The influence of free convection flow on unsteady Casson fluid over a vertical channel is studied in this paper. The governing equation consists of partial differential momentum and energy equations have been transformed into non-dimensional equations by using the appropriate nondimensional variables. The expression of exact solutions for nondimensional velocity and temperature profiles are obtained by using the Laplace transform method. The obtained exact solutions are found satisfied all the initial and boundary conditions. The behaviour of velocity and temperature profiles influenced by Casson fluid parameter, Grashof number, Prandtl number and time are plotted graphically and presented in tables. It can be observed that, the velocity profile and boundary layer thickness decrease when the values of Casson fluid parameter and Prandtl number increase. This is due to the increase of viscous force and retard the movement of the velocity. The present result is validated when the obtained exact solution of velocity is compared with published result and found in a good agreement.

The boundary layer heat and mass transfer flow of Casson nanofluid over a stretching sheet with constant wall temperature (CWT) under the magnetic field and thermal radiation effects is investigated numerically. Using similarity transformations, the governing equations are reduced to a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs). These equations are solved numerically by Shooting method. The effects of Casson parameter, magnetic parameter, porosity parameter, radiation parameter, Prandtl number, Brownian parameter and thermophoresis parameter on velocity, temperature and concentration fields are shown graphically and discussed. The results show that increase in Casson parameter causes the wall temperature increase well in the nanofluid.

This theoretical study investigated the effect of thermophysical properties on Nusselt number when the magnetic field and thermal radiation are exposed to the ferrofluid flow at the lower stagnation point of a hot sphere surface. The thermophysical properties are important mechanisms considered in the heat transfer process. Besides, the ferroparticles volume fraction is one of the variables that can enhance the thermophysical properties that are exclusively studied on thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of ferrofluid. Therefore, the correlation between the ferroparticles volume fraction and thermophysical properties is measured by the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient method. The strength of association and the direction of the relationship between these pertinent variables are exhibited in ferrofluid flow composed of magnetite (Fe3O4) and water (H2O). Regression analysis is implemented to predict the effect of the ferroparticles volume fraction on the Nusselt number. The results show a positive correlation between ferroparticles volume fraction and thermal conductivity as well as between ferroparticles volume fraction and thermal diffusivity. Furthermore, a simple linear regression model proposed to predict the Nusselt number when increasing the ferroparticles volume fraction resulted in statistically significant and given minuscule residuals value. Unsteady axial symmetric flows of an incompressible and electrically conducting Casson fluid over a vertical cylinder with time-variable temperature under the influence of an external transversely magnetic field are studied. The thermal transport is described by a generalized mathematical model based on the time-fractional differential equation of Cattaneo's law with the Caputo derivative. In this way, our model is able to highlight the effect of the temperature gradient history on heat transport and fluid motion. The generalized mathematical model of thermal transport can be particularized to obtain the classical Cattaneo's law and the classical Fourier's law. The comparison of the three models could offer the optimal model of heat transport. The problem solution has been determined in the general case when cylinder surface temperature is described by a function f(t); therefore, the obtained solutions can be used to study different convective flows over a cylinder. In the particular case of surface temperature varying exponentially in time, it is found that fractional models lead to a small temperature rise according to the Cattaneo model. In this paper, the theoretical study on the laminar boundary-layer flow of ferrofluid with influences of magnetic field and thermal radiation is investigated. The viscosity of ferrofluid flow over a solid sphere surface is examined theoretically for magnetite volume fraction by using boundary-layer equations. The governing equations are derived by applied the non-similarity transformation then solved numerically by utilizing the Keller-box method. It is found that the increments in ferroparticles (Fe3O4) volume fraction declines the fluid velocity but elevates the fluid temperature at a sphere surface. Consequently, the results showed viscosity is enhanced with the increase of the ferroparticles volume fraction and acts as a pivotal role in the distribution of velocity, temperature, reduced skin friction coefficient, and reduced Nusselt number of ferrofluid. In this article the idea of time fractional derivatives in Caputo sense is used to study memory effects on the behavior of nanofluids because some physical processes complex visco-elasticity, behavior of mechatronic and rheology are impossible to described by classical models. In present attempt heat and mass transfer of nanofluids (sodium alginate (SA) carrier fluid with graphene nanoparticles) are tackled using fractional derivative approach. Exact solutions are determined for temperature, concentration and velocity field, and Nusselt number via Laplace transform technique. The obtained solutions are then expressed in terms of wright function or its fractional derivatives. Numerical solutions for velocity, temperature, concentration and Nusselt number are obtained using finite difference scheme. It is found that these solutions are significantly controlled by the variations of parameters including thermal Grashof number, fractional parameter and nanoparticles volume fraction. It is observed that rate of heat transfer increases with increasing nanoparticles volume fraction and Caputo time fractional parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Applications of carbon nanotubes, single walls carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multiple walls carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in thermal engineering have recently attracted significant attention. However, most of the studies on CNTs are either experimental or numerical and the lack of analytical studies limits further developments in CNTs research particularly in channel flows. In thiswork, an analytical investigation is performed on heat transfer analysis of SWCNTs and MWCNTs for mixed convection Poiseuille flow of a Casson fluid along a vertical channel. These CNTs are suspended in three different types of base fluids (Water, Kerosene and engine Oil). Xue [Phys. B Condens. Matter 368, 302–307 (2005)] model has been used for effective thermal conductivity of CNTs. A uniform magnetic field is applied in a transverse direction to the flow as magnetic field induces enhancement in the thermal conductivity of nanofluid. The problem is modelled by using the constitutive equations of Casson fluid in order to characterize the non-Newtonian fluid behavior. Using appropriate non-dimensional variables, the governing equations are transformed into the non-dimensional form, and the perturbation method is utilized to solve the governing equations with some physical conditions.Velocity and temperature solutions are obtained and discussed graphically. Expressions for skin friction and Nusselt number are also evaluated in tabular form. Effects of different parameters such as Casson parameter, radiation parameter and volume fraction are observed on the velocity and temperature profiles. It is found that velocity is reduced under influence of the exterior magnetic field. The temperature of single wall CNTs is found greater than MWCNTs for all the three base fluids. Background: Non-coaxial rotation has wide applications in engineering devices, e.g. in food processing such as mixer machines and stirrers with a two-axis kneader, in cooling turbine blades, jet engines, pumps and vacuum cleaners, in designing thermal syphon tubes, and in geophysical flows. Therefore, this study aims to investigate unsteady free convection flow of viscous fluid due to non-coaxial rotation and fluid at infinity over an oscillating vertical plate with constant wall temperature. Methods: The governing equations are modelled by a sudden coincidence of the axes of a disk and the fluid at infinity rotating with uniform angular velocity, together with initial and boundary conditions. Some suitable non-dimensional variables are introduced. The Laplace transform method is used to obtain the exact solutions of the corresponding non-dimensional momentum and energy equations with conditions. Solutions of the velocity for cosine and sine oscillations as well as for temperature fields are obtained and displayed graphically for different values of time ( t ), the Grashof number ( Gr), the Prandtl number ( $$\Pr $$ ), and the phase angle ( $$\omega t$$ ). Skin friction and the Nusselt number are also evaluated. Results: The exact solutions are obtained and in limiting cases, the present solutions are found to be identical to the published results. Further, the obtained exact solutions also validated by comparing with results obtained by using Gaver-Stehfest algorithm. Soret effects on unsteady mixed-convection heat-and-mass-transfer flow over an oscillating vertical plate embedded in a porous medium with Newtonian heating in the presence of magnetic field are studied. The governing equations, along with imposed initial and boundary conditions, are first converted into the dimensionless form and then solved using the Laplace transform technique. The numerical results for fluid velocity, temperature and concentration are graphically shown, whereas the skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are presented in tabular forms. It is observed that the fluid velocity and concentration increase with increasing values of Soret number. The conjugate parameter of Newtonian heating increases the temperature as well as the concentration and velocity distributions. This article investigates heat transfer enhancement in free convection flow of Maxwell nanofluids with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) over a vertically static plate with constant wall temperature. Two kinds of CNTs i.e. single walls carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multiple walls carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are suspended in four different types of base liquids (Kerosene oil, Engine oil, water and ethylene glycol). Kerosene oil-based nanofluids are given a special consideration due to their higher thermal conductivities, unique properties and applications. The problem is modelled in terms of PDE's with initial and boundary conditions. Some relevant non-dimensional variables are inserted in order to transmute the governing problem into dimensionless form. The resulting problem is solved via Laplace transform technique and exact solutions for velocity, shear stress and temperature are acquired. These solutions are significantly controlled by the variations of parameters including the relaxation time, Prandtl number, Grashof number and nanoparticles volume fraction. Velocity and temperature increases with elevation in Grashof number while Shear stress minimizes with increasing Maxwell parameter. A comparison between SWCNTs and MWCNTs in each case is made. Moreover, a graph showing the comparison amongst four different types of nanofluids for both CNTs is also plotted.
