Key message: We proposed a working model of BR to promote leaf size through cell expansion. In the BR signaling pathway, GhBES1 affects cotton leaf size by binding to and activating the expression of the E-box element in the GhEXO2 promoter region. Brassinosteroid (BR) is an essential phytohormone that controls plant growth. However, the mechanisms of BR regulation of leaf size remain to be determined. Here, we found that the BR deficient cotton mutant pagoda1 (pag1) had a smaller leaf size than wild-type CRI24. The expression of EXORDIUM (GhEXO2) gene, was significantly downregulated in pag1. Silencing of BRI1-EMS-SUPPRESSOR 1 (GhBES1), inhibited leaf cell expansion and reduced leaf size. Overexpression of GhBES1.4 promoted leaf cell expansion and enlarged leaf size. Expression analysis showed GhEXO2 expression positively correlated with GhBES1 expression. In plants, altered expression of GhEXO2 promoted leaf cell expansion affecting leaf size. Furthermore, GhBES1.4 specifically binds to the E-box elements in the GhEXO2 promoter, inducing its expression. RNA-seq data revealed many down-regulated genes related to cell expansion in GhEXO2 silenced plants. Buoyed by recent calls for research to explore micro-level cognitive explanations for ambidexterity, this study examines how individuals' self-efficacy and resilience affect individual ambidexterity across different institutional environments. Building on social cognitive theory, we posit that self-efficacy enhances ambidexterity via resilience and that such relationship varies across economic institutional environments. Our symmetric (PLS-SEM) and configurational (fsQCA) analyses of 1907 knowledge workers in China, New Zealand and Australia provide supportive and complementary evidence for these theoretical arguments. Specifically, PLS-SEM reveals that the mediating effects of resilience on the relationship between self-efficacy and individual ambidexterity are stronger in an environment where economic institutions are weak. fsQCA complements PLS-SEM by showing that individual ambidexterity can be explained by multiple configurations of psychological self-efficacy, resilience, characteristics related to institutions, and personal demographic factors. Taken together, these findings contribute to the international business literature by providing a nuanced understanding of how different psychological resources integrate and interact with institutional factors to enhance individual ambidexterity. A numerical model considering the seabed friction is developed to investigate the dynamic behavior of anchor cable in this paper. In the model, the anchor cable was divided into hanging and lying parts. The governing equations of hanging and lying anchor cables were established respectively based on finite difference method and coupled according to the boundary conditions. The coupled equations of anchor cable were solved by Newton iteration and the static anchor cable parameters used for the initial values were confirmed by double bisection method. To illustrate the reasonability and validity of the model, several simulations of vessel sway in wind with different time and space step sizes and different seabed friction coefficients were presented. The simulation results show that anchor cable snap load is 3–5 times of average tension, the variation of anchor cable bearing is 2 times of ship heading, and the sway amplitude of the ship's center of gravity is about one times of ship length. Compared with the experimental data, the model and algorithm in this paper can successfully provide the realistic prediction of the dynamic tension and configuration of anchor cable, and can be used as a reference for anchoring operation. Main conclusion: Brassinosteroid (BR) synthesis genes in different cotton species was comprehensively identified, and the participation of GhCPD-3 in the BR synthesis signaling pathway for regulating plant development was verified. Brassinosteroid is a natural steroidal phytohormone that plays fundamental roles in plant growth and development. In cotton, detailed characterization and functional validation of BR biosynthesis genes remain rare. Here, 16, 8 and 9 BR biosynthesis genes were identified in Gossypium hirsutum, Gossypium raimondii and Gossypium arboreum, respectively, and their phylogenetic relationships, gene structures, conserved motifs of the encoded proteins, chromosomal locations were determined and a synteny analysis was performed. Gossypium hirsutum and Arabidopsis BR biosynthesis genes closely clustered in the phylogenetic tree and fragment duplication was likely the primary cause promoting gene family expansion in G. hirsutum. Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) enrichment analysis showed their relevance as BR biosynthesis genes. GhCPD-3 was highly expressed in roots and stems and the loci of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were significantly associated with these traits.Ectopic overexpression of GhCPD-3 in the cpd91 Arabidopsis mutant rescued the mutant phenotype by increasing plant height and leaf size in comparison to those of cpd91 and WT plants. Moreover, overexpressed GhCPD-3 in cpd91 mutants showed greater hypocotyl and root lengths than those of cpd91 and WT plants under light and dark conditions, respectively, indicating that BR actively promotes hypocotyl and root growth. To determine the parameters of bridle towed systems in preliminary design and describe the configuration and dynamic behavior of bridle cables during tow-ship changes its speed and course, a tug-cable-barge coupling motion model for bridle towed system is proposed. The governing equation of towing bridle was established based on finite difference method and the six-degrees-of-freedom equations of motion for tug and barge were adopted according to the MMG modeling theory. The dynamic coupling boundary conditions for bridle towed system are derived. The steady- state motion parameters of towing bridle were confirmed by double bisection method. The equations of towing bridle are solved by Newton iteration method. Tug and barge motion equations are solved by Runge-Kutta method. The computing results indicate that the model and algorithm in this paper can be used to predict the configuration and dynamic behavior, and determine the parameters in preliminary design of bridle towed systems. We develop a theoretical model to account for the effect of learning goal orientation on creative performance by distinguishing two dimensions of intrinsic motivation as mediators. Challenge intrinsic motivation is concerned with the interest in and excitement of solving problems and tackling complex tasks, whereas enjoyment intrinsic motivation is concerned with the enjoyment of task activities for self-expression and self-entertainment. Results from a sample of 189 Chinese employees support this model and show that learning goal orientation had significant positive relationships with both dimensions of intrinsic motivation, but only challenge intrinsic motivation was significantly related to creative performance and mediated the positive relationship between learning goal orientation and creative performance. As predicted, intellectual stimulation, a dimension of transformational leadership, showed a moderating effect, such that learning goal orientation was less strongly related to challenge intrinsic motivation when intellectual stimulation was high. In addition, a moderated mediation effect was found, such that the mediating effect of challenge intrinsic motivation for the relationship between learning goal orientation and creative performance was weaker when intellectual stimulation was high. No such moderation effect was found for enjoyment intrinsic motivation, providing further support for the differential roles of these two dimensions of intrinsic motivation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Psychological safety has been shown to facilitate learning from experience that can help organizations adapt to the changing marketplace. Shared rewards and cooperative, but not competitive and independent, goals may help department members feel supported and able to discuss open-mindedly their experiences, including mistakes, and learn from them. One hundred and twenty five CEOs and 436 executives from 125 companies in China completed measures of psychological safety, goal interdependence, and shared rewards. The results of two structural equation analyses suggest that shared rewards can convince departments that their goals are cooperative and that this conclusion in turn leads to psychological safety. These results were interpreted as suggesting that shared rewards and cooperative goals are important foundations for organizational psychological safety in China and perhaps other countries as well. Organizational values of people and respect and interdependent structures of team procedures and task interdependence may help departments believe their goals are cooperative and thereby coordinate effectively. CEOs in China completed measures of their organization’s values and interdependent structures and their Vice-Presidents completed measures of the department’s goal interdependence (cooperative, competitive, and independent) and collaborative effectiveness. Structural equation analysis suggested that values and interdependent structures promote cooperative, but not competitive or independent, goals that in turn results in collaborative effectiveness. These results, coupled with previous research, were interpreted as suggesting that people and respect values, team procedures, task interdependence, and cooperative goals are complementary foundations for synergy in China and perhaps other countries as well. In the present work the effect of the power law exponent of power-law fluid and non-Darcy number of non-Darcy flow on stability of natural convection in porous media are studied. The computation analysis of effect of power-law exponent of power-law fluid and non-Darcy number of non-Darcy flow in the rectangular duct on the transition Rayleigh number Ra*, which means the convective model transiting from stationary state to periodic solution. The duct has filled a porous medium saturated with the power-law non-Newtonian fluid or Newtonian fluid for non-Darcy flow, in which there is uniform internal heat generation per unit volume q. In this paper the relationship between the transition Rayleigh number Ra* and the power-law exponent n, Ra* and non-Darcy number Be, are shown.
