Background. This study aimed to determine the effect of body mass index (BMI) on bone turnover markers in girls with idiopathic central precocious puberty (ICPP) according to weight status at diagnosis. Methods. Two hundred and eleven girls with ICPP were divided according to their weight status at diagnosis into three groups: normal weight, overweight, and obese. The serum levels of total procollagen type 1 N-terminal propeptide (P1NP), N-terminal midfragment of osteocalcin, β-C-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen, and some biochemical indicators were measured. Associations between variables were evaluated by multiple regression analysis. Results. Serum P1NP concentrations were significantly different among groups (p < 0.001). No other significant differences were noted in N-terminal midfragment of osteocalcin and β-C-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen. BMI was associated with estradiol (r = 0.155, p < 0.05) and inversely associated with P1NP (r = −0.251, p < 0.01), luteinizing hormone peak (r = −0.334, p < 0.01), follicle-stimulating hormone peak (r = −0.215, p < 0.01), and luteinizing hormone/follicle-stimulating hormone peak (r = −0.284, p < 0.01). Multiple regression analysis of factors associated with BMI showed that it was correlated with P1NP, follicle-stimulating hormone base, and luteinizing hormone peak in the overweight group and the obese group. Conclusions. Our findings showed that BMI was associated with P1NP, revealing the reduction of bone formation in overweight and obese girls with ICPP. This study aimed to test cinobufacini therapeutic potential for pancreatic cancer, verify its potential molecular mechanism, and evaluate the cinobufacini impact on pancreatic cancer microenvironment. First, the effect of cinobufacini-treated pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs) supernatant on the value-added ability of pancreatic cancer (PCCs) was tested. The results show that cinobufacini can effectively reduce the ability of PSCs supernatant to promote the value-added PCCs. Further results show that cinobufacini can effectively reduce the concentration of TGFβ in the supernatant of PSCs. Subsequently, the impact of cinobufacini on the transcription and translation levels of key genes in the TGFβ/Smads pathway was examined. The results showed that the impact of cinobufacini on the transcription levels of Smad2, Smad3, and Smad7 was in a concentration-dependent manner, while the transcriptional activity of collagen I mRNA was decreased with the increase of cinobufacini concentration. The results of protein expression showed that cinobufacini could upregulate the expression of inhibitory protein Smad7, inhibit the phosphorylation level of p-Smad2/3, and then suppress the expression of type I collagen (collagen I). On the one hand, this study shows that cinobufacini can inhibit the promotion of PSCs on the proliferation of PCCs. On the other hand, cinobufacini can upregulate the expression of the inhibitory molecule, Smad7, through the TGFβ/Smads pathway and reduce the phosphorylation level of p-Smad2/3, thereby inhibiting the expression of collagen I and pancreatic fibrosis. cinobufacin can inhibit the proliferation of SW1900 cells by blocking the TGFβ/Smads pathway of pancreatic stellate cells. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 2'‐fucosyllactose (2′‐FL) on the repair of monolayer barrier damage in Caco‐2 cells by Lactobacillus rhamnosus KLDS 8001 (KLDS 8001). The results showed that the addition of 2′‐FL not only promoted the adhesion ability of KLDS 8001 to Caco‐2 cells but also improved the anti‐adhesive effect of pathogenic bacteria. Compared with 2′‐FL or KLDS 8001 alone, 2′‐FL+KLDS 8001 significantly reduced lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐induced malondialdehyde (MDA), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release, and cytokine (IL‐1β, IL‐6, and TNF‐α) production. In addition, 2′‐FL effectively promoted the transmembrane electrical resistance (TEER), cell viability, and cellular permeability of KLDS 8001 repaired damaged cells with dose‐dependent properties. The mRNA and protein expression of Zonula Occludens‐1 (ZO‐1), Occludin, and Claudin‐1 were also upregulated in the KLDS 8001 and 2′‐FL co‐treated treatment group. It was speculated that 2′‐FL could effectively regulate the interaction between KLDS 8001 and intestinal epithelial cells to play a role in maintaining intestinal barrier function and avoiding pathogenic bacteria invasion. Practical applications: As the most widely used human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs), 2′‐FL is vital for maintaining infant intestinal health. Our study found that the addition of 2′‐FL promoted KLDS 8001 adhesion, anti‐adhesion of pathogenic bacteria, anti‐inflammatory capacity, repair of barrier damage, and tight junction protein expression, providing a new strategy to protect infant intestinal health and prevent various intestinal diseases. With the popularity of mobile devices, using the traditional client-server model to handle a large number of requests is very challenging. Wireless data broadcasting can be used to provide services to many users at the same time, so reducing the average access time has become a popular research topic. For example, some location-based services (LBS) consider using multiple channels to disseminate information to reduce access time. However, data conflicts may occur when multiple channels are used, where multiple data items associated with the request are broadcasted at about the same time. In this article, we consider the channel switching time and identify the data conflict issue in an on-demand multichannel dissemination system. We model the considered problem as a data broadcast with conflict avoidance (DBCA) problem and prove it is NP-complete. We hence propose the frequent-pattern-based broadcast scheduling (FPBS), which provides a new variant of the frequent pattern tree, FP ∗ -tree, to schedule the requested data. Using FPBS, the system can avoid data conflicts when assigning data items to time slots in the channels. In the simulation, we discussed two modes of FPBS: online and offline. Summary: Ocean wave energy has played a key role of the renewable energy. This study presents a novel single‐buoy wave energy converter (WEC) with directly driven power take‐off (PTO) system to overcome some difficulties that the PTO system in the conventional single‐body direct‐drive WEC (DD‐WEC) is fully submerged under water and far away from the water surface. A rectangular buoy, a direct‐drive PTO system with Halbach permanent magnet linear generator (HPMLG), and slide rails form the chief institutions of the WEC. The translator of the HPMLG is installed on the lateral surface of buoy, and the stator is mounted on the seacoast or the boats and ships. While wave drives the floating buoy to move, a relative movement between the translator and the stator of the HPMLG is caused. Then, the relative movement generates electricity. To explore theoretically its feasibility, the dynamics of the wave and the floating buoy is analyzed in detail. Thus, the structural parameters are analyzed and determined, and load performance is described. Furthermore, the finite element method (FEM) is used to conduct the performance evaluation of the HPMLG and traditional permanent magnet linear generator (TPMLG). The generated power of the HPMLG is 19% higher than the TPMLG under the same conditions. Lastly, Experiments of a fabricated prototype are conducted in the wave tank. Background and Aims. Gastroesophageal variceal bleeding is a serious complication of portal hypertension in cirrhotic patients and could be predicted by hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG). However, whether the presence of ascites affects the prognostic value of HVPG for patients with acute variceal bleeding is still unknown. This retrospective study is aimed at investigating the influence of ascites on predictive performance of HVPG for early rebleeding in cirrhotic patients with acute variceal bleeding. Methods. In this retrospective study, a total of 148 patients with cirrhosis hospitalized for acute variceal bleeding who underwent HVPG measurement and endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) for the prevention of rebleeding were included. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) and logistical regression method were employed to analyze the predictive performance of HVPG for early rebleeding. The locally weighted scatterplot smoothing approach was adopted to assess the monotonicity between bleeding risk and HVPG. Results. A significantly higher HVPG level was observed in patients with early rebleeding compared to patients without rebleeding in the nonascites cohort. When using HVPG to predict early rebleeding, there was a lower area under curve in the ascites cohort compared to the nonascites cohort. HVPG was recognized as a risk factor for early rebleeding by a logistic regression model only in the nonascites cohort. An overall monotonicity in the trend of change in HVPG and risk for early rebleeding was observed in the nonascites cohort solely. Conclusion. Background. The aims of this study were to explore the characteristics of left ventricular (LV) functional changes in subjects with or without acute mountain sickness (AMS) and their associations with AMS incidence. Methods. A total of 589 healthy men were enrolled and took a trip from Chengdu (500 m, above sea level (asl)) to Lhasa (3700 m, asl) by airplane. Basic characteristics, physiological data, and echocardiographic parameters were collected both at Chengdu and Lhasa, respectively. AMS was identified by the Lake Louise Questionnaire Score. Results. The oxygen saturation (SpO2), end-systolic volume index, end-diastolic volume index (EDVi), stroke volume index (SVi), E-wave velocity, and E/A ratio were decreased, whereas the heart rate (HR), ejection fraction, cardiac index (CI), and A-wave velocity were increased at the third day after arrival, as evaluated by an oximeter and echocardiography. However, AMS patients showed higher HR and lower EDVi, SVi, CI, E-wave velocity, and E/A ratio than AMS-free subjects. Among them, SVi, which is mainly correlated with the changes of EDVi and altered LV filling pattern, was the most valuable factor associated with AMS incidence following receiver-operator characteristic curves and linear and Poisson regression. Compared with subjects in the highest SVi tertile, subjects in the middle SVi tertile showed higher multivariable Incidence Rate Ratios (IRR) for AMS with higher incidences of mild headache and gastrointestinal symptoms, whereas subjects in the lowest SVi tertile showed even higher multivariable IRR with higher incidences of all the symptoms. Conclusions. This relatively large-scale case-control study revealed that the reduction of SVi correlated with the altered LV filling pattern was associated with the incidence and clinical severity of AMS. The AR signaling pathway plays an important role in initiation and progression of many hormone-related cancers including prostate, bladder, kidney, lung, and breast cancer. However, the potential roles of androgen-responsive long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in hormone-related cancers remained unclear. In the present study, we identified 469 novel androgen-responsive lncRNAs using microarray data. After validating the accuracy of the array data, we constructed a transcriptional network which contained more than 30 transcriptional factors using ChIP-seq data to explore upstream regulators of androgen-responsive lncRNAs. Next, we conducted bioinformatics analysis to identify lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory network. To explore the potential roles of androgen-responsive lncRNAs in hormone-related cancers, we performed coexpression network and PPI network analyses using TCGA data. GO and KEGG analyses showed these lncRNAs were mainly involved in regulating signal transduction, transcription, development, cell adhesion, immune response, cell differentiation, and MAPK signaling pathway. We also highlight the prognostic value of HPN-AS1, TPTEP1, and LINC00623 in cancer outcomes. Background. The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in Wuhan, China, was caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Anisodamine hydrobromide injection (AHI), the main ingredient of which is anisodamine, is a listed drug for improving microcirculation in China. Anisodamine can improve the condition of patients with COVID-19. Materials and Methods. Protein-protein interactions obtained from the String databases were used to construct the protein interaction network (PIN) of AHI using Cytoscape. The crucial targets of AHI PIN were screened by calculating three topological parameters. Gene ontology and pathway enrichment analyses were performed. The intersection between the AHI component proteins and angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) coexpression proteins was analyzed. We further investigated our predictions of crucial targets by performing molecular docking studies with anisodamine. Results. The PIN of AHI, including 172 nodes and 1454 interactions, was constructed. A total of 54 crucial targets were obtained based on topological feature calculations. The results of Gene Ontology showed that AHI could regulate cell death, cytokine-mediated signaling pathways, and immune system processes. KEGG disease pathways were mainly enriched in viral infections, cancer, and immune system diseases. Between AHI targets and ACE2 coexpression proteins, 26 common proteins were obtained. The results of molecular docking showed that anisodamine bound well to all the crucial targets. Conclusion. The network pharmacological strategy integrated molecular docking to explore the mechanism of action of AHI against COVID-19. Background. High-altitude headache (HAH) is the most common complication after high-altitude exposure. Hypoxia-inducible factor- (HIF-) related genes have been confirmed to contribute to high-altitude acclimatization. We aim to investigate a possible association between HIF-related genes and HAH in the Chinese Han population. Methods. In total, 580 healthy Chinese Han volunteers were recruited in Chengdu (500 m) and carried to Lhasa (3700 m) by plane in 2 hours. HAH scores and basic physiological parameters were collected within 18–24 hours after the arrival. Thirty-five single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in HIF-related genes were genotyped, and linkage disequilibrium (LD) was evaluated by Haploview software. The functions of SNPs/haplotypes for HAH were developed by using logistic regression analysis. Results. In comparison with wild types, the rs4953354 "G" allele (P = 0.013), rs6756667 "A" allele (P = 0.036) in EPAS1, and rs6520015 "C" allele in PPARA (P = 0.009) were significantly associated with decreased risk of HAH. The rs7292407-rs6520015 haplotype "C-C" in PPARA was identified as a protective factor (P = 0.030). Importantly, EPAS1 and PPARA genes have synergistic effects in decreasing HAH risk (P = 0.003). Conclusions. EPAS1 and PPARA polymorphisms were associated with HAH in the Chinese Han population. Our findings pointed out potentially predictive gene markers, provided new insights into understanding pathogenesis, and may further provide prophylaxis and treatment strategies for HAH. Background. Approximately 20–40% of recipients of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) do not respond to it based on the current patient selection criteria. The purpose of this study was to identify baseline parameters that can predict CRT response and to evaluate the effect of those predictive parameters on long-term prognosis. Methods. This was a retrospective, nonrandomized, noncontrolled cohort study. Patients who received CRT in our centre were divided into responders and nonresponders by the definition of CRT response (an increase in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of ≥5% and improvement of ≥1 New York Heart Association (NYHA) class from baseline to the 6-month follow-up). Results. Of the 101 patients, 68 were responders and 33 were nonresponders. Left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD; OR: 0.88, 95% CI: 0.81–0.95, P = 0.001) and QRS duration (OR: 1.07, 95% CI: 1.04–1.10, P < 0.001) were independent predictors of CRT response. The combination of LVEDD and QRS duration was more valuable for predicting CRT response (AUC 0.836; 95% CI: 0.76–0.91; P < 0.001). Moreover, the combination of LVEDD ≤ 71 mm and QRS duration ≥ 170 ms had a low incidence of all-cause mortality, HF hospitalisation, and the composite endpoint. In addition, baseline LVEDD had a positive correlation with QRS duration (R = 0.199 , P = 0.046). Responders to CRT had better LV reverse remodeling. Conclusion. The combination of LVEDD and QRS duration provided more robust prediction of CRT response. Moreover, the combination of LVEDD ≤ 71 mm and QRS duration ≥ 170 ms was associated with a low incidence of all-cause mortality, HF hospitalisation, and the composite endpoint. Background. Response to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) varies significantly among patients. This study aimed to identify baseline characteristics that could predict super-response to CRT and to evaluate the long-term prognosis in super-responders. Methods. We retrospectively reviewed the data of 73 consecutive patients who received CRT. Patients were considered as super-responders after 6-month follow-up when NYHA class reduction to I or II combined with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥ 50% was observed. Patients were divided into super-responders group and non-super-responders group. All-cause mortality or hospitalization for heart failure (HF) was referred to the combined end point. Results. 17 (23.3%) patients were super-responders. HF duration, left atrial dimension (LAD), and left bundle branch block (LBBB) were independent predictors of super-response to CRT. The combination of HF duration and LAD could provide more robust prediction of super-response than standalone HF duration (0.899 versus 0.789, Z = 2.207, P = 0.027) or standalone LAD (0.899 versus 0.775, Z = 2.487, P = 0.013). super-responders had excellent LV reverse remodeling. The cumulative incidences of combined end point were significantly lower in the super-responders group, LAD ≤ 42mm group, and combination of HF duration ≤ 48 months and LAD ≤ 42mm group. LBBB remained associated with a lowered risk of the combined end point (HR: 0.19, 95% CI: 0.07-0.57, P = 0.003), whereas LAD was associated with a raised risk of the combined end point (HR: 1.09, 95% CI: 1.02-1.17, P = 0.014). Conclusions. HF duration, LAD, and LBBB independently predicted super-response. The combination of HF duration and LAD makes more robust prediction of CRT super-response. Super-responders had excellent LV reverse remodeling and decreased the incidences of the combined end point. LBBB and LAD were independently associated with the combined end point. The ALOG domain genes, named after the Arabidopsis LSH1 and Oryza G1 (ALOG) proteins, have frequently been reported as key developmental regulators in rice and Arabidopsis. However, the investigation of the ALOG gene family is limited. Here, we conducted a genome-wide investigation of the ALOG gene family in rice and six other species. In total, eighty-four ALOG domain genes were identified from the seven species, of which fourteen ALOG domain genes (OsG1/G1Ls) were identified in the rice genome. The fourteen OsG1/G1Ls were unevenly distributed on eight chromosomes, and we found that eight segmental duplications contributed to the expansion of OsG1/G1Ls in the rice genome. The eighty-four ALOG family genes from seven species were classified into six clusters, and the ALOG domain-defined motifs 1, 2, and 3 were highly conserved across species according to the phylogenetic and structural analysis. However, the newly identified motifs 4 and 5 were only present in monocots, indicating a specified function in monocots. Moreover, OsG1/G1Ls exhibited tissue-specific expression patterns. Coexpression analysis suggested that OsG1 integrates OsMADS50 and the downstream MADS-box genes, such as OsMADS1, to regulate the development of rice inflorescence; OsG1L7 potentially associates with OsMADS22 and OsMADS55 to regulate stem elongation. In addition, comparative expression analysis revealed the conserved biological functions of ALOG family genes among rice, maize, and Arabidopsis. Xueshuan Xinmaining Tablet (XXT) is a widely used traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of stroke, chest pain, coronary heart disease, and angina pectoris caused by blood stasis. Having a multiple-component preparation, it is still far from meeting the requirements of modernization and standardization because its detailed chemical basis and action mechanism have not been clarified. In this work, the different batches of XXT samples were analyzed by HPLC and the typical sample was analyzed by UPLC-ESI-Q-TOF/MS to understand its chemical profiling. As a result, 77 chromatographic peaks were detected, among which 63 constituents were identified or tentatively characterized based on the comparison of retention time and UV spectra with authentic compounds as well as by summarized MS fragmentation rules and matching of empirical molecular formula with those of published components. This is the first systematic report on the chemical profiling of the commercial XXT products, which provides the sufficiently chemical evidence for the global quality evaluation of XXT products. In order to elucidate the reaction behavior of cellulose component in bagasse, the homogeneous phthalation of bagasse was investigated comparatively with the isolated cellulose in 1-allyl-3-methylimidazium chloride (AmimCl) with phthalic anhydride (PA) at the dosage of 10–50 mmol/g. The phthalation degrees of bagasse and the isolated cellulose were in the range of 5.66% to 22.71% and 11.61% to 44.11%, respectively. A phthalation degree increase of cellulose was proportional to phthalic anhydride dosage due to its regular macromolecular structure and followed the equation yPDI=0.004x-0.02. FT-IR and 2D HSQC NMR analyses confirmed the attachment of phthaloyl group. The phthalation reactivity of the three hydroxyls in the isolated cellulose followed the order of C-6 > C-2 > C-3, and the more selective phthalation to C-6 position was found in the cellulose component in bagasse. Sugarcane bagasse, lignocellulosic residue from the sugar industry, is an abundant and renewable bioresource on the earth. The application of ionic liquids in sugarcane bagasse biorefinery is gaining increasing interest. The homogeneous modification of sugarcane bagasse by free radical initiated graft copolymerization of acrylate monomers using 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride as solvent was performed. A variety of sugarcane bagasse graft copolymers with different weight percent gain were prepared via adjusting the monomer dosage. FT-IR studies confirmed the success in attaching the poly(acrylate) side chains onto sugarcane bagasse. Oil absorbency studies suggested that the sugarcane bagasse graft copolymers were potential biobased materials for effective treatment of ester-based oils. SEM studies showed that the sugarcane bagasse graft copolymers displayed a dense morphology structure. Thermogravimetric analysis demonstrated that the thermal stability of sugarcane bagasse decreased after the homogeneous modification by the graft copolymerization. This paper presents the performance analysis of the multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) ultra-wideband (UWB) systems for multipath fading and multiuser interference channels. A closed form approximation of the BER performance of the MB-OFDM UWB system with multiple interferences is proposed. Based on the derived approximation, the effects on the BER performance for the choice of the codeword constraint lengths of the convolutional encoder, the length of the cyclic prefix, and the multiuser environments of two or more interferers are thoroughly discussed. Four UWB multipath fading channels are also investigated for the BER performance of the MB-OFDM UWB system. The simulated results provide us with useful information to appropriately choose the parameters of the MB-OFDM UWB system for the sake of achieving the BER performance that conforms to requirement of the FCC standards. The ability of two very different active carbons, a polymer-derived carbon (with ultramicropores and supermicropores, and a large volume of "transport" pores) and a coconut shell-derived carbon (predominantly ultramicroporous), to reduce the levels of volatile toxicants in cigarette smoke has been measured and compared. The polymer-derived carbon was found to be approximately twice as effective in removing the majority of measured smoke vapour-phase toxicants compared to the coconut shell-derived carbon in three different cigarette formats and with two different smoking regimes. Single-component dynamic breakthrough experiments were conducted with benzene, acrylonitrile and 2-butanone at 298 K for beds of each carbon under dry (0% RH) and wet (60% RH) conditions. Longer breakthrough times were found with the polymer-derived carbon, and breakthrough times recorded under wet conditions were found to be up to 20% shorter than those obtained under dry conditions. Background. Allergic asthma is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases of airways. Severe asthma may lead to hospitalization and death. Sesame oil is a natural product with anti-inflammatory property. However, the effect of sesame oil on allergic asthma has never been studied. Objective. We investigate the effect of sesame oil on pulmonary inflammation in allergic asthma model. Methods. Allergic airway inflammation was induced by sensitizing with two doses of 10 mg ovalbumin (OVA) and then challenged with 1% OVA nebulizer exposure (1 h/day) for 3 days. Sesame oil (0.25, 0.5, or 1 mL/kg/day) was given orally 30 min before each challenge. Samples were collected 24 h after the last challenge. Results. Data showed that sesame oil inhibited pulmonary edema and decreased interleukin (IL)-1ß and IL-6 levels in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid in OVA-treated mice. Sesame oil also decreased pulmonary nitrite level, inducible nitric oxide synthase expression, and neutrophil infiltration induced by OVA. Further, sesame oil decreased serum IgE level in OVA-treated mice. Conclusion.
