Understanding the tectonic evolution of the Yenisei Range offers important clues not only for the tectonic evolution of orogenic belts at margins of ancient cratons but also for solving the problem of the incorporation of the Siberian craton into the Rodinia supercontinent. Results of mineralogical−petrological, geochemical, and isotope–geochemical studies provide an insight into the petrogenesis, geotectonic settings, thermodynamic parameters of formation, and the ages of the metamorphism and protoliths for the contrastingly compositionally different rocks of the Garevka metamorphic complex. The paper discusses the possible models for the origin of the rock complexes and the geodynamic settings in which they were formed. The western margin of the Siberian craton was determined to have been affected by two pulses of Neoproterozoic endogenic activity, which were related to the origin of the Rodinia supercontinent (930–900 and 880–845 Ma), and which correlated with Grenville and post-Grenville processes responsible for Valhalla folding. The regional geodynamic history is correlated with the coeval sequence and similar style of tectono−thermal events in the peripheries of the large Precambrian cratons Laurentia and Baltica, which is consistent with the proposed Neoproterozoic paleogeographic reconstructions of close spatiotemporal relationships between these cratons and their incorporation into Rodinia configuration. Social protests, in particular in the form of street protests, are a frequent phenomenon of modern world often making a significant disruptive effect on the society. Understanding the factors that can affect their duration and intensity is therefore an important problem. In this paper, we consider a mathematical model of protests dynamics describing how the number of protesters change with time. We apply the model to two events such as the Yellow Vest Movement 2018–2019 in France and Khabarovsk protests 2019–2020 in Russia. We show that in both cases our model provides a good description of the protests dynamics. We consider how the model parameters can be estimated by solving the inverse problem based on the available data on protesters number at different time. The analysis of parameter sensitivity then allows for determining which factor(s) may have the strongest effect on the protests dynamics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we consider the problem of determining politico-ideological preferences of users of online social networks. We propose a (DLS) model that allows assessing politico-ideological preferences of VKontakte users using information from their accounts (digital footprints). The model meets the main ideological directions in modern-day Russia. Our approach is based on the supervised learning methodology whereby one solves a classification problem by calculating posterior probabilities of class membership. We compile an anonymized labeled dataset and develop appropriate software. Then we formulate and solve the problem of the politician's choice of an ideological positioning strategy that will potentially receive the most support from the considered set of users. One of the key problems associated with current trends in the development of the iron and steel industries in Russia and CIS countries concerns the recycling of industrial waste products. This problem arose as a result of extensive industry development combined with changing consumer attitudes to the environment involving tens of millions of tons of metallurgical production wastes occupying vast territories and destroying land utility by polluting the soil and water basin. The present paper analyses the current state of steelmaking slag recycling both in CIS and non-CIS countries. The accumulated experience of world practice in solving the problem of steelmaking slag recycling is described in detail. Particular attention is paid to converter slag recycling in the metallurgical processes of JSC ArcelorMittal Temirtau, in which converter scrap is utilized as part of the sinter charge. A generalized analysis of the data on the yield of slag processing products and the iron content of scrap and dump slag indicated the total amount of extracted iron (27.6%) to be significantly less than its proportion in the dump (64.6% of the total iron content). The possibility of increasing the yield of the magnetic part from the converter slag fraction and metallic iron extraction was experimentally confirmed. Calculated sintering indicators for sinter scrap are given: a 0.2% increase in the iron content is accompanied by an increase in the consumption of fine coke by 0.2 kg per 1 ton of the finished sinter. This paper presents a selective review of applications of data on seawater light scattering for the study and monitoring of marine particles. Particular emphasis is placed on ocean waters and the seas surrounding Russia, where earlier studies by the author with his coworkers are little known because published mostly in Russian. In those assessments, methods of solving the inverse problem of seawater light scattering have been developed. Low-parametric models of optical properties were created by means of statistical analyses of experimental data, solving the inverse problem and comparing results derived from optical methods with those based on particle counts. Estimates of the volume and mass concentrations of suspended matter and its components were derived from light-scattering data for different regions. The potential of using optical methods for assessing spatiotemporal variability in suspended matter supply, propagation, and distribution is also considered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
