Se efectuó una encuesta transversal en 350 establecimientos de ciclo completo y cría (CC) e invernada (IN) bovina, ubicados el este de la provincia de La Pampa con la finalidad de registrar los casos de gastroenteritis verminosa (GEV) y las prácticas de control y manejo utilizadas por los ganaderos. La muestra fueron tomadas al azar a partir de 3 estratos de acuerdo al número de existencias bovinas: productores con más de 900 (G), de entre 900-500 (M) y de 500 a 300 (P) bovinos. Abstract

This paper presents the results of the blind test competition carried out within the scope of the European project SERA.ta "Seismic Response of Masonry Cross Vaults: Shaking table tests and numerical validations". The purpose of the competition was to predict the results of a set of tests carried out on an unstrengthened full-scale cross vault with mortar joints and solid bricks (then strengthened with textile reinforced mortar) subjected to a horizontal dynamic excitation. The paper offers an overview of the modelling approaches utilised, along with their corresponding predictions and post dictions. The findings are assessed based on both the damage mechanisms and predicted values for displacements and accelerations in both directions. The results are then compared with the experimental findings. Modelling approaches utilizing the Finite Element Method (FEM) yielded the most accurate predictions regarding displacements and crack patterns. Conversely, a submission employing a Discrete Element model provided the most accurate prediction of damage mechanisms. Nonetheless, the significant discrepancies in predicted displacements and accelerations underscore the necessity for continued efforts to establish consensus on appropriate modelling assumptions for masonry vaults. It remains the only curative approach to treating allergic disorders that ameliorates symptoms, reduces medication costs, and blocks the onset of new sensitizations. Despite this clinical evidence and knowledge of some immunological mechanisms, there remain some open questions regarding the safety and efficacy of this treatment. This suggests the need for novel therapeutic approaches that attempt to reduce the dose and frequency of treatment administration, improving patient compliance, and reducing costs. In this context, the use of novel adjuvants has been proposed and, in recent years, biomedical applications using nanoparticles have been exploited in the attempt to find formulations with improved stability, bioavailability, favorable biodistribution profiles, and the capability of targeting specific cell populations. In this article, we review some of the most relevant regulatory aspects and challenges concerning nanoparticle-based formulations with immunomodulatory potential, their related immunosafety issues, and the nature of the nanoparticles most widely employed in the allergy field. Furthermore, we report in vitro and in vivo data published using allergen/nanoparticle systems, discuss their impact on the immune system in terms of immunomodulatory activity and the reduction of side effects, and show that this strategy is a novel and promising tool for the development of allergy vaccines. A cross-sectional survey including 350 stocking farms and bovine establishments that operate the full cycle (FC) as well as fattening operations (IN) was carried out in the East of the Province of La Pampa to record cases of verminous gastroenteritis (VGE) as well as control and management practices applied by the farmers.Farms were stratified by herd size into three categories: more than 900 (G), 900-500 (M) and 500-300 (P) bovines. Abstract

In 2017, the Rilem Technical Committee 250-CSM coordinated a Round Robin initiative, in which 19 research institutions tested 28 Fabric Reinforced Cementitious Matrix (FRCM) composites, with the support of 11 industrial partners. Two years after the publication of the first papers on the results of this wide investigation, it is still worth further analysing its outcomes to highlight the fundamental properties of mortar-based reinforcements and give an overview of the various available fabrics and matrices, which are currently used in structural rehabilitation activities. Equally, a better understanding still needs to be gained on the causes of the variability observed in test results. These include the quasibrittle behaviour of the inorganic matrix and its sensitivity to manufacturing, curing and handling. Test implementation, such as gripping method and measuring techniques, also plays a crucial role in the reliability and repeatability of experimental outcomes.

Abstract

Introduction: Few data on the diagnostic performance of serological tests for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection are currently available. We evaluated sensitivity and specificity of five different widely used commercial serological assays for the detection of SARS-CoV-2–specific IgG, IgM, and IgA antibodies using reverse transcriptase-PCR assay in nasopharyngeal swab as reference standard test.Methods: A total of 337 plasma samples collected in the period April–June 2020 from SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR positive (n = 207) and negative (n = 130) subjects were investigated by one point-of-care lateral flow immunochromatographic assay (LFIA IgG and IgM, Technogenetics) and four fully automated assays: two chemiluminescence immunoassays (CLIA-iFlash IgG and IgM, Shenzhen YHLO Biotech and CLIA-LIAISON® XL IgG, DiaSorin), one electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA-Elecsys® total predominant IgG, Roche), and one enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA IgA, Euroimmune).Results: The overall sensitivity of all IgG serological assays was >80% and the specificity was >97%. The sensitivity of IgG assays was lower within 2 weeks from the onset of symptoms ranging from 70.8 to 80%. The LFIA and CLIA-iFlash IgM showed an overall low sensitivity of 47.6 and 54.6%, while the specificity was 98.5 and 96.2%, respectively. The ELISA IgA yielded a sensitivity of 84.3% and specificity of 81.7%. However, the ELISA IgA result was indeterminate in 11.7% of cases.Conclusions: IgG serological assays seem to be a reliable tool for the retrospective diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection. IgM assays seem to have a low sensitivity and IgA assay is limited by a substantial rate of indeterminate results.
