Purpose: To perform a bibliometric study in the literature about the increasing number of global studies on dental esthetics in recent years. Materials and Methods: Articles on dental esthetics published between 1980 and 2021 were pulled from the Web of Science (WoS) database. In this comprehensive bibliometric study on dental esthetics, a summary of 2,858 articles published in the last 41 years was shared. Network visualization maps were used to identify citation analyses and trending topics. Spearman correlation coefficient was used for correlation studies. The exponential smoothing estimator was used to estimate the number of articles to be published in the coming years. Results: Of the 3,666 publications, 2,858 (77.9%) were articles. The top three contributing countries to the literature were the USA (816, 28.5%), Brazil (286, 10%), and Italy (246, 8.6%). The most active institution was the University of Bern (n = 55). The journal with the highest number of articles was Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry (n = 178). According to the average number of citations per article, the most influential journal was Journal of Periodontology (citations: 55.6). Conclusions: Keywords of the trending topics related to dental esthetics are perception, bleaching, cleft lip, connective tissue graft, smile esthetics, adolescent, esthetic region, soft tissue augmentation, and clinical studies. This article presents an approach to forecasting count time series with a form of exponential smoothing built from observation‐driven models. The proposed method is easy to implement and simple to interpret. A variant of the approach is also proposed to handle the impact of outliers on the forecast. The performance of the methodology is studied with simulations and illustrated with an analysis of the number of monthly cases of dengue fever observed in Italy for the years 2008–2021. • Research question: how cancer impacts on LE changes during patients' entire life • LE increased in patients surviving the first years and decreasing thereafter. • Patients' LE in the long-term approached but seldom reached the general population's LE. • This method describes when cancer survivors' excess risk of death became negligible. • Life expectancy indicator is easy to be understood and interpreted by patients. The aims of this study were to provide life expectancy (LE) estimates of cancer patients at diagnosis and LE changes over time since diagnosis to describe the impact of cancer during patients' entire lives. Cancer patients' LE was calculated by standard period life table methodology using the relative survival of Italian patients diagnosed in population-based cancer registries in 1985–2011 with follow-up to 2013. Data were smoothed using a polynomial model and years of life lost (YLL) were calculated as the difference between patients' LE and that of the age- and sex-matched general population. The YLL at diagnosis was highest at the youngest age at diagnosis, steadily decreasing thereafter. For patients diagnosed at age 45 years, the YLL was above 20 for lung and ovarian cancers and below 6 for thyroid cancer in women and melanoma in men. LE progressively increased in patients surviving the first years, decreasing thereafter, to approach that of the general population. YLL in the long run mainly depends on attained age. Providing quantitative data is essential to better define clinical follow-up and plan health care resource allocation. Abstract: In many Western countries a “minimum volume rule” policy has been adopted as a quality measure for complex surgical procedures. In Italy, the National Transplant Centre set the minimum number of orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) procedures/y at 25/center. OLT procedures performed in a single center for a reasonably large period may be treated as a time series to evaluate trend, seasonal cycles, and nonsystematic fluctuations. Between January 1, 1987 and December 31, 2006, we performed 563 cadaveric donor OLTs to adult recipients. During 2007, there were another 28 procedures. The greatest numbers of OLTs/y were performed in 2001 (n = 51), 2005 (n = 50), and 2004 (n = 49). A time series analysis performed using R Statistical Software (Foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria), a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics, showed an incremental trend after exponential smoothing as well as after seasonal decomposition. The predicted OLT/mo for 2007 calculated with the Holt-Winters exponential smoothing applied to the previous period 1987–2006 helped to identify the months where there was a major difference between predicted and performed procedures. In 2015, the CPS (Centro Pericolosità Sismica, Seismic Hazard Centre) of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia started to promote and coordinate the activities of a project aimed at producing the new national probabilistic seismic hazard model for Italy. We present the results of the activities of a task of this project, task 3: "seismicity models", that is focused on the definition of a set of seismicity models and on the analysis of their uncertainties. More than 30 researchers subdivided in 12 working groups produced 11 seismicity models covering the entire Italian territory, 1 models built ad hoc for the volcanic Etna area, 1 model for the seismicity of the Calabrian Arc, and 1 model for sources external to the Italian territory. The national models are built using different types of sources, methods, and input data. In particular, 5 models are based on area source and, with different approaches, on expected seismicity rates by means of fit of observations of the historical earthquake catalogue; 2 models are based on a mixed fixed-radius and adaptive radius and on Woo methodology for smoothing seismicity; 2 models used faults and background seismicity and; 2 models are based on geodetic data and they are independent from the historical seismicity.
