Resumen Introducción. El carcinoma similar al linfoepitelioma (LELC por sus siglas en inglés) es una variante de tumor muy infrecuente y agresiva, llamado así por su similitud histológica con linfoepiteliomas nasofaríngeos. Presentación del caso. Hombre de 60 años que fue remitido al servicio de urología de un hospital público en la ciudad de Madrid (España) por una tumoración en el pene de 2 cm de diámetro de aproximadamente dos años de evolución. El análisis histopatológico reveló un tumor de crecimiento endofítico que ocupaba la porción ventral del glande, que infiltraba el meato uretral, cuerpo cavernoso, cuerpo esponjoso y uretra. Se decidió tratamiento quirúrgico (penectomía parcial) sin tratamiento neoadyuvante. El examen histológico confirmó el diagnóstico de carcinoma similar al linfoepitelioma de uretra. Conclusión. El carcinoma similar al linfoepitelioma es un tumor poco frecuente en el aparato urinario y su aparición en el pene es excepcional. Cuando se localiza en esta zona el tratamiento generalmente combina cirugía y quimioterapia, y tiene buen pronóstico y mejores tasas de respuesta cuanto mayor es el componente linfoide en el tumor.

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have deficits that affect their social relationships, communication, and flexibility in reasoning. There are different types of treatment (pharmacological, educational, psychological, and rehabilitative). Currently, one way to address this problem is by using robotic systems to address the abilities that are altered in these children. The aim of this review will be to analyse the effectiveness of the incorporation of the different robotic systems currently existing in the treatment of children up to 10 years of age diagnosed with autism. A systematic review has been carried out in the PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Dialnet databases, with the following descriptors: child, autism, and robot. The search yielded 578 papers, and nine were selected after the application of the PRISMA guideline. The quality of the studies was analysed with the PEDRo scale, and only those with a score between four and six were selected. From this study, the conclusion is that the use of robots, in general, improves children’s behaviour in the short term, but longer-term experiences are necessary to achieve more conclusive results.

The reset control is a simple nonlinear control approach where the states of the controller are conducted to zero when a particular condition is satisfied. The PI+CI is a controller that mixes the simplicity of PI controllers with the benefits of a reset action to mitigate the fundamental limitations of linear control. However, the tuning of this kind of controller, with three parameters, two for the linear part and one for the nonlinear one, is not trivial. In this paper, simple tuning rules for PI+CI are proposed for both tracking and regulation problems, assuming first-order dynamics for the plant. The resulting control scheme, for which the reset coefficient is computed from exponential functions, is simulated and compared with an ideal PI+CI where the reset coefficient is obtained using rules available in the literature. Similar results are obtained for the tracking problem, and optimal performance based on the Integral Absolute Error (IAE) is also obtained for the regulation problem. These new rules, in contrast to those already existing in the literature, depend only on closed-loop specifications. Furthermore, the framework based on the minimization of IAE, used to obtain the proposed rules, makes it possible to consider for the first time the tracking and regulation problems simultaneously, i.e., cases where setpoint changes and disturbance arrivals can occur at the same time before reaching a new steady state. The results are validated using a set of study cases.

Development of applications related to closed-loop control requires either testing on the field or on a realistic simulator, with the latter being more convenient. To ease that need, this work introduces MVSim, a simulator for multiple vehicles or robots capable of running in real time dozens of agents in simple scenarios, or a handful of them in complex scenarios. MVSim employs realistic physics-grounded friction models for tire–ground interaction, and aims at accurate and GPU-accelerated simulation of most common modern sensors employed in mobile robotics and autonomous vehicle research, such as depth and RGB cameras, or 2D and 3D LiDAR scanners. All depth-related sensors are able to accurately measure distances to 3D models provided by the user to define custom world elements. Efficient simulation is achieved by means of focusing on ground vehicles, which allows the use of a simplified 2D physics engine for body collisions while solving wheel–ground interaction forces separately. The core parts of the system are written in C++ for maximum efficiency, while Python, ROS 1, and ROS 2 wrappers are also offered. A custom publish/subscribe protocol based on ZeroMQ (ZMQ) is defined to allow for multiprocess applications to access or modify a running simulation. This simulator enables and makes easier to do research and development on vehicular dynamics, autonomous navigation algorithms, and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) methods. An experimental performance benchmarking is provided against other state-of-the-art simulators showing significant less CPU usage. Abstract The aim of this study is to evaluate the Nicaraguan screening program for congenital hypothyroidism in terms of coverage and effectiveness of detection and confirmation of cases with the condition throughout a decade. Thyrotropin was quantified in cord-blood samples by a validated ELISA and a cut-off of 20 mU/l was applied. Coverage, positive predictive value, recall rate and prevalence were retrospectively analysed. Babies with positive screening results were contacted for confirmation by means of determination of thyrotropin and thyroid profile in serum samples. 272,338 babies were screened during the period 2005-2015. The mean coverage reached by the program in the participating departments was 71%, with a positive predictive value of 83% and a recall rate of 0.055%. Eighty cases of congenital hypothyroidism were identified, representing an incidence of 1 in 3229 live births, most of them (81%) being severe. The performance of the Nicaraguan screening program is comparable to those in Latin America also using cord-blood samples. The incidence of congenital hypothyroidism is within the low range of other countries worldwide. Strategies are needed to expand the program to the whole country, improve recall rates and achieve earlier treatment of babies, with the condition.

The main motivation of the use of robotics in these studies deals with the following issues: robotics permits to put in practice many computer science fundamental topics, it is a multidisciplinary area which allows to complete the basic knowledge of any computer science student, it facilitates the practice and learning of basic competences of any engineer (for instance, teamwork), and there is a wide market looking for people with robotics knowledge. These ideas are discussed from our own experience in the University of Almeria acquired through the studies of Computer Science Technical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Computer Science Degree and Computer Science Postgraduate.

La justificación de la presencia de la robótica en estos estudios se sustenta en cuatro pilares: la robótica permite poner en práctica conocimientos propios de la informática, es una herramienta multidisciplinar que permite completar la formación de cualquier estudiante de informática, facilita la puesta en práctica y adquisición de competencias básicas del ingeniero (como por ejemplo la de trabajo en equipo), y existe un mercado amplio y emergente para cubrir puestos de trabajo relacionados con ella. Estas ideas se describen y discuten desde la experiencia adquirida en la Universidad de Almería en los estudios de Ingeniería Técnica en Informática, Ingeniería en Informática, Grado en Informática y Postgrado en Informática.

Electricity load forecasting, optimal power system operation and energy management play key roles that can bring significant operational advantages to microgrids. This paper studies how methods based on time series and neural networks can be used to predict energy demand and production, allowing them to be combined with model predictive control. Comparisons of different prediction methods and different optimum energy distribution scenarios are provided, permitting us to determine when short-term energy prediction models should be used. The proposed prediction models in addition to the model predictive control strategy appear as a promising solution to energy management in microgrids. The controller has the task of performing the management of electricity purchase and sale to the power grid, maximizing the use of renewable energy sources and managing the use of the energy storage system. Simulations were performed with different weather conditions of solar irradiation. The obtained results are encouraging for future practical implementation.

This paper presents an innovative dataset designed explicitly for challenging agricultural environments, such as greenhouses, where precise location is crucial, but GNNS accuracy may be compromised by construction elements and the crop. The dataset was collected using a mobile platform equipped with a set of sensors typically used in mobile robots as it was moved through all the corridors of a typical Mediterranean greenhouse featuring tomato crops. This dataset presents a unique opportunity for constructing detailed 3D models of plants in such indoor-like spaces, with potential applications such as robotized spraying. For the first time, to the authors’ knowledge, a dataset suitable to test simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) methods is presented in a greenhouse environment, which poses unique challenges. The suitability of the dataset for this purpose is assessed by presenting SLAM results with state-of-the-art algorithms. The dataset is available online.

Introducción: la catarata es la opacidad progresiva en el cristalino transparente, que cuando alcanza cierta magnitud dificulta la visión al interferir con el paso ordenado de los rayos luminosos que forman la imagen en la retina. Hasta ahora, el único tratamiento curativo es el quirúrgico, el cual ha mostrado ser altamente efectivo. Objetivo: evaluar la calidad visual en pacientes operados de catarata unilateral mediante las técnicas de Facoemulsificación y Mini núcleo en el Hospital “Abel Santamaría Cuadrado” de agosto a octubre de 2015. Método:se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo, longitudinal y prospectivo donde se evaluaron los resultados visuales en pacientes operados de catarata unilateral mediante las técnicas de Facoemulsificación y Mini núcleo con la implantación de lentes intraoculares rígidos y plegables en el Hospital “Abel Santamaría Cuadrado” de agosto a octubre de 2015.El universo de estudio estuvo constituido por 20 pacientes portadores de esta enfermedad que fueron operados en este hospital durante este periodo de tiempo.El análisis de los datos se presentó en tablas estadísticas para su mejor comprensión utilizándose las medidas de resumen frecuencia absoluta y porcentaje. Resultados:el 50 % de la muestra perteneció al grupo de 60 a 69 años, al medir la agudeza visual sin cristales después de la operación el 70 % alcanzó la lectura de los optotipos de 0.3-1.0, mientras que con cristales la alcanzaron el 100 %. El defecto refractivo que predominó en el pre y posoperatorio fue el astigmatismo con el 70 y 95 % respectivamente. Conclusiones:la evidencia de mejoría visual en pacientes operados de catarata ayuda a elevar su calidad de vida.

Eccrine hidrocystoma is a benign tumor derived from eccrine sudoriparous glands. Most eccrine hidrocystomas are solitary and asymptomatic lesions. Multiple hidrocystomas are unusual and have been associated with Graves' disease, Parkinson's disease, and idiopathic craniofacial hyperhidrosis. This report describes the successful treatment of multiple center facial eccrine hidrocystomas associated with craniofacial hyperhidrosis with 0.5% glycopyrrolate aqueous solution applied locally for 1 week. The present authors obtained a very significant improvement without leaving any trace of clinical examination. Multiple eccrine hidrocystomas are a rare condition and, to date, no effective treatment has been reported. Topical glycopyrrolate is a very good first-line treatment option. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
