This research provides the first assessment of the leachate impact on water sources near the newly installed Landfill and Recovery Center (LRC) in Tangier, Morocco, which has been operational since the beginning of 2021. The investigation involved the analysis of microbiological and chemical parameters in water samples from four community wells and five surface water sources in the M'harar and Tahaddart Wadis during the dry season. Chemical analysis focused on detecting heavy metals, which were quantified using Atomic Absorption Spectrometry. Microbiological analysis involved assessing the presence of Fecal Indicator Bacteria utilizing the membrane filtration method. The findings reveal alarmingly high levels of fecal bacteria and distinct spatial water quality patterns, with a notable gradient of bacteriological contamination in groundwater sources surrounding the LRC. The highest concentrations were noted at well P.1, located about 3.6 meters from the LRC, while at well P.4, located 1 km away, there is a regression in bacterial and metal concentration, suggesting leachate percolation, likely due to construction faults and inadequate waste management. The heavy metal concentrations remained below the World Health Organization's maximum acceptable values. Nevertheless, the overall results of the M'harar and Tahaddart Wadis waters show no leachate runoff. The study highlights the urgent need to improve the installation of proper leachate collection tanks and treatment systems as well as robust environmental monitoring, to protect the ecological integrity of the Biological and Ecological Interest Site (SIBE) of the Tahaddart region and safeguard public health. This study is limited by its focus on a specific geographic area and the timing of sampling, which restricted the groundwater analysis to only four wells. Future research should include sampling across different seasons and a broader range of wells to provide a more comprehensive understanding of water quality dynamics.

This article presents a compact dual-band Bandpass Filter(BPF) based substrate integrated waveguide(SIW) used for C and X band applications. Complementary split-ring resonators(CSRR) are loaded into the waveguide surface to obtain more advantages of compactness and good performance. The SIW cavity undergoes initial optimization utilizing the powerful genetic algorithm, renowned for its robustness in solving complex problems, before proceeding to simulation with Ansys HFSS software with loaded CSRRs. The filter displays two passbands: the first has a bandwidth of 2 GHz and resonates at 6.8 GHz, while the second has a bandwidth of 5,55 GHz and resonates at 10.3 GHz. Moreover, with two resonance frequencies, the developed BPF has the benefit of low insertion loss(S21=-1.7dB and -1.9 dB) and improved return loss: (S11=-24dB and -22 dB) respectively. Furthermore, the proposed combination not only allows the implementation of a forward-wave passband propagating below the characteristic cutoff frequency of the waveguide but also exhibits good rejection, demonstrated by the presence of two transmission zeros with rejection of -16 dB and -19 dB, attained at 7.4 GHz and 14.8 GHz respectively. The proposed SIW BPF was designed using a 0.6mm thick FR4 dielectric substrate measuring 13mm × 15mm. The filter is manufactured to validate the concept and the measured results agree well with the simulation. With all these advantages: compact size, high rejection, and good filtering response, the proposed SIW BPF became suitable for microwave applications.

Workflow Management Systems are rapidly evolving and increasingly used in a variety of industries, allowing organizations to automate and enhance their business processes. Hence, they are open to collaboration throw inter-organizational workflows to achieve common objectives. Thus, organizations could thereby adapt to highly dynamic environments and abrupt sudden changes like during epidemics. One of the particular interests for security researchers is to ensure workflow resiliency, which means ensuring the completion of the workflow execution given a defined set of security constraints without violating the security policy. However, the rigid application of security constraints restricts some task-organization assignments, which leads to the workflow satisfiability problem. Moreover, a wise selection of collaborating organizations is very important for secure resilient inter-organizational workflow execution. Therefore, we aim in this paper to propose a resilient inter-organizational workflow assignment plan selection approach to select a valid task-organization plan that allows a resilient inter-organizational workflow complete execution. Our proposed approach, uses the task priority concept, Bayesian inference, and a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making approach based on the methods Analytical Hierarchical Process and Grey Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution. As a result, the proposed approach selects the best assignment plan for a resilient execution of the Inter-Organizational Workflow, in addition to delegates for each task-organization assignment if available.

Summary: Cell cycle progression is regulated by the orderly balance between kinase and phosphatase activities. PP2A phosphatase holoenzymes containing the B55 family of regulatory B subunits function as major CDK1-counteracting phosphatases during mitotic exit in mammals. However, the identification of the specific mitotic roles of these PP2A-B55 complexes has been hindered by the existence of multiple B55 isoforms. Here, through the generation of loss-of-function genetic mouse models for the two ubiquitous B55 isoforms (B55α and B55δ), we report that PP2A-B55α and PP2A-B55δ complexes display overlapping roles in controlling the dynamics of proper chromosome individualization and clustering during mitosis. In the absence of PP2A-B55 activity, mitotic cells display increased chromosome individualization in the presence of enhanced phosphorylation and perichromosomal loading of Ki-67. These data provide experimental evidence for a regulatory mechanism by which the balance between kinase and PP2A-B55 phosphatase activity controls the Ki-67-mediated spatial organization of the mass of chromosomes during mitosis.

The aim of this paper is to introduce the notions of power boundedness, Cesàro boundedness, mean ergodicity, and uniform ergodicity for a family of bounded linear operators on a Banach space. The authors present some elementary results in this setting and show that some main results about power bounded, Cesàro bounded, mean ergodic, and the uniform ergodic operator can be extended from the case of a linear bounded operator to the case of a family of bounded linear operators acting on a Banach space. Also, we show that the Yosida theorem can be extended from the case of a bounded linear operator to the case of a family of bounded linear operators acting on a Banach space.

Abstract Background RASopathies are associated with an increased risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). For neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) there is ample evidence for this increased risk, while for other RASopathies this association has been studied less. No specific ASD profile has been delineated so far for RASopathies or a specific RASopathy individually. Methods We conducted a systematic review to investigate whether a specific RASopathy is associated with a specific ASD profile, or if RASopathies altogether have a distinct ASD profile compared to idiopathic ASD (iASD). We searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Open Grey for data about ASD features in RASopathies and potential modifiers. Results We included 41 articles on ASD features in NF1, Noonan syndrome (NS), Costello syndrome (CS), and cardio‐facio‐cutaneous syndrome (CFC). Individuals with NF1, NS, CS, and CFC on average have higher ASD symptomatology than healthy controls and unaffected siblings, though less than people with iASD. There is insufficient evidence for a distinct ASD phenotype in RASopathies compared to iASD or when RASopathies are compared with each other. We identified several potentially modifying factors of ASD symptoms in RASopathies. Conclusions Our systematic review found no convincing evidence for a specific ASD profile in RASopathies compared to iASD, or in a specific RASopathy compared to other RASopathies. However, we identified important limitations in the research literature which may also account for this result. These limitations are discussed and recommendations for future research are formulated.

Ante la falta de recurso a modalidades modernas de transacciones, el problema principal del producto solidario radica en el mercado, donde se suman, entre otras cosas, la hegemonía de las grandes empresas, la competencia de empresas experimentadas y los rigurosos requisitos para obtener autorizaciones. A pesar de los múltiples esfuerzos realizados para valorizar dicho producto, el problema persiste. El mercado solidario figura entre las alternativas de mitigación implementadas por las autoridades públicas, lo que ha permitido apoyar a algunas cooperativas, pero sin respaldar a la mayoría, especialmente aquellas que no cuentan con las certificaciones necesarias. Tal exclusión insta a buscar nuevas funciones que puedan satisfacer a un gran número de cooperativas activas y, por ende, a una gran cantidad de población necesitada dispersa en general en el mundo rural. Esto es lo que nos proponemos descubrir a través de una investigación que constituye el fondo del presente artículo. Para ello, adoptamos un enfoque exploratorio impuesto por la constatación de que la literatura aún era virgen en cuanto a los zocos solidarios. Partiendo de una sección preliminar de contextualización, seguida de una presentación del zoco solidario de Larache y de sus cooperativas, campo de nuestra investigación, justificación de la elección del instrumento de investigación, aterrizamos en una sección final de análisis/discusión de los resultados, formulación de síntesis/conclusiones para abrir sugerencias de soluciones que esperamos contribuyan a mejorar las condiciones de vida de las poblaciones desfavorecidas.

In recent years, smart contract technology has garnered significant attention due to its ability to address trust issues that traditional technologies have long struggled with. However, like any evolving technology, smart contracts are not immune to vulnerabilities, and some remain underexplored, often eluding detection by existing vulnerability assessment tools. In this article, we have performed a systematic literature review of all the scientific research and papers conducted between 2016 and 2021. The main objective of this work is to identify what vulnerabilities and smart contract technologies have not been well studied. In addition, we list all the datasets used by previous researchers that can help researchers in building more efficient machine-learning models in the future. In addition, comparisons are drawn among the smart contract analysis tools by considering various features. Finally, various future directions are also discussed in the field of smart contracts that can help researchers to set the direction for future research in this domain.

Crop-to-wild gene flow is a mechanism process widely documented, both in plants and animals. This can have positive or negative impacts on the evolution of admixed populations in natural environments, yet the phenomenon is still misunderstood in long-lived woody species, contrary to short-lived crops. Wild olive Olea europaea L. occurs in the same eco-geographical range as domesticated olive, i.e. the Mediterranean Basin (MB). Moreover, it is an allogamous and anemophilous species whose seeds are disseminated by birds, i.e. factors that drive gene flow between crops and their wild relatives. Here we investigated the genetic structure of western MB wild olive populations in natural environments assuming a homogenous gene pool with limited impact of cultivated alleles, as previously suggested. We used a target sequencing method based on annotated genes from the Farga reference genome to analyze 27 western MB olive tree populations sampled in natural environments in France, Spain and Morocco. We also target sequenced cultivated olive tree accessions from the Worldwide Olive Germplasm Bank of Marrakech and Porquerolles and from an eastern MB wild olive tree population. We combined PCA, sNMF, pairwise FST and TreeMix and clearly identified genuine wild olive trees throughout their natural distribution range along a north-south gradient including, for the first time, in southern France. However, contrary to our assumption, we highlighted more admixed than genuine wild olive trees. Our results raise questions regarding the admixed population evolution pattern in this environment, which might be facilitated by crop-to-wild gene flow.

Objetivos: presentar un caso de necrosis uterina tras técnica de sutura hemostática por hemorragia posparto y hacer una revisión de la literatura para determinar la técnica de sutura utilizada, los hallazgos clínicos, la técnica diagnóstica y el tratamiento realizado en los casos clínicos descritos. Materiales y métodos: se presenta el caso de una mujer de 34 años que consultó por dolor abdominal al octavo día tras cesárea por placenta previa, que precisó sutura de B-Lynch por atonía uterina y cuyo diagnóstico fue necrosis uterina. La paciente requirió histerectomía abdominal total, con evolución satisfactoria. Se realizó una búsqueda sistemática de la literatura en las bases de datos Medline vía Pubmed, Embase y Web of Science. Se buscaron series y reportes de casos y cohortes de mujeres con necrosis uterina posterior al uso de suturas de compresión uterina para control de hemorragia posparto. Se analizaron variables sociodemográficas y clínicas al diagnóstico, técnica de sutura, pruebas diagnósticas y tratamiento. Resultados: se incluyeron 23 estudios con 24 pacientes. El 83 % de las necrosis ocurrieron tras cesárea. La técnica más utilizada fue B-Lynch (66 %), seguida de Cho (25 %). Los síntomas más frecuentes fueron fiebre y dolor abdominal. La prueba diagnóstica más utilizada fue la tomografía computarizada (9 de 24 casos). En la mayoría de casos se realizó histerectomía (75 %). Conclusiones: la necrosis de la pared uterina es una complicación infrecuente pero grave. Sería recomendable el diseño de cohortes de seguimiento de mujeres sometidas a estos procedimientos para determinar la incidencia de complicaciones asociadas.

In this project, we introduce a novel methodology for analysing the environmental conditions in the coastal area of Martil (Tétouan, Morocco) using benthic foraminifera as bio-indicators of marine ecological status. Benthic foraminifera have emerged as reliable indicators of environmental pollution, Their sensitivity to environmental changes, wide geographic presence, and short life cycle make them ideal for indicating the ecological status. Our study focused on the Mediterranean coastal region, along a radial perpendicular to the coast, at different depths, at the mouth of the Martil River, in addition to a control sample collected in the Azla region at a depth of 25 meters. Abiotic parameters like pH, temperature, and dissolved oxygen were measured on-site, complemented by detailed sedimentary analyses in the laboratory. A meticulous protocol was followed for the study of microfauna, particularly benthic foraminifera, involving washing, extraction, sorting, species identification, statistical counting, and microscopic imaging. Utilizing CA and AHC analyses, we identified factors influencing benthic foraminifera distribution, such as sediment depth and grain size variations. Specific indices derived from foraminifera data allowed us to assess stress levels accurately. This comprehensive approach provides valuable insights into evaluating the ecological health of Morocco's coastal marine ecosystems, paving the way for informed conservation efforts and sustainable management practices.

This research provides general guidelines for monitoring the environmental quality state of the marine ecosystems using benthic microfauna as a bioindicator tool in the Western Moroccan Mediterranean coastal areas. The current faunistic composition of 18 superficial sediment samples collected in areas having a wild range of environmental conditions have been the subject of factorial correspondence and hierarchical classification analysis, allowing us to follow the distribution patterns of the benthic assemblages. Considering the influence of both hydrodynamic and sedimental conditions on the superficial sediment, recognized in this study as the main environmental factors affecting the distribution of species in this type of environment, we were able to delineate three environmental units, with specific faunistic response related to the corresponding environmental conditions. Leading us to identify the optimal sampling area for the biomonitoring surveys in this region. Shallow and high-energy coastal areas were found to limit data collection and the representation of the sampling area, while low-energy areas were identified as ideal for environmental surveys, showcasing strong faunistic response to stressful conditions. we recommend to conduct the ecological monitoring studies in the 10–30-meter depth range, where the environmental conditions favor the assessment of the current environmental quality state by the benthic microfauna.

Precision Agriculture (PA) is a management strategy based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) used to assist management decisions with the aim to increase productivity, to reduce labor time and inputs needed, to improve benefits and to protect the environment. Techniques related to PA were initially used to monitor status of annual crops and they were recently adopted on fruit trees. Nevertheless, PA is still in its initiation phase in Morocco. Given the importance of olive in the national and international levels, applying this concept in the intensive and hyper-intensive production systems would be a reliable and cost-effective approach for the assessment of orchards health and nutritional status and then make reliable decisions. With the aim to assess the potential of multi-spectral images to inform on temporal and spatial variability characterizing an olive orchard, this study was carried out in an orchard of 22 ha, in Meknes region, Morocco, planted principally with “Picholine marocaine” variety. Four Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) flights, from June to November 2020, were performed and three vegetation indices (VIs) were computed: NDVI, GNDVI and NDRE. Spatial variability was assessed using variogram, a geostatistical tool, and temporal variability was evaluated using Spearman rank correlation and relative difference methods. The three VIs showed a weak temporal and spatial stability of trees which indicate an overall unstable canopy condition related to tree physiological behavior and environmental conditions (temperature and rainfall). Additionally, the observation of a potential stress was recorded firstly by NDRE, followed by NDVI and GNDVI. Results show promising perspectives of using remote sensing techniques to assess olive trees status and therefore support farmers in orchards management. Such challenge requires more in-depth work to develop in house models correlating VIs to agronomical parameters.

Introduction: Brain injury patterns of preterm infants with perinatal asphyxia (PA) are underreported. We aimed to explore brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings and associated neurodevelopmental outcomes in these newborns. Methods: Retrospective multicenter study included infants with gestational age (GA) 24.0–36.0 weeks and PA, defined as ≥2 of the following: (1) umbilical cord pH ≤7.0, (2) 5-min Apgar score ≤5, and (3) fetal distress or systemic effects of PA. Findings were compared between GA <28.0 (group 1), 28.0–31.9 (group 2), and 32.0–36.0 weeks (group 3). Early MRI (<36 weeks postmenstrual age or <10 postnatal days) was categorized according to predominant injury pattern, and MRI around term-equivalent age (TEA, 36.0–44.0 weeks and ≥10 postnatal days) using the Kidokoro score. Adverse outcomes included death, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, severe hearing/visual impairment, or neurodevelopment <-1 SD at 18–24 months corrected age. Results: One hundred nineteen infants with early MRI (n = 94) and/or MRI around TEA (n = 66) were included. Early MRI showed predominantly hemorrhagic injury in groups 1 (56%) and 2 (45%), and white matter (WM)/watershed injury in group 3 (43%). Around TEA, WM scores were highest in groups 2 and 3. Deep gray matter (DGM) (aOR 15.0, 95% CI: 3.8–58.9) and hemorrhagic injury on early MRI (aOR 2.5, 95% CI: 1.3–4.6) and Kidokoro WM (aOR 1.3, 95% CI: 1.0–1.6) and DGM sub-scores (aOR 4.8, 95% CI: 1.1–21.7) around TEA were associated with adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. Conclusion: The brain injury patterns following PA in preterm infants differ across GA. Particularly DGM abnormalities are associated with adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nature-based solutions are claimed to offer an effective approach to tackle societal challenges and promote biodiversity. While research has mainly focused on biodiversity and material ecosystem services, non-material contributions and relational values of urban green spaces remain underexplored. How to balance the benefits of nature, well-being, and relational values in their design and performance evaluation remains unclear. To elicit the values expressed in public communication regarding the benefits of urban nature projects in Flanders, three online repositories that feature diverse nature-based solutions projects in the region were chosen. Using coding and quantitative content analysis of standardized descriptions from these repositories, this study found that relational values were most abundant (55%), followed by instrumental values (30%) and intrinsic values (15%), consistently so over socio-demographic and physical contexts. It was also discovered that larger projects have a higher level of multifunctionality, which is calculated based on the variety of values and value dimensions expressed, and that participation—although considered key—rarely reports on inclusivity. The findings suggest that in Flanders, a greater emphasis is placed on relational values associated with urban nature. A broader value scope for the design, management, and evaluation of urban green spaces tailored to the local context is recommended.

Olive leaf spot (OLS), also called olive scab and peacock eye, caused by Fusicladium oleagineum, is a major disease that causes significant damage to olive trees. However, we still lack information about how cultivar and environmental factors influence disease development. In this study, evaluation of the incidence and severity on twenty olive cultivars (Olea europaea L.), maintained in an ex situ collection in Morocco, was carried out monthly during the period from March to July 2021. Biochemical parameters were also evaluated for each cultivar including leaf chlorophyll, polyphenols and flavonoid contents. Results revealed that the OLS incidence was highly correlated with severity (r = 0.94) and found to be related to climatic conditions and cultivars. The studied cultivars were classified into four major groups, i.e., susceptible, moderately susceptible, moderately resistant and resistant. Finally, our investigations revealed a partial relationship between resistance to the OLS disease and phenolic and flavonoid leaf contents, supporting the assumption of the potential involvement of such components in cultivar resistance to the disease. Overall, our work highlights the importance of characterizing olive cultivar resistance to OLS in driving the choice of the best varieties for an effective control of the disease in specific warming regions such as Morocco.
