To address the challenges encountered by Chinese primary school students, particularly left-behind and migrant children, who exhibit a preference for animations, video games, and short videos over reading books and struggle with Chinese-English bilingual skills, this study introduces an educational robot AIassisted method for simultaneous bilingual reading. To assess the effectiveness of this method, a 6-month Chinese-English bilingual extracurricular reading comparative experiment was conducted involving 85 grade 5 students from two classes in a primary school in Hangzhou, China. The AI-assisted class freely read 100 bilingual/English electronic picture books and 200 Chinese electronic classic serial picture books by employing the AI-assisted human-computer interactive electronic reading mode of the "Educational Robot+Audio Electronic Picture Book+Character-play Based Reading." In contrast, the paper book group read the same content presented in the traditional paper book format, following the "regular independent reading" mode. Post-experimental analyses were conducted employing t-tests and MANCOVA and the results revealed that: the primary factors influencing reading effectiveness are the choice of reading materials, reading tools, and reading mode, while reading time does not emerge as the principal influencing factor. Furthermore, students in the AI class demonstrated significant enhancements in bilingual reading motivation, reading amount, reading comprehension, independent learning ability, pronunciation proficiency, and test scores compared to their peers in the paper book class. The AI-assisted reading mode utilizing educational robots garnered positive feedback from teachers, parents, and students. It offers the potential to effectively substitute parental involvement in parent-child reading and English tutoring, while also enabling the simultaneous acquisition of bilingual proficiency in both Chinese and English. This approach proves to be highly effective, cost-efficient, and convenient, particularly for enhancing children's foreign language abilities. Moreover, it fosters positive reading habits and independent learning skills among primary school students, contributes to the establishment of lofty aspirations, and enhances bilingual performance. Spatial interaction models with spatial origin-destination (OD) filters are powerful tools to characterize trip flows in space, which is a classic and important problem in regional science. To the authors' knowledge, existing studies adopting OD filters mostly specify the spatial dependence as an autoregressive process, which may not be the full picture of spatial effects. To examine the problem, this paper proposes the hypotheses that 1) spatial OD dependences can take place in both the spatial autoregressive term and the spatial error term in a spatial interaction model. 2) Estimating a spatial autoregressive model with spatial autoregressive disturbances (SARAR) model with OD filters would disentangle where the spatial dependence exists and by how much. 3) The marginal effects obtained from SARAR models would be preferred to analysts when SARAR models outperform spatial autoregressive (SAR) models and spatial error models (SEM) from the statistical point of view. To assess these hypotheses, this paper specifies, estimates, and applies SARAR models with OD filters to investigate trip distributions. By comparing against alternative models, this paper investigates the estimation results in SAR, SEM and SARAR models using an empirical data collected from Hangzhou, China. Using combined data from the 2011–2013 China Industrial Firm Database, China Industrial Firm Pollution Emission Database, and provincial-level digital financial inclusion index, this paper investigates the impact of digital finance on firm pollution. The authors find that digital finance significantly reduces firm SO2 emission intensity. The inclusive finance attribute of digital finance is conducive to alleviating firm financing constraints and promoting firm transformation and emission reduction. Furthermore, digital finance reduces pollution through innovation compensation. Digital finance mainly affects private firms and small and medium-sized firms, while it mainly plays its role through depth of use, digital payments, and digital credit. The basic conclusions of this paper are verified by using the Internet development level and the spherical distance from Hangzhou, as instrumental variables. As cultural carriers of intangible cultural heritage (ICH), practitioners are key stakeholders in its inheritance and tourism use. Master-apprentice transmission is a major mechanism of generational inheritance. This paper examines ICH masters and apprentices at the Arts & Crafts Museum of Hangzhou, China, and analyzes the cultural composition of handicraft ICH and its intergenerational evolutionary mechanisms. Semi-structured interviews with two generations of practitioners and participant observation were undertaken. Research results reveal that intergenerational evolution involves multifaceted stakeholder interactions centred on practitioners with the support of government, management of the museum and participation of visitors. With patterns of family and master-apprentice inheritance, two generations of practitioners facilitate the evolution of handicraft ICH though both co-creations and conflicts. Second, six cultural attributes for handicraft ICH as of material, pattern, shape, technique, image and system are identified to visualise the process of intergenerational evolution. Third, driven by internal and external factors, ICH evolves through tracks of inheritance, selection and variation as presented through the above six cultural attributes. Moreover, the interdependence of cultural elements highlights the heritage framework of handicraft ICH and reflects the fluidity of authenticity. In the context of the Internet of Things, there is a growing demand for real-time monitoring of water distribution systems (WDS). Among the various leak detection methods, acoustic leak detection is considered to be a suitable method. However, existing methods are not very effective in environments with high daytime ambient noise. To address this issue, this paper conducted on-site data collection experiments and designed a monitoring system that combines traditional nighttime monitoring with daytime monitoring, combining water company pipeline inspections and repair work. A large number of daytime audio samples were collected. In this paper, the logarithmic spectrogram (log spectrogram) was used to represent the features of the leak signal. By comparing the features of the signal during day and night, noisy and quiet environments, and leak and normal signals, we identified the interfering frames that required noise reduction, and applied frame-level noise reduction processing to the signal. Based on this, a log PS-ResNet18 model was developed to identify leaks, and its performance was compared with other classification models [including traditional nighttime detection methods, random forests, XGBoost, and convolutional neural network (CNN)]. The results showed that the log PS-ResNet18 model had the best performance, with an all-day accuracy rate of 99.4% and a daytime accuracy rate of 99.3%. In addition, by conducting ablation experiments to explore the role and contribution of the log PS-ResNet18 and noise reduction methods in the model, the results showed that the log spectrogram and noise reduction methods increased the all-day accuracy rate by 18.8% and 23.2%, respectively, and by 24.7% when used together. In another practical application, the log PS-ResNet18 model achieved an all-day detection accuracy rate of 99.6%. This study demonstrated the applicability of the log spectrogram and CNN combination in daytime leak detection, overcoming research limitations in the field. This research presents the log PS-ResNet18 framework, which combines deep learning models and denoised logarithmic spectrograms to improve leak detection in water supply pipelines under daytime environmental noise. The research focuses on field data collection and analysis of cast iron pipes with different diameters in Hangzhou (HZ). The model was tested on cast iron pipes in Lishui (LS) and proved to be effective. The proposed method is highly versatile and can be applied to different regions and pipe materials after sufficient sample collection and model training validation. The research recommends a comprehensive leak monitoring solution that involves initial intelligent detection using front-end noise meters and secondary identification of suspicious audio signals using the log PS-ResNet18 model in the cloud. The tidal wave in the Qiantang River, Hangzhou City, China is quite different from that of KdV equation, it is a shock-like wave with a finite amplitude. This phenomenon has mathematicians adjusting their solitary wave models on how such waves behave. This paper applies the variational theory to insight into the energy behave of the tidal wave, which can be modelled by the Benny-Luke equation, and the exp-function method is used to figure out the solution structure. The deformation behavior of deep excavations is affected by many factors, among which the geological conditions are greatly affected. Hangzhou Bay is affected by marine siltation and river alluvium, and the geological conditions within the urban area of Hangzhou are quite different. In this paper, the geological and deformation data of 79 deep excavation cases in the Hangzhou urban area were collected, and the statistical analysis showed that the deformation control of excavations in the silt area was poor. The average maximum lateral wall displacement of deep excavations of the Hangzhou urban area was 0.41%H (H was the depth of the excavation), the average value of the alluvial area was 0.22%H, and the average value of the silted area was 0.55%H. The influence of geological conditions, wall type, and construction period on the deformation of excavations was compared, and the deformation behavior of excavations in the silted area was clearly affected by various factors. After the occurrence of a disruptive event in an urban rail transit (URT) network, passengers' travel is affected, and a large number of passengers are stranded in the stations. These stranded passengers have to be evacuated urgently. With its flexible deployment, a bus bridging service has become an effective solution to evacuate stranded passengers. In order to avoid large passenger flow at stations, in addition to evacuating the static passenger flow stranded at the disrupted stations, the bridging buses need to focus on the dynamic passenger flow arriving at the turnover stations along the short-turning trains. In this paper, we propose a mathematical model to optimize the timetable and vehicle scheduling of bridging buses considering the adjustment of rail transit operations. The model aims to minimize passenger waiting time, the number of lost passengers, and the amount of bridging buses used. The model makes buses operate flexibly on different routes, taking the bus capacity and number of buses into account. By creating an improved ε-constraint method, the Pareto front of the problem is solved using the model with a commercial solver. Finally, the accuracy and validity of the model is verified by applying an example based on China's Hangzhou rail transit line 4. The results show that the bridging bus timetable and scheduling plan generated by the model effectively solved the problem of large passenger flow at turnover stations. In addition, compared with bridging buses with an even headway timetable, the results demonstrate that bridging buses with an uneven headway timetable, which considers coordination with rail transit, could reduce the passenger waiting time and the number of lost passengers. The model has better performance with an uneven headway timetable in the face of large passenger demand. The computational experiment shows that the total passenger waiting time and the number of bridging buses was reduced when the bus capacity was increased. Aim/Purpose This paper aims to investigate and understand the intentions of management undergraduate students in Hangzhou, China, regarding the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in their education. It addresses the need to explore the factors influencing AI adoption in the educational context and contribute to the ongoing discourse on technology integration in higher education. Background The paper addresses the problem by conducting a comprehensive investigation into the perceptions of management undergraduate students in Hangzhou, China, regarding the adoption of AI in education. The study explores various factors, including Perceived Relative Advantage and Trialability, to shed light on the nuanced dynamics influencing AI technology adoption in the context of higher education. Methodology The study employs a quantitative research approach, utilizing the Confirmatory Tetrad Analysis (CTA) and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) methodologies. The research sample consists of management undergraduate students in Hangzhou, China, and the methods include data screening, principal component analysis, confirmatory tetrad analysis, and evaluation of the measurement and structural models. We used a random sampling method to distribute 420 online, self-administered questionnaires among management students aged 18 to 21 at universities in Hangzhou. Contribution This paper explores how management students in Hangzhou, China, perceive the adoption of AI in education. It identifies factors that influence AI adoption intention. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the complex nature of technology adoption in the changing educational technology landscape. It offers a thorough comprehension of this process while challenging and expanding the existing literature by revealing the insignificant impacts of certain factors. This highlights the need for an approach to AI integration in education that is context-specific and culturally sensitive. Findings The study highlights students' positive attitudes toward integrating AI in educational settings. Perceived relative advantage and trialability were found to impact AI adoption intention significantly. AI adoption is influenced by social and cultural contexts rather than factors like compatibility, complexity, and observability. Peer influence, instructor guidance, and the university environment were identified as pivotal in shaping students' attitudes toward AI technologies. Recommendations for Practitioners To promote the use of AI among management students in Hangzhou, practitioners should highlight the benefits and the ease of testing these technologies. It is essential to create communication strategies tailored to the student's needs, consider cultural differences, and utilize the influence of peers and instructors. Establishing a supportive environment within the university that encourages innovation through policies and regulations is vital. Additionally, it is recommended that students' attitudes towards AI be monitored constantly, and strategies adjusted accordingly to keep up with the changing technological landscape. Recommendations for Researchers Researchers should conduct cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural studies with qualitative and longitudinal research designs to understand factors affecting AI adoption in education. It is essential to investigate compatibility, complexity, observability, individual attitudes, prior experience, and the evolving role of peers and instructors. As the esports industry experiences unprecedented growth, efforts to legitimize it as a recognized sport have intensified. This paper explores the transformative changes in China's esports landscape with focus on the aftermath of its official recognition at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou. For this, this study employs a data-driven comparative approach to analyze both online news data and viewer comments on a video platform broadcasting the esports tournament during the Hangzhou Asian Games. For text data, it utilized text mining techniques of the Latent Dirichlet Allocation algorithm (LDA), and for conversion from image to text, it used through the Contrastive Language–Image Pretraining (CLIP) model. The findings reveal that the text and image data in online news emphasize the industry's positive anticipation of esports becoming a medal sport, but the public who watched esports events showed mixed expectations, doubts, or even negative sentiments about the reevaluation of esports. As evidenced in the paper, the public's divided stance towards esports might hinder the establishment of a solid consensus in developing the necessary infrastructure or policymaking. Thus, the transition for games to be recognized as an Olympic sport after their inclusion in the Asian Games demands a prolonged period and a comprehensive blend of economic, social, cultural, and educational policies. The consistent innovations and applications of information technology drive the vigorous development of the gig economy, and generate gig workers such as food delivery workers and couriers, and make a great contribution to stabilizing employment and increasing income. Gig workers, mostly made up of migrants, and suffer from job and status difficulties. Research on the well-being of migrant gig workers can reveal the practical problems and provide suggestions for narrowing the wealth gap to promote social fairness and justice. Taking Hangzhou city in China as an example, this paper explores the well-being of food delivery workers, couriers, and online car-hailing drivers as representatives of migrant gig workers. Firstly, the relevant data are acquired through the questionnaire. Secondly, the characteristics of this group are analyzed through descriptive analysis, namely: most of them are migrant workers aged between 20 and 39 with low occupation satisfaction due to insufficient social security coverage and limited well-being, despite relatively high income. Based on the analysis of differences in demographic variables and structural equation modeling, the factors affecting the well-being of migrant gig workers are studied, which mainly are occupation satisfaction, social interaction, and social security. The results show that occupation satisfaction is positively affected by family characteristics, social interaction, and social security. In addition, family characteristics and social security positively impact social interaction, but the former has no significant effect on well-being. Finally, this paper enriches the research on the well-being of specific migrant gig workers and gives policy suggestions for enhancing the well-being of migrant gig workers in Hangzhou city from the perspective of optimizing the mechanism, pilot construction, and platform provision. As urban underground spaces continue to develop, new engineering projects are increasingly closer to existing operating tunnels. This study focuses on the impact of excavation work, such as a new tunnel or deep excavation, on an existing shield tunnel. However, few studies have examined the simultaneous effects of excavation and over-crossing tunneling on operational tunnels. This paper presents a case study of Section 2 of Hangzhou Metro Line 7, employing MIDAS GTS to simulate the settlement of the existing tunnel and analyze the data collected through automatic measurements. Both methods demonstrated that excavating a foundation pit near the existing tunnel results in the tunnel's settlement while over-crossing tunneling of the new tunnels leads to the uplift of the existing tunnel. The excavation prompted the existing tunnel to move horizontally toward the foundation pit, whereas over-crossing tunneling pushed it horizontally away. The numerical simulation revealed minor vertical displacement but significant horizontal displacement, aligning closely with the measured data. The impacts of foundation pit excavation and over-crossing tunneling on the vertical and horizontal displacement of existing tunnels are contrary, suggesting that the two construction stages will offset each other. Buddhism has been a significant part of Hangzhou's rich history. Throughout the twentieth century, Hangzhou's Buddhist culture continued to inspire many Chinese writers, one of the most prominent being Yu Dafu. The writer stayed in Hangzhou several times during the 1920s and 1930s and wrote numerous travel notes, including many describing his and his friends' visits to temples in and around Hangzhou. These short travel notes, written in modern Chinese with the characteristics of modern prose, opened a relationship between Buddhism and Chinese literature, effectively inaugurating a fresh genre of Chinese Buddhist literature. This paper focuses on Yu Dafu's travel notes, considers extensive historical sources, and explores how they recorded and represented Chinese Buddhist culture in Hangzhou and more broadly. Due to increasing cost and decreasing labor, prefabricated buildings have developed rapidly. With the prolongation of prefabricated buildings' supply chain (PBSC) and an increase in risk factors, project delays and even interruptions occur occasionally. The difficulty of supply chain management is increasing. Supply chain resilience (SCR) as a risk management tool has gradually attracted the attention of scholars. This paper uses the grounded theory to identify the influencing factors of prefabricated buildings' supply chain resilience (PBSCR) based on the dynamic capacity theory. By collecting questionnaires from relevant stakeholders in Shenyang and Hangzhou, a structural equation model (SEM) was used to test the research hypothesis. The capacity effect relationship of the PBSC was constructed. The results show that resilient capability has the highest direct effect on the improvement in PBSCR, and collaborative capability has the highest total and indirect effect on the improvement in PBSCR. The critical paths to improving PBSCR were then identified. Suggestions were made based on the calculated effect relationships. This paper is expected to improve PBSCR, enrich the research on supply chains in the construction field, and help better realize the stable development of prefabricated buildings. In ancient riverbed areas, the hydro-geological conditions are extremely complex because of the cutting of ancient river channels during the sedimentary process. How to lower groundwater level in water-riched gravel-confined aquifer during deep excavation is vital for underground engineering. Groundwater flow patterns had to be understood during foundation pit dewatering. This paper presents a field case study conducted at the deep foundation pit of the Qianjiang Century City station on Hangzhou Metro Line 6, which is notable for its 52 m deep unclosed waterproof curtain. A total of 34 pumping wells were installed within the pit. During the tests, one well was subjected to a pumping well, while the others served as observation wells. The research included two sets of multi-depth pumping tests, which differed in terms of their filter lengths, aimed at investigating the flow pattern around pump wells and the roots of diaphragm walls. The study found that the use of longer filters, higher pump rates, and filters placed nearer to aquifer roofs enhances dewatering efficiency and minimizes impact on the surrounding geological environment. This paper introduces a novel concept known as the diaphragm wall–pumping well effect, which regulates the water head outside the pit and the subsidence, thereby optimizing the drawdown of the deep foundation pit with an unclosed waterproof curtain. Purpose: This paper aims to analyze Hangzhou Urban Brain in responding to COVID-19, including systematically sorting out the development mode, capabilities, composition and application of Urban Brain and exploring its role and effect. This paper tries to provide a reference for other cities' digital infrastructure construction through case analysis. Design/methodology/approach: The authors took Hangzhou Urban Brain as a typical case in urban digital infrastructure construction, and they conducted thorough research on its practice in facing COVID-19. The authors analyzed the key elements of Urban Brain, the application and the evaluation of Urban Brain through literature review, field investigation, questionnaire and interviews. Findings: Hangzhou Urban Brain has been deeply applied in urban management and has a good foundation. Therefore, when the COVID-19 occurred, the Urban Brain played an important role. The detailed practices facing COVID-19 are mainly in five aspects: information collection and analysis, ensuring material supply by government–enterprise collaboration, using AI and Big Data to "Visualize" COVID-19, etc. Moreover, Urban Brain has won high evaluation. However, Hangzhou Urban Brain still has problems like data privacy and security, technical issues, etc. Originality/value: This case study shows that Hangzhou's experience in Urban Brain construction is worthy of reference and promotion. Firstly, it can strengthen the understanding of digital infrastructure in responding to public health emergencies. Furthermore, it provides a reference for other urban governance worldwide by excavating the role and effect of digital infrastructure in preventing and controlling COVID-19. Thirdly, it explores how to improve the digital infrastructure construction to support public health challenges, which will help the cities grasp the actual value of data and make progress in this field. The emergence of commercial complexes in a city can improve the economic vitality of both the city and its surrounding environment, which impacts the surrounding housing market. This impact of commercial complexes on surrounding housing prices has been demonstrated by existing literature; however, the complexity of individual commercial complexes is often not incorporated, and the effect is usually studied from a static or single-object perspective. Based on new house transaction data from 2009 to 2018 and data on 54 commercial complexes in Hangzhou, China, in this paper, a time-varying difference-in-difference (DID) model was built. This model was used to explore the driving effect of commercial complexes on surrounding housing prices. The results showed that the following: (1) Commercial complexes exert a significant premium effect on housing prices within 1.0–4.0 km of the surrounding area. (2) The impact of the opening of a commercial complex on the surrounding housing prices is related to the distance between the two, but this relationship is not linear. (3) Compared to the first complex in the region, subsequent complexes are more likely to exert a driving effect on surrounding house prices. Among the first complexes, only those that led to the formation of a business district exerted a significant driving effect on surrounding house prices. (4) The proportion of retail in a commercial complex and whether the complex is located in a core area are the two factors with the strongest impact on the premium effect. Objective. As the preclinical stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD), Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is characterized by hidden onset, which is difficult to detect early. Traditional neuropsychological scales are main tools used for assessing MCI. However, due to its strong subjectivity and the influence of many factors such as subjects' educational background, language and hearing ability, and time cost, its accuracy as the standard of early screening is low. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose a new key technology of fast digital early warning for MCI based on eye movement objective data analysis. Methodology. Firstly, four exploratory indexes (test durations, correlation degree, lengths of gaze trajectory, and drift rate) of MCI early warning are determined based on the relevant literature research and semistructured expert interview; secondly, the eye movement state is captured based on the eye tracker to realize the data extraction of four exploratory indexes. On this basis, the human-computer interactive 2.5-minute fast digital early warning paradigm for MCI is designed; thirdly, the rationality of the four early warning indexes proposed in this paper and their early warning effectiveness on MCI are verified. Results. Through the small sample test of human-computer interactive 2.5 fast digital early warning paradigm for MCI conducted by 32 elderly people aged 70–90 in a medical institution in Hangzhou, the two indexes of "correlation degree" and "drift rate" with statistical differences are selected. The experiment results show that AUC of this MCI early warning paradigm is 0.824. Conclusion. The key technology of human-computer interactive 2.5 fast digital early warning for MCI proposed in this paper overcomes the limitations of the existing MCI early warning tools, such as low objectification level, high dependence on professional doctors, long test time, requiring high educational level, and so on. The experiment results show that the early warning technology, as a new generation of objective and effective digital early warning tool, can realize 2.5-minute fast and high-precision preliminary screening and early warning for MCI in the elderly. In order to improve the level of the urban living environment and improve the comfort level of the microclimate, this paper investigates and simulates numerically the influence on the wind environment of different tree species in various tree array layouts, aiming to enhance wind comfort in tree landscapes and reduce the risk of high wind speeds. Initially, the study analyzes the commonly used tree species in Hangzhou's urban tree arrays (beech, soapberry, and camphor trees), summarizing three types of tree array layouts: retention, through, and enclosure. Subsequently, standard tree models are established to define their crown porosity, trunk elastic modulus, and other physical characteristics. Using fluid–structure interaction methods, the impact of different tree species on the wind environment within various tree array layouts is numerically simulated at a wind speed of 14 m/s. In conclusion, the retention layout is most effective in controlling wind speed. Camphor trees perform excellently in reducing wind speed within both retention and enclosure tree array layouts, with wind reduction efficiencies of 16.06% and 14.09%, respectively. Creating a walkable environment is an essential step toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Nevertheless, not all people can enjoy a walkable environment, and neighborhoods with different socioeconomic status are found to vary greatly with walkability. Former studies have typically unraveled the relationship between neighborhood deprivation and walkability from a temporally static perspective and the produced estimations to a point-in-time snapshot were believed to incorporate great uncertainties. The ways in which neighborhood walkability changes over time in association with deprivation remain unclear. Using the case of the Hangzhou metropolitan area, we first measured the neighborhood walkability from 2016 to 2018 by calculating a set of revised walk scores. Further, we applied a machine learning algorithm, the kernel-based regularized least squares regression in particular, to unravel how neighborhood walkability changes in relation to deprivation over time. The results not only capture the nonlinearity in the relationship between neighborhood deprivation and walkability over time, but also highlight the marginal effects of each neighborhood deprivation indicator. Additionally, comparisons of the outputs between the machine learning algorithm and OLS regression illustrated that the machine learning approach did tell a different story and should contribute to remedying the contradictory conclusions in earlier studies. The maximum wind speed radius of a strong typhoon making landfall is an important factor influencing the numerical forecasting of storm surges. A method for inverting the maximum wind speed radius of typhoons based on wave buoys data was designed to significantly reduce the error in 24 h storm surge forecasting in this paper, and an operation scheme was proposed to enhance the storm surge numerical forecasting system based on this method. Hangzhou Bay and the Yangtze River Estuary, which have been frequently impacted by typhoons over the past five years, were selected as the research area. Common schemes for the maximum wind speed radius were analyzed, and five ladder schemes (10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 km) were established for wave and storm surge numerical model verification of Typhoon Muifa in 2022. Based on a comparison of the wave hindcast results and wave buoys observation data, the wave hindcast result of the commonly used scheme (30 km) was significantly greater than that of the observation data, and the optimal scheme (15 km) closest to the observation data could be determined during the 48 h warning period. Moreover, it was difficult to identify the optimal scheme during the 48 h warning period based on the storm surge hindcast results. A 24 h storm surge numerical forecasting test was performed with the commonly used scheme (30 km) and the optimal scheme (15 km). The results showed that the root mean square error (RMSE) of the optimal scheme (15 km) was 34% lower than that of the commonly used scheme (30 km), while the maximum storm surge error was also reduced from 47.7% for the commonly adopted scheme (30 km) to 11.8% for the optimal scheme (15 km). The maximum storm surges under the optimal scheme (15 km) along Hangzhou Bay and the Yangtze River Estuary ranged from 1.9 to 2.2 m, which were closer to the observation data, and the maximum storm surge under the commonly used scheme (30 km) was 0.8~1.2 m greater than that under the optimal scheme (15 km). The paper adopts a difference-in-difference method to investigate the impacts of government-initiated neighborhood renewal programs on the values of aged housing properties in Hangzhou, China. Three empirical findings are obtained. First, the renewal raised living utility values and thus rents of the renewed properties. Second, the improvement in living utility value is partially offset by a reduction in the option value of housing redevelopment, because government planning policy specifies that the renewed neighborhoods will not be redeveloped at least in the next 5–10 years. Third, housing prices in neighborhoods farther away from scenic spots, which were generally lower, even dropped after the renewal. This evidences the complementarity between housing conditions and external environment, i.e., the renewal raises housing values less if the external environment is more inferior. Declassified images from the Keyhole (KH)-9 HEXAGON mapping camera system (MCS) offer fine-scale details of urban regions. However, these images have seldom been utilized in urban research due to challenges in labelling (collecting training samples), having only a single panchromatic band and classification. To tackle these limitations, this paper focuses on developing a multi-stage reconstructed historical fine-scale urban landscape (RHFUL) pipeline for KH-9 HEXAGON MCS. The proposed pipeline first integrates internalized parameters, hierarchical object-based image analysis properties and class variability to synthesize new features, abbreviated to IHC. Second, the pipeline uses a weak semi-automated supervised labelling (WSSL) approach to acquire training samples. Finally, the training samples and generated features are subjected to the SegNet deep learning architecture. The performance of each step was assessed against corresponding state-of-the-art benchmark approaches for each of synthesizing features, labelling and classification. In the proposed RHFUL pipeline, the proposed IHC provided the most salient information for urban classification, WSSL labelled urban features more accurately, and the SegNet architecture classified more accurately the urban features relative to the benchmarks. Considering the potential advantages, but also limitations of KH-9 HEXAGON MCS images, further research should be undertaken, particularly drawing on the current advances in pattern recognition techniques for contemporary digital satellite sensors. Grasping the interrelationship between the supply and demand of ecosystem services (ESs) and spatial scale characteristics is the foundation for effective ecological zoning management, which helps to realize a win–win situation for both ecological protection and economic development. This paper focuses on the following three real problems: mismatch in ES supply and demand evaluation, mechanical and subjective delineation of ecological zoning, and rough management strategies, and constructs a multi-scale ecological zoning management framework for the "comprehensive evaluation of supply and demand, ecological zoning, and enhancement of human well-being". This study integrates the InVEST model, SOM, Z-score quadrant matching, and coordination degree method, and applies them to the ecological management zoning of Hangzhou. The results show that (1) the spatial differentiation of ESs in Hangzhou is significant. The spatial pattern of the five types of ES supply varies at the county scale and the grid scale on which ES demand is concentrated and is consistent at different scales. (2) ES supply–demand matching in Hangzhou is at the basic coordination and can be divided into four modes including HH, LH, LL, and HL at both the county and grid scales. On the small scale, the proportion of mismatches declines slightly, but the severity rises. (3) ES supply is divided into four categories as follows: the food production bundle, the carbon storage bundle, the ESs balancing bundle, and the ESs depleting bundle, and clarifies the priority of ES management. (4) Construct an ecological management practice path, delineates 6 ecological management zones at the county scale and 19 secondary management zones at the grid scale. Targeted measures are proposed in terms of supply–demand adjustment strategies, ecological management strategies, and key implementation areas. This study helps to incorporate the interaction between the supply and demand of ESs into the planning framework and provides decision-making support for refined ecological management. Background: Hygiene behaviors in public toilets are important to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases, especially during the pandemic. All through the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, governments in many countries published guidance on personal hygiene for the general population to prevent disease transmission. This study aimed to investigate improvements in residents' hygiene awareness and behaviors in public toilets before and during the pandemic.Methods: We recruited 316 residents between November and December 2018 before the pandemic, and 314 residents between December 2020 and January 2021 during the pandemic in the same study sites in Hangzhou, a well-developed city in China. Residents' hygiene behaviors in public toilets, hygiene awareness, risk perception, and sociodemographic factors were collected. Bivariate analysis and multivariable logistic regressions were used to test the differences between the two rounds. We conducted an observational study to record the provision of hygiene amenities at toilets during the pandemic.Results: After controlling for sociodemographic factors (gender, marital status, age, education level, and monthly household income), compared with respondents recruited before the pandemic, respondents recruited during the pandemic were more likely to perceive the risks of infection when using public toilets (aOR = 1.77, 95%CI [1.20, 2.60]), and were more likely to be aware of the risks of touching contaminated toilet facilities (aOR = 1.72, 95%CI [1.17, 2.54]) and the risks of not using soap to wash one's hands after using the toilet (aOR = 1.93, 95%CI [1.38, 2.72]). They were more likely to always clean their toilet seat with alcohol (aOR = 1.88, 95%CI [1.01, 3.51]), wash hands with soap (aOR = 1.52, 95%CI [1.09, 2.10]) and dry their hands with a dryer (aOR = 1.78, 95%CI [1.16, 2.71]), but they were less likely to always wash their hands after using the toilets (aOR = 0.57, 95%CI [0.32, 1.00]). Among 70 public toilets observed, 9 provided alcohol for toilet seat disinfection, 52 provided soap, 33 provided paper towels, and 41 had working hand dryers.Conclusions: Despite the overall improvement, residents' hygiene behaviors in public toilets and the supply of hygiene amenities were still suboptimal during the pandemic. Purpose: This paper aims to study the impact of land options on the land transfer behaviour of Chinese city governments. Design/methodology/approach: Based on the institutional environment of Hangzhou, China, the option pricing model is used to measure the option value of the trading plots. The effect of the option value on the land transfer price and the timing of transfers are estimated respectively, using the hedonic price model and the survival analysis models. Findings: The results show that the option value has a significant explanation on land price and timing of land transfers. Under the effect of option value, the positive impact of fiscal pressure on the possibility of land transfer weakens. From the perspective of the annual option premium rate, the option premium is closely related to the real estate cycle. Option premiums are higher during booms but lower during recessions and in new urban areas. Practical implications: By revealing the distinction of land option premiums in different places and times, this paper provides a reference for city governments seeking a balance between real estate regulation and obtaining more land revenue. Despite the increasing scale of the electric vehicle market in recent years, in view of the long charging time of EVs (Electric Vehicles), the accessibility of charging facilities is still an obstacle to the rapid development of EVs. Therefore, the Chinese government has promulgated a one‐size‐fits‐all construction strategy which means constructing charging piles in parking lots with a fixed proportion. This paper mainly simulates the actual demand and adjusts the charging price of charging stations to reduce the uneven spatial distribution of charging demand. In particular, this paper constructs a multi‐agent system of the road network, vehicle, and charging station to simulate the charging behaviour in the mixed scenario of EVs and traditional fuel vehicles. The impact of charging pricing adjustment on individuals and charging stations is fed back in real‐time by using the characteristics of agents to respond to dynamic changes and make intelligent decisions. This paper proposes an iterative optimization method to obtain the optimal pricing strategy for charging stations to reduce the imbalance of charging demand. The participation of private organizations in the construction of affordable housing is important to ensure a sustainable housing development. This paper uses structural equation modeling (SEM) to investigate the main determinants of private organizations' participation in affordable housing in Hangzhou, China. Our results show that both internal factors (such as value identity, sense of responsibility, profit-seeking tendency, herd mentality, size of organization and knowledge, and experience) and external factors (such as legal system, project profit, policy incentive, financial support, and supporting facilities) significantly impact the participation of private organizations in the construction of affordable housing. At present, time series InSAR technology has been widely used in surface deformation monitoring. The extraction of permanent scatterers is an important part, which is directly related to the accuracy of monitoring results. The existing permanent scatterers extraction methods are mainly based on the amplitude information or the coherence information, there is a problem that the point quality and point density cannot be taken into account, and the selection of the point parameters requires operators to have a wealth of experience. In order to solve the above problems, a permanent scatterers extraction method based on the combination of amplitude and model coherence coefficient is proposed in this paper. This method examines not only the amplitude information of the permanent scatterers, but also the phase information of the point. And the phase quality directly affects the accuracy of deformation inversion. This paper takes Yupu Bridge, Yiqiao Town, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City as the experimental area to carry out comparative experiments. The results show that the final point target density extracted by this method is 1.97 times that of the conventional method based on amplitude information, and shows the details of deformation distribution of Yupu Bridge more completely. As a new visual consumer space, the "Internet-famous space" provides a new perspective for the study on urban space in the mobile Internet era. Based on the data of the Douyin (the Chinese version of Tiktok) platform, this paper quantitatively measures the popularity and the distribution characteristics of Internet-famous spaces in the main urban area of Hangzhou. It is concluded that the distribution of Internet-famous spaces shows a spatial pattern of multi-core concentration, with spatial popularity decreasing from the urban center to the suburbs. The hot spot areas of Internet-famous spaces are mainly distributed in the functional nodes of the city, and the concentration characteristics of the internal spaces in these different areas show great differences. The sources of nitrate in the shallow groundwater at urban area, Hangzhou City, China were investigated using chemical and isotopic techniques. Groundwater electric conductivity was high in the study area and ranged from 369–1,544 μS/cm. Most of the groundwater was weakly alkaline and the groundwater chemistry was seriously influenced by land use in the city. There was a high frequency of groundwater (43% of total) with nitrate above World Heath Organization’s standards of 10 mg NO3/L. The different land-use areas had different nitrate concentrations (0.04–34.41 mgN/L) and δ15N NO3 values (7.8~35.5‰). Domestic wastewater was the major nitrate source of shallow groundwater in the urban area, and the point source (septic tank) still existed in residential settings. At agricultural settings manure was the major NO3 sources. High δ15N NO3 value (>20‰) and temporal variations of the δ15N NO3 value suggested that in residential areas it probably resulted from denitrification. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, to effectively mitigate the issue of urban traffic congestion, tunnels have become widely used new type of road. However, when the soil layer is excavated and disturbed, the resulting vibration affects the safety of the buildings above it, especially for ancient buildings that are very sensitive to vibrations. Taking the White Tower in Hangzhou as an example, in this paper, the vibration response propagation of large-diameter shield tunnel excavation to adjacent ancient towers is studied through field measurements. The vibration response of the unexcavated south line tunnel is predicted by using 3D numerical analysis software, and the optimal construction parameters are obtained. The study found that the frequency domain component of the White Tower bedrock vibration caused by shield tunneling is mainly 5–20 Hz, and the vibration response attenuates significantly beyond 40 m. Further, reducing the propulsive force can reduce the vibration response of the White Tower; therefore, controlling the propulsion and reducing the tunneling velocity can reduce the vibration response. With its early start in urbanization, Europe has accumulated a wealth of practical experience in urban agriculture (UA), exploring various development models. This paper compares and analyzes the characteristic patterns of UA in Europe and China through theoretical research, academic frontier exploration, and case analysis. In order to investigate and analyze theoretical developments and the current state of academic frontiers in a systematic, accessible, and comprehensive approach, the methodology of bibliometric analysis has been utilized. A bibliometric method is applied to analyze relevant data from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection database and 2230 CNKI publications. The case study section conducts separate field research on nine representative European practices of urban food gardening and urban farming. Additionally, the study scrutinizes UA research development and its implementation in Hangzhou, China. Based on the findings of this study, the authors recommend that European approaches to the development of UA in China's future UA practice be taken into account, in particular their methods and strategies for realizing social and cultural benefits. It is imperative to integrate UA projects into urban green space system planning and to rationalize their construction types. Cold-chain logistics presents significant challenges to sustainable development in terms of economics, society, and the environment. To address this issue, this paper focuses on solving a real-world problem—the multipath location-routing problem-based cold-chain logistics (MPLRPCCL), which considers soft time windows and heterogeneous fleets. The mathematical model aims to optimize the total logistics costs, including fuel consumption, carbon emissions, cargo deterioration, penalties, operating depots, and renting fleets. To effectively solve this problem, the paper proposes three versions of a memetic algorithm (MA) that incorporate control modules for monitoring the MA's performance and improving its global optimization performance. Computational evaluations were conducted, and the results show that the proposed algorithms are effective and outperform the classic MA framework. Furthermore, the proposed model and algorithms were applied to real-world cases in Hangzhou city, China, demonstrating their practical applicability. Overall, this paper offers a promising approach to tackling the complex challenges posed by cold-chain logistics and contributes to the sustainable development of this important field. Maintaining the supply of multiple ecosystem services of cultivated land is directly concerned to the sustainable development of human society. The ecological compensation of cultivated land is an important measure which has been major strategy to promote ecological protection of cultivated land and ensure food security in China. Although the cultivated land is immovable, when the grain transfer from surplus to poor areas, the cultivated land resources are reallocated and the corresponding ecosystem services are spilt. This paper constructs a model to quantify cultivated land resources flows hidden in the grain, calculates the compensation standard, and quantifies the compensation amount by building the eco-compensation mechanism. The typical integrated region in China, the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) was selected as the study area. The results show that (1) cultivated land resources in the YRD appear the characteristics of outflow in 24 cities and inflow in 17 cities, which means the former is the recipient and the latter is the payer of eco-compensation. (2) Generally, the developed cities have much more outflow of cultivated land resources than the developing cities in the YRD. And the city of Shanghai and Hangzhou, which are the best economic developed cities in the YRD, transfers into most grain and cultivated land. (3) Paddy field and dry farmland have different eco-value, so the compensation is different, respectively. Our study can enrich the perspective of cultivated land eco-compensation and proposes policy implications for improving the eco-compensation mechanism and realizing multifunctional ecological protection of cultivated land in China. A sacred site that draws pilgrims from distant regions is a distinctive resource for studying religion. Research into a site's relevance to pilgrims and how it came to be founded contributes to a better understanding of religious activity. To address these issues, a thorough historical analysis of a sacred site's records is essential. Such an analysis endeavors to distinguish the historical facts of a sacred site from its narratives and further discusses the significance of each. With such intent, this study focuses on the Rujing Stupa, a sacred site of significant importance to transnational pilgrimages that has yet to receive sufficient scholarly attention. The stupa, which is located at the Jingci Monastery in Hangzhou, China, is believed to hold the relics of Tiantong Rujing 天童如浄 (1163–1228), a Song Dynasty monk. Although the modern stele inscription at this location indicates that the stupa was founded in the 13th century, shortly after the monk's death, this paper examines the historical reinventions within the inscription and traces the influence of Japanese narratives on such a reinvention. This study demonstrates that the Rujing Stupa was established by, and for, the Japanese Sōtō Buddhists. The Chinese monk's connection to the Sōtō pilgrims lies in Rujing's role as the master who instructed Dōgen 道元 (1200–1253), the founder of the Sōtō tradition, making his stupa a sacred site for the Sōtō community. Concerns of commemoration and reifying doctrinal authenticity motivated two generations of Japanese pilgrims to construct the Rujing stupa in the late 19th and 20th centuries, respectively. On the other hand, Rujing's significance and the presence of the Sōtō tradition were scarcely acknowledged in China until the early modern period. Only in the late 20th century did Chinese Buddhists begin to appreciate this stupa. Examining the site's historical reinventions and identifying the factors that shape its narrative, this case study offers insights into the investigation of sacred sites and suggests a concern for narrative in the examination of a site's history and significance. With the development of economic globalization, urban agglomerations have become growth poles and core areas of economic development. By building knowledge innovation networks in urban agglomerations, we can effectively improve the strength of inter-city knowledge innovation links and better realize the integrated and synergistic development of the region. This study selected core cities in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as the study area, constructed the knowledge innovation network based on inter-city dissertation cooperation data from 2010 to 2020, and analyzed the characteristics and evolution of its knowledge network by combining social network analysis and geospatial analysis. The research results show that: (1) with changes in policies and investment in scientific research and innovation, intra-regional thesis cooperation in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration has been increasing and the scale of the knowledge innovation cooperation network is growing; (2) in addition to the core cities radiating innovation resources outward to drive the development of other node cities, other cities are continuously improving their own innovation capabilities, taking the initiative to strengthen knowledge innovation cooperation with core cities and enhancing their own position in the network; (3) there are no longer isolated cities within the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, and a multi-core knowledge network structure centered on Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Suzhou has initially formed, but the network is still spatially heterogeneous; (4) there are still problems within the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration such as uneven development of knowledge innovation and low participation of peripheral cities, which need to be addressed jointly by all regions. The article concludes with some suggestions for countermeasures to provide a reference for the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration to continuously strengthen intra-regional knowledge cooperation in the future, enhance regional competitiveness, and ultimately achieve synergistic development among cities. The rapid development of digital finance has changed all aspects of human life and has also had a deep impact on the social governance system. This paper constructs an unbalanced panel of data of the theft crime rates for 289 cities in China during 2014–2019 based on the theft criminal judgments published on China's Judicial Documents website and explores the impact of digital financial inclusion on urban theft crime. It shows that there is a significantly negative correlation between digital financial inclusion and the urban theft crime rate, indicating that the development of digital financial inclusion can effectively reduce urban theft crime, which is also confirmed by instrumental variable analysis based on the spherical distance between cities and Hangzhou, and that digital financial inclusion mainly reduces theft crime committed by more serious and highly educated individuals. In addition, mechanism analysis shows that digital financial inclusion can reduce the expected benefits of theft by enhancing payment convenience and raise the opportunity cost by promoting employment. Therefore, in the Internet era, it is essential for China to continuously improve social governance tools that adapt to the development of new technologies to achieve high-quality urban development. Metropolises in China are undergoing rapid suburbanization processes, resulting in spatial differences in the built environment from the city centre to the outer suburbs. The continuous suburbanization has changed residents' subjective well-being and behaviours. The association between built environment and subjective well-being has been studied extensively, but there is scarce research on the influence of the built environment on both subjective well-being and behaviours with regards to the self-selection effect in the suburbanization process. This paper constructs an analytical framework to simulate the impacts of the built environment on subjective well-being and behaviours. The propensity score matching method is applied to questionnaire data from Hangzhou in 2018 to investigate these impacts. The results of this research show that in three selected districts, the mean score difference for fitness and social behaviour is quite significant (0.4 and 0.2, respectively), whereas the mean score for subjective well-being is 0.1. Both fitness and social behaviours are significantly and positively related to subjective well-being. Fitness behaviour has a greater impact than social behaviour. The four dimensions of built environment impact on both subjective well-being and behaviours after self-selection were controlled using the propensity score matching method. The results of the study can inform local governments; exurban development zones should be equipped with more high-end public facilities and public transportation in order to improve residents' quality of life in the suburbanization process. Purpose: In recent years, little research has been conducted on the willingness to use and pay for digital health technologies for elderly people. Thus, this study investigates the willingness to use and pay for digital health technologies and their influential factors among urban elderly in Hangzhou, China. Methods: A structured questionnaire was completed by 639 older adults from 12 communities in Hangzhou. This paper presents a descriptive statistics analysis and performs a multivariate regression to identify the determinants of willingness to use and pay for digital health technologies among the elderly. Results: The result shows the percentage of participants who chose very willing (3.6%) and partly willing (10%) to use was lower than those who were less unwilling (26.4%) and not willing (27.1%) to use. The percentage of participants who are unwilling (less unwilling,30.5%; not willing, 39.7%) to pay for digital health technology is even higher. The regression results show that age, working status, exercise and physical activity, medical insurance, income, life satisfaction and history of illness were significantly associated with willingness to use digital health technology among urban elderly. On the other hand, age, exercise status, income and history of illness were significantly associated with willingness to pay for digital health technologies among older adults. Conclusion: The overall willingness to use and pay for digital health technologies are low among urban older people living in Hangzhou. Our results have important implications for digital health policy making. This paper proposes a random-effect spatial OD (origin-destination) dependence model to investigate varying trip distributions over time. By proposing a maximum likelihood estimation with spectral decomposition methods, the effects of spatial dependences and the unobservable zonal heterogeneity at the origin and destination can be estimated simultaneously. A series of numerical experiments and a real-world trip distribution study with cellular signaling data collected in Hangzhou, China, are conducted. This paper enriches the existing literature by developing (1) an innovative specification to allow for random effects in existing spatial OD dependence models; (2) an innovative estimation method to obtain the values of parameters and improve model fittings; and (3) a set of numerical experiments and an empirical trip distribution analysis that jointly captures spatial effects (spatial interaction and spatial OD dependences), and the unobservable zonal heterogeneity. As we all known, estimating the proportion of passenger route choice is of great significance in almost every aspect of urban rail transit control system, including passenger allocation, fare clearing and flow control strategies. Existing researches only pay attention to the route choice through travel time, but usually ignore the influence in different periods of the day. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel estimation method for the proportion of passenger route choice in different periods. Firstly, by introducing the normalized value of passenger flow and the standard coefficient of peak passenger flow, the train operation time is divided into peak and flat periods. Secondly, the travel time distribution of each route can be obtained by estimating the expected value and standard deviation of passenger travel time in each different period. The Naïve Bayes algorithm is further employed to realize the identification of the proportion of passenger route choices. Finally, this proposed algorithm is applied to Hangzhou Metro. The result shows that by using the segmented estimation, the error can be reduced by more than 60% compared with the whole-day experiment, which indicates the superiority of the method. This paper first defines and clarifies the theoretical framework of industrial policy and industrial structure, and then analyzes the relationship between industrial policy and industrial structure of Hangzhou Bay through case studies about domestic and international cases and empirical research. The results revealed from the present study will have important theoretical and practical implication for governments to improve the relationship between industrial policy and industrial structure, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the industrial structure of Hangzhou Bay. The main results are: first, from 2000 to 2018, the urban agglomeration around Hangzhou Bay (UAHB) has grown more than ten times, but there are considerable differences among different cities; second, the growth rate of the output of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries of UAHB is less than the growth rate of the output of the whole country, and there are significant differences among the output values of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries of different cities; third, the industries in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Huzhou, Shaoxing, Jiaxing, and Zhoushan are highly complementary, and the industrial structure problems brought by their capital are more serious than the problems brought by labor force; fourth, the total number of industrial policies and tertiary industry policies of the cities increased year by year, but the number of policy about the secondary industry begins to decrease. According to results revealed from a literature review and interviews with experts, this paper suggests that the urban agglomeration around Hangzhou Bay should focus more on the planning of policies about the development of the second industry. In making the policies, it is suggested to consider factors such as technological development, high quality, macroeconomic and microeconomic factors (e.g. market competition, administrative monopoly, scale discrimination and industrial clusters), and the latest industrial policies implemented in developed countries. This paper proposes a framework for a layout evaluation of urban public sports facilities. First, the buffer analysis method is used to measure the service level of public sports facilities. The study findings indicate that the overall service level of public sports facilities presents the spatial characteristics of a central agglomeration, and the value of the service level diffuses outward from high to low. There is evident spatial heterogeneity in the layout of public sports facilities in Hangzhou. Second, the Gini coefficient, Lorenz curve, and location entropy are employed to measure the equity of the distribution among spatial units and the intradistrict disparity. The results show a mismatch between the spatial distribution of the facilities and the distribution of the permanent population. The patterns of distribution of the location entropy classes of Hangzhou can be divided into three types: balanced, alternating, and divergent districts. The method in this paper is effective in measuring spatial equity and visualizing it. it has a certain degree of systemicity, universality and operability. At the same time, this method can compare the diachronic characteristics of the same city and the synchronic characteristics of different cities, which has universal application value. The cult of Qiansui Baozhang, a legendary Indian monk, gained prominence during the Song dynasty. He has been revered as the founding patriarch of Hangzhou's Zhong Tianzhu monastery ever since. Although accounts of Baozhang's travels in China date back to the third century, records about him primarily emerged during the Song dynasty. The earliest known account of Baozhang can be found in the Jiatai kuaiji zhi, where he is described as a Daoist alchemist. Subsequently, his hagiography was compiled in the Chan historiography Jiatai pu denglu. Selected as the first figure in the "Yinghua shengxian" section, Baozhang is portrayed as a divine monk who traveled to many locations which are significantly important to Chan Buddhism. My research suggests that Baozhang's cult initially gained popularity in the Pujiang, Zhuji, and Kuaiji regions. During the mid-Southern Song dynasty, the abbot of the Zhong Tianzhu monastery played a pivotal role in spreading Baozhang's cult among high literati. With the dissemination of the Jiatai pu denglu, Baozhang's account was included in multiple monastic gazetteers, and he himself was revered as the founding patriarch in several monasteries. Examining Baozhang's various records from diverse sources, this paper aims to delineate his transformation from a local cult figure to a Chan ideal promoted in imperial-sanctioned Buddhist historiography. I argue that the recognition of Baozhang's cult demonstrates the Chan school's acknowledgment and response to prevalent folk Buddhist cults at the time. By incorporating Baozhang's cult into their narratives, the Chan school actively engaged with and adapted to the religious landscape of the Song dynasty. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cellular-connected unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) present a viable solution to address communication and navigation limitations by leveraging base stations for air–ground communication. However, in complex urban scenarios with stringent communication requirements, achieving asymmetrical control becomes crucial to strike a balance between communication reliability and flight safety. Moreover, existing cellular-connected UAV trajectory planning algorithms often struggle to handle real scenes with sudden and intricate obstacles. To address the aforementioned challenges, this paper presents the multi-tier trajectory planning method (MTTP), which takes into account air–ground communication service assurance and collision avoidance in intricate urban environments. The proposed approach establishes a flight risk model that accounts for both the outage probability of UAV-ground base station (GBS) communication and the complexity of flight environments, and transforms the inherently complex three-dimensional (3D) trajectory optimization problem into a risk distance minimization model. To optimize the flight trajectory, a hierarchical progressive solution approach is proposed, which combines the strengths of the heuristic search algorithm (HSA) and deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm. This innovative fusion of techniques empowers MTTP to efficiently navigate complex scenarios with sudden obstacles and communication challenges. Simulations show that the proposed MTTP method achieves a more superior performance of trajectory planning than the conventional communication-based solution, which yields a substantial reduction in flight distance of at least 8.49% and an impressive 10% increase in the mission success rate. Furthermore, a real-world scenario is chosen from the Yuhang District, Hangzhou (a southern Chinese city), to validate the practical applicability of the MTTP method in highly complex operating scenarios. On-demand ridesplitting is a form of ridesourcing where riders with similar origins and destinations are matched to the same driver and vehicle in real time, and the ride and costs are split among users. With the convenience of all kinds of ridesourcing services, the number of ridesplitting passengers increases, which may have a great impact on the urban mobility. In this paper, we analyze ridesplitting behavior and its impact on multimodal mobility, e.g., vehicle kilometers traveled (VKT) and transportation modal shift, using real-world ridesourcing data extracted from an on-demand ride service platform in Hangzhou, China, and questionnaires filled by on-demand ridesplitting passengers. With the consideration of the VKT shifted from non-passenger/private vehicles, this paper uses the saved VKT of two ridesplitting types, e.g., DiDi Hitch and DiDi Express ridesplitting, to quantify the ridesplitting impact. For the whole ridesourcing ecosystem, ridesplitting is estimated to decrease 58,124 VKT per day in Hangzhou, of which Hitch and Express ridesplitting contribute 2175 km and 55,949 km per day, respectively. The saved VKT of Hitch is much smaller than Express ridesplitting for the following two reasons: (1) Hitch orders are fewer than Express ridesplitting; (2) more than half of the Hitch passengers shift modes from bus/metro transit or other non-passenger/private cars. Purpose: As a new human resource management practice, idiosyncratic deals are personalized employment arrangements negotiated between employees and employers and intended to benefit them both. It plays an important role in attracting, retaining and motivating employees to promote breakthrough innovation. Based on the input-process-output (I-P-O) model, this paper examines the relationship between team idiosyncratic deals and team breakthrough innovation, the mediating role of team exploratory-exploitative knowledge sharing, and the moderating roles of team transactive memory systems and team cognitive flexibility. Participants and methods: In order to reduce the effects of common method biases and causal lag effect, this study is divided into three stages for data collection, with a time interval of 1 month. Eighty teams (406 employees) from six enterprises in Shanghai and Hangzhou were selected as samples, and the hypothesis test was carried out by hierarchical regression analysis, bootstrap, and Johnson-Neyman method. Results: The results show that higher team idiosyncratic deals are associated with higher team breakthrough innovation through higher team exploratoryexploitative knowledge sharing, and that team transactive memory systems and team cognitive flexibility positively moderate the mediating effect of team exploratory-exploitative knowledge sharing in the relationship between team idiosyncratic deals and team breakthrough innovation in the first stage and the second stage, respectively. Under the joint effect of high team transactive memory systems and high team cognitive flexibility, the mediating effect of team exploratory-exploitative knowledge sharing is stronger. Conclusion: The research results break through the previous research framework of social exchange theory, and I-P-O model to explore the influence mechanism of team idiosyncratic deals, in order to promote the sustainable growth of team breakthrough innovation through this nonstandard work arrangement. It is hoped that this research can inspire modern enterprises to create team idiosyncratic deals for valuable teams engaged in breakthrough innovation, which are more conducive to give full play to their heterogeneous talents, and finally help enterprises break through the industry bottleneck and win the market competition.
