Introduction: This study presents a global research scenario in the broad domain of osteoarthritis (OA) research, using quantitative and qualitative publication and citation indicators. Methods: The study is based on 45,368 global publications, sourced from the Scopus bibliographical database, covering three decades (1994–2023). We studied the performance of the top 12 developed and top 12 developing countries. The key countries, organizations and authors at national and international levels were identified. The broad subject areas and key journals contributing to global OA research were delineated, besides identifying the broad characteristics of highly cited papers in the field. Results: The United States and China were the most productive countries, while the Netherlands and Canada made the largest citation impact. Harvard Medical School and the University of Sydney made the most contribution, while Boston University and Pfizer Inc., USA registered the highest citation impact. Hunter DJ and Guermazi A were the most productive authors, while Lohmander LS, and Hochberg MC registered the highest citation impact. Osteoarthritis and Cartilage (n = 4879) and Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases (n = 786) published the maximum papers, while Arthritis and Rheumatism and Nature Reviews Rheumatology registered the largest citation impact. The highly cited papers with 100 or more citations constituted 6.25% of the total publications. Conclusions: There has been a systematic growth of publications on OA. The research on OA was mainly done in developed countries, with the maximum publications coming from the United States of America, China and Canada. Previous studies have demonstrated that psychological needs frustration strongly influences adolescent depression. However, this influence's underlying mechanisms remain unknown, and related protective factors have not been identified. Based on an integration of basic psychological needs theory, the cognitive vulnerability model of depression, and findings regarding the link between psychological suzhi (a Chinese cultural construct that includes a hierarchical and integrated set of positive psychological qualities) and mental health, we assessed a structural equation model examining the mediating role of self-esteem and moderating role of psychological suzhi in the relationship between psychological needs frustration and depression. Participants were 1552 Chinese adolescents (Mage = 12.30, SD = 0.54, 49.10% male) who effectively completed paper-based questionnaires. The results indicated that psychological needs frustration significantly and positively predicted adolescent depression. Furthermore, the relationship between psychological needs frustration and depression was significantly mediated by self-esteem and significantly moderated by psychological suzhi; specifically, psychological suzhi buffered the association between psychological needs frustration and adolescents' depression. Additionally, we provide further evidence for the relationship between psychological needs frustration and depression, revealing the relevant underlying mechanisms and protective factors; these findings have practical relevance in the prevention and treatment of Chinese adolescents' depression. Background: Type 2 diabetes exposes the body to a state of high blood sugar for a long time and causes varying degrees of hardening of the arteries, making it more prone to cardiovascular emergencies. Objective: The aim of the study was to explore the risk factors of early arterial stiffness in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 316 T2DM patients without macroangiopathy in The First Hospital of Qinhuangdao. Early arterial stiffness was evaluated by brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV). Results: Ninety patients (28.5%) had baPWV≥1800cm/s. baPWV showed positive correlation with systolic blood pressure (r=0.456, p<0.001), diastolic blood pressure (r=0.133, p=0.018), urine albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) (r=0.232, p<0.001), neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) (r=0.185, p=0.001), and visceral fat area (r=0.139, p=0.014). In multiple linear regression analysis, systolic blood pressure (β=6.240, p<0.001), UACR (β=3.805, p=0.019), NLR (β=43.722, p=0.013), and visceral fat area (β=0.778, p=0.030) were significant independent predictors for baPWV. Conclusion: The decline of arterial elasticity was common in T2DM patients without macroangiopathy. Elevated blood pressure, microangiopathy, chronic inflammation, and visceral fat accumulation were the risk factors of early arterial stiffness in patients with T2DM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: This study aimed to identify the 100 most-cited and 100 most-mentioned coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)–related radiological articles and compare their characteristics. Materials and methods: We searched the Web of Science and Altmetric.com using the search terms "COVID," "COVID-19," "Coronavirus," "SARS-CoV-2," "nCoV," and "pandemic" to identify the most-cited and most-mentioned COVID-19-related articles. We identified the top 100 most-cited and 100 most-mentioned articles in the field of radiology, regardless of their publication journal. We extracted the information from the listed articles and compared the characteristics between the most-cited and most-mentioned. Results: Thirty (30%) articles were featured in the lists of the most-cited and most-mentioned articles. The comparison of the 100 most-cited and most-mentioned articles on each list showed that the most frequently cited articles were published in November 2020 and before (p <.001), originated from China (p <.001), covered the topic of diagnosis of COVID-19 (p <.001), and were related to the subspecialty of pulmonary imaging (p <.001); the most frequently mentioned articles were published in December 2020 and after (p <.001), originated from the USA (p <.001), covered the topic of diagnosis of sequelae of COVID-19 (p =.013) and post-vaccination complications (p <.001), and were related to the subspecialties of cardiac imaging (p <.001) and neuroradiology (p <.013). Conclusion: Significant differences were observed in publication date, country of origin, topic, and subspecialty of scientific knowledge related to COVID-19 in the field of radiology, between citation and public dissemination. Clinical relevance statement: This bibliometric analysis compares the 100 most-cited and 100 most-mentioned COVID-19-related radiologic articles, aiming to provide valuable insights into the patterns of knowledge dissemination during the pandemic era. Key Points: • Thirty articles were featured on the lists of the 100 most-cited and 100 most-mentioned COVID-19-related articles. • The 70 unique most-cited articles more frequently originated from China (48.6%), while the unique most-mentioned articles more frequently originated from the USA (51.4%) (p < 0.001). • The 70 unique most-mentioned articles were more frequently related to cardiac imaging (25.7% vs.0%, p < 0.001) and neuroradiology (15.7% vs. 1.4%, p < 0.005) compared to the unique most-mentioned articles.
