In recent years, numerous innovative approaches have emerged to enhance the corrosion resistance of materials. This study investigates the effect of enhancing mild steel corrosion through the incorporation of unzipped multiwalled carbon nanotube oxides (UMCNO) into epoxy resin. Additionally, the effect of various operating parameters, such as temperature, UMCNO concentration, salt concentration, duration of exposure, and coating thickness, have also been considered in the study. The Box–Behnken method was used for experimental design and correlation of corrosion rate with various operating parameters, followed by analysis of variance of both five‐ and three‐parameter models. Notably, despite variations in temperature and salt concentration, the corrosion rate remained negligible, confirming its suitability in various marine conditions. Furthermore, it was observed that the corrosion rate of mild steel coated with epoxy decreased with the addition of UMCNO. A corrosion rate of 0.182 mpy was observed for epoxy resin incorporated with 0.5 % UMCNO over a 14‐day period, which is lower compared to other conditions. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization analysis showed higher corrosion‐resistant properties in epoxy coating incorporated with UMCNO. In addition, it was evident from the contact angle measurement that the corrosion rate of mild steel was highly dependent on the concentration of UMCNO. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Open‐cell phenol (P) formaldehyde (F) foams are used for various applications such as hydroponic seed germination, flower arrangements, and sound insulation. This study investigated the influence of various parameters such as F/P molar ratios, blowing agents, surfactants, wetting agents, polymeric and inorganic additives, and oxidizing agents on the hydrophilicity of PF foams. Experimental results indicate that an F/P ratio of 1.8 was ideal for producing phenolic foams with good foam structure, uniform pore distribution, and favorable mechanical properties. A mixture of pentane and hexane at a mass ratio of 1:3 (wt/wt) used as a blowing agent resulted in a foam with the lowest density. With the optimal foaming catalyst (p‐toluene sulfonic acid) at a loading of 28 wt%, the foam exhibited a low density and excellent mechanical properties. A phenolic foam with a low density (39.27 kg/m3), high water absorption capacity (1210 wt%) and high open cell content (78.94%), was achieved by combining 6 wt% Tween‐80 as the surfactant and 3 wt% sodium dodecyl sulfate as the wetting agent. Additionally, 6.5 wt% loading of H2O2 led to a slight decrease in the foam density (38.46 kg/m3), but with a remarkable improvement in the wetting characteristics (water absorption capacity—2404 wt% and nearly 100% open cell content of the produced foam. A surge of research into renewable foams has yielded an array of high‐performance polymeric materials, many of which exhibit promising properties for next generation thermal insulating materials. Biobased materials are of particular interest, due to growing concerns towards enhancing the circular economy while reducing fossil fuel dependency in the construction industry. This review outlines recent developments in biobased foams based on biobased polyurethanes (BPU), biobased phenol formaldehyde (BPF) and cellulose nanofibers (CNF) foams. These three areas of polymers are of particular interest due to their early stage of market adoption, yet significant industrial potential. As our focus is on construction materials, we will review their thermal, mechanical, and fire‐retardant performance, their synthesis/fabrication methods and future prospects. Vapor trails or contrails, which are emitted by the exhaust of aircraft engines, act as a radiating force affecting the earth's radiation balance. These contrails in some cases form cirrus coverage, which cannot be differentiated from the natural cirrus clouds, which are atmospheric clouds, distinguished by their thin and wispy strand-like appearance. Contrails contain traces of black carbon soot, sulphates, nitrogen oxides and to a lesser extent of metallic particles. Studies have found that vapor trails or contrails trap the outgoing radiation emitted by the earth's surface and atmosphere at a very high rate and they throw back the incoming solar radiation. The environmental effects and thermodynamic parameters of the aviation contrails on the Earth's atmosphere were studied.
