In this study, three levels of grape load (15, 20, and 25 spikes/m shelf) were set for the primary wine grape cultivar ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’. The effect of different harvest times, four growth stages according to the Eichhorn-Lorenz scale: E-L35, E-L36, E-L37, and E-L38 was investigated on the compositions of organic acids, monomeric phenols and volatile compounds and sensory quality of wine. The results showed that at the E-L38 stage, the total acid of grape berries in the medium-load group significantly increased, while the opposite was true for the low- and high-load groups. For all groups, the total acid content of wine peaked at the E-L35 stage and reached its lowest point at the E-L37 stage. The total phenol content reached its peak at the E-L36 stage, and then decreased rapidly. Under the low-load condition, the sensory quality of wine produced from early harvested grapes was superior to that of late harvested grapes, whereas the opposite result was found at the high load. The typicality and richness of wine were significantly improved with the delay of harvest time, samples J-20-6 (medium load + E-L37) and J-20-7 (medium load + E-L38) outperforming all other samples. The overall sensory score of sample J-20-5 (medium load + E-L36) was the highest, and the total volatile content and sensory richness score of sample J-25-7 (high load + E-L38) were the highest among all tested samples. Thus, meticulous regulation of grape load and harvest time holds substantial promise for enhancing wine quality.

The skin, as the body’s largest organ, is vital for protecting against environmental stressors, regulating temperature, and preventing water loss. Here, we examined the potential of a mixture of five traditional Korean herbal extracts—Cimicifuga racemosa, Paeonia lactiflora, Phellodendron amurense, Rheum rhaponticum, and Scutellaria baicalensis—referred to as herbal medicine composite 5 (HRMC5) for enhancing skin health and managing menopausal symptoms. High-performance liquid chromatography identified 14 bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, phenolic acids, anthraquinones, and alkaloids. In vitro studies revealed an optimal concentration of 0.625 g/L for cell survival and UV protection, with the mixture demonstrating significant wound-healing properties comparable to epidermal growth factor. HRMC5 exhibited anti-inflammatory effects by downregulating COX2 expression and upregulating the key skin barrier proteins. A 4-week clinical trial involving 20 postmenopausal women showed significant improvements in skin redness, hemoglobin concentration, and skin moisture content. Visual analog scale assessments indicated substantial reductions in facial flushing severity and the associated sweating. The topical application of HRMC5 cream offered potential advantages over ingested phytoestrogens by reducing the systemic side effects. These findings suggest that HRMC5 is a promising non-invasive treatment for vasomotor symptoms in menopausal women and overall skin health, warranting further research on its long-term efficacy and safety in larger populations.

This study proposed a robot-assisted digital storytelling approach to reduce hospitalized children's anxiety about intravenous injections and to improve their therapeutic communication and therapeutic engagement. In order to verify the effectiveness of the robot-assisted digital storytelling approach, a randomized controlled study was implemented. A total of 47 children from a regional hospital were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 21) and a control group (n = 26). The experimental group adopted the robot-assisted digital storytelling approach in health education for intravenous injections, while the control group received video-based health education. The study results indicated that the proposed robot-assisted digital storytelling approach not only reduced the children's anxiety, but also had positive effects on children's communication about intravenous injections, emotions during hospitalization, and therapeutic engagement. As a consequence, it is suggested that educators and researchers consider adopting robot-assisted digital storytelling to facilitate nursing clinical health education for children.

The study employed epistemic network analysis (ENA) to investigate students' conceptions of science learning with technology. One-hundred and eleven tenth-grade students were asked to express via drawings their conceptions of experienced and ideal learning of science with technology. Their drawings were coded into 20 elements in seven categories. ENA was then employed to generate and compare network models that show structures of the students' conceptions. The results suggest that the students' conceptions are diverse and connected. It was found that (1) the students' conceptions of experienced and ideal learning of science with technology were significantly different, (2) the students who emphasized understanding as the main goal of science learning were better able to envision ideal learning of science with technology in light of how innovative technology can be used to enhance learning experiences, (3) the students who emphasized testing showed conceptions of science learning with technology limited to inside classrooms, and (4) the students who emphasized both understanding and testing demonstrated a pragmatic view of science learning and paid more attention to the affordances and effects of technology. Implications include that the potential of technology has yet to be fully taken advantage of to support science learning and that specific learning experiences may be tailored for students to address or broaden their conceptions of learning. The study may contribute to research by introducing new analysis methods of combining ENA with drawings and to theory and practice by revisiting theoretical frameworks of learning environments based on understanding of students' conceptions.
