Delay-sensitive task offloading in a device-to-device assisted mobile edge computing (D2D-MEC) system with energy harvesting devices is a critical challenge due to the dynamic load level at edge nodes and the variability in harvested energy. In this paper, we propose a joint dynamic task offloading and CPU frequency control scheme for delay-sensitive tasks in a D2D-MEC system, taking into account the intricacies of multi-slot tasks, characterized by diverse processing speeds and data transmission rates. Our methodology involves meticulous modeling of task arrival and service processes using queuing systems, coupled with the strategic utilization of D2D communication to alleviate edge server load and prevent network congestion effectively. Central to our solution is the formulation of average task delay optimization as a challenging nonlinear integer programming problem, requiring intelligent decision making regarding task offloading for each generated task at active mobile devices and CPU frequency adjustments at discrete time slots. To navigate the intricate landscape of the extensive discrete action space, we design an efficient multi-agent DRL learning algorithm named MAOC, which is based on MAPPO, to minimize the average task delay by dynamically determining task-offloading decisions and CPU frequencies. MAOC operates within a centralized training with decentralized execution (CTDE) framework, empowering individual mobile devices to make decisions autonomously based on their unique system states. Deepfakes are digital audio, video, or images manipulated using machine learning algorithms. These manipulated media files can convincingly depict individuals doing or saying things they never actually did. Deepfakes pose significant risks to our lives, including national security, financial markets, and personal privacy. The ability to create convincing deep fakes can also harm individuals' reputations and can be used to spread disinformation and fake news. As such, there is a growing need for reliable and accurate methods to detect deep fakes and prevent their harmful effects. In this paper, a hybrid convolutional neural network (CNN) and recurrent neural network (RNN) with a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is utilized to demonstrate a deep learning strategy for detecting deepfake videos. High accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and F1 score were attained by the proposed approach when tested on two publicly available datasets: Celeb-DF and the Deepfake Detection Challenge Dataset (DFDC). Specifically, the proposed method achieved an average accuracy of 97.26% on Celeb-DF and an average accuracy of 94.2% on DFDC. The results were compared to other state-of-the-art methods and showed that the proposed method outperformed many. In the epoch characterized by the anticipation of autonomous vehicles, the quality of the embedded system software, its reliability, safety, and security is significant. The testing of embedded software is an increasingly significant element of the development process. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in the process of testing embedded software in vehicles constitutes a significant area of both research and practical consideration, arising from the escalating complexity of these systems. This paper presents the preliminary development of the AVESYS framework which facilitates the application of open-source artificial intelligence algorithms in the embedded system testing process. The aim of this work is to evaluate its effectiveness in identifying anomalies in the test environment that could potentially affect testing results. The raw data from the test environment, mainly communication signals and readings from temperature, as well as current and voltage sensors are pre-processed and used to train machine learning models. Non-side-looking airborne radar provides important applications on account of its all-round multi-angle airspace coverage. However, it suffers clutter range dependence that makes the samples fail to satisfy the condition of being independent and identically distributed (IID), and it severely degrades traditional approaches to clutter suppression and target detection. In this paper, a novel reweighted extreme learning machine (ELM)-based clutter suppression and range compensation algorithm is proposed for non-side-looking airborne radar. The proposed method involves first designing the pre-processing stage, the special reweighted complex-valued activation function containing an unknown range compensation matrix, and two new objective outputs for constructing an initial reweighted ELM-based network with its training. Then, two other objective outputs, a new loss function, and a reverse feedback framework driven by the specifically designed objectives are proposed for the unknown range compensation matrix. Finally, aiming to estimate and reconstruct the unknown compensation matrix, special processes of the complex-valued structures and the theoretical derivations are designed and analyzed in detail. Consequently, with the updated and compensated samples, further processing including space–time adaptive processing (STAP) can be performed for clutter suppression and target detection. Compared with the classic relevant methods, the proposed algorithm achieves significantly superior performance with reasonable computation time. When performing classification tasks on high-dimensional data, traditional machine learning algorithms often fail to filter out valid information in the features adequately, leading to low levels of classification accuracy. Therefore, this paper explores the high-dimensional data from both the data feature dimension and the model ensemble dimension. We propose a high-dimensional ensemble learning classification algorithm focusing on feature space reconstruction and classifier ensemble, called the HDELC algorithm. First, the algorithm considers feature space reconstruction and then generates a feature space reconstruction matrix. It effectively achieves feature selection and reconstruction for high-dimensional data. An optimal feature space is generated for the subsequent ensemble of the classifier, which enhances the representativeness of the feature space. Second, we recursively determine the number of classifiers and the number of feature subspaces in the ensemble model. Different classifiers in the ensemble system are assigned mutually exclusive non-intersecting feature subspaces for model training. The experimental results show that the HDELC algorithm has advantages compared with most high-dimensional datasets due to its more efficient feature space ensemble capability and relatively reliable ensemble operation performance. Researchers have explored various methods to fully exploit the all-weather characteristics of Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images to achieve high-precision, real-time, computationally efficient, and easily deployable ship target detection models. These methods include Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) algorithms and deep learning approaches such as RCNN, YOLO, and SSD, among others. While these methods outperform traditional algorithms in SAR ship detection, challenges still exist in handling the arbitrary ship distributions and small target features in SAR remote sensing images. Existing models are complex, with a large number of parameters, hindering effective deployment. This paper introduces a YOLOv7 oriented bounding box SAR ship detection model (YOLOv7oSAR). The model employs a rotation box detection mechanism, uses the KLD loss function to enhance accuracy, and introduces a Bi-former attention mechanism to improve small target detection. By redesigning the network's width and depth and incorporating a lightweight P-ELAN structure, the model effectively reduces its size and computational requirements. The proposed model achieves high-precision detection results on the public RSDD dataset (94.8% offshore, 66.6% nearshore), and its generalization ability is validated on a custom dataset (94.2% overall detection accuracy). Deep learning, which is a dominating technique in artificial intelligence, has completely changed image understanding over the past decade. As a consequence, the sea ice extraction (SIE) problem has reached a new era. We present a comprehensive review of four important aspects of SIE, including algorithms, datasets, applications and future trends. Our review focuses on research published from 2016 to the present, with a specific focus on deep-learning-based approaches in the last five years. We divided all related algorithms into three categories, including the conventional image classification approach, the machine learning-based approach and deep-learning-based methods. We reviewed the accessible ice datasets including SAR-based datasets, the optical-based datasets and others. The applications are presented in four aspects including climate research, navigation, geographic information systems (GIS) production and others. Simple Summary: Diagnosis of posterior fossa tumors is challenging yet proper classification is imperative given that treatment decisions diverge based on tumor type. The aim of this systematic review is to summarize the current state of machine learning methods developed as diagnostic tools for these pediatric brain tumors. We found that, while individual algorithms were quite efficacious, the field is limited by its heterogeneity in methods, outcome reporting, and study populations. We identify common limitations in the study and development of these algorithms and make recommendations as to how they can be overcome. If incorporated into algorithm design, the practical guidelines outlined in this review could help to bridge the gap between theoretical algorithm diagnostic testing and practical clinical application for a wide variety of pathologies. Background: Posterior fossa tumors (PFTs) are a morbid group of central nervous system tumors that most often present in childhood. While early diagnosis is critical to drive appropriate treatment, definitive diagnosis is currently only achievable through invasive tissue collection and histopathological analyses. Machine learning has been investigated as an alternative means of diagnosis. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we evaluated the primary literature to identify all machine learning algorithms developed to classify and diagnose pediatric PFTs using imaging or molecular data. Methods: Of the 433 primary papers identified in PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science, 25 ultimately met the inclusion criteria. The included papers were extracted for algorithm architecture, study parameters, performance, strengths, and limitations. Results: The algorithms exhibited variable performance based on sample size, classifier(s) used, and individual tumor types being investigated. Ependymoma, medulloblastoma, and pilocytic astrocytoma were the most studied tumors with algorithm accuracies ranging from 37.5% to 94.5%. A minority of studies compared the developed algorithm to a trained neuroradiologist, with three imaging-based algorithms yielding superior performance. Common algorithm and study limitations included small sample sizes, uneven representation of individual tumor types, inconsistent performance reporting, and a lack of application in the clinical environment. Conclusions: Artificial intelligence has the potential to improve the speed and accuracy of diagnosis in this field if the right algorithm is applied to the right scenario. Simple Summary: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common cancer in men worldwide. Screening and diagnosis are based on prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood testing and digital rectal examination. Nevertheless, these methods are not specific and have a high risk of mistaken results. This has led to overtreatment and unnecessary radical therapy; thus, better prognostic tools are urgently needed. In this view, microRNAs (miRs) appear as potential non-invasive biomarkers for PCa diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy. As the scientific literature available in this field is huge and very often controversial, we identified and discussed three topics that characterize the investigated research area by combining the big data from the literature together with a novel machine learning approach. By analyzing the papers clustered into these topics we have offered a deeper understanding of the current research, which helps to contribute to the advancement of this research field. Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men. Although the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test is used in clinical practice for screening and/or early detection of PCa, it is not specific, thus resulting in high false-positive rates. MicroRNAs (miRs) provide an opportunity as biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and recurrence of PCa. Because the size of the literature on it is increasing and often controversial, this study aims to consolidate the state-of-art of relevant published research. Methods: A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was applied to analyze a set of 213 scientific publications through a text mining method that makes use of the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) algorithm. Results and Conclusions: The result of this activity, performed through the MySLR digital platform, allowed us to identify a set of three relevant topics characterizing the investigated research area. We analyzed and discussed all the papers clustered into them. We highlighted that several miRs are associated with PCa progression, and that their detection in patients' urine seems to be the more reliable and promising non-invasive tool for PCa diagnosis. A Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) is a network system that enables service for areas where terrestrial networks cannot cover. An NTN provides communication services using flying objects such as UAVs, HAPs, and satellites. In the case of satellites, they move in Earth's orbit at a constant speed. Ground services from continuously moving satellites cause frequent handovers. In addition, frequent handovers may come as a load between User Equipment (UE) and the communication system, which leads to degradation of service quality. Unlike Terrestrial Networks (TN), communication services are provided to UEs at altitudes ranging from 20 km to 35,584 km, rather than from base stations close to the ground. Service at high altitudes is unreliable due to the measurement values that were previously used as quality indicators to operate terrestrial networks. Moreover, service at high altitudes demands long-distance communication, and propagation delay occurs from the long-distance communication. In the 3GPP Rel. 17 document, it is suggested that the above problems should be solved. This paper tries to solve the problem by proposing the two-step XGBOOST, a CART-based Gradient Boosting Model. Handover in TN uses measurement-based conditional handover (CHO), but the measured values in the NTN environment are not valid. Using this, the distance between the UE and the center of the cell and the elevation angle are used to construct a model that predicts the HO triggering time point. In order to overcome the propagation delay caused by communication at a high altitude, a model that predicts the distance and elevation angle between the UE and the center of the cell considering the propagation delay is proposed. The model is composed of two-step XGBOOST. The one-step model is a model in which the UE predicts the distance and elevation angle between cell centers after propagation delay at the time when satellite position information is transmitted to the UE. The two-step model predicts handover triggering occurrence based on the data predicted by the one-step result. As a result of the experiment, the model considering the propagation delay showed about 8% better performance on average than the model not considering the propagation delay, and the XGBOOST model achieved an average F1-score of 0.9891 in the propagation delay experiments. Extracting effective features from high-dimensional datasets is crucial for determining the accuracy of regression and classification models. Model predictions based on causality are known for their robustness. Thus, this paper introduces causality into feature selection and utilizes Feature Selection based on NOTEARS causal discovery (FSNT) for effective feature extraction. This method transforms the structural learning algorithm into a numerical optimization problem, enabling the rapid identification of the globally optimal causality diagram between features and the target variable. To assess the effectiveness of the FSNT algorithm, this paper evaluates its performance by employing 10 regression algorithms and 8 classification algorithms for regression and classification predictions on six real datasets from diverse fields. These results are then compared with three mainstream feature selection algorithms. The results indicate a significant average decline of 54.02% in regression prediction achieved by the FSNT algorithm. Furthermore, the algorithm exhibits exceptional performance in classification prediction, leading to an enhancement in the precision value. This study examines the research climate on machine learning applications in renewable energy (MLARE). Therefore, the publication trends (PT) and bibliometric analysis (BA) on MLARE research published and indexed in the Elsevier Scopus database between 2012 and 2021 were examined. The PT was adopted to deduce the major stakeholders, top-cited publications, and funding organizations on MLARE, whereas BA elucidated critical insights into the research landscape, scientific developments, and technological growth. The PT revealed 1218 published documents comprising 46.9% articles, 39.7% conference papers, and 6.0% reviews on the topic. Subject area analysis revealed MLARE research spans the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among others, which indicates it is a broad, multidisciplinary, and impactful research topic. The most prolific researcher, affiliations, country, and funder are Ravinesh C. Deo, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, United States, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, respectively. The most prominent journals on the top are Applied Energy and Energies, which indicates that journal reputation and open access are critical considerations for the author's choice of publication outlet. The high productivity of the major stakeholders in MLARE is due to collaborations and research funding support. The keyword co-occurrence analysis identified four (4) clusters or thematic areas on MLARE, which broadly describe the systems, technologies, tools/technologies, and socio-technical dynamics of MLARE research. Database and data structure research can improve machine learning performance in many ways. One way is to design better algorithms on data structures. This paper combines the use of incremental computation as well as sequential and probabilistic filtering to enable "forgetful" tree-based learning algorithms to cope with streaming data that suffers from concept drift. (Concept drift occurs when the functional mapping from input to classification changes over time). The forgetful algorithms described in this paper achieve high performance while maintaining high quality predictions on streaming data. Specifically, the algorithms are up to 24 times faster than state-of-the-art incremental algorithms with, at most, a 2% loss of accuracy, or are at least twice faster without any loss of accuracy. The Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is an important tool to mitigate cybersecurity threats in an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure. The function of the IDS is to detect an intrusion to an ICT system or network so that adequate countermeasures can be adopted. Desirable features of IDS are computing efficiency and high intrusion detection accuracy. This paper proposes a new anomaly detection algorithm for IDS, where a machine learning algorithm is applied to detect deviations from legitimate traffic, which may indicate an intrusion. To improve computing efficiency, a sliding window approach is applied where the analysis is applied on large sequences of network flows statistics. This paper proposes a novel approach based on the transformation of the network flows statistics to gray images on which Gray level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) are applied together with an entropy measure recently proposed in literature: the 2D Dispersion Entropy. This approach is applied to the recently public IDS data set CIC-IDS2017. The results show that the proposed approach is competitive in comparison to other approaches proposed in literature on the same data set. The advancement of machine learning in industrial applications has necessitated the development of tailored solutions to address specific challenges, particularly in multi-class classification tasks. This study delves into the customization of loss functions within the eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm, which is a critical step in enhancing the algorithm's performance for specific applications. Our research is motivated by the need for precision and efficiency in the industrial domain, where the implications of misclassification can be substantial. We focus on the drill-wear analysis of melamine-faced chipboard, a common material in furniture production, to demonstrate the impact of custom loss functions. The paper explores several variants of Weighted Softmax Loss Functions, including Edge Penalty and Adaptive Weighted Softmax Loss, to address the challenges of class imbalance and the heightened importance of accurately classifying edge classes. Our findings reveal that these custom loss functions significantly reduce critical errors in classification without compromising the overall accuracy of the model. Population-based metaheuristics can be seen as a set of agents that smartly explore the space of solutions of a given optimization problem. These agents are commonly governed by movement operators that decide how the exploration is driven. Although metaheuristics have successfully been used for more than 20 years, performing rapid and high-quality parameter control is still a main concern. For instance, deciding the proper population size yielding a good balance between quality of results and computing time is constantly a hard task, even more so in the presence of an unexplored optimization problem. In this paper, we propose a self-adaptive strategy based on the on-line population balance, which aims for improvements in the performance and search process on population-based algorithms. The design behind the proposed approach relies on three different components. Firstly, an optimization-based component which defines all metaheuristic tasks related to carry out the resolution of the optimization problems. Secondly, a learning-based component focused on transforming dynamic data into knowledge in order to influence the search in the solution space. Thirdly, a probabilistic-based selector component is designed to dynamically adjust the population. We illustrate an extensive experimental process on large instance sets from three well-known discrete optimization problems: Manufacturing Cell Design Problem, Set covering Problem, and Multidimensional Knapsack Problem. The proposed approach is able to compete against classic, autonomous, as well as IRace-tuned metaheuristics, yielding interesting results and potential future work regarding dynamically adjusting the number of solutions interacting on different times within the search process. Ship fire may result in significant damage to its structure and large economic loss. Hence, the prompt identification of fires is essential in order to provide prompt reactions and effective mitigation strategies. However, conventional detection systems exhibit limited efficacy and accuracy in detecting targets, which has been mostly attributed to limitations imposed by distance constraints and the motion of ships. Although the development of deep learning algorithms provides a potential solution, the computational complexity of ship fire detection algorithm pose significant challenges. To solve this, this paper proposes a lightweight ship fire detection algorithm based on YOLOv8n. Initially, a dataset, including more than 4000 unduplicated images and their labels, is established before training. In order to ensure the performance of algorithms, both fire inside ship rooms and also fire on board are considered. Then after tests, YOLOv8n is selected as the model with the best performance and fastest speed from among several advanced object detection algorithms. GhostnetV2-C2F is then inserted in the backbone of the algorithm for long-range attention with inexpensive operation. In addition, spatial and channel reconstruction convolution (SCConv) is used to reduce redundant features with significantly lower complexity and computational costs for real-time ship fire detection. For the neck part, omni-dimensional dynamic convolution is used for the multi-dimensional attention mechanism, which also lowers the parameters. After these improvements, a lighter and more accurate YOLOv8n algorithm, called Ship-Fire Net, was proposed. The proposed method exceeds 0.93, both in precision and recall for fire and smoke detection in ships. In addition, the mAP@0.5 reaches about 0.9. Despite the improvement in accuracy, Ship-Fire Net also has fewer parameters and lower FLOPs compared to the original, which accelerates its detection speed. In this paper, a fractional-order control method based on the twin-delayed deep deterministic policy gradient (TD3) algorithm in reinforcement learning is proposed. A fractional-order disturbance observer is designed to estimate the disturbances, and the radial basis function network is selected to approximate system uncertainties in the system. Then, a fractional-order sliding-mode controller is constructed to control the system, and the parameters of the controller are tuned using the TD3 algorithm, which can optimize the control effect. The results show that the fractional-order control method based on the TD3 algorithm can not only improve the closed-loop system performance under different operating conditions but also enhance the signal tracking capability. In the era of big data, unsupervised learning algorithms such as clustering are particularly prominent. In recent years, there have been significant advancements in clustering algorithm research. The Clustering by Density Peaks algorithm is known as Clustering by Fast Search and Find of Density Peaks (density peak clustering). This clustering algorithm, proposed in Science in 2014, automatically finds cluster centers. It is simple, efficient, does not require iterative computation, and is suitable for large-scale and high-dimensional data. However, DPC and most of its refinements have several drawbacks. The method primarily considers the overall structure of the data, often resulting in the oversight of many clusters. The choice of truncation distance affects the calculation of local density values, and varying dataset sizes may necessitate different computational methods, impacting the quality of clustering results. In addition, the initial assignment of labels can cause a 'chain reaction', i.e., if one data point is incorrectly labeled, it may lead to more subsequent data points being incorrectly labeled. In this paper, we propose an improved density peak clustering method, DPC-MS, which uses the mean-shift algorithm to find local density extremes, making the accuracy of the algorithm independent of the parameter dc. After finding the local density extreme points, the allocation strategy of the DPC algorithm is employed to assign the remaining points to appropriate local density extreme points, forming the final clusters. The robustness of this method in handling uncertain dataset sizes adds some application value, and several experiments were conducted on synthetic and real datasets to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. High-precision images enable electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) to obtain more reliable measurement results, meaning that the reconstruction algorithm is particularly important. Some excellent numerical algorithms have successfully solved the inverse problem for ECT imaging, but their imaging quality is relatively low. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new reconstruction algorithm based on regularized extreme learning machines (RELMs). The implementation of the algorithm is mainly divided into two steps: (1) according to a large number of training samples, the RELM model can be obtained by the iterative split Bregman (ISB) algorithm, which can describe the mapping relationship between the capacitance correlation coefficient and the imaging target well, and (2) the capacitance correlation coefficient is calculated, which is then used as input to the RELM model to predict the final imaging. Both simulation and experimental results show that the RELM algorithm achieves greater improvement in imaging quality and robustness, and provides new development ideas for the ECT. Pressure measurement is of great importance due to its wide range of applications in many fields. AT-cut quartz, with its exceptional precision and durability, stands out as an excellent pressure transducer due to its superior accuracy and stable performance over time. However, its intrinsic temperature dependence significantly hinders its potential application in varying temperature environments. Herein, three different learning algorithms (i.e., multivariate polynomial regression, multilayer perceptron networks, and support vector regression) are elaborated in detail and applied to establish the prediction models for compensating the temperature effect of the resonant pressure sensor, respectively. The AC-cut quartz, which is sensitive to temperature variations, is paired with the AT-cut quartz, providing the essential temperature information. The output frequencies derived from the AT-cut and AC-cut quartzes are selected as input data for these learning algorithms. Through experimental validation, all three methods are effective, and a remarkable improvement in accuracy can be achieved. Among the three methods, the MPR model has exceptionally high accuracy in predicting pressure. The calculated residual error over the temperature range of −10–40 °C is less than 0.008% of 40 MPa full scale (FS). An intelligent automatic compensation and real-time processing system for the resonant pressure sensor is developed as well, which may contribute to improving the efficiency in online calibration and large-scale industrialization. The slime mould algorithm (SMA) is a new swarm intelligence algorithm inspired by the oscillatory behavior of slime moulds during foraging. Numerous researchers have widely applied the SMA and its variants in various domains in the field and proved its value by conducting various literatures. In this paper, a comprehensive review of the SMA is introduced, which is based on 130 articles obtained from Google Scholar between 2022 and 2023. In this study, firstly, the SMA theory is described. Secondly, the improved SMA variants are provided and categorized according to the approach used to apply them. Finally, we also discuss the main applications domains of the SMA, such as engineering optimization, energy optimization, machine learning, network, scheduling optimization, and image segmentation. This review presents some research suggestions for researchers interested in this algorithm, such as conducting additional research on multi-objective and discrete SMAs and extending this to neural networks and extreme learning machining. Hybrid approaches combining machine learning with traditional inverse problem solution methods represent a promising direction for the further development of inverse modeling algorithms. The paper proposes an approach to emission source identification from measurement data for advection–diffusion–reaction models. The approach combines general-type source identification and post-processing refinement: first, emission source identification by measurement data is carried out by a sensitivity operator-based algorithm, and then refinement is done by incorporating a priori information about unknown sources. A general-type distributed emission source identified at the first stage is transformed into a localized source consisting of multiple point-wise sources. The second, refinement stage consists of two steps: point-wise source localization and emission rate estimation. Emission source localization is carried out using deep learning with convolutional neural networks. Training samples are generated using a sensitivity operator obtained at the source identification stage. The algorithm was tested in regional remote sensing emission source identification scenarios for the Lake Baikal region and was able to refine the emission source reconstruction results. This paper proposes a novel energy management approach (imitation-Q-learning) based on imitation learning (IL) and reinforcement learning (RL). The proposed approach reinforces a decision-making agent based on a modified Q-learning algorithm to mimic an expert demonstration to solve a microgrid (MG) energy management problem. Those demonstrations are derived from solving a set of linear programming (LP) problems. Consequently, the imitation-Q-learning algorithm learns by interacting with the MG simulator and imitating the LP demonstrations to make decisions in real time that minimize the MG energy costs without prior knowledge of uncertainties related to photovoltaic (PV) production, load consumption, and electricity prices. A real-scale MG at the Lille Catholic University in France was used as a case study to conduct experiments. The proposed approach was compared to the expert performances, which are the LP algorithm and the conventional Q-learning algorithm in different test scenarios. It was approximately 80 times faster than conventional Q-learning and achieved the same performance as LP. In order to test the robustness of the proposed approach, a PV inverter crush and load shedding were also simulated. Preliminary results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The rapid advancement of technology has led to the pervasive presence of electronic devices in our lives, enabling convenience and connectivity. Cryptography offers solutions, but vulnerabilities persist due to physical attacks like malware. This led to the emergence of Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs). PUFs leverage the inherent disorder in physical systems to generate unique responses to challenges. Strong PUFs, susceptible to modeling attacks, can be predicted by malicious parties using machine learning and algebraic techniques. Weak PUFs, with minimal challenges, face similar threats if built upon strong PUFs. Despite some weaknesses, PUFs serve as security components in various protocols. Modeling attacks' success depends on suitable models and machine learning algorithms. Logistic Regression and Random Forest Classifier are potent in this context. Deep learning techniques, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), exhibit promise, particularly in one-dimensional data scenarios. Experimental results indicate CNN's superiority, achieving precision, recall, and accuracy exceeding 90%, demonstrating its effectiveness in breaking PUF security. In the field of intelligent anti-jamming, deep reinforcement learning algorithms are regarded as key technical means. However, the learning process of deep reinforcement learning algorithms requires a stable learning environment to ensure its effectiveness. Moreover, the inherent limitations of deep reinforcement learning algorithms mean that they can only demonstrate excellent learning capabilities on specific tasks with constant parameters. When parameters change, they can only resample and relearn to converge. In a changing jamming environment, its stability and convergence speed may be challenged, thereby affecting its robustness and generalization capabilities. Aiming at the naive yet unique similarity characteristics of the communication anti-jamming problem, this paper designs a new Meta-PPO deep reinforcement learning algorithm that combines Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) and MAML meta-learning ideas. The proposed algorithm engrafts the principle of meta-learning used in the Model Agnostic Meta-Learning (MAML) model onto the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO)-based schemes, enabling the communication systems to harness its prior learned experiences acquired from previous anti-jamming tasks to facilitate and speed up its optimal decision-making process when faced with incoming jamming attacks with similar features. The capacitated dispersion problem, which is a variant of the maximum diversity problem, aims to determine a set of elements within a network. These elements could symbolize, for instance, facilities in a supply chain or transmission nodes in a telecommunication network. The capacity of each node might be influenced by a random Bernoulli component, thereby rendering the possibility of a node having zero capacity, which is contingent upon a black box mechanism that accounts for environmental variables. Finding all the roots of a nonlinear equation is an important and difficult task that arises naturally in numerous scientific and engineering applications. Sequential iterative algorithms frequently use a deflating strategy to compute all the roots of the nonlinear equation, as rounding errors have the potential to produce inaccurate results. On the other hand, simultaneous iterative parallel techniques require an accurate initial estimation of the roots to converge effectively. In this paper, we propose a new class of global neural network-based root-finding algorithms for locating real and complex polynomial roots, which exploits the ability of machine learning techniques to learn from data and make accurate predictions. The approximations computed by the neural network are used to initialize two efficient fractional Caputo-inverse simultaneous algorithms of convergence orders ς + 2 and 2 ς + 4 , respectively. The results of our numerical experiments on selected engineering applications show that the new inverse parallel fractional schemes have the potential to outperform other state-of-the-art nonlinear root-finding methods in terms of both accuracy and elapsed solution time. With the exponential growth of data, solving classification or regression tasks by mining time series data has become a research hotspot. Commonly used methods include machine learning, artificial neural networks, and so on. However, these methods only extract the continuous or discrete features of sequences, which have the drawbacks of low information utilization, poor robustness, and computational complexity. To solve these problems, this paper innovatively uses Wasserstein distance instead of Kullback–Leibler divergence and uses it to construct an autoencoder to learn discrete features of time series. Then, a hidden Markov model is used to learn the continuous features of the sequence. Finally, stacking is used to ensemble the two models to obtain the final model. This paper presents a novel development of a new machine learning-based control system for the Agoraphilic (free-space attraction) concept of navigating robots in unknown dynamic environments with a moving goal. Furthermore, this paper presents a new methodology to generate training and testing datasets to develop a machine learning-based module to improve the performances of Agoraphilic algorithms. The new algorithm presented in this paper utilises the free-space attraction (Agoraphilic) concept to safely navigate a mobile robot in a dynamically cluttered environment with a moving goal. The algorithm uses tracking and prediction strategies to estimate the position and velocity vectors of detected moving obstacles and the goal. This predictive methodology enables the algorithm to identify and incorporate potential future growing free-space passages towards the moving goal. This is supported by the new machine learning-based controller designed specifically to efficiently account for the high uncertainties inherent in the robot's operational environment with a moving goal at a reduced computational cost. An algorithm to improve the resolution of the frequency spectrum by detecting the number of complete cycles, removing any fractional components of the signal, signal discontinuities, and interpolating the signal for fault diagnostics of electrical machines using low-power data acquisition cards is proposed in this paper. Smart sensor-based low-power data acquisition and processing devices such as Arduino cards are becoming common due to the growing trend of the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computation, and other Industry 4.0 standards. For predictive maintenance, the fault representing frequencies at the incipient stage are very difficult to detect due to their small amplitude and the leakage of powerful frequency components into other parts of the spectrum. For this purpose, offline advanced signal processing techniques are used that cannot be performed in small signal processing devices due to the required computational time, complexity, and memory. Ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning systems often operate in a non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environment. NLOS propagation has become the main source of ultra-wideband indoor positioning errors. As such, how to identify and correct NLOS errors has become a key problem that must be solved in high-accuracy indoor positioning technology. This paper firstly describes the influence of the NLOS propagation path on localization accuracy and the generation method of ultra-wideband signals, and secondly classifies and analyzes the currently available algorithms for ultra-wideband non-line-of-sight (NLOS) identification and error suppression. For the identification of NLOS, the residual analysis judgement method, statistical feature class identification method, machine learning method and geometric feature judgement method are discussed. For the suppression of NLOS propagation errors, weighting-based methods, filtering-based methods, line-of-sight reconstruction algorithms, neural network algorithms, optimization methods with constraints, and path tracing methods are discussed. Constructional material deterioration and member damage can cause changes in the dynamic characteristics of bridge structures, and such changes can be tracked in the responses of passing vehicles via the vehicle-bridge interaction (VBI). Though data-driven methods have shown promising results in damage inspection for drive-by methods, there is still much room for improvement in their performance. Given this background, this paper proposes a novel time-domain signal processing algorithm for the raw vehicle acceleration data of data-driven drive-by inspection methods. To achieve the best data processing performance, an optimizing strategy is designed to automatically search for the optimal parameters, tuning the algorithm. The proposed method intentionally overcomes the difficulties in the application of drive-by methods, such as measurement noise, speed variance, and enormous data volumes. Meanwhile, the use of this method can greatly improve the accuracy and efficiency of Machine Learning (ML) models in vehicle-based damage detection. It consists of a filtering process to denoise the data, a pooling process to reduce data redundancy, and an optimizing procedure to maximize algorithm performance. A dataset is obtained to validate the proposed algorithm through laboratory experiments with a scale truck model and a steel beam. The results show that, compared to using raw data, the present algorithm can increase the average accuracy by 12.2–15.0%, and the average efficiency by 35.7–96.7% for different damaged cases and ML models. Additionally, the functions of filtering and pooling operations, the influence of window function parameters, as well as the performance of different sensor locations, are also investigated in the paper. In the 5G era, the amount of network data has grown explosively. A large number of new computation-intensive applications have created demand for edge computing in mobile networks. Traditional optimization methods are difficult to adapt to the dynamic wireless network environment because they solve the problem online, which is not suitable in edge computing scenarios. Therefore, in order to obtain a mobile network with better performance, we propose a network frame with a resource allocation algorithm based on power consumption, delay and user cooperation. This algorithm can quickly realize the optimization of a network to improve performance. Specifically, compared with heuristic algorithms, such as particle swarm optimization, ant colony algorithm, etc., commonly used to solve such problems, the algorithm proposed in this paper can reduce some aspects of network performance (including delay and user energy consumption) by about 10% in a network dominated by downlink tasks. Sentiment analysis is considered one of the significant trends of the recent few years. Due to the high importance and increasing use of social media and electronic services, the need for reviewing and enhancing the provided services has become crucial. Revising the user services is based mainly on sentiment analysis methodologies for analyzing users' polarities to different products and applications. Sentiment analysis for Arabic reviews is a major concern due to high morphological linguistics and complex polarity terms expressed in the reviews. In addition, the users can present their orientation towards a service or a product by using a hybrid or mix of polarity terms related to slang and standard terminologies. This paper provides a comprehensive review of recent sentiment analysis methods based on lexicon or machine learning (ML). The comparison provides a clear vision of the number of classes, the used dialect, the annotated algorithms, and their performance. The proposed methodology is based on cross-validation of Arabic data using a k-fold mechanism that splits the dataset into training and testing folds; subsequently, the data preprocessing is executed to clean sentiments from unwanted terms that can affect data analysis. A vectorization of the dataset is then applied using TF–IDF for counting word and polarity terms. Furthermore, a feature selection stage is processed using Pearson, Chi2, and Random Forest (RF) methods for mapping the compatibility between input and target features. This paper also proposed an algorithm called the forward fusion feature for sentiment analysis (FFF-SA) to provide a feature selection that applied different machine learning (ML) classification models for each chunk of k features and accumulative features on the Arabic dataset. Simple Summary: In radiotherapy treatment, organs at risk and target volumes are contoured by the clinicians to prepare a dosimetry plan. In retrospective data, these structures are not often standardised to universal names across the patients plans, which is required to enable data mining and analysis. In this paper, a new method was proposed and evaluated to automatically standardise radiotherapy structures names using machine learning algorithms. The proposed approach was deployed over a dataset with 1613 patients collected from Liverpool & Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centres, New South Wales, Australia. It was concluded that machine learning techniques can standardise the dosimetry plan structures, taking into consideration the integration of multiple modalities representing each structure during the training process. In progressing the use of big data in health systems, standardised nomenclature is required to enable data pooling and analyses. In many radiotherapy planning systems and their data archives, target volumes (TV) and organ-at-risk (OAR) structure nomenclature has not been standardised. Machine learning (ML) has been utilised to standardise volumes nomenclature in retrospective datasets. However, only subsets of the structures have been targeted. Within this paper, we proposed a new approach for standardising all the structures nomenclature by using multi-modal artificial neural networks. A cohort consisting of 1613 breast cancer patients treated with radiotherapy was identified from Liverpool & Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centres, NSW, Australia. Four types of volume characteristics were generated to represent each target and OAR volume: textual features, geometric features, dosimetry features, and imaging data. Five datasets were created from the original cohort, the first four represented different subsets of volumes and the last one represented the whole list of volumes. For each dataset, 15 sets of combinations of features were generated to investigate the effect of using different characteristics on the standardisation performance. The best model reported 99.416% classification accuracy over the hold-out sample when used to standardise all the nomenclatures in a breast cancer radiotherapy plan into 21 classes. Our results showed that ML based automation methods can be used for standardising naming conventions in a radiotherapy plan taking into consideration the inclusion of multiple modalities to better represent each volume. Gibbs ringing is an artefact that is inevitable in any imaging modality where the measurement is Fourier band-limited. It impacts the quality of the image by creating a ringing appearance around discontinuities. Many novel ways of suppressing the artefact have been proposed, including machine learning methods, but the quantitative comparisons of the results have frequently been lacking in rigour. In this paper, we examine image quality assessment metrics on three test images with different complexity. We determine six metrics which show promise for simultaneously assessing severity of Gibbs ringing and of other error such as blurring. We examined applying metrics to a region of interest around discontinuities in the image and use the metrics on the resulting region of interest. We demonstrate that the region of interest approach does not improve the performance of the metrics. Finally, we examine the effect of the error threshold parameter in two metrics. Monitoring a patient's vital signs is considered one of the most challenging problems in telehealth systems, especially when patients reside in remote locations. Companies now use IoT devices such as wearable devices to participate in telehealth systems. However, the steady adoption of wearables can result in a significant increase in the volume of data being collected and transmitted. As these devices run on limited battery power, they can run out of power quickly due to the high processing requirements of the device for data collection and transmission. Given the importance of medical data, it is imperative that all transmitted data adhere to strict integrity and availability requirements. Reducing the volume of healthcare data and the frequency of transmission can improve a device's battery life via an inference algorithm. Furthermore, this approach creates issues for improving transmission metrics related to accuracy and efficiency, which are traded-off against each other, with increasing accuracy reducing efficiency. This paper demonstrates that machine learning (ML) can be used to overcome the trade-off problem. The damped least-squares algorithm (DLSA) is used to enhance both metrics by taking fewer samples for transmission whilst maintaining accuracy. The algorithm is tested with a standard heart rate dataset to compare the metrics. The results showed that the DLSA provides the best performance, with an efficiency of 3.33 times for reduced sample data size and an accuracy of 95.6%, with similar accuracies observed in seven different sampling cases adopted for testing that demonstrate improved efficiency. Featured Application: The paper is about black-box attack methods and the generation of adversarial samples. The adversarial samples threaten the effectiveness of machine learning (ML) models and algorithms in many applications. In particular, black-box attack methods are quite close to actual scenarios. Research on black-box attack methods and the generation of adversarial samples is helpful to discover the defects of machine learning models. It can strengthen the robustness of machine learning algorithms models. Such methods require queries frequently, which are less efficient. This paper has made improvements in the initial generation and the search for the most effective adversarial examples. Besides, it is found that some indicators can be used to detect attacks, which is a new foundation compared with our previous studies. Firstly, the paper proposed an algorithm to generate initial adversarial samples with a smaller L2 norm; secondly, a combination between particle swarm optimization (PSO) and biased boundary adversarial attack (BBA) is proposed. In recent years, the consumption of social media content to keep up with global news and to verify its authenticity has become a considerable challenge. Social media enables us to easily access news anywhere, anytime, but it also gives rise to the spread of fake news, thereby delivering false information. This also has a negative impact on society. Therefore, it is necessary to determine whether or not news spreading over social media is real. This will allow for confusion among social media users to be avoided, and it is important in ensuring positive social development. This paper proposes a novel solution by detecting the authenticity of news through natural language processing techniques. Specifically, this paper proposes a novel scheme comprising three steps, namely, stance detection, author credibility verification, and machine learning-based classification, to verify the authenticity of news. In the last stage of the proposed pipeline, several machine learning techniques are applied, such as decision trees, random forest, logistic regression, and support vector machine (SVM) algorithms. For this study, the fake news dataset was taken from Kaggle. The experimental results show an accuracy of 93.15%, precision of 92.65%, recall of 95.71%, and F1-score of 94.15% for the support vector machine algorithm. In recent times, there has been considerable focus on harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) for medical image analysis and healthcare purposes. In this study, we introduce CADFU (Computer-Aided Diagnosis System for Foot Ulcers), a pioneering diabetic foot ulcer diagnosis system. The primary objective of CADFU is to detect and segment ulcers and similar chronic wounds in medical images. To achieve this, we employ two distinct algorithms. Firstly, DHuNeT, an innovative Dual-Phase Hyperactive UNet, is utilized for the segmentation task. Second, we used YOLOv8 for the task of detecting wounds. The DHuNeT autoencoder, employed for the wound segmentation task, is the paper's primary and most significant contribution. DHuNeT is the combination of sequentially stacking two UNet autoencoders. The hyperactive information transmission from the first UNet to the second UNet is the key idea of DHuNeT. The first UNet feeds the second UNet the features it has learned, and the two UNets combine their learned features to create new, more accurate, and effective features. We achieve good performance measures, especially in terms of the Dice co-efficient and precision, with segmentation scores of 85% and 92.6%, respectively. We obtain a mean average precision (mAP) of 86% in the detection task. As gas wells enter the middle and late stages of production, they will become low-yielding gas wells due to fluid loading and insufficient formation pressure. For many years, there has been a lack of effective dynamic monitoring methods for low-yielding gas wells, and it is difficult to determine the production of each phase in each production layer, which makes further development face great uncertainty and a lack of basis for measurement adjustment. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes an intelligent dynamic monitoring method suitable for low-yielding gas wells, which uses an ultrasonic Doppler logging instrument and machine learning algorithm as the core to obtain the output contribution of each production layer of the gas well. The intelligent dynamic monitoring method is based on the HGWO-SVR algorithm to predict the flow of each phase. The experimental data are selected for empirical analysis, and the effectiveness and accuracy of the method are verified. The rapid development in information technology makes it easier to collect vast numbers of data through the cloud, internet and other sources of information. Multiview clustering is a significant way for clustering multiview data that may come from multiple ways. The fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm for clustering (single-view) datasets was extended to process multiview datasets in the literature, called the multiview FCM (MV-FCM). However, most of the MV-FCM clustering algorithms and their extensions in the literature need prior information about the number of clusters and are also highly influenced by initializations. In this paper, we propose a novel MV-FCM clustering algorithm with an unsupervised learning framework, called the unsupervised MV-FCM (U-MV-FCM), such that it can search an optimal number of clusters during the iteration process of the algorithm without giving the number of clusters a priori. It is also free of initializations and parameter selection. We then use three synthetic and six benchmark datasets to make comparisons between the proposed U-MV-FCM and other existing algorithms and to highlight its practical implications. Facility Management is a multi-disciplinary task in which coordination is key to attaining success during the building life cycle and for which technology assumes an increasing role. This sector is demanding more available and accurate tools to optimize the management process, decrease the probability of failure, and reduce the time spent on anomaly analysis. So, the present paper presents work developed to improve access to building anomaly recognition and to predict the building degradation state in an automatized way. The methodology applied to achieve this goal started with a survey and digital data acquisition from a case study, followed by the automatized detection of building anomalies using supervised classification in Deep Learning; then, the early diagnosis of threatening conditions for building degradation took place using degradation curves based on data records and regression algorithms. The results drive this study a step forward toward obtaining advanced tools for Facility Management based in Artificial Intelligence, able to provide the most appropriate moment at which to intervene according to the cost-benefit. The present work provided better results on the harmonic mean of precision and recall when compared with previous studies of image classification for the construction sector. Moreover, the mathematical functions for the prediction of future degradation based on the data field for each construction system were presented and can be applied to the typologies of other buildings. In recent years, the utilization of dual-arm robots has gained substantial prominence across various industries owing to their collaborative operational capabilities. In order to achieve collision avoidance and facilitate cooperative task completion, efficient path planning plays a pivotal role. The high dimensionality associated with collaborative task execution in dual-arm robots renders existing path planning methods ineffective for conducting efficient exploration. This paper introduces a multi-agent path planning reinforcement learning algorithm that integrates an experience replay strategy, a shortest-path constraint, and the policy gradient method. To foster collaboration and avoid competition between the robot arms, the proposed approach incorporates a mechanism known as "reward cooperation, punishment competition" during the training process. Our algorithm demonstrates strong performance in the control of dual-arm robots and exhibits the potential to mitigate the challenge of reward sparsity encountered during the training process. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is validated through simulations and experiments, comparing the results with existing methods and showcasing its superiority in dual-arm robot path planning. Non-invasive skin imaging techniques allow for improved diagnostic accuracy; however, their use is often limited due to the need for skilled practitioners trained to interpret images in a standardized fashion. Recent innovations in artificial intelligence (AI)-based techniques for skin lesion image interpretation show potential for the use of AI in the early detection of melanoma. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the current state of AI-based techniques used in combination with non-invasive diagnostic imaging modalities including reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and dermoscopy. We also aimed to determine whether the application of AI-based techniques can lead to improved diagnostic accuracy of melanoma. Methods: A systematic search was conducted via the Medline/PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase databases for eligible publications between 2018 and 2022. Screening methods adhered to the 2020 version of the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. Included studies utilized AI-based algorithms for melanoma detection and directly addressed the review objectives. Results: We retrieved 40 papers amongst the three databases. All studies directly comparing the performance of AI-based techniques with dermatologists reported the superior or equivalent performance of AI-based techniques in improving the detection of melanoma. In studies directly comparing algorithm performance on dermoscopy images to dermatologists, AI-based algorithms achieved a higher ROC (>80%) in the detection of melanoma. In these comparative studies using dermoscopic images, the mean algorithm sensitivity was 83.01% and the mean algorithm specificity was 85.58%. Studies evaluating machine learning in conjunction with OCT boasted accuracy of 95%, while studies evaluating RCM reported a mean accuracy rate of 82.72%. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate the robust potential of AI-based techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes through the early identification of melanoma. Further studies are needed to assess the generalizability of these AI-based techniques across different populations and skin types, improve standardization in image processing, and further compare the performance of AI-based techniques with board-certified dermatologists to evaluate clinical applicability. Given that fingerprint localization methods can be effectively modeled as supervised learning problems, machine learning has been employed for indoor localization tasks based on fingerprint methods. However, it is often challenging for popular machine learning models to effectively capture the unstructured data features inherent in fingerprint data that are generated in diverse propagation environments. In this paper, we propose an indoor localization algorithm based on a high-order graph neural network (HoGNNLoc) to enhance the accuracy of indoor localization and improve localization stability in dynamic environments. The algorithm first designs an adjacency matrix based on the spatial relative locations of access points (APs) to obtain a graph structure; on this basis, a high-order graph neural network is constructed to extract and aggregate the features; finally, the designed fully connected network is used to achieve the regression prediction of the location of the target to be located. The experimental results on our self-built dataset show that the proposed algorithm achieves localization accuracy within 1.29 m at 80% of the cumulative distribution function (CDF) points. The improvements are 59.2%, 51.3%, 36.1%, and 22.7% compared to the K-nearest neighbors (KNN), deep neural network (DNN), simple graph convolutional network (SGC), and graph attention network (GAT). Moreover, even with a 30% reduction in fingerprint data, the proposed algorithm exhibits stable localization performance.
