Using mathematical programming with activity-based costing (ABC) and based on the theory of constraints (TOC), this study proposed a green production model for the traditional paper industry to achieve the purpose of energy saving and carbon emission reduction. The mathematical programming model presented in this paper considers (1) revenue of main products and byproducts, (2) unit-level, batch-level, and product-level activity costs in ABC, (3) labor cost with overtime available, (4) machine cost with capacity expansion, (5) saved electric power and steam costs by using the coal as the main fuel in conjunction with Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). This model also considers the constraint of the quantity of carbon equivalent of various gases that are allowed to be emitted from the mill paper-making process to conform to the environmental protection policy. A numerical example is used to demonstrate how to apply the model presented in this paper. Based on 208 city-level data in China, this paper empirically analyzes the impact of ESG rating on carbon emissions through the SDM spatial metrology model, identifies the direct and indirect consequences and spatial spillover effects of ESG rating on carbon emissions, and compares the regional heterogeneity and city-size heterogeneity of such impacts. This paper draws three conclusions: (1) Empirical evidence shows that the ESG rating performance of enterprises has a significant inhibition effect on carbon dioxide emissions. Specifically, when the ESG rating performance increases by 1%, carbon emissions will decrease by 0.076; among other control variables, the effect of FDI on carbon emission reduction is that when ESG score performance increases by 1%, carbon emission decreases by 0.022. (2) In the decomposition of the total effects, indirect effects and direct effects have the same impact on carbon emissions, and the total effect is −0.393. (3) The inhibition effect is more significant in the Eastern Region and in megacities, where the effect of −0.096 in the Eastern Region is more obvious than that of −0.078 at the national level, and the effect of carbon reduction in megacities is significantly greater than 0.013 in big cities. This suggests regional heterogeneity in regards to the role of ESG ratings in reducing CO2 emissions. This paper reveals the specific effects and internal logic of the impact of ESG performance on CO2 emissions, which has certain implications for various regions to further promote the construction of an ESG system, according to local conditions, and to encourage enterprises to focus on emission reduction and high-quality development. Urbanization confronts the dual challenges of water scarcity and environmental degradation, prompting the exploration of diverse water sources for mitigating these impacts. Inter-basin water transfer (IBWT) has emerged as a solution to balance urban water demand and supply in areas with local water shortages. While IBWT can deliver high-quality water over long distances, it is costly, often contributing significantly to carbon emissions. Reclaimed water use (RWU) presents a promising alternative to address this dilemma. In this paper, a valley region of Chongqing municipality in Southwest China, which is confronted with water and environmental risks resulting from rapid urbanization, was explored and discussed as a case study to assess the potential impact of RWU on reducing carbon emissions as compared to IBWT. A method of accumulative accounting was adapted to calculate and sum up carbon emission intensities at various stages, revealing that the operational carbon emission intensities of IBWT and RWU are 0.7447 KgCO2/m3 and 0.1880 KgCO2/m3, respectively. This indicates that RWU substitution can reduce carbon emissions by 0.5567 KgCO2/m3 or 75%. This paper further elucidates the mechanism behind carbon emission reduction, highlighting the energy-saving benefits of using reclaimed water locally without recourse to extensive transportation or elevation changes. Additionally, this result presents three scenarios of reclaimed water use, including urban miscellaneous water, river flow replenishment, and agricultural irrigation in relation to their substitution effects and environmental impacts. Estimates of carbon emission reductions from reclaimed water use were projected at the planned scale, with the maximum potential of reclaimed water utilization predicted. Finally, this paper proposes an enhanced strategy to identify and prioritize factors affecting reclaimed water utilization and the effect of carbon emission reduction. This paper aims to facilitate the establishment of a robust legal, institutional, and managerial framework while fostering interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral cooperation mechanisms in valley urban areas. The methodology employed can be universally applied to other regions grappling with severe water stress, thereby facilitating endeavors toward carbon reduction and contributing significantly to the attainment of water sustainability. Under the background of China's "double carbon" policy, determining how to use the carbon emission reduction effect of green finance is an important starting point for China to achieve stable economic development and sustainable ecological development. By integrating provincial data from the CEADS, EPS, CSMAR, and CNRDS databases from 2003 to 2021, the two-way fixed-effect models are used to empirically test how green finance can exert a carbon emission reduction effect. This study finds that green finance can significantly reduce carbon emission intensity. A mechanism analysis shows that green finance can promote green technology innovation, induce social investment, and promote the disclosure of the social responsibility information of listed companies to reduce carbon emissions, which is still valid after a series of robustness tests. A heterogeneity analysis finds that the government's environmental attention and the scale of financial industry development have heterogeneous effects on the carbon emission reduction mechanism of green finance. Both the government's environmental attention and the scale of financial industry development can induce social investment, but the government's environmental attention cannot promote the growth of green technology innovation, and the scale of financial industry development cannot promote the disclosure of the social responsibility information of listed companies. This paper broadens the research perspective of green finance to reduce carbon emissions and provides some empirical evidence and a theoretical reference to further promote the green transformation of the "two high and one surplus" industry and the sustainable development of the financial industry. Analyzing and investigating the impact of implementing an environmental policy mix on carbon emission from private cars and social welfare holds significant reference value. Firstly, based on vehicle trajectory big data, this paper employs reverse geocoding and artificial neural network models to predict carbon emissions from private cars in various provinces and cities in China. Secondly, by simulating different scenarios of carbon tax, carbon trading, and their policy mix, the propensity score matching model is constructed to explore the effects of the policy mix on carbon emission reduction from private cars and social welfare while conducting regional heterogeneity analysis. Finally, policy proposals are proposed to promote carbon emission reduction from private cars and enhance social welfare in China. The results indicate that the environmental policy mix has a significant positive impact on carbon emission reduction from private cars and social welfare. Furthermore, in the regional heterogeneity analysis, the implementation of the policy mix in eastern regions has a significant positive effect on both carbon emission reduction from private cars and social welfare, while in central and western regions, it shows a significant positive impact on social welfare but has no significant effect on carbon emission reduction in the private car sector. In recent years, global environmental problems such as air pollution and the greenhouse effect have become more and more serious. The utilization of biomass energy not only can promote low-carbon transformation to establish a competitive advantage through value creation under the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality but is also an important force in solving environmental problems. Government subsidy policies play an important role in promoting the development of biomass energy utilization. Taking straw as an example, this paper constructs a straw recycling supply chain system dynamics model consisting of farmers, acquisition stations, power plants, and pyrolysis plants based on a real-world case. Two types of straw processing, namely power generation and pyrolysis, are considered in the model. This paper analyzes the economic and environmental impacts of three subsidy policies, namely the unified rate policy, the linear growth policy, and a two-step policy, by comparing the profit, carbon, and pollution emission reduction benefits of the supply chain under different subsidy scenarios. The result shows that, among the three subsidy policies, the unified rate policy shows the best-promoting effect. China's government has adopted several carbon emission reduction policies to strive to achieve the dual carbon goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality". In practice, various multi-objective policy instruments are implemented in a staggered manner, which might lead to the overestimation or underestimation of single-policy effect evaluation. This paper evaluates the combined effect of the Low-carbon City Pilot (LCP) and Comprehensive Demonstration City of Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Fiscal Policy (CCEEFP), investigating whether their carbon emission reduction effects are complementary and achieve collaborative outcomes. The empirical results indicate that the LCP, the CCEEFP, and their nested implementation could all promote carbon emission reduction. Their collaborative policy effects are sustained, being more obvious in higher-grade cities. Furthermore, there is a greater adoption of the source treatment technology for carbon emissions. And the implementing order of these policies could affect governance performance because of the "path dependence" of local government's attention towards multi-objective policy intentions. With the rapid development of China's economy, China has become the world's largest carbon emitter. China not only has an obvious growth rate of industrial carbon emissions but also the intensity of agricultural carbon emissions is hovering at a high level. The development of China's agricultural economy has largely come at the expense of high emissions. Currently, under the background of global warming and difficulty in controlling greenhouse gas emissions, the development of low-carbon agriculture is an important way to realize the harmonious development of the ecological environment and economic growth and to promote the sustainable development of agriculture. The agricultural production efficiency is the main factor affecting the intensity of agricultural carbon emissions. Based on provincial panel data of China from 2010 to 2019, this paper establishes an indicator system and uses the super-efficiency SBM model to measure agricultural production efficiency. The regional agricultural carbon emissions were estimated using carbon-emission-related agricultural production activities. In order to study the nonlinear relationship between agricultural production efficiency and agricultural carbon emission intensity in the narrow sense, this paper uses a threshold regression model with agricultural carbon emissions as the threshold variable. Based on the analysis of China's agricultural production efficiency and agricultural carbon emissions from 2010 to 2019, an empirical test is conducted through a threshold regression model. The results show an "inverted U-shaped" relationship between agricultural production efficiency and agricultural carbon emission intensity. In areas with high agricultural production efficiency, the improvement of production efficiency can suppress the intensity of agricultural carbon emissions; in areas with low agricultural production efficiency, the improvement of production efficiency increases the intensity of agricultural carbon emissions. Finally, based on the research conclusions, this paper provides feasible suggestions and countermeasures for China's agricultural carbon emission reduction and improvement of agricultural production efficiency. With the global climate problem becoming increasingly severe, governments have adopted policies to encourage enterprises to invest in low-carbon technologies. However, the opacity of the carbon emission reduction process leads to incomplete consumer trust in low-carbon products as well as higher supply chain transaction costs. Based on this, this paper constructs Stackelberg game models with and without blockchain under different power structures and compares the impact of these models on low-carbon emission reduction decisions. The results show that: (1) blockchain does not necessarily improve enterprise profits and can only help enterprises maintain optimal profits within a certain range when the carbon emission cost is low; (2) when consumers' environmental awareness is high, the blockchain can incentivize manufacturers to enhance carbon emission reduction, and it has an obvious promotional effect on retailers' profits; and (3) the profit gap between enterprises in the supply chain is larger under different power structures, and the implementation of blockchain can coordinate profit distribution and narrow the gap between enterprises. Compared with the manufacturer-dominated model, the emission reduction in products is maximized under the retailer-dominated model. Our study provides theoretical support for the government to regulate greenhouse gas emissions as well as for the optimization of enterprises' decision-making supported by blockchain. Climate anomalies are affecting the world. How to reduce carbon emissions has become an important issue for governments and academics. Although previous researchers have discussed the factors of carbon emission reduction from environmental regulation, economic development, and industrial structure, limited studies have explored the carbon emission reduction effect of a city's spatial structure. Based on 108 Chinese cities from the Yangtze River Economic Belt between 2003 and 2017, this paper examines the impact of the city cluster policy on city carbon emissions using the difference-in-differences (DID) method. We find that: (1) The city cluster policy has significantly reduced the cities' carbon emissions by 7.4%. Furthermore, after a series of robust and endogenous tests, such as parallel trend and PSM-DID, the core conclusion still remains. (2) We further identify possible economic channels through this effect, and find that city cluster policy would increase city productivity, city technological innovation, and industrial structure optimization. Based on the survey data of five large grain-producing provinces in China, this paper studies the effect of agricultural production trusteeship on agricultural carbon emission reduction by using a propensity score matching method. The empirical results show that the carbon emission of wheat reduces by 7.107 kg/mu, with a decrease rate of 15.5% after participating in agricultural production trusteeship. Among them, chemical fertilizers, manpower input, agricultural chemicals and diesel oil, respectively, reduce with rates of 14.2%, 27.7%, 14.1%, and 6%. However, there are differences in the facilitation effects of different trusteeship services, with the best promotion effect of field management services, followed by cultivation, planting and harvest services, and then agricultural material supply services, for which the average treatment effects on treated (ATT) is −6.160, −5.732 and −5.530, respectively. Meanwhile, there are differences in the promotion effects for farm households with different factor endowments. The promotion effect is better for small farm households with one type of agricultural machinery or less, and an operation scale of 7 mu or less. Therefore, in order to better play the role of agricultural production trusteeship in agricultural carbon emission reduction, the government should vigorously support its development and guide more smallholders to choose agricultural production trusteeship. Power construction projects (PCPs) consume a large amount of energy and contribute significantly to carbon emissions. There is relatively little research on carbon emission reduction in PCPs, especially in predicting carbon emission reduction from a dynamic perspective. After identifying the influencing factors that promote the carbon emission reduction effect of PCPs, this study adopted a dynamic analysis method to elucidate the relationship between the variables. A quantitative carbon emission reduction system for PCPs with 51 variables was established using the system dynamics model, and the system simulation was performed using Vensim PLE software. Finally, a sensitivity analysis was conducted on four key factors: R&D investment, the prefabricated construction level, the scale of using energy-saving material, and the energy efficiency of transmission equipment. The results show that: (1) The reduction in carbon emissions from PCPs continues to increase. (2) R&D investment is the most significant factor for improving the carbon emission reduction in PCPs. (3) The value of the above four influencing factors should be increased within a reasonable range so that the four factors can work better to promote the carbon emission reduction effect of PCPs. This paper creatively proposes a dynamic prediction model for carbon emission reduction in the PCP, and the research results provide the scientific basis for government supervision and enterprise decision-making. In China, there has been a significant increase in carbon emissions in the new era. Therefore, evaluating the influence of industrial structure upgrades and energy structure optimization on reducing carbon emissions is the objective of this research. Based on the provincial panel data of 30 provinces and cities across China from 1997 to 2019, this paper builds up a fixed-effect panel quantile STIRPAT model to investigate the differences in the impact of industrial structure on carbon emission intensity at different quantile levels from the provincial perspective, and as a way of causality test, the mediation effect model is adopted to empirically test the transmission path of "industrial structure upgrading—energy structure optimization—carbon emission reduction". The research results show that: (1) Both industrial structure upgrades and energy structure optimization have significant inhibitory effects on carbon emissions, and there are regional heterogeneities. (2) The upgrading of industrial structure has a significant positive effect on optimizing energy structure. (3) The upgrading of industrial structure can not only directly restrain carbon emissions but also indirectly have a significant inhibitory effect on carbon emissions by promoting the optimization of energy structure. As a major province for hydroelectric power in China, Sichuan Province has witnessed a great amount of seasonal characteristics in its hydroelectric power, endowing the clean energy industry in Sichuan with the characteristics of unstable supply in different seasons, strong power transmission capacity, and low production capacity of other non-fossil energy sources (except hydroelectric power). In this study, the mathematical model method was used to construct a structural optimization model of the clean energy industry in Sichuan Province, and to enable a quantitative analysis of the rationalization of the clean energy industrial structure in Sichuan Province. The results are proved from the cost-effectiveness of low carbon emission that hydroelectric power > wind power > photovoltaic power > natural gas > coal > oil. This study shall find the theoretical structure of the clean energy industry in Sichuan Province in 2030 with a prediction of Sichuan Province's total future energy output and a constraint of its industrial structure model of clean energy. This paper suggests that Sichuan Province should give priority to the development of non-fossil energy sources, increase the development and utilization of power transmission channels in wet seasons, and develop clean energy and high energy consumption industries and the construction of pumped storage power stations, so as to reduce and avoid the waste of energy resources. It is also suggested that Sichuan Province should focus on developing clean energy with the capability of peak shaving, such as hydrogen energy and natural gas, while developing smart grid and long-distance transmission technology to strengthen energy conservation and emissions-reduced power generation. On this basis, Sichuan will focus on the development and utilization of natural gas as an alternative to high-carbon energy, with a view to optimizing its industrial structure of clean energy and helping China achieve the dual-carbon goals. Urban agglomerations are regions where the economy and population are highly concentrated, which are also spatial units with more concentrated carbon emissions. A detailed decomposition of driving factors based on changes in carbon emissions of urban agglomerations can provide a reference for better carbon reduction policies. In this paper, we establish an evaluation framework of carbon emission drivers of urban agglomeration from the perspective of CO2 generation and removal using a system dynamics method. The key influencing factors and optimal emission reduction measures of carbon emissions in urban agglomerations are explored. The results are as follows: (1) The industrial structure is the key influencing factor of carbon emissions; (2) compared with no implementation of any policies, the total carbon emissions and carbon emission intensity of integrated policies all significantly decrease, with a decrease of 43.68% and 53.32%, respectively in 2035; (3) energy structure adjustment has a significant effect in reducing carbon emissions and carbon emission intensity; (4) the role of increasing investment in technological innovation in ensuring achievement of "carbon peak" should not be ignored. Consumption-oriented or efficiency-oriented, it is a hard choice for the green technology innovation pathway. This paper uses the intermediary model to empirically analyze the panel data from 250 prefecture-level cities in China from 2010 to 2019. The conclusions show that: 1. At present, energy consumption-oriented green technology innovation at the national level in China shows a completely intermediary effect, which has a more obvious emission reduction effect; compared with energy consumption, energy efficiency-oriented green technology innovation only has a very weak intermediary effect of 6.58%. 2. Only the Eastern non-resource cities and the Midwest resource cities' green technology innovation have the effect of energy efficiency-oriented emission reduction, accounting for 8.11% and 9.02%, respectively. 3. Both the Eastern resource cities and the Midwest non-resource cities have no intermediary effect on energy efficiency, so carbon emission reduction is more difficult than in other cities. In the context of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality ("double carbon"), it is urgent to clarify the effect of marine spatial planning (MSP) on carbon sink increases and emission reductions, since such planning acts as a spatial governance tool for the earth's largest carbon pool. In this paper, a linkage model between marine spatial functional zones and carbon distribution is established. To explore the relationship between marine spatial functional zones and carbon, the study analyzed the carbon increase or reduction role of sea-use activities in each zone and considered the carbon sequestration function of the marine ecosystem itself. A marine spatial pattern of "Two Spaces and Four Carbon Areas" is proposed to present the linkage. A carbon distribution pattern in marine space is delimited using the linkage model and the current MSP in the case study of the city of Tangshan, Hebei, China. Some measures have been taken or planned to be taken in Tangshan to improve the carbon sink function of the ecosystem and the marine space. The supporting role of MSP in achieving the "double carbon" goal is studied, and the paths and suggestions for integrating the "double carbon" goal into MSP are explored. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the rapid development of information technology, the electricity consumption of Internet Data Centers (IDCs) increases drastically, resulting in considerable carbon emissions that need to be reduced urgently. In addition to the introduction of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), the joint use of the spatial migration capacity of IDC workload and the temporal flexibility of the demand of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCSs) provides an important means to change the carbon footprint of the IDC. In this paper, a sustainability improvement strategy for the IDC carbon emission reduction was developed by coordinating the spatial-temporal dispatch flexibilities of the IDC workload and the EVCS demand. Based on the Minkowski sum algorithm, a generalized flexible load model of the EVCSs, considering traffic flow and Road Impedance (RI) was formulated. The case studies show that the proposed method can effectively increase the renewable energy consumption, reduce the overall carbon emissions of multi-IDCs, reduce the energy cost of the DCO, and utilize the EV dispatching potential. As urbanization continues to expand in China, carbon emissions (CE) from the construction industry and the amount of construction and demolition waste (C&DW) are rapidly increasing. In order to reduce CEs and environmental hazards, this paper constructs a Stackelberg game model to explore the evolution of carbon emissions reduction (CER) and recycling strategies in the construction material supply chain (CMSC) under the carbon cap–trade (C&T) mechanism. The monotonicity analysis on important variables and model comparison simulation are then conducted. The results show the following: (1) A contractor's green preference positively correlates with the CER level and recycling rate, while the CER cost exerts the opposite effect. (2) The C&T mechanism incentivizes low-emission manufacturers to actively participate in CER. However, excessive carbon trading prices may put high-emitters in a dilemma, making the whole supply chain profitless. (3) The recycler's decision to recycle C&DW tends to follow the manufacturer's CER decision. These findings not only help policy makers understand stakeholders' behavior in CMSC under C&T mechanism, but also provide a basis for the government to formulate CER policies and introduce low-carbon management. As one of the development paths of construction industrialization, prefabricated buildings (PBs) are an important means for China's construction industry to achieve the "double carbon" goal. To better leverage the energy-saving and emission-reduction benefits of prefabricated buildings, we have analyzed the driving factors and driving paths of carbon emission reduction in prefabricated buildings from the perspective of the supply chain. The carbon emission-reduction driving index system of prefabricated building supply chains (PBSCs) was constructed through the literature review method and the questionnaire investigation method. The structural equation model (SEM) was used to analyze the relationship of each driving factor. The importance of each driving factor was quantitatively analyzed on account of the model's operation results. The results showed: the order of importance of driver levels is technology-driven > economic-driven > market-driven > government-driven > supply chain coordination-driven. The key driving factors are summarized based on the ranking of driving factor indicators in each dimension, providing a reference for participants in PBSCs to adopt low-carbon measures and providing a basis for government departments to formulate carbon emission-reduction strategies. The goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality requires major systemic changes in the energy supply sector. As one of the major non-carbon-based energy sources, geothermal energy is characterized by large reserves, stability, and reliability. This paper summarizes the current situation of geothermal resource endowment and industrial development in China. Based on this, a system dynamics model of geothermal industrialization is established, and the potential of geothermal industrialization and carbon emission reduction in China is predicted. The prediction results show that the growth rate of geothermal heating and cooling areas in the next 40 years will follow a trend of acceleration followed by deceleration. China's geothermal energy heating and cooling area will reach 11.32–14.68 billion m2 by 2060, an increase of about 9–12 times compared to 2020. The proportion of geothermal heating and cooling area to the total building area in China will reach 13.77–17.85%. The installed capacity of geothermal power generation will reach 14,452.80–20,963.20 MW by 2060 under the scenario with electricity subsidies. The proportion of geothermal energy in China's primary energy consumption structure will reach 3.67–5.64%. The annual carbon emission reduction potential of the geothermal industry will reach 436–632 million tons, equivalent to 4.41–6.39% of China's carbon emissions in 2020. The results of this study can provide a reference for the healthy and high-quality development of China's geothermal industry and help to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. The Chinese government promises to reach peak carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2030 and strives to achieve carbon neutralization by 2060. Against this background, achieving emission reduction in the cement industry is in the spotlight. Material substitution is unmistakably an effective means of CO2 emission reduction in cement production. In this paper, the three-scenario analysis approach is employed to forecast the production demand, technology development of raw meal replacement, and clinker substitution in the cement industry to try to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality. This study established a model by which to simulate the carbon emissions in the cement industry during 2020–2060 to analyze the contribution of emission reduction. Through developing new cement admixtures and improving the pretreatment of alternative calcareous materials, by 2060, under the three carbon neutrality scenarios, the clinker-to-cement ratio (CCR) falls to 0.60, 0.575, and 0.56, respectively, and the percentage of clinker produced from low-carbon raw materials reaches 13%, 17%, and 20%. In addition, the CO2 emission level is down by 57%, 61%, and 63 % in comparison to that of 2020. This study can render practical suggestions for the cement industry to achieve carbon neutrality. Carbon emission reduction is an important goal of China's sustainable economic development. As a new urbanization construction model, the importance of smart city construction for economic growth and innovation is recognized by the academic community. The impact of smart cities on the environment, especially on carbon emission reductions, has yet to be verified. This has implications for the green and low-carbon transformation of China, the realization of the peak carbon and carbon neutrality goals and the effectiveness of smart city pilot policies. For these reasons, this paper utilizes China's urban panel data, and using the difference-in-difference method, investigates the smart city pilot policy as a quasi-natural experiment of new urbanization construction and its impact on urban carbon emission reductions. The results are summarized as follows: (1) Smart city construction has reduced the carbon emissions of pilot cities by about 4.36% compared with non-pilot cities. (2) The dynamic impact analysis found that the carbon emission reduction effect of smart city construction tends not to be effective until the third year of the implementation of the policy, that the policy effect gradually increases over time, and that its carbon emission reduction dividend has a long-term sustainability. (3) The analysis of the influence mechanisms determined that smart city construction mainly promotes urban carbon emission reduction through three paths, including improving technology innovation capacity, enhancing the attraction of foreign direct investment, and accelerating the upgrading of industrial structure. (4) The heterogeneity analysis indicates that smart city construction has stronger carbon emission reduction effects in the "two control zones", non-old industrial bases and non-resource-based cities. The study of the evolutionary patterns and trends of agricultural carbon emission intensity and agricultural economic development levels plays an important role in promoting the green and low-carbon sustainable development of agriculture. This paper adopts the carbon emission factor method to measure the agricultural carbon emissions in Jiangxi Province from 2001 to 2020, uses the LMDI decomposition method to explore the drivers of carbon emissions, and further analyzes the coupling relationship between agricultural carbon emissions and the agricultural economy using the Tapio decoupling model, based on which a GM (1,1) model is used to forecast the agricultural carbon emissions in Jiangxi Province from 2001 to 2015. According to the research results, agricultural carbon emissions in Jiangxi Province show a trend of "rising and then falling", with the intensity decreasing; the level of economic development is the main factor that increases carbon emissions, while the efficiency of agricultural production, the size of the labor force, and the structure of agricultural production have positive effects in terms of reducing carbon emissions. How to reduce carbon emissions while promoting agricultural economic development is an issue that remains to be addressed in the future. Further analysis found that the decoupling states of Jiangxi Province from 2001 to 2009 switched between strong decoupling and weak decoupling, with weak decoupling dominating the years 2010–2015 and strong decoupling dominating from 2016 onwards. With the continuous promotion of carbon emission reduction, agricultural carbon emissions in Jiangxi Province will continue to show a decreasing trend over the next five years. Three policy recommendations are put forth in order to advance the effort to reduce agricultural carbon emissions in Jiangxi Province: cultivating high-quality and low-carbon rice varieties, switching to green agricultural production, and coordinating the connection between economic growth and agricultural carbon emissions. China's green credit has mostly been invested in new energy areas with positive environmental externalities in recent years, while coal power enterprises have been neglected. This paper constructs a tripartite evolutionary game model among government, coal power enterprises, and banks to clarify the key factors and mechanisms for coal power enterprises undergoing green transformation. The research results show that: Firstly, to realize the spontaneous green transformation of coal power enterprises, spontaneous profitability must be achieved before the removal of policy incentives, which is reflected in the continuous increase in electricity price, carbon emission trading price, and decrease in green transformation cost. Secondly, the green credit adjustment factor cannot determine whether a company chooses to undertake green transition, but it provides a valuable window of green transition for companies. When the relative benefits of green transformation projects are greater than the relative costs, coal power enterprises will undergo green transformation spontaneously. Thirdly, lower green credit interest rates are not better. An optimal green credit interest rate exists, that allows coal power enterprises to obtain the longest transition window in which to achieve spontaneous profitability for green transition projects. Hydrogen is considered to the ultimate solution to achieve carbon emission reduction due to its wide sources and high calorific value, as well as non-polluting, renewable, and storable advantages. This paper starts from the coastal areas, uses offshore wind power hydrogen production as the hydrogen source, and focuses on the combination of hydrogen supply chain network design and hydrogen expressway hydrogen refueling station layout optimization. It proposes a comprehensive mathematical model of hydrogen supply chain network based on cost analysis, which determined the optimal size and location of hydrogen refueling stations on hydrogen expressways in coastal areas. Under the multi-scenario and multi-case optimization results, the location of the hydrogen refueling station can effectively cover the road sections of each case, and the unit hydrogen cost of the hydrogen supply chain network is between 11.8 and 15.0 USD/kgH2. Meanwhile, it was found that the transportation distance and the number of hydrogen sources play a decisive role on the cost of hydrogen in the supply chain network, and the location of hydrogen sources have a decisive influence on the location of hydrogen refueling stations. In addition, carbon emission reduction results of hydrogen supply chain network show that the carbon emission reduction per unit hydrogen production is 15.51 kgCO2/kgH2 at the production side. The CO2 emission can be reduced by 68.3 kgCO2/km and 6.35 kgCO2/kgH2 per unit mileage and per unit hydrogen demand at the application side, respectively. Stakeholders need to participate in the carbon abatement activities to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutralization. This paper developed a system of evaluation indices on carbon emission reduction of stakeholders to elucidate the interplaying relationships among stakeholders in carbon emission reduction by using the structural equation model. The analysis showed that (1) the five stakeholders affecting carbon-reduction intensity are ranked in the following descending order: manufacturing enterprises, government, energy supply industry, R&D organizations, and financial institutions, while (2) stakeholders positively affect manufacturing enterprises and government. Notably, manufacturing enterprises exhibit the greater positive influence on carbon-reduction intensity. Finally, (3) the study results indicated how to build the co-governance mechanism by stakeholders to reduce carbon emissions. Overall, this study provided a theoretical support for the stakeholders of carbon emission reduction to clarify their roles, cooperation, and participation in carbon emission reduction, thereby realizing their own interests, while guiding stakeholders toward the carbon emission reduction. This study presents an analysis of the impact of the National Plan for the Sustainable Development of Resource-based Cities (2013–2020) on urban carbon emissions and explores the underlying mechanisms of this policy's effect. Panel data from 59 prefecture-level cities in the Shandong, Henan, Hunan, and Hubei provinces in China for the period between 2007 and 2019 were used to perform a DID (difference-in-differences) method analysis and conduct various robustness tests, including counterfactual testing, a PSM-DID (propensity score matching-difference-in-differences) method analysis, and a placebo test. The findings demonstrate that The Plan effectively reduces urban carbon emissions, with its effects varying across provinces and classes of resource-based cities. Specifically, Henan Province shows the most significant effect in reducing carbon emissions compared to the other three provinces. The Plan is more successful in regenerative and recessionary resource-based cities than in mature ones. Furthermore, it reduces carbon emissions by decreasing cities' dependence on resources, improving citizens' quality of life, and limiting the pace of industrial development. This article provides important policy implications for promoting the sustainable development of China's resource-based cities and achieving carbon emission reduction goals amidst the carbon peak and carbon neutrality contexts. This paper formulates an integrated inventory model that allows Stackelberg game policy for optimizing joint total cost of a vendor and buyer system. After receiving the lot, the buyer commences an inspection process to determine the defective items. All defective items the buyer sends to vendor during the receiving of the next lot. Due to increasing number of shipments fixed and variable transportation, as well as carbon emissions, are considered, which makes the model sustainable integrated model forever. To reduce the setup cost for the vendor, a discrete setup reduction is considered for maximization more profit. The players of the integrated model are with unequal power (as leader and follower) and the Stackelberg game strategy is utilized to solve this model for obtaining global optimum solution over the finite planning horizon. As one of the effective market instruments in carbon emission reduction policy, carbon trading is capable of promoting the smooth implementation of the "dual carbon" goal. Based on the path evolutionary game method of information economics, this paper constructs a dynamic game model of the evolution and development of government and enterprise carbon emission reduction. It also analyzes the evolution and development law of government and enterprise carbon emission reduction. We used the carbon market trading data of Guangdong Province to simulate the evolutionary game path of government and enterprise carbon emission reduction under the "double carbon" target and then selected strategies. Results show that (1) Scientific adjustment of carbon quota can effectively shorten the realization time of carbon emission reduction probability of high-pollution enterprises, obtain additional surplus carbon quota, and win extra carbon emission reduction income; (2) Increasing financial subsidies can improve the probability of carbon emission reduction of high-pollution enterprises but cannot prevent the periodic change in carbon emission reduction probability, which in turn helps prolong the "window period" of government regulation on carbon emission reduction; (3) Increasing carbon emission penalties will help high-pollution enterprises actively reduce emissions and improve the motivation of government supervision; (4) The government can introduce a dynamic reward and punishment mechanism. If the government properly chooses the reward and punishment strategy, it may not necessarily pay additional subsidies, so that the government and enterprises can cooperate in tacit agreement to achieve the goal of carbon emission reduction; (5) If the price of carbon emission permits is adjusted, high-pollution enterprises will actively reduce carbon emissions and gain greater benefits no matter what regulatory measures the government takes. Results of this study have profound significance for carbon emission reduction strategies and government regulation of high-pollution enterprises and will help China achieve its "dual carbon" development goal. With the requirement of energy decarbonization, natural gas (NG) and hydrogen (H2) become increasingly important in the world's energy landscape. The liquefaction of NG and H2 significantly increases energy density, facilitating large-scale storage and long-distance transport. However, conventional liquefaction processes mainly adopt electricity-driven compression refrigeration technology, which generally results in high energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Absorption refrigeration technology (ART) presents a promising avenue for enhancing energy efficiency and reducing emissions in both NG and H2 liquefaction processes. Its ability to utilize industrial waste heat and renewable thermal energy sources over a large temperature range makes it particularly attractive for sustainable energy practices. This review comprehensively analyzes the progress of ART in terms of working pairs, cycle configurations, and heat and mass transfer in main components. To operate under different driven heat sources and refrigeration temperatures, working pairs exhibit a diversified development trend. The environment-friendly and high-efficiency working pairs, in which ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents are new absorbents, exhibit promising development potential. Through the coupling of heat and mass transfer within the cycle or the addition of sub-components, cycle configurations with higher energy efficiency and a wider range of operational conditions are greatly focused. Additives, ultrasonic oscillations, and mechanical treatment of heat exchanger surfaces efficiently enhance heat and mass transfer in the absorbers and generators of ART. Notably, nanoparticle additives and ultrasonic oscillations demonstrate a synergistic enhancement effect, which could significantly improve the energy efficiency of ART. For the conventional NG and H2 liquefaction processes, the energy-saving and carbon emission reduction potential of ART is analyzed from the perspectives of specific power consumption (SPC) and carbon dioxide emissions (CEs). The results show that ART integrated into the liquefaction processes could reduce the SPC and CE by 10~38% and 10~36% for NG liquefaction processes, and 2~24% and 5~24% for H2 liquefaction processes. The circulation industry, centered on the flow of commodities and supported by logistics, information, and capital flows, serves as a vital link between production and consumption, playing a pivotal role in enhancing production efficiency and facilitating economic transformation and upgrading. Through the spatial aggregation and interconnection of industries such as wholesale and retail, logistics, and catering, the circulation industry forms an economic system characterized by spatial cohesion and resource sharing, thereby significantly impacting carbon emissions through improved production efficiency. This study integrates both the "production side" and "consumption side" into an analytical framework examining the relationship between the circulation industry and carbon emissions. It looks into the mechanisms underlying the industry's influence on carbon reduction and empirically tests these mechanisms using systematic estimation methods based on data from 30 Chinese provinces spanning 2011 to 2020. The results reveal a pronounced carbon reduction effect within the circulation industry, which intensifies across quantiles, exhibiting regional disparities with stronger effects in central regions compared to eastern regions and insignificant effects in western regions. On the production side, the circulation industry significantly reduces carbon emissions through scale, technology, and structural effects. Conversely, on the consumption side, while the upgrading of rural residents' consumption structure exhibits a carbon emission suppression effect, the same upgrade among urban residents leads to an enhancement of carbon emissions. The primary contribution of this study lies in constructing an analytical framework that explores the nexus between the circulation industry and carbon emissions. It empirically validates the mechanisms through which the industry impacts carbon emissions at both the production and consumption ends, uncovering regional heterogeneities in carbon reduction efforts. This study investigates the heterogeneity and driving factors of carbon emission reduction in developed countries, providing insights for formulating carbon neutrality strategies and plans in China. Firstly, typical developed countries worldwide are categorized into four modes: high energy consumption–high emissions, high energy consumption–low emissions, low energy consumption–low emissions and low energy consumption–high emissions, based on the "per capita energy consumption–emission intensity" classification method. Secondly, the LMDI decomposition model is employed to calculate the carbon emission-reduction driving effects of each mode, thereby analyzing the evolution path of carbon emissions. Finally, carbon emission-reduction policy recommendations are proposed based on the current situation of provincial carbon emissions in China. The research findings are as follows: (1) Carbon emissions in developed countries follow the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) law, exhibiting an inverted U-shaped trajectory. In the per capita GDP range of USD 12,000–20,000, carbon emissions in most countries have reached or are close to their peak, with per capita carbon emissions in different modes decreasing and tending towards a level of 4000 kg/person. (2) There is heterogeneity in the EKC of carbon emissions in developed countries, which can be divided into technological, structural, comprehensive and clean types based on differences in emission-reduction factors. The trajectories of carbon emissions in most developed countries follow a clean path, while those in newly developed countries are constrained by environmental pressures and are expected to be between mixed and structural types before the emission peak, and tend towards a clean type after the peak. (3) Energy clean-up is the most direct and efficient method for carbon emission reduction, which can significantly and efficiently achieve carbon emission reduction. Industrial restructuring and technological progress play a significant role in suppressing carbon emissions. Policy recommendations are proposed as follows: first, reduce the proportion of fossil energy and increase energy cleanliness; second, promote industrial restructuring to reduce energy dependence; third, enhance production technology and improve energy-utilization efficiency; fourth, increase technological breakthroughs to support low-carbon transformation; fifth, correctly recognize the differences among provinces in China and formulate differentiated carbon emission-reduction policies. Digital trade (DT), a key component of today's digital economy, is pivotal in attaining "carbon neutrality and carbon peaking", essential for low-carbon and high-quality growth. This study delves into the intermediary role of carbon emissions (CE) reduction in DT, analyzing both production and consumption angles, and examines the moderating influences of CE in DT through industrial agglomeration and low-carbon pilot policy. The research employs spatial panel and system GMM models for an empirical investigation. On the production side, the scale and technological effects on CE outweigh the structural impact on emissions. In terms of consumption, the mediating role of urban residents' consumption upgrading is to enhance the effect of DT on reducing CE by promoting consumption upgrading, whereas the mediating role of rural residents' consumption upgrading is to promote consumption upgrading but weaken the effect of DT on reducing CE. Regarding regulatory influences, the factor of industrial agglomeration tends to diminish the impact of DT on reducing CE; thus, industrial agglomeration does not amplify the reduction effect of DT on CE. As the carbon trading scheme has a significant impact on China's sustainable economy and environmental protection, the policy influence of carbon emissions and carbon emission efficiency in pilot provinces has become a key research topic. Based on the data of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2007 to 2018, this paper estimates carbon emission efficiency by using a super-efficiency SBM model, and the difference-in-difference method is adopted to investigate the policy's influence. The results show that: (1) carbon trading policies have a significant carbon emission reduction effect and a positive effect on carbon emission efficiency in pilot areas. (2) There is a dynamic effect that increases year by year, and the policies have a synergistic emission reduction effect on CO2 and SO2. (3) The carbon trading policy has different effects on carbon emission efficiency depending on pilot areas. Before and after the implementation of the policy, carbon emission efficiency in Tianjin remained almost unchanged, while the carbon emission efficiency in Hubei and Chongqing increased significantly. Although the efficiency of Shanghai and Guangdong remains at the forefront, they fluctuate greatly. Beijing is the only city to remain a frontier every year, showing significant policy impact. In the context of China's dual carbon target, Beijing, as the capital of China, should play an exemplary role in carbon emission reduction. On the premise of optimizing high-emission sectors such as coal and industry, Beijing is still a certain distance from the goal of carbon neutrality. Therefore, on the basis of Beijing's energy resource endowment, considering Beijing's economic development and carbon neutrality goals and scientifically and reasonably planning Beijing's carbon emission reduction path are important tasks. We construct an energy structure optimization model to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. The model analysis concludes that the residents and transportation sectors will account for a large proportion of Beijing's total carbon emissions in the future. To achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, the electricity substitution of fossil energy and the high proportion of external power are two necessary measures, and the optimal path of carbon emission reduction is proposed. To cope with huge carbon emission pressure, China has implemented a carbon emissions trading pilot policy that aims to provide reasonable suggestions for the smooth operation of the national carbon market. This paper selects the provincial panel data in China from 2005 to 2019 and uses the propensity score matching-difference in difference (PSM-DID) method to evaluate the carbon emission policy's reduction effect. Based on carbon emissions (CE) and carbon emission intensity (CI), provinces and cities are divided into four regions, and each region is verified by spatial difference analysis. Furthermore, the mediating effects of carbon emission reduction through the dual aspects of technological progress and industry structure are also discussed. Results verified that, (1) under the carbon emission trading policy, regional carbon emissions and carbon emission intensity are both significantly reduced. (2) Technological progress helps to reduce carbon emissions, while industrial structure shows no obvious contribution. (3) The four regions all show ideal emission reduction effects, of which the High CE-High CI region shows the best, but is greatly restricted by techniques. The industrial structure of the High CE-Low CI region needs to be further optimized for carbon reduction. In the Low CE-High CI region, the carbon emissions brought by economic development fail to effectively improve per capita GDP. The scale effect of urbanization on improving carbon emission efficiency and achieving low-carbon targets is an important topic in urban research. Using dynamic panel data from 64 prefecture-level cities in four typical urban agglomerations in China from 2006 to 2016, this paper constructed a stochastic frontier analysis model to empirically measure the city-level total-factor carbon emission efficiency index (TCEI) at different stages of urbanization and to identify rules governing its spatiotemporal evolution. We quantitatively analyzed the influences and functional characteristics of TCEI in the four urban agglomerations of Pearl River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, and Chengdu-Chongqing. Results show that the TCEI at different stages of urbanization in these urban agglomerations is increasing year by year. The overall city-level TCEI was ranked as follows: Pearl River Delta > Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei > Yangtze River Delta > Chengdu-Chongqing. Improvements in the level of economic development and urbanization will help achieve low-carbon development in a given urban agglomeration. The optimization of industrial structure and improvement of ecological environment will help curb carbon emissions. As the world's largest carbon emitter, China has been committed to carbon emission reduction and green development. Under the goal of "double carbon", adjusting the industrial structure and promoting the development of producer services are regarded as effective emission reduction paths. In this paper, from the perspective of market entry of enterprises, we firstly investigate the transmission mechanism between market entry of enterprises and industrial agglomeration and summarize the carbon emission reduction mechanism of producer services. Based on the panel data of 110 prefecture-level cities in China's Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) from 2003 to 2017, we analyze the impact of producer services on carbon emission reduction by using the dynamic spatial panel model. The empirical results show that China's urban carbon dioxide emissions have noticeable spatial spillover effects and high emission club clustering characteristics and exhibit a noticeable snowball effect and leakage effect in time and space dimensions. The development of the producer services can effectively reduce carbon emission levels, effectively solving the dilemma of "stabilizing growth and promoting emission reduction". Furthermore, there is an apparent synergistic effect between enterprises' market entry and industrial agglomeration. The agglomeration of producer services can effectively promote the entry of innovative new enterprises, thus increasing the carbon emission reduction effect. However, due to resource mismatch and isomorphic development, this carbon emission reduction effect has apparent industrial heterogeneity and regional heterogeneity. Finally, this paper makes suggestions for optimizing regional industrial structure, strengthening inter-regional linkage cooperation, and promoting the advanced development of the producer services. Green finance has been widely acknowledged as a pivotal instrument for mitigating carbon emissions. However, few studies have focused on the role of maturity mismatches in promoting carbon emission reduction through green finance. This study aims to develop a composite criterion for green finance and examine the mechanism of how green finance affects carbon emissions via the new perspective of maturity mismatch. It is accomplished by applying a two-way fixed effects model which incorporates provincial data spanning from 2010 to 2020. The empirical evidence suggests green finance plays a significant role in carbon emission reduction, a result that remains robust even after undergoing other tests such as using instrumental variables and alternating econometric models. Furthermore, this effect is particularly pronounced in regions with high degrees of green finance and low energy consumption. Mechanism analysis documents that green finance reduces carbon emissions by addressing maturity mismatch issues faced by green enterprises. Further research finds that green finance can promote the synergy of pollution and carbon reduction; in particular, the effect of maturity mismatch on SO2 reduction is more obvious. Consequently, this study offers practical recommendations for governments, financial institutions, and other relevant policymakers to further propel the advancement of green finance. Under the mounting pressure to make changes to become more environmentally friendly and sustainable, port authorities have been exploring effective solutions to reduce CO2 emissions. In this regard, alternative fuels, innovative technology, and optimization strategies are key pathways for ports to transition toward a low-carbon pattern. In this review work, the current development status and characteristics of renewable and clean energy in ports were meticulously analyzed. The CO2 emission reduction effects and limitations of port microgrids, carbon capture, and other technological operations were thoroughly examined. Lastly, the emission reduction optimization strategies ports could adopt under different scenarios were evaluated. The research findings showed that (1) combining the characteristics of the port and quantifying the properties of different renewable energy sources and low-carbon fuels is extremely necessary to select suitable alternative energy sources for port development; (2) technological advancements, multi-party interests, and policy impacts were the primary factors influencing the development of emission reduction technology methods; and (3) the coordinated optimization of multiple objectives in cross-scenarios was the main direction for ports to achieve sustainable development. This study provides theoretical guidance to ports that are transitioning to a greener pattern, as well as pointing out future research directions and development spaces for researchers. China's digital economy has been expanding rapidly in the past decade. This expansion is having a profound impact on the country's economy. Using panel data on 97 prefecture-level cities in the Yellow River Basin from 2011 to 2020, this study investigates the multifaceted relationship between the digital economy and total-factor carbon emission efficiency. The research yields three key findings: (1) The digital economy positively enhances overall carbon emission efficiency. This conclusion is drawn with robustness tests. (2) Green technology innovation serves as a partial mediator between the digital economy and total-factor carbon emission efficiency, and this mediation role is influenced by government intervention, which negatively moderates the relationship between the digital economy and green technology innovation but positively impacts the mediation role of green technology innovation between the digital economy and total-factor carbon emission efficiency. (3) The positive impact of the digital economy on total-factor carbon emission efficiency is more significant in the upper reaches, lower reaches, and resource-based cities of the Yellow River Basin. These findings provide new perspectives and empirical evidence for better understanding the relationship between digital economy development and total-factor carbon emission efficiency. Global emphasis on sustainable development is widespread, with industries playing a pivotal role in advancing global sustainability within the business and retail sectors. Consumer awareness of environmental concerns, such as pollution, prompts a focus on product biodegradability and eco-friendliness. Consequently, customers are drawn to products with higher green credentials. This study delves into the effectiveness of green attributes in retail industries, exploring the optimization of profit through a variable production rate and variable unit production cost, considering the selling price and the demand dependent on the product's green level. In the long run, production systems may shift to an "out-of-control" state, resulting in the random production of imperfect items that must be remanufactured to maintain the industry's positive brand image. To mitigate the impact of defective items, the industry opts to partially outsource a percentage of items, preventing shortages. However, this complex retailing system generates a significant amount of carbon emissions. This study introduces investments aimed at reducing carbon emissions to address this issue. In contrast with the existing literature, a green-level-dependent unit raw material cost is considered here for variable unit production cost. Ultimately, this study seeks to maximize the overall system's profit by optimizing the selling price, order quantity, production rate, green level, and carbon emission reduction investments. The classical optimization technique is utilized to obtain analytic optimum results for the decision variables and total profit. Special cases and sensitivity analyses illustrate the real-world applicability and impact of green levels. Numerical findings indicate that considering the product's green-level-dependent demand and unit production rate is 22.44 % more beneficial than nongreen products, partial outsourcing provides a 1.28 % advantage, and flexibility in the production rate yields a 69.60 % benefit over traditional systems without green elements. Threatened by the huge pressure caused by climate change, low-carbon cities have become an inevitable part of urban evolution. It is essential to evaluate urban low-carbon development levels to smoothly promote the construction of low-carbon cities. This paper proposes an evaluation index system for urban low-carbon development from the points of view of economic development and social progress, energy structure and usage efficiency, living consumption, and development surroundings. A weighted sum model was also established. Selecting 12 typical Chinese cities as cases studies, an integrated evaluation was conducted based on the index system and the assessment model. The development speed and limiting factors of different cities were also analyzed. The 12 cities were ultimately classified into three groups in terms of their low-carbon development patterns by integrating all of the analysis results. Furthermore, suitable regulation and management for different patterns were suggested. The paper describes one promising method and approach for the recycling, reuse, and co-resource treatment of waste photovoltaic silicon and lithium battery anode graphite. Specifically, this work considers the preparation of nano/micron silicon carbide (SiC) from waste resources. Using activated carbon as a microwave susceptor over a very short timeframe, this research paper shows that nano/micron β-SiC can be successfully synthesized using microwave sintering technology. The used sintering temperature is significantly faster and more energy-efficient than traditional processes. The research results show that the β-SiC particle growth morphology greatly affected by the microwave sintering time. In a short microwave sintering time, the morphology of the β-SiC product is in the form of nano/micron clusters. The clusters tended to be regenerated into β-SiC nanorods after appropriately extending the microwave sintering time. In the context of heat conversion and resource saving, the comprehensive CO2 emission reduction is significantly higher than that of the traditional SiC production method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The transport sector has produced numerous carbon emissions in China, and it is important to promote low carbon commuting. As an emerging mode of urban low-carbon transportation in China, shared bicycles have been used by more and more citizens on a daily basis, with advantages of green and low-carbon emissions to environment, flexibility for short trips, and convenience for covering the distance between the normal low-carbon transportation and destinations. However, the imbalanced distribution of shared bicycles along subway lines, especially during the morning peak hours, has directly restricted their performance in urban traffic. In this paper, an integer linear program model (ILPM) is proposed to obtain an optimal low-carbon distribution plan of shared bicycles connecting with the subway line (SBCSL) during the morning peak hours. First, an objective function is built to improve the carbon emission reduction of SBCSL. Second, constraint functions are extracted considering the quantity of bicycles to be distributed to the subway line as well as the distribution limits of each subway station. At last, a case study is conducted on the distribution of shared bicycles in Beijing Subway Line 13 of China during the morning peak hours. The results show that the ILPM is of significance to provide optimal distribution scheme of shared bicycles in subway line with different station types including office-oriented, residential-oriented, and hybrid-oriented stations. This paper simulates the effect of a carbon tariff on China's trade of industrial products and emission reduction through the GTAP 8.0 model, when the European Union, the United States, and Japan impose a carbon tariff simultaneously or respectively. The conclusions indicate: (1) a carbon tariff will cause a decrease in exports for high-carbon industries and generate an increase in exports for low-carbon industries; (2) a carbon tariff will cause a greater reduction on imports for low-carbon industries than that for high-carbon industries; (3) a carbon tariff will also generate a noticeable increase in output for light industry and a decrease in output for heavy industry; and (4) a carbon tariff has an obviously positive effect on emission reduction for China's industrial sector, which bears the most responsibility of emission reduction. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has been progressively implementing stricter regulations on ship carbon emissions, leading to many vessels adopting the virtual arrival (VA) method to reduce their carbon footprint. However, the effectiveness of the traditional VA method often varies in busy ports with complex traffic organization scenarios. To address this, our study presents a novel, comprehensive model that integrates vessel scheduling with the VA approach. This model is designed to achieve a dual objective: reducing carbon emissions through virtual arrival while simultaneously minimizing vessel waiting times. In addition to these goals, it incorporates essential aspects of safety, efficiency, and fairness in port management, utilizing the NSGA-2 algorithm to find optimal solutions. This model has been tested and validated through a case study at Ningbo-Zhoushan port, employing its dataset. The results demonstrate that our innovative model and algorithm significantly outperform traditional scheduling methods, such as First-Come-First-Serve (FCFS) and Virtual-Arrival Last-Serve (VALS), particularly in terms of operational efficiency and reduction in vessel carbon emissions. China is the world's largest carbon emitter and coal de-capacity is a policy with immediate and substantial CO2 reduction effects. However, the carbon emission reduction and health co-benefits arising from the coal de-capacity are often ignored. Here, we assessed the carbon emission reductions and quantified the health co-benefits from coal de-capacity based on an analysis of the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of the mine closures and phase out during 2016–2022. Our findings show that China had closed/phased out a total of 4027 mines with a total de-capacity of 8.75 × 108 t, spatially concentrated in Southwest and North China from 2016 to 2022. The coal life cycle emitted 1859 million t of carbon during the coal de-capacity. Importantly, 11,775 premature deaths were avoided during 2016–2022 due to reduced PM2.5 exposure as a result of coal mining. This study highlights the significant effects of coal de-capacity on carbon reduction and health co-benefits in China and provides scientific evidence and data to support the achievement of the sustainable development goals and the 'dual carbon goals'. In this study, a black-shading cylindrical water tank made of high-density polyethylene was locally manufactured as a household digestor for treating cow manure in Bangladesh. Effluent slurry instead of water was reused for manure dilution under manure-to-slurry ratios of 1:2 and 1:1, to assess this small prototype's production efficiency and feasibility. The specific biogas production at both ratios matched well, by 0.12 m3/kg VS and 0.14 m3/kg VS, respectively, while the former slurry dilution operation outperformed in daily and accumulative biogas production by 16% and 57%, correspondingly, referring to 0.49 Nm3/d on average and 8.55 Nm3 in total, potentially meeting a 2 h household cooking energy requirement. From a nationwide viewpoint, slurry dilution was proven to be a great initiative to conserve water amounting to 50,286,751 m3 for 114,810 households of 6 person-equivalents annually, while cutting chemical costs by USD 32,720,684/yr and trimming annual greenhouse gas emission by 1.8 million tons of CO2e.
