Abstract Background Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common complication that is characterized by acute onset of impaired cognitive function and is associated with an increased mortality, a prolonged duration of hospital stay, and additional healthcare expenditures. The incidence of POD in elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic radical colectomy ranges from 8 to 54%. Xenon has been shown to provide neuroprotection in various neural injury models, but the clinical researches assessing the preventive effect of xenon inhalation on the occurrence of POD obtained controversial findings. This study aims to investigate the effects of a short xenon inhalation on the occurrence of POD in elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic radical colectomy. Methods/design This is a prospective, randomized, controlled trial and 132 patients aged 65–80 years and scheduled for laparoscopic radical colectomy will be enrolled. The participants will be randomly assigned to either the control group or the xenon group (n = 66 in each group). The primary outcome will be the incidence of POD in the first 5 days after surgery. Secondary outcomes will include the subtype, severity, and duration of POD, postoperative pain score, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PQSI), perioperative non-delirium complications, and economic parameters. Additionally, the study will investigate the activation of microglial cells, expression of inflammatory factors in colon tissues, plasma inflammatory factors, and neurochemical markers. Discussion Elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic radical colectomy are at a high risk of POD, with delayed postoperative recovery and increased healthcare costs. The primary objective of this study is to determine the preventive effect of a short xenon inhalation on the occurrence of POD in these patients. Honeycomb‐layered oxides are a class of cathode materials for sodium‐ion batteries with great potential due to their high voltage and high capacity. However, the structural instability and voltage fading during cycling limit their practical application. Herein, it is revealed that Te substitution into Na3Ni2SbO6 induces a new dual‐honeycomb structure, which can elevate the average discharge voltage of the cathode materials from 3.2 to 3.8 V with improved cycle stability and alleviated voltage decay. Synchrotron operando X‐ray diffraction demonstrates that Te substitution can suppress the O3−P3−O1‐phase transition during charge and discharge processes effectively, benefited from the strong TeO covalent bonds. The resulted Na2.2Ni2Sb0.2Te0.8O6 cathode exhibits a high capacity retention of 70.9% after 1000 cycles at 1C, with an elevated operating voltage of ≈3.8 V. Theoretical calculations reveal that the introduced TeO bonds break the symmetric distribution of charge in Ni/Sb honeycomb structure and elevate the operation voltage by increased valence band width. Proper Te substitution can promote the rate and cycle capability of the cathode by suppressing phase transition and decreasing the bandgap. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Dynamic total-body imaging enables new perspectives to investigate the potential relationship between the central and peripheral regions. Employing uEXPLORER dynamic [11C]CFT PET/CT imaging with voxel-wise simplified reference tissue model (SRTM) kinetic modeling and semi-quantitative measures, we explored how the correlation pattern between nigrostriatal and digestive regions differed between the healthy participants as controls (HC) and patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods: Eleven participants (six HCs and five PDs) underwent 75-min dynamic [11C]CFT scans on a total-body PET/CT scanner (uEXPLORER, United Imaging Healthcare) were retrospectively enrolled. Time activity curves for four nigrostriatal nuclei (caudate, putamen, pallidum, and substantia nigra) and three digestive organs (pancreas, stomach, and duodenum) were obtained. Total-body parametric images of relative transporter rate constant (R1) and distribution volume ratio (DVR) were generated using the SRTM with occipital lobe as the reference tissue and a linear regression with spatial-constraint algorithm. Standardized uptake value ratio (SUVR) at early (1–3 min, SUVREP) and late (60–75 min, SUVRLP) phases were calculated as the semi-quantitative substitutes for R1 and DVR, respectively. Results: Significant differences in estimates between the HC and PD groups were identified in DVR and SUVRLP of putamen (DVR: 4.82 ± 1.58 vs. 2.58 ± 0.53; SUVRLP: 4.65 ± 1.36 vs. 2.84 ± 0.67; for HC and PD, respectively, both p < 0.05) and SUVREP of stomach (1.12 ± 0.27 vs. 2.27 ± 0.65 for HC and PD, respectively; p < 0.01). In the HC group, negative correlations were observed between stomach and substantia nigra in both the R1 and SUVREP values (r=-0.83, p < 0.05 for R1; r=-0.94, p < 0.01 for SUVREP). Positive correlations were identified between pancreas and putamen in both DVR and SUVRLP values (r = 0.94, p < 0.01 for DVR; r = 1.00, p < 0.001 for SUVRLP). By contrast, in the PD group, no correlations were found between the aforementioned target nigrostriatal and digestive areas. Conclusions: The parametric images of R1 and DVR generated from the SRTM model, along with SUVREP and SUVRLP, were proposed to quantify dynamic total-body [11C]CFT PET/CT in HC and PD groups. The distinction in correlation patterns of nigrostriatal and digestive regions between HC and PD groups identified by R1 and DVR, or SUVRs, may provide new insights into the disease mechanism. Background Purpose Methods Results Conclusions The advantages of proton therapy can be further enhanced with online magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guidance. One of the challenges in the realization of MRI‐guided proton therapy (MRPT) is accurately calculating the radiation dose in the presence of magnetic fields.This study aims to develop an efficient and accurate proton dose calculation algorithm adapted to the presence of magnetic fields.An analytical‐numerical radiation dose calculation algorithm, Proton and Ion Dose Engine (PRIDE), was developed. The algorithm combines the pencil beam algorithm (PBA) with a novel iterative voxel‐based ray‐tracing algorithm. The new ray‐tracing method uses fewer assumptions and ensures broader applicability for proton beam trajectory prediction in magnetic fields, and has been compared to Wolf's method and Schellhammer's method. The accuracy of PRIDE algorithm was validated on three phantoms and two practical plans (one single‐field water plan and one prostate tumor plan) in different magnetic field strengths up to 3.0 T. The validation was performed by comparing the results against the Monte Carlo (MC) simulations, using the global gamma index criteria of 2%/2 mm and 3%/3 mm with a 10% threshold.PRIDE showed good agreement with MC in homogeneous and slab heterogeneous phantom, achieving gamma passing rates (%GPs) above 99% for 2%/2 mm criteria when magnetic field strength is not greater than 1.5 T. Although the agreement decreased for scenarios involving high proton energy (240 MeV) and strong magnetic field (3.0 T), the 2%/2 mm %GPs still remained above 98%. In lateral heterogeneous phantom, the accuracy of PRIDE decreased due to the PBA's limitation. For the two practical plans in different magnetic fields, %GPs exceeded 98% and 99% for 2%/2 mm and 3%/3 mm criteria, respectively.PRIDE can perform efficient and accurate proton dose calculation in magnetic fields up to 3.0 T, and is expected to work as a useful tool for proton dose calculation in MRPT. Comprehensive Summary: Seventeen undescribed lindenane‐related sesquiterpenoid dimers, chlorajaponins A—Q (1—17), and 13 reported analogs (18—30) were isolated from Chloranthus japonicus Sieb. Compound 1 possesses an unprecedented 3/5/7/5/5/6/5/3 fused octacyclic scaffold, featuring a 6(5→4)‐abeo‐lindenane monomer, while 2 exhibits a 3/5/6/6/5/6/5/3 fused octacyclic scaffold. Their structures were determined through a combination of spectroscopic analyses and X‐ray crystallography. Compounds 1, 2, and 18 demonstrated significant inhibitory effects on lipid accumulation and effectively reduced the levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol, as well as the levels of aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase in a HepG2 cell model. In addition, compounds 1, 2, and 18 significantly suppressed the protein expression of the fatty acid synthase (FASN) and the sterol regulatory element‐binding protein 1 (SREBP1). Moreover, the anti‐inflammatory assay showed that compounds 19—22 and 25 inhibited the NO production induced by lipopolysaccharide in RAW 264.7 macrophages with IC50 values of 7.89 ± 0.44, 6.25 ± 0.46, 2.98 ± 0.29, 10.77 ± 0.60, and 3.60 ± 0.28 μmol/L. Farmland mortgages are expected to drive county agricultural economic growth (CAEG) as a crucial component of furthering the reform of the rural land system and the reform of the rural financial system against the new backdrop of the new era. This study gathers panel data from 2045 Chinese counties from 2011 to 2020 and uses the difference-in-differences method and the synthetic control method to systematically examine the effects of China's farmland management right mortgage loan (FMRML) pilot program on CAEG. The FMRML pilot program was implemented in 2016, and this research is presented as a quasi-natural experiment. The findings indicate that there is a "policy trap" and that CAEG has not been successfully promoted by the FMRML pilot program. The reason for this is because the pilot program has made county resource mismatch worse, making it unable to fully realize the promotional effect on CAEG, rather than significantly activating the three key drivers of agricultural economic growth: people, land, and money. The impact of the FMRML pilot policy on CAEG is not uniform, according to the results of the heterogeneity study, with a substantial "blocking" effect only in the central region and no significant influence in the western, northeastern, or eastern regions. The findings propose that in order to optimize agricultural mortgage policy and advance CAEG, China and other emerging nations can benefit greatly from the insights this study offers. The purpose of this study was to observe the changes in soil nitrogen pools (active organic and inorganic nitrogen fractions) after applying organic materials under drip irrigation with film mulching in a semi-arid soil. The two-year field experiment included four fertilization treatments: maize straw, fodder grass, sheep manure, and a control treatment with no organic material applied (CK). The results showed that the application of maize straw and sheep manure significantly increased the soil total nitrogen content by 9.02~13.33% and 11.02~17.27%, respectively, while no significant improvement was found with the use of fodder grass. Compared with CK, returning organic materials to the field increased the soil active nitrogen pools, except for ammonium nitrogen content. Meanwhile, the content of particulate organic nitrogen was significantly increased by 42.11~78.85% under the application of organic materials, which took the highest proportion of active nitrogen pools and was sensitive to fertilization treatments. Among the three organic materials, maize straw and sheep manure increased the soil active nitrogen content the most. In conclusion, both maize straw and sheep manure are the optimum organic materials, which could be applied for improving soil nitrogen storage under drip irrigation with film mulching within semi-arid areas. In soft electronics, anisotropic conductive adhesive films (ACFs) are the trending interconnecting approach due to their substantial softness and superior bondability to flexible substrates. However, low bonding pressure (≤1 MPa) and fine-pitch interconnections of ACFs become challenging while being extended in advanced device developments such as wafer-level packaging and three-dimensional multi-layer integrated circuit board assembly. To overcome these difficulties, we studied two types of ACFs with distinct conductive filler sizes (ACF-1: ~20 μm and ACF-2: ~5 μm). We demonstrated a low-pressure thermo-compression bonding technique and investigated the size effect of conductive particles on ACF's mechanical properties in a customized testing device, which consists of flexible printing circuits and Flex on Flex assemblies. A consistency of low interconnection resistance (<1 Ω) after mechanical stress (cycling bending test up to 600 cycles) verifies the assembly's outstanding electrical reliability and mechanical stability and thus validates the great effectiveness of the ACF bonding technique. Additionally, in numerical studies using the finite element method, we developed a generic model to disclose the size effect of Au/Ni-coated polymer fillers in ACF on device reliability under mechanical stress. For the first time, we confirmed that ACFs with smaller filler particles are more prone to coating fracture, leading to deteriorated electrical interconnections, and are more likely to peel off from substrate electrode pads resulting in electrical faults. Abnormalities of DNA modifications are closely related to the pathogenesis and prognosis of pancreatic cancer. The development of third-generation sequencing technology has brought opportunities for the study of new epigenetic modification in cancer. Here, we screened the N6-methyladenine (6mA) and 5-methylcytosine (5mC) modification in pancreatic cancer based on Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing. The 6mA levels were lower compared with 5mC and upregulated in pancreatic cancer. We developed a novel method to define differentially methylated deficient region (DMDR), which overlapped 1319 protein-coding genes in pancreatic cancer. Genes screened by DMDRs were more significantly enriched in the cancer genes compared with the traditional differential methylation method (P  < 0.001 versus P = 0.21, hypergeometric test). We then identified a survival-related signature based on DMDRs (DMDRSig) that stratified patients into high- and low-risk groups. Functional enrichment analysis indicated that 891 genes were closely related to alternative splicing. Multi-omics data from the cancer genome atlas showed that these genes were frequently altered in cancer samples. Survival analysis indicated that seven genes with high expression (ADAM9 , ADAM10 , EPS8 , FAM83A , FAM111B , LAMA3 and TES) were significantly associated with poor prognosis. In addition, the distinction for pancreatic cancer subtypes was determined using 46 subtype-specific genes and unsupervised clustering. Overall, our study is the first to explore the molecular characteristics of 6mA modifications in pancreatic cancer, indicating that 6mA has the potential to be a target for future clinical treatment.
