Current paper reports the findings of a content analysis of Open Educational Resources. Twenty three studies were collected for the analysis. The studies were collected from different journals depending on open access policy. Every study was categorised by author, year of publication, title of the study, author characteristics and analysis. The analysis refers to the information about Open Educational Resources variables. Therefore the investigators categorize the research papers based on OER. An analysis of research papers was formed in conclusion and finalizing the common dimensions of content analysis of OER studies.

The higher education efficiency evaluation model using the data envelopment analysis method has interested many researchers. This paper uses bibliometric analysis on publications extracted from the Scopus database to provide a comprehensive overview of research publications on the measurement of higher education efficiency based on data envelopment analysis: its growth rate, major collaboration networks, the most important and popular research topic. A total of 169 related publications were collected and analyzed from 1988 to 2021. The analysis results show that: Publications published every year have increased sharply in the last six years; The quality of publications is relatively high as publications tend to be published in journals with high-ranking indexes; Countries with the most influence in studies on this topic are: Italy, China, Spain, the USA, and the United Kingdom; Authors with the most influence in this research direction are Agasisti T., Abbott M., Doucouliagos C., Avkiran N.K., and Johnes J.; The research cooperation among countries and among affiliations is not strong. Finally, the paper has provided recommendations for future studies based on the findings.

In this work, a bibliometric analysis of the investigations of the last 54 years focused on the teaching of topology and its applications in the learning of other areas of knowledge was carried out. The articles that appear in the SCOPUS database were taken into account under the search criteria of the words topology and teaching, connected with the Boolean expression AND in the search field ABS. As a result, 329 articles were obtained which, based on the PRISMA methodology, were reduced to 74 papers. In them publication trends, impact of publications, citation frequencies, among others, were compared. In addition, its use was identified for learning topology at different levels of training, areas of knowledge where this discipline is most applied and strategies used to teach these applications.

Objectives: The main objective of this research is to identify highly cited papers in clinical pharmacology and to analyze their publication and citation data to study their citation characteristics, and understand what role contributing authors, participating research organizations as well as international collaborative countries play in Indian clinical pharmacology research. Design: The publications output of Indian clinical pharmacology papers published during 2000-14 were screened in Scopus database and highly cited papers, with at least 100 citations since publication, were identified and shortlisted for their bibliometric analysis. The statistics cover collaboration across authors, institutions, foreign participating countries in the publication of highly cited papers. To assess comparative contributions of authors/organizations, a new indicator, the Major Contributor Index (MCI), was used. Citation trends for all papers, as well as for top papers, are presented. Results: A total of 76 highly cited articles, constituting 1.45% share of world highly cited papers output and 0.75% share of India's publications output, were published by India in clinical pharmacology output during 2000-14. This study covered only those papers that received at least 100 citations since publication. In recent years, top-cited articles have reached their citation peak in the early years of their citation life cycle, but have shown a more-rapid decreasing trend compared to top-cited articles from past decades. These 76 highly articles have received 14059 citations, with an average citation per paper of 184.99. The leading Indian organizations participating in highly cited research papers were All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (7 papers), Panjab University, Chandigarh (6 papers), Jadavpur University, Kolkata (5 papers), National Institute of Mental Health & Allied Sciences, Bangalore, Aligarh Muslim University, Annamalai University, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Sathyabama University, Guru Jambeshwar University, Hisar, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh, Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar and Drug Research & Development Center, Kolkata (2 papers each). The leading authors were S.K. Bhattacharya (3 papers), J.K. Grover, S.P. Yadav, S. Garg, A.K. Singla, A.Garg, S. Ghosal, A. Bhattacharya, S. Khanna, A. Bhattacharya, S. Praveen and S.K.Sahoo (2 papers each). The leading international collaborative countries were USA (10 papers), Germany and U.K. (3 papers each), Japan, Russia Federation, Belgium and Canada (2 papers each). The MCI varied among leading organizations, as well as among individual authors. Conclusions: The output of highly cited papers by Indian authors in clinical pharmacology is still not significant given the fact that 208 authors contributed only one paper each once in 15 years, 11 contributed two papers each once in 15 years, and 1 contributed three papers once in 15 years. India still ranks 10th highest country with 1.45% share to the world output of highly cited papers compared to 61.41% share by USA. The quality of research in clinical pharmacology in India is though growing significantly over time, but there is very little evidence of corresponding growth in publication rate of highly cited papers in India. In this paper we review fifty years of articles published in Australian Journal of Adult Learning in its various iterations. We examine the different roles of the journal: to illuminate the history and trends of adult education authors; to be the flagship of the adult education profession in Australia; to reflect on significant national events; and to mirror the changing knowledge base of the discipline. We analyse the authorship of the articles over fifty years, and determine patterns in contribution to the journal by gender, location, institutional affiliation and author numbers. We also examine key themes that have surfaced in the writings on adult education. The articles published in the journal are significant because they are primary sources of the day, unfettered by the perspectives, viewpoints and standards of later periods. Our paper serves as a useful looking glass through which we might be able to view more clearly the shifting research interests of the past and the challenges in the future for the adult and community learning sector. This review paper synthesizes peer-reviewed empirical research published between 2010 and 2021 about wildland fire communication practices. Our goal was to systematically review and provide an overview of how wildland fire communication has been empirically studied, and theoretical and methodological underpinnings and representativeness of this work. We found that researchers employ diverse theoretical and methodological approaches, yet most work originates from the western United States or Australia. Studies were published in diverse disciplinary journals, most frequently looked at residents as study subjects, and many sought to understand the effectiveness of communication. There is a need to build theoretical and methodological consistency in wildland fire communication research.

Purpose: This paper aims to present a comprehensive review of the present state and trends of smart education research. It addresses the need to have a systematic review of smart education to depict its research landscape in view of the growing volume of related publications. Design/methodology/approach: A bibliometric analysis of publications on smart education published in 2011 to 2020 was conducted, covering their patterns and trends in terms of collaboration, key publications, major topics and trends. A total of 1,317 publications with 29,317 cited references were collected from the Web of Science and Scopus for the bibliometric analysis. Findings: Research on smart education has been widely published in various sources. The most frequently cited references are all theoretical or discussion articles. Researchers in the USA, China, South Korea, India and Russia have been most active in research collaborations. However, international collaborations have remained infrequent except for those involving the USA. The research on smart education broadly covered smart technologies as well as teaching and learning. The emerging topics have addressed areas such as the Internet of Things, big data, flipped learning and gamification. Originality/value: This study depicts the intellectual landscape of smart education research, and illustrated the evolution and emerging trends in the field. The results highlight its latest developments and research needs, and suggest future work related to research collaborations on a larger scale and more studies on smart pedagogies.

Indian universities have been facing difficulty getting world-class status as a very few Indian higher educational institutions have made it through the global rankings. We need to understand the unique challenges of the Indian higher education sector and what academic leaders of globally ranked institutions do to respond to those challenges. The interview-based qualitative study was designed to identify the key roles and responsibilities of leaders. Nvivo Pro was used for the initial analysis of the interview scripts of twelve academic leaders of globally ranked higher educational institutions. Nine responsibilities -- visioning, fundraising, safeguarding, managing intellectuals, attracting bright students, social inclusion, social responsibility, engaging into academics, and administration -- were explored under four latent categories of academic leadership roles that included boundary spanning, nurturing human talent, social contribution, and operations using a 'six-step thematic analysis approach'. These roles are discussed in the 'Results and discussion' section with respect to the challenges that the Indian higher education sector faces. Our paper identified a unique emerging theme 'social inclusion' that plays a vital role in the worldwide status of Indian higher education. We provide a few guidelines for developing and strengthening Indian academic leadership as well.

Classification of higher education institutions (HEIs) of a country allows viewing higher education as a differentiated system which respects the diversity of purposes and aspirations of different HEIs. Classification is fundamentally different from ranking, which aims to rank universities in order with higher ranked HEIs being "better" than lower ranked ones. In classification, the universities in a class are grouped by their purpose and mission, and no attempt is made to rank them. Carnegie Classification of universities in the USA is the oldest classification system, which groups universities into a few categories like Research Universities, Masters Universities, Baccalaureate Universities, and Secondary. This classification has been found extremely useful over decades for various purposes including policy making and planning. This has thus motivated similar exercises in many other countries, particularly for research universities. In this paper, we evolve an approach to classify research universities in India, based on the Carnegie Classification approach. We propose a simple basic criterion for identifying research universities, and apply it to the top 100 universities and top 100 engineering institutions in India. Using this criteria, 40 universities and 32 engineering institutions were identified as research HEIs. Based on the data on the level of research activity in these HEIs, we apply a clustering approach similar to the one Carnegie uses to group research HEIs into two sub-categories, viz. "highest research activity" and "moderate research activity". The clustering approach identified six universities and eight engineering institutions in India to be in the highest research activity category. The level of research activity uses data on the number of full time PhD students, the number of faculty, research grants, and publications.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to analyse the research trends on the Indian Open and Distance Education (ODE) system as reflected in the articles published in the prominent journals of distance education across the world. Design/methodology/approach: A study was undertaken to review the research articles on ODE in India published in 11 prominent peer-reviewed journals of distance education during the period 2010-2019. Content analysis was done to find out areas of research undertaken in the ODE of India based on a validated classification of research areas; types of research studies conducted; and authorship and publication patterns. Findings: Out of a total of 2,571 articles published in 11 selected journals, only 191 (7.42%) pertained to ODE in India. The majority of these 191 articles (68.42%) were published in Indian journals. The Indian and Asian journals together accounted for 93.55% of total articles. Globally, the share of articles on the Indian ODE system was significantly low ranging between 4.27 and a maximum of 10.77%, which was much below expectations from a country having the maximum number of ODE learners in the world. Results further revealed that 63% of the contributors to research on ODE in India were affiliated to Indira Gandhi National Open University. Research limitations/implications: The limitation of this study was only analysing the research articles published in journals of distance education and other types of articles, namely, book reviews, editorials, field notes and workshop reports were excluded from the analysis. Practical implications: The study is intended to help researchers, policymakers, and open and distance education institutions to draw a roadmap for the promotion and conduct of system-based research, which would be vital for strengthening the system. Social implications: The quantum of research is not proportionate to the number of faculty members working in the ODE system of India and the large number of learners that it serves, which is a matter of concern. For any system to grow its periodic systemic review is essential. The research outcomes need to be ploughed back into the system for its betterment. Originality/value: The study is original. There is no such study undertaken till date. This study will be extremely useful to researchers, as the gaps in distance education research which are yet to be addressed, have been identified by the authors.

This paper evaluates the distribution of papers published by Asian authors in Operations Research and Management Science (OR/MS) journals from 1968 to 2006. The impact of OR/MS research in Asia is compared with that of the United States and the World, and research trends are highlighted through an analysis of keywords. From 1968 to 2006, 89,293 papers were published in 60 OR/MS journals. Of these, 41.4% came from USA and 16.6% came from seven Asian countries/regions. The contribution of different countries/regions is as follows: Japan 3.7%, Taiwan 3.2%, India 2.3%, Hong Kong 2.2%, South Korea 2.1%, People's Republic of China (PRC) 1.9%, and Singapore 1.2%. Among all the articles analyzed, 20% have a single author, and 9% have more than three authors; additionally, 22 papers have been cited more than 100 times and 29% have never been cited. Most articles originating in Japan, Taiwan, India, South Korea, PRC, and Singapore are produced in collaboration with local scholars, followed by authors from the United States. Hong Kong is a notable exception, 73% of articles from Hong Kong are produced in cooperation with the PRC, followed by local scholars. The five most productive institutions are as follows: The Indian Institute of Technology, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, the National University of Singapore, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the National Chiao-Tung University (Taiwan). Growth is a concept of particular interest for economic discourse. This paper sets out to explore a small corpus of economic growth, which consists of articles from "The Economist". The corpus software used in this study is a web-based tool Wmatrix, an automatic tagging software able to assign semantic field (domain) tags, and to permit the extraction of key words and key semantic domains by applying the keyness calculation to tag frequency lists. The results show that at 99% confidence (or p < 0.01), the cut-off of 6.63 (log likelihood value) indicates that there are 1051 positive keywords (including multiword expressions) and 80 key semantic domains generated from the corpus. It is evident that BRICs or the emerging economies/markets, in particular China and India, are a big concern regarding economic growth over the past years. A number of examples of possible ways forward in teaching methodology are presented.

Every text has a communicative purpose that it performs by dividing itself into generic stages. These stages are assigned specific goals and have differing linguistic structures. This paper makes an attempt to investigate whether there is a definable co-relation between linguistic features and stages in the genre of look-good advertisements. It further investigates the role that these linguistic features, particularly the "theme," perform in the fulfillment of the genre purpose. This paper studies how various linguistic features collaborate for advertisements to fulfill their persuasive and informative functions by assigning each stage different roles and different grammatical structures.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyse the use of electronic journals from the INFONET consortium by faculty and research scholars of physics and chemistry at Kurukshetra University, India. Design/methodology/approach: The paper is based on the results of a questionnaire distributed to all the teachers and research scholars of the two departments. Findings: The main findings are that the respondents are more attracted towards e-journals than print journals. However, they depend more on open-source materials than those available via INFONET. Respondents also identified the need for training in using e-resources and retrieving information from them from time-to-time. Originality/value: The use of e-resources, particularly e-journals, is increasing in the developing countries. Studies such as this one are required to understand the problems faced by the users and to increase the use of e-resources. (Contains 17 tables.)

Writing for academic publishing is a unique professional challenge. It is enriching and fulfilling; at the same humbling as well as frustrating. In this article I propose to examine the challenge and offer guidelines necessary in the Indian context, where the "publish or perish" syndrome has just arrived. Academics like to publish, but often lack the expertise. This article begins with the question, "Why write for journals?" The paradox that writers want to write but don't is also investigated. A positive approach to writing is examined. Guidelines on what one should do before, during, and after writing the paper are presented.

This paper aims to map the landscape of higher education transformation in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) nations while exploring the status of BRICS nations in some of the global university rankings and analysing their potential to give new meaning to notions such as excellent and world-class universities. The study provides different theoretical perspectives about global university ranking and about the notion of "world-class/excellence." Based on the literature exploration, the gathered data from some of the global university ranking agencies and the critical reflections from purposefully selected respondents, it is considered that the quest for world-class universities is articulated in several public policy documents of BRICS nations. While some attempts to achieve this quest vary (e.g. from China's strong effort to India's least effort), BRICS nations, like many other nations, seem to evolve towards this ambition, as universities have become the centre point of the development agenda. The ability of BRICS nations to provide new meaning to "world-class/excellence" notions, although not clear, cannot be disputed given the indications that the BRICS bloc is emerging as an alternative economic force and the role higher education is playing in this emergence.

The article discusses the use of litmus test in the evaluation of research performance in universities in India. It cites the Science Citation Index (SCI), an international criterion that determines the quality of research papers before the journals can be placed under a high profile. It notes that the litmus test for achieving top rank by any university is the overall qualitative performance, which has a high impact factor.

The article provides information on the October 2005 issue of the journal "Proceedings of the IEE--Circuits, Devices and Systems," based on the papers selected from the CODEC 04. To discuss the current problems in computers, devices and communication, and to exchange ideas about how to overcome these problems among researchers in these disciplines, an international conference entitled "Computers and Devices for Communication" (CODEC 04), was organised by the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics at the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India, on January 1-3, 2004. The papers presented at the conference belong broadly to three categories, first, devices and VLSI circuits, encompassing both compound semiconductor nanostructures and CMOS based ICs; second, communication and electromagnetics; and, third, computer and information processing systems.

This study analyzes two online open access peer-reviewed Indian journals that each published more than 2,000 articles in 2013. It examines various characteristics of these journals, including their publishing policies, author profiles, and quality of articles with regard to language and presentation. This study is done to analyze the data regarding the number of publications of the universities administered and funded by Government of Odisha during the period 2000 to 2015 and indexed in SCOPUS database. The paper describes the growth, contribution and impact of research carried out by the faculty members, researchers and students of these Universities. Here is an attempt to analyze the detail research activity of the universities which are reflected in publications output covered by SCOPUS database during the period of study. The study assumes to examine the content of papers published, including the annual average growth rate percentage, organizational affiliation of papers with the geographical distribution and author's affiliation to different academic institutions. India is a very vast country with over 1.2 billion population, having diversity at all fronts, mostly linguistic, cultural, regional, religious, and many more, still if there is any tool or instrument in the hands of common masses which unifies people, helps them come closer and reduces this diversity is language. A common language spoken by people from two diverse fields binds them together. In the present paper attempt has been made to understand the publication pattern of Hindi, English and Urdu newspaper and other periodicals published in India, along with growth and distribution during during the period 1941-2013. In India as on date 37.50% periodicals are published in Hindi, 14.51% in English, and 4.97% in Urdu. Apart from these 43% periodicals are published in other regional and vernacular languages. The study is aimed to evaluate areas like, periodicity, registration pattern, languages covered, year and decade-wise growth of Hindi, English and Urdu periodicals and many other similar areas in correlation with the population both at federal and national level. This paper highlights the Indian initiatives in the field of institutional repositories. It provides an overview of the 15 registered archives of Indian institutions in a range of subject disciplines. The authors believe that institutional repositories will help in the sharing of institutional intellectual output and will increase article citations and the impact factors of Indian journals. Out of 273 universities and institutions of higher learning in India, there are only 15 registered archives. All these archives are registered in the Institutional Archives Registry. The present study is an attempt to discover quantitative research out of Webology journal for the year 2007-2013. It is observed from the analysis that the maximum numbers of research output were written by solo authors, whereas the minimum quantities of research articles were published by multiple authors. Maximum number of scholarly articles were published in 2008 whereas the minimum numbers of articles were in 2009. The maximum articles were contributed by Indian authors i.e. (18.99 %), followed by Australia and Iran (12.64%) with second rank. The maximum research output i.e. 40 contributions (50.64%) by multiple authors and the minimum research outputs of 39 contributions (49.36%) have been contributed by single author. The appropriate technology (AT) movement places appropriateness as a key issue and acknowledges the role of AT in the context of India's development. The present article addresses the conceptual framework of AT and discusses the debate on AT from view points of both developing and developed countries. It also contextualizes the inception and growth of the Application of Science and Technology to Rural Areas (ASTRA), a research centre at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India for the study of its role in the context of the AT movement in India. The paper is based on the use of both primary and secondary data collected from ASTRA. The primary data were collected through the depth interviews of the researchers working at the centre of ASTRA, whereas the secondary data were gathered from the annual reports of the centre and some other materials published in national and international journals from the centre. The paper analyzes the technology development activities of the centre and attempted to bring out the socio- economic and policy related problems encountered in the dissemination of its technologies. This paper, analyses publication output within the field of elephant analysis as indexed in CAB Direct Online database covering the period (1959-2013). It reports on India's comparative strength in world science and technology output during this field. It is observed a complete of 5,148 publications was published throughout the year (1959-2013) as per CAB Direct Online. The common range of publications published per year was 109 papers. The highest number of 298 papers was published within the year 2013. The study reveals that India is the top country in elephant analysis with its contribution of 838 papers that is sort of (16.27%) of the worldwide research output on elephant analysis followed by Egypt with 480 papers (9.32%). Saudi Arabia ranks third position with 361 papers (7.01%). The foremost well-linked journals by the scientists concerned in elephant analysis were: Journal of Camel Practice and Analysis with 846 papers (16.43%) followed by Assiut Veterinary Medical Journal with 249 papers (4.84%). The study revealed that out of top five most well-linked journals by the elephant researchers, three journals viz., Indian journal of Animal Sciences 242 papers (4.70%) and Indian Veterinary Journal 198 papers (3.85%) are published from India which clearly indicates that the contribution of India in elephant analysis is important. The highest medium of communication is journal article with 4,552 papers (88.42%) followed by conference papers with 233 papers (4.52%). Miscellaneous ranks third position with 153 (2.97%). It is observed that English is the most preferred language utilized by the researchers for communication of elephant research with 6939 papers (86.66%) followed by French with 244 (4.73%). Wernery, U. is the most prolific author in elephant analysis who has published 132 papers (2.56%) followed by Faye B with 128 papers (2.48%). It is observed that out of the five authors who contributed a lot of papers in elephant analysis, three are Indians viz., Wernery, U. 132 papers (2.56%), Sahani, M.S. 96 papers (1.86%) and Khanna, N.D. 77 Papers (1.46%). Amongst the Hindi film magazinesMadhuristands out as an engaged, earnest and agenda-driven journalistic intervention. It acted as a crucial bridge, an effective mediator between several disparate segments and stake-holders: the film makers, viewers, stars, fans, state, industry, litterateurs, directors, “Urdu” and “Hindi”, music makers, listeners, exhibitors, theatre-patrons, “commercial” and “art” cinema types, regional, national and world cinema-lovers, and so on. It also continued with the ongoing task of educating Hindi readers about the intricacies of the film medium and its evolving history, ran vigorous campaigns advocating adoption of Nagri (Hindi) script for credit-rolls, and identified progressive literature waiting to be scripted; excavated new locations for shooting films, and more generally, invented a new form to narrate in words some of the classics of Hindi cinema. This paper argues that the restraint, irony as well as exuberance evident in its editorial choices, content and design were very much grounded in but not circumscribed by the aspirations of an expanding middle class nuddddddrtured on a print universe marked by Hindi nationalistic sensibility of the 1960s and 1970s. All the same,Madhuri’s unique crowd-sourced campaigns lent a sense of civic identity to its readers, who started clamouring for better sonic, visual and hygienic facilities and comforts at cinema halls. This article presents information about the journal "TERI Information Digest on Energy," published quarterly by the Tata Energy Research Institute. This journal examines the latest developments in energy and related areas. The June 1994 issue contains six papers that explore policy to encourage private investment in the Indian power sector, policy adjustment now to support sustainable growth in India's power sector, and the active participation of the private sector in power generation.

Twelve thousand five hundred and thirty six references appended to 1012 papers published in four Indian LIS journals for the period 2002-2010 revealed that there are 999 conference papers in all with an average of 0.99 conference paper per paper. Journal articles have emerged as the most important source of information among all the four journals followed by Web resources, books and conference proceedings. Research productivity in Zoology, authorship pattern and nature of collaboration among the zoology scholars are studied by analyzing 236 theses and 719 thesis articles submitted by the scholars of the Zoology Department at the University of Burdwan in eleven subdivisions of Zoology during 1960-2000. The highest number of thesis submission was 64 and the highest number of article submission was 251 during the same time span 1986-1990. The highest number of theses (65) was submitted in Entomology followed by Parasitology (51), Fishery (29) and Cytology (28) respectively. Background: Reporting of informed consent and ethical approval are important aspects of published papers which indicate the knowledge and sensitivity about ethical aspects of research by the researchers. Materials and Methods: This study reports description of informed consent and ethical approval in the published psychiatric research in the main journal of psychiatry in India. All original research articles (n=157) published in the Indian Journal of Psychiatry in the years 2000, 2003 to 2007 were included. Results: Informed consent was mentioned in 51% of studies in 2000, which gradually rose to 82% by the year 2007. Ethics committee approvals were mentioned in 2% of studies in 2000, and 25% of reports in 2007. Consent was reported to be written in only 40%, content of the consent forms was mentioned in 17%, and the language of consent form was reported in 3% of the studies where consent was reported. Conclusions: Regulation of ethical principles and formulation of necessary guidelines or rules for research as well as for publications are necessary and desirable to ensure the safety of participants and good quality of research. An analysis of 11067 papers published by Indian scientists and indexed by Science Citation Index (SCI) CD-ROM for the year 1997 indicates that academic institutions (universities and colleges) are the major contributors to the scientific publications output. Major contribution came from 29 institutions, which contributed about 45% of the total Indian scientific output. Based on the values of different impact indicators (normalized impact per paper, publication effective index and relative quality index) TIFR outperforms all other institutions on different impact indicators. Fifty seven percent of the output is concentrated in physical sciences, chemical and medical sciences. Indian scientists widely publish their findings in journals published from the scientifically advanced countries of the West. Based on these values of the Normalized Impact Factor (NIF), it is observed that about two-third of the total papers have appeared in low and medium NIF journals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
