To reduce safety accidents caused by distracted driving and address issues such as low recognition accuracy and deployment difficulties in current algorithms for distracted behavior detection, this paper proposes an algorithm that utilizes an improved KNN for classifying driver posture features to predict distracted driving behavior. Firstly, the number of channels in the Lightweight OpenPose network is pruned to predict and output the coordinates of key points in the upper body of the driver. Secondly, based on the principles of ergonomics, driving behavior features are modeled, and a set of five-dimensional feature values are obtained through geometric calculations. Finally, considering the relationship between the distance between samples and the number of samples, this paper proposes an adjustable distance-weighted KNN algorithm (ADW-KNN), which is used for classification and prediction. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieved a recognition rate of 94.04% for distracted driving behavior on the public dataset SFD3, with a speed of up to 50FPS, superior to mainstream deep learning algorithms in terms of accuracy and speed. A deep learning-based Visual Inertial SLAM technique is proposed in this paper to ensure accurate autonomous localization of mobile robots in environments with dynamic objects. Addressing the limitations of real-time performance in deep learning algorithms and the poor robustness of pure visual geometry algorithms, this paper presents a deep learning-based Visual Inertial SLAM technique. Firstly, a non-blocking model is designed to extract semantic information from images. Then, a motion probability hierarchy model is proposed to obtain prior motion probabilities of feature points. For image frames without semantic information, a motion probability propagation model is designed to determine the prior motion probabilities of feature points. Furthermore, considering that the output of inertial measurements is unaffected by dynamic objects, this paper integrates inertial measurement information to improve the estimation accuracy of feature point motion probabilities. An adaptive threshold-based motion probability estimation method is proposed, and finally, the positioning accuracy is enhanced by eliminating feature points with excessively high motion probabilities. The annotation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images plays an important role in deep learning-based MRI segmentation tasks. Semi-automatic annotation algorithms are helpful for improving the efficiency and reducing the difficulty of MRI image annotation. However, the existing semi-automatic annotation algorithms based on deep learning have poor pre-annotation performance in the case of insufficient segmentation labels. In this paper, we propose a semi-automatic MRI annotation algorithm based on semi-weakly supervised learning. In order to achieve a better pre-annotation performance in the case of insufficient segmentation labels, semi-supervised and weakly supervised learning were introduced, and a semi-weakly supervised learning segmentation algorithm based on sparse labels was proposed. In addition, in order to improve the contribution rate of a single segmentation label to the performance of the pre-annotation model, an iterative annotation strategy based on active learning was designed. The experimental results on public MRI datasets show that the proposed algorithm achieved an equivalent pre-annotation performance when the number of segmentation labels was much less than that of the fully supervised learning algorithm, which proves the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Underwater acoustic (UWA) channel prediction technology, as an important topic in UWA communication, has played an important role in UWA adaptive communication network and underwater target perception. Although many significant advancements have been achieved in underwater acoustic channel prediction over the years, a comprehensive summary and introduction is still lacking. As the first comprehensive overview of UWA channel prediction, this paper introduces past works and algorithm implementation methods of channel prediction from the perspective of linear, kernel-based, and deep learning approaches. Importantly, based on available at-sea experiment datasets, this paper compares the performance of current primary UWA channel prediction algorithms under a unified system framework, providing researchers with a comprehensive and objective understanding of UWA channel prediction. Finally, it discusses the directions and challenges for future research. The survey finds that linear prediction algorithms are the most widely applied, and deep learning, as the most advanced type of algorithm, has moved this field into a new stage. The experimental results show that the linear algorithms have the lowest computational complexity, and when the training samples are sufficient, deep learning algorithms have the best prediction performance. This document is a summary of a special issue of the journal Applied Sciences on real-time diagnosis algorithms in biomedical applications and decision support tools. As a hot topic in the field of library and information, the research on topic recognition and trend prediction has been paid close attention by academic circles. This paper uses a systematic literature review, bibliometric analyses and classification methods. Through a systematic literature review, 96 studies about topic identification and evolution prediction models are selected from the CNKI database. By using VOSviewer to conduct bibliometric analyses, the key research content and themes are revealed. Through the classification method, EXCEL is used to summarize models and algorithms used in the literature comprehensively. It is found that topic identification models and algorithms can be divided into four categories: ① Topic model based on LDA and related derivative models. ② Machine learning and deep learning methods. ③ Methods based on reference relation. ④ Text mining methods. Trend prediction models and algorithms mainly cover two categories: ① deep learning or machine learning models and algorithms based on time sequence; ② link prediction algorithms based on complex network. At the same time, we have also summarized the common index system involved in each study and the way to evaluate the effectiveness of the method, thus this paper comprehensively reveals the application progress in academic circles of topic identification and prediction models and algorithms from the last 10 years and beyond, based on the CNKI database. The purpose is to determine the most popular models and algorithms applied in research, generalize the corresponding indicator systems and validation methods, and finally provide references for model choice or evaluation when identifying and predicting topics in the future. Visual tracking is a key research area in computer vision, as tracking technology is increasingly being applied in daily life, it has high-research significance. Visual tracking technology usually faces various challenging interference factors, among which, a similar background is one of the factors that has a greater impact on the tracking process. Kernelized Correlation Filter (KCF) tracking algorithm can track targets quickly by using circulant matrix, and has good tracking effect, so it is widely used in the tracking field. However, when the target is interfered by similar objects, the filter template in KCF cannot effectively distinguish between the target and the interfering object. This is because the filter only uses the texture gradient feature as the description object of the target, which will make the KCF algorithm extremely sensitive to the change of the target; therefore, the filter has difficultly making a judgment in the unstable scene, cannot accurately describe the target state, and finally leads to tracking failure. Therefore, this paper fuses Color Names (CN) on the basis of the original Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) feature of KCF, which can obtain a more comprehensive feature representation, and realize the application of combined features to improve the anti-interference ability of KCF in complex scenes. In addition, this paper also uses the peak response of correlation filtering as the judgment condition to determine whether the current tracking result is stable. When the filter is in an unstable tracking state, the proposed algorithm will select the value with high confidence from its multiple responses as the candidate target of the Siamese network, and the deep learning network is used as the incremental learning method of the filter. The Channel Attention is introduced into the network layer, so that the network can adaptively reason and adjust the extracted universal features, and the enhanced feature information is used as the final discriminant basis. Finally, according to the response, the target with the smallest error compared with the target template is selected from multiple candidate targets as the final tracking result. The experimental results show that the average accuracy and average success rate of the proposed algorithm are significantly improved compared with the classical tracking algorithm, especially in dealing with similar target interference. Deep reinforcement learning is an artificial intelligence technology that combines deep learning and reinforcement learning and has been widely applied in multiple fields. As a type of deep reinforcement learning algorithm, the A3C (Asynchronous Advantage Actor-Critic) algorithm can effectively utilize computer resources and improve training efficiency by synchronously training Actor-Critic in multiple threads. Inspired by the excellent performance of the A3C algorithm, this paper uses the A3C algorithm to solve the UUV (Unmanned Underwater Vehicle) collision avoidance planning problem in unknown environments. This collision avoidance planning algorithm can have the ability to plan in real-time while ensuring a shorter path length, and the output action space can meet the kinematic constraints of UUVs. In response to the problem of UUV collision avoidance planning, this paper designs the state space, action space, and reward function. The simulation results show that the A3C collision avoidance planning algorithm can guide a UUV to avoid obstacles and reach the preset target point. Most LLIE algorithms focus solely on enhancing the brightness of the image and ignore the extraction of image details, leading to losing much of the information that reflects the semantics of the image, losing the edges, textures, and shape features, resulting in image distortion. In this paper, the DELLIE algorithm is proposed, an algorithmic framework with deep learning as the central premise that focuses on the extraction and fusion of image detail features. Unlike existing methods, basic enhancement preprocessing is performed first, and then the detail enhancement components are obtained by using the proposed detail component prediction model. Then, the V-channel is decomposed into a reflectance map and an illumination map by proposed decomposition network, where the enhancement component is used to enhance the reflectance map. Then, the S and H channels are nonlinearly constrained using an improved adaptive loss function, while the attention mechanism is introduced into the algorithm proposed in this paper. Finally, the three channels are fused to obtain the final enhancement effect. The experimental results show that, compared with the current mainstream LLIE algorithm, the DELLIE algorithm proposed in this paper can extract and recover the image detail information well while improving the luminance, and the PSNR, SSIM, and NIQE are optimized by 1.85%, 4.00%, and 2.43% on average on recognized datasets. Helmet recognition algorithms based on deep learning aim to enable unmanned full-time detection and record violations such as failure to wear a helmet. However, in actual scenarios, weather and human factors can be complicated, which poses challenges for safety helmet detection. Camera shaking and head occlusion are common issues that can lead to inaccurate results and low availability. To address these practical problems, this paper proposes a novel helmet detection algorithm called DAAM-YOLOv5. The DAAM-YOLOv5 algorithm enriches the diversity of datasets under different weather conditions to improve the mAP of the model in corresponding scenarios by using Mosaic-9 data enhancement. Additionally, this paper introduces a novel dynamic anchor box mechanism, K-DAFS, into this algorithm and enhances the generation speed of the blocked target anchor boxes by using bidirectional feature fusion (BFF). Furthermore, by using an attention mechanism, this paper redistributes the weight of objects in a picture and appropriately reduces the model's sensitivity to the edge information of occluded objects through pooling. This approach improves the model's generalization ability, which aligns with practical application requirements. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, this paper adopts the region of interest (ROI) detection strategy and carries out experiments on specific, real datasets. Compared with traditional deep learning algorithms on the same datasets, our method effectively distinguishes helmet-wearing conditions even when head information is occluded and improves the detection speed of the model. Many security detectors do not have the ability to output individual luggage package images and are not compatible with deep learning algorithms. In this paper, a luggage package extraction of X-ray images based on the ES-MBD (Edge Sensitive Multi-channel Background Difference Algorithm) method is proposed, which is aiming at the problem that background difference binarization is insensitive to texture features and edge detection binarization is insensitive to smooth areas. In this method, X-ray luggage package images from complex original video images are used as a key target, the RGB three-channel background difference is calculated from the original X-ray image, the edge detection of the grayscale map is performed using the Sobel operator optimized by local gradient enhancement, and the morphological expansion process is performed on the combined results to obtain the complete wrapping target. The Suzuki algorithm is used to detect the outline of the binarized package image, match the package frame area and determine the key target. The ES-MBD method solves the problem of information loss in the traditional binarization method, and retains the information of insensitive regions while reducing noise. Through experimental comparison, the accuracy of ES-MBD binarization method reaches 97.3%, the recall rate reaches 96.5%, and ES-MBD method has obvious advantages in key target extraction of X-ray images. Environmental effects may lead to cracking, stiffness loss, brace damage, and other damages in bridges, frame structures, buildings, etc. Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) technology could prevent catastrophic events by detecting damage early. In recent years, Deep Learning (DL) has developed rapidly and has been applied to SHM to detect, localize, and evaluate diverse damages through efficient feature extraction. This paper analyzes 337 articles through a systematic literature review to investigate the application of DL for SHM in the operation and maintenance phase of facilities from three perspectives: data, DL algorithms, and applications. Firstly, the data types in SHM and the corresponding collection methods are summarized and analyzed. The most common data types are vibration signals and images, accounting for 80% of the literature studied. Secondly, the popular DL algorithm types and application areas are reviewed, of which CNN accounts for 60%. Then, this article carefully analyzes the specific functions of DL application for SHM based on the facility's characteristics. The most scrutinized study focused on cracks, accounting for 30 percent of research papers. Finally, challenges and trends in applying DL for SHM are discussed. Simple Summary: The 2021 WHO classification of central nervous system (CNS) tumors is challenging for neuroradiologists due to the central role of the molecular profile of tumors. We performed a scoping review of recent literature to assess the existing data on the power of novel data analysis tools to predict new tumor classes by imaging. We found room for performance improvement for subgroups with lower incidence (e.g., 1p/19q codeleted or IDH1/2 mutated gliomas) and patients with rare diagnoses (e.g., pediatric gliomas, midline gliomas). More data regarding functional MRI techniques need to be collected. Studies explicitly designed to assess the generalizability of AI-aided tools for predicting molecular tumor subgroups are lacking. The 2021 WHO classification of CNS tumors is a challenge for neuroradiologists due to the central role of the molecular profile of tumors. The potential of novel data analysis tools in neuroimaging must be harnessed to maintain its role in predicting tumor subgroups. We performed a scoping review to determine current evidence and research gaps. A comprehensive literature search was conducted regarding glioma subgroups according to the 2021 WHO classification and the use of MRI, radiomics, machine learning, and deep learning algorithms. Sixty-two original articles were included and analyzed by extracting data on the study design and results. Only 8% of the studies included pediatric patients. Low-grade gliomas and diffuse midline gliomas were represented in one-third of the research papers. Public datasets were utilized in 22% of the studies. Conventional imaging sequences prevailed; data on functional MRI (DWI, PWI, CEST, etc.) are underrepresented. Multiparametric MRI yielded the best prediction results. IDH mutation and 1p/19q codeletion status prediction remain in focus with limited data on other molecular subgroups. Reported AUC values range from 0.6 to 0.98. Studies designed to assess generalizability are scarce. Performance is worse for smaller subgroups (e.g., 1p/19q codeleted or IDH1/2 mutated gliomas). Deepfakes are digital audio, video, or images manipulated using machine learning algorithms. These manipulated media files can convincingly depict individuals doing or saying things they never actually did. Deepfakes pose significant risks to our lives, including national security, financial markets, and personal privacy. The ability to create convincing deep fakes can also harm individuals' reputations and can be used to spread disinformation and fake news. As such, there is a growing need for reliable and accurate methods to detect deep fakes and prevent their harmful effects. In this paper, a hybrid convolutional neural network (CNN) and recurrent neural network (RNN) with a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is utilized to demonstrate a deep learning strategy for detecting deepfake videos. High accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and F1 score were attained by the proposed approach when tested on two publicly available datasets: Celeb-DF and the Deepfake Detection Challenge Dataset (DFDC). Specifically, the proposed method achieved an average accuracy of 97.26% on Celeb-DF and an average accuracy of 94.2% on DFDC. Researchers have explored various methods to fully exploit the all-weather characteristics of Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images to achieve high-precision, real-time, computationally efficient, and easily deployable ship target detection models. These methods include Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) algorithms and deep learning approaches such as RCNN, YOLO, and SSD, among others. While these methods outperform traditional algorithms in SAR ship detection, challenges still exist in handling the arbitrary ship distributions and small target features in SAR remote sensing images. Existing models are complex, with a large number of parameters, hindering effective deployment. This paper introduces a YOLOv7 oriented bounding box SAR ship detection model (YOLOv7oSAR). The model employs a rotation box detection mechanism, uses the KLD loss function to enhance accuracy, and introduces a Bi-former attention mechanism to improve small target detection. By redesigning the network's width and depth and incorporating a lightweight P-ELAN structure, the model effectively reduces its size and computational requirements. The proposed model achieves high-precision detection results on the public RSDD dataset (94.8% offshore, 66.6% nearshore), and its generalization ability is validated on a custom dataset (94.2% overall detection accuracy). Deep learning, which is a dominating technique in artificial intelligence, has completely changed image understanding over the past decade. As a consequence, the sea ice extraction (SIE) problem has reached a new era. We present a comprehensive review of four important aspects of SIE, including algorithms, datasets, applications and future trends. Our review focuses on research published from 2016 to the present, with a specific focus on deep-learning-based approaches in the last five years. We divided all related algorithms into three categories, including the conventional image classification approach, the machine learning-based approach and deep-learning-based methods. We reviewed the accessible ice datasets including SAR-based datasets, the optical-based datasets and others. The applications are presented in four aspects including climate research, navigation, geographic information systems (GIS) production and others. This study examines the research climate on machine learning applications in renewable energy (MLARE). Therefore, the publication trends (PT) and bibliometric analysis (BA) on MLARE research published and indexed in the Elsevier Scopus database between 2012 and 2021 were examined. The PT was adopted to deduce the major stakeholders, top-cited publications, and funding organizations on MLARE, whereas BA elucidated critical insights into the research landscape, scientific developments, and technological growth. The PT revealed 1218 published documents comprising 46.9% articles, 39.7% conference papers, and 6.0% reviews on the topic. Subject area analysis revealed MLARE research spans the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among others, which indicates it is a broad, multidisciplinary, and impactful research topic. The most prolific researcher, affiliations, country, and funder are Ravinesh C. Deo, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, United States, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, respectively. The most prominent journals on the top are Applied Energy and Energies, which indicates that journal reputation and open access are critical considerations for the author's choice of publication outlet. The high productivity of the major stakeholders in MLARE is due to collaborations and research funding support. The keyword co-occurrence analysis identified four (4) clusters or thematic areas on MLARE, which broadly describe the systems, technologies, tools/technologies, and socio-technical dynamics of MLARE research. Ship fire may result in significant damage to its structure and large economic loss. Hence, the prompt identification of fires is essential in order to provide prompt reactions and effective mitigation strategies. However, conventional detection systems exhibit limited efficacy and accuracy in detecting targets, which has been mostly attributed to limitations imposed by distance constraints and the motion of ships. Although the development of deep learning algorithms provides a potential solution, the computational complexity of ship fire detection algorithm pose significant challenges. To solve this, this paper proposes a lightweight ship fire detection algorithm based on YOLOv8n. Initially, a dataset, including more than 4000 unduplicated images and their labels, is established before training. In order to ensure the performance of algorithms, both fire inside ship rooms and also fire on board are considered. Then after tests, YOLOv8n is selected as the model with the best performance and fastest speed from among several advanced object detection algorithms. GhostnetV2-C2F is then inserted in the backbone of the algorithm for long-range attention with inexpensive operation. In addition, spatial and channel reconstruction convolution (SCConv) is used to reduce redundant features with significantly lower complexity and computational costs for real-time ship fire detection. For the neck part, omni-dimensional dynamic convolution is used for the multi-dimensional attention mechanism, which also lowers the parameters. After these improvements, a lighter and more accurate YOLOv8n algorithm, called Ship-Fire Net, was proposed. The proposed method exceeds 0.93, both in precision and recall for fire and smoke detection in ships. In addition, the mAP@0.5 reaches about 0.9. Despite the improvement in accuracy, Ship-Fire Net also has fewer parameters and lower FLOPs compared to the original, which accelerates its detection speed. Hybrid approaches combining machine learning with traditional inverse problem solution methods represent a promising direction for the further development of inverse modeling algorithms. The paper proposes an approach to emission source identification from measurement data for advection–diffusion–reaction models. The approach combines general-type source identification and post-processing refinement: first, emission source identification by measurement data is carried out by a sensitivity operator-based algorithm, and then refinement is done by incorporating a priori information about unknown sources. A general-type distributed emission source identified at the first stage is transformed into a localized source consisting of multiple point-wise sources. The second, refinement stage consists of two steps: point-wise source localization and emission rate estimation. Emission source localization is carried out using deep learning with convolutional neural networks. Training samples are generated using a sensitivity operator obtained at the source identification stage. The algorithm was tested in regional remote sensing emission source identification scenarios for the Lake Baikal region and was able to refine the emission source reconstruction results. Cryptography offers solutions, but vulnerabilities persist due to physical attacks like malware. This led to the emergence of Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs). PUFs leverage the inherent disorder in physical systems to generate unique responses to challenges. Strong PUFs, susceptible to modeling attacks, can be predicted by malicious parties using machine learning and algebraic techniques. Weak PUFs, with minimal challenges, face similar threats if built upon strong PUFs. Despite some weaknesses, PUFs serve as security components in various protocols. Modeling attacks' success depends on suitable models and machine learning algorithms. Logistic Regression and Random Forest Classifier are potent in this context. In recent times, there has been considerable focus on harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) for medical image analysis and healthcare purposes. In this study, we introduce CADFU (Computer-Aided Diagnosis System for Foot Ulcers), a pioneering diabetic foot ulcer diagnosis system. The primary objective of CADFU is to detect and segment ulcers and similar chronic wounds in medical images. To achieve this, we employ two distinct algorithms. Firstly, DHuNeT, an innovative Dual-Phase Hyperactive UNet, is utilized for the segmentation task. Second, we used YOLOv8 for the task of detecting wounds. The DHuNeT autoencoder, employed for the wound segmentation task, is the paper's primary and most significant contribution. DHuNeT is the combination of sequentially stacking two UNet autoencoders. The hyperactive information transmission from the first UNet to the second UNet is the key idea of DHuNeT. The first UNet feeds the second UNet the features it has learned, and the two UNets combine their learned features to create new, more accurate, and effective features. We achieve good performance measures, especially in terms of the Dice co-efficient and precision, with segmentation scores of 85% and 92.6%, respectively. We also aimed to determine whether the application of AI-based techniques can lead to improved diagnostic accuracy of melanoma. Methods: A systematic search was conducted via the Medline/PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase databases for eligible publications between 2018 and 2022. Screening methods adhered to the 2020 version of the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. Included studies utilized AI-based algorithms for melanoma detection and directly addressed the review objectives. Results: We retrieved 40 papers amongst the three databases. All studies directly comparing the performance of AI-based techniques with dermatologists reported the superior or equivalent performance of AI-based techniques in improving the detection of melanoma. In studies directly comparing algorithm performance on dermoscopy images to dermatologists, AI-based algorithms achieved a higher ROC (>80%) in the detection of melanoma. In these comparative studies using dermoscopic images, the mean algorithm sensitivity was 83.01% and the mean algorithm specificity was 85.58%. Studies evaluating machine learning in conjunction with OCT boasted accuracy of 95%, while studies evaluating RCM reported a mean accuracy rate of 82.72%. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate the robust potential of AI-based techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes through the early identification of melanoma. The identification of trolley codes poses a challenge in engineering, as there are often situations where the accuracy requirements for their detection cannot be met. YOLOv7, being the state-of-the-art target detection method, demonstrates significant efficacy in addressing the challenge of trolley coding recognition. Due to the substantial dimensions of the model and the presence of numerous redundant parameters, the deployment of small terminals in practical applications is constrained. This paper presents a real-time approach for identifying trolley codes using a YOLOv7 deep learning algorithm that incorporates channel pruning. Initially, a YOLOv7 model is constructed, followed by the application of a channel pruning algorithm to streamline its complexity. Subsequently, the model undergoes fine-tuning to optimize its performance in terms of both speed and accuracy. The experimental findings demonstrated that the proposed model exhibited a reduction of 32.92% in the number of parameters compared to the pre-pruned model. Additionally, it was observed that the proposed model was 24.82 MB smaller in size. Despite these reductions, the mean average precision (mAP) of the proposed model was only 0.03% lower, reaching an impressive value of 99.24%. We conducted a comparative analysis of the proposed method against five deep learning algorithms, namely YOLOv5x, YOLOv4, YOLOv5m, YOLOv5s, and YOLOv5n, in order to assess its effectiveness. In contrast, the proposed method considers the speed of detection while simultaneously ensuring a high mean average precision (mAP) value in the detection of trolley codes. In the era of deep learning, representational text-matching algorithms based on BERT and its variant models have become mainstream and are limited by the sentence vectors generated by the BERT model, and the SimCSE algorithm proposed in 2021 has improved the sentence vector quality to a certain extent. In this paper, to address the problem that the SimCSE algorithm has—that the greater the difference in sentence length, the smaller the probability that the sentence pairs are similar—an EdaCSE algorithm is proposed to perturb the sentence length using a simple data enhancement method without affecting the semantics of the sentences. The perturbation is applied to the sentence length by adding meaningless English punctuation marks to the original sentence so that the model no longer tends to recognise sentences of similar length as similar sentences. Based on the BERT series of models, experiments were conducted on five different datasets, and the experiments proved that the EdaCSE method improves an average of 1.67, 0.84, and 1.08 on the five datasets. The difficulty of collecting fault data samples is one of the application problems of the deep learning method in fault diagnosis of mechanical production; the second is that when the depth of the learning network increases, the network accuracy is saturated or even decreased. Therefore, based on the deep learning algorithm and the DenseNet model, this paper establishes a fault diagnosis model for the beam pumping unit through the transfer learning method. The model uses the global pooling layer as the classifier. The model is used to classify and test various working conditions such as wax deposition, pump leakage, insufficient liquid supply, and pump leakage in oil wells. The results show that the model can obtain a classification model with high accuracy by learning a limited number of sample data; in the case of uneven data samples, the model can also basically complete the task classification task accurately. With the gradual popularization of autonomous driving technology, how to obtain traffic sign information efficiently and accurately is very important for subsequent decision-making and planning tasks. Traffic sign detection and recognition (TSDR) algorithms include color-based, shape-based, and machine learning based. However, the algorithms mentioned above are insufficient for traffic sign detection tasks in complex environments. In this paper, we propose a traffic sign detection and recognition paradigm based on deep learning algorithms. First, to solve the problem of insufficient spatial information in high-level features of small traffic signs, the parallel deformable convolution module (PDCM) is proposed in this paper. PDCM adaptively acquires the corresponding receptive field preserving the integrity of the abstract information through symmetrical branches thereby improving the feature extraction capability. Simultaneously, we propose sub-pixel convolution attention module (SCAM) based on the attention mechanism to alleviate the influence of scale distribution. Distinguishing itself from other feature fusion, our proposed method can better focus on the information of scale distribution through the attention module. Eventually, we introduce GSConv to further reduce the computational complexity of our proposed algorithm, better satisfying industrial application. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed methods can effectively improve performance, both in detection accuracy and mAP@0.5. To improve the accuracy of the You Only Look Once v5s (YOLOv5s) algorithm for object detection, this paper proposes an improved YOLOv5s algorithm, CBAM-YOLOv5s, which introduces an attention mechanism. A convolutional block attention module (CBAM) is incorporated into the YOLOv5s backbone network to improve its feature extraction ability. Furthermore, the complete intersection-over-union (CIoU) loss is used as the object bounding-box regression loss function to accelerate the speed of the regression process. Experiments are carried out on the Pascal Visual Object Classes 2007 (VOC2007) dataset and the Microsoft Common Objects in Context (COCO2014) dataset, which are widely used for object detection evaluations. On the VOC2007 dataset, the experimental results show that compared with those of the original YOLOv5s algorithm, the precision, recall and mean average precision (mAP) of the CBAM-YOLOv5s algorithm are improved by 4.52%, 1.18% and 3.09%, respectively. On the COCO2014 dataset, compared with the original YOLOv5s algorithm, the precision, recall and mAP of the CBAM-YOLOv5s algorithm are increased by 2.21%, 0.88% and 1.39%, respectively. Data-driven algorithms have proven to be effective for a variety of medical tasks, including disease categorization and prediction, personalized medicine design, and imaging diagnostics. Image matting methods based on deep learning have made tremendous success. However, the success of previous image matting methods typically relies on a massive amount of pixel-level labeled data, which are time-consuming and costly to obtain. This paper first proposes a semi-supervised deep learning matting algorithm based on semantic consistency of trimaps (Tri-SSL), which uses trimaps to provide weakly supervised signals for the unlabeled data, to reduce the labeling cost. Tri-SSL is a single-stage semi-supervised algorithm that consists of a supervised branch and a weakly supervised branch that share the same network in one iteration during training. The supervised branch is consistent with standard supervised matting methods. In the weakly supervised branch, trimaps of different granularities are used as weakly supervised signals for unlabeled images, and the two trimaps are naturally perturbed samples. Orientation consistency constraints are imposed on the prediction results of trimaps of different granuliarty and the intermediate features of the network. This study explores the application of Deep Learning techniques in assisting tumor grading using Magnetic Resonance Images (MRIs). By analyzing a glioma database sourced from multiple public datasets and comparing different settings, the aim of this study is to develop a robust and reliable grading system. The study demonstrates that by focusing on the tumor region of interest and augmenting the available data, there is a significant improvement in both the accuracy and confidence of tumor grade classifications. While successful in differentiating low-grade gliomas from high-grade gliomas, the accurate classification of grades 2, 3, and 4 remains challenging. The research findings have significant implications for advancing the development of a non-invasive, robust, and trustworthy data-driven system to support clinicians in the diagnosis and therapy planning of glioma patients. Glioma is the most common type of tumor in humans originating in the brain. According to the World Health Organization, gliomas can be graded on a four-stage scale, ranging from the most benign to the most malignant. The grading of these tumors from image information is a far from trivial task for radiologists and one in which they could be assisted by machine-learning-based decision support. However, the machine learning analytical pipeline is also fraught with perils stemming from different sources, such as inadvertent data leakage, adequacy of 2D image sampling, or classifier assessment biases. In this paper, we analyze a glioma database sourced from multiple datasets using a simple classifier, aiming to obtain a reliable tumor grading and, on the way, we provide a few guidelines to ensure such reliability. Our results reveal that by focusing on the tumor region of interest and using data augmentation techniques we significantly enhanced the accuracy and confidence in tumor classifications. Evaluation on an independent test set resulted in an AUC-ROC of 0.932 in the discrimination of low-grade gliomas from high-grade gliomas, and an AUC-ROC of 0.893 in the classification of grades 2, 3, and 4. In today's rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape with the advent of intelligent technologies, ensuring smooth equipment operation and fostering stable business growth rely heavily on accurate early fault detection and timely maintenance. Among various machine learning algorithms, the Backpropagation (BP) neural network is a commonly used model for fault detection. Modern smart grids are built based on top of advanced computing and networking technologies, where condition monitoring relies on secure cyberphysical connectivity. Over the network infrastructure, transported data containing confidential information, must be protected as smart grids are vulnerable and subject to various cyberattacks. Various machine learning based classifiers were proposed for intrusion detection in smart grids. However, each of them has respective advantage and disadvantages. Aiming to improve the performance of existing machine learning based classifiers, this paper proposes an adaptive deep learning algorithm with a data pre-processing module, a neural network pre-training module and a classifier module, which work together classify intrusion data types using their high-dimensional data features. The proposed Adaptive Deep Learning (ADL) algorithm obtains the number of layers and the number of neurons per layer by determining the characteristic dimension of the network traffic. With transfer learning, the proposed ADL algorithm can extract the original data dimensions and obtain new abstract features. By combining deep learning models with traditional machine learning-based classification models, the performance of classification of network traffic data is significantly improved. By using the Network Security Laboratory-Knowledge Discovery in Databases (NSL-KDD) dataset, experimental results show that the proposed ADL algorithm improves the effectiveness of existing intrusion detection methods and reduces the training time, indicating a promising candidate to enhance network security in smart grids. Thanks to the rapid development of Wearable Fitness Trackers (WFTs) and Smartphone Pedometer Apps (SPAs), people are keeping an eye on their health through fitness and heart rate tracking; therefore, home weight training exercises have received a lot of attention lately. A multi-procedure intelligent algorithm for weight training using two inertial measurement units (IMUs) is proposed in this paper. The first procedure is for motion tracking that estimates the arm orientation and calculates the positions of the wrist and elbow. The second procedure is for posture recognition based on deep learning, which identifies the type of exercise posture. The final procedure is for exercise prescription variables, which first infers the user's exercise state based on the results of the previous two procedures, triggers the corresponding event, and calculates the key indicators of the weight training exercise (exercise prescription variables), including exercise items, repetitions, sets, training capacity, workout capacity, training period, explosive power, etc.). This study integrates the hardware and software as a complete system. The developed smartphone App is able to receive heart rate data, to analyze the user's exercise state, and to calculate the exercise prescription variables automatically in real-time. The dashboard in the user interface of the smartphone App can display exercise information through Unity's Animation System (avatar) and graphics, and records are stored by the SQLite database. The designed system was proven by two types of experimental verification tests. The first type is to control a stepper motor to rotate the designed IMU and to compare the rotation angle obtained from the IMU with the rotation angle of the controlled stepper motor. The average mean absolute error of estimation for 31 repeated experiments is 1.485 degrees. The second type is to use Mediapipe Pose to calculate the position of the wrist and the angles of upper arm and forearm between the Z-axis, and these calculated data are compared with the designed system. The root-mean-square (RMS) error of positions of the wrist is 2.43 cm, and the RMS errors of two angles are 5.654 and 4.385 degrees for upper arm and forearm, respectively. For posture recognition, 12 participants were divided into training group and test group. Eighty percent and 20% of 24,963 samples of 10 participants were used for the training and validation of the LSTM model, respectively. Three-thousand-three-hundred-and-fifty-nine samples of two participants were used to evaluate the performance of the trained LSTM model. The accuracy reached 99%, and F1 score was 0.99. When compared with the other LSTM-based variants, the accuracy of one-layer LSTM presented in this paper is still promising. Intrusion detection systems (IDS) play a crucial role in securing networks and identifying malicious activity. This is a critical problem in cyber security. In recent years, metaheuristic optimization algorithms and deep learning techniques have been applied to IDS to improve their accuracy and efficiency. Generally, optimization algorithms can be used to boost the performance of IDS models. Deep learning methods, such as convolutional neural networks, have also been used to improve the ability of IDS to detect and classify intrusions. In this paper, we propose a new IDS model based on the combination of deep learning and optimization methods. First, a feature extraction method based on CNNs is developed. Then, a new feature selection method is used based on a modified version of Growth Optimizer (GO), called MGO. We use the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) to boost the search process of the GO. Extensive evaluation and comparisons have been conducted to assess the quality of the suggested method using public datasets of cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) environments. Glucose forecasting serves as a backbone for several healthcare applications, including real-time insulin dosing in people with diabetes and physical activity optimization. This paper presents a study on the use of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) methods for predicting glucose variability (GV) in individuals with open-source automated insulin delivery systems (AID). A three-stage experimental framework is employed in this work to systematically implement and evaluate ML/DL methods on a large-scale diabetes dataset collected from individuals with open-source AID. The first stage involves data collection, the second stage involves data preparation and exploratory analysis, and the third stage involves developing, fine-tuning, and evaluating ML/DL models. The performance and resource costs of the models are evaluated alongside relative and proportional errors for 17 GV metrics. Evaluation of fine-tuned ML/DL models shows considerable accuracy in glucose forecasting and variability analysis up to 48 h in advance. The average MAE ranges from 2.50 mg/dL for long short-term memory models (LSTM) to 4.94 mg/dL for autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) models, and the RMSE ranges from 3.7 mg/dL for LSTM to 7.67 mg/dL for ARIMA. Model execution time is proportional to the amount of data used for training, with long short-term memory models having the lowest execution time but the highest memory consumption compared to other models. Clustering algorithms are commonly used in the mining of static data. Some examples include data mining for relationships between variables and data segmentation into components. The use of a clustering algorithm for real-time data is much less common. This is due to a variety of factors, including the algorithm's high computation cost. In other words, the algorithm may be impractical for real-time or near-real-time implementation. Furthermore, clustering algorithms necessitate the tuning of hyperparameters in order to fit the dataset. In this paper, we approach clustering moving points using our proposed Adaptive Hierarchical Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (HDBSCAN) algorithm, which is an implementation of an adaptive approach to building the minimum spanning tree. We switch between the Boruvka and the Prim algorithms as a means to build the minimum spanning tree, which is one of the most expensive components of the HDBSCAN. The Adaptive HDBSCAN yields an improvement in execution time by 5.31% without depreciating the accuracy of the algorithm. The motivation for this research stems from the desire to cluster moving points on video. Cameras are used to monitor crowds and improve public safety. We can identify potential risks due to overcrowding and movements of groups of people by understanding the movements and flow of crowds. Surveillance equipment combined with deep learning algorithms can assist in addressing this issue by detecting people or objects, and the Adaptive HDBSCAN is used to cluster these items in real time to generate information about the clusters. Quality inspection in the industrial production field is experiencing a strong technological development that benefits from the combination of vision-based techniques with artificial intelligence algorithms. This paper initially addresses the problem of defect identification for circularly symmetric mechanical components, characterized by the presence of periodic elements. In the specific case of knurled washers, we compare the performances of a standard algorithm for the analysis of grey-scale image with a Deep Learning (DL) approach. The standard algorithm is based on the extraction of pseudo-signals derived from the conversion of the grey scale image of concentric annuli. In the DL approach, the component inspection is shifted from the entire sample to specific areas repeated along the object profile where the defect may occur. The standard algorithm provides better results in terms of accuracy and computational time with respect to the DL approach. Nevertheless, DL reaches accuracy higher than 99% when performance is evaluated targeting the identification of damaged teeth. Phishing detection with high-performance accuracy and low computational complexity has always been a topic of great interest. New technologies have been developed to improve the phishing detection rate and reduce computational constraints in recent years. However, one solution is insufficient to address all problems caused by attackers in cyberspace. Therefore, the primary objective of this paper is to analyze the performance of various deep learning algorithms in detecting phishing activities. This analysis will help organizations or individuals select and adopt the proper solution according to their technological needs and specific applications' requirements to fight against phishing attacks. In this regard, an empirical study was conducted using four different deep learning algorithms, including deep neural network (DNN), convolutional neural network (CNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and gated recurrent unit (GRU). To analyze the behaviors of these deep learning architectures, extensive experiments were carried out to examine the impact of parameter tuning on the performance accuracy of the deep learning models. In addition, various performance metrics were measured to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of DL models in detecting phishing activities. The results obtained from the experiments showed that no single DL algorithm achieved the best measures across all performance metrics. The two-phase flow in a microchannel consists of liquid–liquid and gas–liquid material components. The automatic recognition of flow patterns using deep learning approaches has been emerging. This study aimed to improve the recognition accuracy of flow patterns in the two-phase flow images. The different convolutional kernels in the GoogLeNet algorithm extracted the image features with different scales. In order to strengthen the important channel and spatial features, this paper proposes the combined five-layer Coord attention and GoogLeNet algorithm to enhance the accuracy of the new algorithm. The optimized algorithm model was derived from image datasets with different liquid–liquid two-phase flows (NaAlg–Oil, GaInSn–Water), and its accuracy was 95.09% in training and 98.12% in testing. This new model was also applied to predict the flow patterns, with a recognition accuracy of more than 97% in both the liquid–liquid and gas–liquid two-phase flows (water–soybean oil, water–lubricating oil, and argon–water). Indoor 3D positioning is useful in multistory buildings, such as shopping malls, libraries, and airports. This study focuses on indoor 3D positioning using wireless access points (AP) in an environment without adding additional hardware facilities in large-scale complex places. The integration of a deep learning algorithm into indoor 3D positioning is studied, and a 3D dynamic positioning model based on temporal fingerprints is proposed. In contrast to the traditional positioning models with a single input, the proposed method uses a sliding time window to build a temporal fingerprint chip as the input of the positioning model to provide abundant information for positioning. Temporal information can be used to distinguish locations with similar fingerprint vectors and to improve the accuracy and robustness of positioning. Moreover, deep learning has been applied for the automatic extraction of spatiotemporal features. A temporal convolutional network (TCN) feature extractor is proposed in this paper, which adopts a causal convolution mechanism, dilated convolution mechanism, and residual connection mechanism and is not limited by the size of the convolution kernel. It is capable of learning hidden information and spatiotemporal relationships from the input features and the extracted spatiotemporal features are connected with a deep neural network (DNN) regressor to fit the complex nonlinear mapping relationship between the features and position coordinates to estimate the 3D position coordinates of the target. Finally, an open-source public dataset was used to verify the performance of the localization algorithm. Experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed positioning model and a comparison between the proposed model and existing models proved that the proposed model can provide more accurate three-dimensional position coordinates. Fires in university laboratories often lead to serious casualties and property damage, and traditional sensor-based fire detection techniques suffer from fire warning delays. Current deep learning algorithms based on convolutional neural networks have the advantages of high accuracy, low cost, and high speeds in processing image-based data, but their ability to process the relationship between visual elements and objects is inferior to Transformer. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved YOLOX target detection algorithm combining Swin Transformer architecture, the CBAM attention mechanism, and a Slim Neck structure applied to flame smoke detection in laboratory fires. The experimental results verify that the improved YOLOX algorithm has higher detection accuracy and more accurate position recognition for flame smoke in complex situations, with APs of 92.78% and 92.46% for flame and smoke, respectively, and an mAP value of 92.26%, compared with the original YOLOX algorithm, SSD, Faster R-CNN, YOLOv4, and YOLOv5. Medical image semantic segmentation is essential in computer-aided diagnosis systems. It can separate tissues and lesions in the image and provide valuable information to radiologists and doctors. The breast ultrasound (BUS) images have advantages: no radiation, low cost, portable, etc. However, there are two unfavorable characteristics: (1) the dataset size is often small due to the difficulty in obtaining the ground truths, and (2) BUS images are usually in poor quality. Trustworthy BUS image segmentation is urgent in breast cancer computer-aided diagnosis systems, especially for fully understanding the BUS images and segmenting the breast anatomy, which supports breast cancer risk assessment. The main challenge for this task is uncertainty in both pixels and channels of the BUS images. In this paper, we propose a Spatial and Channel-wise Fuzzy Uncertainty Reduction Network (SCFURNet) for BUS image semantic segmentation. The proposed architecture can reduce the uncertainty in the original segmentation frameworks. We apply the proposed method to four datasets: (1) a five-category BUS image dataset with 325 images, and (2) three BUS image datasets with only tumor category (1830 images in total). The proposed approach compares state-of-the-art methods such as U-Net with VGG-16, ResNet-50/ResNet-101, Deeplab, FCN-8s, PSPNet, U-Net with information extension, attention U-Net, and U-Net with the self-attention mechanism. It achieves 2.03%, 1.84%, and 2.88% improvements in the Jaccard index on three public BUS datasets, and 6.72% improvement in the tumor category and 4.32% improvement in the overall performance on the five-category dataset compared with that of the original U-shape network with ResNet-101 since it can handle the uncertainty effectively and efficiently.
