The residential and industrial construction industries are expanding quickly. Modern technology is necessary for this expansion. There are some applications where the traditional building materials utilised on a big scale are inappropriate. Therefore, research scientists throughout the world are working to evolve new building materials and techniques. A couple of the difficulties being addressed include the creation of materials for affordable homes and the development of expedient construction techniques. This is the primary driver for the development of cement in building technology. Ferrocement is different type of composite material which has been used in the industry for various purpose in various form. Ferrocement construction technique is believed to be one of the distinctive techniques of construction that now a days used in many countries. [1] Ferrocement, a composite material, is a thin-sectioned mortar that is heavily reinforced. Given that it is a composite material composed of wire mesh and cement mortar, it is important to determine if the two components are properly bonded. In this study, the binding strength of this composite material is examined by increasing the wire mesh's center-to-center distance from 15x15 mm to 25x25 mm and its diameter from 1.2 mm to 1.6 mm, respectively. On-site construction is being reduced these days to accomplish quick and time-saving building. In this, composite material is crucial. Performance-wise, cement-based composites outperform traditional RCC and PCC. A composite material using mortar and wire mesh for construction is Ferro cement. In this research ferrocement plates built up with Five types of meshes. The main aim of research was to inspect the effect of distinctive types of mesh as reinforcement in mortar specimen subjected to bending and select best one for future work. There are two factors of square welded mesh I.e., Diameterof wire mesh and opening of wire mesh respectively. Hence research go in two directions. In 1st case kept thickness of wire mesh constant and vary c/c opening. For this wire meshof specification 1.6mm diameter and (15 x 15) mm, (20 x 20) mm,(25x25) mm c/c opening were used respectively. In 2nd case kept opening constant and vary diameter of wire mesh. For this wire mesh of specification 15mm x 15mm opening and 1.2mm, 1.4mm,1.6mm diameter were used respectively. Total 15 numbers of specimen, 3 of each five types of size (200 x 400 x 18) mm were casted with 1:3 mix proportion mortar and 0.45 w/c ratio and tested under two-point loading systems on UTM after curing period of 28 days. The results were measured using TML strain gauge having 120-ohm resistance and 60mm gauge length. Findings demonstrate that specimens reinforced with 1.6 mm diameter and (20 x 20) mm c/c opening mesh have stronger flexural strength than the other four types of meshes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ferrocement is a composite material which made up of wire mesh is placed middle of the thickness of hydraulic cement mortar. Ferro cement is a material with good strength and stiffness, durable in terms of fireproof, corrosion-resistant and water tight material strength and its basic materials very inexpensive. Subjecting structural members to loads greater than their designed bearing capacity requires them to be strengthened or rehabilitated. One method of doing this is the addition of a ferrocement layer to the defective member. This paper thus aimed to investigate strengthening or rehabilitation ability of the ferrocement layer reinforcing with chopped rubber tire rather than standard fibres on RC beams. Five reinforced concrete beams of dimensions 750 × 150 × 200 mm were thus cast and cured, and these samples were then divided out. One beam was left as a reference, one beam was strengthened using wire mesh and ordinary cement mortar, and the others were strengthened using wire mesh and rubber chip reinforced mortar. One beam was subjected to 30% of its ultimate load before strengthening with a rubber chip reinforced ferrocement layer, while the other was subjected to 60% of its ultimate load before reinforcement. The results indicate that the addition of chips to the cement mortar of the ferrocement layer offered noticeable increases in failure load and deflection, of 55.6% and 13.6% respectively, as compared to those of beams strengthened with a ferrocement layer without such chips. As compared to the reference beam, without a ferrocement layer, the beam subjected to 30% of its bearing strength before reinforcement not only regained its first crack and failure load capacity on addition of a rubber chip-reinforced ferrocement layer, it also showed improvement by 64.8% and 72.8% in these measures, respectively. Such reinforcement also increased ductility compared to the reference beam by increasing the deflection at first crack and failure rate by 123% and 40%, respectively. Strengthening the beam subjected to 60% of its bearing strength using a rubber chip-reinforced ferrocement layer allowed it to not only regain its first crack and failure load capacity but also to improve these by 38.9 and 59.2%, respectively. The ductility of the beam was again improved based on am increase in the deflection to first crack and failure rate, by 66.7% and 29.4%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
