Santos [...], Compared with the heterosexual population, the prevalence of mental health outcomes such as suicidality (suicidal ideation, suicide plans, and suicide attempts) is higher among sexual minority youth, particularly those who identify themselves as bisexuals. Bisexuals are at an even elevated risk within the LGB populations due to biphobia, monosexism, bisexual invisibility or erasure, and lack of support resources. These experiences may bring about issues regarding concealment of their sexual orientation linked to suicidality. Studies have also identified that parental support is a protective factor against suicidality among the youth, particularly their sexual orientation. The present study used a cross-sectional, predictive research design to examine parental sexual orientation support and concealment and their associations and predictive abilities in the suicidality of 151 Filipino bisexual youths aged 18-24 years old. The participants were recruited online within six months, from July 2021 to December 2021. As measured by the Parental Support for Sexual Orientation Scale, Sexual Orientation Concealment Scale, and Suicide Behaviors Questionnaire-Revised, results showed that among our bisexual participants, parental sexual orientation support and concealment did not have a significant relationship with and could not predict their risk for suicidality. Limitations and suggestions for further research were discussed, considering our findings.

The current work focused on how the learning environment of college students influenced their academic motivation, choice of learning strategies, and level of engagement in the classroom. The study is important because these variables are known to contribute to student achievement and success. Using a cross-sectional predictive design, a total of 1002 college students participated in the research by answering four standardized scales (college and university classroom environment inventory, academic motivation scale, motivated strategies for learning questionnaire and student course engagement questionnaire). The learning environment was positively related to college students' academic motivation [F (9,1001) = 14.645, R[superscript 2] = 0.117, p < 0.05], [F (9,1001) = 21.202, R[superscript 2] = 0.161, p < 0.05], the choice of learning strategies [F (9,1001) = 11.268, R[superscript 2] = 0.093, p < 0.05], [F (9,1001) = 21.738, R[superscript 2] = 0.165, p < 0.05] and the level of student engagement [F (9,1001) = 17.350, R[superscript 2] = 0.136, p < 0.05].

Sanchez [sup.1] , John [...], To understand how the use of social networking sites, depressive symptoms, and NSSI are related, we conducted cross-sectional predictive research involving 214 adolescents selected via purposive sampling. The result shows that these variables are significantly associated with each other. Two regression models were also tested using the stepwise forward technique where model 1 suggests that social networking use is a significant factor in the incidence of NSSI and that these incidents are significantly higher when the use of social networking sites and depressive symptoms are combined (model 2).

The World Health Organization (World Health Organization, 2020) announced the COVID‐19 outbreak as a pandemic. Globally, this situation affects people in various domains including mental health. Existing theories and research findings suggest justice beliefs are associated with mental health and may help to cope with adverse life circumstances. Participants (N = 3694) in 15 Asian nations completed measures of belief in a just world (BJW), Karma, system justification, well‐being indices and COVID‐19 impact. The results show that BJW for the self and system justification positively predicted well‐being while BJW for others provided reverse associations. Furthermore, Karma predicted both higher life satisfaction and depression. However, COVID‐19 impact did not moderate the relationships between justice beliefs and well‐being. The results provide various psychological functions but do not consistently indicate the buffering role of justice beliefs during COVID‐19 pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
