Abstract Growing concerns about the state of the global environment and growing awareness of issues related to poverty and economic inequality are putting pressure on both the public and private sector to improve their sustainability performance. Hospitality businesses are at the frontline of such pressures on leisure and tourism consumption. In response there has been extensive adoption of corporate environmental and social responsibility programs in accommodation and food businesses. These programs need both the support of consumers to pay for theses initiatives and their participation in a range of behaviors. The challenge for hospitality managers is how to encourage this guest participation in corporate responsibility programs. The challenge for hospitality researchers is provide guidance to these managers based on sound research guided by appropriate theory. While researchers have begun to respond to this challenge with increasing studies focused on guest participation, the area as whole suffers from a number of misuses of psychological theory. The paper reviews the available studies focusing on their use and misuse of psychological concepts and theories. It then seeks to address these issues by setting out a dual-processing theoretical framework that links different pathways to desired guest participation to their appropriate concepts and theories. The aim is to provide researchers in this area with a better understanding of the core aspects of psychology relevant to this research area. It is hoped that the use of more appropriate concepts and theories will both improve the quality of research in this area and through this, provide more practical recommendations for hospitality managers. Many theories of motivation recognize a person's identity adds value to the prediction of behavior; albeit indirectly, through constructs such as social norms, self-efficacy, perceived behavioral control, and values. Recently, behavioral research has more directly assessed the influence of identity on behavior; however, it is unclear whether such research aligns with the theoretical establishments of identity. This review investigated the identity theory alignment of existing behavior research by systematically searching, screening, and reviewing identity-behavior relevant papers, across three behavioral psychology databases. Twenty-three papers meet the inclusion criteria for review (original research with a primary focus on identity and behavior, within healthy adult population), and data relating to identity-behavior theoretical viewpoints, research methods, and study findings were extracted and synthesized to provide a scoping overview of current research. Most reviewed papers presented identity as a loosely defined construct; commonly operationalized as social identity, omitting the theorized multiplicity of social and self-identities. Overall outcomes suggested that identity influences behavior indirectly through intention strength, rather than directly as a post-intention mechanism. While existing research has been crucial in illuminating potential influences of identity on behavior, there is a need to strengthen current understandings and theoretical alignments within future research relating to identity and behavior. The aim of this paper is to provide dental professionals with insight into how the science of behaviour change can be used to support patients to change their oral health behaviours. The paper describes how the fourth version of Delivering Better Oral Health (DBOHv4) published in November 2021, brings together the theory plus key principles and practical tools in Chapter 3 "Behaviour change", to help front-line clinicians achieve the best effect. Introduction: Globally, the population is ageing, and more people live in residential care. Best practice in personal hygiene care may reduce distressing and debilitating skin and oral problems and improve resident outcomes. Although there is guidance on personal hygiene care, implementation may be a challenge. Aim: To identify barriers and facilitators to delivering personal hygiene care for older persons in residential care settings. Methods: Systematic review reported according to PRISMA 2020 guidance. Databases MEDLINE, CIHAHL and PsychINFO were systematically searched using terms and synonyms 'barriers', 'facilitators', 'hygiene', 'older adults' and 'residential care'. Only empirical studies, reporting everyday skin and oral care, in English, peer reviewed and published from 2000 to 2021 were included. Due to methodological heterogeneity, a narrative synthesis was conducted. Results: Sixteen papers yielded nine categories of barrier or facilitator. Five related to skin and oral care: (i) knowledge, (ii) skills relating to hygiene care, (iii) skills relating to supporting 'uncooperative' behaviours, (iv) lack of resources and (v) time, workload and staffing levels. The remainder related only to oral care: (vi) resident, family or carer motivation, (vii) dislike of hygiene care, (viii) carer attitudes and beliefs and (ix) social influences and communication. Six papers reported interventions to optimise care. Conclusion: This review highlights the persistent dearth of research into everyday personal hygiene practices, in particular skin hygiene in residential care. Existing literature identifies a range of barriers; however, there is a mismatch between these and reported interventions to improve practice. Relevance to clinical practice: Advances in implementation science to support optimal care have yet to be applied to interventions to support hygiene practices in care homes and it is imperative this is addressed. Future interventions should involve: (i) systematically and theoretically assessing barriers, (ii) application of tailored behaviour change techniques (iii) using these co‐design pragmatic, locally acceptable strategies. Recently games in the form of video, computer, or mobile apps have been utilised as an effective component of interventions for health behaviour change. This paper provides an overview of related projects reported in peerreview literature in the period 2006 to 2016. Nine highly relevant references were considered for analysis. More than four decades have passed since the United Nation's Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) was adopted. Now is an opportune time to consider whether the interventions seeking to realise CEDAW's aspirations have brought us closer to achieving gender equality. This systematic review aimed to identify and synthesise evidence for the effectiveness of social justice, cognitive, or behaviour-change interventions that sought to reduce gender inequality, gender bias, or discrimination against women or girls. Interventions could be implemented in any context, with any mode of delivery and duration, if they measured gender equity or discrimination outcomes, and were published in English in peer-reviewed journals. Papers on violence against women and sexuality were not eligible. Seventy-eight papers reporting qualitative (n = 36), quantitative (n = 23), and multi-methods (n = 19) research projects met the eligibility criteria after screening 7,832 citations identified from psycINFO, ProQuest, Scopus searches, reference lists and expert recommendations. Findings were synthesised narratively. Improved gender inclusion was the most frequently reported change (n = 39), particularly for education and media interventions. Fifty percent of interventions measuring social change in gender equality did not achieve beneficial effects. Most gender mainstreaming interventions had only partial beneficial effects on outcomes, calling into question their efficacy in practice. Twenty-eight interventions used education and awareness-raising strategies, which also predominantly had only partial beneficial effects. Overall research quality was low to moderate, and the key findings created doubt that interventions to date have achieved meaningful change. Interventions may not have achieved macrolevel change because they did not explicitly address meso and micro change. We conclude with a summary of the evidence for key determinants of the promotion of gender equality, including a call to address men's emotional responses (micro) in the process of achieving gender equality (micro/meso/macrolevels).
