Abstract

An essay is presented on the accountability of Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam and his government to the death of several political refugees during the fall of Saigon in Vietnam in 1975. It is critical on the lack of actions taken by Whitlam to protect refugees despite the possibility that the communist North would defeat the Saigon regime. It reflects on several news articles which showed the failure of Australia to perform its military commitment to South Vietnam.
