In stock trading, a common phenomenon is that the trends of stocks in the same industry are very similar. In contrast, the movements of stocks in different industries are often different. Therefore, applying the same model to all stock trading is inappropriate without distinguishing the industries in which the stocks belong. However, recommending an optimal industry stock trading model is very challenging based on performance evaluation indicators. First, the indicators of the trading model are diverse. Second, the ranking of multiple indicators is often inconsistent. In the paper, we model the problem to be solved as a multi-criteria decision-making process. Therefore, we first divide stock dataset into nine industries according to their main business. Then, we apply several machine learning algorithms as candidate models to generate trading signals. Second, we conduct daily trading backtesting based on the trading signals to obtain multiple performance evaluation indicators. Third, we propose an optimal recommendation algorithm for the industry stock trading model with TODIM. The experimental results in the US stock market and China's A-share market show that the proposed algorithm can get a better trading model out-of-sample industry stock. Moreover, we effectively evaluate the generalization ability of the algorithm based on the proposed metrics. Finally, the proposed long–short portfolios based on the algorithm have achieved returns exceeding the benchmark on most out-of-sample datasets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Automated detection of road damage (ADRD) is a challenging topic in road maintenance. It focuses on automatically detecting road damage and assessing severity by deep learning. Because of the sparse distribution of characteristic pixels, it is more challenging than object detection. Although some public datasets provide a database for the development of ADRD, their amounts of data and the standard of classification cannot meet network training and feature learning. With the aim of solving this problem, this work publishes a new road damage dataset named CNRDD, which is labeled according to the latest evaluation standard for highway technical conditions in China (JTG5210-2018). The dataset is collected by professional onboard cameras and is manually labeled in eight categories with three different degrees (mild, moderate and severe), which can effectively help promote research of automated detection of road damage. At the same time, a novel baseline with attention fusion and normalization is proposed to evaluate and analyze the published dataset. It explicitly leverages edge detection cues to guide attention for salient regions and suppresses the weights of non-salient features by attention normalization, which can alleviate the interference of sparse pixel distribution on damage detection. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed baseline significantly outperforms most existing methods on the existing RDD2020 dataset and the newly released CNRDD dataset. Corporate financial distress prediction research has been ongoing for more than half a century, during which many models have emerged, among which ensemble learning algorithms are the most accurate. Most of the state-of-the-art methods of recent years are based on gradient boosted decision trees. However, most of them do not consider using feature importance for feature selection, and a few of them use the feature importance method with bias, which may not reflect the true importance of features. To solve this problem, a heuristic algorithm based on permutation importance (PIMP) is proposed to modify the biased feature importance measure in this paper. This method ranks and filters the features used by machine learning models, which not only improves accuracy but also makes the results more interpretable. Based on financial data from 4,167 listed companies in China between 2001 and 2019, the experiment shows that compared with using the random forest (RF) wrapper method alone, the bias in feature importance is indeed corrected by combining the PIMP method. After the redundant features are removed, the performance of most machine learning models is improved. The PIMP method is a promising addition to the existing financial distress prediction methods. Background: Diagnosis-related groups (DRGs) are a payment system that could effectively solve the problem of excessive increases in healthcare costs which are applied as a principal measure in the healthcare reform in China. However, expert-oriented DRG grouping is a black box with the drawbacks of upcoding and high cost.Methods: This study proposes a method of data-based grouping, designed and updated by machine learning algorithms, which could be trained by real cases, or even simulated cases. It inherits the decision-making rules from the expert-oriented grouping and improves performance by incorporating continuous updates at low cost. Five typical classification algorithms were assessed and some suggestions were made for algorithm choice. The kappa coefficients were reported to evaluate the performance of grouping.Results: Based on tenfold cross-validation, experiments showed that data-based grouping had a similar classification performance to the expert-oriented grouping when choosing suitable algorithms. The groupings trained by simulated cases had less accuracy when they were tested by the real cases rather than simulated cases, but the kappa coefficients of the best model were still higher than 0.6. When the grouping was tested in a new DRGs system, the average kappa coefficients were significantly improved from 0.1534 to 0.6435 by the update; and with enough computation resources, the update process could be completed in a very short time.Conclusions: As a new potential option, the data-based grouping meets the requirements of the DRGs system and has the advantages of high transparency and low cost in the design and update process. In recent years, electricity stealing has been repeatedly prohibited, and as the methods of stealing electricity have become more intelligent and concealed, it is growing increasingly difficult to extract high-dimensional data features of power consumption. In order to solve this problem, a correlation model of power-consumption data based on convolutional neural networks (CNN) is established. First, the original user signal is preprocessed to remove the noise. The user signal with a fixed signal length is then intercepted and the parallel class labelled. The segmented user signals and corresponding labels are input into the convolutional neural network for training, and the trained convolutional neural network is then used to detect and classify the test user signals. Finally, the actual steal leak dataset is used to verify the effectiveness of this algorithm, which proves that the algorithm can effectively carry out anti–-electricity stealing by warning of abnormal power consumption behavior. There are lots of line traces on the surface of the broken ends which left in the cable cutting case crime scene along the high-speed railway in China. The line traces usually present nonlinear morphological features and has strong randomness. It is not very effective when using existing image-processing and three-dimensional scanning methods to do the trace comparison, therefore, a fast algorithm based on wavelet domain feature aiming at the nonlinear line traces is put forward to make fast trace analysis and infer the criminal tools. The proposed algorithm first applies wavelet decomposition to the 1-D signals which picked up by single point laser displacement sensor to partially reduce noises. After that, the dynamic time warping is employed to do trace feature similarity matching. Finally, using linear regression machine learning algorithm based on gradient descent method to do constant iteration. Validation is a crucial technique used to strengthen the application capabilities of earthobservation satellite data and solve the quality problems of remote-sensing products. Observing land-surface parameters in the field is one of the key steps of validation. Therefore, the demand for long-term stable validation stations has gradually increased. However, the current location-selection procedure of validation stations lacks a systematic and objective evaluation system. In this research, a data-driven selection of a land product validation station (DSS-LPV) based on Machine Learning is proposed. Firstly, we construct an evaluation indicator system in which all factors affecting the location of validation stations are divided into surface characteristics, atmospheric conditions and the social environment. Then, multi-scale evaluation grids are constructed and indicators are allocated for spatial evaluation. Finally, four Machine Learning (ML) methods are used to learn the established reliable stations, and different data-driven scoring models are constructed to explore the intrinsic relationship between evaluation indicators and station locations. In this article, the reliability of DSS-LPV is effectively validated by the example of China using the national-level land product validation station that has been established. After a comparison between the four ML models, the random forest (RF) with the highest accuracy was selected as the modeling method of DSS-LPV. The correlation between the regression value of test stations and the target value is 0.9133. The average score of test stations is 0.8304. The test stations are generally located within the calculated hot-spot area of the score density map, which means that it is highly consistent with the location of the built stations. Research results indicate that DSS-LPV is an effective method that can provide a reasonable geographical distribution of the stations. Dense Global Position System (GPS) arrays can be used to invert the terrestrial water-storage anomaly (TWSA) with higher accuracy. However, the uneven distribution of GPS stations greatly limits the application of GPS to derive the TWSA. Aiming to solve this problem, we grid the GPS array using regression to raise the reliability of TWSA inversion. First, the study uses the random forest (RF) model to simulate crustal deformation in unobserved grids. Meanwhile, the new Machine-Learning Loading-Inverted Method (MLLIM) is constructed based on the traditional GPS derived method to raise the truthfulness of TWSA inversion. Second, this research selects southwest China as the study region, the MLLIM and traditional GPS inversion methods are used to derive the TWSA, and the inverted results are contrasted with datasets of the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) Mascon and the Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS) model. The comparison shows that values of Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC) between the MLLIM and GRACE and GRACE Follow-On (GRACE-FO) are equal to 0.91 and 0.88, respectively; and the values of R-squared (R2) are equal to 0.76 and 0.65, respectively; the values of PCC and R2 between MLLIM and GLDAS solutions are equal to 0.79 and 0.65. Compared with the traditional GPS inversion, the MLLIM improves PCC and R2 by 8.85% and 7.99% on average, which indicates that the MLLIM can improve the accuracy of TWSA inversion more than the traditional GPS method. Third, this study applies the MLLIM to invert the TWSA in each province of southwest China and combines the precipitation to analyze the change of TWSA in each province. The results are as follows: (1) The spatial distribution of TWSA and precipitation is coincident, which is highlighted in southwest Yunnan and southeast Guangxi; (2) this study compares TWSA of MLLIM with GRACE and GLDAS solutions in each province, which indicates that the maximum value of PCC is as high as 0.86 and 0.94, respectively, which indicates the MLLIM can be used to invert the TWSA in the regions with sparse GPS stations.
