Accurately estimating the gas-flow rate at a wellhead to invert the formation pressure and production capacity information can be the basis for subsequent well-killing parameter design following oil and gas-well drilling blowout and ignition. Based on the multicomponent characteristics of the blowout gas and the turbulence intensity of the blowout flame, as well as the effects of complex factors such as environmental wind direction, wind speed, and wellhead structure, a numerical model for actual drilling blowout ignition is established. Jet-flame experiments are conducted under blowout conditions to verify the accuracy of the model. The temperature and radiation fields and flame morphologies of the well jet flow flame under different lateral wind speeds, well jet flow rates, and wellhead diameters are analyzed. Previous studies have found that as the lateral wind speed increases, the maximum temperature and maximum thermal radiation intensity of the blowout flame first decrease and then increase. However, as the amount of well jet increases, although the flame influence area increases, the maximum temperature does not increase significantly, and the maximum thermal radiation intensity actually decreases. Based on experimental and numerical simulation datasets, a high-yield gas-well jet volume prediction method based on the flame height and thermal radiation intensity of the well jet flow is constructed, which has important engineering application value for achieving successful well killing following well jet ignition. In the solar reflective band, an on-board calibration method based on a solar diffuser (SD) can realize full aperture, full field of view, and end-to-end absolute radiometric calibration of optical remote sensors. The SD's bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) is a key parameter that affects the accuracy of the on-board calibration. High-accuracy measurement of the SD BRDF is required in the laboratory before launch. Due to the uncertainty of the goniometer system, polarization effects, and other factors, the measurement uncertainty of the SD BRDF at large incident angles is much higher than that at a 0° incident zenith angle and 45° reflection zenith angle. In this paper, an absolute BRDF measurement facility is reported. The goniometric system consists of a high-brightness integrating sphere as a radiation source, a six-axis robot arm, and a large rotation stage. The measurement wavelength range was from 350 nm to 2400 nm. An improved data processing method based on the reciprocity theorem was proposed to reduce the measurement uncertainty of the SD BRDF at large incident angles. At an incident zenith angle of 75°, the improved data processing method reduced the measurement uncertainty of the SD BRDF by 52% at 410 nm to 480 nm, by 70% at 480 nm to 1000 nm, and by 20% at other bands compared to the absolute measurement method. The influence of the radiation source, goniometer system, detection system, and other factors on the measurement uncertainty are analyzed in this paper. The results show that the measurement uncertainty (coverage factor k = 2) of the SD BRDF was better than 1.04% at 350 nm to 410 nm, 0.60% at 410 nm to 480 nm, 0.43% at 480 nm to 1000 nm, and 0.86% at 1000 nm to 2400 nm. Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease characterized by the destruction of connective tissue and alveolar bone that eventually leads to tooth loss. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent regulated cell death and is involved in ligature-induced periodontitis in vivo. Studies have demonstrated that curcumin has a potential therapeutic effect on periodontitis, but the mechanism is still unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective effects of curcumin on alleviating ferroptosis in periodontitis. Ligature-induced periodontal-diseased mice were used to detect the protective effect of curcumin. The level of superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) and total glutathione (GSH) in gingiva and alveolar bone were assayed. Furthermore, the mRNA expression levels of acsl4, slc7a11, gpx4 and tfr1 were measured using qPCR and the protein expression of ACSL4, SLC7A11, GPX4 and TfR1 were investigated by Western blot and immunocytochemistry (IHC). Curcumin reduced the level of MDA and increased the level of GSH. Additionally, curcumin was proven to significantly increase the expression levels of SLC7A11 and GPX4 and inhibit the expression of ACSL4 and TfR1. Direct power control (DPC) has gained increasing attention in recent years as a simple and efficient control strategy for pulse width modulation (PWM) rectifiers. In this paper, the idea of DPC is introduced into the three-phase coupled inductor-based bipolar-output active rectifier (TCIBAR) for the first time, and a virtual vector-based direct power control (VVB-DPC) strategy is proposed for TCIBAR to realize the bipolar DC power supply for more electric aircraft (MEA). First, the mathematical model of the TCIBAR is deduced, and the basic principle of the classic DPC strategy is reviewed. On this basis, the limitations of the classic DPC strategy in TCIBAR control are analyzed. Second, a set of virtual vectors are derived to establish a novel virtual-vector switching table. Based on the virtual-vector switching table, the hysteresis power control of TCIBAR can be realized without affecting the DC-side neutral-point potential of TCIBAR. Finally, a neutral-point potential control method based on DPC architecture is studied and integrated into the VVB-DPC strategy to maintain the bipolar DC voltage balance of TCIBAR under unbalanced load conditions. This paper presents a novel direct power control (DPC) strategy based on an optimized sector division for a three-phase coupled inductor-based bipolar output active rectifier (TCIBAR) applied in more electric aircraft (MEA). First, based on the instantaneous power theory, the power model of the TCIBAR is built in the synchronous rotating coordinate system. Second, to implement the hysteresis power control of TCIBAR without causing the runaway of the zero-sequence current in the three-phase coupled inductor (TCI), a set of new voltage vectors that have the same zero-sequence voltage (ZSV) component are synthesized and adopted in the proposed DPC strategy. Third, by quantitatively analyzing the effect of the new synthesized voltage vectors on the power variation of TCIBAR, an optimized sector division method is proposed to improve the accuracy of power control and reduce the phase current harmonics in TCIBAR. Finally, to maintain the voltage balance of the bipolar dc ports in TCIBAR, voltage balance control is studied in the proposed DPC strategy. The proposed DPC strategy is researched on an experimental platform of TCIBAR, and the results show that the proposed DPC strategy is feasible and has good static and dynamic performance. In this paper, a novel one-way single-wire power transfer structure is proposed. Different from the traditional single-wire power transfer system, power is one-way transmitted from the power source to the load, and no loop is constituted. The structure of one-way single-wire power transfer is studied in detail, and the influences of its length and shapes on the transmission efficiency are determined. Research shows that the length of the receiving structure plays a key role in improving the system's efficiency, while the transmitting structure has a little effect. Based on ensuring transmission efficiency, the space volume optimization method is further applied. Vicarious calibration is a well-developed method for electro-optical (EO) sensor calibration that has been used since the early 1980s. The radiometric calibration of reflectance solar band is mainly applied to reflection inversion. In this paper, a radiometric calibration-reflectance inversion (RCRII) model is proposed as an improved vicarious calibration method. Taking the reflectance of grayscale targets with constant spectrum, suitable uniformity, and near-Lambertian characteristics as the known information, the grayscale target calibration is realized, and the initial value of calibration coefficient and offset are calculated. Then, the adjacency effect is evaluated and corrected by reflectance inversion, and the results are fed back to the calibration process to realize the iterative process of calibration inversion rescaling. The results indicate that the absolute difference between the reflectance calculated with the RCRII model and measured reflectance is less than 0.01. By comparing with Sentinel-2A images, it is cross-verified that the difference of radiance between them is within 4%, and the absolute reflectance difference is less than 0.01, in the range of 0.1~0.3 reflectance. Vehicle re-identification (Re-ID) research has intensified as numerous advancements have been made along with the rapid development of person Re-ID. In this paper, we tackle the vehicle Re-ID problem in open scenarios. This research differs from the early-stage studies that focused on a certain view, and it faces more challenges due to view variations, illumination changes, occlusions, etc. Inspired by the research of person Re-ID, we propose leveraging pose view to enhance the discrimination performance of visual features and utilizing keypoints to improve the accuracy of pose recognition. However, the visual appearance information is still limited by the changing surroundings and extremely similar appearances of vehicles. To the best of our knowledge, few methods have been aware of the spatio-temporal information to supplement visual appearance information, but they neglect the influence of the driving direction. Considering the peculiar characteristic of vehicle movements, we observe that vehicles' poses on camera views indicating their directions are closely related to spatio-temporal cues. Consequently, we design a two-branch framework for vehicle Re-ID, including a Keypoint-based Pose Embedding Visual (KPEV) model and a Keypoint-based Pose-Guided Spatio-Temporal (KPGST) model. These models are integrated into the framework, and the results of KPEV and KPGST are fused based on a Bayesian network. Extensive experiments performed on the VeRi-776 and VehicleID datasets related to functional urban surveillance scenarios demonstrate the competitive performance of our proposed approach. A partial aperture onboard calibration method can solve the onboard calibration problems of some large aperture remote sensors, which is of great significance for the development trend of increasingly large apertures in optical remote sensors. In this paper, the solar diffuser reflectance degradation monitor (SDRDM) in the onboard calibration assembly (CA) of the FengYun-4 (FY-4) advanced geostationary radiance imager (AGRI) was used as the reference radiometer. It was designed for measuring the partial aperture factor (PAF) for the AGRI onboard calibration. First, the linear response count variation relationship between the two was established under the same radiance source input. Then, according to the known bidirectional reflection distribution function (BRDF) of the solar diffuser (SD) in the CA, the relative reflectance ratio coefficient between the AGRI observation direction and the SDRDM observation direction was calculated. On this basis, the response count value of the AGRI and the SDRDM was used to realize the high-precision measurement of the PAF of the AGRI B1~B3 bands by simulating the AGRI onboard calibration measurement under the illumination of a solar simulator in the laboratory. According to the determination process of the relevant parameters of the PAF, the measurement uncertainty of the PAF was analyzed; this uncertainty was greater than 2.04% and provided an important reference for the evaluation of the onboard absolute radiometric calibration uncertainty after launch. Person re-identification (ReID) plays a crucial role in video surveillance with the aim to search a specific person across disjoint cameras, and it has progressed notably in recent years. However, visible cameras may not be able to record enough information about the pedestrian's appearance under the condition of low illumination. On the contrary, thermal infrared images can significantly mitigate this issue. To this end, combining visible images with infrared images is a natural trend, and are considerably heterogeneous modalities. Some attempts have recently been contributed to visible-infrared person re-identification (VI-ReID). This paper provides a complete overview of current VI-ReID approaches that employ deep learning algorithms. To align with the practical application scenarios, we first propose a new testing setting and systematically evaluate state-of-the-art methods based on our new setting. Then, we compare ReID with VI-ReID in three aspects, including data composition, challenges, and performance. According to the summary of previous work, we classify the existing methods into two categories. Additionally, we elaborate on frequently used datasets and metrics for performance evaluation. We give insights on the historical development and conclude the limitations of off-the-shelf methods. We finally discuss the future directions of VI-ReID that the community should further address. Porous MnO2 was uniformly electrodeposited on nickel foam in MnSO4 solution, which was applied as the electrode of supercapacitors. The nucleation/growth mechanisms of porous MnO2 were investigated firstly. Then two kinds of electrochemical measuring technologies, corresponding to the cycle voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge, were adopted to assess the electrochemical performance of MnO2 electrodes. The results demonstrated that the deposition of MnO2 on nickel foam included four stages. Prior to the deposition, an extremely short incubation period of about 2 s was observed (the first stage). Then the exposed nickel foam was instantly covered by a large number of MnO2 crystal nuclei and crystal nuclei connected with each other in a very short time of about 3 s (the second stage). Nucleation predominated in the second stage. The sharply rise of current was caused by the increase in substrate surface area which due to nucleation of MnO2. Grain boundaries grew preferentially due to their high energy, accompanied with a honeycomb-like structure with the higher surface area was formed. However, accompanied with the electrochemical reactions gradually diffusion-controlled, the current presented the decline trend with increasing the time (the third stage). When the electrochemical reactions were completely diffusion-controlled, the porous MnO2 coating with an approximately constant surface area was formed (the fourth stage). MnO2 coatings deposited for different time (30, 60, 120, 300 s) exhibited a similar specific capacitance (CV: about 224 F/g; galvanostatic charge-discharge: about 264 F/g). Voltage-gated sodium (NaV) channels generate and propagate action potentials in excitable cells, and several NaV subtypes have become important targets for pain management. The μ-conotoxins inhibit subtypes of the NaV with varied specificity but often lack of specificity to interested subtypes. Engineering the selectivity of the μ-conotoxins presents considerable complexity and challenge, as it involves the optimization of their binding affinities to multiple highly conserved NaV subtypes. In this study, a model of NaV1.4 bound with μ-conotoxin PIIIA complex was constructed using homology modeling, docking, molecular dynamic simulations and binding energy calculations. The accuracy of this model was confirmed based on the experimental mutagenesis data. The complex models of PIIIA bound with varied subtypes of NaV1.x (x = 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9) were built using NaV1.4/PIIIA complex as a template, and refined using molecular dynamic simulations. The binding affinities of PIIIA to varied subtypes of NaV1.x (x = 1 to 9) were calculated using the Molecular Mechanics Generalized Born/Surface Area (MMGB/SA) and umbrella sampling, and were compared with the experimental values. The binding affinities calculated using MMGB/SA and umbrella sampling are correlated with the experimental values, with the former and the latter giving correlation coefficient of 0.41 (R2) and 0.68 (R2), respectively. Binding energy decomposition suggests that conserved and nonconserved residues among varied NaV subtypes have a synergistic effect on the selectivity of PIIIA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The nucleation and growth mechanisms of porous MnO₂ coating deposited on graphite in MnSO₄ solution were investigated in detail by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and scanning electron microscopy. The electrochemical properties of honeycomb-like MnO₂ were evaluated by cycle voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge. Results indicated that MnO₂ was synthesized by the following steps: Mn 2+ → Mn 3+ + e⁻, Mn 3+ +2H2O → MnOOH + 3H⁺, and MnOOH → MnO₂ + H⁺+ e⁻. The deposition of MnO₂ was divided into four stages. A short incubation period (approximately 1.5 s) was observed, prior to nucleation. The decreasing trend of the current slowed as time increased due to nucleation and MnO₂ growth in the second stage. A huge number of nuclei were formed by instantaneous nucleation, and these nuclei grew and connected with one another at an exceedingly short time (0.5 s). In the third stage, the gaps in-between initial graphite flakes were filled with MnO₂ until the morphology of the flakes gradually became similar to that of the MnO₂-deposited layer. In the fourth stage, the graphite electrode was covered completely with a thick and dense layer of MnO₂ deposits. All MnO₂ electrodes at different deposition times obtained nearly the same specific capacitance of approximately 186 F/g, thus indicating that the specific capacitance of the electrodes is not related with deposition time., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflict of interest.

A simple electrophoretic deposition method was developed to prepare graphene oxide (GO) films on the frameworks of nickel foam without any conductive agents and polymer binders. Then, GO was transformed into thermally-reduced graphene oxide (RGO) at an appropriate temperature. The effects of deposition voltage and thermal reduction temperature on the electrochemical properties of RGO were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge. The appropriate combination of deposition voltage and thermal reduction temperature was established. Moreover, scanning electron microscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, differential thermal analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffractometry were applied to validate the results, which showed that the highest specific capacitance of RGO was obtained when the deposition voltage was 60 V and the thermal reduction temperature was 300 °C. The specific capacitance values calculated by CV and galvanostatic charge/discharge were 139 F·g -1 (0.005 V·s -1 ) and 151 F·g -1 (1 A·g -1 ), respectively. The specific capacitance of RGO maintained 55% and 66% of the initial value when the scan rate and the current density were increased up to 0.3 V·s -1 and 10 A·g -1 , respectively.
