The influence of ion irradiation on intrinsic lattice stress and phase transition is closely related to the irradiation resistance of high‐entropy ceramics. In this study, the ion‐induced response of high‐entropy‐stabilized o‐(ZrHfTiSn)O2 ceramic was investigated under Au2+ irradiation with different fluences. The results revealed that high‐fluence irradiation caused the minimal (orthorhombic‐to‐triclinic) phase transformation underneath the ion‐induced amorphous layer via. fast fourier transformation (FFT) pattern. The cation recombination led to cation rearrangement followed by the increase of lattice expansion induced stress. The lattice stability of residual crystal grains in the mixed layer was significantly improved after lattice rearrangement. This was evidenced by the fact that the X‐ray diffraction profile of the lattice remained unchanged, whereas the selected area electron diffraction (SAED) image exhibited drastic variations with the increase of irradiation fluence. Therefore, irradiation‐induced lattice rearrangement seems to be a reliable way to improve radiation resistance of high‐entropy ceramics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lower‐band chorus waves are known to play dual roles in radiation belt dynamics (electron acceleration and precipitation), and understanding their properties and excitation is very important. A systematic study of chorus waves properties in terms of background plasma parameters (electron perpendicular beta β⊥ and the ratio of plasma frequency to electron cyclotron frequency fpe/fce) has not been performed previously. We use burst‐mode data from Van Allen Probe A from 2012 to 2019 and develop an algorithm to extract individual lower band rising tone chorus elements. We statistically analyze four properties of rising tone chorus elements: time duration τ, frequency width Δf, chirping rate Γ, and maximum amplitude Ia. Statistical results show typical properties of chorus waves: Ia ∼ 0.09 nT, Δf ∼ 0.08fce, Γ ∼ 2 × 103 Hz/s, τ ∼ 0.015–0.25 s. On the nightside and dawnside, Γ shows wider spread and is more distributed over larger values, which is associated with the wider distribution of β⊥. Chorus waves at duskside and dayside have larger values of τ, associated with smaller β⊥ and larger fpe/fce. The dependence of chorus wave properties on background plasma parameters is also examined. We show that normalized Δf has positive correlation with β⊥ and fpe/fce. Normalized τ shows negative correlation with β⊥ and positive correlation with fpe/fce. Normalized Γ and Ia show positive correlations with β⊥ and negative correlations with fpe/fce. These results help us better understand chorus waves excitation and their relation to the microburst. As a kind of efficient adsorptive material, hydrogel has a wide application prospect within different fields, owing to its unique 3D network structures composed of polymers. In this paper, different synthetic strategies, crosslinking methods and their corresponding limitations and outstanding contributions of applications in the fields of removing environmental pollutants are reviewed to further provide a prospective view of their applications in water resources sustainability. Furthermore, the applications within the biomedical field, especially in wound dressing, are also reviewed in this paper, mainly due to their unique water retention ability, antibacterial ability, and good biocompatibility. Graphene is attracting much attention in condensed matter physics and material science in the two-dimensional(2D) system due to its special structure, and mechanical and electronic properties. However, the lack of electronic bandgap and uncontrollable phase structure greatly limit its application in semiconductors, such as power conversion devices, optoelectronic devices, transistors, etc. During the past few decades, 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) with much more phase structures have attracted intensive research interest in fundamental studies and practical applications for energy storage, as catalysts, and in piezoelectricity, energy harvesting, electronics, optoelectronic, and spintronics. The controllable phase transition also provides another degree of freedom to pave the way for more novel devices. In this review, we introduce the abundant phase structures of 2D-TMDs, including 2H, 1T, 1T' and charge density waves, and highlight the corresponding attractive properties and applications of each phase. In addition, all the possible methods to trigger the phase transition in TMDs are systematically introduced, including strain engineering, electron doping, alloying, thermal, electric field, and chemical absorption. Ceramics have become indispensable materials for a wide range of industrial applications due to their excellent properties. However, the traditional preparation of ceramic materials is often time-consuming and involves high sintering temperatures. These result in considerable energy consumption and high production costs, which limit the application of these materials in some industries. This paper focuses on the advent of polymer-derived ceramics (PDCs) technology, which enabled the application of ceramics to fibers, composites, coatings, and films, mainly due to the excellent design, process, and low-temperature ceramic properties. We review and evaluate the important research progress made in polymer-derived ceramics technology in recent years and discuss its recent development into high-entropy ceramics. The development of polymer-derived ceramics technology in the field of high-entropy ceramics has broad research prospects, which can greatly improve the understanding and design of high-entropy materials and accelerate their application in the industrial field. With a switching drain bias, the gate reliability of Schottky-type ${p}$ -GaN gate high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) under AC positive gate bias stress has been systematically investigated. The mean-time-to-failure (MTTF) under such application-relevant stress is found to be prolonged compared to that extracted from static and AC gate bias stress tests with the absence of a switching drain bias and exhibits positive coefficients with frequency and OFF-state drain bias (${V} _{\text {DSQ}}$). Such results can be explained by the drain-induced hole insufficiency in the gate stack at large ${V} _{\text {DSQ}}$ , a physical mechanism that results in elevated energy band at ON-state when ${V} _{\text {DSQ}}$ is just switched to low voltage. This non-equilibrium transient status could suppress injection of electrons from the 2DEG channel to the ${p}$ -GaN gate, which in turn substantially weakens the hot-electron’s generation in the depleted ${p}$ -GaN layer and the subsequent bombardment to the gate-metal/ ${p}$ -GaN interface, and thus prolongs the gate lifetime. MXene (Ti3C2Tx) film prepared by vacuum-assisted filtration (V-MXene film) is the most common 2D MXene macroscopic assembly with ultra-high electrical conductivity, tunable interlayer space, diverse surface chemical properties, favorable mechanical properties and so on, showing great commercial value in the fields of energy storage, electromagnetic interference shielding and actuators and so on. This paper focuses on the preparation, properties and applications of V-MXene film, objectively reviews and evaluates the important research progress of V-MXene film in recent years and analyzes the main problems at present. In addition, the development direction and trend of V-MXene film in the future are prospected from the aspects of preparation, property control and application fields, which provide guidance and inspiration for the further development of functional MXene-based films and make contributions to the progress of MXene technology. As a highly integrated industrial system, human cyber-physical systems (HCPSs) provide accurate and high-quality services for Industry 5.0. In HCPSs, machine learning (ML) prediction provides reliable prediction results for users based on matured models, while security and privacy protection are considerable issues. In this article, based on the modified Okamoto–Uchiyama homomorphic encryption, we propose a verifiable privacy-preserving machine learning prediction scheme for the edge-enhanced HCPSs, which outputs the verifiable prediction results for users without privacy leakage. Specifically, a batch of prediction results can be verified at one time, which improves the efficiency of verification. Security analysis shows that our scheme protects the privacy of inputs, ML model, and prediction results. The experiment results demonstrate that the edge computing architecture remarkably alleviates the computational burden of the cloud server. Furthermore, compared with other related schemes, our scheme shows the best execution efficiency, and batch verification optimizes the performance by about 15% compared with single verification on the same scale. Lung cancer is a major cause of cancer-related deaths globally, with a dismal prognosis. N7-methylguanosine (m7G) is essential for the transcriptional phenotypic modification of messenger RNA (mRNA) and long noncoding RNA (lncRNA). However, research on m7G-related lncRNAs involved in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) regulation is still limited. Herein, we aim to establish a prognostic model of m7G-related lncRNAs and investigate their immune properties. Eight prognostic m7G-related lncRNAs were identified using univariate Cox analysis. Six m7G-related lncRNAs were identified using LASSO-Cox regression analysis to construct risk models, and all LUAD patients in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohort was divided into low-risk and high-risk subgroups. The accuracy of the model was verified by Kaplan-Meier analysis, time-dependent receiver operating characteristic, principal component analysis, independent prognostic analysis, nomogram, and calibration curve. Further studies were conducted on the gene set enrichment and disease ontology enrichment analyses. The gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) revealed that the high-risk group enriched for cancer proliferation pathways, and the enrichment analysis of disease ontology (DO) revealed that lung disease was enriched, rationally explaining the superiority of the risk model. Finally, we found that the low-risk group had higher immune infiltration and checkpoint expression. It can be speculated that the low-risk group has a better effect on immunotherapy. Susceptibility to antitumor drugs in different risk subgroups was assessed, and it found that the high-risk group showed high sensitivity to first-line treatment drugs for non-small cell lung cancer. In conclusion, a risk model based on 6 m7G-related lncRNAs can not only predict the overall survival (OS) rate of LUAD patients but also guide individualized treatment for these patients. Treatment of triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains challenging due to a lack of effective targeted therapies. Dysregulated glucose uptake and metabolism are essential for TNBC growth. Identifying the molecular drivers and mechanisms underlying the metabolic vulnerability of TNBC is key to exploiting dysregulated cancer metabolism for therapeutic applications. Mitogen‐inducible gene‐6 (MIG‐6) has long been thought of as a feedback inhibitor that targets activated EGFR and suppresses the growth of tumors driven by constitutive activated mutant EGFR. Here, our bioinformatics and histological analyses uncover that MIG‐6 is upregulated in TNBC and that MIG‐6 upregulation is positively correlated with poorer clinical outcomes in TNBC. Metabolic arrays and functional assays reveal that MIG‐6 drives glucose metabolism reprogramming toward glycolysis. Mechanistically, MIG‐6 recruits HAUSP deubiquitinase for stabilizing HIF1α protein expression and the subsequent upregulation of GLUT1 and other HIF1α‐regulated glycolytic genes, substantiating the comprehensive regulation of MIG‐6 in glucose metabolism. Moreover, our mouse studies demonstrate that MIG‐6 regulates GLUT1 expression in tumors and subsequent tumor growth in vivo. Collectively, this work reveals that MIG‐6 is a novel prognosis biomarker, metabolism regulator, and molecular driver of TNBC. The threshold voltage (VTH) of an enhancement-mode Schottky-type p-GaN gate high-electron-mobility transistor (HEMT) is found to have a special dependence on the drain bias. The device commonly requires higher gate voltage to switch on the transistor from a high-drain-voltage off-state than what is expected from the static device characteristics. The reason behind the dynamic VTH has been proved to be the floating p-GaN layer, where charges could be stored and further influence VTH under different drain bias. In this article, a SPICE-compatible equivalent circuit model is presented according to the structure of Schottky-type p-GaN gate HEMTs. It features a floating node to imitate the charge storage process within the gate stack. Compared to conventional models, the proposed model could accurately predict the dynamic VTH characteristics and switching behaviors of power electronics circuits, where Schottky-type p-GaN gate HEMTs are deployed as power transistors. The phenomena related to the dynamic VTH, including the disappearance of Miller plateau, the overestimated false-turn-on problem, and the higher reverse conduction loss are evaluated with a half-bridge circuit and the merits of the proposed model are verified. Background: The incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) has been increasing worldwide in recent years. Targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs) in CRC remains a difficult challenge. KDM2B and EZH2 play important role in the maintenance of CSCs' self-renewal capacity and tumorigenic ability; however, the biological functions of those genes in CRC remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to define the contribution of the expression of KDM2B in the features of CRC and establish the relationship between KDM2B and EZH2 in colorectal CSCs. Methods: The expression of KDM2B and EZH2 in the specimens of CRC and CRC cell lines were analyzed by immunohistochemistry, Western blot, and immunofluorescence. The underlying mechanisms of altered expressions of KDM2B and EZH2 and their impact on the biologic features of CRC and stemness in CRC were investigated. Results: The KDM2B gene was highly expressed in CRC tissues, and its overexpression positively correlated with tumor stages and tumor/node/metastasis (TNM) classification. The downregulation of KDM2B retarded cell proliferation, induced DNA damage, reduced spheroid formation, and decreased CRC stem cell markers: CD44, CD133, and ALDH-1. Moreover, the downregulation of KDM2B decreased the expression of EZH2 and both regulated cell migration, invasion, and stemness in the CRC cell line. Additionally, the interaction between KDM2B and EZH2 significantly increased the components of the PI3K/AKT pathway including AKT and PI3K. The high expression of KDM2B positively correlated with EZH2 in CRC tissues. Conclusion: This study shows that the downregulation of KDM2B and EZH2 can regulate CRC cell stemness, and their interaction may serve as a novel prognostic marker and therapeutic target for patients with CRC. Background. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most common causes of sudden death with high morbidity in recent years. This paper is aimed at exploring the early peripheral blood biomarkers of sudden death and providing a new perspective for clinical diagnosis and forensic pathology identification by integrated bioinformatics analysis. Methods. Two microarray expression profiling datasets (GSE113079 and GSE31568) were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and we identified differentially expressed lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs in CAD. Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG pathway analyses of DEmRNAs were executed. A protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed, and hub genes were identified. Finally, we constructed a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulation network among lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs. Also, the 5 miRNAs of the ceRNA network were verified by RT-PCR. Results. In total, 86 DElncRNAs, 148 DEmiRNAs, and 294 DEmRNAs were dysregulated in CAD. We received 12 GO terms and 5 pathways of DEmRNAs. 31 nodes and 78 edges were revealed in the PPI network. The top 10 genes calculated by degree method were identified as hub genes. Moreover, there were a total of 26 DElncRNAs, 5 DEmiRNAs, and 13 DEmRNAs in the ceRNA regulation network. We validated the 5 miRNAs of the ceRNA network by RT-PCR, which were consistent with the results of the microarray. Conclusions. In this paper, a CAD-specific ceRNA network was successfully constructed, contributing to the understanding of the relationship among lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs. The ubiquitin ligase RNF8 is known to induce epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal (EMT) transition and metastasis in triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC). Besides EMT, Rho GTPases have been shown as key regulators in metastasis. In this study, we investigated the role of RNF8 in regulating Rho GTPases and cell motility. We find that RNF8 knockdown in TNBC cells attenuates the protein and mRNA levels of Ras homolog family member A (RHOA) and cell division cycle 42 (CDC42). We show that the formation of filopodia, focal adhesions, and the association of focal adhesions to stress fibers is impaired upon RNF8 knockdown. Cell migration is significantly inhibited by RNF8 knockdown. Our study suggests a potential novel role for RNF8 in mediating cell migration in TNBC through regulation of the Rho GTPases RHOA and CDC42. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

By deploying a surface reinforcement layer (SRL) at the interface between Schottky metal and ${p}$ -GaN in the gate stack, a ${p}$ -GaN gate high-electron-mobility transistor (HEMT) with enhanced gate reliability is demonstrated. Prior to the gate metal deposition, the SRL is formed by an oxygen-plasma treatment and a subsequent high-temperature annealing process (at 800 °C) that enables surface reconstruction. Such a process converts several nanometers of ${p}$ -GaN near the surface into a crystalline GaON layer, which exhibits stronger immunity to hot electron bombardment. With nearly identical threshold voltage and ON -resistance, the ${p}$ -GaN gate HEMT with SRL yields two orders of magnitude reduction in gate leakage current at ON -state and an increase from 10.5 V to 12.7 V in forward gate breakdown voltage. Time-dependent gate breakdown measurement reveals an increase from 5.9 V to 7.8 V in the maximum ON -state gate drive voltage for a 10-year lifetime with a 1 % gate failure rate, which effectively expands the operating voltage margin of the ${p}$ -GaN gate power HEMT. Systematic characterizations of a cascode device with a low-voltage enhance-mode (E-mode) p-GaN gate high-electron mobility transistor as the control device and a high-voltage (HV) depletion-mode (D-mode) silicon carbide junction field effect transistor (JFET) as the voltage blocking device are presented in this article. The demonstrated device with a breakdown voltage rating of 1200 V and a static on-resistance (RON) of 100 mΩ features small device capacitances with fast switching speed, avalanche breakdown capability, thermally stable threshold voltage (VTH), and no dynamic RON degradation. To identify its safe operation in the off-state with a high drain bias, the off-state middle point voltage (VM) between the E-mode device drain and D-mode device source is investigated. A relatively low off-state VM is achieved under both static and dynamic modes. In addition to the device-level characterization, a custom-designed double-pulse test circuit is built to evaluate the transient switching performance of the cascode device. Optimal gate drive conditions are proposed to 1) overcome the drain bias induced positive dynamic VTH shift; and 2) suppress the increased dynamic off-state leakage current (IOFF) induced by on-state hole injection. Under 800 V/16 A testing conditions, high switching speed with the drain voltage peak slew rates of 72 V/ns during turn-on and 121 V/ns during turn-off is achieved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nanomaterials have achieved several breakthroughs in the capture of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) over the past decades. However, artificial fabrication of label‐free nanomaterials used for high‐efficiency CTC capture is still a challenge. Through billions of years of evolution and natural selection, various complicated and precise hierarchical structures are developed. Here, a novel fish trap‐like "nanocage" structure derived from the natural Chrysanthemum pollen is reported and a nanocage‐featured film for the label‐free capture of CTCs and CTC clusters is constructed. The nanocage‐featured film effectively captures 92% rare cancer cells with a broad spectrum of cancer types, due to the synergistic effect of nanocage‐CTC filopodia matching, high contact area, and strong adhesion force between the cancer cells and the nanocage. Furthermore, the nanocage‐featured film successfully detects CTCs and CTC clusters in 2 or 4 mL blood taken from 21 cancer patients (stages I–IV) suffering from various types of cancers. This novel, abundant, and economical fish trap‐like "nanocage" may provide new perspectives for the application of natural nanomaterials in clinical CTC capture and analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HUWE1 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that is involved in cancer cell proliferation by regulating MCL‐1 stability. The HECT domain has been shown to be required for the ubiquitin ligase activity of HUWE1. To identify efficient drugs that impair the activity of HUWE1, and thus decrease MCL‐1 accumulation, we screened 2000 candidate compounds that might suppress HUWE1 activity. To evaluate these 2000 candidates, the HECT domain of HUWE1, which is the catalytic domain responsible for MCL1 ubiquitination, was selected as a conjugation site, and putative binding candidates were filtrated. Tobramycin emerged as one of the compounds that show efficient binding ability with the HECT domain of HUWE1. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) results validated the specific binding of Tobramycin with the HECT domain. Subsequent analyses demonstrated its potential to inhibit cancer cell proliferation by binding to the HECT domain of HUWE1 and impeding the HUWE1‐mediated ubiquitination of MCL‐1. Consequently, the accumulation of MCL‐1 inhibited the proliferation of tumour cells, while the apoptosis rates were not significantly altered after Tobramycin treatment. In vitro experiments showed that Tobramycin could inhibit cell proliferation by regulating the G2/M transition in cancer cell models, including A549 and HeLaCaco2 cell lines. The low-temperature gate reliability of Schottky-type p-GaN gate AlGaN/GaN heterojunction field-effect transistors under forward gate voltage stress is investigated. Both temperature-accelerated and voltage-accelerated time-dependent gate breakdown stress experiments are performed. The p-GaN gate exhibits a shorter time-to-failure at a lower temperature. It is found that the time-to-failure at "use conditions" predicted by acceleration tests at high gate bias stress could be overestimated at low temperatures. Such a discrepancy stems from the distinct dominant gate leakage mechanisms at high/low gate bias stress conditions. The dominant physical mechanism of the low-temperature gate leakage current is identified to be Poole–Frenkel emission at low gate bias and Fowler–Nordheim tunneling at high bias. Introduction: While type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been associated with increased all-cause mortality among women diagnosed with breast cancer (BC), the association between T2D and breast cancer-specific (BCS) mortality is unresolved. The goal of this study was to examine the association between T2D and BCS mortality and examine the influence of metformin treatment on mortality rates. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted between 2002 and 2008 at Emory University Hospitals among non-Hispanic black and white women who had confirmed diagnosis of stage I-III BC and known diabetes status (T2D: n = 73; non-T2D: n = 514). Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Results: Compared to non-T2D patients, T2D women had almost a 2-fold increase in BCS mortality after adjusting for covariates (HR = 2.01; 95%CI = 1.02–3.98). Though attenuated, the increased hazard of death was also observed for all-cause mortality (HR = 1.74; 95%CI = 1.06–2.87). T2D patients who were not on metformin had substantially higher hazard of BCS mortality compared to non-diabetic patients (HR = 4.54; 95%CI = 1.98–10.44), whereas the association among T2D patients treated with metformin was weak (HR = 1.20; 95%CI = 0.36–3.97) and included the null. Conclusions: Among women with BC, T2D is associated with increased BCS mortality. Metformin treatment for T2D during the initial diagnosis of BC may improve outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
