Background and Aim: The incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) in individuals under 50 is increasing worldwide. We conducted an analysis of colonoscopy findings in high‐risk individuals under 50 in the CRC screening program in Tianjin, China, to determine the detection rate and risk factors of advanced adenomas (AA), advanced colorectal neoplasia (ACN), colorectal neoplasia (CN). Methods: Our study investigated individuals aged 40–49 who underwent CRC screening and completed colonoscopy, 2012–2020, while the 50–54 age group served as a control. We compared the detection rates of AA, ACN, and CN among three age groups using univariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses, and investigated the risk factors associated with AA, ACN, and CN among individuals aged 40–49. Results: We found a gradual increase in the detection rate of AA, ACN, and CN among individuals aged 40–54. The detection rates for AA (OR 0.58; 95% CI 0.41–0.81), ACN (OR 0.58; 95% CI 0.43–0.77), and CN (OR 0.64; 95% CI 0.56–0.74) were lower in individuals aged 40–44 compared to 45–49. The detection rates of AA (OR 1.08; 95% CI 0.87–1.34) and ACN (OR 1.12; 95% CI 0.93–1.35) in individuals aged 45–49 were comparable with 50–54. Besides, lifestyle factors, BMI, and FIT are not associated with the detection rates of AA, ACN, and CN among individuals aged 40–49. Conclusions: Our study reveals screening data in individuals under 50, indicating comparable detection rates of AA and ACN in individuals aged 45–49 and 50–54. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of different fertilizer treatments and crop rotations on crop yield stability. A 9 years field experiment was conducted from 2013 to 2021 to evaluate the effects of combinations of two annual crop rotations and two methods of applying fertilizer on crop yield stability. Crop rotations were kidney bean–mustard–rice (P–B–O) and kidney bean–mustard–cowpea (P–B–V) each year. Fertilization methods were recommended fertilization (RF) and conventional fertilization (CF). The indexes Wi2 (Wricke's ecovalance), coefficient of variation (CV), and sustainable yield index (SYI) were used to quantify the long term effects of crop rotation and fertilization on crop yield stability, and a yield change trend model was used to predict future production. For fertilization program RF, average kidney bean and mustard yields in rotation P–B–O increased respectively by 7.47% and 19.37% over P–B–V in the 9 years of the project. For CF, average kidney bean and mustard yields for P–B–O increased respectively by 14.99% and 18.33% over P–B–V. Wi2 indexes of kidney bean and mustard for P–B–O (respectively 116 and 956) were significantly less than for P–B–V (respectively 147.87 and 1259.67). SYI for kidney beans and mustard in P–B–O (respectively 0.63 and 0.57) were significantly greater than for P–B–V (respectively 0.50 and 0.42). The trends of crop average yields for RF and CF show that the average yield trends of kidney bean in P–B–O (respectively 32.41 and 32.34) were greater than in P–B–V (respectively 29.56 and 27.45). The trends of average yields of mustard for RF and CF in P–B–O (respectively 64.18 and 60.87) were greater than in P–B–V (respectively 51.74 and 51.87). The preceding results led to the conclusion that long term annual P–B–O rotation combined with RF considerably increased yield and maintained yield stability, thus establishing the sustainability of this cropping system. Background: The recent uptrend in colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence in China is causing an increasingly overwhelming social burden. And its occurrence can be effectively reduced by sensitizing CRC screening for early diagnosis and treatment. However, a large number of people in China do not undergo screening due to multiple factors. To address this issue, since 2012, a CRC screening program has been initiated in Tianjin. Methods: Residents aged 40-74 years were eligible for CRC screening. The first was to complete the high-risk factor questionnaire (HRFQ) and undergo fecal immunochemical test (FIT). Then those with a positive result in any of the two screening methods were recommended for a free colonoscopy. Results: The detection rate of intestinal diseases increased with age, had a male predominance, and was higher in residents from central urban areas and those with primary school above education level. The sensitivity of predicting CRC after colonoscopy in the high-risk group was 76.02%; the specificity was 25.33%.A significant decrease in the detection rate of intestinal disease, CRC and advanced adenoma was observed from positive FIT, the high-risk group and positive HRFQ, 47.13%, 44.79%, 42.30%; 3.15%, 2.44%, 1.76%; 7.72%, 6.42%, 5.08%, in that order, while no inter-group difference was found for the detection of polyps. In addition, the different combinations of HRFQ and FIT can enroll more high-risk population than FIT or (and) HRFQ only, and thus detect more intestinal diseases (include CRC/AA/Polyp). Conclusion: The superimposition of different screening method for HRFQ and FIT is an effective strategy for the detection of CRC, AA, and Polyp, compared to HRFQ or FIT alone. The contamination of surface waters in China with Per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFASs) has been extensively studied in recent decades, however, almost all studies have been conducted in small areas and/or limited samples, which are not representative of the nationwide contamination of surface water environments with PFASs. In this study, attempt was made to provide a comprehensive report about PFASs pollution in Chinese surface water based on the PRISMA. By analyzing 111 papers published between 2006 and 2022, we provide a systematic review of the pollution of PFASs in surface water environments in China. The results show that 26 PFASs contaminants were detected at least once in China's surface water environment and were mainly concentrated in the eastern part of China. Most surface water environments in China had mean PFASs concentrations below 100 ng/L. The most polluted place was the Xiaoqing River, where sampling results in 2020 showed PFASs concentrations as high as 25,429 ng/L, followed by the Tangxun Lake, the Xi River, the Daling River, the Majia River, the Baiyangdian Lake, the Liuxi River, the Jiaolai River, the Tuo River and the Zhimai River. The Xiaoqing River also has the highest concentration of the novel pollutant, with concentrations of HFPO-TA and HFPO-DA as high as 1039 ng/L and 164 ng/L. Based on the source analysis, fluoropolymer manufacturing plants are the main source of PFASs pollutants in surface water. The results of the base risk analysis using risk quotients value (RQ) method show that the RQ values of the Xiaoqing River, the surface water near Bohai Bay, the Majia River and the Tuo River PFOA are 36.9, 7.7, 3.6 and 2.1 respectively, which are high risk areas and require enhanced control. This study provides information on surface waters contaminated by PFASs nationwide, and the results can be used as a reference for the development of pollution control and management strategies for PFASs in surface waters in China. • The first summary of PFASs pollution in surface water systems in China. • PRISMA model was used for meta-analysis. • Surface water pollution from PFASs is worse in the east than in the west. • Four PFOA high-risk catchments currently exist. In this study, intertidal macrobenthic diversity in protected, disturbed, and newly formed wetlands of Yangtze estuary was assessed using PRIMER 5.2 based on species diversity and species relatedness. We observed high diversity in nature reserves and low diversity in adjacent disturbed and newly formed wetlands. These diversity data were then integrated with historical data to detect the variation in macrobenthic diversity over the past two decades. The integrated data indicated that the intertidal macrobenthic diversity sharply decreased in heavy reclamation tidal flats whereas markedly increased in non-disturbed nature reserve and newly formed wetland. Benthic health was observed with the departure degree of average taxonomic distinctness ( Δ + ) and variation in taxonomic distinctness ( Λ + ) from the simulated 95% confidence funnel. All the habitats were subjected to different levels of human interference, except Jiuduansha and Beigangbeisha. Photocatalytic degradation, as an emerging method to control environmental pollution, is considered one of the most promising environmental purification technologies. As Tibet is a region with some of the strongest solar radiation in China and even in the world, it is extremely rich in solar energy resources, which is ideal for applying photocatalytic technology to its ecological environment protection and governance. In this study, Na2Ti3O7 nanobelts were prepared via a hydrothermal method and converted to TiO2∙xH2O ion exchange, which was followed by high-temperature calcination to prepare TiO2(B) nanobelts ("B" in TiO2(B) means "Bronze phase"). A simple in situ method was used to generate Ag3PO4 particles on the surface of the TiO2 nanobelts to construct a Ag3PO4/TiO2(B) heterojunction composite photocatalyst. By generating Ag3PO4 nanoparticles on the surface of the TiO2(B) nanobelts to construct heterojunctions, the light absorption range of the photocatalyst was successfully extended from UV (ultraviolet) to the visible region. Furthermore, the recombination of photogenerated electron–hole pairs in the catalyst was inhibited by the construction of the heterojunctions, thus greatly enhancing its light quantum efficiency. Therefore, the prepared Ag3PO4/TiO2(B) heterojunction composite photocatalyst greatly outperformed the TiO2(B) nanobelt in terms of photocatalytic degradation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) in colorectal cancer screening., Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study among 5,598 participants age 40-74 years between 2012 and 2020 in Tianjin, China. Inverse probability weighting was adopted to adjust for potential imbalanced factors between groups. A Cox proportional hazards model was used to estimate the weighted associations between FIT screening and advanced colorectal neoplasia. A difference-in-difference (DID) model was adopted to compare the incidence rates of advanced colorectal neoplasia between groups., Results: In DID analysis, the rate of incidence was reduced by 0.34 cases per person-years in the screening group as compared with the historical FIT screening group (rate ratio [RR], 0.08 [95% CI, 0.07 to 0.10]) and by 0.06 cases per person-years in the non-FIT screening group as compared with the historical non-FIT screening group (RR, 0.37 [95% CI, 0.29 to 0.48]; P < .001 for both comparisons), with a relative reduction of 0.28. Similar benefit effect from FIT screening was observed in sex and age subgroups., Conclusion: FIT screening was associated with a reduction in incidence density from advanced colorectal neoplasia.

Background and Aims: Colonoscopy is an important colorectal cancer (CRC) screening modality; however, not all high-risk groups identified by fecal immunochemical test (FIT) and/or high-risk factor questionnaire (HRFQ) undergo colonoscopy in time. The impact of delays in colonoscopy on CRC detection among high-risk populations remains poorly understood, warranting further clarification., Methods: A retrospective study was conducted among CRC high-risk population identified by Tianjin CRC screening program. According to the colonoscopy results after HRFQ and FIT, patients were classified into CRC, advanced adenoma, non-advanced adenoma, and normal groups. The time interval between CRC screening and colonoscopy was investigated and its relationship with colonoscopy results. Logistic regression was performed to explore the risk factors of CRC detection., Results: Among the high-risk population without a history of CRC or polyps, 49,810 underwent HRFQ, FIT, and colonoscopy, and a time interval of fewer than 6 months was found for 79.56% of patients (n = 39,630). People with positive FIT were more likely to undergo colonoscopy within 6 months, and detection rates of CRC and/or advanced adenoma were positively related to time intervals. Similar results were found in people with a negative FIT but positive HRFQ. A time interval longer than 6 months was a significant predictor of CRC detection in high-risk populations., Conclusion: For high-risk people identified by CRC screening, especially those with a positive FIT, a time interval of 6 months was associated with an increased probability of CRC detection. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms in microRNAs are related to the occurrence, development and prognosis of cancer. The aim of the present study is to investigate the possible influence of the miR-499(rs3746444) polymorphism on the risk of gastric cancer in Chinese population. A total of 363 GC patients and 969 cancer-free controls were enrolled in this study. The genotypes were obtained using MassARRAY method. The results showed that, compared with T allele, C allele was associated with a significantly increased risk of GC (OR=1.491, 95% CI=1.155-1.923, P=0.002). Moreover, a significantly increased risk of GC in subjects with the TC genotype was observed (adjusted OR of 1.559, 95% CI=1.148-2.117, P=0.004), compared with the wide type TT. We also found that basically dominant model (TT vs. TC+CC) was suitable for the association between rs6513497 and the risk of GC (OR=1.568, 95% CI=1.173-2.097, P=0.002). However, the same association was also shown in males and females. Meanwhile, rs3746444 was associated with the tumor size of GC patients. The present study indicated that miR-499 rs3746444 might contribute to GC risk and this SNP could be developed as a biomarker for GC prediction., (Copyright © 2015 Société Française du Cancer.
