The distribution of trace elements in pyrite has been documented for the first time in quartz veins hosted in the Mesoproterozoic metasedimentary sequence of the Tombador Formation, São Francisco Craton, northeast Brazil. In this study, Electron Microprobe Analyses (EPMA) were used to determine the trace-element compositions of pyrite in these hydrothermal quartz veins. Three pyrite types have been distinguished and interpreted from petrographical relationships and trace-element patterns. Pre-existing pyrite (Py1), derived from the host-rock quartzite, is Ni-poor with concentrations varying from 600 – 6,100 ppm. Elongated syn-tectonic pyrite (Py2) has similar trace-element composition to the Py1, with Ni amounts ranging between 830 and 7,870 ppm. In contrast, possibly post-tectonic, euhedral to subhedral hydrothermal pyrite (Py3), contains higher contents of Ni (7,970 – 26,120 ppm). Mafic and/or metasedimentary rocks from the Espinhaço Supergroup were probably the source of Ni for this fluid-flow event. Fluid generation is related to the devolatilization of the base of the thickened crust, with migration of fluids by preexisting structures. Several shear zones and large-scale NNW-trending folds were developed during the inversion of the Espinhaço basin, as a result of the ca. 0.6 Ga Brasiliano orogenic event. Regional fluid movement through the crust at this time is supported by several mineralized veins and hydrothermal deposits in the São Francisco Craton and adjacent Neoproterozoic belts.

ABSTRACTSome present-day eolian sand sheets have small and width dunes, called zibars, as common type of depositional morphology. Their formation is related to different stabilizing factors, which reduce the availability of clastic materials for eolian processes. In fact, zibars are dunes which do not have time to develop a larger dune with slipface (proto-dune). Dunes in sands sheet areas generally are constructed by wind ripple laminations and commonly generate sedimentary succession less than 20 m thick, which are the consequence of low sand supply. This study deals with an uncommon eolian sand sheet sedimentary succession more than 50 m thick, Proterozoic in age, known as Bandeirinha Formation. This paper tries to explain the anomalous thick of this sand sheet sedimentary succession. High thickness was probably the result of a high input of sand material, combine with low availability of sand, thus allowing the only construction of proto-dunes (zibars). Early cementation, due to near-surface evaporation of saline water, has been proposed as main factor that reduced the sand availability into this eolian system. Finally, the subsidence processes related to the first stage of rift Espinhaço Basin must have generated the accommodation space to preserve the sand sheet succession.

Introdução: A hipertensão arterial tem alta prevalência em renais crônicos, sendo a hipervolemia um de seus fatores causais. Objetivo: Avaliar a influência da redução da volemia no controle pressórico e em parâmetros ecocardiográficos de pacientes renais crônicos em diálise peritoneal contínua. Métodos: Doze renais crônicos sem sinais clínicos de hipervolemia foram submetidos à intensificação da diálise com o objetivo de reduzir o peso corporal em 5%. A volemia foi avaliada pela bioimpedância elétrica e pela ultrassonografia de veia cava inferior (VCI). Os voluntários foram submetidos à monitorização ambulatorial da pressão arterial e a exame ecocardiográfico no período basal e após 5 semanas de intervenção. Resultados: Após a intensificação da ultrafiltração, houve redução significativa do peso corporal, da água extracelular e do diâmetro inspiratório da VCI, enquanto o índice de colapsamento da VCI não alterou de modo significativo. A despeito da redução do número de anti-hipertensivos, a pressão sistólica do período de sono reduziu de 138,4 ± 18,6 para 126,7 ± 18,0 mmHg, o descenso pressórico do sono aumentou e o diâmetro sistólico final do ventrículo esquerdo reduziu significantemente. Conclusão: A redução da volemia de pacientes em diálise peritoneal, clinicamente euvolêmicos, se associou a melhor controle pressórico e à diminuição do diâmetro sistólico final do ventrículo esquerdo.

Homem, 58 anos, tabagista, previamente livre de sintomas coronarianos, foi admitido com dor retroesternal aguda. O eletrocardiograma mostrou elevação transitória do segmento ST nas derivações V1 a V3, que retornou à linha de base após cessar a dor. O nível sérico das enzimas cardíacas estava normal. O ecocardiograma não apresentou alterações segmentares da contratilidade do ventrículo esquerdo e a coronariografia demonstrou obstrução severa no terço proximal da artéria descendente anterior e na artéria diagonal. Foi tratado com nitrato, diltiazem e angioplastia com stent e não apresentou novos sintomas. Foi confirmado o diagnóstico de espasmo coronariano.
