This study assesses the service delivery quality using SERVQUAL to predict library users' intention to revisit Delta State Polytechnic Library, Ogwashi-Uku. Ultimately, the survey helps improve the quality of library services by informing the development and rollout of initiatives that address the concerns voiced by the polytechnic community. The working population of the study was 4545 library users in Delta state Polytechnic, Ogwashi-uku. A sample size of 354 was achieved using Wimmer and Dominick's sample size calculator. Direct data collection using a Questionnaire from Delta state Polytechnic libraries in Delta state, Nigeria, was the primary data collection method. The results of the assessment showed that DSPG library service quality has a significant effect on library users' intentions to revisit. Perceived reliability as a service quality positively affects library users' intentions to return, while assurance and empathy have the slightest positive influence. The study concluded that Library users who are assured and perceive library service as reliable, responsive, empathic, and tangible are more likely to revisit the Library. Purpose: This study aims to examine the awareness and perception of the relevance of blockchain technology in the management of libraries and archives in the fourth industrial revolution in a developing country, Nigeria. Design/methodology/approach: Ten system librarians selected from five different libraries and ten archivists selected from five different archives in the Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria represent the sample for the study. The study adopted a purely qualitative approach where data was collected through an open-ended questionnaire mailed to the participants to guide against physical contact and maintained social distancing to observe COVID-19 protocol. Findings: The results reveal that both the librarians and archivists are aware of blockchain technology, its adoption and use in libraries and archives. There is a positive perception about blockchain technology believing that it can assist libraries and archives in storing information in a distributed settings through gathering, preserving and sharing authoritative information, and supports archivists in creating a unique verifiable record that can be accessed by anyone in archives. Implementation, maintenance cost and difficulty in sustainability are identified as the challenges of blockchain adoption. Research limitations/implications: This study is limited to one geopolitical zone of Nigeria which necessitates the need for further research on the similar subject matter in other geopolitical zones in Nigeria. Practical implications: The findings of the study have identified the need for librarians and archivists to increase their awareness and develop a positive perception toward blockchain technologies. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this study is the first to research the relevance of blockchain technology in Nigerian libraries and archives. The satisfaction of users with the acquisition of library materials in special libraries was explored in this study. The research was guided by three research questions. A population of 45 librarians and para-professional employees at Kwara State's special libraries was used in the survey study design. A questionnaire was utilized to obtain the information. Users' were satisfied with reference materials/services, electronic resources, audiovisual materials, special collections, textbooks, and reprographics are among the study's findings. Users were also dissatisfied with computer for research and Internet services, according to the report. Based on the findings, the research advised that special libraries in Kwara State buy additional computer equipment and collaborate with Internet providers to provide effective services, among other things. This study examined the availability and utilization of digital reference sources and services in academic libraries in South-South Nigeria. Descriptive research design was used for the study. The population of the study is 102 librarians. The entire102 librarians were used as the sample size for the study. The instruments for data collection were a Check List and a structured questionnaire. A checklist was used to check the availability of digital reference sources and ICT facilities that supports digital reference services, while the 102 questionnaire were filled and returned to the researcher. Data collected from the study was analyzed using Percentage. The results of the study revealed that types of digital reference sources such as dictionaries, encyclopedia, and directories among others are averagely available in most of the academic libraries in south-south Nigeria. The study also revealed that asynchronous and synchronous transactions and online bibliographic reference services are often offered in academic libraries. More so, digital reference services such as searching online databases, identifying, and locating materials are often used by users in academic libraries. The study recommended that government and the university management should ensure that there is adequate fund allocation to university libraries; and university library management should provide a functional library website to make digital reference sources and services easier for librarians and library users. This study examined the effects of book theft and mutilation on Resources and Services of University Libraries in Imo State, Nigeria. Five research objectives were formulated to guide the study. Survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study is 20,867 comprising both users and all the library staff in IMSU and FUTO. The sample size of the study is 533. This is made up of the entire 140 staff and three hundred and ninety two (392) registered users. Rating scale was used as instrument for data collection. Descriptive statistics was used to answer the research questions while Pearson Product moment Correlation (PPMC) was applied in testing of the study hypotheses. Findings show that the extent of book theft and mutilation were very high in the two universities in Imo state leading to shortage of library materials in the academic libraries in Imo State. The study recommends that library managers should sanitize academic library environment by incorporating security Men that will apprehend users who indulge in stealing and mutilation of library materials. The study investigated users' satisfaction with library facilities and attitude of staff in national library of Cross River State, Nigeria, was the focus of this investigation. The survey research design was adopted and the population of the study was five thousand five hundred and forty, while a sample of five hundred and fifty-four users of the national library were selected through random sampling technique and used for the study. The reliability value obtained instrument was established through split half reliability method. Population t-test was the statistical analysis technique was adopted for the study. The findings revealed that: Users satisfaction with library facilities and attitude of staff in national library was significantly high. Based on the findings the following were recommended: The staff in the library should be friendly to users' in delivery their library services and regular power supply to enable library users' access internet while in the library. The study investigated librarians’ awareness and willingness to deploy QR code in libraries. Three (3) research objectives were raised to guide the conduct of the study and three hypotheses were also tested in the study. The survey type of the descriptive research design was adopted and a population of 51 librarians from selected universities in Nigeria was used. The total population sampling type of purposive sampling technique was adopted while questionnaire was used as the tool for data collection. Out of the 51 copies of questionnaire distributed, 50 were retrieved and found useable, constituting 98% response rate. The data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that the level of librarians’ awareness of the use of QR code is low. The study further revealed that librarians are willing to deploy QR code in libraries (and in discharging library services). However, there are perceived challenges of lack of technical knowhow, lack of awareness of the use of the technology by library users, non-availability of QR code reader to all library users, and poor internet connectivity. In addition, the study revealed that a significant relationship exists between librarians’ awareness, willingness and deployment of QR code in libraries. Thus, the study recommended that awareness/sensitization/trainings on the use of QR code and other emerging technologies in libraries should be organised periodically for librarians by the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) and the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) as this will ensure that librarians are kept up-to-date with the latest technological innovations in libraries. The paper takes a look at the incidence of mutilation and theft and of library materials, and gives users’ assessment of library security and factors that influence mutilation and theft among library users in Nigerian university libraries. Librarians all over the world are increasingly disturbed with the safety and physical integrity of important intellectual properties. Periodical and reference materials are the most likely materials that will be mutilated. All of the libraries still rely exclusively on manual checks carried out by unskilled personnel at the library exit and entrance. The high cost of photocopying and frequent breakdown of copiers was the causes of library material theft and mutilation. The results show that all the university libraries stamps specific pages, with security personnel and porters are at the entrance door of the libraries checking in and checking out users of the library. Findings from the study revealed that university libraries in Nigeria must adopt security measures to prevent theft of library materials. Therefore, media centers and libraries must adopt security measures to protect the software and hardware from serious harm. This study has presented findings on the influence of SUBEB Libraries on the development of reading skills of primary school pupils in Oyo State, Nigeria. The study was conducted on SUBEB libraries located in Local Government Areas in Ibadan Township, which is the headquarter of Oyo State. A total number of 135 copies of questionnaire were administered on the respondents out of which only 133 were found useful for the study. The major findings of the study revealed the inadequacy of reading promotion programmes in the SUBEB libraries selected for the study (113 or 91.1%). Even though the study revealed regular use of the library (74 or 60.2%), the attitude of the pupils towards reading were found to be negative (82 or 66.7%) which may be due to the fact that there were no interesting and relevant books that can attract the pupils to reading. The lack of other reading promotion programmes such as story hours and readers' club may also be responsible for the negative attitude of the pupils towards reading. The findings further revealed textbooks as the only library material that the pupils use most whenever they visit the library which may mean that they go to the library only to do assignments relating to their class work. Cataloguing is fundamentally the basis of theory of knowledge where information organisation, the structure and the means for handling them are identified and specified. Cataloguers are the specialists responsible for bibliographic control, information management and the creation of resource discovery tool that aids user in their search for materials. Essentially, they are responsible for the provision and organisation of efficient and effective retrieval system. Thereby saves time, increases the quality/productivity of library users and ultimately enhances the performance of the institution to achieve set objectives. Literatures indicated swift changes in duties, skills and functions of cataloguers. The changes had posed challenges to the professional development of cataloguers. This study with the use of questionnaire surveyed cataloguing practice in Nigeria in the twenty first century, their duties and tools being use in the university libraries. In addition it collects opinions on job performance factors. The result revealed that the libraries are of medium size collection with low cataloguers strength and modest use of ICT in all the libraries. The libraries still possess the card catalogue system. On the duties perform, eighty-six percent of the cataloguers, perform technical duties as original descriptive and subject cataloguing, determining appropriate guidelines in applying rules, Subject heading polices with the use of Subject thesaurus. Leading skills that enhanced job performance of the respondents include: Ability to plan, organise/supervise cataloguing activities in the library, Ability to establish/maintain effective work relationship with colleagues and other library staff and Ability to lead the way in researching into new techniques for cataloguing. This paper examines how Nigerian Libraries can leverage on social networking and social media skills to provide dynamic library services in the face of dwindling economic problems in Nigeria. The unprecedented technological advancement of the 21st century, no doubt has impacted on library services globally and in Nigeria in particular. The social media hype has gradually crept into the library profession with social sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, YouTube, Library Thing, Ning; it has become evident that our services will need to change to meet the growing needs of our end users. Libraries in Nigeria have been challenged like never before to render more proactive and more value added services to meet the ever changing needs of our patrons. In Nigeria, a growing number of people own a mobile phone. In tertiary institutions most undergraduates and lecturers own a mobile phone and it is now used to show one's status in the community. In certain places, such as the library, where absolute silence is needed, some library users misuse mobile phone and thus they constitute a source of disturbance to other library users. Investigates the use of libraries by adult educated élites in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, Nigeria. It reveals that most do not bother to use the library again from soon after their graduation. Those who use the library occasionally do so to keep abreast of the current socio-economic and political situation in the country. A few use the library when they need to prepare for exams, while many use the library when they want to find job vacancies. Only a minority use the library to widen their horizons in their various fields. The major factors are identified as poverty, a poor political and economic situation, poor state of libraries and poor reading culture. Recommendations are made to address the situation. This article discusses the results of an investigation into the approaches to charging patrons for lost or damaged books in four academic libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria. It covers the ways in which charges were assessed, the circumstances in which charges might be waived, the responsibility for the setting and collection of charges, the difficulties encountered in the collection of charges and the libraries' responses to them. It also discusses approaches to replacing books for which charges had been collected, policies for lost or damaged books, and the medium through which patrons were informed about the policies. It concludes that the approaches were similar to the practices elsewhere and recommends further research to cover a larger number of Nigerian academic libraries to allow for the generalization of the conclusion on the situation throughout Nigeria. The article focuses on the ever-increasing demands of library users. In this ever-changing environment, some of the things one can be certain of are the need for more staff, space, and money for libraries. Libraries are ever striving to do more and more while, at best, maintaining current levels of staff and resources. The two most important goals are to increase library funding, or make the use of current resources more efficient. Jerry Nichols' contribution in this issue draws attention to a situation in New York State where revenue, collected to support local libraries for years, was left unrealized. Similarly, Andrew Itedjere's article brings to light what can happen when a Nigerian university doesn't support its library--monetarily or intellectually. While a system has been implemented requiring library users to pay a registration fee, the deemphasized importance of library collections for research has imposed a barrier to the library to realize fully needed funds to support service, collections, and technology. Khalid Mahmood and his colleagues suggest another approach in their article, which is charging library visitors for services rendered.
