Introduction: This consensus paper provides recommendations for oral health professionals on why and how to assess caries activity and progression with special respect to the site of a lesion. Methods: An expert panel was nominated by the executive councils of the European Organization for Caries Research (ORCA) and the European Federation of Conservative Dentistry (EFCD). The steering committee built three working groups that were asked to provide recommendations on (1) caries detection and diagnostic methods, (2) caries activity and progression assessment, and (3) obtain individualized caries diagnoses. The experts of work group 2 phrased and agreed on provisional general and specific recommendations on caries lesion activity and progression, based on a review of the current literature. These recommendations were then discussed and refined in a consensus workshop followed by an anonymous Delphi survey to determine the agreement on each recommendation. Results: The expert panel agreed on general (n = 7) and specific recommendations (n = 6). The specific recommendations cover coronal caries on pits and fissures, smooth surfaces, proximal surfaces, as well as root caries and secondary caries/caries adjacent to restorations and sealants. 3/13 recommendations yielded perfect agreement. Conclusion: The most suitable method for lesion activity assessment is the visual-tactile method. No single clinical characteristic is indicative of lesion activity; instead, lesion activity assessment is based on assessing and weighing several clinical signs. The recall intervals for visual and radiographic examination need to be adjusted to the presence of active caries lesions and recent caries progression rates. Xylanases are used in several industrial applications, such as feed additives, the bleaching of pulp and paper, and the production of bread, food, and drinks. Xylanases are required to remain active after heat treatment at 80–90 °C for 30 s to several minutes due to the conditions of feed pelleting. Also, xylanases need to be active at 60–70 °C for several hours while bleaching of pulp and paper or manufacturing of bread, food, and drinks is performed. Xylanases of the glycoside hydrolase family GH10 are good candidates for application in such processes because of their high thermostability and, in particular, as feed additives because of their insensitivity to protein inhibitors in cereal feeds. In the study, the thermostability of GH10 xylanase E from Penicillium canescens was improved to reach a half-inactivation period of 2 min at 80 °C compared to 21 s for the wild-type enzyme (WT). Enzymatic activity was increased by 22–48 % at 40–70 °C, which improved the action of the enzyme as a feed additive in the gastric system of animals and during bleaching of pulp and paper. Molecular dynamics simulations demonstrated lower flexibility of the tertiary structure of the engineered enzyme at elevated temperatures compared to WT. The residues W113, Q116, W313, and W321 in the (−1) and (−2) subsites for the substrate binding were less flexible. In the simulations, the engineered enzyme had a comparable content of α-helixes, 3 10 -helixes, β-sheets, and β-bridges as WT, but a lower content of coils and a higher content of β-turns. In this paper, I will focus on some of the situations observed during a pilot project in which opportunities for language and learning occurred or could occur, and either were--or were not-used by the pupils. Based on an ecological perspective whereby language and learning are interrelated, this paper assumes that language is learned when used, and that the engagement of the learner in semiotically meaningful activities create possibilities for language use and language learning. The starting point for this paper is therefore hypothetical, in that, based on the observed examples, the paper examines the language and learning potential that the activities at the outdoor school have to offer pupils. How do you explore possibilities for language use and language learning? How do you discover correlations between possibilities for active engagement in meaningful activities and possibilities for language and learning? How can you tell if children are learning--and whether they are learning language--in the outdoor school? Many such theoretical and methodological questions appeared during the pilot project. This paper offers insight into a researcher's reflections on the research into 'opportunities for language use and language learning.' What happens when a researcher is allowed to participate in outdoor-school activities on an equal footing with other participants? This paper attempts to answer these questions. Edible bird's nest (EBN) is made from the saliva of swiftlets, and has been consumed in China for more than 600 years. In recent years, as influenza virus has continued to cause serious damage to human health, the anti-influenza virus effect of EBN has become a research hotspot. In this paper, the antiviral effect of EBN is comprehensively reviewed. The types and components of influenza viruses are first introduced, and the main process of influenza virus infection is briefly summarised. The active components and related mechanisms of EBN are then described, and its anti-influenza virus activity is discussed. The components of EBN mainly responsible for its antiviral activity are sialic acid and protein; these exert antiviral effects by inhibiting virus adsorption and binding to host cells, blocking the release of virus on the surfaces of cell membranes, and reducing virus replication and transport in host cells. Think-pair and share papers focus on the tests administered to different levels of the students on varied activities. With the help of the results, analysis was shown in the form of a discussion. The paper is based on task-based learning which contributes to collaborative and cooperative learning that do take place in the classroom scenario. This paper contributes to the social theoretical foundations of a sociology of media and communication by making use of the cultural–historical school in psychology. Such perspective gains relevance in digital capitalism and the blurring of production and Internet usage. The paper first revisits Habermas's influential notion of communicative action and agency. Second, it uses activity theory as an alternative, more promising way of theorising because it links communication closer to work. A model of communicative action is introduced and a conceptual link between media and human tool use is established. Third, the paper elaborates on the notion of activity in the digital world and posits that digitalisation can be understood as a 'machinisation' of mental and communicative-coordinative work. The developed perspective, the paper concludes, allows critical media and communication sociology to operate with meaningful concepts of communicative expropriation, exploitation and alienation. Background: The condition and correlation of fatigue, sleep and physical activity in postoperative patients with pituitary adenomas remain unclear. This survey aimed to evaluate the current status and influencing factors of fatigue, sleep and physical activity in postoperative patients with pituitary adenomas. Methods: Patients undergoing pituitary adenoma resection in two tertiary hospitals from November 2019 to November 2021 were included. The general data questionnaire, Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory (MFI‐20), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and international physical activity questionnaire were used for data analysis. Results: In total, 184 patients with pituitary adenomas were included. The postoperative patients with pituitary adenomas had a high level of fatigue. In total, 34 (18.5%) patients had low level of physical activity, 76(41.3%) patients had medium level of physical activity and 74 (40.2%) had high level of physical activity. Postoperative time, PSQI, physical activity level and gender were the influencing factors of fatigue in patients with pituitary adenomas (all P < 0.05). Conclusions: Postoperative patients with pituitary adenomas have a higher level of fatigue, and it is related to reduced sleep quality and activity. Relevant nursing measures should be taken according to the influencing factors of fatigue to reduce the fatigue of postoperative patients with pituitary adenomas. The postoperative nursing care of patients is very important to the quality of life in patients with pituitary adenomas.Fatigue, sleep and physical activity in postoperative patients with pituitary adenomas remain unclear. There is a high level of fatigue in patients with pituitary adenomas within 1 year after operation.The degree of fatigue is negatively correlated with the course of disease and the level of physical activity. This paper presents a mathematical theory of behavioral swarms, where the state of interacting entities, which are called active particles, includes in addition to position and velocity, an internal variable, called activity, which has the ability to interact with mechanical variables thus affecting the interaction rules. In turn, the mechanical variables can modify the dynamics of activity variable. This approach is useful for describing the dynamics of living systems with a finite number of interacting entities. This paper provides a general conceptual framework that extends the pioneering work [N. Bellomo, S.-Y. Ha and N. In recent years, several strategies have been developed for the treatment of transthyretin-related amyloidosis, whose complex clinical manifestations involve cardiomyopathy and polyneuropathy. In view of this, transthyretin stabilizers represent a major cornerstone in treatment thanks to the introduction of tafamidis into therapy and the entry of acoramidis into clinical trials. However, the clinical treatment of transthyretin-related amyloidosis still presents several challenges, urging the development of new and improved therapeutics. Bearing this in mind, in this paper, the most promising among the recently published transthyretin stabilizers were reviewed. Their activity was described to provide some insights into their clinical potential, and crystallographic data were provided to explain their modes of action. Finally, structure–activity relationship studies were performed to give some guidance to future researchers aiming to synthesize new transthyretin stabilizers. Groundwater-exposed liquid clay soil (CL) makes foundations unstable. This study used recycled rice husk ash and treated clay soil exposed to groundwater with low-cost, environmentally friendly materials. This paper presents a recent prediction of three equations that link the plastic index to soil strength, cohesion, and the bearing capacity of a foundation. This prediction takes into account the soil' characteristics before and after treatment, as well as the cumulative load until failure. It creates four models before and after treatment, as well as a different time period after treatment, to study the situation. This is achieved by mixing the best-added ratios in depth equal to the foundation width. The limitations of Atterberg, and the unconfined compressive strength were tested using three additives: cement alone, rice husk ash alone, and rice husk ash plus 2% cement. The percentages were 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10% of the soil weight. It was noted that soil activity dropped from 0.98 to 0.31, 0.32, and 0.42 for cement 8%, rice husk ash 8% plus 2% cement, and 8% RHA alone. The foundation bearing capacity increased from 49 at 1 day to 115, 275, and 460 Kpa for 7, 14, and 28 days, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The hydrogenotrophic pathway for methane production in anaerobic reactors is capturing the attention of the academic community. For this reason, the factors involved in the specific hydrogenotrophic methanogenic activity (SHMA) test must be well known to perform an accurate characterization of biosludge. Specifically, the resistance to mass transfer between the gas and liquid phases can become the primary factor influencing the global rate, thus yielding misleading results. This paper presents a comprehensive model that aims to understand the dynamics of the variables and evaluate the limitations associated with the assay conditions. Experimental determinations of SHMA and mass transfer coefficient (kLa) are performed to support the model findings. The mass transfer of gaseous substrates and the biological reactions, occurring within a pseudohomogeneous liquid phase, are sequential processes. If the resistance to mass transfer is significant relative to the reaction rate, it adversely affects the overall rate and consequently leads to an inaccurate determination of the activity. Therefore, careful consideration should be given to the shaking conditions, flask geometry, and biomass concentration during the test to prevent the mass transfer resistance from determining the overall rate. Background: The primary aim of this study was to compare subjective parent- and self-reports of cognitive fatigue across daily activities (i.e. school and weekend days) between children with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and typically developing (TD) children who were 8–14 years old. Method: The primary aim was addressed through the completion of an online set of surveys. Cognitive fatigue was assessed after two daily activities (i.e. school vs weekend day) through parent and child report using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory Multidimensional Fatigue Scale. Survey participants (N = 30) were 8–14 years old and included 15 children with TBI and 15 TD children. Participants with TBI were, on average, 4.69 years old at the time of their injury and 5.37 years post-injury at the time of study participation. Results: Participants in the TBI group were self- and parent-rated to have significantly greater levels of cognitive fatigue compared to TD participants. Yet, both types of days evoked similar levels of cognitive fatigue for both groups. Conclusion: The preliminary findings of this study show the chronic nature of cognitive fatigue after childhood TBI and can be used to improve supports, services, and outcomes for individuals with childhood TBI. Cognitive fatigue occurs frequently after brain injury and impacts functioning, but little is known about cognitive fatigue for children with brain injury. This paper found that children with brain injury had greater cognitive fatigue after school and weekend days than their peers without brain injury but that children with TBI had similar levels of fatigue after school compared to after a weekend. For many, striving to attain first place in an athletic competition is explicable. Less explicable is striving to attain first place in a virtue (aretē) competition. Yet this latter dynamic appears in Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. There is 4.3's magnanimity, the crown of the virtues, which seemingly manifests itself in outdoing one's peers in virtue. Such one-upmanship also seems operant with 9.8's praiseworthy self-lover, who seeks to get as much of the fine (to kalon) as possible for herself. Contrary to many interpreters, this paper argues that praiseworthy self-love and magnanimity involve one-upmanship. The relevant exemplars are not simply striving to be the best that they can be in respect to virtue (in virtuous activity), but to be better than others. The paper argues that Aristotle's axiology, which sets activity (energeia) above state (hexis) and potentiality (dunamis), engenders one-upmanship. For only the level of activity substantially differentiates individuals, settling for inferiority is obviously objectionable, and equal achievement for Aristotle is not static but involves matching and surpassing the achievements of others. The paper concludes that modern discomfort with these dynamics is due to an axiology Nietzsche attributes to Christianity, one that bases human value fundamentally on non-differentiating potentiality. Nonbank financial companies, also known as financial companies, are financial institutions that offer various financial services, such as: approving loans to individuals and legal entities, issuing and administering credit cards, factoring and issuing guarantees, as well as advising on various financial and leasing activities. Unlike banks, for the establishment of a financial company, a simpler procedure is foreseen, even a license from the National Bank is not required, but only permission from the Ministry of Finance. The establishment, operation and supervision of financial companies in the country is governed by the Law on Financial Companies. As institutions that are in their infancy in the country and given the still insignificant impact on the financial sector, it is expected that the legislator will often make changes and additions to the legal regulations for financial companies. The purpose of these changes in the legislation of financial companies is to provide an operating environment for them between the protection of the users of services from financial companies and the increase of reliability towards these companies. In this paper, the author, in addition to analyzing the legislative platform and the recent changes in this platform, but through the statistical method provides an overview of the activity of financial companies in the Republic of North Macedonia. Clay swell potential can be classified based on the value of activity and it is defined as the ratio of plasticity index to clay content as a percentage. This paper outlines the investigation into how activity correlates with other key properties of clayey soils. Specifically, four approaches were evaluated for predicting activity using: (a) liquid limit (LL), specific surface area (SSA), cation exchange capacity (CEC) and clay content; (b) LL, SSA and CEC; (c) LL; and (d) SSA and CEC. For this purpose, a database of 104 samples was collected from which 35 machine learning algorithms were trained. Gradient Boosting Trees showed the highest prediction accuracy in the four approaches and, to improve its prediction performance, a Bayesian Optimization was applied to tune theirs hyperparameters, resulting in the final models. The performance of the developed models was evaluated, showing prominent results with exceptionally good metrics, except in the approach from SSA and CEC where the trained algorithm was not capable of predicting activity with confidence (R2=0.46). This algorithm can predict activity using only LL with high accuracy (R2=0.94), and when combined with SSA and CEC, the precision is further enhanced (R2=0.96). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The notion of force is at the heart of Leibniz's metaphysics. One of his central theses is that powers are to be reconceived as forces. Connectedly, he maintains that force is essential to the very account of substance. The paper contends that these claims have not been well understood due to an inadequate understanding of the notion of force itself. Against a common reading, I argue that Leibnizian force is not fundamentally dispositional, but an activity. Taking seriously this idea means reconsidering not only the nature and function of powers, but also the basic character of Leibniz's metaphysics—including his view of substances as soul-like and as causally independent. Purpose: An increase in company value reflects the achievement of better overall financial performance, which is the hope of company owners and attractive to investors. This research aims to analyze the influence of profitability, liquidity and activity on company value with capital structure as an intervening variable in metal and mineral sub-sector manufacturing companies, which are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2018 to 2023. Design/methodology/approach: This research uses a quantitative approach for 7 companies from 20 manufacturing companies in the metal and mineral sub-sector, which are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The data was processed using the SEM-PLS technique. The research data is secondary data, the company's financial reports on the official website www.idx.co.id and the company website. The variables used are Profitability (X1), Liquidity (X2), Activity (X3), Capital Structure (Z) and Company Value (Y). Findings: The research results show that profitability directly has a positive and significant influence on company value, liquidity is directly positive and not significant on company value. The activity ratio directly has a negative and insignificant effect on company value. Profitability has a negative and insignificant effect on capital structure. Liquidity has a negative and significant effect on capital structure. Activity Ratios have a positive and significant effect on capital structure. Capital structure has a positive but not significant influence on company value. Profitability and liquidity on company value through capital structure are negative and insignificant. The activity ratio's effect on firm value through capital structure is positive and not significant. The findings of this research indicate the importance of profitability in a strategy to increase company value with liquidity, activity and capital structure as supporting factors that must be managed carefully and carefully. Research limitations/implications: This research is limited to metal and mineral sub-sector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange for the period 2018 to 2023. For generalization so that further research can be carried out on other sub-sector manufacturing companies. Practical implications: The results of this research can be used as a reference for increasing company value as a reflection of achieving better overall financial performance in manufacturing companies in the metal and mineral sub-sector.. Originality/value: The research results explain that among the variables are profitability, liquidity, activity ratio and capital structure can be optimally applied to increase company value in the metal and mineral industry.. Rapid smartphone replacement contributes significantly to electronic waste issues. This paper investigates determinants of premature smartphone obsolescence amongst young adults and proposes psychology-based solutions to reduce associated sustainability impacts. Activity Theory maps replacement journeys to focus interventions on problem recognition. Grounded in contemporary Installation Theory, obsolescence drivers are analysed across physical affordances, embodied competencies and social regulations. Smartphone replacement journeys are mapped through Activity Theory to focus on problem recognition as an intervention point. Expert interviews and a user survey supplement literature in investigating obsolescence factors. Solutions are then structured along Installation Theory dimensions for a systemic approach targeting underlying barriers. Solutions address the three layers of behavioural determination. Smartphone modularity addresses physical issues, like repairability and upgrade. Consumer education campaigns improve competencies and perceptions, hereby fostering longer use. A “Slow Smartphone Movement” is proposed, leveraging social strategies, including pledges and online communities, to redefine cultural obsolescence narratives and address the positional aspects of having the latest generation smartphone. Together these multilayered interventions provide actionable pathways to prolonging lifespan by fundamentally reshaping psychological ownership patterns underlying premature smartphone disposal. Rather than isolated initiatives, these synergistic solutions provide specific, evidence-based pathways to fundamentally transforming entrenched obsolescence mindsets and behaviours amongst younger demographics. The paper concludes by outlining study limitations and stating that future research must empirically evaluate the proposed solutions.The current paper investigates the determinants and consequences of premature smartphone obsolescence amongst young adults and proposes psychology-based solutions to reduce its detrimental environmental and societal impact. Activity Theory was used to define the research scope, ultimately focusing on the first stage in the buyer behaviour model, reflecting a prototypical customer journey along five consecutive decision stages. Problem recognition, essentially the perceived difference between the current and desired state of being, was subsequently analysed through the three interrelated layers of Installation Theory, physical affordances, embodied competencies, and social regulations. Eventually, potential solutions, grounded in academic literature, expert interviews, and a consumer survey, were organised along the three dimensions of installation theory, creating a holistic and effective strategy for tackling smartphone obsolescence. Smartphone modularity represents a promising starting point to address the problems associated with physical affordances, such as broken parts, worn batteries, and planned obsolescence more generally.Additionally, extensive consumer education coupled with awareness campaigns highlighting the alternatives to purchasing new products and awareness campaigns highlighting the alternatives to purchasing new products could tackle issues associated with embodied competencies. Lastly, social regulations manifested partly in the universal need for belonging and social inclusion, represent the last driver of smartphone obsolescence. Virtual communities and reward schemes could further foster lasting normative change, eventually helping redefine the detrimental consumerism culture.

Coulson et al. [1] proposed methodology for the estimation of the P and S terms used in glass interpretation when assessing the value of the findings given activity level propositions. These terms arise in a model proposed by Evett [2], Evett and Buckleton [3], and are based on survey data. Specifically they proposed a model for estimating P k , k = 0, 1, 2, ... and S n , n = 1, 2, where P k is the probability of finding k distinct sources (or groups) of glass on a person of interest (POI), and S n is the probability that the k th source consists of n fragments. In this article we make a number of extensions to the work of Coulson et al. [1]. Firstly we derive an estimate of the uncertainty in the parameter of the Coulson et al. model, and show how this may be used—for example, to compute an estimate of how the probabilities may vary or how to compare estimates resulting from different surveys. Secondly, we extend the model by allowing a more sensible modelling of the "excess" zeros (in the case of the P terms) and excess ones (in the case of the S terms). The methodology used to make these extensions relies on purely frequentist theory of estimation in keeping with the original work. A Bayesian approach to estimation will be the subject of future work. Additionally, we demonstrate the use of an R (R Core Team, [4]) package, called fitPS (Curran, [5]) which makes the methodology described in this article easy to implement in practice. • An R package that implements the methodology described by Coulson et al. Background: The number of women entering pregnancy with overweight or obesity is increasing. This can increase the risk for excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) which is associated with health complications for mother and baby. There are limited evidence-based interventions within antenatal care settings to encourage healthy eating and physical activity behaviours and support women with managing GWG. Methods: A previous habit-based intervention 'Ten Top Tips for a Healthy Weight' (10TT) was adapted and made suitable for pregnancy in line with the Medical Research Council's (MRC) complex intervention development guidelines. It involved three key activities: (1) identifying the evidence base; (2) identifying appropriate theory; and, (3) modelling processes. A core element was integrating lived experience via personal and public involvement (PPI). Results: The original 10TTs were adapted with PPI in line with current advice on nutrition and physical activity in pregnancy. New intervention materials were devised, including a leaflet and a logbook and app for self-monitoring to be delivered alongside a brief 1:1 conversation. Behaviour change techniques (BCTs) included in the new materials were coded using a number of behavioural taxonomies. An E-learning resource was created to help standardise the approach to delivery of the intervention and avoid stigmatising conversations. Conclusion: Following MRC guidance for the development of complex interventions alongside significant PPI allowed for the adaption of 10TT habit-based weight management intervention into the 'Healthy Habits in Pregnancy and Beyond' (HHIPBe) intervention. The feasibility and acceptability of implementing this intervention in the antenatal setting will be explored in a feasibility randomised controlled trial. L-Asparaginase (ASNase) exerts its main anticancer activity by depleting L-Asparagine (Asn). In dogs with lymphomas, ASNase is commonly administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously and incorporated in multiagent protocols. The goal of this study is to assess plasma asparagine depletion and ASNase activity after intravenous administration of ASNase. A secondary goal was to investigate the toxicity and clinical response after intravenous infusion of high-dose ASNase. The study included ten dogs with naïve multicentric lymphoma. All dogs were immunophenotyped, staged, and followed to death. ASNase was administered intravenously at a dose of 3000 IU/kg on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule. ASNase activity and Asn concentration were assessed on days 1, 3, and 5, before and after infusion, and on day 21. Clinical response and toxicity were assessed on weeks 2, 6, and 10, and then every 4 weeks until relapse. Plasma ASNase activity was sufficient to induce and maintain Asn depletion after and between each administration. The activity at day 21 was below detection in 8/10 dogs, and Asn was still depleted in 4/10 dogs. The ORR was 60% (respectively 40%CR and 20%PR). The median TTP was 31 days (95% CI 0–70). All dogs underwent rescue treatment with a multiagent protocol (8 CHOP and 2 LOPP). The median TTP after starting a rescue was not reached after 392 days. Mild gastrointestinal toxicity occurred in 30% of dogs, while hematologic toxicity or hypersensitivity reactions did not occur. ASNase activity and depletion of Asn were clinically adequate. Hypertension has always posed a severe threat to people's health. Food-derived angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitory peptides have the potential to both prevent and treat hypertension. In the current investigation, two ACE-inhibitory peptides (SLPQ and PYVRYL) from goat milk were studied for their endothelial effects using EA.hy926 cells. PYVRYL outperformed SLPQ, yet neither impacted cell survival below 200 μg/mL. Investigation of SLPQ's impact on EA.hy926 cell expression revealed 114 differentially expressed genes, with 65 downregulated and 49 upregulated. The genes were enriched in cytokine interactions, coagulation cascades, Hippo signaling, and ECM–receptor interaction. Decreased c-x-c motif chemokine ligand 2 (CXCL2), integrin subunit beta 2 (ITGB2), and fbj murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homologue (FOS) expression and increased secreted phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1) expression may protect endothelial cells from inflammation. Our findings suggest that beyond ACE inhibition, SLPQ aids blood pressure control by influencing endothelial function, paving the way for its use as an antihypertensive food ingredient. Purpose: The goal of this study was to examine whether daily increased morning light exposure would maintain or improve sleep and the circadian pattern of relatively more activity in the day and less during the night in women undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. Patients and Methods: Participants were 39 women with newly diagnosed breast cancer, randomized to either 30-mins of daily morning bright white light (BWL) or dim red light (DRL). Sleep/wake was measured objectively for 72-h with wrist actigraphy and subjectively with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) prior to and during chemotherapy cycles 1 and 4. The study was registered with the National Institutes of Health ClinicalTrials.gov (Clinical Trials number: NCT00478257). Results: Results from actigraphy suggested that compared to the DRL group, women in the BWL group had longer night-time sleep, fewer sleep disturbances during the night, and had fewer and shorter daytime naps at the end of cycle 4 of chemotherapy as well as exhibiting less activity at night and more activity during the day by the end of cycle 4. Results from PSQI indicated that components of sleep quality improved but daytime dysfunction deteriorated during cycle 4 treatment in the BWL group; meanwhile the DRL group used more sleep medications in the treatment weeks which might have led to the improved sleep quality during the recovery weeks of both cycles. Conclusion: These results suggest that bright white light therapy administered every morning on awakening may protect women undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer from nighttime sleep and daytime wake disruption. The prevalence of human Demodex mites has surged in recent years, prompting significant concern among both patients and the medical community. This study aimed to investigate the survival duration and morphological alterations of Demodex folliculorum under diverse temperature conditions and in various culture media. We employed the eyelash sampling technique to procure the mites. The collected specimens were then subjected to culture at two distinct temperature ranges (16–22 °C and 4 °C) across a spectrum of media, including 30% tea tree oil (TTO), phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), pure water, 0.9% physiological saline, 5 µg/ml propidium iodide (PI), liquid paraffin, glycerol, and a blank culture medium. Post-administration, the mites’ activity and morphological changes were meticulously documented. Our findings indicate that the survival span of Demodex mites within the same medium was notably extended at 4 °C compared to room temperature. Specifically, under 4 °C, the use of liquid paraffin as a culture medium yielded the longest survival time of 12 days, surpassing all other conditions. Remarkably, the morphological integrity of the mites in this group remained largely unaltered. These results suggest that 4 °C is the optimal temperature for the in vitro cultivation of Demodex mites, offering insights into the environmental preferences of these organisms and potentially informing future therapeutic strategies. This reserach examines factors influencing the profitability of Fintech lending companies in Indonesia. A purposive sampling method was employed to select 45 companies annually. The data for this research are cross-sectional, comprising the years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. The methods in this research are Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and multiple linear regression. Findings reveal that current ratio, cash ratio, working capital turnover, debt to assets ratio, short-term debt ratio, equity multiplier, total assets turnover, fixed assets turnover, tangible assets ratio, and effective tax rate significant determinants of profitability for Fintech lending companies in Indonesia. In the present study, a total of 8 plant extracts was used for their antibacterial activity against bacteria, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus by using agar well diffusion method. Mangifera ethanolic extract showed best results as inhibitory activity against both bacteria, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus with diameter of zone of inhibition (ZOI) 41mm and 22mm, respectively. Zingiber ethanolic extract showed inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus with zone of inhibition 10 mm and 12mm. Punica ethanolic extract exhibited 12mm and 15mm zone of inhibition against E. coli and S. aureus. Psidium ethanolic extract showed 20mm ZOI against S. aureus. Azadirachta, Murraya and Curcuma ethanolic extract displayed inhibitory activity against S. aureus with 15 mm zone of inhibition. Azadirachta ethanolic extract showed activity against E. coli (13mm). Cuminum ethanlic extractshowed 15mm ZOI against E.coli. A total of 8 antibiotics were used against E. coli and S. aureus in antibiotic susceptibility pattern of test culture. Out of 8 antibiotics, Gentamycin showed best actions against both test bacteria, E. coli (ZOI: 30mm) and S. aureus (31mm). Chloramphenicol showed 20mm and 30mm against test bacteria, E. coli and S. aureus, respectively. E. coli and S. aureus showed resistant against 4 antibiotics namely Ampicilin, Cephalothin, Clindamysin, Oxacillin. Mangifera ethanolic extract showed the MIC of 5% (w/v) against E. coli and 0.62% (w/v) against S. aureus. The Mangifera ethanolic extract revealed the presence of flavonoids, tannins and saponinsas phytochemical constituents. Alkaloids and phenols were found to be absent. Background: The online BeUpstanding™ program is an eight-week workplace-delivered intervention for desk-based workers to raise awareness of the benefits of sitting less and moving more and build a supportive culture for change. A workplace representative (the "champion") delivers the program, which includes a workshop where teams collectively choose their sit less/move more strategies. A toolkit provides the champion with a step-by-step guide and associated resources to support program uptake, delivery, and evaluation. Here we report on the main findings from the Australian national implementation trial of BeUpstanding. Methods: Recruitment (12/06/2019 to 30/09/2021) was supported by five policy and practice partners, with desk-based work teams from across Australia targeted. Effectiveness was measured via a single arm, repeated-measures trial. Data were collected via online surveys, toolkit analytics, and telephone calls with champions. The RE-AIM framework guided evaluation, with adoption/reach (number and characteristics); effectiveness (primary: self-reported workplace sitting time); implementation (completion of core components; costs); and, maintenance intentions reported here. Linear mixed models, correcting for cluster, were used for effectiveness, with reach, adoption, implementation, and maintenance outcomes described. Results: Of the 1640 website users who signed-up to BeUpstanding during the recruitment period, 233 were eligible, 198 (85%) provided preliminary consent, and 118 (50.6%) champions consented and started the trial, with 94% (n = 111 champions) completing. Trial participation was from across Australia and across industries, and reached 2,761 staff, with 2,248 participating in the staff survey(s): 65% female; 64% university educated; 17% from a non-English speaking background. The program effectively changed workplace sitting (-38.5 [95%CI -46.0 to -28.7] minutes/8-hour workday) and all outcomes targeted by BeUpstanding (behaviours and culture), with small-to-moderate statistically-significant effects observed. All participating teams (n = 94) completed at least 5/7 core steps; 72.4% completed all seven. Most champions spent $0 (72%) or >$0-$5 (10%) per team member; most (67/70 96%) intended to continue or repeat the program. Conclusions: BeUpstanding can be adopted and successfully implemented by a range of workplaces, reach a diversity of staff, and be effective at creating a supportive culture for teams of desk-based workers to sit less and move more. Accelerated by technological advancements, while online platforms equipped with recommendation algorithms offer convenience to obtain information, it also brought algorithm bias, shaping the norms and behaviors of their users. The filter bubble, conceived as a negative consequence of algorithm bias, means the reduction of the diversity of users' information consumption, garnering extensive attention. Previous research on filter bubbles typically used users' self-reported or behavioral data independently. However, existing studies have disputed whether filter bubbles exist on the platform, possibly owing to variations in measurement methods. In our study, we took content category diversity to measure the filter bubbles and innovatively used a combination of participants' self-reported and website behavioral data, examining filter bubbles on a single online video platform (Bilibili). We conducted a questionnaire survey among 337 college students and collected 3,22,324 browsing records with their informed authorization, constituting the dataset for research analysis. The existence of filter bubbles on Bilibli is found, such that diversity will decrease when viewing Game videos increases. Furthermore, we considered the factors that influence filter bubbles from the perspective of demographics and user behavior. In demographics, female and non-member users are more likely to be trapped in filter bubbles. In user behavior, results of feature importance analysis indicate that the diversity of information consumption of heavy users is higher than others, and both activity and fragmentation have an impact on the formation of filter bubbles, but in different directions. Finally, we discuss the reasons for these results and a theoretical explanation that the filter bubbles effect may be lower than we thought for both heavy and normal users on online platforms. The transmembrane nitrate reductase (Nar) is the first enzyme in the dissimilatory alternate anaerobic nitrate respiratory chain in denitrifying bacteria. To date, there has been no real-time method to determine its specific activity embedded in its native membrane; here, we describe such a new method, which is useful with the inside-out membranes of Paracoccus denitrificans and other denitrifying bacteria. This new method takes advantage of the native coupling of the endogenous NADH dehydrogenase or Complex I with the reduction of nitrate by Nar through the quinone pool of the inner membranes of P. denitrificans. This is achieved under previously reached anaerobic conditions. Inner controls confirming the specific Nar activity determined by this new method were made by the total inhibition of the Nar enzyme by sodium azide and cyanide, well-known Nar inhibitors. The estimation of the Michaelis–Menten affinity of Nar for NO3− using this so-called Nar-JJ assay gave a Km of 70.4 μM, similar to previously determined values. This new Nar-JJ assay is a suitable, low-cost, and reproducible method to determine in real-time the endogenous Nar activity not only in P. denitrificans, but in other denitrifying bacteria such as Brucella canis, and potentially in other entero-pathogenic bacteria. Fish domestication progresses through five levels: from the initial acclimatization to captivity (Level 1), to the life cycle completion in captivity (Level 4), and even to the implementation of selective breeding programs (Level 5). Domestication leads to phenotypic changes over generations, sometimes from the very first generation. Behavioral traits are among the first to change. However, in fish, potential behavioral changes during early domestication have been little studied. Therefore, we studied potential behavioral changes among early and advanced levels of domestication in a model species, the zebrafish (Danio rerio), using a mirror test experiment, commonly used to assess traits involved in activity, aggressiveness, and stress in this species. We compared these traits between wild zebrafish in captivity (F0; Level 1), the first generation of their captive-born offspring (F1; Level 4), and three laboratory strains (AB, TU, and WIK; Level 5). Each fish was individually filmed and tracked using an automated procedure for 5 min. Nine behavioral traits and one activity-related trait were characterized for each individual based on the movements and positioning of the fish. We applied a principal component analysis (PCA) and tested the significance of potential differences between groups using an analysis of similarities (ANOSIM). We applied an indicator value analysis (IndVal) to determine which traits were most expressed by each group. We detected differences between groups and across domestication levels. More specifically, we highlighted differentiations between different levels of domestication (e.g. between F1, AB, TU, and WIK) as early as the beginning of the domestication process (i.e. F0 vs. F1), but also within the same level of domestication (i.e. AB vs. TU). Based on PCA and IndVal, (i) F0 and F1 tended to show stronger expression of stress-related traits than the other groups, (ii) F0 was more active than others, and (iii) TU was more aggressive than AB. Our results confirmed that domestication can change fish behavior, even in the first generation born in captivity, although these modifications remain limited. In contrast, we did not observe any general trends correlated with domestication levels, given that AB and TU diverged in their aggressiveness levels, and WIK differed only from F1. This result needs to be generalized to other species but also considered for domestication for aquaculture. If future studies confirm that the changes observed at the beginning of the domestication process remain limited and that there is no consistent evolutionary trend across generations in fish, this would highlight the crucial importance of selecting the right species from the outset of domestication. It would also emphasize the need to design selective breeding programs that shape fish stocks with the most desirable characteristics. To our knowledge, this study is one of the few to examine the behavior of wild zebrafish alongside laboratory strains, offering a unique insight into the early stages of domestication. Helping people with intellectual and visual disabilities engage in activity and mobility is considered crucially important to promote constructive occupation and a basic form of physical exercise (i.e., objectives that are essential for the individuals' wellbeing and in line with their rights). This study assessed two new programs aimed at helping eight participants with intellectual and visual disabilities (four in each program) to independently move through specific indoor destinations, collect and transport objects, and access stimulation events (e.g., music) with the support of technology systems involving a smartphone linked to mini cameras and speakers. The second program was more advanced than the first and (a) required the participants to discriminate the objects used and transport two (rather than one) of them before any stimulation event, and (b) included telephone calls to and stories from preferred communication partners among the stimulation events. Each program was implemented using a single-case research design (i.e., a non-concurrent multiple baseline design across participants). The results showed that both programs were effective in enabling the participants to collect, transport, and put away objects and access stimulation independently during 20-min sessions. Abstract In the process of group recommendation, due to the different preferences of group members, the recommendation results cannot meet the needs of all users. How to maximize the fairness of group recommendation is still a challenge. Therefore, this paper proposes a group recommendation algorithm based on user activity. Firstly, a group discovery algorithm based on item cluster preference was used to mine potential groups. Secondly, considering the dynamic change of activity, a sliding time window is designed to investigate the recent activity of each member in the group at the time of subgroup division, and the group is divided into active subgroup and inactive subgroup. Finally, the group recommendation list was generated by aggregating the subgroup preferences by average consensus. Experimental results on the public dataset show that compared with the AGREE algorithm, the recommendation accuracy and coverage of the proposed algorithm are improved by 2.1% and 2.9%, respectively. By focusing on the preference needs of inactive users, the proposed algorithm effectively improves the recommendation satisfaction and group fairness.

This paper explores the optimal utilization of carbon-fixing steel slag powder to elevate its reactivity. When combining carbon-fixing steel slag powder with aluminum-containing mineral materials, fly ash (FA) emerges as the most suitable complement. Hydration heat data indicate that, compared to cement-based materials doped with FA alone, when the ratio of bacterial mineralized steel slag powder to FA is 1:1 by mass, the Q max is augmented by 19.71 %. The aluminum phase accelerates the transformation of biological calcium carbonate, leading to the formation of more monocarboaluminate beneficial to strength enhancement. When the mass ratio of alumina to calcium carbonate falls within the range of 1.5–4.5, a significant synergistic effect is achieved, resulting in an optimal activity index of approximately 97 %. Notably, at the same carbon sequestration levels, microbial-assisted mineralized of steel slag powder yields superior results compared to direct carbonization, due to its finer calcium carbonate grain size. • The hydration activity of the composite SCM can reach the effect of '1+1>2′. • The ratio of carbon-fixing steel slag powder to fly ash of 1/1 is the best. • When the Al2O3/CaCO3 mass ratio is 1.5–4.5, a strong synergistic effect ensues. • Microbial-assisted mineralized of steel slag powder yields superior results. Context: Introduced predators pose a significant threat to biodiversity. Understanding how predators interact with other threats such as fire is crucial to developing effective conservation strategies. Aims: We investigated interactions between the greater bilby (Macrotis lagotis) and two introduced predators, the European red fox (Vulpes vulpes) and feral cat (Felis catus), in response to fire management in a remote part of the Tanami Desert, Australia. Methods: We used motion-sensor cameras and non-invasive genetic sampling to monitor bilbies and predators. We compared activity profiles to determine the level of temporal overlap among species, and used generalised linear modelling to assess the correlation between activity and average normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI; as a proxy for fire-associated environmental change). Finally, we used spatially explicit capture–recapture modelling to estimate cat and bilby densities before and after fire. Key results: Cat and bilby activity declined following fire, whereas fox activity increased (despite only a small proportion of the study area being burnt). Bilbies and foxes showed the greatest overlap in temporal activity (76%), followed by bilbies and cats (71%) and cats and foxes (68%). Bilbies and cats were more likely to be captured in areas with a lower NDVI, whereas foxes were more likely to be captured in areas with a higher NDVI. Bilby density declined significantly following fire, whereas cat density remained constant through time. Conclusions: Declines in bilby activity and density following fire may be attributed to emigration from the study area and/or increases in fox activity. Post-burn emigration could be due to wide scale destruction of important food resources. However, given much of the study area where bilbies were detected remained unburnt, it is more likely that observed declines are related to increases in fox activity and associated increases in predation pressure. Improved understanding may be gained by experimentally manipulating both fire and predator densities. Implications: Increases in fox activity following fire are likely to have devastating consequences for the local bilby population. It is thus vital that appropriate management activities are put in place to protect bilbies from foxes. This may be achieved through a combination of lethal control and indirect methods. Cats and foxes are a significant threat to bilbies, with their impacts likely to be worsened by fire. We used camera-traps and genetic sampling to investigate whether bilby–predator interactions changed in response to planned fire. We found a high level of overlap in activity among the three species, and a general decline in bilby and cat activity, and an increase in fox activity following fire. Our study indicated that broad-scale fire is likely to have negative consequences for bilby populations, most likely owing to an increase in fox predation pressure. The intensities of the hydrogen Balmer lines of solar-like stars are investigated for stellar chromospheric activity by using the co-source spectral data of the LAMOST Low-Resolution Spectroscopic Survey (LRS) and Medium-Resolution Spectroscopic Survey (MRS). The Balmer H α , H β , H γ , and H δ lines in the LRS data and the H α line in the MRS data are analyzed. The absolute flux indexes, defined as the ratios of the absolute fluxes at the centers of the Balmer lines to the stellar bolometric flux, are employed to indicate the intensity magnitudes of the Balmer lines in response to stellar activity. The H α indexes derived from the LRS data and the MRS data, respectively, are calibrated to be quantitatively consistent with each other. It is found that, as the H α index increases, the H β , H γ , and H δ indexes first present trend of increasing and then decreasing, and finally increase synchronously with the H α index. The distributions of the Balmer line indexes also reveal the three distinct stages of stellar activity (normal stage, intense stage, and extremely intense stage), in which the extremely intense stage is characterized by the synchronous growth of the indexes of the four Balmer lines. The different behaviors of the H β , H γ , and H δ lines from that of the H α line can be interpreted by the different mechanisms by which the line-core intensities are formed, and the three distinct activity stages imply the very different magnetic field environments and physical conditions of solar-like stars. Joint consideration of the ideas of individual niche specialization and animal personalities predicts co-variation in personality expression and realized niche use. Animal personalities are characterized by within-individual consistency linked to consistent among-individual variation in behavior across time and contexts. Individual niche specialization posits that members of local groups should diversify in their foraging phenotypes to alleviate inter-individual competition and ensuing conflicts. Here, we tested the hypothesis that early life experiences shape individual foraging niches and personality expression in the omnivorous plant-inhabiting predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii. To this end, we exposed predatory mite females in their early life phase to one of three diets (pollen, spider mites or thrips) or no food (control) and later evaluated the adult females' mean trait expressions and personalities in exploration, activity and aggressiveness. Personality formation was analyzed by intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). The predators showed personalities in all three behavioral dimensions but personality formation and diet preference were strongly influenced by early-life diet experiences. Personality types in exploration were predictive of fitness, with more exploratory personalities producing more eggs. Thrips experience had the strongest impact across measured traits and thrips-experienced personality types were linked to individual foraging niches. Overall, early-life diet experiences induced greater changes in trait expressions at the individual than population level. Our findings highlight that ephemeral personal experiences early in life are important determinants of fine-scale phenotypic structure and diversity within groups, and demonstrate environmental induction of the link between individualized niche use and personality formation.
