Study of constraints of stock emplacement and geometry on associated skarn orebodies is significant for the understanding of the epithermal deposit system. We have chosen the typical Tongguanshan skarn ore deposit (eastern China) as our target area. The Tongguanshan stock was emplaced at the NE–SW-striking Tongguanshan anticline and is characterized by macroscopically homogeneous quartz–monzodiorite. The magnetic parameters show that the stock is dominated by oblate magnetic ellipsoids and a high degree of anisotropy (> 1.1), and this value is higher at the stock margin. The strike of magnetic foliation at the stock margin is parallel to the stock boundary with sub-horizontal magnetic lineations. A vertical NE–SW-striking magnetic foliation, which is parallel to the regional structures, is revealed inside the stock. The three-dimensional geometric modelling shows that the stock has a tongue-like geometry and the contact surface in both eastern and western sides dips to the NW, but the western side is steeper. Nevertheless, the orebodies are almost developed at the eastern side. Accordingly, we propose that the Tongguanshan stock was constructed by multiple magma pulses, initiated at the SW part of the stock, and ascended along inherited NE–SW extended fractures in the Tongguanshan anticline. The successive magma pulses either accreted by a unilateral E-wards trend or by bilateral magma accretion, which resulted in a deformation difference in the contact zone and caused uneven orebody development. Our study also shows that the strike, dip angle and curvature situation of contact surface, which affects the water–rock reaction process and distribution of the dilation zone, are important ore-controlling factors. The Qiman Tagh W-Sn ore belt is located in the westernmost sector of the East Kunlun Orogen, NW China. It has been recognized as a unique W-Sn belt that formed in the early Paleozoic and related to closure of the Proto-Tethys. To understand the evolution of ore-forming fluids and its relationship with the tectonic setting of East Kunlun Orogen, we report the results obtained from fluid inclusion and H-O isotopic studies of ores and quartz veins for the Qiman Tagh W-Sn ore belt. Mineralization in Qiman Tagh includes four stages characterized by quartz-cassiterite-wolframite assemblage stage 1, quartz ± scheelite assemblage stage 2, quartz-polymetallic sulfides stage 3, and ore-barren veins stage 4. The former two stages are conducive to mineralization, while the latter two stages are less important. The fluid inclusions are distinguished between CO 2 -H 2 O (C-type) and NaCl-H 2 O (W-type) in composition, containing a trace of CH 4 , N 2 , C 2 H 6 , SO 2 , and CO 3 2– . Cassiterite and quartz in stage 1, instead of wolframite, contain a great deal of C-type inclusions. All inclusions in minerals of stage 1 yield homogenization temperatures of 230.1–384.1 °C (peaking at 310–320 °C), with salinities lower than 14.76 wt% NaCl equiv. and bulk densities of 0.63–0.89 g/cm 3 . The stage 2 minerals contain both two types of inclusions, yielding homogenization temperatures of 183.4–335.9 °C (peaking at 280–290 °C), with salinities lower than 14.53 wt% NaCl equiv. and bulk densities of 0.66–0.97 g/cm 3 . Fluid inclusions in minerals of stages 3 and 4 are mainly W-type and homogenized at temperatures of 140.6–277.6 °C (peaking 210–220 °C), and 116.9–255.1 °C (peaking 160–170 °C), respectively. The H-O isotopic systematics shows that the fluids were dominated by magmatic water in stages 1 and 2, but by meteoric water in stages 3 and 4. Integrating all the geological and geochemical data, we conclude that the fluids forming the Qiman Tagh W-Sn ore belt evolved from granite-derived, CO 2 -rich and reducing, to meteoric water-dominated, CO 2 -poor and oxidizing. The Yangshan gold deposit, Gansu Province, is the largest gold deposit in China and the best representative of the western Qinling gold province. Granite dykes can be observed in the orefield, of which some are spatially associated with the gold orebodies. Gold mineralization was debated between magmatic hydrothermal and metamorphic hydrothermal models in previous studies due to a shortage of precise isotopic ages of the granite dykes in the orefield. In this contribution, we report in-situ zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb ages combined with Hf isotope and REE data. The age of granite dykes is constrained to be 220.2 ± 3.1 Ma, coeval with the regional development of Triassic granitoids, which resulted from the northward subduction of the Mian-Lue oceanic plate. The εHf(t) values of inherited and new zircon grains from the granite dykes show that the granite dykes have a complex source dominated by sediments which were sourced from the North China Craton, Yangtze Craton and Qinling Orogen, and accumulated in a fore-arc setting. The granite dykes were derived from partial melting of the fore-arc sediment prism induced by the fluids sourced from metamorphic devolatilizaiton of the underthrust Mian-Lue oceanic plate. The Yangshan gold deposit was formed at about 190 Ma, some 30 Myr later than the intrusion of the granite dykes, ruling out the possibility that gold mineralization was caused by Triassic granitic magmatism. The Yangshan gold deposit is a transitional system between Carlin- and orogenic-types that resulted from continental collision orogeny, metallogeny and fluid flow. The Xunyang Hg-Sb orefield, Shaanxi Province, containing two large (Gongguan and Qingtonggou) and tens of small to medium Hg-Sb deposits, is located in the southern Qinling Orogen. Ore bodies of the deposits are hosted in Devonian dolomite and controlled by a fault system. Ores are mainly present as massive veins, disseminations, breccias and fine veinlets, with cinnabar (Hg) and stibnite (Sb) being the dominant ore minerals. Gangue minerals include quartz, calcite and dolomite. Hydrothermal minerals (quartz and calcite) only contain aqueous fluid inclusions with low homogenization temperature (135-274 °C) and salinity (1.23-12.3 wt.% NaCl equiv.), supporting an epizonogenic hydrothermal origin. The carbon, oxygen and hydrogen isotope data indicate that the ore-forming fluids were mainly sourced from epizonogenic to metamorphic devolatilization of the Sinian−Triassic strata that possibly underthrusted beneath the orefield, with inflow of the circulating meteoric water. Sulphur isotope ratios of stibnite and cinnabar range from 2‰ to 12‰, suggesting a contribution from sedimentary sulphate or sulphate-bearing fluids potted in strata, which is coincident with the δ34S values (3.4-8.6‰) of diagenetic pyrite in the strata. The conclusion drawn from sulphur isotopes is fully supported by the Pb isotope signatures. In addition, the 87Sr/86Sr ratios gradationally increase from ore-hosting dolostones, through ore-barren calcite or low-grade ores, to high-grade ores, indicating that a portion of the fluids originated from a source with higher 87Sr/86Sr values than the host-rocks, which is possibly composed of the Neoproterozoic−Lower Palaeozoic basement of the Xunyang Basin. Integrating the data from ore geology, fluid inclusion microthermometry and stable, radioactive isotope geochemistry, it can be concluded that the deposits in the Xunyang Hg-Sb orefield were formed by epizonogenic hydrothermal fluids mainly sourced from the strata via structural deformation during the North China−Yangtze continental collision. The Wenyu giant gold deposit is hosted in the Precambrian Taihua Supergroup metamorphic rocks within the Xiaoqinling terrane (Qinling Orogen), on the southern margin of the North China Craton. The mineralization can be divided into three stages: quartz–pyrite veins early, quartz–sulfide veins middle (main), and carbonate–quartz veinlets late, with gold being mainly introduced in main stage. Quartz formed in two earlier stages contains three compositional types of fluid inclusions, i.e. pure CO2, CO2–H2O and NaCl–H2O, but the late-stage minerals only contain the NaCl–H2O inclusions. The inclusions in quartz formed in the early, main and late stages yield total homogenization temperatures of 262–417°C, 236–407°C and 114–239°C, respectively, with salinities no higher than 13wt.% NaCl equiv. Trapping pressures estimated from CO2–H2O inclusions are 139–399MPa and 111–316MPa in the early and main stages, corresponding to mineralization depths of 14km and 11km, respectively. Fluid boiling and mixing caused rapid precipitation of sulfides and native Au. Through boiling and inflow of meteoric water, the ore-forming fluid system evolved from CO2-rich to CO2-poor in composition, and from metamorphic to meteoric, as indicated by decreasing δ18Owater values from early to late. The carbon, sulfur and lead isotope compositions suggest the hostrocks within the Taihua Supergroup to be a significant source of ore metals. Integrating the data obtained from the studies including regional geology, ore geology, fluid inclusion and C–H–O–S–Pb isotope geochemistry, we conclude that the Wenyu gold deposit was an orogenic-type system formed in the tectonic transition from compression to extension during the Jurassic–Early Cretaceous continental collision between the North China and Yangtze Cratons. The Eastern Qinling, Central China, containing more than 20 Mesozoic porphyry±skarn systems, is the most important Mo province in the world. The Shangfanggou giant Mo deposit, Luanchuan County, Henan Province, is a porphyry-skarn system hosted in a lithologic association comprising carbonaceous sandstone, shale, carbonate and chert within the Neoproterozoic Luanchuan Group. Mo ores are mainly altered porphyry, skarn and hornfels, with minor altered gabbro. The mineralization process includes four stages, potassic alteration of the porphyry and skarnization of dolomite marble in stage 1, stockworks of quartz+molybdenite±sulfide (stage 2), pyrite+quartz±sulfides (stage 3), and carbonate±quartz±fluorite (stage 4), respectively. Mo mineralization was generally associated with strong silicification and/or phyllic alteration. The fluid inclusions in minerals include three compositional types, i.e., CO2-bearing (C-type), aqueous (W-type) and daughter mineral-bearing (S-type). Minerals formed in stages 1 to 3 contain all the three types of FIs, but the stage 4 minerals only contain the W-type FIs. Oxides and Cu-phosphate are recognized as daughter minerals in S-type inclusions in minerals of stage 1, whereas the daughter sulfide and reducing gases such as CO, CH4, H2S and C2H6 can be observed in quartz of stages 2 and 3, suggesting that the ore-forming fluids were initially oxidizing and then evolved to reducing. Boiling fluid inclusion assemblages can be observed in minerals formed in stage 2 or earlier, but not in stage 3 or later. Fluid boiling caused CO2 escape, oxygen fugacity decrease and rapid precipitation of ore minerals, and was a key factor causing Mo-mineralization at Shangfanggou. Data and interpretations presented in this contribution show that the fluids forming the Shangfanggou Mo deposit evolved from CO2-rich, high-salinity hypothermal, to CO2-poor, low-salinity epithermal (low-T). The Mo mineralization at the Shangfanggou deposit mainly occurred at depth of 6.6–7.0km, deeper than the majority of porphyry systems in volcanic arcs, which resulted from a CO2-rich magma–fluid system originating from partial melting of thickened lower crust. The Shangfanggou mineral system developed during 158–134Ma when the Yangtze–North China continental collision began to evolve from compression to extension. Abstract: The Qiyugou gold deposits, Henan Province, are hosted in breccia pipes within the Xiong''er terrane (Qinling Orogen), on the southern margin of the North China Craton. In these deposits three paragenetic assemblages have been recognized: an early K-feldspar–epidote–quartz–pyrite; a middle quartz-polymetallic sulfide; and a late quartz–carbonate±adularia. In this paper we review and interpret fluid inclusion and stable and radiogenic isotopic data of host rocks and ores. Fluid inclusions in quartz and calcite include water-rich, CO2-rich, and daughter crystal-bearing. The CO2-rich and daughter mineral-bearing fluid inclusions are common in the early-stage quartz and absent in the late-stage quartz and calcite which only contain water-rich fluid inclusions. Accordingly, the early-stage ore-fluids are magmatic in origin and characterized by high-temperature (>350 °C), high-salinity (>30 wt.% NaCl equiv.), and are CO2-rich. Fluid-boiling in the middle ore stage resulted in CO2-release, decreasing oxygen fugacity and rapid precipitation of ore materials. The late stage fluids, have low-temperature, low-salinity, are CO2-poor and lack daughter minerals. These fluids are probably sourced from meteoric water. H–O–C isotope systematics confirm that, the ore–fluid system evolved from magmatic to meteoric. The carbon and lead isotope ratios indicate that the Meso-Neoproterozoic sequence south of the Xiong''er terrane was the likely source of the ore-forming materials. The Qiyugou breccia-pipes and their associated gold ores were emplaced during an extensional regime following a transition from collision to rifting tectonics, linked to collision and subduction of the Yangtze plate beneath the North China Craton. Geochronological studies show that Mesozoic magmatism in the region occurred between the Triassic and Cretaceous. The Triassic to Jurassic magmas were mostly derived from partial melting of ancient crust, whereas the Cretaceous magmas show juvenile signatures, indicating mantle-derived components. Processes of fragmentation of lithospheric roots, crustal and lithospheric thinning, extension and rifting were probably associated with the subducting Pacific (Izanagi) plate. These crust–mantle geodynamic processes were responsible for the development of anorogenic granitic melts that interacted with the Meso-Neoproterozoic volatile-rich sedimentary successions, producing a flow of gas-rich hydrothermal fluids that resulted in the emplacement of the Qiyugou auriferous breccia pipes. We conclude that the Qiyugou gold deposits are intrusion-related explosive breccia pipe-type that evolved from hypothermal through mesothermal to epithermal. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The Shanggong Au deposit in the Xiong’er Terrane, East Qinling, China, has resources of about 30 ton Au, making it one of the largest orogenic-mesothermal Au deposits hosted in volcanic rocks of the Mesoproterozoic Xiong’er Group. Three stages of hydrothermal activity are recognized (early, middle and late), of which two (early and middle) were ore producing and characterized by quartz–pyrite and polymetallic sulfides, respectively. The third and late stage is represented by a carbonate–quartz assemblage. Hydrogen, oxygen and carbon isotope systematics of the Shanggong deposit from a previous work suggest that the early stage fluids were derived from magmatic and/or metamorphic devolatilization of sedimentary rocks at depth. This is supported by new C, S and published Sr and Pb isotopic data, presented in this paper. These new data, δ13C values ranging from 1.5 ‰ for early stage ankerite to −2.2 ‰ for late stage ankerite, negative δ34S values for sulfides from the middle stage (–19.2 to –6.3 ‰), suggest a contribution from organic matter and that the ore fluid evolved from deeply sourced to shallowly sourced, with those of the middle stage representing a mixture of these two fluid systems. The comparison of the hydrogen–oxygen–carbon–sulfur–lead–strontium isotope systematics between the Shanggong deposit and the main lithologies in the Xiong’er Terrane, shows that neither these nor the underlying lower crust and mantle, or combinations thereof, could be considered as the source of ore fluids for the Shanggong Au deposit. A likely source was a carbonaceous carbonate, sandstone, shale, chert sequence in the underthrusted Guandaokou and Luanchuan Groups, exposed south of the Xiong’er Terrane. Ar–Ar and Rb–Sr isochron ages for mineral phases of the early, middle and late stages, together with geological field data, constrain the timing of the hydrothermal activity and Au metallogenesis at 242±10, 167±7 and 112±7Ma, respectively. This metallogenesis and associated granitic magmatism, can be related to the continental collision between the Yangtze and North China Cratons that resulted in the formation of the Qinling Orogen, led to the different hydrothermal systems that were responsible for the three stages that formed the Shanggong Au deposit, over a period of about 130Myrs. The Keketale Pb–Zn deposit is located in the Devonian volcanic-sedimentary Maizi basin of the Altay orogenic belt. The mineralization at Keketale is hosted in marbles and deformed volcanic tuffs and biotite–garnet–chlorite schists, folded into a series of overturned synclines formed in multiple deformation events. Keketale contains economic amounts of Pb (0.89Mt @ 1.51wt.%), Zn (1.94Mt @ 3.16wt.%) and Ag (650t @ 40g/t). Detailed petrographic studies have defined two main generations of sulfide development. The banded pyrite of the early Stage A is commonly stratiform, with minor galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite. Stage B is characterized by a large amount of polymetallic sulfides including pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena, with minor pyrite hosted in quartz veins. Three types of fluid inclusions (FIs), including mixed carbonic-aqueous (C-type), pure carbonic (PC-type) and aqueous (W-type), have been recognized in quartz of stage B. The C-type FIs have homogenization temperatures of 150–326°C and salinities of 0.2–16.6wt.% NaCl equivalent. The PC-type FIs are dominated by CO2 with minor CH4 and N2 and have initial ice-melting temperatures of −57.5 to −56.7°C, CO2 homogenization temperatures of 11–14.1°C. The W-type primary FIs were completely homogenized at temperatures of 124–359°C with salinities of 5.0–14.6wt.% NaCl equivalent. Such CO2-rich fluid inclusions are consistent with those discovered in orogenic-type deposits in the Altay area and elsewhere. Muscovite separates from the polymetallic quartz veinlets of stage B yield a well-defined 40Ar/39Ar isotopic plateau age of 259.33±2.56Ma, with an isochron age of 259.62±2.65Ma. This age is coeval with the closure of the Paleo-Asia Ocean and reactivation of the Ertix Fault system. LA-ICP-MS analyses of two generations of pyrite indicate that the banded pyrite of stage A is relatively depleted in metallic elements and contains low contents of Cu (0.39ppm), Ag (0.20ppm), Au (below the detection limits), Pb (17.43ppm) and Zn (14.38ppm); whereas the pyrite in quartz–polymetallic sulfide veinlets of the stage B is relatively rich in metallic elements, e.g., Cu (2.56ppm), Ag (3.07ppm), Au (0.01ppm), Pb (1047ppm) and Zn (1136ppm). The trace amounts of Cu, Pb, Zn, Au and Ag are interpreted to have been initially locked in the lattice of type-A pyrite, and then liberated and precipitated as micromineral inclusions with type-B pyrite during subsequent metamorphism and deformation. Two key factors are considered vital to the formation of economic ores of the Keketale Pb–Zn deposit, namely the original Devonian banded pyrite formed in a VMS system and subsequent Permian deformation and metamorphic processes that liberated Cu, Pb, Zn, Au and Ag from the lattice of type-A pyrite to form galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite with minor muscovite in quartz veinlets. The model provides a new interpretation of VMS Pb–Zn deposit occurring in back-arc basin environments followed by collision, and new insights into the unique regional Fe–Cu–Pb–Zn–Au mineralization in the Altay orogenic belt. We present a study on the Dongguashan quartz diorite stock which is the largest Early Cretaceous intrusion associated with skarn-porphyry polymetallic ore deposit in the Tongling Ore Cluster, Middle-Lower Yangtze Metallogenic Belt in East China. The Dongguashan quartz diorite show massive texture without obvious foliation, and intrusive contact was locally observed inside of the stock. The anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) results of the stock show two distinct groups. The Group I (G-I) is dominated by NE-SW-striking magnetic foliation with variably oriented magnetic lineation. The Group II (G-II) that intruded into G-I is characterized by steep NW-SE-striking magnetic foliation and lineation, which are parallel to the vein-like orebody developed in the stock. The 3D geometrical modelling of the stock displays a triangular shape in plan-view with an eastward bulge and irregular stock boundary in the eastern side and the contact surface is steeper in the west than that in the east, denoting that the stock was constructed with an eastward magma accretion trend. Furthermore, the Dongguashan quartz diorite has a wide range of composition and geochronological data, suggesting a multiple magma pulses emplacement model. Accordingly, we propose that the Dongguashan stock was constructed by at least two stages magma pulses. The earlier stage magma pulses intruded along the NE-SW-striking pre-emplacement structures in the country rock and partly intruded into the lithological and mechanical discontinuous interfaces which yielded the stratabound skarn orebody. The eastward magma accretion produced a highly deformed and longer heated country rock on the eastern side of the stock, favoring the orebody development along the eastern stock-country rock contact interface. The late-stage magma pulse and the parallelism among the trend of magnetic foliation of G-II, extensional structure and vein-like orebody suggest that the vein-type orebodies may controlled by both magma emplacement and regional tectonics. Tourmaline is a chemically and mechanically stable mineral that commonly occurs in hydrothermal mineral systems, and has been used to trace the mineralization processes of many genetic types of ore deposits. Here we apply tourmaline chemistry and isotopic composition to trace the genesis of a porphyry Mo system for the first time. Tourmaline is widespread in the Donggebi Mo deposit in East Tianshan, NW China, where it occurs in five distinct associations: type PG disseminated in the porphyritic granite, TS as hydrothermal tourmalite in the country rocks (strata), V1 in quartz-molybdenite vein, V2 in quartz-polymetallic sulfide vein, and V3 quartz-calcite-fluorite vein. All the tourmaline types belong to the alkali group, with the V3 being schorl and the other types being dravite and schorl. The PG-type tourmalines partly inherit the features of the porphyritic granite, and are rich in F, Na, Al and Sc, and poor in Fe, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Pb, V and Mo compared to the other types. They have low Fe3+ concentrations and low Fe3+/(Fe3++Fe2+) ratios, suggesting a reducing fluid system. They also display weaker Eu-depletion (with an average (Eu/Eu*) N value of 0.96) than the porphyritic granite, and are considered to be the products of interaction of the reducing fluids and the granites. The average (Eu/Eu*) N values of tourmalines decrease from 6.66 of type V1, 5.65 of type V2, to 4.80 of type V3, indicating that the fluids became progressively less reducing along with sulfide precipitation. The δ11B values of the tourmalines range between −15.9 ‰ and −12.5 ‰, resembling those of S-type granites or clastic sediment-sourced hydrothermal fluids. The tourmaline grains in our study do not display any remarkable δ11B variation from the cores to rims, indicating that the δ11B values of the fluids and their source were relatively constant. The Western Tianshan in NW China is one of the most important gold provinces in the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). The recently discovered Kuruer Cu-Au deposit has been interpreted to represent a transition from high-sulfidation epithermal to porphyry mineralization system. In this study, we present new LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb ages for the many magmatic rock types at Kuruer, including the Dahalajunshan Formation andesitic tuff (333.2 ± 1.6 Ma), diorite porphyry (269.7 ± 2.0 Ma), slightly-altered (264.4 ± 2.6 Ma) and intensively-altered (270.5 ± 2.5 Ma) albite porphyry. These ages reveal two distinct magmatic episodes: The Early Carboniferous Dahalajunshan Formation (wall rocks) andesitic tuff samples contain narrow ranges of SiO 2 (60.29–61.28 wt.%), TiO 2 (0.96–0.98 wt.%), Al 2 O 3 (16.55–16.57 wt.%) and Fe 2 O 3 T (5.36–5.57 wt.%). The tuff is characterized by LREE enrichment and HFSE depletion, as well as LREE/HREE enrichment ((La/Yb) N = 8.31–8.76) and negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.64–0.76). Zircon ε Hf (t) values are 5.4–8.2, and two-stage Hf model ages ( T DM2 ) are 821–1016 Ma, indicating partial melting of a moderately depleted mantle wedge with Precambrian continental crustal input. The ore-forming Middle Permian diorite porphyry and (quartz) albite porphyry have variable major oxide compositions (e.g., SiO 2 = 53.09–53.12 wt.% for the diorite porphyry, 70.84–78.03 wt.% for the albite porphyry, and 74.07–75.03 wt.% for the quartz albite porphyry) but similar chondrite-normalized REE and primitive mantle-normalized multi-element patterns. These porphyries display LREE enrichment and HFSE depletion, as well as elevated LREE/HREE enrichment and negative Eu anomalies. The positive zircon ε Hf (t) values (11.7–15.9 for the diorite porphyry, 8.9–14.9 for the albite porphyry) and young two-stage Hf model ages ( T DM2 ) (282–542 Ma for the diorite porphyry, 337–717 Ma for the albite porphyry) indicate a major juvenile continental crustal involvement. We propose that the Carboniferous and Middle Permian magmatism was formed in a continental arc and post-collisional settings, respectively, with the latter episode responsible for the Cu-Au mineralization. The Kalatag Cu–Zn–Au district contains a number of economically important Cu deposits in eastern Tianshan in Xinjiang, NW China. Due to the lack of precise mineralization ages, the metallogenesis of this area has long been a matter of debate. In this study, chalcopyrite Re–Os isotope methods are used to date the South Meiling Cu–Zn and Hongshi Cu deposits in the eastern part of Kalatag area. The South Meiling Cu–Zn deposit is hosted in volcanic-sedimentary rocks of the Late Ordovician to Early Silurian Daliugou Formation. The deposit consists of two parts: a concordant massive sulfide ores and discordant vein-type ores located in the footwall strata. The principal ore minerals are pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, minor tetrahedrite, galena and pyrrhotite. Gangue minerals include quartz, sericite and barite, and minor chlorite, plagioclase and carbonate minerals. The Hongshi Cu deposit represents a hydrothermal vein system hosted in the mafic volcanic rocks of Daliugou Formation. The orebodies are associated with quartz veins and controlled by subsidiary faults of the Kalatag fault. The ore-forming process can be divided into the early, middle and late stages and is characterized by quartz–pyrite, quartz–chalcopyrite–pyrite and quartz–carbonate–gypsum veins, respectively. Re–Os analyses of chalcopyrite from the South Meiling Cu–Zn deposit yield an isochron age of 434.2 ± 3.9 Ma and initial 187 Os/ 188 Os ratio of 0.647 ± 0.098 (MSWD = 0.59). Re–Os analyses of chalcopyrite from the Hongshi Cu deposit yield an isochron age of 431.8 ± 2.7 Ma and initial 187 Os/ 188 Os ratio of − 0.165 ± 0.075 (MSWD = 0.77). Since chalcopyrite is the primary copper mineral, we interpret these isochron ages as the timing of Cu mineralization, based on field geology and petrographic evidence. These results suggest that the Re–Os ages presented here provide, for the first time, a direct constraint on an early Paleozoic Cu mineralization event of the eastern Tianshan Orogen. The high initial 187 Os/ 188 Os ratios (0.647 ± 0.098) ratio of ~ 434 Ma chalcopyrite from the South Meiling deposit suggest that the metal was sourced from a two end-member mixing of crust and mantle materials. Moreover, we propose that the VMS mineral system and hydrothermal vein system of the Kalatag district were related to the south-dipping subduction of the Kalamaili oceanic plate during the Late Ordovician–Silurian. Tourmaline is widespread in the Baiganhu W–Sn deposit, Xinjiang Province, NW China. In this study, electron microprobe analysis reveals that tourmaline in the Baiganhu deposit belongs to the alkali and X-site group with low Ca and moderate X site vacancy, all beyond the confines of schorl–dravite series, with Na/(Na + Ca) and Fe/(Fe + Mg) ratios ranging from 0.769 to 0.965 and 0.518 to 0.822, respectively. In chemical discrimination diagrams, the tourmaline samples plot in the fields of Li-poor granite, associated with Al-saturated metapelites and metapsammites. The tourmaline cores are depleted in Mg, Ca, Ti, but enriched in Al and Fe compared to the rims. Substitution mechanisms for the compositional variations are dominantly due to MgFe − 1 , □Al(NaFe) − 1 , □Al(NaMg) − 1 , and AlO(Fe − 1 (OH)) − 1 exchange vectors. The δ 11 B values of the tourmalines range from − 12.9 to − 7.9‰, with a slight variation between cores and rims, which reflect a common boron source, and also indicate that the tourmaline crystallized during a single magmatic-hydrothermal event related to monzogranite. • The Qi189 porphyry gold deposit is a collisional-type porphyry ore deposit. • The Qi189 gold system was formed during 130–127 Ma. • The ore sources involve the crustal material, with a minor mantle component. • Mineralization and related magmatism occurred in post-collisional setting. The Qi189 gold deposit is a recently discovered porphyry system in the Qiyugou Orefield, located in the northeastern Qinling Orogen along the southern margin of North China Craton. The orebodies are hosted in the porphyritic granite emplaced in the Taihua Supergroup. Three molybdenite and five pyrite samples from the ores yield Re–Os isochron ages of 129.5 ± 2.8 Ma and 127.5 ± 8.2 Ma, respectively, which are coincident with the zircon U–Pb age of the porphyritic granite within analytical error (128.6 ± 0.8 Ma). Zircon grains from the post-ore quartz monzonite yield weighted mean 206Pb/238U age of 124.7 ± 0.6 Ma (n = 31, 1σ, MSWD = 0.23). These ages constrain that the Qi189 gold system was formed in the period of 130–127 Ma. The porphyritic granite and quartz monzonite show high-K calc-alkaline affinity, enrichment of LREE and LILE, depletion of HREE and HFSE, and negligible Eu anomaly. Zircon grains show negative ε Hf(t) values of −20.7 to −14.9, with T DM2 (Hf) ages of 2.49–2.13 Ga. This indicates that the Qi189 porphyry system originated from a source mixed by the materials from the North Qinling Accretion Belt and the basement of North China Craton, with minor contribution from the mantle, and developed under a post-collisional tectonic setting.
