Abstract: The article discusses a study assessing the effectiveness of an intervention (Asha-Life) by Accredited Social Health Activists (Asha) to improve antiretroviral therapy adherence of rural women living with AIDS in India compared with that of a usual care group. It focuses on continued low adherence of therapy due to several barriers facing rural women. Findings suggested significant increase in the Asha-Life intervention, which provides awareness and councelling on HIV/AIDS and its therapy.
