Introduction: There is a lack of studies in the literature directly investigating the relationship between atrial tachycardia (AT) and left atrial (LA)/left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombus, and current guidelines do not provide strong recommendations regarding the use of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) before AT catheter ablation. This study aims to elucidate the relationship between AT and the presence of LA/LAA thrombus and contribute to the literature on the use of TEE before AT catheter ablation. Methods: This single‐center retrospective observational study screened patients who underwent TEE between February 10, 2019, and February 10, 2023. Patients were assigned to the AT patient and control groups. TEE was conducted to exclude thrombus in the AT ablation group. The control group included patients who underwent TEE for interatrial septum evaluation and had LA imaging during TEE but did not have atrial arrhythmia. To mitigate bias between the AT patient group and the control group, they were randomized 1:1 using propensity‐score matching (PSM). Following randomization, each group consisted of 49 patients. Results: All analyses were conducted after PSM. There were no statistically significant differences between the AT patient and control groups in terms of baseline clinical characteristics and echocardiographic features. Additionally, no significant differences were found between the blood viscosities calculated at low and high shear rates in both groups. The study revealed a significant difference between the two groups in the presence of LA spontaneous echo contrast (SEC) (24.5% in AT group vs 0% in Control group, p =.001), but not in the presence of thrombi (8.2% in AT group vs 0% in Control group, p =.117). Conclusion: Compared to the control group, the presence of SEC was significantly higher in the AT patient group. The increased frequency of SEC in AT patients suggests the hypothesis that AT may contribute to LA stasis. The routine use of TEE before AT catheter ablation remains controversial, despite the presence of LA thrombus and SEC in the AT patient group. Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) are the oligomers of β-1,4 linked xylose monomers and they have health promoting effect by modulating the beneficial microorganisms in intestine. In this study, hydrolysate obtained from hemp (Cannabis sativa) shives was investigated in terms of its in vitro toxicological impacts at cellular and genetic levels and antioxidant activity. The hydrolysate was found to contain 0.264 mg mL-1 of xylose, 0.789 mg mL-1 of xylobiose and 0.171 mg mL-1 of xylotriose in addition to hydroxymethlyfurfural (HMF) and furfural (F) at concentrations of 0.545 mg mL-1 and 0.107 mg mL-1, respectively. The cells, colon epithelial cells (CoN) and colon cancer cells (Caco-2), exposed to 5.00 mg mL-1 or lower XOS hydrolysate showed very similar growth profiles to the untreated control cells. At the genetic level, the oxidative responses of the cell types to XOS hydrolysate were different as measured by NFE2L2 (Nuclear factor, erythroid-derived 2-like 2) gene expression. Regarding antioxidant activity, the amount of XOS hydrolysate (IC50) that cleared 50 % of the 2,2-diphenyl-l-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) in the medium was calculated as 0.12 mg mL-1. To conclude, based on in vitro studies, XOS hydrolysate obtained from lignocellulosic hemp shives emerges as an innovative, alternative and safe functional food candidate.

The article presents a case study of a 38-year-old woman with recurrent palpitations and no structural heart disease, who presented with a documented wide QRS complex tachycardia (WCT) with negative precordial concordance. It discusses the differential diagnosis of the tachycardia mechanism and the management approach, including electrophysiologic study and radiofrequency ablation.

The Anamas Block is located at the apex of the Isparta Angle which is one of the most important tectonic structures of Anatolia. The Isparta Angle, which has a complex tectonic structure, was formed as a result of compressional and extensional tectonic events that initiated from the Late Cretaceous continuing to the present. The GPS and kinematic data indicate the Anamas Block currently rotates clockwise due to the impact of the normal faults (Beyşehir Gölü and Sarıidris) with a minor right lateral strike-slip component on the east and west boundaries, while it is moved to the southeast by the effect of the normal fault (Gelendost) bounding the block from the north. In this study, paleoseismological trench investigations were carried out on the Sarıidris, Gelendost and Beyşehir Gölü faults. Data related with activity and fault kinematics of all three faults during the Late Pleistocene-Holocene period was collected on the trench walls. Sedimentological and structural evidences were observed for one earthquake on the Sarıidris, Beyşehir Gölü faults, and two earthquakes on the Gelendost Fault, which resulted in surface rupture during the Late Pleistocene-Holocene period. The article describes the case of a 67-year-old diabetic man with ischemic cardiomyopathy presented with a recurrent defibrillator shock. Background: Several clinical risk factors and scoring systems have been proposed to predict arrhythmia recurrence after atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. We sought to determine the ability of a new score to predict atrial arrhythmia recurrence after cryoballoon (CB) ablation of AF and whether the new score shows superior efficiency compared to previously offered scores. Methods: A total of 419 patients with paroxysmal AF who underwent their first CB ablation were included. Baseline clinical variables were analyzed, and independent predictors of recurrence at 12 months were used to develop the PAT2C2H score. The predictive capability of the new score was calculated and compared with the currently available risk scores. Results: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, left atrial dilatation, transient ischemic attack or stroke, congestive heart failure, and hypertension were independent predictors of recurrence. The PAT2C2H score which was developed from these variables had a better clinical predictive capability of arrhythmia recurrence compared to HATCH and CHA2DS2-VASc scores. With increasing PAT2C2H score and score severity (low, score of 0; moderate, score of 1–2; and high, score of ≥ 3), the proportion of patients with recurrence was increased from 7% (score = 0, severity = low) to 59% (score ≥ 3, severity = high). Conclusions: The PAT2C2H score may help to identify patients who are likely benefited most from CB ablation of paroxysmal AF and who should be monitored more closely for arrhythmia recurrence at 12 months. The article presents a case of a 58-year-old male experiencing recurrent episodes of paroxysmal palpitation to discuss the mechanism of a wide QRS tachycardia with short and long ventriculoatrial interval in the presence of atriofascicular (AF) accessory pathway (AP). Also cited are the patient's spontaneous sustained wide complex tachycardia (WCT) with left bundle branch block (LBBB) morphology, and the differential diagnosis of regular WCT like atrial flutter or atrial tachycardia (AT).

The article presents a case of a 29-year-old female with repeated paroxysms of palpitations due to rapid narrow QRS complex tachycardia (NCT) to discuss the dynamic changes in atrial activation sequence during supraventricular tachycardia and the mechanism of the tachycardia. The article presents a case study of a 75-year-old man with history of ischemic cardiomyopathy with an ejection fraction referring for ablation of recurrent ventricular tachycardia (VT). The article presents a case study of a 38-year-old woman with recurrent episodes of tachycardia in the absence of structural heart disease and documented with narrow QRS complex tachycardia (NCT). Topics include first tachycardia diagnosed as typical atrioventricular (AV) nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) and the radiofrequency ablation of the slow pathway; and attributable to a retrograde atrial activation by the last ventricular stimulus in contrast to ventricular entrainment.

The phenolic compositions of two different Polygonum cognatum samples collected from the Cumra and Manisa regions of Turkey were investigated for the first time. Both tested samples were rich in different phenolic compounds, mostly rutin, isorhamnetin, and catechin. The rutin content of Cumra's sample was relatively higher than that of Manisa's sample. P. cognatum has potential regarding rutin content as a functional dietary food or may be used as an ingredient to enrich functional foods. Our study will contribute to the previous works performed by different researchers on P. cognatum, commonly consumed in Turkey, to reveal its beneficial properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents a case of a 21-year-old male who was rushed to a clinic due to regular palpitations and narrow complex tachycardia (NCT) and wide complex tachycardia (WCT) to discuss the mechanism of tachycardia and the transition from two WCT to narrow QRS tachychardia.
