This paper reports results of mathematical modeling applied to the stress and strain in epicentral zones before and after the large earthquakes that occurred on June 22, 2002 in the Qazvin Province, northwestern Iran (Mw = 6.4) and the Gujarat, India earthquake of January 26, 2001 (M = 6.9). The modeling relied on a method for calculating stress and strain in a blocky elastic isotropic heterogeneous medium disturbed by a set of faults that are due to an external tectonic stress field. The boundary conditions were specified based on geological and seismological data. It has been shown that the epicenters of large crustal earthquakes occur in zones of high stress concentration at the ends of tectonic faults. Rupture occurs when the relationship between acting tectonic stresses satisfies the requirement σyy/σxx >3, thus connecting zones of high stress. The evolution of the aftershock process is controlled by the stress drop caused by a new rupture, while the resulting aftershock clusters are in spatial correlation with the stress drop zone. The new rupture propagates in the direction of dominant tectonic fault orientation in the region. We show a relationship to exist between rupture length and the possible retrospectively predicted location and magnitude of the earthquake depending on the elastic energy buildup and its possible release under specified structural tectonic conditions. We consider some characteristics of seismicity in the region of Southwest Alaska. The aftershock zones of the Simeonof (July 22, 2020, Mw = 7.8) and Chignik (July 29, 2021, Mw = 8.2) earthquakes are identified. The characteristics of ring-shaped seismicity structures, which formed in a few decades prior to the Chignik earthquake, are described. The location and magnitude of a large event, which could be prepared to the east of the Simeonof earthquake rupture zone, was predicted in (Kopnichev and Sokolova, 2021a) based on the parameters of these structures. An estimate of the expected magnitude (Mw = 8.2 ± 0.2) was obtained using correlation dependences between the parameters of ring-shaped structures and the magnitudes of large and great earthquakes that occurred in the East Pacific region. This forecast, which was made on the basis of the data obtained prior to October 21, 2020, was presented in the mentioned paper, which was accepted for publication before July 29, 2021. We consider possible changes of the parameters of ring-shaped structures immediately prior to the Chignik earthquake and discuss geodynamic processes that can lead to the formation of ring-shaped structures. It is a key to know mechanical environment (ME) of pre- and post-rupture fault of giant earthquakes at subduction zones for predicting earthquake and tsunami disaster. However, we know little about its details till now. In this paper, using the inverted stress change three hours before and three hours after the mainshock in the rupture zone of the 2011 Tohoku-Oki Mw 9.0 earthquake, we show a quantitative integrated ME in the rupture zone, including principal stress, pore-fluid pressure and friction strength. We discover from this environment a large asperity composed of two asperities induced by relatively high friction coefficients and relatively lower pore-fluid pressures. The integrate ME quantitatively explained the reasons of the overshoot and relatively lower shear strength of the trench, which caused huge displacement and tsunami at the trench. We suggest that the asperities favor the horst and graben structure system which provides a geology environment for interseismic stress accumulation and thus for breeding the megathrust tsunami earthquake. Central Tibet constitutes part of the central part of the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau, which is one of the highest seismically active areas in China. This paper discusses the regularity of seismic activity in this area. Based on a stratified viscoelastic earth model, we calculated the Coulomb stress changes imparted from four strong earthquakes (M ≥ 6.3) along the Bengco–southeastern piedmont of the Nyainqentanglha mountain fault zone in this region. The result shows that the study area may be entering a new active period from 2020. There was a trigger between the strong earthquakes (M ≥ 6.3) on the Bengco fault zone. The post-seismic viscous relaxation effect of a strong earthquake had a significant impact on subsequent earthquakes (M ≥ 6.3). In the next 100 years, the Coulomb stress loading is more than 1.0 MPa in the northwest section of the Bengco fault and the central part of Nimu segment of the southeastern piedmont of the Nyainqentanglha mountain fault. This paper presents the results of a detailed study of two relatively strong seismic events, occurred on November, 22, 2016 (МW = 5.0) and April 3, 2017 (МW = 4.8) at the northeastern flank of the Baikal rift zone in the areas of the South Muya and Kalar ranges. Both the events were followed by weak aftershocks (N = 178–539, Кр ≤ 11.0), whose epicenters were densely distributed over an area. The seismic moment tensors and hypocentral depths of the mainshocks were calculated from surface wave amplitude spectra. It has been shown that their sources were formed under the influence of the subhorizontal SE–NW extension and the subhorizontal or inclined NE–SW compression. Both the earthquakes were followed by noticeable macroseismic effects at epicentral distances up to 500 km. In the area of the Baikal−Amur Railway, their shaking intensity was IV–V MSK-64. The results obtained can be used in continuous seismic monitoring at the northeastern flank of the Baikal rift zone and can contribute to an objective seismic hazard assessment of the study area. The Chuya earthquake of 2003 exerted an appreciable influence on the seismicity of the entire Altai. This paper presents data on variations in the Altai seismicity from 2003 to 2021. It is shown that earthquakes of the first half-year after the major earthquake of 2003 had their rupture zones in the epicentral zone, while the other Altai structures were aseismic. After 2009 we saw changes both in the near zone that encompasses geological structures that were adjacent to the epicenter (with distances of 60‒80 km from the mainshock epicenter), such as the Aigulak, Kurai, South Chuisky and North Chuisky mountain ranges, and in the far zone at distances of 250‒450 km from the epicenter and in different directions from it. The Aigulak earthquake of 2019 gave rise to an aftershock process that displaced the center of Altai seismicity to the eponymous mountain range. There are no data on large earthquakes during the historical period for many Altai structures which have been activated following the Chuya earthquake, either from seismological or from paleo-geological evidence. One could explain the evolution of seismicity around the rupture zone of the Chuya earthquake in space, and with time delays of some years, invoking the influence of a large earthquake on a medium involving plasticity. The Kaikoura earthquake on November 14, 2016 is one of the largest and most complex earthquakes in New Zealand since 1947. Despite the fact that it has ruptured about 12 separate faults, triggered 2132 aftershocks within one week of the mainshock and induced considerable stress changes, few studies have been conducted to comprensively investigate the characteristics. The current study examines the horizontal and vertical displacements as well as the stress and gravity changes, aftershock distributions and also find out whether these changes affect the surrounding regions along the complex fault systems. The study covers the entire area affected by the Kaikoura event, which includes the northern part of the South Island and the southern part of the North Island. The dislocation theory was employed to evaluate the coseismic slip model on the multiple faults. The displacement results revealed that the maximum horizontal displacement is about 6 m and the vertical about 2 m, which are reasonably consistent with earlier study findings. Besides, the stress and gravity changes are quite complicated and inhomogeneous as evidenced by our coseismic model, demonstrating the complexity of the Kaikoura earthquake as well. Almost all the aftershocks are distributed in places where the stress and gravity change are found to be significant. In order to investigate the stability of our stress change models, we applied different friction coefficients and receiver fault parameters. The results justify the friction coefficient (μ=0.4) and the receiver fault parameters (230°, 70°, 150°) are suitable to define good stress change estimates. According to the stress change results at 15 km depth, the northern parts of the mainshock region, Hundalee fault, Humps fault and Jordan thrust areas together with the Wellington area are closer to failure and situated in a seismic risk zone. Earthquakes (mainshocks) trigger sequences of aftershocks, the frequency of which diminishes following a power-law decay, while the spatial domain of these aftershocks extends logarithmically over time. The delineation of the aftershock zone can be modulated by variables beyond the magnitude of the mainshock, encompassing the location of the fault (whether the fault is at a plate boundary), the depth at which the event occurs, and the prevailing local stress conditions. Here, we evaluate the expansion rate of aftershock zones by analyzing earthquakes of magnitude-7 class in the vicinity of the Japanese archipelago. Prior studies have offered approximate assessments of expansion rates; however, our approach involves the utilization of a straightforward algorithm for the automated estimation of this metric, facilitating the compilation of a catalog. Across the dataset, no pronounced correlations were discerned between the expansion rate and other examined parameters. Yet, an inverse relationship is identified between the expansion rate and the b value of aftershocks for mainshocks occurring at plate boundaries. This observation suggests that the expansion rate of aftershock zones predominantly mirrors the stress field following the mainshock. Such a pattern is not detected in mainshocks occurring within the plate's interior. While the expansion rate of aftershock zones is likely influenced by various factors, aftershock zones may expand more rapidly with higher differential stress in areas surrounding hypocenters of major interplate earthquakes of magnitude 8 or 9. We systematically investigate the identification and statistical characteristics of foreshock sequences in the North–South seismic belt (21 ~ 43°N, 97 ~ 107°E), which is the test area of China under the "Collaboratory for the Study of Earthquake Predictability (CSEP)," so as to provide data support for foreshock probability forecasting and monitoring deployment. In this paper, we use a stochastic declustering method based on a space–time epidemic-type aftershock sequence (ETAS) model to fit the real catalogs in the North–South seismic belt, and separate each catalog into stochastic versions of family trees, so as to identify the foreshock sequences and analyze their space–time characteristics and statistical characteristics. The results show that the proportion of foreshock sequences of ML ≥ 3.0 earthquakes in the North–South seismic belt is not significantly higher than that in other regions of the world (New Zealand, Southern California) without considering the difference in cutoff magnitude. The number of foreshock sequences in the North–South seismic belt displays obvious regional differences, with the number in the middle section distinctly lower and in the south section distinctly higher, while accounting for nearly 50% in all earthquake sequences except for a few areas. The foreshock sequence duration is mostly one to one hundred days, without displaying obvious correlation between the duration of sequences and foreshock sequences and latitude. The background earthquakes have a high b value, approximately 0.89. The b value of foreshock sequences, especially foreshock sequences in the strict sense, is low, approximately 0.72. The b value of aftershock sequences is the lowest, approximately 0.69. The duration of foreshocks in most earthquake sequences is lower than that of aftershocks, especially in sequences with large numbers of events. We analyze high-resolution borehole strainmeter signals to constrain the fault plane solutions and locations of the 2009 Fengpin-Hualien earthquakes, in eastern Taiwan. The December M w 6.6 earthquake has ruptured a narrow section of the Collision Seismic Zone (within depth of 34 to 44 km), an active structure located offshore northeast Taiwan. The October M w 6.3 event has ruptured the deep section of the Longitudinal Valley fault (25–32 km depth) located between Fengpin and Fanglin. Coulomb stress changes induced by the October event in the hypocenter region of the December event are low (< +30 kPa), which suggests that the latter event was not induced by static stress transfer. The December event is characterized by an abundant seismicity for about 2.5 days following the mainshock. The temporal evolution between the aftershock rate and geodetic strain suggests that seismicity could have been controlled by a short-lived frictional afterslip. Besides, we infer that significant positive static Coulomb stress changes (> +100 kPa) induced by this sequence at shallow to moderate depths in the Longitudinal Valley (0–12 km) may have influenced the occurrence of large mainshocks in eastern Taiwan during the past decade. Conversely, limited stress (< +30 kPa) is transferred to the shallow, locked section of the southernmost Ryukyu trench. The Vrancea seismic zone, located in the bend region of the South-Eastern Carpathians, is a unique area with both crustal and intermediate-depth seismic activity and is known as one of the most active seismic area in Europe. Moderate crustal seismicity is recorded all over the Carpathian region, but the far more intense activity occurs in a small subcrustal seismogenic volume beneath the SE‐bend of the Carpathian arc with about 20 × 50 km lateral and 110 km vertical extent (70–180 km depth). A unique slab geometry, likely preserved until the present, causes stress localization due to the slab bending and subsequent stress release resulting in large mantle earthquakes in the region. The main focus of this study is to determine the focal mechanisms for events with a magnitude larger than 2.7, between 2005 and 2020 and evaluate the current stress field along the Vrancea subcrustal region, from the derived fault plane solutions. The main style of faulting for Vrancea subcrustal events presents a predominant reverse one, with two main earthquakes categories: the first one with the nodal planes, oriented NE–SW parallel with the Carpathian Arc and the second one with the nodal planes, oriented NW–SE perpendicular on the Carpathian Arc. The results of stress inversion indicate a dominant thrust faulting style, with an average stress regime index of 2.87. The stress pattern shows similar partitioning with vertical extension in the slab and no preferred orientation in the overlying crust, showing a transition regime from the extensional regime in the Moesian Platform to the compressional regime in the Vrancea subcrustal zone. Studies have been conducted on the variations of microseismic noise recorded by broadband and short-period seismic stations in the area of South Baikal before and after the large December 9, 2020 Kudara earthquake with Mw = 5.6. Ten days before the earthquake, there was a gradual increase of oscillation amplitudes in the frequency range from 0.01 to 0.1 Hz, with an increasing background observed also during 4 days after the main shock (period from December 1, 2020 to January 12, 2021). The maximum amplitude increase is 19.5 against the background. During this time, there were recorded 48 aftershocks. The analysis of direction of particle motion in seismic waves over the reporting period showed an abrupt change in the orientation of oscillations, which is fully consistent with the azimuth for the main shock epicenter. The analysis of seismograms over the next period (from December 13) did not show similar effects in the microseismic noise field. Apparently, the microseismic noise field reflected the process of slow faulting before the earthquake and after the main shock with subsequent attenuation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Vp/Vs kinematic parameter for the Kamchatka seismic subduction zone has been long monitored on a regular basis. This has allowed estimating the behavior of the parameter and revealing its features during the precursory period and actual rupturing of the March 25, 2020 earthquake which occurred in the Pacific plate at the contact between the Pacific plate and the continental slope of Kamchatka. The March 25, 2020 earthquake with its high magnitude (ML = 7.6, MW = 7.5) is a rare enough event to occur in the Pacific plate. Knowledge of earth structure in the source region of the earthquake was updated based on the results of deep seismic sounding and continuous seismic profiling which was carried out in the area in the past. It was shown that the earthquake source area is at an inflection in the descending Pacific plate. The source area lies in the layer at the boundary between the asthenosphere and the crust and mantle. The layer is at depths of 30‒60 km and has lower Vp and Vs velocities. The inflection region along Kamchatka shows lower Vp/Vs values, which is a sign of extension along the plate. The source area is in the contact between the Pacific plate, which is subducting under the southern end of Kamchatka, and the North Kuril Islands, as well as the Sea-of-Okhotsk plate. The region shows a distinct change in the anomalous values of the parameter from lower to higher, with the latter being typical for compression. On May 21, 2021 (UTC time), an Mw7.4 earthquake struck Maduo County, Qinghai Province, China. The rupture of this typical strike-slip event and its aftershocks along the Kunlun-Jiangcuo fault (JCF) propagated approximately 170 km from the epicenter. In this study, we calculated the coseismic and postseismic Coulomb stress changes induced by 14 historical earthquakes and investigated their impacts on the 2021 Maduo source area. We found that the JCF is in the stress shadow of these historical events with a combined ΔCFS range of approximately − 400 to − 200 kPa. Since the seismogenic fault of the 1937 event is nearly parallel and close to the JCF, the rupture of the 1937 event had the greatest inhibitory effect on Maduo source area. We hypothesize that the actual loading rate at the depth of the seismogenic layer in the Maduo source area is much higher than the simulated value (0.3 kPa/a). Consequently, the Maduo earthquake still occurred despite the considerable delaying effect of these historical earthquakes (especially the 1937 event). Our findings also indicate that the tectonic stress in the eastern Bayanhar block is still rapidly accumulating and adjusting. Our investigation further reveals the enhanced stress induced by the historical and Maduo events with ΔCFS values of approximately 30–300 kPa and 50–300 kPa on the Xidatan-Dongdatan segment (XDS) and the eastern end of the East Kunlun Fault (EKF), respectively, not only on the Maqin-Maqu segment (MMS) but also at the eastern end of each branch segment of the EKF. After the 2008 MW7.9 Wenchuan earthquake, the eastern Tibetan Plateau experienced a series of MW>6.0 earthquakes, including the 2013 MW6.6 Lushan, 2014 MW6.1 Kangding and 2017 MW6.5 Jiuzhaigou events. Based on available constraints, we build a three-dimensional viscoelastic finite element model to calculate Coulomb failure stress caused by these strong earthquakes. In this model, the geometry and slip vector of the initial rupture zone of each earthquake are used to better evaluate the earthquake-related stress projection. Considering reasonable ranges of viscosities for the crust and upper mantle in different tectonic units, numerical results show that after the Wenchuan earthquake, the coseismic Coulomb failure stress change at the hypocenters of the subsequent earthquakes increased to approximately +0.012–+0.040, +0.01–+0.03, and +0.008–+0.015 MPa, respectively. With viscoelastic relaxation of the lower crust and upper mantle, the Coulomb failure stress change at the hypocenters of these earthquakes accumulated to about +0.014–+0.042, +0.016–+0.036, and +0.003–+0.007 MPa just before their occurrence. This suggests that the Wenchuan earthquake indeed triggered or hastened the occurrence of the Lushan, Kangding and Jiuzhaigou events, supporting that strong earthquake clustering around the eastern Tibetan Plateau could be related to stress interaction between the seismogenic faults. Besides, ~94% and ~6% of the stress increase around (and before the occurrence of) the Kangding earthquake were contributed by the Wenchuan event and the Lushan event, respectively; the positive Coulomb failure stress change at the Jiuzhaigou earthquake hypocenter was related to coseismic slip partitioning of the Wenchuan earthquake. This means that stress interaction among the earthquakes could be controlled by the combined effect of stress of the previous events and by the complexity of earthquake ruptures. Thus, in researches on the earthquake-triggering mechanism, special attentions should be paid on both details of the rupture model and multiple factors of previous earthquakes. Abstract—The Global Seismographic Network (GSN) incorporating more than 150 seismic stations all over the world allows recording not only high-frequency seismic signals but also the response of the medium to semidiurnal and diurnal tidal impact. The correlation method for the analysis of GSN data developed by us makes it possible to detect variations in the amplitudes of tidal response associated with elastic moduli of the medium with an accuracy of 0.5%. The processes of stress accumulation and fracturing in the zone of a tectonic fault can significantly affect elastic properties of the medium which, in turn, may cause changes in tidal response of the medium in the vicinity of the earthquake's source. In this work, a linear dependence is detected between the change in the amplitude of tidal response at GSN stations and the magnitude of the coseismic stress change in the medium in the vicinity of the station estimated from GPS data. The developed method for the analysis of tidal tilts can be used for studying the processes of accumulation and redistribution of tectonic stresses before the strong earthquakes in seismically active regions. The results of modeling the stress-strain state for the epicentral zone of the earthquake that occurred on December 26, 2003 in the southeast of Iran in the city of Bam, Kerman province, before and after the rupture are presented. It is shown that the source of the earthquake is located in the zone of high stresses, whereas the emerged rupture traces this zone on the surface and corresponds to its length. The aftershocks are localized in the area of the maximal stress drop after the formation of the rupture. The drop in the stress stimulates the release of the accumulated tectonic stresses during the subsequent aftershock process. The obtained results can be useful for the deterministic approach to seismic hazard assessment and forecasting, as well as for setting up the geophysical observations intended for forecasting the strong crustal earthquakes in the continental regions. Forty-six mining-induced seismic events with moment magnitude between −1.2 and 2.1 that possibly caused damage were studied. The events occurred between 2008 and 2013 at mining level 850-1350 m in the Kiirunavaara Mine (Sweden). Hypocenter locations were refined using from 6 to 130 sensors at distances of up to 1400 m. The source parameters of the events were re-estimated using spectral analysis with a standard Brune model (slope −2). The radiated energy for the studied events varied from 4.7 × 10 to 3.8 × 10 J, the source radii from 4 to 110 m, the apparent stress from 6.2 × 10 to 1.1 × 10 Pa, energy ratio ( E / E ) from 1.2 to 126, and apparent volume from 1.8 × 10 to 1.1 × 10 m. 90% of the events were located in the footwall, close to the ore contact. The events were classified as shear/fault slip (FS) or non-shear (NS) based on the E / E ratio (>10 or <10). Out of 46 events 15 events were classified as NS located almost in the whole range between 840 and 1360 m, including many events below the production. The rest 31 FS events were concentrated mostly around the production levels and slightly below them. The relationships between some source parameters and seismic moment/moment magnitude showed dependence on the type of the source mechanism. We performed a tectonophysical analysis of earthquake frequency–size relationship types for large Central Asian earthquakes in the regions of dynamical influence due to major earthquake-generating faults based on data for the last 100 years. We identified four types of frequency–size curves, depending on the presence/absence of characteristic earthquakes and the presence or absence of a downward bend in the tail of the curve. This classification by the shape of the tail in frequency–size relationships correlates well with the values of the maximum observed magnitude. Thus, faults of the first type (there are characteristic earthquakes, but no downward bend) with Mmax ≥ 8.0 are classified as posing the highest seismic hazard; faults with characteristic earthquakes and a bend, and with Mmax = 7.5–7.9, are treated as rather hazardous; faults of the third type with Mmax = 7.1–7.5 are treated as posing potential hazard; and lastly, faults with a bend, without characteristic earthquakes, and with a typical magnitude Mmax ≤ 7.0, are classified as involving little hazard. The tail types in frequency–size curves are interpreted using the model of a nonlinear multiplicative cascade. The model can be used to treat different tail types as corresponding to the occurrence/nonoccurrence of nonlinear positive and negative feedback in earthquake rupture zones, with this feedback being responsible for the occurrence of earthquakes with different magnitudes. This interpretation and clustering of earthquake-generating faults by the behavior the tail of the relevant frequency–size plot shows raises the question about the physical mechanisms that underlie this behavior. We think that the occurrence of great earthquakes is related to a decrease in effective strength (viscosity) in the interblock space of faults at a scale appropriate to the rupture zone size. Two of the long-standing relationships of statistical seismology are power laws: the Gutenberg–Richter relation describing the earthquake frequency–magnitude distribution, and the Omori–Utsu law characterizing the temporal decay of aftershock rate following a main shock. Recently, the effect of stress on the slope (the b value) of the earthquake frequency–magnitude distribution was determined by investigations of the faulting-style dependence of the b value. In a similar manner, we study here aftershock sequences according to the faulting style of their main shocks. We show that the time delay before the onset of the power-law aftershock decay rate (the c value) is on average shorter for thrust main shocks than for normal fault earthquakes, taking intermediate values for strike-slip events. These similar dependences on the faulting style indicate that both of the fundamental power laws are governed by the state of stress. Focal mechanisms are known for only 2 per cent of aftershocks. Therefore, c and b values are independent estimates and can be used as new tools to infer the stress field, which remains difficult to measure directly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An MW 7.1 ~ 50-km-deep intraslab earthquake within the Pacific/Yakutat slab underlying the North American Plate struck Anchorage, southern Alaska, on November 30, 2018. The ground-motion records very close to the source region of the Anchorage earthquake provide an important opportunity to better understand the source characteristics of intraslab earthquakes in this subduction zone. We estimated the kinematic rupture process during this earthquake using a series of strong-motion waveform (0.05–0.4 Hz) inversions. Our inversions clearly indicate that the Anchorage earthquake was a rare intraslab event with simultaneous rupture on two conjugate faults, which are recognized sometimes for shallow crustal earthquakes but rarely for deep intraslab earthquakes. Interestingly, one of the conjugate faults had low aftershock productivity. This fault extends to great depth and may reflect a deep oceanic Moho or a local low-velocity and high-VP/VS zone within the oceanic mantle. Even though the Anchorage earthquake was a rare event due to the conjugate faults, we found that its kinematic source parameters such as the slip amplitude and large slip area nearly equal the global averages derived from source scaling relationships for intraslab earthquakes. Because the source parameters comparable to the global averages were also found for another large intraslab earthquake in the subducting Pacific/Yakutat slab, these source parameters are likely an important source characteristic common to this subduction zone. On 3 July 2015, the Mw 6.5 Pishan earthquake occurred at the junction of the southwestern margin of the Tarim Basin and the northwestern margin of the Tibetan Plateau. To understand the seismogenic mechanism and the post-seismic deformation behavior, we investigated the characteristics of the post-seismic deformation fields in the seismic area, using 9 Sentinel-1A TOPS synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images acquired from 18 July 2015 to 22 September 2016 with the Small Baseline Subset Interferometric SAR (SBAS-InSAR) technique. Postseismic LOS deformation displayed logarithmic behavior, and the temporal evolution of the post-seismic deformation is consistent with the aftershock sequence. The main driving mechanism of near-field post-seismic displacement was most likely to be afterslip on the fault and the entire creep process consists of three creeping stages. Afterward, we used the steepest descent method to invert the afterslip evolution process and analyzed the relationship between post-seismic afterslip and co-seismic slip. The results witness that 447 days after the mainshock (22 September 2016), the afterslip was concentrated within one principal slip center. It was located 5–25 km along the fault strike, 0–10 km along with the fault dip, with a cumulative peak slip of 0.18 m. The 447 days afterslip seismic moment was approximately 2.65 × 1017 N m, accounting for approximately 4.1% of the co-seismic geodetic moment. The deep afterslip revealed that a creeping process from steady-state "secondary" creeping to accelerating "tertiary" creep in the deep of fault.
