Places play a crucial role in the formation of both individual and collective identities. This article seeks to specify how a collective identity is constructed and sustained on the basis of the emotional bonds that the members of the group grow to the place. Drawing on the basic tenets of symbolic interactionism, the article argues that in order to function as the foundation of a group identity, a place needs to be perceived as a meaningful object of particular value. Furthermore, the article argues that the meaningfulness of the place occurs through the articulation of a narrative of uniqueness, that, drawing on the bulk of shared place-related life experiences, celebrates the special character of the place in question and shores up its unique meaning and value. Simple Summary: Chemoimmunotherapy (CT-IO) is the standard first-line treatment of advanced small cell lung cancer (SCLC). However, very limited efficacy data from real-life use of this combination are available. Moreover, patients included in pivotal phase III trials were highly selected. We conducted a retrospective multicentric (six academic centers) case–control study (n = 153), comparing two cohorts of patients who received first-line treatment, one treated with chemotherapy alone (between January 2017 and December 2018) and one with CT-IO (between January 2019 and December 2020), for an advanced SCLC. CT-IO confirmed its superiority compared to chemo alone. Interestingly, we showed that CT-IO was efficient in patients with brain and liver metastases. However, patients ≥70 years old and with a PS ≥2 did not benefit from CT-IO. This real-life study in one of the largest published to our knowledge on first-line CT-IO for advanced SCLC, with a large focus on specific populations (brain mets, elderly, and impaired PS). The current first-line standard treatment for advanced small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. However, few efficacy data are available in a real-life settings, including frail patients. The aim of this study is to describe the real-life efficacy of chemoimmunotherapy in an unselected SCLC population. We conducted a retrospective multicenter study, which compared two cohorts of patients with treatment-naive metastatic SCLC treated in six academic centers in the Greater Paris area. Cohort 1 included patients treated with chemotherapy between January 2017 and December 2018, and cohort 2 included patients treated with chemoimmunotherapy between January 2019 and December 2020. A total of 153 consecutive patients were included (cohort 1: n = 96; cohort 2: n = 57). Clinical characteristics were similar between the two cohorts. Overall survival (OS) was statistically higher in cohort 2 (median survival 15.47 months) than in cohort 1 (median survival 9.5 months) (p = 0.0001). OS for patients with a performance status ≥2 and for patients ≥70 years old was not statistically different between the two cohorts. Chemoimmunotherapy efficacy was better compared to chemotherapy alone in case of brain or liver metastases. In conclusion, the combination of chemoimmunotherapy in metastatic SCLC appears to provide a real-life OS benefit. Summary: Complementary tools are warranted to increase the sensitivity of the initial testing for COVID‐19. We identified a specific 'sandglass' aspect on the white blood cell scattergram of COVID‐19 patients reflecting the presence of circulating plasmacytoid lymphocytes. Patients were dichotomized as COVID‐19‐positive or ‐negative based on reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) and chest computed tomography (CT) scan results. Sensitivity and specificity of the 'sandglass' aspect were 85·9% and 83·5% respectively. The positive predictive value was 94·3%. Our findings provide a non‐invasive and simple tool to quickly categorize symptomatic patients as either COVID‐19‐probable or ‐improbable especially when RT‐PCR and/or chest CT are not rapidly available. Elaborating on the concept of embeddedness, this article proposes the notion of relational habitat, which denotes the relatively durable constellation of ongoing, specialized relations developed and sustained by a firm. This constellation is basically a protective social device, which by sufficiently stabilizing and simplifying the immediate operational environment of the embedded firm considerably relaxes the constraints imposed on its action capacity. The core argument is that by expanding the control of the firm beyond its organizational borders, the relational habitat enhances the ability of the firm to successfully pursue the adopted business plans and secure the intended outcomes. The notion is proposed to provide the analytical specification needed for understanding firm behavior as an emergent outcome of the enabling as well as constraining relational context that embeds the firm. Abstract: The present article takes as its point of departure Perri's view, according to whom the impact of personality traits such as psychopathy and narcissism has unduly been omitted in research on white collar criminality. However, this article argues that although such factors have an important role to play in some cases when white collar criminals turn violent in order to prevent the detection of their felonies, they constitute neither the necessary nor the sufficient conditions for white collar criminals to commit murders. This means on the one hand that, although potentially increasing the risk for violence, these traits are not by themselves sufficient as the triggers of violent acts and can function so only under certain social‐contextual circumstances. However, such personality traits are not by themselves necessary, as there can be empirical cases of fraud detection murder committed by white collar criminals lacking them. This position is supported by both a logical analysis of Perri's main arguments and by empirical evidence, consisting of a few real‐life cases of Scandinavian white collar criminals who have “turned red.” [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Researchers in heat transfer field always attempt to find new solutions to optimize the performance of energy devices through heat transfer enhancement. Among various methods which are implemented to reinforce the thermal performance of energy systems, one is the dispersion of solid nanoparticles in common working fluids such as water. The suspension is called nanofluid. On the other hand, utilizing porous media in heat exchangers is another technique to augment of thermal efficiency. Porous media by providing high surface area contact will ameliorate heat transfer rate in ducts. In the present work, a comprehensive review is conducted on the simultaneous application of nanofluids and porous media for heat transfer enhancement purposes in thermal systems with different structures, flow regimes, and boundary conditions. The article focuses on inter-firm relations, primarily seen as protective devises crafted for keeping at an arm's length various kinds of uncertainties involved in boundary transactions. Taking a holistic view, it proposes the notion ofrelational habitat, which refers to the relatively durable constellation of relations that connect a given firm to its main business partners. Performing a double-edged protective function, this constellation both stabilizes and simplifies the immediate operational domain of the firm and, thereby, diminishes to manageable levels the complexity of the relevant parts of the environment. By expanding the control of the firm beyond its organizational borders, relational habitat reduces the constraining impact of boundary uncertainty and enhances the action capacity of the firm – facilitating the materialization of its chosen line of action and its desired objectives. Focusing on production markets, the article provides a detailed description of the particular conditions that turn rational imitation the most feasible strategy for reducing the uncertainties that firms face when making business decisions. On the basis of this description several features are identified, which in a unique combination induced by the particularities of the production process characterize the imitative behavior of producer firms. First, the existence of a substantial niche overlap is crucial for any individual firm to identify the most relevant significant others to be imitated. Second, rational imitation is a dual process in that the functional similarity that provides the firms in a single market with a ground for imitation also underpins their attempts at individuation through product differentiation. Finally, in its pursuit to stay in the market, any individual firm continuously needs to fit its choices into those of its peers-requiring the firm not only to monitor the business decisions the other firms actually make, but also assuming the choices they are most likely to make. This article investigates how a plastic manufacturing firm handles the challenging task of comparing and choosing among the feasible alternative modes of structuring the flow of repeated transaction with one of its key suppliers. Qualitative interviews are used to explore the perceptions of the management of the firm concerning the advantages and disadvantages associated with each alternative, and the main findings suggest that the selection of the transaction structure intended to reduce boundary uncertainty is itself an uncertain choice. Since many of the gains and drawbacks of the alternatives are unknown and even unknowable in advance, the firm is unable to set up a conclusive comparative assessment to underpin its choice. Using Swedish entrepreneurs' own explanations, this article searches for the possible regularities in the accounts offered by white collar offenders and for the underlying factors that produce these regularities, tracing in particular the impact of these offenders' attitudes toward regulation and taxation as well as their perceptions of the functioning of the market in which they operate. The results show that justifications are more common among offenders who have a clearly negative view on both factors. Excuses, on the other hand, are more frequently used by those who hold a positive attitude toward taxation and regulation. The results also show that offenders who offer excuses tend to share the same negative perception of the market as the “justifiers.” This unanticipated finding suggests that the “excusers” commit their offenses because they believe that the unlawful behaviors of the relevant others disturb the functioning of the market mechanism and thereby push them toward criminality. Paradoxically, the contemporary network approach has so far declined to produce a theoretically elaborate account of social relationships — the very core entities that underpin both its ontological outlook and methodological stance. This article addresses certain substantive aspects of social connectivity that are either theoretically underdeveloped or largely neglected in this approach. These include: (1) the essential and defining properties of relationships; (2) their inherent dynamics; (3) the impact of larger socio-cultural contexts in which specific ties and networks emerge; and, finally, (4) various grounds of connectivity and general types of social ties. The article concludes with a discussion of how the prevailing formalistic conception of social tie poses an obstacle to the materialization of the great potentials of the network approach and how a substantive re-conceptualization of its bedrock entity may open up the possibility of turning this mode of inquiry into a truly relational approach. Outpatient treatment (OT) of patients with low-risk pulmonary embolisms (PE) is recommended. A multidisciplinary OT program including the general practitioner (GP) has been implemented at Versailles hospital in 2019. The objectives of the study were to assess the feasibility, safety and acceptability of the program. The feasibility of, and the inclusion criteria for OT were defined from a retrospective cohort study of PE patients carried out in 2018. In the prospective study, consecutive patients consulting in the emergency department between 2019 and 2021 with confirmed PE were eligible for OT if they had sPESI and HESTIA scores equal to 0, normal troponin and NT-pro-BNP levels, and no right ventricular dilation on imaging. PEs associated with COVID were excluded. The OT program included 4 appointments within 3 months, including 2 with the GP. Events (death, recurrence of PE or venous thromboembolism, bleeding, rehospitalisation) were collected at 3-month follow-up. In the retrospective study, 19% of the 138 PE patients seen in the emergency department were eligible for OT. No complication occurred at Day 90. In the prospective study, 313 consecutive patients with confirmed PE in the emergency department were included, 66 (21%) were eligible for OT. Overall, 43 patients (14%) received OT (39 eligible) and 27 patients eligible for OT were hospitalised (92% because of pulmonary infarction). At 3-month follow-up, there were no death, no recurrence of thromboembolism, and one patient has been early hospitalised for COVID; 3 female patients treated with rivaroxaban had minor bleeding (heavy menstrual bleeding). The satisfaction rate of general practitioner was 95%. This study confirms the feasibility and safety of our OT program for low-risk EP patients, centered on the general practitioner. The aim of present work is to prepare a standard pilot of trough collector to investigate the ways of its performance enhancement. In this paper, a pilot of trough collector was designed and manufactured in a simple way with a 0.7 m width and 2 m in height reflector, which was made of steel mirror. The design, construction procedure and the new shape of receiver coupling are defined by details in the manuscript. The transient response and the optical and thermal performances of the collector were compared using four kinds of receivers: a black painted vacuumed steel tube, a copper bare tube with black chrome coating, a glass enveloped non-evacuated copper tube with black chrome coating, and a vacuumed copper tube with black chrome coating. Then 0.2% and 0.3% carbon nanotube/oil based nanofluids were prepared as working fluid and tested in the pilot with the black chrome coated vacuumed copper absorber tube. All the operating conditions were considered according to ASHRAE Standard 93 (2010) in all steps of test procedure. The results show that the global efficiency of vacuumed tube is averagely 11% higher than the bare tube efficiency, which is in good agreement with the previous works. Also, the nanofluid shows high thermal potential for further and more complete examinations. The anti-tumour and anti-metastatic properties of heparins have not been tested in patients with early stage cancer. Whether adjuvant low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) tinzaparin impacts the survival of patients with resected non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was investigated.Patients with completely resected stage I, II or IIIA NSCLC were randomly allocated to receive subcutaneous tinzaparin 100 IU·kg -1 once a day for 12 weeks or no treatment in addition to standard of care. The trial was open-label with blinded central adjudication of study outcomes. The primary outcome was overall survival.In 549 patients randomised to tinzaparin (n=269) or control (n=280), mean±sd age was 61.6±8.9 years, 190 (34.6%) patients had stage II-III disease, and 220 (40.1%) patients received adjuvant chemotherapy. Median follow-up was 5.7 years. There was no significant difference in overall survival between groups (hazard ratio (HR) 1.24, 95% CI 0.92-1.68; p=0.17). There was no difference in the cumulative incidence of recurrence between groups (subdistribution HR 0.94, 95% CI 0.68-1.30; p=0.70).Adjuvant tinzaparin had no detectable impact on overall and recurrence-free survival of patients with completely resected stage I-IIIA NSCLC.
