Northern China is vigorously promoting cogeneration and clean heating technologies. The accurate prediction of building energy consumption is the basis for heating regulation. In this paper, the daily, weekly, and annual periods of building energy consumption are determined by Fourier transformation. Accordingly, a period-based neural network (PBNN) is proposed to predict building energy consumption. The main innovation of PBNN is the introduction of a new data structure, which is a time-discontinuous sliding window. The sliding window consists of the past 24 h, 24 h for the same period last week, and 24 h for the same period the previous year. When predicting the building energy consumption for the next 1 h, 12 h, and 24 h, the prediction errors of the PBNN are 2.30%, 3.47%, and 3.66% lower than those of the traditional sliding window PBNN (TSW-PBNN), respectively. The training time of PBNN is approximately half that of TSW-PBNN. The time-discontinuous sliding window reduces the energy consumption prediction error and neural network model training time. There are many thyroid diseases affecting people all over the world. Many diseases affect the thyroid gland, like hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and thyroid cancer. Thyroid inefficiency can cause severe symptoms in patients. Effective classification and machine learning play a significant role in the timely detection of thyroid diseases. This timely classification will indeed affect the timely treatment of the patients. Automatic and precise thyroid nodule detection in ultrasound pictures is critical for reducing effort and radiologists' mistake rate. Medical images have evolved into one of the most valuable and consistent data sources for machine learning generation. In this paper, various machine learning algorithms like decision tree, random forest algorithm, KNN, and artificial neural networks on the dataset create a comparative analysis to better predict the disease based on parameters established from the dataset. Also, the dataset has been manipulated for accurate prediction for the classification. The classification was performed on both the sampled and unsampled datasets for better comparison of the dataset. After dataset manipulation, we obtained the highest accuracy for the random forest algorithm, equal to 94.8% accuracy and 91% specificity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The global economy appears the trend of anti-globalization under the influence of COVID-19. Based on the input-output table of lead database from 2006 to 2020, this paper divides the factors that affect the development of financial industry in China, the United States and Russia into six aspects: price, intermediate input, household consumption, government consumption, export and import. ADGA-BP neural network model is proposed in this paper, which is based on six aspects of price, intermediate input, consumer, government consumption, export and import. The intermediate input is decomposed from the perspective of industrial structure to study the interrelationship between financial industry and other industries in the three countries. The results show that the intermediate input is the main factor in the development of financial industry in the three countries, but the source industries of the intermediate input are not the same; the two factors of household consumption and price are closely related to the development of financial industry in the three countries, and they all play a role in promoting China, while the relationship between household consumption and the United States and between price and Russia is reverse; Government consumption only has a significant impact on Russia; from the perspective of mutual influence, the mutual investment between the financial industry of China and the United States is relatively large, while the relationship between the Russian financial industry and the two countries is relatively weak. With the rapid development of China's electrical industry, the safe operation of electrical facilities is very important for social stability and people's property safety. The failure detection method of conventional electrical equipment is hand detection, which has high experience of the detection person, lacks detection and error detection, and the detection efficiency is low. With the development of artificial intelligence technology, computer-assisted substation inspection is now possible, and substation inspection using an intelligent inspection robot equipped with an infrared device is one of the main substation inspection methods. In this paper, experiments are carried out using several neural network models. For example, if a faster region convolutional neural networks (RCNN) infrared detection model is employed, a good vg16 in the feature region of the extracted image takes into account the quality of the infrared image and the presence of multiple devices. Infrared images can be used to determine the basic features of various electronic devices. In order to detect targets in infrared images of electrical equipment, the fast RCNN target detection algorithm is used, and the overall recognition accuracy reaches 83.1%, and a good application effect is obtained. The coordinated control systems (CCS) in ultra-supercritical thermal power unit, like many other industrial systems, is a complex multivariable system with severe nonlinearity, strong multivariable coupling and uncertainties. In order to meet the requirements of operational stability, economy. etc in ultra-supercritical unit, it is necessary to establish its accurate mathematical model and further design the advanced controller. Against this background, a new fuzzy neural network modeling method is proposed in this paper. First of all, the incremental model is considered separately to improve the rationality of the local linear model structure. Then, the parameters in antecedent part is initialized by a kernel k -means++ algorithm, in which Xie-Beni index is used to optimize the number of fuzzy rules. Finally, supervised adaptive gradient descent algorithm and artificial immune particle swarm optimization algorithm work in stages to complete the training of the consequent part parameters. The proposed modeling method in this paper is applied to a 1000 MW unit in China and shows satisfactory accuracy. In the established model, the MSE of power output, main steam pressure and separator outlet steam temperature are 0.0099, 1.21E-4, 0.0023, respectively. Today, China is facing a very serious issue of Air Pollution due to its dreadful impact on the human health as well as the environment. The urban cities in China are the most affected due to their rapid industrial and economic growth. Therefore, it is of extreme importance to come up with new, better and more reliable forecasting models to accurately predict the air quality. This paper selected Beijing, Tianjin and Shijiazhuang as three cities from the Jingjinji Region for the study to come up with a new model of collaborative forecasting using Support Vector Regression (SVR) for Urban Air Quality Index (AQI) prediction in China. The present study is aimed to improve the forecasting results by minimizing the prediction error of present machine learning algorithms by taking into account multiple city multi-dimensional air quality information and weather conditions as input. The results show that there is a decrease in MAPE in case of multiple city multi-dimensional regression when there is a strong interaction and correlation of the air quality characteristic attributes with AQI. Stock index forecasting is an important tool for both the investors and the government organizations. However, due to the inherent large volatility, high noise, and nonlinearity of the stock index, stock index forecasting has been a challenging task for a long time. This paper aims to develop a novel hybrid stock index forecasting model named BSO-GNN based on the brain storm optimization (BSO) approach and the grey neural network (GNN) model by taking full advantage of the grey model in dealing with data with small samples and the neural network in handling nonlinear fitting problems. Moreover, the new developed BSOGNN, which initializes the parameters in grey neural network with the BSO algorithm, has great capability in overcoming the deficiencies of the traditional GNN model with randomly initialized parameters through solving the local optimum and low forecasting accuracy problems. The performance of the proposed BSO-GNN model is evaluated under the normalization and nonnormalization preprocessing situations. Experimental results from the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) Composite Index, the Shenzhen Composite Index, and the HuShen 300 Index opening price forecasting show that the proposed BSO-GNN model is effective and robust in the stock index forecasting and superior to the individual GNN model. Abstract: Wind energy, which is intermittent by nature, can have a significant impact on power grid security, power system operation, and market economics, especially in areas with a high level of wind power penetration. Wind speed forecasting has been a vital part of wind farm planning and the operational planning of power grids with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Improving the accuracy of wind speed forecasting algorithms has significant technological and economic impacts on these activities, and significant research efforts have addressed this aim recently. However, there is no single best forecasting algorithm that can be applied to any wind farm due to the fact that wind speed patterns can be very different between wind farms and are usually influenced by many factors that are location-specific and difficult to control. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid wind speed forecasting method based on a back-propagation (BP) neural network and the idea of eliminating seasonal effects from actual wind speed datasets using seasonal exponential adjustment. This method can forecast the daily average wind speed one year ahead with lower mean absolute errors compared to figures obtained without adjustment, as demonstrated by a case study conducted using a wind speed dataset collected from the Minqin area in China from 2001 to 2006. A remote sensing approach is proposed in this paper for monitoring instantaneous underwater light climate in Dahuchi Lake, China. Water constituents that are optically significant to the lake water can be retrieved through this method based on an artificial neural network (ANN) algorithm with a satisfactory accuracy. In this study, the ANN was trained by spectral simulations which were generated by a water colour simulation model (WASI). An underwater light attenuation model has been built by fitting the field measurements and applied to calculate photosynthetically available radiation (PAR) at the bottom of the lake from the inputs of hyperspectral reflectance above the water surface and the water depth. Results show that this method can predict the concentration of suspended particle matter (SPM) with a high accuracy and explain more than half of the underwater PAR variation with a standard deviation of 94.8 μmol s-1 m-2. In order to test the portability of the algorithm, it has also been extended to three bands of Landsat TM image. Compared with hyperspectral inputs, ANN with broadband inputs has lower but still acceptable accuracy on SPM retrieval. The advantage of this method lies in its time-efficient and cost-efficient monitoring of underwater light climate, i.e. the simulations generated by a semi-physical model can be used for ANN training, instead of using a large number of field measurements. Abstract: In this paper, an artificial neural network (ANN) model is developed for estimating monthly mean daily global solar radiation of 8 typical cities in China. The feed-forward back-propagation algorithm is applied in this analysis. The results of the ANN model and other empirical regression models have been compared with measured data on the basis of mean percentage error (MPE), mean bias error (MBE) and root mean square error (RMSE). It is found that the solar radiation estimations by ANN are in good agreement with the measured values and are superior to those of other available empirical models. In addition, ANN model is tested to predict the same components for Kashi, Geermu, Shenyang, Chengdu and Zhengzhou stations over the same period. Data for Kashi, Geermu, Shenyang, Chengdu and Zhengzhou are not used in the training of the networks. Results obtained indicate that the ANN model can successfully be used for the estimation of monthly mean daily global solar radiation for Kashi, Geermu, Shenyang, Chengdu and Zhengzhou. Churn prediction is becoming a major focus of banks in China who wish to retain customers by satisfying their needs under resource constraints. In churn prediction, an important yet challenging problem is the imbalance in the data distribution. In this paper, we propose a novel learning method, called improved balanced random forests (IBRF), and demonstrate its application to churn prediction. We investigate the effectiveness of the standard random forests approach in predicting customer churn, while also integrating sampling techniques and cost-sensitive learning into the approach to achieve a better performance than most existing algorithms. The nature of IBRF is that the best features are iteratively learned by altering the class distribution and by putting higher penalties on misclassification of the minority class. We apply the method to a real bank customer churn data set. It is found to improve prediction accuracy significantly compared with other algorithms, such as artificial neural networks, decision trees, and class-weighted core support vector machines (CWC-SVM). Moreover, IBRF also produces better prediction results than other random forests algorithms such as balanced random forests and weighted random forests. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
