Objectives: To assess the long-term oncological safety of laparoscopic fertility-sparing surgery (FSS) in borderline ovarian tumors and the impact of laparoscopic surgical factors on recurrences. Primary outcomes were the recurrence rate and time to recurrence after laparoscopic FSS. Secondary outcomes were to evaluate the recurrence rate after a second laparoscopic surgery and to assess factors associated with the risk of relapse. Methods: This is a retrospective single-center observational study in a tertiary university-affiliated hospital. Thirty-four patients diagnosed with borderline ovarian tumors who underwent laparoscopic FSS were recruited. Patients were categorized into two groups: the adnexectomy group, including patients who underwent unilateral adnexectomy, and the cystectomy group, which included patients who underwent unilateral cystectomy, bilateral cystectomy, and unilateral adnexectomy with contralateral cystectomy. Results: Eleven relapses (32.3%) were observed during a median follow-up period of 116.1 [62.5–185.4] months. The recurrence rate was similar for patients who underwent cystectomy (6/19, 31.6%) and adnexectomy (5/15, 33.3%). Cystectomy led to a shorter time to first recurrence (36-month progression-free survival rates of 66% vs. 85%) and higher rates of capsular rupture (71.4% vs. 20%, p = 0.04) compared to adnexectomy. No deaths due to progression of disease were reported. Conclusions: Laparoscopic FSS for borderline ovarian tumors is a safe, long-term oncological option. Although the recurrence rate was similar in patients undergoing adnexectomy or cystectomy, the time to recurrence was shorter in cases treated with cystectomy. Introduction: Based on their etiological relationship with human papillomavirus (HPV), the 2020 WHO classification has divided vulvar squamous cell carcinomas (VSCC) into two distinct types, HPV‐associated and HPV‐independent, and HPV‐independent tumours have recently been divided according to p53 status. Nevertheless, the clinical and prognostic significance of this classification has not been clearly established. We analysed the differential clinical, pathological, and behavioural characteristics of these three types of VSCC in a large series of patients. Methods and results: VSCC samples from patients who underwent primary surgery at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, Spain, during a 47‐year period (January 1975 to January 2022) were analysed (n = 190). HPV detection, p16, and p53 immunohistochemical staining were evaluated. We also analysed recurrence‐free survival (RFS) and disease‐specific survival (DSS). Thirty‐three tumours (17.4%) were HPV‐associated and 157 (82.6%) HPV‐independent. Of these, 20 showed normal and 137 abnormal p53 expression. The two types of HPV‐independent tumours showed worse RFS in the multivariate analysis (hazard ratio [HR] = 3.63; P = 0.023 for the HPV‐independent p53 normal VSCC and HR = 2.78; P = 0.028 for the HPV‐independent p53 abnormal VSCC). Although the differences were not significant, HPV‐independent VSCC had worse DSS than HPV‐associated VSCC. Although patients with HPV‐independent p53 normal tumours had worse RFS than patients with HPV‐independent p53 abnormal tumours, the DSS was better for the former group. Only advanced FIGO stage was associated with worse DSS in multivariate analysis (HR = 2.83; P = 0.010). Conclusion: The association of HPV and p53 status have prognostic implications, reinforcing a three‐tier molecular classification of VSCC (HPV‐associated VSCC, HPV‐independent VSCC with normal p53, HPV‐independent VSCC with abnormal p53). Background: Salvage surgery is considered an option for isolated recurrences of retroperitoneal and pelvic tumors, in patients who have undergone previous radiotherapy. In order to increase local control intra operative electron radiation therapy (IOERT) can be used in these patients to administer additional radiation dose. We evaluated the outcomes and adverse effects in patients with retroperitoneal sarcoma and gynecologic tumors after salvage surgery and IOERT. Materials and Methods: Twenty patients were retrospectively analyzed. Twenty-three IOERT treatments were performed after surgery. six (30%) were sarcoma and 14 (70%) were gynecological carcinoma. Administered dose depended on previous dose received with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and proximity to critical structures. The toxicities were scored using the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse events version 4.0. Results: The median age of the patients was 51 years (range 34-70). After a median follow-up of 32 months (range 1-68), in the sarcoma group the local control rate was 66.6%; while in the gynecological group the local control rate was 64.3%. In relation to late toxicity, one patient had a Grade 2 vesicovaginal fistula, and one patient presented Grade 4 enterocolitis and enteric intestinal fistula. conclusions: IOERT could have a role in the treatment of retroperitoneal sarcomas in primary tumors after EBRT, as it may suggest a benefit in local control or recurrences after surgical resection in those at high risk of microscopic residual disease. The addition of IOERT to salvage resection for isolated recurrence of gynecologic cancers suggest favorable local control in cases with concern for residual microscopic disease. Objectives : Accurate assessment of disease extent is required to select the best primary treatment for advanced epithelial ovarian cancer patients. Estimation of tumour burden is challenging and it is usually performed by means of a surgical procedure. Imaging techniques and tumour markers can help to estimate tumour burden non-invasively. 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT allows the evaluation of the whole-body disease. This study aimed to correlate HE4 and CA125 serum concentrations with tumour burden evaluated by volumetric 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT parameters in advanced high-grade epithelial ovarian cancer. Methods: We included 66 patients who underwent 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT and serum tumour markers determination before primary treatment. Volumes of interest were delimited in every pathological uptake. Whole-body metabolic tumour volume (wb_MTV) and total lesion glycolysis (wb_TLG) were calculated summing up every VOI's MTV value. SUVmax thresholds were set at 40% (MTV40 and TLG40) and 50% (MTV50 and TLG50). In addition, four VOI subgroups were defined: peritoneal carcinomatosis, retroperitoneal nodes, supradiaphragmatic nodes, and distant metastases. MTV and TLG were calculated for each group by adding up the corresponding MTV values. TLG was calculated likewise. Results: wb_MTV and wb_TLG were found to be significantly correlated with serum CA125 and HE4 concentrations. The strongest correlation was observed between HE4 and wb_MTV40 (r = 0.62, p < 0.001). Pearson's correlation coefficients between peritoneal carcinomatosis MTV40 and tumour markers were 0.61 (p < 0.0001) and 0.29 (p = 0.02) for HE4 and CA125 respectively. None of these tumour markers showed a positive correlation with tumour load outside the abdominal cavity assessed by volumetric parameters. Conclusion: HE4 performs better than CA125 to predict metabolic tumour burden in high-grade epithelial ovarian cancer before primary treatment. 2-[18F]FDG PET/CT volumetric parameters arise as feasible tools for the objective assessment of tumour load and its anatomical distribution. Objective: We aimed to evaluate the accuracy of sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping with transvaginal ultrasound-guided myometrial injection of radiotracer (TUMIR) to detect lymph node (LN) metastases, in patients with intermediate and high-risk endometrial cancer (EC), focusing on its performance to detect paraaortic involvement. Methods: Prospective study including women with preoperative intermediate or high-risk EC, according to ESMO-ESGO-ESTRO consensus, who underwent SLN mapping using the TUMIR approach. SLNs were preoperatively localized by planar and single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography images, and intraoperatively by gamma-probe. Immediately after SLN excision, all women underwent systematic pelvic and paraaortic lymphadenectomy by laparoscopy. Results: The study included 102 patients. The intraoperative SLN detection rate was 79.4% (81/102). Pelvic and paraaortic drainage was observed in 92.6% (75/81) and 45.7% (37/81) women, respectively, being exclusively paraaortic in 7.4% (6/81). After systematic lymphadenectomy, LN metastases were identified in 19.6% (20/102) patients, with 45.0% (9/20) showing paraaortic involvement, which was exclusive in 15.0% (3/20). The overall sensitivity and negative predictive value (NPV) of SLNs by the TUMIR approach to detect lymphatic involvement were 87.5% and 97.0%, respectively; and 83.3% and 96.9%, for paraaortic metastases. After applying the MSKCC SLN mapping algorithm, the sensitivity and NPV were 93.8% and 98.5%, respectively. Conclusion: The TUMIR method provides valuable information of endometrial drainage in patients at higher risk of paraaortic LN involvement. The TUMIR approach showed a detection rate of paraaortic SLNs greater than 45% and a high sensitivity and NPV for paraaortic metastases in women with intermediate and high-risk EC. Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare oncological outcomes and morbidity in patients with early-stage vulvar cancer with negative sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy vs negative inguinofemoral lymphadenectomy (IFL).Material and Methods: Study with retrospectively collected data in patients with squamous cell vulvar carcinomas ≤ 4 cm without suspected inguinofemoral lymph node metastases. Only patients with negative nodes after histopathology procedure were followed. Patients who underwent only SLN were compared with patients who underwent IFL ± SLN to compare recurrences, survival rates and morbidity.Results: Ninety-three patients were eligible for follow up: 42 with negative SLN and 51 with negative IFL ± SLN. The median follow-up period was 60.4 months (range 6.7-160.7). The rate of isolated first groin recurrence was 4.8% in patients with negative SLN and 2.0% in patients with negative IFL ± SLN (P = 0.587) and the rates of first isolated local recurrence were 28.6% and 31.4%, respectively (P = 0.823). Only 1 patient (2.4%) in the group of negative SLN had distant recurrence. The disease-specific survival rate at 5 years was 83.3% in the negative SLN group and 92.2% in the negative IFL ± SLN group (P = 0.214). We observed a higher rate of wound breakdown and infection after IFL than SLN biopsy (17.6% vs 10.6%; P = 0.020) and lymphedema (33.3% vs 0%; P < 0.001).Conclusions: We report in the same population of patients with early-stage vulvar cancer that SLN biopsy does not have significantly higher rates of groin recurrences or lower survival rates compared with IFL. Clinical benefit of surgical staging in locally advanced cervical cancer has not yet been proved. The goal of this study was to analyze the prognostic and therapeutic value of laparoscopic para-aortic lymphadenectomy with selective excision of suspicious pelvic nodes in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.This is a retrospective study including 109 women treated in a single institution from 2000 to 2009. The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage was IB2 in 12 women, IIB in 58 women, and IIIB in 39 women. None had suspicious para-aortic nodes by presurgical imaging evaluation. All patients underwent extraperitoneal para-aortic laparoscopic lymphadenectomy with selective excision of enlarged pelvic nodes and received pelvic radiotherapy with concomitant chemotherapy. Extended lumboaortic radiation therapy was added to patients with metastatic para-aortic nodes. The mean ± SD follow-up time was 43.1 ± 33.7 months.Metastatic lymph nodes were identified in 23 (21.1%) of 109 patients in the para-aortic area and in 24 (53.3%) of 45 patients who underwent selective excision of pelvic nodes. Patients with nodal metastases had increased risk of mortality than those with negative nodes independently of the location (pelvic and/or para-aortic) of the metastases (hazard ratio, 4.07; 95% confidence interval, 1.36-12.16 for patients with pelvic metastases [P = 0.012]; and 3.73; 95% confidence interval, 1.38-10.09 for patients with para-aortic metastases [P = 0.010]). In the subset of women with para-aortic metastases treated by extended lumboaortic radiation therapy, neither the number of lymph nodes removed nor the number of positive nodes were associated with survival (P = 0.556 and P = 0.195, respectively).Para-aortic and pelvic lymphadenectomy provides valuable information about mortality risk in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer. The aim of this study was to compare the feasibility, safety, and survival outcomes of Coelio-Schauta (CS) procedure versus open Wertheim-Meigs (WM) as primary surgical treatment of early-stage cervical cancer.Observational study on the consecutive cases of cervical cancer undergoing CS during the last 11 years at our institution was performed. Data on clinical characteristics of patients, surgical performance, long-term morbidity, and survival were prospectively analyzed and compared with a historical series of 23 consecutive WM performed at the same hospital in the immediate previous period.Sixty-seven patients were included in the study group (CS). Cases and controls were comparable in age, body mass index, stage, tumor size, and histological diagnosis. The number of pelvic nodes, disease-free margin, and complications rate were similar in both groups, but blood loss and blood transfusion rate were marginally less in the CS group. Operating time was longer in the first 20 CS patients, but it became comparable to WM once the learning curve was overcome. Hospital stay was significantly shorter in the CS group as well as the bladder function recovery time. However, no differences were seen regarding long-term urinary and bowel function between groups. Four patients (5.9%) from the CS group and 3 (13%) in the WM group had recurrence. Mortality rates were 3% and 8.7%, respectively (P = not significant).The CS procedure is a suitable alternative to WM for small-volume, early-stage cervical cancer, showing a good safety profile, shorter postoperative recovery time, and similar survival outcomes. (1) OBJECTIVE: To assess the performance of CA125, HE4, ROMA index and CPH-I index to preoperatively identify epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) or metastatic cancer in the ovary (MCO). (2) METHODS: single center retrospective study, including women with a diagnosis of adnexal mass. We obtained the AUC, sensitivity, specificity and predictive values were of HE4, CA125, ROMA and CPH-I for the diagnosis of EOC and MCO. Subgroup analysis for women harboring adnexal masses with inconclusive diagnosis of malignancy by ultrasound features and Stage I EOC was performed. (3) RESULTS: 1071 patients were included, 852 (79.6%) presented benign/borderline tumors and 219 (20.4%) presented EOC/MCO. AUC for HE4 was higher than for CA125 (0.91 vs. 0.87). No differences were seen between AUC of ROMA and CPH-I, but they were both higher than HE4 AUC. None of the tumor markers alone achieved a sensitivity of 90%; HE4 was highly specific (93.5%). ROMA showed a sensitivity and specificity of 91.1% and 84.6% respectively, while CPH-I showed a sensitivity of 91.1% with 79.2% specificity. For patients with inconclusive diagnosis of malignancy by ultrasound features and with Stage I EOC, ROMA showed the best diagnostic performance (4) CONCLUSIONS: ROMA and CPH-I perform better than tumor markers alone to identify patients harboring EOC or MCO. They can be helpful to assess the risk of malignancy of adnexal masses, especially in cases where ultrasonographic diagnosis is challenging (stage I EOC, inconclusive diagnosis of malignancy by ultrasound features). Simple Summary: Some recently published studies in early-stage cervical cancer patients have shown that minimally invasive surgery (MIS), including laparoscopic and robotic approaches, might offer lower survival rates than classic open surgery. We evaluated the oncological results of a series of patients treated by laparoscopically assisted radical vaginal hysterectomy (LARVH), an infrequently used MIS technique. We included 115 patients with early-stage cervical cancer (IA1 with lymphovascular invasion, IA2, IB1, and IIA < 2 cm; International Federation of Gynecology (FIGO), 2008). The 3- and 4.5-year disease-free survival rates were 96.7% and 93.5%, respectively, and the overall survival was 97.8% and 94.8%, respectively. These survival data are comparable with those reported with the open radical hysterectomy but presented the advantages of MIS. LARVH offers excellent disease control in women with early-stage cervical cancer and can be considered as an adequate MIS alternative to open radical hysterectomy. Background: Recent evidence indicates that some minimally invasive surgery approaches, such as laparoscopic and robotic-assisted radical hysterectomy, offer lower survival rates to patients with early-stage cervical cancer than open radical hysterectomy. We evaluated the oncological results of a different minimally invasive surgery approach, that of laparoscopically assisted radical vaginal hysterectomy (LARVH) in this setting. Methods: From January 2001 to December 2018, patients with early-stage cervical cancer were treated by LARVH. Colpotomy and initial closure of the vagina were performed following the Schauta operation, avoiding manipulation of the tumor. Laparoscopic sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy was performed in all cases. Women treated between 2001 and 2011 also underwent pelvic lymphadenectomy. Results: There were 115 patients included. Intraoperative complications occurred in nine patients (7.8%). After a median follow-up of 87.8 months (range 1–216), seven women (6%) presented recurrence. Four women died (mortality rate 3.4%). The 3- and 4.5-year disease-free survival rates were 96.7% and 93.5%, respectively, and the overall survival was 97.8% and 94.8%, respectively. Conclusion: LARVH offers excellent disease-free and overall survival in women with early-stage cervical cancer and can be considered as an adequate minimally invasive surgery alternative to open radical hysterectomy. Investigar la utilidad de la detección del virus del papiloma humano en la orina de las mujeres con una deficiente atención ginecológica.Se analizaron 50 muestras de orina y 50 muestras de cérvix de 50 mujeres. Se aplicó una reacción en cadena de polimerasa en esas 100 muestras, utilizando cebadores de consenso y un método basado en micromatrices de baja densidad para la determinación del tipo del virus del papiloma.La concordancia de los resultados entre los dos grupos de muestras fue del 80%. En las muestras de orina, la sensibilidad de la reacción en cadena de polimerasa para la detección de lesiones intraepiteliales escamosas de alto grado fue del 100%, la especificidad del 80%, el valor predictivo positivo del 91% y el valor predictivo negativo del 100%.La detección del virus del papiloma humano en muestras de orina puede utilizarse como método alternativo de detección sistemática en las mujeres con una deficiente atención ginecológica. Introduction Germ cell tumors (GCT) represent less than 3% of all ovarian malignancies. They occur predominantly at young ages. The immature ovarian teratoma is the third commonest of the GCT, accounting for less than 1% of ovarian cancer cases worldwide. Growing teratoma syndrome (GTS) is a clinical entity characterized by a rapidly enlarging benign tumor mass, that arises during or after adjuvant chemotherapy for malignant ovarian GCT in presence of normal tumor markers. Its incidence has been reported to be from 2.5% to 19% of immature teratomas. We report an unusual case of GTS in a patient previously treated for recurrent stage IA immature teratoma of the ovary. Patients and results A 32-year-old nulligravida woman underwent right laparoscopic salpingo-oophorectomy because of suspected teratoma. Preoperative transvaginal ultrasound had identified a 12 cm complex cystic ovarian mass, with thin wall, a central solid component of 7 cm in size and two septa. Computed tomography (CT) did not show carcinomatosis nor other signs of disseminated disease. Serum tumor markers were normal except from α-fetoprotein (AFP)=156ng/ml. Removal of specimen was performed within an endobag. Intraoperatory histological examination informed benign teratoma. Final pathology revealed the presence of isolated foci of neuroepithelial immature tissue in one low magnification field of only one histological preparation, prompting the diagnosis of grade- 1 stage IA immature teratoma. The cytologic examination of peritoneal washing did not detect malignant cells. Tumor board decided to perform follow-up and this was agreed with the patient. Three months after surgery the patient consulted again for abdominal pain. Transvaginal ultrasound revealed the presence of a 15 cm complex solid mass in the right adnexal fossa. CT described a vast 20cm pelvic mass, a 7 cm left iliac fossa tumor, two Douglas pouch implants (2 and 2.5 cm), one 1.5 cm subhepatic implant and a 2 cm right iliac fossa implant. Elevated serum tumor markers were: CA-125=250U/ml, CA-19.9=97U/ml, TAG-72=19.8U/ml and AFP=3054ng/ml). Optimal citorreductive open surgery was performed, removing the pelvic tumor, cecal appendix, greater omentum and implants in Douglas pouch, uterine serosa, left ovarian surface, pelvic peritoneum and sigmoid colon serosa. Final pathology revealed a grade-3 immature teratoma in all resected lesions. The patient underwent adjuvant chemotherapy postoperatively with cisplatin, etoposide, and bleomycin (BEP x 4 cycles). Five months after surgery, a control CT scan was performed showing multiple 3 to 5 cm implants in the abdominal cavity. All tumor markers were normal. Another complete citorreduction that required a right hemicolectomy was achieved. Final pathology informed 39 implants, all of them presenting mature teratoma histology. Close follow-up was agreed. Conclusion Immature teratoma is an aggressive tumor that usually shows a good response to chemotherapy. Its aggressiveness remains on the proportion of tissue containing immature neural elements found. The occurrence of GTS should be bared in mind when dealing with immature teratoma. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of p16INK4a staining to classify cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 1 according to its progression/regression risk. Study Design: Patients with a histologic diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 1 were prospectively recruited (n = 138). Simultaneous detection of high-risk human papillomaviruses and p16INK4a evaluation were performed. Follow-up was conducted every 6 months by cytology and colposcopy and annually by high-risk human papillomavirus testing, for at least 12 months (mean, 29.0). Progression was defined as a histologic diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grades 2-3, regression as a negative cytology and high-risk human papillomaviruses, and persistence as a cytologic result of low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions and/or a positive test for high-risk human papillomaviruses. Results: Progression was observed in 14 women (10.1%), 66 (47.6%) regressed, and 58 (42.0%) had a persistent disease. p16INK4a was positive in 77 (55.8%) initial biopsy specimens. Progression to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grades 2-3 was identified in 14 of 77 (18.2%) women with positive and none of 61 (0.00%) women with negative p16INK4a immunostaining (P < .001). Conclusion: p16INK4a negative cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 1 lesions rarely progress and may benefit from a less intensive follow-up. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Background: Lymph node (LN) metastases are the most important prognostic factor in locally advanced cervical cancer. Paraaortic lymphadenectomy is the only method able to confirm the presence of metastasis and thereby help to determine the most adequate treatment approach. There is no standard regarding the minimal number of LNs that should be removed in paraaortic lymphadenectomy. Women with undiagnosed positive paraaortic LNs (false negatives) due to a low LN count do not receive extended-field radiation therapy, which may lead to worse survival outcomes. The aim of this study is to confirm LN metastases as poor prognosis and to assess whether in cases of locally advanced CC with negative paraaortic LN status, the number of paraaortic LN laparoscopically removed carries a prognostic value., Methods: We analyzed 78 patients with locally advanced cervical cancer that underwent complete paraaortic lymphadenectomy., Results: Fifteen (19.2%) women had paraaortic LN metastases. The mean number of LN extracted was 11.1 (SD 7.5). Patients with paraaortic LN metastases presented a worse overall survival (127.1 months [95% CI 111.7-142.4] vs. 59.6 months [95% CI 31.2-87.9]; p<0.01). Nevertheless, there were no differences regarding disease-free survival. There were no prognostic differences according to the number of LNs resected in patients with negative lymphadenectomy., Conclusions: Patients with locally advanced cervical cancer and paraaortic LN metastases present worse survival. Antecedents: Perivascular epitheliod cell tumor (PEComa) is a rare mesenchymal tumor. They are rare in the field of gynecology, which makes them difficult to consider as a possible diagnostic. We aim to contribute with our experience to ease clinical practice to others gynecologists., Patients and Methods: We contribute to literature with three gynecological cases; uterine, vaginal and retroperitoneal PEComas., Results: The uterine and vaginal PEComa, have required surgical treatment, and are free of disease at 9 and 5 months respectively. The retroperitoneal PEComa has recurred at 72 months of follow-up in form of retroperitoneal mass and pulmonary lymphangioleomyomatosis, continues treatment with sirolimus with good tolerance and partial response., Discussion: Given the scarcity of cases, the literature consists of case reports and mini-reviews. Some authors have categorized the PEComas based on prognostic factors, but there is no agreement regarding the follow-up and treatment. 18 F-FDG-PET/CT can help characterize these lesions. The surgery is the standard. In recurrent or malignant cases, there is a lack of evidence regarding chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Cervical displasia are classified as CIN-I, CIN-II and CIN-III. It has been observed that in at least 60% of CIN-I and CIN-II, the pathology disappears spontaneously, while around 30% persist at 24 months, 10% progress to CIN-III and 1% develops as a SCC. The factors involved in the evolution of the pathology are not defined, although infection of HPV is a necessary condition, but not the only one. For this reason, the identification of genetic changes is an essential element for understanding the carcinogenic process. It can also serve as a helpful tool for identifying patients who may be susceptible to its evolution and treatment, from patients whose lesions could regress spontaneous and for whom periodic follow-ups would be enough. Fifty three cervical biopsies from patients with dysplasia and ISCC were included in the study. These biopsies were set into nine macroarrays. Eight genes and five proteins were examined in each samples (hTERT, PIK3CA, hTERC, MYC, CCND1, BCL2, ZNF217 and p16) by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and/or immunohistochemistry (IHC). The results reflected that the genetic alterations of PIK3CA, ZNF217 and CCND1 were associated with the evolution of normal tissue to CIN I, those of hTERC and ERBB with the evolution of LSIL to HSIL, those of hTERT and MYC with the evolution of CIN-II/CIN-III to ISCC, and those of BCL-2 with the inception of ISCC. With regards to proteins, the expression of MYC and CCND1 in the initial stages of the illness would help in the acquisition of the altered cellular phenotype.
