Abstract Ocrelizumab (OCR) is a humanized anti‐CD20 monoclonal antibody approved for treating multiple sclerosis. We present three patients who developed psoriasiform dermatitis (PsD) during OCR treatment and a review of the cases published to date. We hereby report the first exclusive fingernail involvement. Most of the cases had a mild skin involvement and only one case required OCR discontinuation. No association with arthritis, personal or family history of psoriasis was found. Data compiled suggests that PsD tends to appear within the first year of treatment. There are few studies focusing on B‐lymphocytes in psoriasis and several hypotheses attempt to explain their role. The most widely accepted is the depletion of regulatory B‐lymphocytes with immunomodulatory function through interleukin‐10. However, the exact mechanism by which this occurs with OCR remains unclear and the presented case of anti‐CD20‐induced PsD highlights the importance of continuous monitoring of new treatments in terms of dermatological side effects and the induction of skin diseases, in particular psoriasis. There is also a need to inform the professional community about the possibility of psoriasis in patients with multiple sclerosis and the consequences of this condition.

Introduction Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. Adalimumab is an effective but previously expensive biological treatment for psoriasis. The introduction of biosimilars following the patent expiry of the originator adalimumab Humira has reduced the unit cost of treatment. However, the long-term effectiveness and safety of adalimumab biosimilars for treating psoriasis in real-world settings are uncertain and may be a barrier to widespread usage.Methods and analysis This study aims to compare the drug survival and safety of adalimumab biosimilars to adalimumab originator for the treatment of psoriasis. We will use both routinely collected healthcare databases and dedicated pharmacovigilance registries from the PsoNet initiative, including data from the UK, France and Spain. We will conduct a cohort study using a prevalent new user design. We will match patients on previous adalimumab exposure time to create two equal-sized cohorts of biosimilar and originator users. The coprimary outcomes are drug survival, defined by the time from cohort entry to discontinuation of the drug of interest; and risk of serious adverse events, defined by adverse events leading to hospitalisation or death. Cox proportional hazards models will be fitted to calculate HRs as the effect estimate for the outcomes.Ethics and dissemination The participating registries agree with the Declaration of Helsinki and received approval from local ethics committees. The results of the study will be published in scientific journals and presented at international dermatology conferences by the end of 2023.

El levosimendán es un inodilatador que se caracteriza por su inotropía positiva, vasodilatación y cardioprotección; mecanismo de acción único que lo diferencia de todos los demás fármacos inotrópicos. Además, cuenta con el metabolito activo, OR-1896, que le permite mantener sus efectos terapéuticos por varios días, aun después de finalizada la infusión. Actualmente se han demostrado sus efectos potenciales para manejar la insuficiencia cardíaca aguda y la insuficiencia cardíaca crónica avanzada, aportando una nueva opción para los pacientes cuando la terapia convencional no está siendo efectiva en el control de la enfermedad.

Background: Abrocitinib, a selective JAK 1 inhibitor, was recently approved in Europe. Despite its approval, real‐world data on its efficacy and safety in treating moderate‐to‐severe atopic dermatitis (AD) remains limited. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the short‐term effectiveness and safety of abrocitinib in a real‐life setting for patients with moderate‐to‐severe AD. Methods: We conducted a retrospective multicenter study involving adult patients with moderate‐to‐severe AD who started abrocitinib treatment between May 1, 2023, and September 30, 2023, in 15 Spanish hospitals. Treatment doses were 100 or 200 mg daily, based on clinical assessment. Data collection included patient demographics, AD history, comorbidities, previous treatments, and disease severity indicators such as SCORing atopic dermatitis (SCORAD), Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI), body surface area, and Peak Pruritus NRS scores at baseline, 4, 12, and 24 weeks. Quality of life was measured using the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), and safety was assessed by monitoring adverse reactions and various biochemical parameters. Results: The cohort comprised 76 patients with an average age of 33.93 years; 57.89% were male. Before abrocitinib, 36.84% were naïve to advanced therapies. The baseline mean scores were SCORAD 47.04, EASI 21.79, and DLQI 15.01. At Week 24, there were significant improvements: EASI was reduced to 2.81, and 70.58% of the patients achieved EASI 75. However, 18.42% discontinued treatment mainly due to inefficacy or adverse effects. The safety profile was favorable, with 22.37% reporting mild adverse events (AEs) and one serious case of cutaneous lymphoma. Conclusions: This first Spanish series assessing abrocitinib in real‐world conditions reveals a significant improvement in AD symptoms and quality of life in a range of severity and prior treatment failures. La evolución de la terapia antirretroviral ha generado un gran impacto en la sobrevida de los pacientes con infección por VIH produciendo un aumento en la presencia de comorbilidades no relacionadas al sida, tales como las enfermedades autoinmunitarias. Objetivo: Realizar una búsqueda actualizada de la información disponible respecto a las enfermedades autoinmunitarias y su presentación en pacientes con infección por el VIH. Materiales y métodos: Mediante una búsqueda avanzada en bases de datos de literatura médica desde enero 1989 hasta 2021 usando las palabras claves como VIH, manifestaciones reumáticas, autoinmunidad, únicamente literatura en ingles en pacientes mayores de 18 años. Resultados: Se encontró que las enfermedades autoinmunes tienen una mayor prevalencia en los pacientes con VIH en comparación con la población general, siendo reportado un 9% en estudios retrospectivos. La presentación de enfermedad autoinmune es mayor durante los estadios donde la carga viral es elevada y tiende a presentare de forma más variada por su traslape con enfermedad propia del VIH. Conclusiones: Esta revisión se enfocan en las características de presentación de las enfermedades reumáticas en la población con VIH, así como la discusión terapéutica para estos pacientes y el uso de terapia TAR.

El estudio de la Administración como ciencia y su contextualización en el terreno deportivo, es determinante en la actualidad para el éxito de los gestores deportivos. Si, con anterioridad, solo eran tenidos en cuenta determinados indicadores de juego en la evaluación del resultado de un equipo, hoy se abre el horizonte a otras perspectivas. Tal es el caso del empleo del Cuadro de Mando Integral (CMI), el cual se ha convertido poco a poco en herramienta para traducir la estrategia en acciones y para el control de la gestión en estas organizaciones. Su uso permite combinar la evaluación de resultados deportivos con aspectos como la motivación o preparación de atletas y técnicos; la percepción o satisfacción de los aficionados; el cumplimiento de la responsabilidad social, o los resultados financieros. Este artículo es fruto de las reflexiones, experiencias y revisión de la literatura, con un acercamiento al contexto del béisbol cubano.

Background Safety is an important consideration in decisions on treatment for patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis and the study of drug safety is the main purpose of the BIOBADADERM registry. The combination of a biologic agent and a conventional systemic drug [generally methotrexate (MTX)] is a common treatment in clinical practice. However, there is a paucity of evidence from real-world practice on the safety of such combination regimens in the treatment of psoriasis. Objectives The primary objective of this study was to ascertain whether the use of regimens combining biologic drugs with MTX in the management of moderate-to-severe psoriasis increases the risk of adverse events (AEs) or serious AEs (SAEs). We compared monotherapy using tumour necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin (IL)-17 and IL-23 inhibitors with the use of the same drugs in combination with MTX. Methods Using data from the BIOBADADERM registry, we compared biologic monotherapies with therapies that were combined with MTX. We estimated adjusted incidence rate ratios (aIRR) using a random effects Poisson regression with 95% confidence intervals for all AEs, SAEs, infections and serious infections and other AEs by system organ class. Results We analysed data from 2829 patients and 5441 treatment cycles, a total of 12 853 patient-years. The combination of a biologic with MTX was not associated with statistically significant increases in overall risk of AEs or SAEs in any treatment group. No increase in the total number of infections or serious infections in patients receiving combined therapy was observed for any group. However, treatment with a TNF inhibitor combined with MTX was associated with an increase in the incidence of gastrointestinal AEs (aIRR 2.50, 95% CI 1.57–3.98; P < 0.002). Conclusions The risk of AEs and SAEs was not significantly increased in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis receiving different classes of biologic drugs combined with MTX compared with those on biologic monotherapy. La colección de carteles de la Editora Política del Partido Comunista de Cuba es un fondo archivístico sin catalogar. Entre 2010 y 2013 se digitalizó y era necesario disponer de fuentes para identificar de manera completa cada obra. Historias, antologías y catálogos de exposiciones de carteles, a pesar de su utilidad, no son fuentes exhaustivas y no pudieron ayudar a identificar todo el fondo documental. Se tuvo que recurrir a fuentes en Internet. Se muestra la selección y descripción de los recursos digitales usados en la identificación de los carteles de la Editora Política.

El artículo identifica y describe las iniciativas que se pusieron en marcha en España para proporcionar lectura a los combatientes, prisioneros y heridos durante la Primera Guerra Mundial. Se dedica una atención especial a la labor desarrollada por las organizaciones que atendieron al contingente de voluntarios españoles que lucharon en el ejército francés. La documentación estudiada permite hacer una estimación de la cantidad de libros y publicaciones que cada iniciativa distribuyó. Se señalan también los objetivos que pretendían conseguir con la lectura enviada, así como la significación que ésta tuvo entre sus destinatarios.

Este artículo estudia la representación de la figura femenina en el cartel de contenido político y social, editado en Cataluña entre 1931 y 1939. Para ello se ha elaborado un censo exhaustivo con 172 obras y se ha realizado un análisis de contenido de su discurso visual. Los resultados obtenidos han permitido distinguir entre un uso simbólico de la figura femenina y la representación de lo que se ha denominado ‘mujer real’. El estudio de esta representación durante la Guerra Civil ha identificado tres arquetipos: ‘mujer-heroína’, ‘mujer-víctima’ y ‘mujer-trampa’.

Es presenten els resultats més rellevants d’una recerca, finançada pel Centre d’Història Contemporània de Catalunya, l’objectiu principal de la qual era estudiar l’evolució de la representació de la figura femenina en els cartells de caràcter polític i social, editats per institucions catalanes des de la instauració de la Segona República fins a l’acabament de la Guerra Civil. S’ha elaborat un cens que ha inclòs informació sobre 172 obres que contenien figures femenines. L’anàlisi sobre el contigut icònic i verbal ha permès identificar diversos arquetipus quant a la representació de la dona durant el període d’estudi.

Background: Methotrexate (MTX), a traditional antipsoriatic drug, is very frequently used either as monotherapy or in combination with other systemic drugs. Objectives: To assess the effectiveness and safety of MTX in psoriasis in usual clinical practice. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study. We performed an electronic and manual chart review of patients treated with MTX in the Psoriasis Unit of our Hospital from January 2007 to December 2014. Demographic and clinical data, PASI/DLQI scores and reasons for suspension of all patients treated with MTX in usual clinical practice were recorded. Results: Two hundred and eighteen patients were included. MTX was administered in 67% of cases as the first systemic treatment. The average treatment duration was 17.2 ± 13.6 months. All patients were subjected to clinical and laboratory monitoring. About 33.5% of them achieved a reduction of 75% or more of the initial PASI at week 12, 34.9% at week16, 44.7% at week 24, and 52.8% at week 48. A 3.3% had to discontinue the therapy due to analytical hepatic (2.8%) or renal (0.5%) abnormalities. Only one patient experienced severe interstitial pneumonitis and none required liver biopsy. Conclusions: MTX is an effective and safe option for the treatment of psoriasis in the real-world clinical practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents research which compared the effects of polyethylenimine (PEI) and maleated polypropylene (MAPP) coupling agents on the properties of cellulose-reinforced polypropylene composites. The study compared the properties of the composites with those of reference composites without a coupling agent or MAPP. It was found that the presence of PEI led to several occurrences including increase in the tensile and flexural strengths among others compared with those without agents.

Background: The lack of evidence under routine clinical settings limited the widespread adoption of adalimumab biosimilars for psoriasis treatment., Objective: This study compared the drug survival and safety of adalimumab biosimilars to Humira for psoriasis treatment., Methods: We conducted a prevalent new-user cohort study using data from the French National Health Data System (SNDS), the British Association of Dermatologists Biologics and Immunomodulators Register (BADBIR), and the Spanish Registry of Systemic Therapy in Psoriasis (BIOBADADERM). Adalimumab-naïve patients initiating adalimumab biosimilars (new users) were compared with Humira new users. Patients switching from Humira to biosimilars (switchers) were compared with those who continued Humira treatment. Patients were matched 1:1 based on previous adalimumab exposure time to create equal-sized cohorts of biosimilar and Humira users. Co-primary outcomes included drug discontinuation and serious adverse events (SAEs). Hazard ratios (HR) were calculated using Cox proportional hazard models. Meta-analyses using random effect models were performed to combine results from 3 databases., Results: 7387 biosimilar new users and 3654 switchers were matched and compared with Humira users. No differences in all-cause discontinuation were found between biosimilars and Humira new users (HR: 0.99, 95% CI: 0.94-1.04). Switching from Humira to biosimilars was associated with a higher discontinuation rate compared to remaining on Humira (HR: 1.35, 95% CI: 1.19-1.52). Similar results were observed for discontinuation due to ineffectiveness or adverse events. Risks of SAEs were similar between biosimilar new users and Humira new users (Incidence rate ratio IRR: 0.91, 95% CI: 0.80-1.05) or between switchers and continuous Humira users (IRR: 0.92, 95% CI: 0.83-1.01)., Conclusion: Adalimumab biosimilars can be considered viable alternatives to Humira for new patients with comparable effectiveness and safety. Background: Despite advances made in treatments for atopic dermatitis (AD), information on its impact and interaction with atopic comorbidities, such as asthma, rhinoconjunctivitis, and ocular disease is limited. This study aims to assess the clinical-epidemiological characteristics of patients with AD-treatment response included-while taking into consideration atopic comorbidities like these., Materials and Methods: Data were analyzed from the multicenter BIOBADATOP registry (a prospective cohort of AD patients initiating systemic treatment). We conducted a descriptive analysis of the main characteristics collected in the registry in relation to atopic comorbidity., Results: We included a total of 509 patients, mostly adults (81.9%) with severe AD (73.7%). Patients with personal atopic comorbidity (64%) more frequently exhibited flexural dermatitis (89.7% vs 81.5%), a higher mean of previous systemic treatments (1.6 vs. 1.3), and higher baseline values on the POEM scale (19.6 vs. 17.9). Patients with familial atopic comorbidity (40.7%) had a higher incidence of pediatric/adolescent patients (24.2% vs. 13.9%) and a history of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (61.1% vs. 47.1%). No differences regarding treatment response were observed at the 6- and 12-month follow-ups based on the presence or absence of atopic comorbidities., Conclusions: Results suggest that a history of atopic comorbidity is associated with an early onset and persistent course of AD. Background: The past 5 years have seen a proliferation of new treatments for atopic dermatitis (AD). We analyzed recent drug survival data for cyclosporine in this setting. Because the Spanish National Healthcare system requires patients with AD to be treated with cyclosporine before they can be prescribed other systemic treatments, drug survival for cyclosporine may be shorter than in other diseases., Material and Method: Multicenter, observational, prospective cohort study using data from the Spanish Atopic Dermatitis Registry (BIOBADATOP). Data from the Spanish Registry of Systemic Treatments in Psoriasis (BIOBADADERM) were used to create a comparison cohort., Results: We analyzed data for 130 patients with AD treated with cyclosporine (median drug survival, 1 year). Median cyclosporine survival in the psoriasis comparison group (150 patients) was 0.37 years. Drug survival was significantly longer in AD than in psoriasis (P<.001)., Conclusion: Drug survival of cyclosporine in the BIOBADATOP registry is similar to that described in other series of patients with AD and longer than that observed in the BIOBADADERM psoriasis registry., (Copyright © 2023 AEDV.
