Simple Summary: In the sorting process of Chinese softshell turtles, it is necessary to classify them based on their weight and accurately identify their plastron and carapace. This process requires heavy manual labor and complex mechanical processing methods. To improve processing efficiency and reduce costs, this article introduces machine vision technology, and a new image processing method is proposed. This method can estimate the weight of Chinese softshell turtles and accurately locate the positions of their plastron and carapace. The automation level of aquaculture can be greatly enhanced, and hardware costs can be reduced through software optimization through this approach. With the rapid development of the turtle breeding industry in China, the demand for automated turtle sorting is increasing. The automatic sorting of Chinese softshell turtles mainly consists of three parts: visual recognition, weight prediction, and individual sorting. This paper focuses on two aspects, i.e., visual recognition and weight prediction, and a novel method for the object detection and weight prediction of Chinese softshell turtles is proposed. In the individual sorting process, computer vision technology is used to estimate the weight of Chinese softshell turtles and classify them by weight. For the visual recognition of the body parts of Chinese softshell turtles, a color space model is proposed in this paper to separate the turtles from the background effectively. By applying multiple linear regression analysis for modeling, the relationship between the weight and morphological parameters of Chinese softshell turtles is obtained, which can be used to estimate the weight of turtles well. An improved deep learning object detection network is used to extract the features of the plastron and carapace of the Chinese softshell turtles, achieving excellent detection results. Due to budget and sensor technology constraints, a single sensor cannot simultaneously provide observational images with both a high spatial and temporal resolution. To solve the above problem, the spatiotemporal fusion (STF) method was proposed and proved to be an indispensable tool for monitoring land surface dynamics. There are relatively few systematic reviews of the STF method. Bibliometrics is a valuable method for analyzing the scientific literature, but it has not yet been applied to the comprehensive analysis of the STF method. Therefore, in this paper, we use bibliometrics and scientific mapping to analyze the 2967 citation data from the Web of Science from 1991 to 2023 in a metrological manner, covering the themes of STF, data fusion, multi-temporal analysis, and spatial analysis. The results of the literature analysis reveal that the number of articles displays a slow to rapid increase during the study period, but decreases significantly in 2023. Research institutions in China (1059 papers) and the United States (432 papers) are the top two contributors in the field. The keywords "Sentinel", "deep learning" (DL), and "LSTM" (Long Short-Term Memory) appeared most frequently in the past three years. In the future, remote sensing spatiotemporal fusion research can address more of the limitations of heterogeneous landscapes and climatic conditions to improve fused images' accuracy. The complexity in stock index futures markets, influenced by the intricate interplay of human behavior, is characterized as nonlinearity and dynamism, contributing to significant uncertainty in long-term price forecasting. While machine learning models have demonstrated their efficacy in stock price forecasting, they rely solely on historical price data, which, given the inherent volatility and dynamic nature of financial markets, are insufficient to address the complexity and uncertainty in long-term forecasting due to the limited connection between historical and forecasting prices. This paper introduces a pioneering approach that integrates financial theory with advanced deep learning methods to enhance predictive accuracy and risk management in China's stock index futures market. The SF-Transformer model, combining spot-forward parity and the Transformer model, is proposed to improve forecasting accuracy across short and long-term horizons. Formulated upon the arbitrage-free futures pricing model, the spot-forward parity model offers variables such as stock index price, risk-free rate, and stock index dividend yield for forecasting. Our insight is that the mutual information generated by these variables has the potential to significantly reduce uncertainty in long-term forecasting. A case study on predicting major stock index futures prices in China demonstrates the superiority of the SF-Transformer model over models based on LSTM, MLP, and the stock index futures arbitrage-free pricing model, covering both short and long-term forecasting up to 28 days. Unlike existing machine learning models, the Transformer processes entire time series concurrently, leveraging its attention mechanism to discern intricate dependencies and capture long-range relationships, thereby offering a holistic understanding of time series data. An enhancement of mutual information is observed after introducing spot-forward parity in the forecasting. The variation of mutual information and ablation study results highlights the significant contributions of spot-forward parity, particularly to the long-term forecasting. Overall, these findings highlight the SF-Transformer model's efficacy in leveraging spot-forward parity for reducing uncertainty and advancing robust and comprehensive approaches in long-term stock index futures price forecasting. Before 2008, China lacked high-coverage regional surface observation data, making it difficult for the China Meteorological Administration Land Data Assimilation System (CLDAS) to directly backtrack high-resolution, high-quality land assimilation products. To address this issue, this paper proposes a deep learning model named UNET_DCA, based on the UNET architecture, which incorporates a Dual Cross-Attention module (DCA) for multiscale feature fusion by introducing Channel Cross-Attention (CCA) and Spatial Cross-Attention (SCA) mechanisms. This model focuses on the near-surface 10-m wind field and achieves spatial downscaling from 6.25 km to 1 km. We conducted training and validation using data from 2020–2021, tested with data from 2019, and performed ablation experiments to validate the effectiveness of each module. We compared the results with traditional bilinear interpolation methods and the SNCA-CLDASSD model. The experimental results show that the UNET-based model outperforms SNCA-CLDASSD, indicating that the UNET-based model captures richer information in wind field downscaling compared to SNCA-CLDASSD, which relies on sequentially stacked CNN convolution modules. UNET_CCA and UNET_SCA, incorporating cross-attention mechanisms, outperform UNET without attention mechanisms. Furthermore, UNET_DCA, incorporating both Channel Cross-Attention and Spatial Cross-Attention mechanisms, outperforms UNET_CCA and UNET_SCA, which only incorporate one attention mechanism. UNET_DCA performs best on the RMSE, MAE, and COR metrics (0.40 m/s, 0.28 m/s, 0.93), while UNET_DCA_ars, incorporating more auxiliary information, performs best on the PSNR and SSIM metrics (29.006, 0.880). Evaluation across different methods indicates that the optimal model performs best in valleys, followed by mountains, and worst in plains; it performs worse during the day and better at night; and as wind speed levels increase, accuracy decreases. Overall, among various downscaling methods, UNET_DCA and UNET_DCA_ars effectively reconstruct the spatial details of wind fields, providing a deeper exploration for the inversion of high-resolution historical meteorological grid data. Winter wheat is a significant global food crop, and it is crucial to monitor its distribution for better agricultural management, land planning, and environmental sustainability. However, the distribution style of winter wheat planting fields is not consistent due to different terrain conditions. In mountainous areas, winter wheat planting units are smaller in size and fragmented in distribution compared to plain areas. Unfortunately, most crop-mapping research based on deep learning ignores the impact of topographic relief on crop distribution and struggles to handle hilly areas effectively. In this paper, we propose a cross-modal segmentation network for winter wheat mapping in complex terrain using remote-sensing multi-temporal images and DEM data. First, we propose a diverse receptive fusion (DRF) module, which applies a deformable receptive field to optical images during the feature fusion process, allowing it to match winter wheat plots of varying scales and a fixed receptive field to the DEM to extract evaluation features at a consistent scale. Second, we developed a distributed weight attention (DWA) module, which can enhance the feature intensity of winter wheat, thereby reducing the omission rate of planting areas, especially for the small-sized regions in hilly terrain. Furthermore, to demonstrate the performance of our model, we conducted extensive experiments and ablation studies on a large-scale dataset in Lanling county, Shandong province, China. Research on wildlife monitoring methods is a crucial tool for the conservation of rare wildlife in China. However, the fact that rare wildlife monitoring images in field scenes are easily affected by complex scene information, poorly illuminated, obscured, and blurred limits their use. This often results in unstable recognition and low accuracy levels. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel wildlife identification model for rare animals in Giant Panda National Park (GPNP). We redesigned the C3 module of YOLOv5 using NAMAttention and the MemoryEfficientMish activation function to decrease the weight of field scene features. Additionally, we integrated the WIoU boundary loss function to mitigate the influence of low-quality images during training, resulting in the development of the NMW-YOLOv5 model. Our model achieved 97.3% for mAP50 and 83.3% for mAP50:95 in the LoTE-Animal dataset. When comparing the model with some classical YOLO models for the purpose of conducting comparison experiments, it surpasses the current best-performing model by 1.6% for mAP50:95, showcasing a high level of recognition accuracy. In the generalization ability test, the model has a low error rate for most rare wildlife species and is generally able to identify wildlife in the wild environment of the GPNP with greater accuracy. It has been demonstrated that NMW-YOLOv5 significantly enhances wildlife recognition accuracy in field environments by eliminating irrelevant features and extracting deep, effective features. Furthermore, it exhibits strong detection and recognition capabilities for rare wildlife in GPNP field environments. This could offer a new and effective tool for rare wildlife monitoring in GPNP. Simple Summary: In response to the quantitative demand for the practical deployment of applications and the need to enhance the detection accuracy of wildlife in complex field environments in southwest China and neighboring regions, we have refined the wildlife detection algorithm based on re-parameterized convolution. This refinement is specifically targeted at addressing the challenges posed by the low quality of wildlife images captured by camera traps and the limitations of traditional object detection algorithms in feature extraction capability. To address these issues, we have introduced a series of improvement schemes. As a result of these enhancements, there has been a noteworthy improvement in both the accuracy of wildlife detection and the speed of model inference. This advancement offers a convenient and efficient method for the preliminary detection in the context of automated wildlife monitoring. To autonomously detect wildlife images captured by camera traps on a platform with limited resources and address challenges such as filtering out photos without optimal objects, as well as classifying and localizing species in photos with objects, we introduce a specialized wildlife object detector tailored for camera traps. This detector is developed using a dataset acquired by the Saola Working Group (SWG) through camera traps deployed in Vietnam and Laos. Utilizing the YOLOv6-N object detection algorithm as its foundation, the detector is enhanced by a tailored optimizer for improved model performance. We deliberately introduce asymmetric convolutional branches to enhance the feature characterization capability of the Backbone network. Additionally, we streamline the Neck and use CIoU loss to improve detection performance. For quantitative deployment, we refine the RepOptimizer to train a pure VGG-style network. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method empowers the model to achieve an 88.3% detection accuracy on the wildlife dataset in this paper. This accuracy is 3.1% higher than YOLOv6-N, and surpasses YOLOv7-T and YOLOv8-N by 5.5% and 2.8%, respectively. The model consistently maintains its detection performance even after quantization to the INT8 precision, achieving an inference speed of only 6.15 ms for a single image on the NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX device. The improvements we introduce excel in tasks related to wildlife image recognition and object localization captured by camera traps, providing practical solutions to enhance wildlife monitoring and facilitate efficient data acquisition. The accurate estimation of forest aboveground biomass is of great significance for forest management and carbon balance monitoring. Remote sensing instruments have been widely applied in forest parameters inversion with wide coverage and high spatiotemporal resolution. In this paper, the capability of different remote-sensed imagery was investigated, including multispectral images (GaoFen-6, Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8) and various SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data (GaoFen-3, Sentinel-1, ALOS-2), in aboveground forest biomass estimation. In particular, based on the forest inventory data of Hangzhou in China, the Random Forest (RF), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Convolutional Neural Networks Long Short-Term Memory Networks (CNN-LSTM) algorithms were deployed to construct the forest biomass estimation models, respectively. The estimate accuracies were evaluated under the different configurations of images and methods. The results show that for the SAR data, ALOS-2 has a higher biomass estimation accuracy than the GaoFen-3 and Sentinel-1. Moreover, the GaoFen-6 data is slightly worse than Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 optical data in biomass estimation. In contrast with the single source, integrating multisource data can effectively enhance accuracy, with improvements ranging from 5% to 10%. The CNN-LSTM generally performs better than CNN and RF, regardless of the data used. The combination of CNN-LSTM and multisource data provided the best results in this case and can achieve the maximum R2 value of up to 0.74. It was found that the majority of the biomass values in the study area in 2018 ranged from 60 to 90 Mg/ha, with an average value of 64.20 Mg/ha. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, with the development of pelagic fishing, the working environment and monitoring of crew (squid jigger) members have become increasingly important. However, traditional methods of pelagic human observers suffer from high costs, low coverage, poor timeliness, and susceptibility to subjective factors. In contrast, the Electronic Monitoring System (EMS) has advantages such as continuous operation under various weather conditions; more objective, transparent, and efficient data; and less interference with fishing operations. This paper shows how the 3DCNN model, LSTM+ResNet model, and TimeSformer model are applied to video-classification tasks, and for the first time, they are applied to an EMS. In addition, this paper tests and compares the application effects of the three models on video classification, and discusses the advantages and challenges of using them for video recognition. Through experiments, we obtained the accuracy and relevant indicators of video recognition using different models. The research results show that when NUM_FRAMES is set to 8, the LSTM+ResNet-50 model has the best performance, with an accuracy of 88.47%, an F 1 score of 0.8881, and an m a p score of 0.8133. Analyzing the EMS for pelagic fishing can improve China's performance level and management efficiency in pelagic fishing, and promote the development of the fishery knowledge service system and smart fishery engineering. Photovoltaic (PV) power generation is booming in rural areas, not only to meet the energy needs of local farmers but also to provide additional power to urban areas. Existing methods for estimating the spatial distribution of PV power generation potential either have low accuracy and rely on manual experience or are too costly to be applied in rural areas. In this paper, we discuss three aspects, namely, geographic potential, physical potential, and technical potential, and propose a large-scale and efficient PV potential estimation system applicable to rural rooftops in China. Combined with high-definition map images, we proposed an improved SegNeXt deep learning network to extract roof images. Using the national standard Design Code for Photovoltaic Power Plants (GB50797-2012) and the Bass model, computational results were derived. The average pixel accuracy of the improved SegNeXt was about 96%, which well solved the original problems of insufficient finely extracted edges, poor adhesion, and poor generalization ability and can cope with different types of buildings. Leizhou City has a geographic potential of 1500 kWh/m2, a physical potential of 25,186,181.7 m2, and a technological potential of 442.4 MW. For this paper, we innovatively used the Bass Demand Diffusion Model to estimate the installed capacity over the next 35 years and combined the Commodity Diffusion Model with the installed capacity, which achieved a good result and conformed to the dual-carbon "3060" plan for the future of China. Blueberries have high nutritional and economic value and are easy to cultivate, so they are common fruit crops in China. There is a high demand for blueberry in domestic and foreign markets, and various technologies have been used to extend the supply cycle of blueberry to about 7 months. However, blueberry grows in clusters, and a cluster of fruits generally contains fruits of different degrees of maturity, which leads to low efficiency in manually picking mature fruits, and at the same time wastes a lot of manpower and material resources. Therefore, in order to improve picking efficiency, it is necessary to adopt an automated harvesting mode. However, an accurate maturity detection model can provide a prerequisite for automated harvesting technology. Therefore, this paper proposes a blueberry ripeness detection model based on enhanced detail feature and content-aware reassembly. First of all, this paper designs an EDFM (Enhanced Detail Feature Module) that improves the ability of detail feature extraction so that the model focuses on important features such as blueberry color and texture, which improves the model's ability to extract blueberry features. Second, by adding the RFB (Receptive Field Block) module to the model, the lack of the model in terms of receptive field can be improved, and the calculation amount of the model can be reduced at the same time. Then, by using the Space-to-depth operation to redesign the MP (MaxPool) module, a new MP-S (MaxPool–Space to depth) module is obtained, which can effectively learn more feature information. Finally, an efficient upsampling method, the CARAFE (Content-Aware Reassembly of Features) module, is used, which can aggregate contextual information within a larger receptive field to improve the detection performance of the model. In order to verify the effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper, experiments were carried out on the self-made dataset "Blueberry—Five Datasets" which consists of data on five different maturity levels of blueberry with a total of 10,000 images. Experimental results show that the mAP (mean average precision) of the proposed network reaches 80.7%, which is 3.2% higher than that of the original network, and has better performance than other existing target detection network models. Bone age assessment (BAA) is a typical clinical technique for diagnosing endocrine and metabolic diseases in children's development. Existing deep learning-based automatic BAA models are trained on the Radiological Society of North America dataset (RSNA) from Western populations. However, due to the difference in developmental process and BAA standards between Eastern and Western children, these models cannot be applied to bone age prediction in Eastern populations. To address this issue, this paper collects a bone age dataset based on the East Asian populations for model training. Nevertheless, it is laborious and difficult to obtain enough X-ray images with accurate labels. In this paper, we employ ambiguous labels from radiology reports and transform them into Gaussian distribution labels of different amplitudes. Furthermore, we propose multi-branch attention learning with ambiguous labels network (MAAL-Net). MAAL-Net consists of a hand object location module and an attention part extraction module to discover the informative regions of interest (ROIs) based only on image-level labels. Extensive experiments on both the RSNA dataset and the China Bone Age (CNBA) dataset demonstrate that our method achieves competitive results with the state-of-the-arts, and performs on par with experienced physicians in children's BAA tasks. Accurately grasping the distribution and area of cotton for agricultural irrigation scheduling, intensive and efficient management of water resources, and yield estimation in arid and semiarid regions is of great significance. In this paper, taking the Xinjiang Shihezi oasis agriculture region as the study area, extracting the spectroscopic characterization (R, G, B, panchromatic), texture feature (entropy, mean, variance, contrast, homogeneity, angular second moment, correlation, and dissimilarity) and characteristics of vegetation index (normalized difference vegetation index/NDVI, ratio vegetation index/DVI, difference vegetation index/RVI) in the cotton flowering period before and after based on GF-6 image data, four models such as the random forests (RF) and deep learning approach (U-Net, DeepLabV3+ network, Deeplabv3+ model based on attention mechanism) were used to identify cotton and to compare their accuracies. The results show that the deep learning model is better than that of the random forest model. In all the deep learning models with three kinds of feature sets, the recognition accuracy and credibility of the DeepLabV3+ model based on the attention mechanism are the highest, the overall recognition accuracy of cotton is 98.23%, and the kappa coefficient is 96.11. Using the same Deeplabv3+ model based on an attention mechanism with different input feature sets (all features and only spectroscopic characterization), the identification accuracy of the former is much higher than that of the latter. Land desertification is one of the serious ecological and environmental problems facing mankind today, which threatens the survival and development of human society. China is one of the countries with the most serious land desertification problems in the world. Therefore, it is of great theoretical value and practical significance to carry out accurate identification and monitoring of land desertification and its influencing factors in ecologically fragile areas of China. This is conducive to curbing land desertification and ensuring regional ecological security. Minqin County, Gansu Province, located in northwestern China, is one of the most serious areas of land desertification, which is also one of the four sandstorm sources in China. Dragon fruit is one of the most popular fruits in China and Southeast Asia. It, however, is mainly picked manually, imposing high labor intensity on farmers. The hard branches and complex postures of dragon fruit make it difficult to achieve automated picking. For picking dragon fruits with diverse postures, this paper proposes a new dragon fruit detection method, not only to identify and locate the dragon fruit, but also to detect the endpoints that are at the head and root of the dragon fruit, which can provide more visual information for the dragon fruit picking robot. First, YOLOv7 is used to locate and classify the dragon fruit. Then, we propose a PSP-Ellipse method to further detect the endpoints of the dragon fruit, including dragon fruit segmentation via PSPNet, endpoints positioning via an ellipse fitting algorithm and endpoints classification via ResNet. To test the proposed method, some experiments are conducted. In dragon fruit detection, the precision, recall and average precision of YOLOv7 are 0.844, 0.924 and 0.932, respectively. YOLOv7 also performs better compared with some other models. In dragon fruit segmentation, the segmentation performance of PSPNet on dragon fruit is better than some other commonly used semantic segmentation models, with the segmentation precision, recall and mean intersection over union being 0.959, 0.943 and 0.906, respectively. In endpoints detection, the distance error and angle error of endpoints positioning based on ellipse fitting are 39.8 pixels and 4.3°, and the classification accuracy of endpoints based on ResNet is 0.92. The proposed PSP-Ellipse method makes a great improvement compared with two kinds of keypoint regression method based on ResNet and UNet. Orchard picking experiments verified that the method proposed in this paper is effective. Wind turbine energy generators operate in a variety of environments and often under harsh operational conditions, which can result in the mechanical failure of wind turbines. In order to ensure the efficient operation of wind turbines, the detection of any abnormality in the mechanics is particularly important. In this paper, a method for detecting abnormalities in the bearings of wind turbine energy generators, based on the cascade deep learning model, is proposed. First, data on the mechanics of wind turbine generators were collected, and the correlation between the data was studied in order to select the parameters related to the bearing temperature. Then, the logical relationship between the observation parameters and the target parameters was established based on a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (CNN) and a long short-term memory (LSTM) network, and the difference between the predicted temperature and the actual temperature was assessed using the root mean square error evaluation model. Finally, a numerical example was used to verify the operational data from a wind farm unit in northwest China. The results show that the CNN-LSTM model proposed in this paper can detect abnormalities earlier in the state of the main bearing than the LSTM model, and the CNN-LSTM model can detect abnormalities in the main bearing that the LSTM network cannot find. The rapid and accurate extraction of wide-area coseismic landslide locations is critical in earthquake emergencies. At present, the extraction of coseismic landslides is mainly based on post-earthquake site investigation or the interpretation of human–computer interactions based on remote sensing images. However, the identification efficiency is low, which seriously delays the earthquake emergency response. On the basis of the available multisource and multiscale remote sensing data, numerous studies have been carried out on the methods of coseismic landslide extraction, such as pixel analysis, object-oriented analysis, change detection, and machine learning. However, the effectiveness of coseismic landslide extraction was low in wide areas with complex topographic and geomorphic backgrounds. Therefore, this paper offers a comprehensive study of the factors influencing coseismic landslides and researches rapid and accurate wide-area coseismic landslide extraction methods with multisource remote sensing and geoscience technology. These techniques include digital elevation modeling (DEM) and its derived slopes and aspects. An embedded multichannel spectral–topographic feature fusion model for coseismic landslide extraction based on DeepLab V3+ is proposed, and a knowledge-enhanced deep learning information extraction method integrating geological knowledge is formed. Using the Jiuzhaigou Ms7.0 earthquake (seismic intensity VIII) in Sichuan Province, China, a comparison of landslide extraction models and strategies is carried out. The results show that the model proposed in this paper achieves the best balance in the accuracy and efficiency of wide-area extractions. Using multiple feature data of coseismic landslides, the problem of mixed pixels is solved. The rate of the misidentification of landslides as clouds, snow, buildings, and roads is significantly lower than in other methods. The identified landslide boundaries are smoother and more accurate, and the connectivity is better. Compared with other methods, ours can more accurately eliminate landslides not triggered by the Jiuzhaigou earthquake. Weather forecasting requires a comprehensive analysis of various types of meteorology data, and with the wide application of deep learning in various fields, deep learning has proved to have powerful feature extraction capabilities. In this paper, from the viewpoint of an image semantic segmentation problem, a deep learning framework based on semantic segmentation is proposed to nowcast Cloud-to-Ground and Intra-Cloud lightning simultaneously within an hour. First, a dataset with spatiotemporal features is constructed using radar echo reflectivity data and lightning observation data. More specifically, each sample in the dataset consists of the past half hour of observations. Then, a Light3DUnet is presented based on 3D U-Net. The three-dimensional structured network can extract spatiotemporal features, and the encoder–decoder structure and the skip connection can handle small targets and recover more details. Due to the sparsity of lightning observations, a weighted cross-loss function was used to evaluate network performance. Finally, Light3DUnet was trained using the dataset to predict Cloud-to-Ground and Intra-Cloud lightning in the next hour. We evaluated the prediction performance of the network using a real-world dataset from middle China. The results show that Light3DUnet has a good ability to nowcast IC and CG lightning. Meanwhile, due to the spatial position coupling of IC and CG on a two-dimensional plane, predictions from summing the probabilistic prediction matrices will be augmented to obtain accurate prediction results for total flashes. Road extraction is crucial in urban planning, rescue operations, and military applications. Compared to traditional methods, using deep learning for road extraction from remote sensing images has demonstrated unique advantages. However, previous convolutional neural networks (CNN)-based road extraction methods have had limited receptivity and failed to effectively capture long-distance road features. On the other hand, transformer-based methods have good global information-capturing capabilities, but face challenges in extracting road edge information. Additionally, existing excellent road extraction methods lack validation for the Chinese region. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel road extraction model called the global–local information fusion network (GLNet). In this model, the global information extraction (GIE) module effectively integrates global contextual relationships, the local information extraction (LIE) module accurately captures road edge information, and the information fusion (IF) module combines the output features from both global and local branches to generate the final extraction results. Further, a series of experiments on two different Chinese road datasets with geographic robustness demonstrate that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art deep learning models for road extraction tasks in China. On the CHN6-CUG dataset, the overall accuracy (OA) and intersection over union (IoU) reach 97.49% and 63.27%, respectively, while on the RDCME dataset, OA and IoU reach 98.73% and 84.97%, respectively. Going beyond previous work, this paper presents a systematic literature review that explores the deployment of satellites, drones, and ground-based sensors for yield prediction in agriculture. It covers multiple aspects of the topic, including crop types, key sensor platforms, data analysis techniques, and performance in estimating yield. To this end, datasets from Scopus and Web of Science were analyzed, resulting in the full review of 269 out of 1429 retrieved publications. Our study revealed that China (93 articles, >1800 citations) and the USA (58 articles, >1600 citations) are prominent contributors in this field; while satellites were the primary remote sensing platform (62%), followed by airborne (30%) and proximal sensors (27%). Additionally, statistical methods were used in 157 articles, and model-based approaches were utilized in 60 articles, while machine learning and deep learning were employed in 142 articles and 62 articles, respectively. When comparing methods, machine learning and deep learning methods exhibited high accuracy in crop yield prediction, while other techniques also demonstrated success, contingent on the specific crop platform and method employed. The findings of this study serve as a comprehensive roadmap for researchers and farmers, enabling them to make data-driven decisions and optimize agricultural practices, paving the way towards a fully digitized yield prediction. Fossil fuel usage has a great impact on the environment and global climate. Promoting new energy vehicles (NEVs) is essential for green and low-carbon transportation and supporting sustainable development. Lithium-ion power batteries (LIPBs) are crucial energy-storage components in NEVs, directly influencing their performance and safety. Therefore, exploring LIPB reliability technologies has become a vital research area. This paper aims to comprehensively summarize the progress in LIPB reliability research. First, we analyze existing reliability studies on LIPB components and common estimation methods. Second, we review the state-estimation methods used for accurate battery monitoring. Third, we summarize the commonly used optimization methods in fault diagnosis and lifetime prediction. Fourth, we conduct a bibliometric analysis. Finally, we identify potential challenges for future LIPB research. Through our literature review, we find that: (1) model-based and data-driven approaches are currently more commonly used in state-estimation methods; (2) neural networks and deep learning are the most prevalent methods in fault diagnosis and lifetime prediction; (3) bibliometric analysis indicates a high interest in LIPB reliability technology in China compared to other countries; (4) this research needs further development in overall system reliability, research on real-world usage scenarios, and advanced simulation and modeling techniques. Day by day pollution in cities is increasing due to urbanization. One of the biggest challenges posed by the rapid migration of inhabitants into cities is increased air pollution. Sustainable Development Goal 11 indicates that 99 percent of the world's urban population breathes polluted air. In such a trend of urbanization, predicting the concentrations of pollutants in advance is very important. Predictions of pollutants would help city administrations to take timely measures for ensuring Sustainable Development Goal 11. In data engineering, imputation and the removal of outliers are very important steps prior to forecasting the concentration of air pollutants. For pollution and meteorological data, missing values and outliers are critical problems that need to be addressed. This paper proposes a novel method called multiple iterative imputation using autoencoder-based long short-term memory (MIA-LSTM) which uses iterative imputation using an extra tree regressor as an estimator for the missing values in multivariate data followed by an LSTM autoencoder for the detection and removal of outliers present in the dataset. The preprocessed data were given to a multivariate LSTM for forecasting PM2.5 concentration. This paper also presents the effect of removing outliers and missing values from the dataset as well as the effect of imputing missing values in the process of forecasting the concentrations of air pollutants. The proposed method provides better results for forecasting with a root mean square error (RMSE) value of 9.8883. The obtained results were compared with the traditional gated recurrent unit (GRU), 1D convolutional neural network (CNN), and long short-term memory (LSTM) approaches for a dataset of the Aotizhonhxin area of Beijing in China. Similar results were observed for another two locations in China and one location in India. Bearing in mind European Green Deal assumptions regarding a significant reduction of green house emissions, electricity generation from Renewable Energy Sources (RES) is more and more important nowadays. Besides this, accurate and reliable electricity generation forecasts from RES are needed for capacity planning, scheduling, managing inertia and frequency response during contingency events. The recent three years have proved that Machine Learning (ML) models are a promising solution for forecasting electricity generation from RES. In this review, the 8-step methodology was used to find and analyze 262 relevant research articles from the Scopus database. Statistic analysis based on eight criteria (ML method used, renewable energy source involved, affiliation location, hybrid model proposed, short term prediction, author name, number of citations, and journal title) was shown. The results indicate that (1) Extreme Learning Machine and ensemble methods were the most popular methods used for electricity generation forecasting from RES in the last three years (2020–2022), (2) most of the research was carried out for wind systems, (3) the hybrid models accounted for about a third of the analyzed works, (4) most of the articles concerned short-term models, (5) the most researchers came from China, (6) and the journal which published the most papers in the analyzed field was Energies. In the context of global sustainable development, solar energy is very widely used. The installed capacity of photovoltaic panels in countries around the world, especially in China, is increasing steadily and rapidly. In order to obtain accurate information about photovoltaic panels and provide data support for the macro-control of the photovoltaic industry, this paper proposed a hierarchical information extraction method, including positioning information and shape information, and carried out photovoltaic panel distribution mapping. This method is suitable for large-scale centralized photovoltaic power plants based on multi-source satellite remote sensing images. This experiment takes the three northwest provinces of China as the research area. First, a deep learning scene classification model, the EfficientNet-B5 model, is used to locate the photovoltaic power plants on 16-m spatial resolution images. This step obtains the area that contains or may contain photovoltaic panels, greatly reducing the study area with an accuracy of 99.97%. Second, a deep learning semantic segmentation model, the U2-Net model, is used to precisely locate photovoltaic panels on 2-m spatial resolution images. This step achieves the exact extraction results of the photovoltaic panels from the area obtained in the previous step, with an accuracy of 97.686%. This paper verifies the superiority of a hierarchical information extraction method in terms of accuracy and efficiency through comparative experiments with DeepLabV3+, U-Net, SegNet, and FCN8s. This meaningful work identified 180 centralized photovoltaic power plants in the study area. Additionally, this method makes full use of the characteristics of different remote sensing data sources. The analysis of marine environmental parameters plays a significant role in various aspects, including sea surface target detection, the monitoring of the marine ecological environment, marine meteorology and disaster forecasting, and the monitoring of internal waves in the ocean. In particular, for sea surface target detection, the accurate and high-resolution input of marine environmental parameters is crucial for multi-scale sea surface modeling and the prediction of sea clutter characteristics. In this paper, based on the low-resolution wind speed, significant wave height, and wave period data provided by ECMWF for the surrounding seas of China (specified latitude and longitude range), a deep learning model based on a residual structure is proposed. By introducing an attention module, the model effectively addresses the poor modeling performance of traditional methods like nearest neighbor interpolation and linear interpolation at the edge positions in the image. Experimental results demonstrate that with the proposed approach, when the spatial resolution of wind speed increases from 0.5° to 0.25°, the results achieve a mean square error (MSE) of 0.713, a peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of 49.598, and a structural similarity index measure (SSIM) of 0.981. When the spatial resolution of the significant wave height increases from 1° to 0.5°, the results achieve a MSE of 1.319, a PSNR of 46.928, and an SSIM of 0.957. When the spatial resolution of the wave period increases from 1° to 0.5°, the results achieve a MSE of 2.299, a PSNR of 44.515, and an SSIM of 0.940. The proposed method can generate high-resolution marine environmental parameter data for the surrounding seas of China at any given moment, providing data support for subsequent sea surface modeling and for the prediction of sea clutter characteristics. In this paper, we forecasted the ionospheric total electron content (TEC) over the region of China using the bidirectional convolutional gated recurrent unit (BiConvGRU) model. We first generated the China Regional Ionospheric Maps (CRIMs) using GNSS observations provide by the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China (CMONOC). We then used gridded TEC maps from 2015 to 2018 with a 1 h interval from the CRIMs as the dataset, including quiet periods and storm periods of ionospheric TEC. The BiConvGRU model was then utilized to forecast the ionospheric TEC across China for the year 2018. The forecasted TEC was compared with the TEC from the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI-2016), Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (ConvLSTM), Convolutional Gated Recurrent Unit (ConvGRU), Bidirectional Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (BiConvLSTM), and the 1-day Predicted Global Ionospheric Map (C1PG) provided by the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe (CODE). In addition, indices including Kp, ap, Dst and F10.7 were added to the training dataset to improve the forecasting accuracy of the model (-A indicates no indices, while -B indicates with indices). The results verified that the prediction accuracies of the models integrated with these indices were significantly improved, especially during geomagnetic storms. The BiConvGRU-B model presented a decrease of 41.5%, 22.3%, and 13.2% in the root mean square error (RMSE) compared to the IRI-2016, ConvGRU, and BiConvLSTM-B models during geomagnetic storm days. Furthermore, at a specific grid point, the BiConvGRU-B model showed a decrease of 42.6%, 49.1%, and 31.9% in RMSE during geomagnetic quiet days and 30.6%, 34.1%, and 15.1% during geomagnetic storm days compared to the IRI-2016, C1PG, and BiConvLSTM-B models, respectively. In the cumulative percentage analysis, the BiConvGRU-B model had a significantly higher percentage of mean absolute error (MAE) within the range of 0–1 TECU in all seasons compared to the BiConvLSTM-B model. Rice is an important food crop in China, and diseases and pests are the main factors threatening its safety, ecology, and efficient production. The development of remote sensing technology provides an important means for non-destructive and rapid monitoring of diseases and pests that threaten rice crops. This paper aims to provide insights into current and future trends in remote sensing for rice crop monitoring. First, we expound the mechanism of remote sensing monitoring of rice diseases and pests and introduce the applications of different commonly data sources (hyperspectral data, multispectral data, thermal infrared data, fluorescence, and multi-source data fusion) in remote sensing monitoring of rice diseases and pests. Secondly, we summarize current methods for monitoring rice diseases and pests, including statistical discriminant type, machine learning, and deep learning algorithm. Finally, we provide a general framework to facilitate the monitoring of rice diseases or pests, which provides ideas and technical guidance for remote sensing monitoring of unknown diseases and pests, and we point out the challenges and future development directions of rice disease and pest remote sensing monitoring. Artificial intelligence (AI) is an interdisciplinary field that encompasses a wide range of computer science disciplines, including image recognition, machine learning, human−computer interaction, robotics and so on. Recently, AI, especially deep learning algorithms, has shown excellent performance in the field of image recognition, being able to automatically perform quantitative evaluation of complex medical image features to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. AI has a wider and deeper application in the medical field of diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) occurs frequently in southern China and Southeast Asian countries and is the most common head and neck cancer in the region. Detecting and treating NPC early is crucial for a good prognosis. This paper describes the basic concepts of AI, including traditional machine learning and deep learning algorithms, and their clinical applications of detecting and assessing NPC lesions, facilitating treatment and predicting prognosis. The main limitations of current AI technologies are briefly described, including interpretability issues, privacy and security and the need for large amounts of annotated data. High-rise building areas (HRBs) provide significant social and environmental services and play a crucial role in modern urbanization. The large-scale and long-term spatial distribution of HRBs is of great interest to many fields, such as urban planning and local climate analysis. While previous studies have confirmed the value of Sentinel-2 images in extracting HRBs and their changes, current work is limited to relatively local areas and short-term analysis. One reason is due to the fact that the earliest Sentinel-2 image can only date back to 2015. To address this research gap, this paper proposes an efficient procedure to intelligently extract HRBs and their changes from multitemporal Landsat-7 and Sentinel-2 images, using a specifically designed fully convolutional network. To validate the proposed method, we selected four typical cities in China, namely, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Zhengzhou, as study areas. We utilized Landsat-7 images acquired in 2000 and 2010, along with Sentinel-2 images acquired in 2020, as experimental data. We extracted and analyzed three periods of HRBs and their changes in the four cities, along with urban rail terminal data and gross domestic product (GDP) data in the same period. The results show that the proposed method can efficiently extract HRBs and their changes in the four cities over the past 20 years, with an overall accuracy of more than 90%. HRBs changes are primarily driven by urban planning policies and geographical factors. There is a strong positive correlation between the increase in HRBs and the increase in rail terminals, both in terms of quantity and spatial distribution. Additionally, there is a positive correlation between HRBs increase and GDP increase in terms of quantity, but the trend varies in different cities due to their diverse developing modes. The classification that distinguishes whether machines are driving on roads or working in fields based on their global navigation satellite system (GNSS) trajectories is essential for effective management of cross-regional agricultural machinery services in China. In this paper, a novel field–road classification method utilizing multiple deep neural networks (MultiDNN) is proposed to enhance the accuracy of field and road point classification. The MultiDNN model incorporates a bi-directional long short-term memory network (BiLSTM), a topology adaptive graph convolution network (TAG), and a self-attention network (ATT) to effectively extract spatio-temporal features for field–road classification. The BiLSTM is used to capture temporal relationships along the time axis of a trajectory, providing global contextual information for each point. Then, the TAG network is used to obtain the spatio-temporal relationships between adjacent points in a trajectory, offering local contextual information for each point. Finally, the ATT network assigns varying weights to features to emphasize important characteristics. The performance of the MultiDNN model was evaluated using a wheat harvesting trajectory dataset, and the results showed that it achieved a high degree of accuracy, up to 89.75%, outperforming the best baseline method (GCN) by 2.79%. Extracting high-accuracy landslide areas using deep learning methods from high spatial resolution remote sensing images is a hot topic in current research. However, the existing deep learning algorithms are affected by background noise and landslide scale effects during the extraction process, leading to poor feature extraction effects. To address this issue, this paper proposes an improved mask regions-based convolutional neural network (Mask R-CNN) model to identify the landslide distribution in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) images. The improvement of the model mainly includes three aspects: (1) an attention mechanism of the convolutional block attention module (CBAM) is added to the backbone residual neural network (ResNet). (2) A bottom-up channel is added to the feature pyramidal network (FPN) module. (3) The region proposal network (RPN) is replaced by guided anchoring (GA-RPN). Sanming City, China was selected as the study area for the experiments. The experimental results show that the improved model has a recall of 91.4% and an accuracy of 92.6%, which is 12.9% and 10.9% higher than the original Mask R-CNN model, respectively, indicating that the improved model is more effective in landslide extraction. Frequent outbreaks of cyanobacterial blooms have become one of the most challenging water ecosystem issues and a critical concern in environmental protection. To overcome the poor stability of traditional detection algorithms, this paper proposes a method for detecting cyanobacterial blooms based on a deep-learning algorithm. An improved vegetation-index method based on a multispectral image taken by an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) was adopted to extract inconspicuous spectral features of cyanobacterial blooms. To enhance the recognition accuracy of cyanobacterial blooms in complex scenes with noise such as reflections and shadows, an improved transformer model based on a feature-enhancement module and pixel-correction fusion was employed. The algorithm proposed in this paper was implemented in several rivers in China, achieving a detection accuracy of cyanobacterial blooms of more than 85%. The estimate of the proportion of the algae bloom contamination area and the severity of pollution were basically accurate. Simple Summary: Poultry farming is an important part of China's agriculture system. The automatic estimation of poultry posture can help to analyze the movement, behavior, and even health of poultry. In this study, a poultry pose-estimation system was designed, which realized the automatic pose estimation of a single broiler chicken using a multi-part detection method. The experimental results show that this method can obtain better pose-estimation results for a single broiler chicken with respect to precision, recall, and F1 score. The pose-estimation system designed in this study provides a new means to provide help for poultry pose/behavior researchers in the future. Poultry pose estimation is a prerequisite for evaluating abnormal behavior and disease prediction in poultry. Accurate pose-estimation enables poultry producers to better manage their poultry. Because chickens are group-fed, how to achieve automatic poultry pose recognition has become a problematic point for accurate monitoring in large-scale farms. To this end, based on computer vision technology, this paper uses a deep neural network (DNN) technique to estimate the posture of a single broiler chicken. This method compared the pose detection results with the Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD) algorithm, You Only Look Once (YOLOV3) algorithm, RetinaNet algorithm, and Faster_R-CNN algorithm. Preliminary tests show that the method proposed in this paper achieves a 0.0128 standard deviation of precision and 0.9218 ± 0.0048 of confidence (95%) and a 0.0266 standard deviation of recall and 0.8996 ± 0.0099 of confidence (95%). By successfully estimating the pose of broiler chickens, it is possible to facilitate the detection of abnormal behavior of poultry. Unregulated livestock breeding and grazing can degrade grasslands and damage the ecological environment. The combination of remote sensing and artificial intelligence techniques is a more convenient and powerful means to acquire livestock information in a large area than traditional manual ground investigation. As a mainstream remote sensing platform, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can obtain high-resolution optical images to detect grazing livestock in grassland. However, grazing livestock objects in UAV images usually occupy very few pixels and tend to gather together, which makes them difficult to detect and count automatically. This paper proposes the GLDM (grazing livestock detection model), a lightweight and high-accuracy deep-learning model, for detecting grazing livestock in UAV images. The enhanced CSPDarknet (ECSP) and weighted aggregate feature re-extraction pyramid modules (WAFR) are constructed to improve the performance based on the YOLOX-nano network scheme. The dataset of different grazing livestock (12,901 instances) for deep learning was made from UAV images in the Hadatu Pasture of Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, China. The results show that the proposed method achieves a higher comprehensive detection precision than mainstream object detection models and has an advantage in model size. The m A P of the proposed method is 86.47%, with the model parameter 5.7 M. The average recall and average precision can be above 85% at the same time. The counting accuracy of grazing livestock in the testing dataset, when converted to a unified sheep unit, reached 99%. The scale applicability of the model is also discussed, and the GLDM could perform well with the image resolution varying from 2.5 to 10 cm. Timely and accurate crop yield information can ensure regional food security. In the field of predicting crop yields, deep learning techniques such as long short-term memory (LSTM) and convolutional neural networks (CNN) are frequently employed. Many studies have shown that the predictions of models combining the two are better than those of single models. Crop growth can be reflected by the vegetation index calculated using data from remote sensing. However, the use of pure remote sensing data alone ignores the spatial heterogeneity of different regions. In this paper, we tested a total of three models, CNN-LSTM, CNN and convolutional LSTM (ConvLSTM), for predicting the annual rice yield at the county level in Hubei Province, China. The model was trained by ERA5 temperature (AT) data, MODIS remote sensing data including the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) and Soil-Adapted Vegetation Index (SAVI), and a dummy variable representing spatial heterogeneity; rice yield data from 2000–2019 were employed as labels. Data download and processing were based on Google Earth Engine (GEE). The downloaded remote sensing images were processed into normalized histograms for the training and prediction of deep learning models. According to the experimental findings, the model that included a dummy variable to represent spatial heterogeneity had a stronger predictive ability than the model trained using just remote sensing data. Deep learning has drawn great attention in the financial field due to its powerful ability in nonlinear fitting, especially in the studies of asset pricing. In this paper, we proposed a long short-term memory option pricing model with realized skewness by fully considering the asymmetry of asset return in emerging markets. It was applied to price the ETF50 options of China. In order to emphasize the improvement of this model, a comparison with a parametric method, such as Black-Scholes (BS), and machine learning methods, such as support vector machine (SVM), random forests and recurrent neural network (RNN), was conducted. Moreover, we also took the characteristic of heavy tail into consideration and studied the effect of realized kurtosis on pricing to prove the robustness of the skewness. The empirical results indicate that realized skewness significantly improves the pricing performance of LSTM among moneyness states except for in-the-money call options. Weather radars are commonly used to track the development of convective storms due to their high resolution and accuracy. However, the coverage of existing weather radar is very limited, especially in mountainous and ocean areas. Geostationary meteorological satellites can provide near global coverage and near real-time observations, which can compensate for the lack of radar observations. In this paper, a deep learning method was used to estimate the radar composite reflectivity from observations of China's new-generation geostationary meteorological satellite FY-4A and topographic data. The derived radar reflectivity products from satellite observations can be used over regions without radar coverage. In general, the deep learning model can reproduce the overall position, shape, and intensity of the radar echoes. In addition, evaluation of the reconstruction radar observations indicates that a modified model based on the attention mechanism (Attention U-Net model) has better performance than the traditional U-Net model in terms of all statistics such as the probability of detection (POD), critical success index (CSI), and root-mean-square error (RMSE), and the modified model has stronger capability on reconstructing details and strong echoes. However, this has become difficult due to the intermittency and instability of PV power data. This paper introduces a deep learning framework based on 7.5 min-ahead and 15 min-ahead approaches to predict short-term PV power. Specifically, we propose a hybrid model based on singular spectrum analysis (SSA) and bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) networks with the Bayesian optimization (BO) algorithm. To begin, the SSA decomposes the PV power series into several sub-signals. Then, the BO algorithm automatically adjusts hyperparameters for the deep neural network architecture. Following that, parallel BiLSTM networks predict the value of each component. Finally, the prediction of the sub-signals is summed to generate the final prediction results. The performance of the proposed model is investigated using two datasets collected from real-world rooftop stations in eastern China. The 7.5 min-ahead predictions generated by the proposed model can reduce up to 380.51% error, and the 15 min-ahead predictions decrease by up to 296.01% error. China's economy has made significant strides in the past three decades. As a direct result of China's "one belt, one road" (OBOR) initiative, the country's rate of industrialization and urbanization is currently the fastest in the entire world. This rapid development is largely dependent on the enormous amounts of energy currently being consumed and forms the foundation of the world's high levels of carbon emissions. It is generally agreed that the production of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide, is the primary contributor to the current state of climate change. In this paper, a CO2 emission prediction model based on Bi-LSTM is constructed. In order to conduct empirical tests on the model, this study uses data from South Asian countries and China from 2001 to 2020. China's CO2 emissions from 2022 to 2030 were predicted along with those of other countries in order to study the combined effects of the scientific and technological progress, industrial structures, and energy structure factors affecting CO2 emissions. When compared with the LSTM and GRU methods, the Bi-LSTM model's results produced lower MAE, MSE, and MAPE values, indicating that it performs better. According to the findings, carbon emissions represent a significant problem that will become much worse in the future due to China and India's high emissions, particularly in the next 10 years, if the government does not implement policies that help reduce those emissions. It is an objective reality that deaf-mute people have difficulty seeking medical treatment. Due to the lack of sign language interpreters, most hospitals in China currently do not have the ability to interpret sign language. Normal medical treatment is a luxury for deaf people. In this paper, we propose a sign language recognition system: Heart-Speaker. Heart-Speaker is applied to a deaf-mute consultation scenario. The system provides a low-cost solution for the difficult problem of treating deaf-mute patients. The doctor only needs to point the Heart-Speaker at the deaf patient and the system automatically captures the sign language movements and translates the sign language semantics. When a doctor issues a diagnosis or asks a patient a question, the system displays the corresponding sign language video and subtitles to meet the needs of two-way communication between doctors and patients. The system uses the MobileNet-YOLOv3 model to recognize sign language. It meets the needs of running on embedded terminals and provides favorable recognition accuracy. We performed experiments to verify the accuracy of the measurements. The experimental results show that the accuracy rate of Heart-Speaker in recognizing sign language can reach 90.77%. This paper focuses on the scientific problem of quantitative mineralization prediction at large depth in the Zaozigou gold deposit, west Qinling, China. Five geological and geochemical indicators are used to establish geological and geochemical quantitative prediction model. Machine learning and Deep learning algorithms are employed for 3D Mineral Prospectivity Mapping (MPM). Especially, the Student Teacher Ore-induced Anomaly Detection (STOAD) model is proposed based on the knowledge distillation (KD) idea combined with Deep Auto-encoder (DAE) network model. Compared to DAE, STOAD uses three outputs for anomaly detection and can make full use of information from multiple levels of data for greater overall robustness. The results show that the quantitative mineral resources prediction by applying the STOAD model has a good performance, where the value of Area Under Curve (AUC) is 0.97. Dynamic monitoring of building environments is essential for observing rural land changes and socio-economic development, especially in agricultural countries, such as China. Rapid and accurate building extraction and floor area estimation at the village level are vital for the overall planning of rural development and intensive land use and the "beautiful countryside" construction policy in China. Traditional in situ field surveys are an effective way to collect building information but are time-consuming and labor-intensive. Moreover, rural buildings are usually covered by vegetation and trees, leading to incomplete boundaries. This paper proposes a comprehensive method to perform village-level homestead area estimation by combining unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry and deep learning technology. First, to tackle the problem of complex surface feature scenes in remote sensing images, we proposed a novel Efficient Deep-wise Spatial Attention Network (EDSANet), which uses dual attention extraction and attention feature refinement to aggregate multi-level semantics and enhance the accuracy of building extraction, especially for high-spatial-resolution imagery. Qualitative and quantitative experiments were conducted with the newly built dataset (named the rural Weinan building dataset) with different deep learning networks to examine the performance of the EDSANet model in the task of rural building extraction. Then, the number of floors of each building was estimated using the normalized digital surface model (nDSM) generated from UAV oblique photogrammetry. The floor area of the entire village was rapidly calculated by multiplying the area of each building in the village by the number of floors. The case study was conducted in Helan village, Shannxi province, China. The results show that the overall accuracy of the building extraction from UAV images with the EDSANet model was 0.939 and that the precision reached 0.949. The buildings in Helan village primarily have two stories, and their total floor area is 3.1 × 105 m2. The field survey results verified that the accuracy of the nDSM model was 0.94; the RMSE was 0.243. The proposed workflow and experimental results highlight the potential of UAV oblique photogrammetry and deep learning for rapid and efficient village-level building extraction and floor area estimation in China, as well as worldwide. Using deep learning-based object detection algorithms for landslide hazards detection is very popular and effective. However, most existing algorithms are designed for landslides in a specific geographical range. This paper constructs a set of landslide detection models YOLOX-Pro, based on the improved YOLOX (You Only Look Once) target detection model to address the poor detection of complex mixed landslides. Wherein the VariFocal is used to replace the binary cross entropy in the original classification loss function to solve the uneven distribution of landslide samples and improve the detection recall; the coordinate attention (CA) mechanism is added to enhance the detection accuracy. Firstly, 1200 historical landslide optical remote sensing images in thirty-eight areas of China were extracted from Google Earth to create a mixed sample set for landslide detection. Next, the three attention mechanisms were compared to form the YOLOX-Pro model. Then, we tested the performance of YOLOX-Pro by comparing it with four models: YOLOX, YOLOv5, Faster R-CNN, and Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD). The results show that the YOLOX-Pro(m) has significantly improved the detection accuracy of complex and small landslides than the other models, with an average precision (AP0.75) of 51.5%, APsmall of 36.50%, and ARsmall of 49.50%. In addition, optical remote sensing images of a 12.32 km 2 group-occurring landslides area located in Mibei village, Longchuan County, Guangdong, China, and 750 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) images collected from the Internet were also used for landslide detection. The research results proved that the proposed method has strong generalization and good detection performance for many types of landslides, which provide a technical reference for the broad application of landslide detection using UAV. With the continuous development of engineering construction in China, more and more large-section highway tunnels have emerged. Different geological engineering environments determine the diversity of construction plans. The determination of construction plans and the prediction of tunnel deformations have always been the key points of engineering construction. In this paper, we use numerical simulations to determine specific construction parameters in the context of actual highway tunnel projects, and then use deep learning methods to predict deformation during tunnel construction, thus providing guidance for construction. We have found that: (i) Different excavation sequences and excavation depths have different effects on the surrounding rock deformation around the tunnel. The optimal excavation sequence through numerical simulation in this study is symmetrical excavation, and the excavation depth is 2 m. (ii) Numerical simulation based on Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm is used to predict the tunnel deformation. It is found that the prediction results of the LSTM algorithm are more consistent with the actual monitoring data. (iii) Multi-step prediction is more important for engineering guidance, and three-step prediction can be considered during the process of engineering construction. In recent years, garbage classification has become a hot topic in China, and legislation on garbage classification has been proposed. Proper garbage classification and improving the recycling rate of garbage can protect the environment and save resources. In order to effectively achieve garbage classification, a lightweight garbage object detection model based on deep learning techniques was designed and developed in this study, which can locate and classify garbage objects in real-time using embedded devices. Focusing on the problems of low accuracy and poor real-time performances in garbage classification, we proposed a lightweight garbage object detection model, YOLOG (YOLO for garbage detection), which is based on accurate local receptive field dilation and can run on embedded devices at high speed and with high performance. YOLOG improves on YOLOv4 in three key ways, including the design of DCSPResNet with accurate local receptive field expansion based on dilated–deformable convolution, network structure simplification, and the use of new activation functions. We collected the domestic garbage image dataset, then trained and tested the model on it. Finally, in order to compare the performance difference between YOLOG and existing state-of-the-art algorithms, we conducted comparison experiments using a uniform data set training model. The experimental results showed that YOLOG achieved A P 0.5 of 94.58% and computation of 6.05 Gflops, thus outperformed YOLOv3, YOLOv4, YOLOv4-Tiny, and YOLOv5s in terms of comprehensive performance indicators. Soil salinization has become one of the major environmental problems threatening food security. The identification and knowledge of the spatial distributions of soil salinization are key in addressing this problem. This study assumes that a good saline land identification effect can be obtained with the help of deep learning methods. Therefore, this study used the OLI sensor data from the Landsat-8, based on the U2-Network, and proposes a method to extract saline land from remote sensing images. The study also adds different salinity indices (SI, SI1, and SI2) to explore its impact on classification accuracy. Through our method, accurate saline soil distribution information were obtained, and several verification indicators (the Intersection-over-Union (IoU), recall, precision, and F1-score) were all measured above 0.8. In addition, compared with the multi-spectral training results, the classification accuracy increased after adding a specific salinity index, and most of the accuracy indices increased by about 2% (the IoU increased by 3.70%, recall increased by 1.50%, precision increased by 2.81%, and F1-score increased by 2.13%). In addition, we also included a case study based on our methodology to analyze the distribution characteristics and changes of saline soil in the Zhenlai area of Northeast China from 2016 to 2020. We found that the area of saline land in the Zhenlai area has reduced, which shows that the extraction method proposed in this study is feasible. Overall, this paper indicates that deep learning-based methods can efficiently extract the salinity of soil and enhance the mapping of its spatial distribution. The study has the broad impact of supplementing satellite imagery for salinity modeling and helping to guide agricultural land management practices for northeastern China and other salinized regions. The Loess Plateau is an ecologically fragile area in China; furthermore, loess landslides are typical forms of geological disasters, which severely limit the sustainable development of the local societies and the economy. Studying the automatic detection of landslides can facilitate disaster prevention and mitigation in the Loess Plateau, and help realize the climate action goal (SDG 13) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This paper takes typical loess areas in China as the research object, and establishes a historical loess landslide sample database based on Google Earth (GEE) image data, with a total of 1451 loess landslides. The automatic detection of loess landslides is implemented by improving the You Only Look Once X (YOLOX) algorithm. The results show that the average accuracy of landslide detection in this method is 95.43%, and the accuracy rate is 96.32%, which effectively combines the earth's big data to realize the automatic detection of loess landslides. The research results provide technical support for the promotion of disaster prevention and mitigation in China's loess regions, the realization of sustainable development goals, and the improvement of natural disaster prevention–resistance–reduction systems. The geometric registration of mountainous remote sensing images is always a challenging project, as terrain fluctuations increase the complexity. Deep learning, with its superior computing power and data-driven nature, promises to solve this problem. However, the lack of an appropriate dataset limits the development of deep learning technology for mountainous remote sensing image registration, which it still an unsolved problem in photogrammetry and remote sensing. To remedy this problem, this paper presents a manually constructed imagery dataset of mountainous regions, called the MID (mountainous imagery dataset). To create the MID, we use 38 images from the Gaofen-2 satellite developed by China and generated 4093 pairs of reference and sensed image patches, making this the first real mountainous dataset to our knowledge. Simultaneously, we propose a fully unsupervised, convolutional-network-based iterative registration scheme for the MID. First, the large and global deformation of the reference and sensed images is reduced using an affine registration module, generating the coarse alignment. Then, the local and varied distortions are learned and eliminated progressively using a hybrid dilated convolution (HDC)-based encoder–decoder module with multistep iterations, achieving fine registration results. The HDC aims to increase the receptive field without blocking the artifacts, allowing for the continuous characteristics of the mountainous images of a local region to be represented. We provide a performance analysis of some typical registration algorithms and the developed approach for the MID. The proposed scheme gives the highest registration precision, achieving the subpixel alignment of mountainous remote sensing images. Additionally, the experimental results demonstrate the usability of the MID, which can lay a foundation for the development of deep learning technology in large mountainous remote sensing image registration tasks. The unidirectional consolidation theory of soils is widely used in certain conditions and approximate calculations. The multidirectional theory of soil consolidation is more reasonable than the unidirectional theory in practical applications but is much more complicated in terms of index determination and solution. To address the above problem, in this paper, we propose a deep learning method using physics-informed neural networks (PINN) to predict the excess pore water pressure of two-dimensional soil consolidation. In the proposed method, (1) a fully connected neural network is constructed; (2) the computational domain, partial differential equation (PDE), and constraints are defined to generate data for model training; and (3) the PDE of two-dimensional soil consolidation and the model of the neural network are connected to reduce the loss of the model. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by comparison with the numerical solution of PDE for two-dimensional consolidation. Moreover, the FEM and the proposed PINN-based method are applied to predict the consolidation of foundation soils in a real case of Sichuan Railway in China, and the results are quite consistent. In this paper, we forecast the regional total electron content (TEC) over China (0–60° N, 70–140° E) two hours in advance using a deep learning method called pix2pixhd that is based on Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). We use the International GNSS Service (IGS) TEC maps over China during the 2003–2018 period for training and divide the data into three parts: a training set (2003–2013), a test set (2014–2017), and a validation set (2018). We evaluate the prediction effect of our model using Root Mean Square Error and correlation coefficient and compare our model with IRI-2016. The result demonstrates that our model shows a good performance for TEC prediction in China. Under different geomagnetic and solar activity conditions, the performance of our model is always better than IRI-2016. Analyzing the average difference map between the output of our model and the target IGS TEC map (+2 h), our model behaves well in China including the low-latitude region. In addition, our model behaves better during quiet time and high solar activity years. The successful application of pix2pixhd in forecasting the regional TEC maps over China demonstrates that deep learning methods can solve many geoscience problems, especially for ionospheric parameter forecasting.
