The pandemic COVID-19 constituted one of the greatest ordeals the world has seen in the last decades. Social isolation has changed athletes’ lives completely and brought a number of consequences – both technical and psychological. The aim of this study was to investigate the dominant psychic conditions and perfectionism and their relation to the preferred coping strategies during the pandemic COVID-19 among sports students from Bulgaria and Russia and to outline their specificity depending on their gender, kind of sport, qualification, and nationality. The research was done among 199 sports students from Bulgaria and Russia who practice 18 kinds of sport, aged between 16 and 32 years, divided into groups according to their gender, kind of sport, level of qualification, nationality. The research methods included: 1) Sociodemographic, personal and sports evaluation; 2) Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (FMPS, Frost, Marten, Lahart & Rosenblate, 1990), adapted for Bulgarian conditions by T. Iancheva, 2009; 3) Profile of Mood States (McNair, Lorr, & Droppleman, 1971); 4) Approach to Coping in Sport Questionnaire (ACSQ-1; Kim 1999; Kim & Duda, 1997). There are significant differences depending on gender, kind of sport, qualification, and nationality. The specific role of adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism was viewed in relation to the dominant psychic conditions during social isolation and the preferred coping strategies.

Different studies have shown that a bad psychological predisposition of the injured athlete could hinder his return to training. The aim of this work was to translate and adapt the questionnaire of psychological predisposition for injured athletes from Spanish to English. A translation-backtranslation methodology was used with native translator and experts in the field of injury recovery. The translators found a high conceptual equivalence between both versions, as well as a low level of difficulty for their translation. The PRIA-RS questionnaire is presented as a conceptually and contextually valid version. Its use at the international level, thanks to this new version in English, could be increased.

Created by Hergé in 1929, Tintin is a truly successful publication, since these comic books have been translated into about a hundred languages and published throughout the world during the 20th century. Several studies have already been conducted on Tintin. However, the place and role of physical and sports activities practiced by this tireless journalist in the promotion of these highly sustainable activities have never been analyzed. Through both quantitative and qualitative analyses (descriptions, counts, frequencies and percentages), this work studies all the panels of the 23 albums of Tintin’s adventures dealing with any form of physical exercise or sport. The results indicate that the representation of physical and sporting activity in Tintin’s adventures remains steady and consistent from the first (1931) to the last book (1976). Thus, Hergé had never ceased to believe in the beneficial, physiological, psychological, moral and social effects of physical activity on his young, tireless hero. To summarize, the eternally youthful and perfectly fit, Tintin leads both his core band and occasional characters and may serve as a role model influencing young 20th century readers toward the benefits of an active lifestyle.

The COVID-19 outbreak has affected the sports field unprecedentedly. The emergency alert has deprived athletes of training in a suitable environment, as they are faced with cancellations of relevant events in their sports careers. This situation can cause stress levels and other emotional disorders similar to those experienced by athletes during periods of injury. Since the relationship between psychological factors and sports injuries is well-studied, the Global Psychological Model of Sports Injury (MGPLD) is applied to this historical situation for athletes. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationships between perfectionism and trait anxiety with indicators of mental health (mood, depression, state anxiety, and stress) in high-performance athletes during confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to explore the coping strategies that athletes have applied and whether they are perceived as useful for managing negative emotional states. A cross-sectional study was conducted through online questionnaires during April 2020, adapting the Psychological Assessment Protocol of the High-Performance Sports Center of Murcia (Spain), to assess the psychological effects of confinement in a cross-cultural sample of 310 athletes (141 women and 169 men) from different countries in Europe, Asia, and America, and from diverse sports disciplines. The protocol comprised six instruments that test perfectionism, trait anxiety, mood states, stress, depression, coping strategies, and sleep. It was answered online via Google Forms. The results show that maladaptive perfectionism was related to all the indicators of athletes' mental health. However, athletes' levels of anxiety, stress, and depressive symptoms are relatively low, and the use of coping strategies such as cognitive restructuring and emotional calm was associated with lower levels of negative emotional states. Besides, the Iceberg Profile, a suitable fit for the mental health model, is observed in the mood of athletes, both in men and in women, although women showed higher levels of anxiety, stress, and depression than men. A strong relationship was observed between maladaptive perfectionism and martial arts sports discipline, superior to other sports. In short, it can be concluded that high-performance athletes in the studied sample showed negative emotional state values below the expected average. The psychological variables that affect competitive performance are called the psychological profile of athletes. In recent years, the interest in female soccer players and the psychological characteristics that affect their performance has increased. The aim of the present study is to analyze the psychological characteristics of female professional soccer players and female amateur soccer players, as well as to determine the differences in the psychological profile of both groups. The participants were 134 federated female soccer players, with an average age of 18.28 years (SD = 4.05). To assess the psychological profile, the questionnaire on Psychological Characteristics related to Sports Performance (CPRD) by Gimeno, Buceta, and P&eacute, rez-Llantada (2001) was used. The results showed that female professional players presented higher values for motivation, while the female amateur players presented higher values for stress control and the influence of performance evaluation. These results can have a great impact on coaches&rsquo, work, since they can help them to establish tasks and training methods consistent with the characteristics of their players.

The decision-making process about when an athlete may safely return to training and competition after an injury is a difficult decision. Safe return to training and competition is characterised by physical and psychological readiness to return to the sport. The objectives of this study are (1) to assess the measurement properties of the Psychological Readiness of Injured Athlete to Return to Sport questionnaire (PRIA-RS), and (2) to analyse the effectiveness which the PRIA-RS questionnaire possesses when applied during four consecutive seasons on professional soccer players. One hundred and nine male soccer players from the Albacete Soccer Club (Spain) were involved during four consecutive seasons for the current study: 2012&ndash, 2013, 2013&ndash, 2014, 2014&ndash, 2015 and 2015&ndash, 2016. Psychometric analysis (validity, reliability, internal consistency and effectiveness) and external psychometric analysis (evaluating measures of patient-reported outcomes (EMPRO)) were confirmed and supported. The main results of the study reveal that the psychometric properties of this questionnaire are optimum for their application in a professional sports context.

The aim of this research was to analyze the relation between the psychological characteristics with the sport injuries in amateur triathletes from Yucatan, Mexico. The next instruments were applied: Psychological Inventory of Sports Performance (IPED), Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT), Questionnaire of Perceived causes of Injuries in Triathletes (CPELT) and Self-report of training and injuries features. The sample was composed of 50 triathletes, 33 men (66%) and 17 women (34%) with a mean age of 24.47 in a range of 15 to 48 years. Significant relationships were found in the number of sport injuries with IPED and CPELT factors. Furthermore, the competitive anxiety, coping negative control from IPED and prevention measures factor from CPELT gained a better predictive value for sports injuries.

Much of the research on the psychological dynamics of performance teams suffers from the following limitations: consideration of only one theoretical framework and analysis of just one perspective (e.g., manager&ndash, coach or team member). To address these shortcomings, this study used a Global Cooperation concept that synthesized five psychological frameworks: coordination, cohesion, cooperation, integration, and identification. The objective of this study was to examine the level of congruence&ndash, symmetry between the two perspectives and the tendency for managers&ndash, coaches and team members to reduce cognitive dissonance in the perception of global cooperation. To this end, 108 managers&ndash, coaches and members of performance teams were studied (range: 23&minus, 60 years old) using a Cooperative Workteam Questionnaire (CWQ). Results revealed that the greatest amount of asymmetry was observed in Global Cooperation and Emotional Cooperation, while less asymmetry was found in Personal Growth, and good congruence&ndash, fit in Conditioned Cooperation. Results are discussed in terms of their theoretical meaning and practical implications for interventions on performance teams.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a psychological intervention program for stress control in youth soccer players. A total sample of 19 male youth soccer players (age: 16.3 ± 0.99 years; years playing soccer: 10.89 ± 1.56 years) completed the current research. The Psychological Characteristics Questionnaire related to Sports Performance (CPRD) was used to assess stress factors related to sports competition. A program based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy was implemented during eight sessions of approximately 50 min each. A pre-post design was used and statistical differences between pre- and post-measures were checked through dependent sample t-tests. The results indicated that the post-test scores were higher than the pre-tests in "Influence of the Evaluation of Performance" and "Mental Skills" factors, which supposes a significant improvement of the stress management related to performance evaluation, as well as the use of psychological resources and techniques. In addition, the post-test scores were also higher in the "Stress Control" factor, although in this case the differences were not statistically significant. Practical indications deriving from the findings of this study can help youth soccer players to manage the stress of competition using a psychological training program.

This study is framed on the Information Theory as a constructive criterion to generate probabilistic distributions –through the elaboration of Bayesian Networks- and to reduce the uncertainty in the occurrence and relationship between two key psychological variables associated with the sports’ performance: Self-Determined Motivation and Competitive Anxiety. We analyzed 674 universitary students/athletes who competed in the 2017 Universitary Games (Universiade) in México, from 44 universities, with an average age of 21 years old (SD = 2.07), and with a sportive experience of 8.61 years of average (SD = 5.15). Methods: Regarding the data analysis, first of all a CHAID algorithm was carried out for to know the independence links among variables, and then two Bayesian networks (BN) were elaborated. The validation of the BN revealed AUC values ranging from 0.5 to 0.92. Subsequently, various instantations were carried out with hypothetical values applied to the “bottom” variables. Results showed two probability trees that have Extrinisic Motivation and Amotivation at the top, while the anxiety/activation due to the worry for performance was at the bottom of probabilities. The instantiations carried out support the existence of these probabilistic relationships, demonstrating the little influence on the competition anxiety generated by the intrinsic motivation. In conclusion, the reduction of the uncertainty made up by the restricted BN may aloe to re-introduce Information Theory principles in psychosocial studies, allowing authors to obtain useful probabilities values upon target psychological variables related with sportive performance.

The psychological factors of sports injuries constitute a growing field of study, even from the point of view of the prediction of their occurrence. Most of them, however, do not take into account the likelihood of the injuries' occurrence and the weight and role of the psychological variables on it. We conducted a study building up a Bayesian Network on a big sample of athletes, trying to assess these probabilistic links among several relevant psychological variables and the injuries' occurrence. The sample was constituted by 297 athletes (239 males, 58 females) from a wide range of sports: track and field; judo; fencing; karate; boxing; swimming; kayaking; artistic rollerskating, and team sports as football, basketball, and handball (Mean age: 25.10 +/- -3.87; range: 21-38 years). Several psychological variables, such as anxiety, social support, and self-efficacy were studied. Also, we recorded the history of injuries as well the body mass index and personal epidemiological data. The overall picture of the generated graph and Bayesian Network and its analysis - including the use of hypothetical data by means of several instantiations - includes the nuclear role of the Self-Efficacy regarding the injuries' occurrence likelihood; the decreasing impact of the competitive anxiety previous to the injury; the probabilistic independence of the players' risk behaviors, and the relevance of the environmental clues such the use of coping strategies and social support in order to build up a good level of Self-Efficacy after the occurrence of an injury. The aim of this study was to examine the post-injury psychological impact looking to avoid sources of health issues. We have analyzed differences in the stress, anxiety, and depression levels between male and female football players who have suffered at least one injury during the last season played, with respect to similar players who have not been injured. A descriptive cross-sectional design was used. The participants were 187 football players and data on the player&rsquo, s injuries were collected. A self-reported questionnaire collected number, type, and severity of injuries sustained during the previous sports season (twelve months), and also the player&rsquo, s current situation, being injured or not injured. To evaluate the psychological variables, the DASS-21 questionnaire was used. Results indicated that the male injured players presented anxiety levels higher than those who were non-injured. When we observe the female players&rsquo, data, the stress levels of the non-injured ones are higher than those of the injured players. Regarding the non-injured athletes, results showed that the female non-injured players presented values in anxiety higher than those corresponding to the non-injured male players. Thus, sport injury affects mental health issues such as anxiety and stress, and in a different way regarding gender.

En el ámbito deportivo competitivo se hace necesaria la creación de un perfil de “riego a la lesión” útil y eficaz que permita elaborar programas específicos de intervención y proporcionar una aproximación al perfil de vulnerabilidad psicológico a la lesión del deportista. La muestra total del estudio fue de 285 hombres (23 no lesionados) y 168 mujeres (24 no lesionadas), los hombres tenían una media de edad de 21,77 años y las mujeres de 20,55 años. La muestra estuvo compuesta por jugadores de deportes individuales (tenis, atletismo y natación) y por jugadores de deportes colectivos (fútbol, baloncesto y balonmano) pertenecientes a distintos Clubes Deportivos de la Comunidad Valenciana. Para la evaluación de la ansiedad competitiva, se utilizó el Sport Competitive Anxiety Test (SCAT); para evaluar la personalidad resistente, se utilizó la escala EPR; para evaluar la competitividad, se utilizó la escala de Competitividad-10; y, para la evaluación de las lesiones, se utilizó una hoja de registro específica. El diseño del estudio fue descriptivo, observacional y correlacional. El estudio partió de la hipótesis que, en general, han adoptado los diferentes investigadores, planteándose el siguiente perfil de vulnerabilidad a la lesión: el número de lesiones aumentará cuando menor sea la personalidad resistente y la motivación orientada al éxito, y cuando mayor sea la ansiedad competitiva y la motivación orientada a evitar el fracaso. Se planteó como objetivo analizar las diferencias en el número de lesiones entre los deportistas que presentaban un perfil de vulnerabilidad a la lesión frente a los que no presentaban dicho perfil. Según la fundamentación teórica, situarse en dicho perfil implicaría lesionarse más, sin embargo, los resultados del estudio indican que los hombres con perfil de vulnerabilidad a la lesión (los que se lesionarían más) tuvieron menor número de lesiones moderadas, totales e índice de lesión. Las mujeres situadas en el perfil de vulnerabilidad tuvieron un menor número de lesiones moderadas, graves, muy graves, totales e índice de lesión, y los deportistas individuales con dicho perfil tuvieron menor frecuencia y gravedad de lesión. Por otra parte, los deportistas colectivos que se encontraban en el perfil de vulnerabilidad a la lesión tuvieron mayor número de lesiones graves. Puede ser una buena explicación que los deportistas que posean determinados rasgos puedan ser más propensos a lesionarse en mayor o menor gravedad.

Las lesiones deportivas son una constante en la actividad física y el deporte y representan, en mayor o menor grado, un obstáculo al que la mayor parte de los deportistas se tienen que enfrentar, pudiendo aquéllas tener consecuencias a nivel económico, laboral, educativo, además de a nivel físico y psicológico. Tradicionalmente, la lesión deportiva ha sido considerada como el resultado de la acción de fuerzas biomecánicas que ejercen sobre el cuerpo mientras se participa en una actividad deportiva. Esa perspectiva viene a considerar al deportista como un mero contendor de unas piezas que se han roto y deben ser reparadas. Al contrario, la Psicología del Deporte le concede al individuo un papel activo central tanto en el padecimiento de una lesión como en el proceso de recuperación de la misma. El presente artículo viene a promover una perspectiva psicológica de la lesión deportiva, revisando los principales modelos psicológicos que se han propuesto tanto para la fase de pre-lesión como para la fase de post-lesión. Finalmente, el artículo plantea los principales problemas de la investigación sobre lesiones deportivas y brinda una serie de líneas de actuación para llevar a cabo la investigación en este campo.

The purpose of this study was to assess the perceived social stress and its relation to sports injuries in tennis players. Sixty-three male tennis players, with a mean age of 31.62 years (SD = 8.93), Sports Clubs belonging to the Province of Alicante (Spain) completed instruments of psychosocial stress and injuries sustained during the previous year the assessment. The results indicate that life events experienced was related to some of the injuries suffered by players. Relationships were found between the degree of psychological stress experienced and the negative evaluation of this strain, the type (lesions on wrists, ankles and sprains), and severity of injuries (minor injuries).

El entrenamiento psicológico es una forma más del entrenamiento deportivo que, poco a poco, se ha insertado en el método de trabajo de muchos deportistas y equipos deportivos. Los objetivos del presente trabajo son presentar una forma de evaluación pre-post del trabajo psicológico, y determinar, mediante análisis estadístico, índices de mejora del funcionamiento psicológico. La muestra estuvo formada por 22 futbolistas pertenecientes a un club de fútbol profesional, con edades comprendidas entre los 14 y los 18 años que compiten en categoría juvenil y cadete. La intervención psicológica se realizó durante cinco meses, mediante un trabajo individualizado (voluntario) y un trabajo grupal (obligatorio). Los resultados indican que respecto a la mejora psicológica, ésta no se ha producido, al menos estadísticamente. Es más, en dos de los factores (Motivación y Cohesión de Equipo) las puntuaciones medias del grupo han descendido, por lo que se puede interpretar que se ha empeorado. Respecto a los otros tres factores (Control de Estrés, Influencia de la evaluación del rendimiento y Habilidad Mental), en los tres se produce un aumento en las puntuaciones medias, aunque no significativo

El entrenamiento psicológico es una forma más del entrenamiento deportivo que, poco a poco, se ha insertado en el método de trabajo de muchos deportistas y equipos deportivos. Se presenta la realización de un programa de entrenamiento psicológico con el objetivo de que los jugadores aprendieran técnicas y estrategias psicológicas y que las aplicaran para mejorar sus habilidades psicológicas, tanto en entrenamientos como en competición; además se pretendió conocer si se producían diferencias entre las puntuaciones en el CPRD tomadas al inicio de la intervención, y las tomadas al finalizar la misma. La muestra estuvo formada por 22 futbolistas pertenecientes a un club de fútbol profesional, con edades comprendidas entre los 14 y los 18 años que compiten en categoría juvenil y cadete. La intervención psicológica se realizó durante cinco meses, mediante un trabajo individualizado (voluntario) y un trabajo grupal (obligatorio). Los resultados indican que no hay diferencias significativas entre las puntuaciones iniciales y finales en los diferentes factores del CPRD.

La literatura científica indica que existe una relación positiva entre la realización de ejercicio físico y la mejora en diferentes aspectos psicológicos, como la ansiedad y la depresión. También algunas variables sociodemográficas parecen influir en esta relación y factores de tipo sociocultural pueden ser importantes. El presente estudio busca conocer la influencia de la práctica de actividad física sobre la ansiedad y la depresión, y determinar los perfiles de mayor riesgo en función de determinadas variables sociodemográficas (edad, nivel de estudios, ocupación e hijos). Participaron 200 mujeres del municipio de Cartagena, Murcia (España), con edades comprendidas entre 18 y 65 años. Los resultados muestran un perfil que caracteriza al grupo de mujeres más vulnerable a manifestar niveles mayores de ansiedad (mujer sedentaria, de entre 18 y 24 años o de más de 54, sin estudios o con estudios secundarios, estudiante, ama de casa o trabajadora por cuenta ajena, y sin hijos) y depresión (mujer sedentaria, de más de 54 años o entre 18 y 24, con estudios secundarios y ama de casa). Scientific literature indicates that there is a positive relationship between exercise and the improvement of several psychological aspects such as anxiety and depression. Some sociodemographic variables also seem to be involved in this relationship, and socio-cultural factors can be important. This study intended to find out the influence of practicing physical activity on anxiety and depression and to determine the profiles at greater risk with regard to certain sociodemographic variables (age, level of studies, occupation, and children). Participants were 200 women from the city of Cartagena, Spain, between 18 and 65 years of age. Results show that the most vulnerable groups of women for suffering greater levels of anxiety and depression are characterized by the following profiles: anxiety (sedentary women, between 18-24 years of age or older than 54 years, who have not completed studies or those with secondary studies, housewives or those who work outside the home, and those without children) and depression (sedentary women, older than 54 years of age or between 18-24 years, those with secondary studies, and housewives).

El objetivo de este estudio es describir los procesos de estado de ánimo de un equipo de fútbol profesional durante la competición, mediante la administración de tests específicos. Se ha evaluado mediante la versión corta española (15 items, Fuentes, García-Merita, Meliá y Balaguer, 1995) del Perfil de Estados de Ánimo (POMS, MacNair, Lorr and Droppelmann, 1971), un equipo de fútbol profesional de 2ª división B (Rayo Vallecano SAD, Madrid) antes de la disputa de los cuatro partidos de la fase de play off de ascenso a 2ª A al final de la temporada regular de la Liga Española de Fútbol Profesional 2006-07. Los resultados han mostrado la ausencia de diferencias significativas en los valores de las cinco escalas del POMS (Depresión, Vigor, Cólera, Fatiga y Tensión) recogidos antes de los cuatro partidos del play off, indicando la existencia de consistencia en los estados de ánimo del equipo durante la fase eliminatoria, y la ausencia de fluctuaciones significativas en los procesos de estado de ánimo a medio plazo. A pesar de esto, las representaciones gráficas de las medias del POMS muestran la existencia de tendencias hacia patrones distintos relacionados con las diversas escalas. Sugerimos que este método propuesto es útil para estudiar los procesos cognitivo-emocionales de los deportistas y de los equipos durante determinados tipos de competición, a la vez que asegura un nivel elevado de validez ecológica y provee información para efectuar intervenciones más efectivas y adaptadas a los equipos.

El presente trabajo muestra la intervención psicológica realizada con una portera de balonmano que militaba en la primera división nacional, cuyo rendimiento disminuyó tras recibir un lanzamiento que impactó en su globo ocular izquierdo durante un entrenamiento. Este accidente deportivo desencadenó consecuencias psicológicas para la deportista tales como ansiedad, miedo ante los lanzamientos, dispersión de la atención, pensamientos negativos y un bajo nivel de motivación. El entrenamiento psicológico realizado tuvo como objetivo el dominio, por parte de la deportista, de una serie de técnicas psicológicas (establecimiento de objetivos, detección de situaciones problemáticas, detención de pensamientos, matriz de decisiones, etc.) que le ayudaran a afrontar los lanzamientos a corta distancia de forma eficaz en los entrenamientos y competiciones.

El objetivo de este estudio es analizar la influencia de diversos factores psicológicos, considerados importantes para explicar el riesgo de que los futbolistas profesionales y semiprofesionales padezcan lesiones, en su práctica deportiva. Doscientos setenta y ocho futbolistas fueron objeto del estudio. Se utilizó un cuestionario para evaluar los factores psicológicos y otro que recogía los datos relativos a las lesiones que habían sufrido los futbolistas en los últimos tres años. Los resultados indican que la concentración es una variable que discrimina significativamente entre los futbolistas lesionados y no lesionados. Dentro del grupo de futbolistas lesionados, la evaluación de la ejecución deportiva muestra una relación significativa con las lesiones de carácter muy grave, así como tendencias a la significación estadística entre las variables autoconfianza y ansiedad con el número total de lesiones.

Es un verdadero placer y orgullo el poder presentar una nueva sección de la Revista de Psicología del Deporte. La nueva etapa de RPD desde que fue incluida en la base de datosISI-Thomson, en el mes de mayo de 2008, está suponiendo un gran esfuerzo tanto desde el punto de vista de los recursos humanos, como desde la planificación y gestión para que elnivel de calidad de la revista cada día sea mayor. En esta tesitura, y como se habrá podido comprobar en el nuevo formato de página web de la revista, el consejo editorial ha llevado a cabo algunas transformaciones que pensamos serán de gran ayuda, tanto a los lectores como a los autores, para seguir teniendo en la RPD una fuente fiable y rápida de la transmisión de conocimiento científico, en un área, la psicología del deporte, que no es mayoritaria en el amplio espectro de la psicología.La nueva sección se encargará de arbitrar un espacio para ser vehículo y fuente de información de aspectos que, a veces, tienen difícil acceso a la revista por los medios ordinarios. Así, la sección de Monográficos permitirá contar con un espacio en el que, en un solo número, se podrá obtener información desde diferentes perspectivas sobre un mismo tema genérico, o específico del estado actual de la psicología del deporte. Esta sección pensamos será muy valorada por los lectores, ya que podrán disfrutar de una cantidad de información muy importante en un mismo contenido; así como por aquellos investigadores que, a través de sus grupos de investigación, o de las redes de investigación a las que pertenezcan, dispondrán de una plataforma donde poder presentar sus trabajos en el ámbito de una misma línea de investigación.La sección Suplementos se centrará en la publicación de los trabajos seleccionados, revisados y aceptados, de diferentes reuniones científicas, como congresos, jornadas o simposios, que reúnan los criterios de calidad y rigor preceptivos. De esta manera, aquellas reuniones científicas que supongan un gran interés en el desarrollo de la investigación o de la aplicación en nuestra área, podrán tener un marco de gran visibilidad en esta sección. En esta primera oportunidad, la sección suplementos ofrece a sus lectores los trabajos seleccionados del V Congreso Ibérico de Baloncesto “Ciencia y práctica, una relación de futuro”, celebrado los días 29, 30 y 31 de octubre de 2009 en la ciudad de Cartagena (Murcia –España). El proceso de selección de los trabajos ha obedecido a criterios únicamente de rigor, calidad e interés científico, en el que se han establecido dos filtros: a) el primero del Comité Científico del CIB, que ha enviado los trabajos presentados a 4 revisores expertos del CC, siendosus perfiles profesionales complementarios, no dominando un objeto de estudio u área de conocimiento sobre otra; b) el segundo, del Consejo Editorial de la RPD, para asegurar que los contenidos de los trabajos no difieran mucho de la línea editorial de la revista, y que se han preservado los mínimos exigidos en cuanto a rigor metodológico y calidad expositiva.Por lo tanto, reiteramos nuestra satisfacción en poder ofrecer a nuestros lectores el primero de estos suplementos, que esperamos sea recibido con interés, y que la lectura de lostrabajos sea de provecho en las actividades de investigación y aplicación.

This study assesses how the application of an intervention programme involving the use of video improves basketball players' real perception of their actions when competing and boosts their performance levels. A three-month intervention programme was designed and applied that consisted of watching videos of games in which the degree of efficacy of each player's proposed objectives were evaluated. The following were recorded for four months before the intervention programme was applied and during its development: a) the outcome of each player's individual objectives and minutes played; b) the subjective perception of the outcome of these objectives and minutes played; and c) the difference between what actually took place and what was perceived, as well as between the minutes played and minutes perceived to ave been played. The results indicate an improvement in the players' real perception of their actions in games after the ntervention programme; in terms of efficacy, the percentage of positive actions rose and the percentage of negative actions fell. These data indicate that watching videos of actions in games improves players' perception of reality, which leads to a better grasp of negative and positive actions, a key aspect of intervening in practice sessions. This, in turn, boosts both individual and collective performance.
