Abstract The planthopper Nilaparvata muiri is a sister species to N. lugens (Hemiptera: Delphacidae), a notorious insect pest in Asian rice fields. N. muiri and N. lugens have a different host preference despite the similarities in many biological features. To better understand the adaptive evolution of planthoppers, comprehensive genomic information on N. muiri and N. lugens are urgently needed. In this study, we used ultra-low input PacBio HiFi libraries and Hi-C sequencing technologies to assemble a reference genome of a single N. muiri at the chromosomal level. The genome size was determined to be 531.62 Mb with a contig N50 size of 2.47 Mb and scaffold N50 size of 38.37 Mb. Totally, 96.61% assembled sequences were anchored to the 15 pseudo-chromosomes. BUSCO analysis yielded an Insecta completeness score of 98.6%. A total of 22,057 protein-coding genes were annotated, and 168.16 Mb repetitive sequences occupying 31.63% of genome were pinpointed. The assembled genome is valuable for evolutionary and genetic studies of planthoppers, and may provide sights to pest control.

Abstract Oriented rutile needles (ORNs) forming a triangular network on the cross sections of garnet crystals have been widely used together with omphacite inclusions as evidence for exsolution from a majoritic garnet and exhumation of the host rocks from great depths (>200 km) in the Earth. A coronitic eclogite at Yangkou in the Chinese Su‐Lu high‐pressure metamorphic belt contains ORNs that are only found in the reddish cores of garnet porphyroblasts. The texture formed by the ORNs is not restricted to garnet but extends into the coexisting other minerals, which together form pseudomorphs after augite. Therefore, the ORNs are not specifically related to the host garnet and cannot be exsolutions therefrom. The outer zones of the garnet porphyroblasts in contact with plagioclase pseudomorphs are pale and rutile‐free but contain minute inclusions of omphacite, quartz, kyanite, phengite, and K‐feldspar, typical of coronitic garnet between augite and plagioclase. Electron backscatter diffraction reveals no optimum matching of the low index crystallographic directions of rutile and garnet as required by an exsolution mechanism. On the other hand, the ORNs resemble the amorphous lamellae in quartz and zircon in meteorite and seismic shocked rocks, and are inferred to have crystallized earlier in seismic shocked augite and were then overgrown by the host minerals. By contrast, the rutile particles in garnet cataclasites in a nearby eclogite breccia display deformed and explosive patterns and random crystallographic orientations. All these observations are best explained by the seismic shock compression and rarefaction scenario proposed earlier.

Abstract The Bethylidae are the most diverse of Hymenoptera chrysidoid families. As external parasitoids, the bethylids have been widely adopted as biocontrol agents to control insect pests worldwide. Thus far, the genomic information of the family Bethylidae has not been reported yet. In this study, we crystallized into a high-quality chromosome-level genome of ant-like bethylid wasps Sclerodermus sp. ‘alternatusi’ (Hymenoptera: Bethylidae) using PacBio sequencing as well as Hi-C technology. The assembled S. alternatusi genome was 162.30 Mb in size with a contig N50 size of 3.83 Mb and scaffold N50 size of 11.10 Mb. Totally, 92.85% assembled sequences anchored to 15 pseudo-chromosomes. A total of 10,204 protein-coding genes were annotated, and 23.01 Mb repetitive sequences occupying 14.17% of genome were pinpointed. The BUSCO results showed that 97.9% of the complete core Insecta genes were identified in the genome, while 97.1% in the gene sets. The high-quality genome of S. alternatusi will not only provide valuable genomic information, but also show insights into parasitoid wasp evolution and bio-control application in future studies.

Objective: The purpose was to observe the anti-inflammatory effects of Dendrobium huoshanense polysaccharides (DHPs) on carrageenan-induced sterile air pouch synovitis. Materials and Methods: A total of 30 Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) mice were randomly and equally assigned to the control, carrageenan-induced air pouch synovitis model (model), and carrageenan-induced air pouch synovitis model + DHP (200 mg/kg of body weight) (model + DHP) groups. Mice in the model + DHP group were intragastrically administered 200 mg/kg BW of DHP solution daily for 10 days. Mice in the control and model groups were intragastrically administered the same amount of distilled water. Two hours after intragastric administration on day 10, 1 mL of a 1% carrageenan solution in a sterile 0.9% saline solution was injected into the air pouch of mice in the model and model + DHP groups. Six hours later, the mice were sacrificed and 4 mL of ice-cold sterile 0.9% saline solution was injected into the air pouch to fully wash its inner wall. The lavage fluid was collected to observe the color and turbidity of the lavage fluid, as well as the appearance of the backside of the air pouch. The exudate volume, total number of leukocytes, protein content, levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) activity of the lavage fluid were analyzed. Results: The results showed that pretreatment with DHPs reduced the carrageenan-induced exudate volume (P < 0.01), total leukocytes (P < 0.05), and protein content (P < 0.01) in the air pouch lavage fluid. Furthermore, mice in the model + DHP group had significantly higher (P < 0.01) T-SOD activity and lower MDA content (P < 0.05), IL-1β (P < 0.05), and TNF-α (P < 0.01) levels in the air pouch lavage fluid compared with the model group. Conclusion: It is concluded that DHPs partially alleviated carrageenan-induced sterile inflammation, and its mechanism may be related to reducing exudation and scavenging oxygen-free radicals, inhibiting lipid peroxidation, and reducing the level of the proinflammatory factors, such as IL-1β and TNF-α.

Summary: Wing polyphenism is found in a variety of insects and offers an attractive model system for studying the evolutionary significance of dispersal. The Forkhead box O (FoxO) transcription factor (TF) acts as a wing-morph switch that directs wing buds developing into long-winged (LW) or short-winged morphs in wing-dimorphic planthoppers, yet the regulatory mechanism of the FoxO module remains elusive. Here, we identified the zinc finger TF rotund as a potential wing-morph regulator via transcriptomic analysis and phenotypic screening in the brown plathopper, Nilaparvata lugens. RNA interference-mediated knockdown of rotund antagonized the LW development derived from in the context of FoxO depletion or the activation of the insulin/insulin-like growth factor signaling cascade, reversing long wings into intermediate wings. In vitro binding assays indicated that rotund physically binds to FoxO to form the FoxO combinatorial code. These findings broaden our understanding of the complexity of transcriptional regulation governing wing polyphenism in insects.

The molecular mechanisms underlying wing polyphenism remain poorly understood. Here the authors use plant hoppers to show that the development of long and short wing morphs is balanced by the relative activities of the Zfh1-FoxO and insulin signaling cascades.

Abstract Background A plethora of prognostic biomarkers for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) that have hitherto been reported are challenged with low reproducibility due to high molecular heterogeneity of ESCC. The purpose of this study was to identify the optimal biomarkers for ESCC using machine learning algorithms. Methods Biomarkers related to clinical survival, recurrence or therapeutic response of patients with ESCC were determined through literature database searching. Forty-eight biomarkers linked to recurrence or prognosis of ESCC were used to construct a molecular interaction network based on NetBox and then to identify the functional modules. Publicably available mRNA transcriptome data of ESCC downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) datasets included GSE53625 and TCGA-ESCC. Five machine learning algorithms, including logical regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), artificial neural network (ANN), random forest (RF) and XGBoost, were used to develop classifiers for prognostic classification for feature selection. The area under ROC curve (AUC) was used to evaluate the performance of the prognostic classifiers. The importances of identified molecules were ranked by their occurrence frequencies in the prognostic classifiers. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and log-rank test were performed to determine the statistical significance of overall survival. Results A total of 48 clinically proven molecules associated with ESCC progression were used to construct a molecular interaction network with 3 functional modules comprising 17 component molecules. The 131,071 prognostic classifiers using these 17 molecules were built for each machine learning algorithm. Using the occurrence frequencies in the prognostic classifiers with AUCs greater than the mean value of all 131,071 AUCs to rank importances of these 17 molecules, stratifin encoded by SFN was identified as the optimal prognostic biomarker for ESCC, whose performance was further validated in another 2 independent cohorts. Conclusion The occurrence frequencies across various feature selection approaches reflect the degree of clinical importance and stratifin is an optimal prognostic biomarker for ESCC.

Polysaccharides are important pharmacologically active substances found in the perennial orchid Dendrobium huoshanense. In the present study, we sought to determine whether antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms were involved in Dendrobium huoshanense polysaccharides (DHPs)-mediated protection from D-galactose-induced intestine injury in an aging rat model. The effects of DHPs on ileal antioxidant capacity, mucosal barrier integrity and the inflammatory response were investigated in D-galactose-treated rats. The results showed that DHP administration largely attenuated the D-galactose-induced malondialdehyde (MDA), interleukin (IL)-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, IL-4, IL-10, Toll-like receptor four and NF-κBp65 content increases and also markedly renewed the total antioxidant capacity and the claudin and occludin contents of ileal tissues from the D-galactose-treated rats. We also found that DHP more markedly affected the IL-6 and TNF-α levels than it did the IL-4 and IL-10 levels in the ileal tissues from the D-galactose-treated rats. These results suggest that DHPs can protect the rat ileum from D-galactose-induced injury by attenuating lipid peroxidation, improving antioxidant capacity and mucosal barrier integrity, correcting imbalanced inflammatory cytokine networks and suppressing the inflammatory response. The novel insights into the mechanism involved in DHPs protection of ileal health in our D-galactose-induced aging model rat advances current understanding of the aging process.

A single insulin receptor (InR) gene has been identified and extensively studied in model species ranging from nematodes to mice. However, most insects possess additional copies of InR, yet the functional significance, if any, of alternate InRs is unknown. Here, we used the wing-dimorphic brown planthopper (BPH) as a model system to query the role of a second InR copy in insects. NlInR2 resembled the BPH InR homologue (NlInR1) in terms of nymph development and reproduction, but revealed distinct regulatory roles in fuel metabolism, lifespan, and starvation tolerance. Unlike a lethal phenotype derived from NlInR1 null, homozygous NlInR2 null mutants were viable and accelerated DNA replication and cell proliferation in wing cells, thus redirecting short-winged-destined BPHs to develop into long-winged morphs. Additionally, the proper expression of NlInR2 was needed to maintain symmetric vein patterning in wings. Our findings provide the first direct evidence for the regulatory complexity of the two InR paralogues in insects, implying the functionally independent evolution of multiple InRs in invertebrates.

Wing polymorphism is an evolutionary feature found in a wide variety of insects, which offers a model system for studying the evolutionary significance of dispersal. In the wing-dimorphic planthopper Nilaparvata lugens, the insulin/insulin-like growth factor signaling (IIS) pathway acts as a 'master signal' that directs the development of either long-winged (LW) or short-winged (SW) morphs via regulation of the activity of Forkhead transcription factor subgroup O (NlFoxO). However, downstream effectors of the IIS-FoxO signaling cascade that mediate alternative wing morphs are unclear. Here we found that vestigial (Nlvg), a key wing-patterning gene, is selectively and temporally regulated by the IIS-FoxO signaling cascade during the wing-morph decision stage (fifth-instar stage). RNA interference (RNAi)-mediated silencing of Nlfoxo increase Nlvg expression in the fifth-instar stage (the last nymphal stage), thereby inducing LW development. Conversely, silencing of Nlvg can antagonize the effects of IIS activity on LW development, redirecting wing commitment from LW to the morph with intermediate wing size. In vitro and in vivo binding assays indicated that NlFoxO protein may suppress Nlvg expression by directly binding to the first intron region of the Nlvg locus. Our findings provide a first glimpse of the link connecting the IIS pathway to the wing-patterning network on the developmental plasticity of wings in insects, and help us understanding how phenotypic diversity is generated by the modification of a common set of pattern elements.

Nuclear factor Y (NF-Y) is a heterotrimeric transcription factor with the ability to bind to a CCAAT box in nearly all eukaryotes. However, the function of NF-Y in the life-history traits of insects is unclear. Here, we identified three NF-Y subunits, NlNF-YA, NlNF-YB, and NlNF-YC, in the wing-dimorphic brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens. Spatio-temporal analysis indicated that NlNF-YA, NlNF-YB, and NlNF-YC distributed extensively in various body parts of fourth-instar nymphs, and were highly expressed at the egg stage. RNA interference (RNAi)-mediated silencing showed that knockdown of NlNF-YA, NlNF-YB, or NlNF-YC in third-instar nymphs significantly extended the fifth-instar duration, and decreased nymph-adult molting rate. The addition of 20-hydroxyecdysone could specifically rescue the defect in adult molting caused by NlNF-YARNAi, indicating that NlNF-Y might modulate the ecdysone signaling pathway in the BPH. In addition, NlNF-YARNAi, NlNF-YBRNAi, or NlNF-YCRNAi led to small and moderately malformed forewings and hindwings, and impaired the normal assembly of indirect flight muscles. Adult BPHs treated with NlNF-YARNAi, NlNF-YBRNAi, or NlNF-YCRNAi produced fewer eggs, and eggs laid by these BPHs had arrested embryogenesis. These findings deepen our understanding of NF-Y function in hemipteran insects.

A six-wheel vehicle chassis scheme with a variable wheelbase is proposed to improve the lateral dynamic performance of vehicles. The yaw moment is varied by changing the wheelbase to enhance the lateral dynamic performance of the vehicle. A vehicle lateral dynamics model is established using this approach. The effects of the wheelbase variation on the lateral yaw rate gain, steering stability, and steering error are analysed via numerical calculations. A strategy for wheelbase variation under different working conditions is proposed to enhance the lateral dynamic performance. In addition, by studying the response of the vehicle to various lateral disturbance forces, it is verified that the wheelbase change can enhance the lateral anti-disturbance capability of the vehicle. The simulation verifies the effectiveness of the wheelbase change strategy under a variety of driving conditions.

At present, most of the drugs have little effect on the pathological process of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Analgesia is an important measure in the treatment of RA and is also one of the criteria to determine the therapeutic effects of the disease. Some studies have found that crocin, a kind of Chinese medicine, can effectively alleviate pain sensitization in pain model rats, but the mechanism is not clear. Emerging evidence indicates that crocin may inhibit the metastasis of lung and liver cancer cells from the breast by inhibiting Wnt/β-catenin and the Wnt signaling pathway is closely related to RA. Wnt5a belongs to the Wnt protein family and was previously thought to be involved only in nonclassical Wnt signaling pathways. Recent studies have shown that Wnt5a has both stimulatory and inhibitory effects on the classical Wnt signaling pathway, and so, Wnt5a has attracted increasing attention. This study demonstrated that crocin significantly increased the mechanical thresholds of adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) rats, suggesting that crocin can alleviate neuropathic pain. Crocin significantly decreased the levels of pain-related factors and glial activation. Foxy5, activator of Wnt5a, inhibited the above effects of crocin in AIA rats. In addition, intrathecal injection of a Wnt5a inhibitor significantly decreased hyperalgesia in AIA rats. This research shows that crocin may alleviate neuropathic pain in AIA rats by inhibiting the expression of pain-related molecules through the Wnt5a/β-catenin pathway, elucidating the mechanism by which crocin relieves neuropathic pain and provides a new way of thinking for the treatment of AIA pain.

The brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens, can develop into either short-winged (SW) or long-winged (LW) adults according to environmental conditions, and has long served as a model organism for exploring the mechanisms of wing polyphenism in insects. The transcription factor NlFoxO acts as a master regulator that directs the development of either SW or LW morphs, but the underlying molecular mechanism is largely unknown. Here, we microinjected SW-destined morphs with double stranded-RNA (dsRNA) targeting NlFoxO (dsNlFoxO) to change them into LW-winged morphs. In parallel, SW-destined morphs microinjected with dsRNA targeting the gene encoding green fluorescence protein (dsGfp) served as a negative control. The forewing and hindwing buds of 5th-instar nymphs collected at 24, 36, and 48 h after eclosion (hAE) were used for RNA sequencing. We obtained a minimum of 43.4 million clean reads from forewing and hindwing buds at a single developmental time. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were significantly enriched in various Gene Ontology (GO) terms, including cellular process, binding, and cell part. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment pathway analysis showed that up-regulated genes in dsNlFoxO-treated forewing and hindwing buds were largely associated with the cell cycle and DNA replication. Furthermore, most up-regulated genes displayed higher expression at 24-, and 36-hAE relative to 48 hAE, indicating that wing cells in LW-destined wings might actively proliferate during the first 36 h in 5th-instar nymphs. Our findings indicated that LW development in BPH was likely dependent on the duration of cell proliferation in the 5th-instar stage, which sheds light on the molecular basis of wing polymorphism in insects.

Histone acetylation is a specific type of chromatin modification that serves as a key regulatory mechanism for many cellular processes in mammals. However, little is known about its biological function in invertebrates. Here, we identified 12 members of histone deacetylases (NlHDACs) in the brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens. RNAi-mediated silencing assay showed that NlHdac1, NlHdac3 and NlHdac4 played critical roles in female fertility via regulating ovary maturation or ovipositor development. Silencing of NlHdac1 substantially increased acetylation level of histones H3 and H4 in ovaries, indicating NlHDAC1 is the main histone deacetylase in ovaries of BPH. RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis showed that knockdown of NlHdac1 impaired ovary development via multiple signalling pathways including the TOR pathway. Acoustic recording showed that males with NlHdac1 knockdown failed to make courtship songs, and thus were unacceptable to wild-type females, resulting in unfertilized eggs. Competition mating assay showed that wild-type females overwhelmingly preferred to mate with control males over NlHdac1-knockdown males. These findings improve our understanding of reproductive strategies controlled by HDACs in insects and provide a potential target for pest control.

BACKGROUND: The brown planthopper (BPH) Nilaparvata lugens (Stål) is one of the most serious insect pests of rice in Asia. However, little is known about the mechanisms responsible for the development, wing dimorphism and sex difference in this species. Genomic information for BPH is currently unavailable, and, therefore, transcriptome and expression profiling data for this species are needed as an important resource to better understand the biological mechanisms of BPH. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: In this study, we performed de novo transcriptome assembly and gene expression analysis using short-read sequencing technology (Illumina) combined with a tag-based digital gene expression (DGE) system. The transcriptome analysis assembles the gene information for different developmental stages, sexes and wing forms of BPH. In addition, we constructed six DGE libraries: eggs, second instar nymphs, fifth instar nymphs, brachypterous female adults, macropterous female adults and macropterous male adults. Illumina sequencing revealed 85,526 unigenes, including 13,102 clusters and 72,424 singletons. Transcriptome sequences larger than 350 bp were subjected to Gene Orthology (GO) and KEGG Orthology (KO) annotations. To analyze the DGE profiling, we mainly compared the gene expression variations between eggs and second instar nymphs; second and fifth instar nymphs; fifth instar nymphs and three types of adults; brachypterous and macropterous female adults as well as macropterous female and male adults. Thousands of genes showed significantly different expression levels based on the various comparisons. And we randomly selected some genes to confirm their altered expression levels by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE: The obtained BPH transcriptome and DGE profiling data provide comprehensive gene expression information at the transcriptional level that could facilitate our understanding of the molecular mechanisms from various physiological aspects including development, wing dimorphism and sex difference in BPH.

An O—H...Cl interaction links the water molecule to the dianion. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O—H...Cl, N—H...O and N—H...Cl interactions link the molecules into a three-dimensional network.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C8H6N8·2H2O, contains one half-molecule, with the benzene ring on a centre of symmetry, and two uncoordinated water molecules. The benzene ring is oriented at a dihedral angle of 34.43 (12)° with respect to the tetrazole ring. Strong O—H...N hydrogen bonds link the water molecules to the N atoms of the tetrazole ring. In the crystal structure, strong intermolecular O—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds link the molecules into a network. One of the water H atoms is disordered over two positions and was refined with occupancies of 0.50.

In the title compound, (C12H11N3)[SbCl5]·H2O, the SbIII centre is surrounded by five Cl atoms and displays a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The dihedral angle formed by the plane of the imidazole ring system with the pyridine ring is 4.380 (15)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by N—H...Cl, O—H...Cl and N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

The molecule of the title Schiff base, C16H15N3, is non-planar and displays a trans configuration with respect to the C=N double bond. The two benzene rings make a dihedral angle of 49.24 (3)°.

In the title compound, C9H12NO2+·Cl2PO2−, the molecular skeleton of the cation is nearly planar with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0336 Å. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds link cations and anions into chains running along [1overline{1}0].

In the title mononuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu(C14H9N2O)2], the CuII atom, situated on an inversion centre, shows a slightly distorted square-planar geometry and is coordinated by the N and O atoms from two deprotonated symmetry-related Schiff base ligands. The Cu—N and Cu—O bond lengths are 2.009 (2) and 1.888 (2) Å, respectively. The dihedral angle between the cyanophenyl rings and phenolate rings is 42.28 (13)°.

In the title compound, C13H15BF2N2, the two pyrrole rings are almost coplanar, with a dihedral angle of 3.08 (10)°. The BF2 plane is almost perpendicular to the boron–dipyrromethene ring plane, with a dihedral angle of 89.99 (7)°.

The molecule of the title compound, C14H10N2O, is nearly planar. There is a strong intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond between the imine and hydroxy groups. The configuration with respect to the C=N double bond is anti (1E).

In the title molecule, C14H10N2O, an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond contributes to the essential coplanarity of the two benzene rings, which form a dihedral angle of 6.04 (18)°.

In the title complex, [Ni(C14H9N2O)2], the NiII atom lies on an inversion center and is coordinated by the O atom and an N atom of two Schiff base 2-(3-cyanophenyliminomethyl)phenolate ligands in a square-planar geometry. The dihedral angle between the cyanophenyl and phenolate rings is 47.62 (7)°.

In the title compound, [Mn(C8H2NO6)(H2O)2]n, each pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxylate (tpc) ligand bridges two MnII ions with the formation of polymeric chains located on a twofold rotation axis. Each MnII ion is coordinated by two O and one N atoms from one tpc ligand, two O atoms from another ligand and two water molecules in a distorted pentagonal–bipyramidal geometry. The Mn—N [2.243 (2) Å] and Mn—O [2.206 (2)–2.3123 (16) Å] bond lengths are normal. The coordinated water molecules link neighbouring polymeric chains via O—H...O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional framework parallel to the bc plane.

The C[O.sub.2] template synthesis of ferric, aluminum(III), gallium(III) and indium(III) formates and their structure characterizations are described. The results have shown that the unprecedented C[O.sub.2] template synthesis has led to the unprecedented gallium formate and indium formate, which is an excellent precursor of metal oxides.

A green, low-cost and highly efficient surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate was achieved by a chemical deposition of silver nanoparticles on a cicada wing, which has the largescale nanosized protrusions on its surface. Employing the already-formed Ag/cicada wing as substrate for SERS detection, the detection limit for rhodamine 6G could reach 10-7M, the Raman enhancement factor of the substrate was as large as 106 and the relative standard deviation remains lower than 7%. The three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain simulation results showed that two types of inter-Ag-nanoparticle nanogaps in the formed geometry created a huge number of SERS "hot spots" where the electromagnetic field is substantially amplified and contributes to the higher SERS sensitivity. Meanwhile, the water contact angle of the SERS substrate is roughly 150°, which indicates the super-hydrophobic surface of the substrate. This feature may be conducive to the gathering of target molecules during the SERS detection, which in turn further improves the detection limit of target molecules. In order to improve the application of the substrate, thiram was used as the probe molecule, and the detection limit also reached 10-7 M. Meanwhile, the calibration of the Raman peak intensities of Rhodamine 6G and thiram allowed their quantitative detection. Therefore, the green and low-cost SERS substrates could be used for fast and quantitative detection of trace organic molecules. Objective: Toanalyze the effect of PCI treatment on blood WBC (White blood cell), CD40 L and cTnI (Cardiac Troponin I) levels and prognosis in patients with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction combined with arrhythmia at different time windows. Methods 87 patients with arrhythmia who were treated from January 2017 to January 2019 were seleted as the research objects. They were divided into≤3 h group, 3 to 6 h group, and 6 to 12 h group according to the PCI treatment time window. Patients were treated by PCI in all groups. The recanalization and reperfusion arrhythmia of patients after vascular occlusion were investigated. The WBC, cTnI, and CD40 L levels in patients' serum were measured at the time of enrollment and 24 hours after the end of treatment. Result The vascular recanalization rate was significantly different in the three groups, and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The vascular recanalization rate was the highest in the≤3 h group and the lowest in the 6-12 h group. There was a significant difference in the incidence of reperfusion arrhythmia among the three groups (P <0.05), of which the incidence rate was the highest in the ≤3 h group, and the time of the occurrence of reperfusion arrhythmia in the three groups was significantly different, and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The time of the occurrence of reperfusion arrhythmia was highest in the 6-12 h group, there was no significant difference in time between the ≤3 h group and the 3-6 h group (P> 0.05. There were significant differences in WBC, CD40L and cTnI levels in the three groups, and the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05). The serum WBC, CD40L and cTnI levels were highest in ≤ 3 h group, but there was no significant difference in WBC, CD40L and cTnI levels in the 3-6 h group and 6-12 group. Conclusion The best time window of PCI treatment is 3 ~ 6h in patients with arrhythmia, which can significantly improve the levels of serum WBC, CD40L and cTnI. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A large scale heterostructure array of ZnO nanowires/silicon nanoporous pillar array (Si-NPA) was prepared by a self-catalytic thermal evaporation and vapor-phase transport method, and an ultrahigh field emission current density of 1.55 mA cm-2 was obtained under an operating electric field of 4.0 V μm-1, with a low turn-on field of 1.65 V μm-1. The enhancement factor calculated according to the Fowler-Nordheim theory was ∼3141. The excellent field emission performance was attributed to the unique structure of ZnO/Si-NPA, especially the formation of ZnO nanowires on regular Si pillar array. Our work indicated that ZnO/Si-NPA might be an ideal candidate cathode of potential applications in flat panel displays and high brightness electron sources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Wing polymorphism contributes significantly to the success of a wide variety of insects. However, its underlying molecular mechanism is less well understood. The migratory planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens, is one of the most extensively studied insects for wing polymorphism, due to its natural features of short- and long-winged morphs. Using the BPH as an example, we first surveyed the environmental cues that possibly influence wing developmental plasticity. Second, we explained the molecular basis by which two insulin receptors (InR1 and InR2) act as switches to determine alternative wing morphs in the BPH. This finding provides an additional layer of regulatory mechanism underlying wing polymorphism in insects in addition to juvenile hormones. Further, based on a discrete domain structure between InR1 and InR2 across insect species, we discussed the potential roles by which they might contribute to insect polymorphism. Last, we concluded with future directions of disentangling the insulin signalling pathway in the BPH, which serves as an ideal model for studying wing developmental plasticity in insects.
