 1996), within these programs, further increases skill acquisition and social interaction. However, limitations in professionals’ knowledge and skills in performing assessments can be another barrier to meaningful inclusion for individuals with IDD and traditional training methods can be challenging and time consuming. The purpose of the current study was to compare the use of artificial intelligence with traditional pen and paper self-instructional MSWO training methods for five preservice SLPs. Fidelity of implementation and duration of assessment were measured. Results demonstrated a large increase in implementation fidelity for two participants, a moderate increase for two participants and a slight increase for the remaining participant while using artificial intelligence. All participants demonstrated a decrease in scoring errors using artificial intelligence. Regarding duration of implementation, artificial intelligence resulted in a significant reduction for four participants and a moderate reduction for the remaining participant. Results of the follow-up survey suggest that all adult participants and both child participants found that artificial intelligence had a higher treatment acceptability and was more effective at producing socially significant outcomes than traditional methods. This paper introduces AI-PotatoGuard, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool which enhances the management of diseases in potatoes through the use of generative models and convolutional neural networks (CNN). In contrast to traditional practices, AI-PotatoGuard is a tool which provides the ability to detect potatoes in the early stages of the disease and also precisely detects the area affected. Through AI-PotatoGuard, it was observed that the conventional approach of identifying the diseases have been surpassed with 95% success observed in terms of getting the detection perfectly right and 85% in terms of getting the detection right at a much earlier stage. Traditional practices lagged with 75% detection right observation and a mere 50% in terms of detecting the disease early on. While traditional methods applied chemicals 2–3 times in practice in an area, the monitoring with AI-PotatoGuard resulted in only 2 out of 6 times in the same area. Digitalization is continuing facilitating our daily lives. The world is interconnected as never before, bringing close people, businesses, or other organizations. However, hackers are also coming close. New business and operational models require the collection and processing of massive amounts of data in real-time, involving utilization of complex information systems, large supply-chains, personal devices, etc. These impose several advantages for adversaries on the one hand (e.g., poorly protected or monitored elements, slow fashion of security updates/upgrades in components that gain little attention, etc.), and many difficulties for defenders on the other hand (e.g., administrate large and complex systems with high dynamicity) in this cyber-security interplay. Impactful attacks on ICT systems, critical infrastructures, and supply networks, as well as cyber-warfare are deriving the necessity for more effective defensives. This paper presents a swarm-intelligence solution for incident handling and response. Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) is continuously integrated in the system (i.e., MISP, CVEs, STIX, etc.), and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) are incorporated in the risk assessment and event evaluation processes. Several incident handling and response sub-procedures are automated, improving effectiveness and decreasing response time. Information concerning identified malicious activity is circulated back to the community (i.e., via the MISP information sharing platform) in an open loop. The proposal is applied in the supply-chain of healthcare organizations in Europe (considering also EU data protection regulations). Prostate cancer (PCa) remains the leading malignancy affecting men, with over 3 million men living with the disease in the US, and an estimated 288,000 new cases and almost 35,000 deaths in 2023 in the United States alone. Over the last few decades, imaging has been a cornerstone in PCa care, with a crucial role in the detection, staging, and assessment of PCa recurrence or by guiding diagnostic or therapeutic interventions. To improve diagnostic accuracy and outcomes in PCa care, remarkable advancements have been made to different imaging modalities in recent years. This paper focuses on reviewing the main innovations in the field of PCa magnetic resonance imaging, including MRI protocols, MRI-guided procedural interventions, artificial intelligence algorithms and positron emission tomography, which may impact PCa care in the future. The goal of the growing discipline of neuro-symbolic artificial intelligence (AI) is to develop AI systems with more human-like reasoning capabilities by combining symbolic reasoning with connectionist learning. We survey the literature on neuro-symbolic AI during the last two decades, including books, monographs, review papers, contribution pieces, opinion articles, foundational workshops/talks, and related PhD theses. Four main features of neuro-symbolic AI are discussed, including representation, learning, reasoning, and decision-making. Finally, we discuss the many applications of neuro-symbolic AI, including question answering, robotics, computer vision, healthcare, and more. Scalability, explainability, and ethical considerations are also covered, as well as other difficulties and limits of neuro-symbolic AI. In this paper, Artificial Intelligence/Knowledge Representation methods are used for the digital modeling of cultural heritage elements. Accordingly, the new concept of digital cultural heritage twin is presented as composed of a physical component and an immaterial component of the cultural entity. The former concerns the physical aspects, i.e. style, name of the artist, execution time, dimension, etc. The latter represents the emotional and intangible aspects transmitted by the entity, i.e. emotions, thoughts, opinions. In order to digitally model the physical and immaterial components of the twin, the Narrative Knowledge Representation Language has been formally introduced and described. It is particularly suitable for representing the immaterial aspects of the cultural entity, as it is capable of modeling in a simple but rigorous and efficient way complex situations and events, behaviours, attitudes, etc. As an experiment, NKRL has been adopted for representing some of the most relevant intangible items of the visual narrative underlying the hidden painting that lies beneath the Mona Lisa (La Gioconda) image painted by Leonardo Da Vinci on the same poplar panel. Real-time application of the resulting knowledge base opens up novel possibilities for the development of virtual objects, chatbots and expert systems, as well as the definition of semantic search platforms related to cultural heritage. This paper presents a systematic review to identify research combining artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms with Open source intelligence (OSINT) applications and practices. Currently, there is a lack of compilation of these approaches in the research domain and similar systematic reviews do not include research that post dates the year 2019. This systematic review attempts to fill this gap by identifying recent research. The review used the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses and identified 163 research articles focusing on OSINT applications leveraging AI algorithms. This systematic review outlines several research questions concerning meta-analysis of the included research and seeks to identify research limitations and future directions in this area. The review identifies that research gaps exist in the following areas: Incorporation of pre-existing OSINT tools with AI, the creation of AI-based OSINT models that apply to penetration testing, underutilisation of alternate data sources and the incorporation of dissemination functionality. The review additionally identifies future research directions in AI-based OSINT research in the following areas: Multi-lingual support, incorporation of additional data sources, improved model robustness against data poisoning, integration with live applications, real-world use, the addition of alert generation for dissemination purposes and incorporation of algorithms for use in planning. We aim to investigate how closely neural networks (NNs) mimic human thinking. As a step in this direction, we study the behavior of artificial neuron(s) that fire most when the input data score high on some specific emergent concepts. In this paper, we focus on music, where the emergent concepts are those of rhythm, pitch and melody as commonly used by humans. As a black box to pry open, we focus on Google’s MusicVAE, a pre-trained NN that handles music tracks by encoding them in terms of 512 latent variables. We show that several hundreds of these latent variables are “irrelevant” in the sense that can be set to zero with minimal impact on the reconstruction accuracy. The remaining few dozens of latent variables can be sorted by order of relevance by comparing their variance. We show that the first few most relevant variables, and only those, correlate highly with dozens of human-defined measures that describe rhythm and pitch in music pieces, thereby efficiently encapsulating many of these human-understandable concepts in a few nonlinear variables. This paper aims to explore the application of artificial intelligence in the petroleum industry, with a specific focus on oil well production forecasting. The study utilizes the Zananor field as a case study, systematically organizing raw data, categorizing different well instances and production stages in detail, and normalizing the data. An individual long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network model is constructed with monthly oil production data as input to predict the monthly oil production of the experimental oilfield. Furthermore, a multivariate LSTM neural network model is introduced, incorporating different production data as input sets to enhance the accuracy of monthly oil production predictions. A comparative analysis is conducted with particle swarm optimization optimized recurrent neural network results. Finally, gray relational analysis and principal component analysis methods are compared in feature selection. Experimental results demonstrate that the LSTM model is more suitable for the study area, and the multivariate model outperforms the univariate model in terms of prediction accuracy, especially for monthly oil production. Additionally, gray relational analysis exhibits higher accuracy and greater applicability in feature selection compared to principal component analysis. The Optimal Multivariate Mixture Problem (OMMP) consists of finding an optimal mixture which, starting from a set of elements (items) described by a set of variables (features), is as close as possible to an ideal solution. This problem has numerous applications spanning various fields, including food science, agriculture, chemistry, materials science, medicine, and pharmaceuticals. The OMMP is a class of optimization problems that can be addressed using traditional Operations Research (OR) approaches. However, it can also be effectively tackled using meta-heuristic techniques within Artificial Intelligence (AI). This paper aims to present an Artificial Intelligence perspective. It proposes a Genetic Algorithm (GA) for Optimal Multivariate Mixture (GA-OMM), a novel improved version of a GA whose modified genetic operators prove to improve the exploration efficiency. Here, the algorithm is described in its general framework, and a test case 8-items 5-features is conducted to evaluate efficiency by exploring various combinations of hyperparameters. Test cases are also set up for the previous version, as well as a linear programming (LP) approach. The data experiments indicate that the proposed GA is efficient, converges towards the global optimum, consistently outperforms its predecessor, and delivers highly competitive results.
