Endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) is a standard treatment method for gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors (gGISTs). Evidence of the safety and efficacy of a double-curved endoscope (DCE) in EFTR of gGISTs is limited. We aimed to compare the operative outcomes of DCE versus single-curved endoscopes (SCE) in EFTR of gGISTs. This retrospective observational study was conducted at four Chinese tertiary institutes. From January 2019 to November 2021, 104 patients who underwent EFTR by SCE (n = 57) or DCE (n = 47) were enrolled. One-to-one propensity score matching (PSM) was performed between the two groups to compare the demographics and operative outcomes. All gGISTs were resected successfully with no recurrence during follow-up. The median (range) tumor size was 1.2 (0.5, 3.5) cm in DCE and 2.0 (0.6, 4.8) cm in SCE (p <.001), and the procedure time was shorter in the DCE group than in the SCE group (50.0 min vs. 62.0 min, p <.05). After PSM, 41 pairs were selected, and no difference was noted in demographics. The procedure time was also shorter in the DCE group than in the SCE group (50.0 min vs. 55.0 min, p <.05). Subgroup analysis showed that the DCE group had a shorter procedure time in the gastric fundus than the SCE group (47.0 min vs. 55.0 min, p <.05). In multiple linear regression analysis, significant factors related to prolonged procedure time were the type of endoscope of SCE and larger tumor size (p <.05). EFTR of gGISTs using DCE is safe and effective. Compared with SCE, DCE had an advantage in terms of operative time, especially in the gastric fundus. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Neuroimaging findings suggest that older adults with subjective memory decline (SMD) demonstrate some neurodegenerative brain changes and have high risk of developing dementia, but relatively little is known about the effectiveness of interventions for SMD. This study aimed to examine the effects of cognitive training on resting-state brain activity in SMD. This study employed the amplitude of low frequency fluctuations (ALFF) and resting state functional connectivity (rs-FC) analyses. After baseline evaluations, participants were randomly allocated to the intervention and control group to receive a four-week cognitive training and lectures on health and aging, respectively. All participants were scanned before and after training with an interval of about three months. (1) Participants in the intervention group showed significant improvements on the Associative Learning Test (ALT) and the Digit Span Forward task compared to the control group; (2) ALFF in the occipital lobe for the control group increased significantly, while that for the intervention group remained the same; ALFF changes were negatively correlated with ALT performance in the control group; (3) The mean value of rs-FC for the intervention group decreased, while that for the control group showed a trend of increase; rs-FC changes were also negatively correlated with ALT performance in the control group. Resting-state brain activities in occipital region increased with aging. The cognitive training could counteract this brain function changes associated with aging or even reverse the changes. The increased oxidative stress is usually observed in obese population, but the control of body weight by calorie restriction and/or exercise training can ameliorate oxidative stress. In order to evaluate oxidative stress in response to exercise and dietary restriction in obese adolescents, a total of 20 obese volunteers were enrolled in a 4-week intervention program including exercise training and dietary restriction. Body compositions and blood samples were analysed before and after 4-week intervention, and biomarkers associated with oxidative stress were examined. After 4-week exercise training coupled with dietary restriction, physical composition parameters including body mass, body mass index (BMI), lean body mass, body fat mass and fat mass ratio had obvious reduction by 12.43%, 13.51%, 5.83%, 25.05% and 14.52%, respectively. In addition, the activities of antioxidant enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) revealed a remarkable enhancement. On the other hand, protein carbonyls (PC) exhibited an obvious reduction. Moreover, total thiols and nitrites with respect to baseline revealed a reducing trend although no significant difference was observed. Therefore, the 4-week exercise intervention coupled with dietary restriction is benefit for the loss of body weight and the mitigation of oxidative stress in obese population so that it can be a recommendable intervention prescription for the loss of body weight. To identify the boundary conditions for proactive employees making whistle-blowing decisions, we developed a cross-level model comprising employee proactive personality and two types of whistle-blowing intentions that incorporates the influences of organizational- and individual-level attributes. Analyses of data collected from 432 Chinese employees in 32 companies indicated that proactive personality was positively related to internal whistle-blowing intention and even more positively related to external whistle-blowing intention when individuals were working in organizations characterized by an instrumental ethical climate and employees with a high level of moral identity.
